ONSLAUGHT: New Song '66 F**king 6' Available For Streaming

"66 Fucking 6", a brand new song from British thrashers ONSLAUGHT, can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below. The track comes off the band's sixth album, "VI", which will be released on September 20 via AFM Records. The follow-up to 2011's "Sounds Of Violence" was mixed by Thomas "Plec" Johansson (TIAMAT, SCAR SYMMETRY) at Panic Room studios in Skara, Sweden.

Comments ONSLAUGHT guitarist Nige Rockett: "Well, the new album, 'VI', is finally complete and ready to roll on September 20th, and man, it has exceeded all our expectations, by a long long way!! We really pushed ourselves to the limits in making this record and I think that truly shines through in the final results.

"'VI' is the most brutal and technical album ONSLAUGHT has ever made, no question. It's old school, it's contemporary and it's fucking aggressive in the extreme, with a few big surprises thrown in for good measure!

"We've gone about the whole album-making process with a completely different approach and mindset this time around, ranging from the artwork (by Pär Olofsson) through to the final mixes with Thomas Johansson, who I must single out for mention along with our drummer Michael Hourihan for really upping the ante in the ass-kicking stakes!

"We're feeling kind of proud right now and pretty confident the fans are gonna dig it too!"

"VI" track listing: 01. A New World Order 02. Chaos Is King 03. Fuel For My Fire 04. Children Of The Sand 05. Slaughterize 06. 66 Fucking 6 07. Cruci-Fiction 08. Dead Man Walking 09. Enemy Of My Enemy

A bonus track on the limited digipak and 2LP vinyl will be a re-recorded version of "Shellshock" (taken from the 1989 album "In Search Of Sanity"), featuring legendary Japanese thrashers UNITED.

RED FANG: New Song 'No Hope' Available For Streaming

Portland, Oregon's RED FANG will release its third studio album, "Whales And Leeches", on October 15 via Relapse Records. Beyond the standard CD, LP and digital formats, the effort will be available in deluxe CD, deluxe double vinyl and deluxe digital editions which will feature two bonus tracks (see the full track listing below). Numerous exclusive packages including a Halloween pack and multiple vinyl colors are available via Relapse.com.

RED FANG have always been masters of the hard rock hook and with "Whales And Leeches", they deliver 11 killer, instantly classic anthems.

"Whales And Leeches" was produced by Chris Funk (DECEMBERISTS) and mixed by Vance Powell (THE WHITE STRIPES, RACONTEURS, KINGS OF LEON). This same team worked on RED FANG's last album, "Murder The Mountains", which Alternative Press magazine hailed as "a near-masterpiece of tangled tar pit riffs and whisky-and-bong-hit vocals" (April 2011).

"Whales And Leeches" sees RED FANG further maturing into top notch songwriters and musicians. With the help of guests Mike Scheidt (YOB) and Pall Jenkins (THE BLACK HEART PROCESSION), the album further propels RED FANG into the upper stratosphere of hard rock and metal elite.

RED FANG will kick off the first leg of its fall headlining U.S. tour on October 9 on the West Coast (see confirmed dates below). The fall run will feature support from HELMS ALEE, DOG SHREDDER and GAYTHEIST.

* The Making Of "The Dream Calls For Blood"

DEATH ANGEL's North American headlining tour in support of "The Dream Calls For Blood" will kick off on October 18 in San Francisco. Support on the trek will come from 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, BATTLECROSS, REVOCATION and DIAMOND PLATE.

"We are so excited to announce this upcoming tour," commented DEATH ANGEL vocalist Mark Osegueda.

"We worked so hard writing, and recording this record! Especially writing this while on the road for the last three years of touring. And it reflects the triumphs, and mainly hardships, of all we went through while touring. The anger, perseverance, and energy was captured on the recording of 'The Dream Calls For Blood'.

"This tour is the PERFECT springboard to launch off of and back on the road; hungrier and more focused then ever! With a lineup of bands handpicked by us, you’re basically sonically ravaged from the moment the lights dim at the beginning of the night until the lights turn back on at the end! I'm confident every band on this bill plan on sending you home feeling like you've survived a massacre that you can't help but brag about.

"Look forward to feeding off each other's energy!

"Stay hungry! Stay thrash! See you on the road, in the pit, and at the bar!!!"

The San Francisco, Hollywood and Ramona gigs are considered CD-release shows and everyone that purchases a ticket will also receive a copy of the new DEATH ANGEL album at the show.

DEEP PURPLE To Release 'Above And Beyond' Single

DEEP PURPLE will release the track "Above And Beyond" as a CD-single and on seven-inch vinyl on October 25 in Europe. The single artwork, based on the original graphic work of Black Dwarf Designs, can be seen below.

