ELUVEITIE Parting Ways With Longtime Violinist MERI TADIC
 ELUVEITIE will amicably part ways with longtime violinist Meri Tadic at the end of 2013. The "Eluveitie & Friends III" festival, which will take place on December 28 in Frauenfeld, Switzerland, will mark her final appearance with the Swiss folk metal act. States the band: "'There is an end to all things' is a saying. Nevertheless, having to say goodbye is never easy.
"Meri has been an important part of ELUVEITIE for 11 years; we have played hundreds of shows around the globe together!
"We will miss Meri, but foremost we want to say: Thank you for 11 years spent together!
"Every ending means a new start and a new chance.
"We are looking forward to working with Meri's successor very much and to have new musical influences this way.
"We are in the midst of a creative working progress for our new album. In this sense, this means: Excitement and creative mode: ON!" Adds Meri: "After 11 years of ELUVEITIE, I have decided to go a new way and leave the band.
"I have lived a wonderful and unique time with this band. On stage and during our countless journeys, there have been difficult, demanding times as well.
"My decision has nothing to do with IRIJ and the album I released in January.
"Many of you know that IRIJ was founded years ago but that it never had any influence on the band. Also, my album release has nothing to do with the time of my departure. This really is a coincidence. Still, I will be working with all my strength to move forward musically, and thus I now focus on the new output, the first live shows, rehearsals, new influences and possibilities.
"It is not easy to find the right words.
"The past 11 years have been a magical time; through and through and I have lived and enjoyed them with all my heart.
"A part of me will surely keep on living within ELUVEITIE, 'cause this has never been just a band but lifeblood to me. Therefore, I want to thank all of our wonderful fans around the world at first. You have been a most priceless enrichment to my life and I will always think back happily to the times we have been through and to all the passion I have seen burning in your eyes, fists and faces! Thanks for celebrating us every single night! Without you, we would never been around!!!

ELUVEITIE's latest album, "Helvetios", sold 4,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 143 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD landed at position No. 3 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
"Helvetios" was released in Europe on February 10, 2012 via Nuclear Blast RecordsNew Sound Studio in Pfäffikon, a municipality in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland, with producer Tommy Vetterli (a.k.a. Tommy T. Baron; CORONER/ex-KREATOR guitarist). According to the band, Vetterli "record[ed] drums, guitars and vocals and also produc[ed] and mix[ed] the record. Most folk instruments and also vocals [were] recorded by Anna Murphy and Marco Jencarelli at the Soundfarm studios in Lucerne."

NASHVILLE PUSSY: 'Up The Dosage' Track Listing Revealed
 American rockers NASHVILLE PUSSY will release their new studio album, "Up The Dosage", on January 21, 2014 in North America, in Germany on January 17, 2014 and in the rest of Europe on January 20, 2014 via Steamhammer/SPV. It will be made available as a limited digipak edition (including two bonus tracks and a poster), double gatefold LP edition with colored vinyl, standard version and download.
According to a press release, "Up The Dosage" picks up seamlessly where their 2009 release "From Hell To Texas" left off. And what is more: the quartet's five-year hiatus seems to have done frontman Blaine Cartwright (vocals, guitar) and Ruyter Suys (guitars) good — all 13 new songs (plus two bonus tracks) sound like they were catapulted into to the public from a fountain of youth, rocking in typical PUSSY style. Blaine Cartwright is rightly proud of and unmistakably happy about the new material. "None of the previous NASHVILLE PUSSY albums have been as diverse and at the same time consistent," he said. "Everything sounds even bigger and better, yet raw and authentic through and through. This is our 'Back In Black'!"

NASHVILLE PUSSY came together in 1996. TRIBUNE Release 'Insectoid' Lyric Video
 Vancouver, BC’s TRIBUNE have released a new lyric video, for the track 'Insectoid', featured on the band's third full-length record, Tales, out via their indie label Corpse Corrosion Music.
The nine-track concept album has been inspired by the writings of some of the world’s most renowned authors, including H.P. Lovecraft, H.G. Wells, Homer among many others, but the result is strictly Tribune. Exploring a more melodic and progressive sound than ever before, but still staying true to the group’s extreme aggression roots, Tales, the follow-up to 2011’s Elder Lore/The Dark Arts, demonstrates Tribune's brawn and brains with a collusion of extremity and accessibility.
As the band’s appetite for more extreme metal increased, bands like CARCASS, DEATH and AT THE GATES began bleeding into their melting pot of influences, resulting in a fresh take on their fine metal sound, which can be heard echoing in the depths of Tribune's Tales.

