KHAOZ: 'Sodium Amytal' Single Released
 Six-headed Dutch death/trash metal band KHAOZ has released a new single, "Sodium Amytal", on Bandcamp, SoundCloud and YouTube. The track is taken from the group's second full-length album, "I, Creator of Damnation", which will be made available in January 2014.
According to a press release, "Sodium Amytal" is "a skull-crushing song marked by KHAOZ' signature double vocals. The song is about a drug called Sodium Amytal which was used as a truth serum. The drug, however, had hallucinating effects, which caused one to make a false statement, without even knowing it. This led to hundreds of innocent people being punished in a medieval way, for example by being buried alive."  | 0 |  |

SYMPHONY X Bassist MIKE LEPOND Working On 'Heavy/Power Metal' Solo Album
 SYMPHONY X bassist Mike LePond is working on first-ever solo album, to be released under the banner MIKE LEPOND'S SILENT ASSASSINS. He states: "It is a heavy metal/power metal record that combines all the influences of my favorite bands from the past and present. It is a full hour of headbanging riffs, kick-ass vocals, and epic tales. There is something in there for any style of metal you enjoy! Metal Mike (HALFORD, TESTAMENT) is on lead guitar and Alan Tecchio (AUTUMN HOUR, WATCHTOWER, HADES) is on vocals."
Regarding the songwriting process for MIKE LEPOND'S SILENT ASSASSINS, Mike says: "It's been an amazing two-year journey. Waking up late at night with melodies pounding in my brain, writing lyrics on coffee stained napkins, and obsessing over riffs for hours like a lunatic! But to see the fruits of my blood, sweat and tears finally come to life makes it all worth it.
"This CD is all me. I wrote all the music, and all the lyrics. It is one of the most satisfying things I have ever done and I can't wait to share it with you."
LePond has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $6000 to pay for the recording, mixing and mastering of the MIKE LEPOND'S SILENT ASSASSINS album, which he hopes to release by March. JIM ROOT To Sit Out STONE SOUR Tour In Order To Focus On SLIPKNOT's Next Album
 STONE SOUR guitarist Jim Root will sit out the band's upcoming tour with POP EVIL and STOLEN BABIES in order to focus on the songwriting process for SLIPKNOT's long-awaited new studio album. STONE SOUR says in a statement: "Everyone involved is okay with the decision and our mutual friend Christian Martucci will be filling in on guitar.
"It was a difficult decision, but as the fans have wanted another STONE SOUR tour and Jim had responsibilities to the writing process with SLIPKNOT, we feel this is the best decision where everyone wins."
STONE SOUR's tour with POP EVIL and STOLEN BABIES is scheduled to kick off on January 14 at the House Of Blues in Orlando, Florida.
SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor — who also fronts STONE SOUR — told ARTISTdirect in a recent interview that things may finally be moving forward for SLIPKNOT in terms of making its first new album since 2008's "All Hope Is Gone". Taylor explained: "SLIPKNOT is looming on the horizon. That's what's next in my mind anyway. I'm writing some demos. [Shawn 'Clown' Crahan, percussion] is putting some things together. Joey [Jordison, drums] is doing [his side project] SCAR THE MARTYR, but he's a fucking machine. He can write at any time. This band is just loaded with writers. We don't have a definitive start date, which is fine. That's okay for us now. When we're ready to make the album, we will. That's the mindset. Next year we're going to get together and start putting the pieces together."
Asked what he thinks when someone brings up SLIPKNOT's 2004 album "Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses", Taylor replied: "That album is a bit of a peek at what I think the next album will be. It'll be a cross between 'Iowa' and 'Vol. 3' in a lot of ways, while also evolving the way we always have. The stuff I'm writing right now is really dark. The stuff Clown is coming with is fucking beyond. It's really cool. It's going to be cool to get the alchemists in the same room and see what happens."
Jordison recently told Stereoboard.com about the forthcoming SLIPKNOT CD: "What I can say is that there is SLIPKNOT material. We're writing right now, and we're all in talks . . . I've got so much SLIPKNOT material, I started writing this a long time ago. Y'know, when the time is right. Everyone works at their own pace and I can't speak for anyone else, but for me, I just kinda put myself in the mindset where I'm writing for a certain project. I kinda just take myself to that place, get in that mindset. When the time is right." Jordison and Crahan are the main creative forces within SLIPKNOT and the ones most ready to make a new record, as Crahan hinted to The Pulse Of Radio not long ago. "Before you know it, there is going to be another record, and it's gonna come sooner than anybody thinks," he said. "Everybody thinks differently, but I'm here to tell you as the Clown, it's gonna come sooner than you think and it's gonna hit you in the back of the head instead of the front of the face. And it's gonna be an amazing, amazing part of our lives."
The new SLIPKNOT album will be the band's first without bassist Paul Gray, another key member of the songwriting team who died of a drug overdose in May 2010.
Taylor and Root have spent the last three years recording and touring behind three full STONE SOUR studio records, 2010's "Audio Secrecy" and the double concept album "House Of Gold & Bones", which was released in two parts in 2012 and 2013.
SLIPKNOT toured earlier this year and last summer.

