Dutch death metallers SINISTER have revealed the cover artwork for their upcoming live DVD, which they plan on filming at their August 24, 2006 performance in Warsaw, Poland. Also appearing on the bill will be OBITUARY, GRAVE and CATAMENIA, all of whom will be filming separate DVD releases of their own at the concert.

SINISTER's latest CD, "Afterburner", was released earlier this year through Nuclear Blast Records.

SINISTER's current lineup consists of Aad Kloosterwaard, drummer and founder of the band, on vocals, Alex Paul on guitar, Paul Beltman (ex-JUDGEMENT DAY) on drums, and Bas van den Bogaard on bass.

The band, who re-signed with Nuclear Blast back in 2002 after a one-album stint with the now-defunct Hammerheart Records, have already announced the working title of their next album: "No Mercyful God".

Two previously unreleased tracks from ENGEL — the new Gothenburg, Sweden-based quintet featuring guitarists Marcus Sunesson (ex-THE CROWN) and Niclas Engelin (PASSENGER, ex-GARDENIAN, IN FLAMES), drummer Mojjo (RELEVANT FEW, DRACENA), vocalist Mangan Klavborn, and bassist Michael Håkansson (ex-EVERGREY) — have been posted online at GarageBand.com. Legendary hard rock band UFO has finalized the track listing and artwork for its new album, "The Monkey Puzzle" as the title of their new studio album, due in Europe on September 25 via SPV Records (one day later in North America). The original members, Phil Mogg (vocals), Pete Way (bass), Paul Raymond (guitar, keyboards) and recently returned drummer Andy Parker, are scheduled to start their extensive world tour in October 2006. Parker was part of the UFO lineup that performed the group's debut show in the late Sixties and has returned to replace Jason Bonham, who left to join FOREIGNER. Also on board is their accomplished guitarist Vinnie Moore, who has been part of the permanent lineup since the last studio album, "You Are Here".

UFO's "Showtime" live CD/DVD was recorded at Pumpwerk in Wilhelmshaven, Germany on May 13, 2005.

Veteran San Francisco Bay Area metallers VICIOUS RUMORS have posted the cover artwork for their new album, "Warball", at this location. Due in October via Mascot Records, the CD was recorded at Trident Studios in Pacheco, CA by Geoff Thorpe and Juan J. Orteaga and includes lead-guitar contributions from Brad Gillis (NIGHT RANGER) and Thaen Rassmussen (ANVIL CHORUS). The group's first CD with new vocalist James Rivera (HELSTAR, KILLING MACHINE, SEVEN WITCHES) is being described as "a darker and more aggressive version" of the band's classic "Digital Dictator" album (1987).

"Warball" is the first VICIOUS RUMORS album with Geoff Thorpe doing all rhythm and acoustic guitars and most of the solos. "In the past I've always split the guitar duties up with our other guitarist," he said. "As I rebuilt the band, I decided to knock it out myself. I always planned to have some special guests on the record, and it turned out great."

For the "Warball" CD, Geoff Thorpe reunites with original members Larry Howe (drums and vocals), and Dave Starr (bass). "It felt great to have the original nucleus together again," Geoff said. "Larry and Dave are a tight-knit veteran rhythm section that really stepped up on this new CD. The years of working together definitely helped create the metal mayhem of 'Warball'."

"Warball" features ten new original songs, including "Sonic Rebellion", "Mr. Miracle", "Dying Every Day", "Immortal" and the epic "Warball". A European tour with AGENT STEEL will follow in March 2007.

Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON have posted the following message on their official web site:

"We spent the weekend shooting a new video for 'The Pentagram Burns' with director Håvard Arnstad in Oslo, Norway. The video will be ready for viewing the first week of September here on this website, before it hits TV stations around the globe. Visually the video is strongly linked with the look and the style from the album cover, hence we find ourselves covered with minor burns all over bodies and it feels nothing but good. SATYRICON reissued their 1999 album, "Rebel Extravaganza", on July 25. The record was remixed and features three bonus tracks: "Nemesis Divina (Clean Version Mix)" and "Blessed From Below (Melancholy Oppression Longing)", as well as a cover of SARCOFAGO's "I.N.R.I."

SATYRICON's latest album, "Now, Diabolical", debuted at No. 2 on the national Norwegian chart and also charted in Sweden and Finland. The CD sold around 1,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release — approximately one-tenth of the total number of units (15,000) shifted by the band's last effort, "Volcano", which came out in the U.S. in 2004.

DOWNLORD, the Denmark-based death metal band featuring Dave Ingram (ex-BENEDICTION, BOLT THROWER) on vocals, Donovan Spenceley (ex-SACRIFICIAL, EXCESSIVE PAYBACK) on guitar, Rene Falther (ex-EXCESSIVE PAYBACK, INIQUITY) on guitar, Thomas Fagerlind (ex-INIQUITY, DAEMON) on bass, and Rasmus Schmidt on drums, has released a studio-report video on the work progressing with the recording of its full-length album, "Random Dictionary Of The Damned", due late November 2006 on Open Grave Records.