RANDY BLYTHE's Book Gets Title, Tentative Release Date
 According to Amazon.com, Da Capo Press has set a June 24, 2014 North American release date for LAMB OF GOD vocalist Randy Blythe's memoir, "Dark Days: My Tribulation And Trials". Random House has purchased the foreign rights to the book and will act as publisher in the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
The memoir, which puts emphasis on the past year of Randy's life, is an incredible, harrowing, heartbreaking, and redemptive story told in Blythe's already well-recognized writing style.
It seems that almost every major media outlet has attempted to righteously cover the story of Blythe's arrest, incarceration, trial, and acquittal for manslaughter in the Czech Republic last year, but now, the man at the center of it all unveils the truths of the ordeal, personally detailing every aspect in his own words. No ghost writers, no co-authors, just Randy Blythe himself.
The rights to Blythe's book were sold to Da Capo executive editor Ben Schafer by Marc Gerald at The Agency Group.
"While I've dreamed of being a published author almost since I began to read, I never imagined my first book would center around such a sad topic," says Blythe. "Sometimes though, life unexpectedly provides you a story that needs to be told. I believe this one does (for several different reasons, not just for the benefit of myself), so I will tell it with the respect and dignity all involved deserve. This will be a good read, I promise you, and I hope some good comes of it."
Added Schafer: "I knew that Randy was a master vocalist and lyricist but it turns out he is a vivid and visceral prose writer as well.
"Regarding his arrest and trial in the Czech Republic, Randy handled a frightening and heartbreaking situation with courage, grace, and humility, and we at Da Capo Press are honored to have the opportunity to have a part in telling his story."
Da Capo Press, a member of American publishing company the Perseus Books Group, is an excellent home for Blythe's memoir, having already published several other books by heavy metal greats like Tony Iommi (BLACK SABBATH), Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR), Rex Brown (PANTERA, DOWN, KILL DEVIL HILL) and Al Jourgensen (MINISTRY). Prague, Czech Republic's High Court upheld Blythe's "not guilty" verdict on June 5 in connection with the death of a fan three years ago. The court's decision is final.
A three-judge panel on March 5 acquitted Blythe of manslaughter in the death of 19-year-old Daniel Nosek.
Blythe was facing the possibility of conviction and a long-term jail sentence after a May 2010 incident in which Nosek, who attended a LAMB OF GOD performance in Prague, died almost a month later, allegedly from injuries sustained when he was thrown off the stage.
Though Blythe faced up to 10 years in prison, during the closing argument, prosecutors only asked the judge for the minimum sentence of five years. | 0 | |

Video Premiere: New Teaser For ALTER BRIDGE's Massive 'X' Box Set
 ALTER BRIDGE will celebrate its 10th anniversary on January 6 with the release of "Alter Bridge X", a massive, 27-disc box set that will be limited to just 3,000 copies worldwide. The set will include all four ALTER BRIDGE studio albums, along with DVD, Blu-ray, and vinyl audio copies of "Live From Amsterdam" and "Live At Wembley", including a 3D version of the latter. ALTER BRIDGE recently completed a headlining tour of Europe in support of its latest album, "Fortress", which featured the Active Rock Top 15 single "Addicted To Pain". ALTER BRIDGE was started by the three instrumental members of CREED and guitarist Mark Tremonti told The Pulse Of Radio how ex-MAYFIELD FOUR singer Myles Kennedy became the final piece of the puzzle. "When we first started the band, we were desperately looking for a singer, and my buddy had brought me a MAYFIELD FOUR CD and, you know, hearing the CD, I was blown away — this guy's, you know, not doing anything right now and he's this good?" he said. "I made demos and sent 'em his way, and he sang over them and he seemed to be into the songs and we loved what he did and he flew down January 2, 2004, and we've been a band ever since."

