As promised, the band played a nearly all-request set on the above-listed South American shows, with 17 songs chosen online by fans prior to the gig and the last slot filled by the new track "The Lords Of Summer".
Drummer Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone that "The Lords Of Summer" "is fairly representative of where our creative headspace is at right now. It's one of those things that's like, 'Here, we're writing and we're creating.'"
Guitarist Kirk Hammett told The Pulse Of Radio that coming up with music is not a problem for the band. "We're a band that never has a shortage of ideas," he said. "You know, you hear about these bands that are like, oh, they're sitting in the studio and they don't have any songs, what are they gonna do? That's not METALLICA. METALLICA's problem is the total opposite: we have too many ideas, which ones are we gonna use. And so that's pretty much how it stands with us."
Ulrich cautioned, however, that "The Lords Of Summer" may not even end up on METALLICA's next album at all, or at least not in its current form. He explained, "We did the same thing when we went out and played a bunch of dates in 2006. We were writing and played two different new songs over the course of that summer, and none of them made the record (2008's 'Death Magnetic')."
The Metallica By Request tour will hit Europe this summer, with a single North American date confirmed in Montreal, as the band continues working on its 10th studio album. The rest of METALLICA's "by request" show in South America featured such "rarities" as "Master Of Puppets", "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)", "Battery", "Fade To Black", "One" and "Enter Sandman".

According to The Pulse Of Radio, AVENGED SEVENFOLD has a lot of plans in store for the rest of 2014, but first on the band's to-do list is the long-awaited arrival of its mobile video game, Hail To The King: Deathbat. The game has been two years in the making and singer M. Shadows told The Pulse Of Radio where things are at. "It's gonna be a big game," he said. "It's really pushing the boundaries of mobile in a lot of technical ways. Right now we're just working out the bugs. You know, there's some people sitting in a dark room somewhere just playing the game over and over and sending us notes on it. So that's kind of where it stands."
AVENGED SEVENFOLD will head out this month on a spring North American headlining trek dubbed the "Shepherd Of Fire Tour" in honor of the band's current single.
The dates will kick off on April 12 in British Columbia, hitting arenas in the United States and Canada as well as several major festivals before winding down on May 17 at Columbus, Ohio's Rock On The Range blowout. Support on the headlining dates will come from HELLYEAH.
The song "Shepherd Of Fire" is taken from AVENGED SEVENFOLD's 2013 album, "Hail To The King". The single is the band's second consecutive chart-topper on the Active Rock radio chart, following the album's title track.

Video: BLACK SABBATH Kicks Off North American Tour In Brooklyn
 Legendary heavy metal band BLACK SABBATH kicked off the latest North American leg of its "13" tour this past Monday night (March 31) at the nearly sold out Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

BLACK SABBATH's current North American tour consists of a series of 10 shows encompassing mostly Canadian stops until winding down on April 26 in Los Angeles. According to a press release, these gigs are among the final shows that SABBATH does in support of its current studio album, "13", which became the band's first No. 1 album ever in the U.S. when it was released in June 2013. The group has been on the road since April 2013 in support of the record, which reunited singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler for their first full-length studio project since 1978's "Never Say Die!"
A contract dispute led drummer Bill Ward to sit out the reunion, which was also marred by Iommi's cancer diagnosis in early 2012.
SABBATH released a live album and DVD/Blu-ray captured on last year's world tour, called "Black Sabbath: Live… Gathered In Their Masses", on November 26, 2013.
"13" has sold more than 360,000 copies in the United States since its June 2013 release.
Iommi revealed in January of 2012 that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma, which is described by the Mayo Clinic as "a cancer of the lymphatic system, the body's disease-fighting network."
He described his "infusion" treatments to the Birmingham Mail earlier this year, explaining, "I have to have an antibody administered by drip every six weeks or so to keep the lymphoma in check. It sort of coats the cancer cells, stops it from going anywhere else. I have to come back home no matter where I might be in the world."
He added, "The tour dates are arranged so that I can always get back for treatment. It's the only way I can manage my illness and keep on the road. I'd love to play more shows . . . but my health has to be sorted out first."
The legendary guitarist said that his treatment is a relatively new process and doctors are not sure what all the side effects might be. He also said that it "takes around 10 days to fully recover from each round of treatment, but if that's what it takes, I have to accept it."