Surviving Members Of Classic VIXEN Lineup Resurrect Band In Honor Of Fallen Guitarist
 Singer Janet Gardner, drummer Roxy Petrucci and bassist Share Ross (Pedersen) will honor their friend and bandmate, guitarist and founder of VIXEN, Jan Kuehnemund, by performing as VIXEN in 2014.
The band was committed to reunite in 2012 but Kuehnemund's cancer diagnosis caused what was thought of at the time as a delay. Sadly, however, after a fierce battle, Kuehnemund succumbed to her illness in October 2013, thus the reunion was not meant to be.
After discussing the idea with friends and family as well as lead vocalist from the most recent lineup, Jenna Sanz-Agero, it was agreed that it was the right decision for the three surviving definitive members to carry on as VIXEN.
Gardner commented: "We've been hearing the fans ask for this and while it will never be the same without Jan, we believe in our hearts it's what she would have wanted."
Joining forces with their JSRG bandmate, guitarist Gina Stile, VIXEN will perform at select festivals and showcase dates in 2014.
The first official VIXEN performances will take place on the Monsters Of Rock cruise, departing from Miami, Florida on March 29, 2014.
Kuehnemund was only 51 years old at the time of her death.
In 1987, "Edge Of A Broken Heart" climbed the Billboard chart to the Top Ten and VIXEN had hit after hit. EMI suddenly had the only platinum-selling all-female rock band of its time on their roster. Dubbed "MTV Darlings", the hits kept coming with "Cryin'", "How Much Love", "Love Is A Killer" and "Not a Minute Too Soon". The band earned credibility as they opened up for superstars, including OZZY OSBOURNE, DEEP PURPLE, SCORPIONS and BON JOVI, to name a few. A live performance on the "Arsenio Hall" television show sealed their credibility with the fact that these girls could play.
VIXEN's original members Gardner, Kuehnemund, Pedersen and Petrucci appeared together on VH1's "Bands Reunited" in October 2004 to reminisce about their start on L.A.'s Sunset Strip and their rise to fame in the late 1980s, before the onset of grunge in the early 1990s displaced metal at the top of the charts. They also took part in a short performance for the program.

I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN: 'Beloved' Album Details Revealed
 Australian metalcore outfit I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN will release its first album in six years, "Beloved", on February 18, 2014 in the U.S. via Epitaph Records.
By their own admission, I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN have endured a decidedly checkered past. Over the years the band saw multiple vocalist changes and other personnel exchanges, side-project sojourns and moonlighting in other bands, hiatuses and break-ups. Yet through it all, their musical output both live and on record has remained thoroughly inspired.
For several years, the band lay dormant, as members went on to play in other bands. In 2011, I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN reclaimed their sound, style, history, and legacy with an all-new lineup, and original member Jona Weinhofen, who spent time with BLEEDING THROUGH and BRING ME THE HORIZON. Joined by new screamer Jamie Hope (ex-RED SHORE), Shane O'Brien on drums (DEEZ NUTS), Kevin Cameron on guitar, Benjamin Coyte on bass, and of course, Jona bringing vocal choruses, guitar and keyboard to the mix.
I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN entered the studio in 2013 in Gothenburg, Sweden with Fredrik Nordström (BRING ME THE HORIZON, AT THE GATES, IN FLAMES, DIMMU BORGIR, ARCHITECTS) to record "Beloved".
"We've really extended ourselves," says Weinhofen. "But we've done it in a way where it's tasteful and it makes sense with the music. It's not like we’ve gone from sounding like a metalcore band to sounding like DIMMU BORGIR. It still sounds very much like PROM QUEEN."