THE QUIREBOYS: 'Mother Mary' Video Released
 "Mother Mary", the new video from U.K. rockers THE QUIREBOYS, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's seventh studio album, "Beautiful Curse", which was released on June 24 via Off Yer Rocka Recordings. A single, "Too Much Of A Good Thing", preceded the full-length CD on May 15. The band's first CD since 2008’s critically acclaimed "Homewreckers & Heartbreakers" was produced and mixed by the legendary Chris Tsangarides (JUDAS PRIEST, GARY MOORE, THIN LIZZY), who promises a modern sound with old-school values.
In an interview with Rushonrock, THE QUIREBOYS guitarist Paul Guerin stated about working with Tsangarides: "I didn't know Chris personally before these sessions, but, of course, I knew of him and all the fantastic work he's done in the past. Well, I thought I knew his body of work! But we were listening to [BBC] Radio 2 the other day and it seemed like every other song he'd pipe up and say he'd played his part in this and that. But more importantly he's a thoroughly nice chap. And he cooks us tea."
THE QUIREBOYS are gearing up for an extensive unplugged U.K. tour which begins at the end of January. The intimate shows will include classic tracks, deep cuts and new material, with the band promising "surprises, banter and stories" along the way.

HIGH ON FIRE: 'Slave The Hive' Video Released
 The official video for HIGH ON FIRE's brand new single titled "Slave The Hive" can be seen below. As part of the band's Scion A/V-sponsored headlining tour, HIGH ON FIRE dropped the new single which marks the first new music from the California metal champions since the spring 2012 release of "De Vermis Mysteriis". A limited-edition seven-inch single is available at all tour dates.
The previously announced Scion A/V-presented HIGH ON FIRE tour is running from November 10 through December 12. Norwegian rock sextet KVELERTAK, who have had one of 2013's buzziest hard rock releases with the Kurt Ballou-produced (CONVERGE) album "Meir", are opening all dates.
HIGH ON FIRE released the first official live recordings of its career with the two volume set "Spitting Fire Live", which has been hailed as "high-volume intensity" by the Austin Chronicle, "hot as the infernos" by Pitchfork and a "documentation of the band's undiminished ferocity onstage" by the SF Weekly. JIZZY PEARL Completes Laying Down Vocal Tracks For New QUIET RIOT CD
 New QUIET RIOT singer Jizzy Pearl (also of LOVE/HATE) has completed laying down vocal tracks for the band's new CD at a studio in Encino, California. The effort is expected to be released in early 2014.

QUIET RIOT recently "amicably" parted ways with singer Scott Vokoun.
Pearl will make his live debut with QUIET RIOT on New Year's Eve (December 31) in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Said QUIET RIOT in a statement: "[We] thank Scott for his past dedication and wish him much continued success."
Vokoun joined QUIET RIOT in March 2012 after the band played several shows the previous month with ex-MONTROSE vocalist Keith St. John following the departure of Mark Huff.

QUIET RIOT singer Kevin DuBrow died in November 2007 of an accidental cocaine overdose. He was 52 years old.

Video: KVELERTAK Performs On Norwegian Rooftop
 Norwegian rockers KVELERTAK played their song "Kvelertak" on a rooftop as part of this past weekend's P3 Gull Awards in Oslo, Norway. Watch the performance below.
KVELERTAK's sophomore album, "Meir", topped the official chart in Norway. The CD, which sold 1,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release, was issued on March 26 via Roadrunner Records. It was produced by CONVERGE's Kurt Ballou and features cover artwork by John Dyer Baizley.
Asked how the band came up with the concept for the "Bruane Brenn" music video, vocalist Erlend Hjelvik told About.com Heavy Metal: "It was Vidar [Landa, guitar] and Marvin's [Nygaard, bass] idea. I guess we didn't have time to be in the video ourselves, so they came up with an idea of having a bunch of kids in the video. A friend of ours, who's a Norwegian movie director, Stian Kristiansen, then kind of developed the idea and made a small story out of it. It turned into a fun and great looking video that fits really well with the lyrics."
Regarding the recording process for "Meir", Erlend said: "I thought it was even more fun than last time. Mostly because we've all gotten more confident and experienced from all the touring we've done on our first album. Also Kurt is an awesome guy to work with; he's professional and has a great ear for what things should sound like."