CRADLE OF FILTH Working On New Material
 British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH have begun work on the follow-up to 2012's "The Manticore And Other Horrors", with the hope of a release this time next year in 2015.
Comments CRADLE OF FILTH vocalist Dani "Filth" Davey: "Fired up from the recent spate of shows in Europe with co-headliners BEHEMOTH, the band have decided to forego the year away from writing, and leap back into the fray with vigour anew.
"The crux of three songs have already been broached and I can say the material is comparable to that of 'Dusk... And Her Embrace' [1996], 'Cruelty And The Beast' [1998] and 'Midian' [2000], albeit with a fresher sound. I can't define it exactly, as it incorporates a wide variety of styles and dark emotions as one would come to expect from a CRADLE record. One thing is certain, though: this next release is going to be pushing the boundaries of what the band can achieve, and with forthcoming live shows peppering the writing process, I know this album is going to be fuelled by 101% metal fury!"
At last, after more than 20 years, "Total Fucking Darkness", the infamous third demo from CRADLE OF FILTH, will be officially released in vinyl format on May 5. Housed in a heavy gatefold sleeve with paintings featuring the twisted visions of BBC Radio One presenter and occult artist Daniel Carter, the release will include some tracks previously unreleased by the band.
Guitarists Paul Allender and James McIlroy both sat out CRADLE OF FILTH's European tour with BEHEMOTH due to "hugely important family matters" and "serious neck surgery," respectively. Filling in for them were Ashok of Czech groups ROOT and INNER FEAR and Richard Shaw of English acts EMPEROR CHUNG and NG26.
2014 marks the 20th anniversary of "The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh", the historic debut album from CRADLE OF FILTH on Cacophonous Records. To honor this momentous occasion, CRADLE OF FILTH is planning a whole smorgasbord of exciting stuff, including the first-ever CRADLE OF FILTH comic, the release of a career-spanning double disc best-of, and, of course, the subsequent touring.
CRADLE OF FILTH's tenth studio album, "The Manticore And Other Horrors", sold 4,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 96 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous full-length effort, "Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa", opened with 5,800 units in November 2010 to land at No. 99.

Entire Current KISS Lineup To Attend ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME Induction
 According to Rolling Stone, all four members of the current lineup of KISS will attend the band's Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony. They will be accompanied at their table by guitarist Bruce Kulick, who played in KISS during from 1984 to 1996. "The fact that they want me at their table means the world," Kulick told the magazine.
Current KISS members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer will not be inducted along with the band's original lineup, a decision by the Rock Hall which has angered Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley.
"Tommy has been in the band 10 years," Stanley told Rolling Stone. "Eric's been in the band 20 years." (Minus a five-year interlude when the original band reunited.) "The idea of no one being even a candidate for induction into the Hall Of Fame other than the four original guys is hogwash."
"If the choice is up to me, do I want to attend or not, then I don't wanna go," Singer told Rolling Stone before Simmons and Stanley invited him. "I personally don't care about attending, but if Gene and Paul say, 'No, we want you there,' no problem. I'm there for you guys. I'm there for Gene and Paul and Tommy. For KISS, the way it stands now, no problem. Or if they just want me to be there to celebrate KISS in general, and that means everybody, fine, great, because I'm part of the whole story."
Simmons and Stanley have chosen to have Thayer and Singer dress up as Peter Criss' and Ace Frehley's respective "Spaceman" and "Catman" personas (designs owned by Simmons and Stanley).
Frehley left KISS after the band's 2002 "Farewell" dates, saying afterwards that he took the word "farewell" seriously.
Criss claimed that his contract with KISS wasn't renewed in March 2004.
Both charges have been disputed by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley.
The 29th annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 10 at Barclays Center.
The television broadcast will premiere on HBO on May 31.