DEIMOS Announce New Singer; To Re-Record Vocals For New Album
 Italian metallers DEIMOS introduce their new singer, Andrea Serafini (ETERNAL WINTER, SAINTSINNER).Thanks to the addition of this new member, Deimos found its “best-incisive” lineup, and is ready to get back to work on their upcoming LP.
In fact the band, right after the final completion of the works on the new album, Beyond, had to face the decision of separating from its former singer, due to personal critical problems coming to light after that point. Thus, Serafini will re-record the vocals for the album, causing a delay in release. New date to be announced.

NIGHTWISH's TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN Reveals His Top Three Musical Influences (Video)

NIGHTWISH released its new DVD, "Showtime, Storytime", on November 29 as a limited 2Blu-ray + 2CD digipack, limited 2DVD + 2CD digipack, limited 2CD digipack, 2LP (colored) in gatefold and an exclusive Nuclear Blast mailorder edition.
"Showtime, Storytime" contains NIGHTWISH's entire August 3 performance at the Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany. The show, which was played in the front of 85,000 screaming metalheads, was directed by Ville Lipiäinen, filmed with seventeen cameras and has a total running time of 85 minutes. The second disc consists of a 120-minute tour documentary, "Please Learn The Setlist In 48 Hours", also directed by Ville Lipiäinen, with no shortage of drama or overall madness. Also, there is a 16-minute NIGHTWISH Table Hockey Tournament, filmed on tour. In addition, there are two music clips: "I Want My Tears Back" (live at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland) and "Ghost Love Score" (live in Buenos Aires). The Wacken Open Air appearance was the first of the three final shows of NIGHTWISH's "Imaginaerum World Tour", which saw the band and their Dutch singer Floor Jansen (REVAMP, ex-AFTER FOREVER) playing 104 concerts in 34 different countries, with a total audience of over 1.5 million fans around the globe. | 0 | |

DEATH ANGEL's seventh album, "The Dream Calls For Blood", sold 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 72 on The Billboard 200 chart.
DEATH ANGEL's previous CD, "Relentless Retribution", opened with 2,700 units in September 2010. The band's 2008 effort, "Killing Season", registered a first-week tally of around 2,300. This number was in line with the performance of its predecessor, "The Art of Dying", which premiered with around 2,100 copies back in May 2004.

Video: EXTREME Guitarist Performs 'More Than Words' On 'The Voice'
 EXTREME guitarist Nuno Bettencourt performed the band's hit song "More Than Words" with contestants Cole Vosbury, Will Champlin and James Wolpert on yesterday's (Tuesday, December 3) episode of NBC's hit reality singing competition "The Voice". You can watch video footage of his appearance below.
Nuno is best known for his work in the rock band EXTREME, which was nominated for a Grammy for its Billboard chart-topping hit "More Than Words". Nuno has worked on many projects including, multiple solo albums, film scores and has also worked with notable artists such as Janet Jackson, Perry Farrell, Robert Palmer and many others.
In 2010, Nuno joined Grammy Award-winning R&B artist Rihanna and became her tour lead guitarist.
"After EXTREME's early success, I got asked all the time to be on pop tours by people like Janet Jackson and others, but I always turned them down," Bettencourt told the Boston Herald. "After I got off the road in 2008, Rihanna's music director Tony Bruno called me, saying, 'I know what you're going to say, but hear me out.'
"I said to Tony, 'But there’s no guitar in Rihanna's songs,'" Bettencourt added. "He told me that's why they wanted me."