"Above And Beyond" comes off DEEP PURPLE's latest album, "Now What?!", which sold 4,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 115 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"Now What?!", the 19th studio album from DEEP PURPLE, was released in North America on April 30 via earMUSIC, the Hamburg, Germany-based international rock label which is part of Edel Group.

After various songwriting sessions in Europe, the band recorded and mixed the album in Nashville, Tennessee with producer Bob Ezrin (KISS, PINK FLOYD, PETER GABRIEL, ALICE COOPER, KANSAS). The CD contain 11 tracks, including "Out Of Hand", "Weirdistan", "Uncommon Man" and "Above And Beyond". The latter song references the band's late keyboard player, Jon Lord, in the lyric "Souls having touched are forever entwined."

In a recent interview with RadioMetal.com, DEEP PURPLE singer Ian Gillan stated about the songwriting process for "Now What?!": "There were no rules. We started with nothing, except the right attitude; that's all. Every day, it was the same routine: the guys walked in at noon and we all worked until 6 o'clock on the writing sessions. We just stopped at 3 o'clock for a cup of tea. After 6 o'clock, we would go home, have a shower, some dinner and go to bed early, even if I'm always up in the middle of the night, writing lyrics. We start at 10 o' clock the next morning when we're recording. But the writing is always noon until six. It starts with nothing. Ian [Paice, drummer] and Roger [Glover, bassist] would start jamming, playing for an hour non-stop and trying out some rhythms or grooves. They would stop and say, 'No, that's not good,' then start something else and say, 'Remember that. Maybe on Thursday we'll try this again and maybe it'll be a song.' Everything emerged from jamming sessions."

Ex-SKYLARK Singer KIARA LAETITIA To Release New EP Featuring VIRGIN STEELE Cover

Spider Rock Promotion has inked a deal with KIARA LAETITIA, ex-vocalist for SKYLARK (and writer, model and actress, too), for the release of her first solo album Fight Now.
The EP will contain four songs: 'Fight Now', 'I’m Not God', 'Miss You Again' and a cover version of VIRGIN STEELE’s classic 'Victory Is Mine'. The EP has been entirely written, arranged and produced by Kiara Laetitia herself and David DeFeis who took a break from his numerous engagements with Virgin Steele to work with Kiara.

The songs have been recorded and mixed at The Hammer of Zeus studios in Long Island by David DeFeis while Ryan Smith (AC/DC, IRON MAIDEN, JOE SATRIANI, BEYONCÉ) at Sterling Sound NYC took care of the mastering duties.

“This work is dark yet melodic and positive at the same time,” says Kiara. “I’ve been through one of the toughest moments in my life and I came out of it as a new person, stronger I should say and this is how the idea for Fight Now came about. It’s probably the most positive song and lyrics I’ve ever written in my entire life! We must never give up ‘cause we just have one life and we have to make the best of it in any way we can, we gotta fight for what’s important, for existence itself…that’s the message."
As for the cover version of 'Victory Is Mine', Kiara explains: “It’s one of my favorite tracks from Virgin Steele and I thought it was the right conclusion for this EP, like I’m saying ‘I’ve been through a lot, now I’m positive about the future ‘cause ‘Victory Is Mine’ if I want it’. All the bad moments in life show us that they’ll pass, that we can be victorious in the end.”

The EP will have its worldwide release on November 22nd via Spider Rock Promotion and 'Fight Now' will be the first single. This work will anticipate a full album due by the end of 2014.

SKILLET Becoming More Of A Family Affair

According to The Pulse Of Radio, SKILLET has always made music a family affair, with frontman John Cooper and his wife, keyboardist Korey Cooper, bringing their kids on the road for several years now. But the Coopers expanded on that recently by including both their son and daughter on their latest album, "Rise". John Cooper told Loudwire how that came out, explaining, "We were putting together these interludes, because we wanted to tell a story, and I thought the songs went really well together. I was trying to figure out what to do between these songs. In my house we have a workout/studio room. I was on the treadmill and my wife and daughter walked in. My daughter was holding a microphone. I asked what they were doing, and my wife said she had an idea. It turned out really, really well. It was something we weren't planning on."

Asked how his daughter felt hearing herself on the record, Cooper said, "She thinks it's really cool. Of course that meant we had to get my son in there somewhere, too, because he was really excited."

Cooper told The Pulse Of Radio that he enjoys seeing SKILLET fans now bringing their kids to the band's shows. "It's very cool to go to a concert and just see a dad with his 12-year-old son, and they're both rocking out to SKILLET because their dad bought our first record when he was in high school or whatever," he said. "You go to a BON JOVI show or a NICKELBACK show, AEROSMITH, that's what you see — you see generations of fans. And SKILLET is still, you know, quite young, but we have those generations. I think that that's really awesome."