DARK TRANQUILLITY: Quality Footage Of Vienna Concert
 Quality fan-filmed video footage of DARK TRANQUILLITY's November 28 performance in Vienna, Austria can be seen below.
DARK TRANQUILLITY's tenth studio album, "Construct", was released on May 27 via Century Media Records. The CD was mixed by Jens Bogren (PARADISE LOST, OPETH, KATATONIA) at his Fascination Street studios in Örebro, Sweden.
DARK TRANQUILLITY filmed a music video for the song "Uniformity" on April 13 with Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company, who has previously worked with DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL, IN FLAMES, SONIC SYNDICATE and KAMELOT, among others.
In a recent interview with Louder Than Hell, DARK TRANQUILLITY guitarist Niklas Sundin stated about "Construct": "A typical effect of being locked up in a studio for 2-3 months listening to every single second of the new songs over and over again is that you're getting extremely tired of the material. At the same time as you know that you've created something great, there's a part of you that never want to hear the songs again. Also, the collaborative and democratic nature of DARK TRANQUILITY means that there always are riffs and ideas that a single member doesn't find too interesting according to his personal preferences, so what normally happens directly after a studio session is that I sit down and think that the result is OK, but if X and Y would have been done differently, it would have been even better (again: for my own tastes). In this case, there were two main parameters that were different: The members' opinions on the material were a bit more uniform — i.e. no great clashes in taste — and the actual mixing process brought out a lot of details and nuances in the songs that we previously weren't aware of. The result is that I for a change actually was a massive fan of 'Construct' from the first time I heard the final mix."
Asked if the band had a direction or "game plan" when entering the studio to make "Construct", Niklas said: "There never is a defined game plan as such; we usually start writing songs without knowing exactly where the music will take us. Every time we've tried to decide that the next album should go in a certain direction, it usually ends up being the complete opposite, ha ha! This time, though, we all were certain that we needed to do something different in order to find the motivation to even make a new album. CYNIC: 'Kindly Bent To Free Us' Track Listing Revealed
 Legendary progressive rock innovators CYNIC — consisting of guitarist/vocalist Paul Masvidal, drummer Sean Reinert and bassist Sean Malone — will release their new album, "Kindly Bent To Free Us", on February 14, 2014 via Season Of Mist. The CD was produced by CYNIC at L.A.'s Perfect Sound Studios. The effort was engineered by Jason Donaghy (BAND OF HORSES, FEIST, ROB ZOMBIE, RYAN ADAMS), mixed by R. Walt Vincent (PETE YORN, LIZ PHAIR, TOMMY KEENE) and mastered by Maor Appelbaum (FATES WARNING, SEPULTURA, CATHEDRAL, INQUISITION, HALFORD).
The artwork for "Kindly Bent To Free Us" was created by longtime and sadly late CYNIC artist Robert Venosa.

About the new material, Reinert said: "It's a bold new sound for CYNIC and marks a gigantic leap in the band's progression. We've had a lot of time to let this material develop and gestate, and it finally feels ready to be unleashed on the world. I've been in trio mode with Malone and Masvidal flushing out a zillion and one details, and couldn't be happier about what's happening with these songs. They are truly alive!"
In a February 2012 interview with Ireland's Molten magazine, Masvidal described the band's new music in the following way: "It's almost like, I don't know how to explain it, but if I had to put it in a box it's more sci-fi, futuristic and alien but at the same time very song-driven. It's kind of like, to me, coming into CYNIC's body more. It feels very modern and at the same time it just feels really cool. I'm big in the space. It's definitely new. It's not like anything we've done before. It's a new color, a new space. I think people will really take note of even the guitar stuff. I'm really shifting gears, I'm trying things in a different way and the way stuff is played. It's a new space for CYNIC, for sure. It definitely sounds like us, except completely new."
CYNIC's latest EP, "Carbon-Based Anatomy", was released in November 2011 via Season Of Mist. The CD artwork was designed by the great Robert Venosa, the artist behind the covers of CYNIC's previous releases "Focus", "Traced in Air" and "Re-Traced".
CYNIC was joined by Brandon Giffin on bass and Max Phelps on guitar and vocals during the group's North American and European tours in support of "Carbon-Based Anatomy".

MANES - Teeth, Toes, And Other Trinkets Anthology Details Revealed
 MANES has released more information on their first release under Debemur Morti Prouductions.
The Norwegian multi-facial entity gathered a precious collection of 11 unreleased, obscure, alternate versions and hard-to-find tracks found in their archives and dating back to the time around the albums Vilosophe (2003) and How The World Came To An End (2007).
This anthology will be titled Teeth, Toes And Other Trinkets and the visual art was imagined and realized by talented French artist Dehn Sora (ULVER, BLUT AUS NORD, NEUROSIS).

A few words from the band about this special release: "Before we truly come back to life with Manes, we figured we'd dig up some dead stuff for everyone to enjoy. This is a collection of odds and ends that on the surface might seem to appeal mostly to the most die-hard completest, but listening to it ourselves we find it works surprisingly well on its own. It is at times very lo-fi and not at all polished, but swamped in atmosphere and nostalgia, at least for us."