Former FIREWIND Singer APOLLO PAPATHANASIO Joins Forces With EGONAUT For RAY GILLEN Tribute
 The official video for the song "Stop!" from the Swedish rock band EGONAUT and singer Apollo Papathanasio (SPIRITUAL BEGGARS, ex-FIREWIND, ex-EVIL MASQUERADE) can be seen below.
The clip is a tribute to singer Ray Gillen (BLACK SABBATH, BADLANDS), who died on December 3, 1993 (20 years ago) of AIDS-related complications.
"Stop!" was originally recorded by PHENOMENA on their second album, "Dream Runner", in 1987.
EGONAUT released its second studio album, "Mount Egonaut", on February 27 via Transubstans Records. The follow-up to 2011's "Electric" was engineered, produced and mixed by EGONAUT and Tobias Walka, and mastered by Jens Bogren (OPETH, PARADISE LOST, KATATONIA, SOILWORK, DARK TRANQUILLITY) at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden.

 MrKruzinKenny of Kruzin Services has uploaded video footage of former W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes performing with the Hollywood, California-based hard rock band STONEBREED on November 27 at Club Vodka. Check out the clip below.
Influenced by bands like LYNYRD SKYNYRD, MOLLY HATCHET, BLACKFOOT and AEROSMITH, STONEBREED got its name through a contest on MySpace where people sent in suggestions. Singer Carlos Cruz explains: "One of the names was STONEBREED and we Googled it and no info. So we thought about it and the stone is a rock. Our type of music is almost a dying breed of hard rock with the '80s southern flare to it and a cool name to it. A stone is rock and we are different breed, so that is name we came up with. [laughs] Not a lot of bands playing our type of music which is a breed of stone. [laughs]"

KIKO LOUREIRO: 'Gray Stone Gateway' Performance Clip From 'The White Balance' DVD
 Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro's (ANGRA) June 14, 2013 concert in Sao Paulo, Brazil, was professionally filmed and recorded for DVD release. The event featured three different musical styles and chapters in his solo career — metal, progressive and Brazilian fusion music. The shows also featured special guest performers, including Virgil Donati (PLANET X, ALLAN HOLDSWORTH) on drums.
A performance clip of the song "Gray Stone Gateway", taken from the "The White Balance" DVD, can be seen below.
Kiko's latest solo album, "Sounds Of Innocence", was released in Japan at the end of June 2012 and was made available in the rest of the world in July 2012. The CD features guest appearances by Virgil Donati on drums and Felipe Andreoli (ANGRA, ALMAH) on bass. One track also features LIVING COLOUR bassist Doug Wimbish. DEICIDE: 'End The Wrath Of God' Video Released; 'In The Minds Of Evil' First-Week Sales Revealed
 "End The Wrath Of God", the new video from Florida death metal veterans DEICIDE, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's latest album, "In The Minds Of Evil", which sold 2,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release. Issued on November 25 via Century Media Records, the follow-up to 2011's "To Hell With God" was recorded at AudioHammer Studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, AUGUST BURNS RED, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, ALL THAT REMAINS, WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER).
"To Hell With God" sold 2,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release.
DEICIDE's previous CD, "Till Death Do Us Part", opened with 2,900 copies back in May 2008.

The cover artwork (see below) was taken from Australian artist Simon Cowell's painting Power Of The Mind, and offers a fitting face to the album's 11 tracks.
Steve Asheim recently told Decibel magazine about the band's working relationship with Suecof: "It's awesome! I've known Jason since '08. I had been going out to do the ORDER OF ENNEAD records with him. The last DEICIDE record we did with Mark [Lewis], but I've known Jason a long time, so I asked him if he was into it. He said, 'Absolutely!' I wanted to get one done ovith him before something happens. You never know."
Regarding the lyrical themes covered on the new DEICIDE album, Asheim said: "[The lyrics] are typical Glen Benton. Blasphemous, brutal rhetoric. We're going to get down and dirty this Blasphemous, brutal rhetoric. We're going to get down and dirty this time around, so expect the lyrics to be brutal."
According to Asheim, longtime fans will pick up on nuances inspired by the almighty "Legion" effort. "Jason wanted to capture the 'Legion' feel," the drummer said. "We're wanting Glen's vocals to sound more old-school. So, it's a bit of the new with a little throwback action."
As for DEICIDE's time at Audiohammer, Asheim said: "It's pretty cut-and-dried these days. I've known Jason a few years. I kind of know his methodology, how he works. It's a far drive, so we'll spend two or three nights there. Once we knock it out, we'll end up partying. We repeat that the next day."