MOS GENERATOR Announces Reissue Of Songs For Future Album
 Ripple Music and MOS GENERATOR have a long history of teaming up to bring the world the best in heavy stoner rock and are now unveiling their latest collaboration.
Originally, Mos Generator main man Tony Reed teamed with Ripple Music to release his then active band, STONE AXE (Stone Axe I, Stone Axe II, and Stone Axe Captured Live) and both parties knew they had to work together to bring back the raging sound of Mos Generator. At that time, Mos Generator had been inactive for five years, but Reed and Ripple Music broke that silence with the glorious LP/CD combination package of the 10th Anniversary re-issue of Mos Generator’s long-out-of-print debut album. Originally a CD only release, this was the debut album’s first ever release on vinyl.
The response was so strong that Tony Reed reunited the band and soon released the Ripple Music release, Nomads, which led to resurgent tours of Europe and an ever-expanding audience for the heaviness of Mos Generator.
Now, on the eve of their Listenable Records debut release Electric Mountain Majesty, Ripple Music and Tony Reed once again announce their team-up to bring the definitive, “Director’s Cut” version of the Mos Generator masterpiece album, Songs For Future Gods. Completely remastered, this reissue of the 2007 release (originally on Small Stone Records) features a completely new mix and two songs from the aborted recording sessions from January 2006. The digipack also features modified cover art and packaging. This is the album as it was originally intended and still redefines the sound of Mos Generator, a sprawling celebration of heavy amplification, fret-board psychotropics and kick-ass heavy rock. Songs From Future Gods is classic Mos Generator and this is the definitive cut of the album.

HYDROGYN Announce New Single, Video Release
 HYDROGYN reports in from just finishing up the video for the second single off of the new EP Break The Chains.
"We had a lot of fun doing all of it. There were three different shoots involved in all. The entire band is in this shoot as well. We have heard some rumblings about why they were not in the shoot for ‘Rock Me’ and the simple answer is that they were not around for it," states vocalist Julie Westlake on the why the band was not involved in the most recent video.
"This song is track five on the release ‘Get It On’. In the past the band has always been in the video's but when you just cannot get everyone together then as Jeff says; “let’s just do it.”
The band is also putting together a DVD at the moment that will have a lot of never before seen live shows, behind the scenes and interviews as well spanning the bands entire career.

SEPREVATION Announce New Album Consumed; Reveal Details
 UK death thrashers SEPREVATION have announced the release of their debut full-length album Consumed, which is to be independently released on May 10th.
Guitarist Joss Farrington comments on Consumed, “I think fans of Ritual Abuse will really like it, it’s more of the same in many ways, plenty of shred and old school worship but it’s definitely steering in our own direction, as the writing process went on the songs became more and more diverse, songs like ‘Between Two Worlds And Dreams’ were written last and you can really hear the difference.”
Raul Gonzalez is the man behind the Consumed artwork. “He did the Ritual Abuse art too”, comments Joss. “I suppose if there was to be a concept or theme, it would be about death, and all the bullshit that follows with it, depression, loss, escape etc. the idea of being consumed by something you cannot control.”

 Quebec City, Canada-based power metallers SUDDENFLAMES have inked a worldwide deal with Maple Metal Records to release their second studio album, Under The Sign Of The Alliance. The worldwide release date for this new album is set for June 6th.

DANKO JONES Posts Live Footage Of BLACK FLAG's 'Nervous Breakdown' Performed With FUCKED UP
 Toronto rocker DANKO JONES has checked in with the following update:

Danko Jones (the band) will release Garage Rock! A Collection Of Lost Songs From 1996 – 1998 on April 8th, featuring lost tracks recorded in Toronto, New York and Washington DC between 1996 and 1998. Word has come down that the album will be released domestically in Canada via New Damage Records.