North Carolina's DAYLIGHT DIES has issued the following update:

"The first few notes of new material are now being written and arranged. We think the best use of our time between now and our North American tour in late October is to write. It takes us a considerable amount of time to construct material we are personally satisfied with and writing on the road isn't an option for us. We want to begin the process now and pick it up after touring to avoid extreme delays before the next album. The first bit of material is still in its infancy, so a description of what it sounds like wouldn't be accurate in the end."

Dutch female-fronted symphonic metal band EPICA is currently working on material for its third full-length album. "We have about 13 songs which are growing every day," states vocalist Simone Simons. "Soon we will be able to play new songs live. Looking forward to it!"

EPICA's sophomore album, "Consign to Oblivion", was released in April 2005 via Transmission Records. The band issued its first DVD, "We Will Take You With Us / 2 Meter Sessies", in September 2004. The disc came in a limited-edition deluxe ECO-Book (containing a 40-page booklet) with an additional bonus CD containing all of the "2 Meter Sessies" recordings. EPICA also released the soundtrack to the Dutch movie "Joyride", entitled "The Score - An Epic Journey", last September.

EPICA has been confirmed to make its debut U.S. appearance at ProgPower USA VII festival on September 15 and 16 Earthlink Live in Atlanta. EPICA will then embark on a North American tour with KAMELOT, which will take them through mid-October.

Sweden's CRYSTAL EYES has posted the following message on its official web site:

"After nine years Jonathan [Nyberg, guitar] has now left the band. With a growing family, a house and a full-time job he felt his engagement in CRYSTAL EYES had been suffering too much lately. His decision was made during the recording of the new album, so Mikael [Dahl] has finished all guitars by himself except one solo, which Jonathan played as a farewell gesture. Jonathan is still a really good friend to everybody in the band, and we wish him all the best.

"As Jonathan's replacement we are now welcoming back Niclas Karlsson. Niclas started the band with Mikael in 1992, and was actually the one who came up with the band name. During the short break in 1995 Niclas quit the band and formed FIERCE CONVICTION (later CONVICTION), which released two albums. After that he appeared on one album with ZONATA, and played for a short while with FRETERNIA and RISING FAITH. Lately Mikael and Niclas have also been playing with the same cover band so it was quite easy to ask Niclas if he wanted to come back."

"Mirka [Rantanen] has already laid down some good drum tracks with excellent drum sounds at the Sonic Pump Studios," Timo writes on his web site.

KOTIPELTO's sophomore solo album, "Coldness", was released in Europe in April 2004 through Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2002's "Waiting for the Dawn" was recorded by CHILDREN OF BODOM keyboardist Janne Wirman at his Beyond Abilities Studios as well as by Tero Kostermaa at High and Loud's ELK Studios and Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, where the mixing (Mikko Karmila) and the mastering (Mika Jussila) also took place. Matthias Norén, who has previously worked with bands like INTO ETERNITY, LOST HORIZON and EVERGREY, designed the album's artwork.

Finland's TAROT, the group led by NIGHTWISH/ex-SINERGY bassist Marco Hietala, has issued the following update:

"In the middle of touring the summer festivals, TAROT has been also been active and sweating in the studio. Currently Pecu [Cinnari] has played the drums for all the 10 upcoming album tracks and Zac [Zachary Hietala] just finished all of his guitar parts. Half of the tracks already contain their basses and next week Janne [Tolsa] is about to step in to do his synth parts. Marco's and Tuple's vocal recordings are to start after the next week and the new album should be in the mix at the end of September at Finnvox. More info on the exact release date of the album follows as soon as it's been confirmed."

As previously reported, TAROT's latest single, "You", entered the national chart in Finland at position No. 1. The single contains two tracks: A straight-forward classic heavy metal song "You", taken from the upcoming full-length TAROT album, and a BLUE ÖYSTER CULT cover, "Veteran of the Psychic Wars". The as-yet-untitled new TAROT album is expected to be released during the fall.

TAROT recently released remastered versions of their first five studio albums along with the "To Live Again" live album previously released in Japan. Each CD includes special bonus track(s).

Spanish metallers DARK MOOR will enter New Sin Studios in Venice, Italy in September with producer Luigi Stefanini to begin recording their new album, tentatively due in early 2007 via an as-yet-undisclosed label. Prior to tracking at New Sin, DARK MOOR will record the choir parts for the upcoming CD at a Madrid studio beginning mid-August. For the occasion, DARK MOOR will utilize a professional choir composed for two tenors, two sopranos, two altos and two bassos. The as-yet-untitled album will also include a guest appearance by the Dutch singer Manda Ophuis of the band NEMESEA.

DARK MOOR's latest album, "Beyond the Sea", was issued in early 2005 via Arise Records. The band has since split with the label.