 "Mummified Ante Mortem", a brand new song from Bulgarian death metallers ENTHRALLMENT, can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below. The track comes off the band's fourth album, "The Voice Of Human Perversity", which will be released in early 2014 via Rebirth The Metal Productions and Grindhead Records. The CD was recorded at Murder Sound Studio in Bulgaria and was mastered by guitarist-turned-producer James Murphy (DEATH, OBITUARY, TESTAMENT, CANCER, KONKHRA, DISINCARNATE).

Former MEGADETH Guitarist MARTY FRIEDMAN: 'Inferno' Album Teaser
 Perhaps the most revered lead guitarist in thrash metal history, Marty Friedman — whose groundbreaking work with MEGADETH, CACOPHONY and as a solo artist has influenced legions of players around the globe — is putting the finishing touches on a new studio album, "Inferno".
Tentatively set for a spring release, the CD — Friedman's first original material in four years, and his first album in more than a decade that will be released simultaneously worldwide — will feature what Friedman feels is the heaviest, most intense playing of his career.

"I'm extremely proud of the work I've done with CACOPHONY and MEGADETH, but I was never interested in stopping there," Friedman says. "'Inferno' is the album that fans of my work with those two bands have always wanted me to make. I've finally made it, and completely on my own maniacal terms."
As Guitar World recently revealed in an exclusive in-studio feature, "Inferno" will include several collaborations with players influenced by Friedman, including Alexi Laiho (CHILDREN OF BODOM), REVOCATION guitar whiz David Davidson and the flamenco/metal acoustic duo RODRIGO Y GABRIELA. In addition, the album includes Friedman's first songwriting collaboration with Jason Becker since the pair played together in the pioneering duo of guitar mayhem CACOPHONY.
"On the guests' songs, each would write a song from scratch, and then I would arrange it and add my parts to it," Friedman says. "That way, we were both invested in it, and it’s a little bit of a deeper experience than just banging out a guest solo."
Make no mistake, though — "Inferno" is unquestionably a Marty Friedman album, and one he plans to tour behind extensively (including his first U.S. performances since 2003). Furthermore, it features what Friedman told Guitar World is "the most intense writing and playing I can do," with the goal of "go(ing) completely ape-shit and smok(ing) everything else I've ever done."
"I wanted to create a new landmark to which my future music will be compared," Friedman elaborates further. "That idea of just going completely balls-out — knowing what the full potential of my music and my playing could possibly be, and actually making it a reality — was what drove me through the whole process."
Just as he changed the game in the worlds of metal and guitar once before with his revered solo debut "Dragon's Kiss", Friedman now raises the bar to a new level for a new generation with "Inferno". More information on the album will be revealed in the coming weeks.