DOWN FROM THE WOUND To Release Violence And The Macabre In February
 Comatose Music has announced the February 4th release of Violence And The Macabre from Philippine brutal death metallers DOWN FROM THE WOUND. After signing with Comatose in October 2012, Down From The Wound went to work on the follow-up to their 2007 debut, Agony Through Rituals Of Self Purification. The results see the band return with 50 minutes of flesh-shredding Southeast-Asian brutality with old-school atmosphere and organic production.
Down From The Wound are no strangers to the death metal scene; they have been punishing eardrums since 2002 with their nasty combination of inhuman breakdowns and technical riffing reminiscent of bands like DISGORGE, GORGASM and LUST OF DECAY. ANATOMY OF I Lineup Change Announced
 ANATOMY OF I, the band featuring vocalist/guitarist Michael Dorrian, welcome brothers Fred Ras (guitar, backing vocals) and Roddy Ras (bass) from the band HAECCEITY to the lineup.
''Although primarily a pick-player in his own band, Roddy's approach to bass and fingerstyle picking reminds me most of the late great Roger Patterson (ATHEIST)'', says Michael Dorrian. ''Fred will help solidify our live shows with his tight rhythm playing and backing vocals.''

COCHISE - New Album Teaser Streaming
 Metal Mind Productions recently announced the release of a brand new album from Polish rock/metal band COCHISE. The album entitled 118 is scheduled for release on February, 24th 2014 in Europe and March, 11th 2014 in the USA (via MVD). Check out a teaser below:
The band was formed in 2004 in Bialystok, Poland. The current line-up includes: Pawel Malaszynski on vocals (he is also a very successful movie actor in Poland), Wojtek Napora on the guitar, Radek Jasinski on the bass guitar and Czarek Mielko on the drums. So far, they have released a demo “9” plus two full-length releases - Still Alive in 2010 and Back To Beginning in 2012.
According to a press release, on their studio albums, Cochise perfectly blend energetic songs enriched with heavy, almost metal sounds with more delicate, atmospheric ones. And that’s exactly what you can expect from their forthcoming release 118. The new material will also prove that they can remain true to the rock tradition and still enrich their sound with fresh and original ideas.
"Coincidentally, the new album marks the band's tenth anniversary," Radek Jasinski, the band’s bassist, comments. “It will be our third release and, on the one hand, it will show how far we have gone since our very beginning and, on the other, it will prove that, despite the changing music trends, it’s still us - the same musicians who still love to play rock music”.
Pawel Malaszynski, the vocalist, reveals the meaning of the album’s title: "Due to my work as an actor, I spent the last two years of my life travelling. Different cities, different hotels, where I can also work on new music. For some reason, the hotel rooms I stayed in were al-ways number 118. For me, the room 118 means the exchange of energy. It’s really important who you're sharing it with. It’s a claustrophobic, intimate place, filled with emotional waste - which you could compare to a peeling wallpaper - that has seen everything our minds cannot understand. It’s a room where we sleep with our eyes wide open, hidden in the corners behind spider webs of doubts. It’s a rare type of insanity… still cherished and still wanted… buried behind the door to the room 118."

BRIAN MAY Still Discovering Unheard FREDDIE MERCURY Material
 According to The Pulse Of Radio, Brian May says that there's far more unreleased Freddie Mercury material than originally thought. May has been restoring the unfinished Mercury music with producer William Orbit and "transferring the material from tape to digital at the highest resolution available so that they can work with the tracks and for archiving purposes." May told Mojo, "There's more in there than we thought, in the QUEEN source archive. We've found some Freddie vocals, some demos. . . at the moment we're working on spinning some new music around those, which is what we did for the [posthumous 1995] 'Made In Heaven' album, which was possibly the best QUEEN album we ever made. . . I'm a little nervous of saying there's an album there, but there's certainly a few tracks." May and drummer Roger Taylor recently put finishing touches on some of Mercury's 1983 demos with Michael Jackson. In addition to that, the other "lost" Mercury tracks in the QUEEN vaults include collaborations with David Bowie, Andy Gibb, and Rod Stewart.
Shortly before his death, Freddie Mercury was amazed by QUEEN's longevity and massive global fanbase. "I must say, I didn't really think we were going to last that long," he said. "You never think about it. You don't get up every morning and think, 'My God, this is going to be over.' You just carry on and come up with fresh ideas and think about what to do. So, as long as we don't take it too seriously. Earlier on we used to take it very seriously and I think it got a bit tooserious. And I just thought to myself, we should try and inject some fun into it, y'know?"