Frontman and namesake Danko Jones comments on the release:
"If a band continues past the gesticulation stage, the term 'Garage Rock' is usually rendered unusable. Back in the '90s, the Garage Rock scene as I knew it was a warts-and-all approach that favoured low-fi recordings and rudimentary playing over any modicum of musical prowess in order to glean some Rock N’ Roll essence. However, once a band got better at their instruments, songwriting and stage performance, the inevitable crossroads would eventually appear. Deliberately continuing to play against their growing skill would only evolve into a pose. There were a lot of bands who did exactly this in order to sustain scenester favour. We did the opposite.
This album is a document of what we were and where we came from. We didn’t know how to write songs and could barely play but we wanted to be near to the music we loved so badly. We ate, slept and drank this music. We still do. That’s why we have never had to reunite because we’ve never broken up. After 18 years, we’ve stayed the course, got tough when the going did and, above all else, we have never stopped. This album is the proof.

The band recently released their controversial new video, for the track 'Legs', featured on the Rock And Roll Is Black And Blue album, available via Bad Taste Records.
The video, directed by Bruce LaBruce, can be seen below. LaBruce, who is best known for his sexually charged and culturally challenging productions have been looking forward to working with the band for a long time, says LaBruce:
“I've known Danko and John for many years, and I went to many Danko Jones shows when they were first starting out in Toronto and in New York.After reconnecting with Danko last year at his book launch, we decided it was finally time for me to do a video for them.”
The video itself is in line with the direct vision LaBruce had to create a spectacular and unexpected video for the song. “Danko suggested their song Legs, and for some reason I immediately thought of some of my sexy and leggy acquaintances in the M-F transsexual community. I really love the work of the famous photographer Pierre Molinier, whose gender bending photographs have influenced a variety of artists, so I decided to pay tribute to his work in the video.” | 0 | |

Sten Nilsen's AMMUNITION - Former WIGWAM Frontman Teams Up With Members Of W.E.T, ECLIPSE, KING DIAMOND, NORDIC BEAST
 Age Sten Nilsen is picking up where his former band WIGWAM left off. Penning new rock anthems with Erik Mårtensson (ECLIPSE/W.E.T) in Stockholm since October 2013, originally dedicated for the long awaited sixth studio album from Wigwam. When Wigwam surprisingly decided to call it a day after 13 years, Age Sten soon formed his own band, recording the new songs in the vein of the new band effort Age Sten Nilsen's AMMUNITION.
The new material wears the same catchiness as Wigwam, yet offers a rougher and more subtle sound and arrangements than his former band’s latter productions. Produced by one of melodic rocks most esteemed producers Erik Mårtensson, Age Sten Nilsen's Ammuniton is now on the verge of finishing its first album due for a release later this year.
With a dream team of rock musicians in the line-up Age Sten Nilsen's Ammunition has already debuted live, blasting through Wigwam gems blended with new unreleased songs from the forthcoming album and live favorites from LED ZEPPELIN and QUEEN.

BLOODSOAKED Release Video ‘Religious Apocalypse’
 US death metal unit BLOODSOAKED is gearing up for the 2014 "Consuming Europe" tour with SHORT FUSE, INSATANITY, AITTALA and AGE OF ARES.
The tour, which kicks off on Thursday, April 3rd in Berlin, Germany, comes ahead of the release of Bloodsoaked's forthcoming album, Religious Apocalypse, out later this year on Comatose Music. The title track from the album has been posted as an official music video.

RAISING FEAR Release New Song ‘Burning Soul’ For Streaming, Free Download
 RAISING FEAR have made available for streaming the new track ‘Burning Soul’. A free download is also available from their Facebook page.
The heavy and power metal sounds, which distinguished the band throughout their 11 years career in the Italian metal underground scene, are back with intensity, yet distancing this time from the concept developed in the band discography so far.
In the words of the frontman Roberto della Frera: "For the first time we challenged ourselves with songs not linked by a common plot; we decided to put on standby the Wolfram Saga, which intertwined all our past works, to talk about more down to earth and more intimate topics. This is a sort of new path for us, as telling a story in a single song rather than in a whole album pushed us to think and actually to create different atmospheres within the same piece.”