DANKO JONES: 'Legs' Video Released
 The official video for DANKO JONES' latest single, "Legs", can be seen below. With acclaimed and often controversial Canadian director Bruce LaBruce at the helm, they've produced a visually captivating video by mirroring the works of Pierre Molinier and applying an artistic-yet-eccentric use of sexuality. LaBruce, who is best known for his sexually charged and culturally challenging productions, has been looking forward to working with the band for a long time.
"I've known Danko and John for many years, and I went to many DANKO JONES shows when they were first starting out in Toronto and in New York," he says. "After reconnecting with Danko last year at his book launch, we decided it was finally time for me to do a video for them."
The "Legs" video iis in line with the direct vision LaBruce had to create a spectacular and unexpected visual representation of the song.
"Danko suggested their song 'Legs', and for some reason I immediately thought of some of my sexy and leggy acquaintances in the M-F transsexual community.
"I really love the work of the famous photographer Pierre Molinier, whose gender bending photographs have influenced a variety of artists, so I decided to pay tribute to his work in the video."
Alongside LaBruce was art director Kenny Baird who, together with LaBruce, has worked notably with Floria Sigismondi on some of her most successful music videos, to help recreate the style and mood of Molinier. This out-of-the-box thinking has resulted in a striking and unique video to join the long list of video installments the band has made over the years including the "Below The Belt" trilogy and their documentary "Bring On The Mountain" (both directed by The Diamond Brothers). Danko says, "Why this collaboration with Bruce LaBruce didn't happen sooner is beyond me. From writing the liner notes to our second release, to using our song in his 1999 movie 'Skin Flick/Skin Gang', Bruce's connection to our band is irrefutable." This past year the band has been touring extensively. Not only have they sold out shows all over Europe and Canada, they have finished their two biggest U.S. tours to date; supporting VOLBEAT across the country as well spending 5 weeks on the road with the 2013 Uproar festival. They've also reached their highest ever radio ratings in the U.S. with the single "Just A Beautiful Day" peaking at no. 26 on the Active Rock charts. This new collaboration with LaBruce is paving a new road of artistic creations for the band.

SILENT FORCE: 'Circle Of Trust' Video Released
 "Circle Of Trust", the new video from SILENT FORCE, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's studio album in nearly seven years, "Rising From Ashes", which will be released on December 13 via AFM Records.
After a lengthy break, the band founded and led by guitarist Alex Beyrodt finally returns with a new studio album. And its title couldn't be more appropriate, as many thought that the group had disbanded and would be gone forever, especially after Beyrodt's success with his classic hard rock band VOODOO CIRCLE and joining the lineup of both PRIMAL FEAR and SINNER. But now SILENT FORCE are finally back... with full force.
The band's new vocalist is no other than Michael Bormann – in his case it could be said "old/new," because he already sang on the first (and only) album of the SILENT FORCE predecessor THE SYGNET (1998). Mat Sinner (bass), Alessandro Del Vecchio (keyboards) and drummer André Hilgers complete the new lineup.
Beyrodt comments: "For me, 'Rising From Ashes' is not just another new SILENT FORCE record. The long break was necessary to rebuild the band and get rid of all false ascendancy. The new lineup speaks for itself, so does 'Rising From Ashes'."

 Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH will release their long-awaited new album, "The Satanist", on February 3 in the U.K., February 4 in North America and Poland, February 5 in Japan, and February 7 in the rest of the world. "The Satanist" was produced by BEHEMOTH, Wojtek and Slawek Wieslawscy and Daniel Bergstrand at Hertz Studio. The CD was mixed by Matt Hyde (SLAYER) and mastered by Ted Jensen (METALLICA, AC/DC) at Sterling Sound in New York City. The cover art for "The Satanist" was painted by renowned Russian painter and occultist Denis Forkas. The paint used included some of Nergal's own blood. Additional art and design was completed by Metastazis (PARADISE LOST) and Zbigniew Bielak (WATAIN, GHOST).
"I wanted to incorporate some of my DNA into the art," Nergal told Australia's Heavy magazine about having his blood included in "The Satanist" artwork.
"This album seems to be so defining of who we are now as people and as individuals, and considering all the instances in recent years, [we wanted] to make it more 'ours' than it is usually."
In a recent interview with Revolver magazine, Darski described BEHEMOTH's new songs as "very atmospheric" and "very emotional." "Think BURZUM meets NEW ORDER meets KILLING JOKE," he added. But at the same time, fans shouldn't expect the album to sound too far removed from BEHEMOTH's past efforts. "Take SLAYER, for example," Darski said. "Whatever genre they deal with, they still end up sounding like SLAYER. Even when they were flirting with nu-metal, it was a SLAYER record. Same with BEHEMOTH."
According to Darski, at least some of the inspiration for the new BEHEMOTH album came from his five-month bout of leukemia he overcame in January 2011, after receiving a bone-marrow transplant. "When I was in the hospital, I was collecting experiences and emotions," he said. "I'm pretty sure that it's coming out now. There are moments I catch myself thinking about how my state was back then. It was me versus life, me versus death. It definitely changed my thoughts a lot. It's 100 percent being reflected in the record and songs I'm writing nowadays. I'm way more radical than I used to be."

ELUVEITIE Parting Ways With Longtime Violinist MERI TADIC
 ELUVEITIE will amicably part ways with longtime violinist Meri Tadic at the end of 2013. The "Eluveitie & Friends III" festival, which will take place on December 28 in Frauenfeld, Switzerland, will mark her final appearance with the Swiss folk metal act. States the band: "'There is an end to all things' is a saying. Nevertheless, having to say goodbye is never easy.
"Meri has been an important part of ELUVEITIE for 11 years; we have played hundreds of shows around the globe together!
"We will miss Meri, but foremost we want to say: Thank you for 11 years spent together!
"Every ending means a new start and a new chance.
"We are looking forward to working with Meri's successor very much and to have new musical influences this way.
"We are in the midst of a creative working progress for our new album. In this sense, this means: Excitement and creative mode: ON!" Adds Meri: "After 11 years of ELUVEITIE, I have decided to go a new way and leave the band.
"I have lived a wonderful and unique time with this band. On stage and during our countless journeys, there have been difficult, demanding times as well.
"My decision has nothing to do with IRIJ and the album I released in January.
"Many of you know that IRIJ was founded years ago but that it never had any influence on the band. Also, my album release has nothing to do with the time of my departure. This really is a coincidence. Still, I will be working with all my strength to move forward musically, and thus I now focus on the new output, the first live shows, rehearsals, new influences and possibilities.
"It is not easy to find the right words.
"The past 11 years have been a magical time; through and through and I have lived and enjoyed them with all my heart.
"A part of me will surely keep on living within ELUVEITIE, 'cause this has never been just a band but lifeblood to me. Therefore, I want to thank all of our wonderful fans around the world at first. Tommy T. Baron; CORONER/ex-KREATOR guitarist). According to the band, Vetterli "record[ed] drums, guitars and vocals and also produc[ed] and mix[ed] the record. NASHVILLE PUSSY: 'Up The Dosage' Track Listing Revealed
 American rockers NASHVILLE PUSSY will release their new studio album, "Up The Dosage", on January 21, 2014 in North America, in Germany on January 17, 2014 and in the rest of Europe on January 20, 2014 via Steamhammer/SPV. It will be made available as a limited digipak edition (including two bonus tracks and a poster), double gatefold LP edition with colored vinyl, standard version and download.
According to a press release, "Up The Dosage" picks up seamlessly where their 2009 release "From Hell To Texas" left off. TRIBUNE Release 'Insectoid' Lyric Video
 Vancouver, BC’s TRIBUNE have released a new lyric video, for the track 'Insectoid', featured on the band's third full-length record, Tales, out via their indie label Corpse Corrosion Music.
The nine-track concept album has been inspired by the writings of some of the world’s most renowned authors, including H.P. Lovecraft, H.G. Wells, Homer among many others, but the result is strictly Tribune. Exploring a more melodic and progressive sound than ever before, but still staying true to the group’s extreme aggression roots, Tales, the follow-up to 2011’s Elder Lore/The Dark Arts, demonstrates Tribune's brawn and brains with a collusion of extremity and accessibility.
As the band’s appetite for more extreme metal increased, bands like CARCASS, DEATH and AT THE GATES began bleeding into their melting pot of influences, resulting in a fresh take on their fine metal sound, which can be heard echoing in the depths of Tribune's Tales.