EVENOIRE Sign Management Deal With Rockshots; Will Release Herons Album In April
 Italian female-fronted symphonic metallers EVENOIRE has signed a booking/management deal with Rockshots. Evenoire are ready to release the second album Herons on April 15th.
Between 2012 and 2013 Evenoire promoted Vitriol (2012, Scarlet Records) with an intensive tour into main Italian rock clubs and festivals like Fosch Fest, Colonia Sonora, Autunnonero, Isola Rock, opening for HAGGARD, THEATRES DES VAMPIRES, CADAVERIA, VISION DIVINE, ALESTORM, ENSIFERUM, CRUACHAN, OPERA IX, ELVENKING.
Herons is the title of the second album, released by Scarlet Records: fire, element of purification and destruction is the protagonist of forgotten legend in the North of Italy. Evenoire discovers those legends and gave them a special sound that combines a wide range of influences, from gothic to symphonic metal with a very distinctive medieval/folk approach, which has attracted overwhelming response worldwide. A special mention goes to extraordinary lead vocalist Lisy Stefanoni, whose ethereal and powerful voice adds an extra dimension to the melodies and makes her one of the most promising female singers around. Flute and acoustic parts give to the songs a charming atmosphere. Into this second album we have very special guests: keyboardist Riccardo Studer from Stormlord and keyboardist Filippo Sasha Martignano from Echotime. There is also a duet with Linnéa Vikström from THERION.
Evenoire recorded at Dreamsound Studios in Munich, with Mario Lochert, Dejan Djukovic and Daniel Rehbein (EMERGENCY GATE, GRAVEWORM, VISIONS OF ATLANTIS) behind the console and Jan Vacik (SERENITY, Visions of Atlantis, Graveworm, DREAMSCAPE) worked at mixing and mastering.

 Winnipeg's death metal troopers PSYCHOTIC GARDENING have premiered their DEATH cover 'Open Casket' featuring guest appearances from Tim Roth (INTO ETERNITY) and Chuck Wepfer (BROKEN HOPE).
"The ‘Open Casket’ video really is a stripped down candid look at the recording process in the Psychotic Gardening dungeon. We thought it was in keeping in the spirit with the old school to start out and pay tribute with this song in this way. Of course, we did our dark, doom-laden spin on it. And it's really cool these days, getting to collaborate with Chuck Wepfer mailing his stuff in from Chicago and Tim Roth from Regina," says vocalist Andrew Wiens.
Psychotic Gardening return this year with new material and the return of Chuck Labossiere after he filled in with Broken Hope for tour dates in Europe and Canada. Their forthcoming album Hymnosis is set for release on May 13th and will follow up 2011's Humanitorium and 2007's debut Hürdür.
Featuring nine heavy hitting assaults, Hymnosis is sure to bang skulls with its full-throttle, go-for-the-throat execution of doom and black metal. In this release the band digs into its death metal roots for a concoction of their most vicious material while still hammering down on doom-laden monster riffs.

BEYOND THE SHORE Release Video ‘Glass Houses’
 Lexington, KY's BEYOND THE SHORE recently filmed some clips with guitarists Zach Hunter and Jared Loucks, as well as bassist Eli Masherbash, to demonstrate the track ‘Glass Houses’ from the Ghostwatcher album. The clips were edited together into a sort of performance demonstration / lyric video hybrid that is streaming below:
Beyond The Shore is on the road now with Santa Cruz, California's progressive experimental band ARSONISTS GET ALL THE GIRLS, THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE, and SEEKER, in support of their latest album and Metal Blade Records debut, Ghostwatcher.

DARKEST ERA - Severance Artwork, Tracklisting Revealed
 Northern Ireland's DARKEST ERA have revealed the cover artwork and tracklisting for their forthcoming album, Severance, which is due for release on June 3rd (North America) and June 13th (Europe) via Cruz Del Sur. The album was recorded at Data Recording Studios in Ballyheigue, Ireland and produced by Chris Fielding and Darkest Era. The artwork was created by Costin Chioreanu.
Guitarist Ade Mulgrew said: "We are really pleased with the artwork which totally captures the atmosphere of this album. Costin has a unique style and immediately got what we were looking for. Severance was recorded during what was a pretty stormy time in the band and against the backdrop of some very atmospheric natural scenery in one of the remotest parts of the west of Ireland. I think all that certainly comes across in the music and we are looking forward to finally unleashing it this summer."