RANDY BLYTHE's Book Gets Title, Tentative Release Date
 According to Amazon.com, Da Capo Press has set a June 24, 2014 North American release date for LAMB OF GOD vocalist Randy Blythe's memoir, "Dark Days: My Tribulation And Trials". Random House has purchased the foreign rights to the book and will act as publisher in the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
The memoir, which puts emphasis on the past year of Randy's life, is an incredible, harrowing, heartbreaking, and redemptive story told in Blythe's already well-recognized writing style.
It seems that almost every major media outlet has attempted to righteously cover the story of Blythe's arrest, incarceration, trial, and acquittal for manslaughter in the Czech Republic last year, but now, the man at the center of it all unveils the truths of the ordeal, personally detailing every aspect in his own words. No ghost writers, no co-authors, just Randy Blythe himself.
The rights to Blythe's book were sold to Da Capo executive editor Ben Schafer by Marc Gerald at The Agency Group.
"While I've dreamed of being a published author almost since I began to read, I never imagined my first book would center around such a sad topic," says Blythe. "Sometimes though, life unexpectedly provides you a story that needs to be told. I believe this one does (for several different reasons, not just for the benefit of myself), so I will tell it with the respect and dignity all involved deserve. This will be a good read, I promise you, and I hope some good comes of it."
Added Schafer: "I knew that Randy was a master vocalist and lyricist but it turns out he is a vivid and visceral prose writer as well.
"Regarding his arrest and trial in the Czech Republic, Randy handled a frightening and heartbreaking situation with courage, grace, and humility, and we at Da Capo Press are honored to have the opportunity to have a part in telling his story."
Da Capo Press, a member of American publishing company the Perseus Books Group, is an excellent home for Blythe's memoir, having already published several other books by heavy metal greats like Tony Iommi (BLACK SABBATH), Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR), Rex Brown (PANTERA, DOWN, KILL DEVIL HILL) and Al Jourgensen (MINISTRY). Prague, Czech Republic's High Court upheld Blythe's "not guilty" verdict on June 5 in connection with the death of a fan three years ago. The court's decision is final.
A three-judge panel on March 5 acquitted Blythe of manslaughter in the death of 19-year-old Daniel Nosek.
Blythe was facing the possibility of conviction and a long-term jail sentence after a May 2010 incident in which Nosek, who attended a LAMB OF GOD performance in Prague, died almost a month later, allegedly from injuries sustained when he was thrown off the stage.
Though Blythe faced up to 10 years in prison, during the closing argument, prosecutors only asked the judge for the minimum sentence of five years. | 0 | |

Video Premiere: New Teaser For ALTER BRIDGE's Massive 'X' Box Set
 ALTER BRIDGE will celebrate its 10th anniversary on January 6 with the release of "Alter Bridge X", a massive, 27-disc box set that will be limited to just 3,000 copies worldwide. The set will include all four ALTER BRIDGE studio albums, along with DVD, Blu-ray, and vinyl audio copies of "Live From Amsterdam" and "Live At Wembley", including a 3D version of the latter. Also in the box will be every webisode to date, hours of unreleased interviews and documentary footage, a coffee table book, a signed poster, and much more.
The complete set will contain 16 DVDs/Blu-rays, seven CDs and four vinyl discs.
The hardcover coffee table book will contain more than 100 pages of exclusive photos spanning the group's decade-long career.
The 3,000 copies will be split between 1,500 for Europe, 1,000 for the U.S. and 500 for the rest of the world. Any copies that remain unsold after a pre-order period will be offered for general sale.

ALTER BRIDGE recently completed a headlining tour of Europe in support of its latest album, "Fortress", which featured the Active Rock Top 15 single "Addicted To Pain". ALTER BRIDGE was started by the three instrumental members of CREED and guitarist Mark Tremonti told The Pulse Of Radio how ex-MAYFIELD FOUR singer Myles Kennedy became the final piece of the puzzle. "When we first started the band, we were desperately looking for a singer, and my buddy had brought me a MAYFIELD FOUR CD and, you know, hearing the CD, I was blown away — this guy's, you know, not doing anything right now and he's this good?" he said. "I made demos and sent 'em his way, and he sang over them and he seemed to be into the songs and we loved what he did and he flew down January 2, 2004, and we've been a band ever since."