"Rise", SKILLET's ninth studio album, is also the group's first concept record. It debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard album chart back in June and features the singles "Sick Of It" and "Not Gonna Die".

SKILLET is currently on the Carnival Of Madness tour with SHINEDOWN and other acts, with the trek stopping in Morrison, Colorado on Tuesday (September 10) and winding down in Puyallup, Washington on September 18.

The quartet will then head out on a month-long European tour as openers for NICKELBACK beginning in late October, with Russian dates penciled in for December.

IRON MAIDEN Singer Denies Manufacturing Drones For U.S. Military

IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson has denied being involved in an airship venture to manufacture drones with a contract to supply the U.S. Army.

The blog Dorset Eye published an article titled "Bruce Dickinson: Rock'n'Roll Warmonger" in which the IRON MAIDEN frontman was called out for his "acceptance from the U.S. military of a contract to manufacture 'lighter-than-air' drones. The contract is believed to be worth anything up to $500,000,000, according to Conference Speakers International."

In a written statement to NME.com, a spokesperson for IRON MAIDEN described the article as "spurious" and said: "This is a totally inaccurate and malicious piece of writing that seems to have stemmed from an unfortunate mistake in terminology on a South African website that the writer of said blog has since used as a starting point and catalyst to go off on a flight of sheer fantasy.

"Both Bruce Dickinson and IRON MAIDEN's manager Rod Smallwood were early investors in, and remain great supporters of, Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV), a company that has nothing whatsoever to do with drones, 'lighter than air' or otherwise!"

The statement continued: "As with many far-sighted technological advances, early adopters and financial supporters tend to be military-based as they have the resources to invest and develop, be that everything from space-travel to medicine. Possible military use of HAVs in future could be for heavy-lifting, transportation or high altitude detection of IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices), or similar, thus saving lives, both military and civilian.

"Rather than being involved in attacks in the Third World, as this writer has claimed in such an erroneously dramatic and defamatory manner, HAVs are designed to offer much needed assistance to civilians, businesses and governments that would be unavailable otherwise, due to the unique nature of these incredible vehicles."

NORSE Part Ways With Frontman

Frontman/guitarist Treelo Herrington from Australian black metallers NORSE has issued the following update:

"I would like to make it known that I have resigned from my position in Norse. There are no disputes to be settled between myself and Frog, nor are there any grievances with the other members. I have left as a result of my own choosing, and for one simple reason: I no longer feel extreme music in my heart. As cliche' as that may sound, I feel it would be against Norse's best intentions to have me on board, and thus I have let it sail ahead without me. Norse is an extreme metal band, and an extreme metal band it shall remain.
Watch out for future material! Thank you everyone for all your support over the years. I've had a great time."

SPIDER ROCKETS Premier 'Going Down' Video

New Jersey's SPIDER ROCKETS have unveiled their first official music video, for their single 'Going Down'.
'Going Down' is the follow-up to the group's first foray into the video arena, a combination of production and live clips for their anthem, 'Scream'. It was the first track recorded for the group's current release Bitten, which went live on YouTube before the album's completion. 'Scream' tallied over 45,000 views without a faint whisper of promotion.

'Going Down' has knocked out some national heavyweights on a number of cage-matches at active rock radio including FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, PENNYWISE and HELLYEAH. "It's mind blowing that we could take on those guys and win! And win we did... Over and over it seemed," revels a stunned Helena Cos, the group's lead singer.
The video, produced by film graduate, Jason Nappi, was a zero-budget endeavor. Johnny Nap, the group's lead guitarist, admits, "it started with some real nice guys at an old warehouse in Jersey who let us in as a favor, and a bunch of offbeat common license footage that fit the theme of the song. We didn't want to take ourselves too seriously."

"We heard VAN HALEN shot 'Jump' for just $400!", sets up drummer, Dan Prestup, "...and we thought, we don't have that kind of money!" laughs bassist, Greg Manning.

Spider Rockets celebrate the release of their new video when they perform tonight, Friday the 13th of September, at Mojo Main in Newark, Delaware. October tour dates will be released next week.

TRIBUNE To Release Tales Album; 'From Funeral To Funeral' Track Streaming

Over the past nine years, Vancouver, BC’s TRIBUNE has been progressively combining its myriad of influences into a genre-shattering whole and etching away at a sound all its own. Now, the band’s efforts have culminated in their third full-length record, Tales, set for release October 29th via their indie label Corpse Corrosion Music, which is available for pre-order here.
The nine-track concept album has been inspired by the writings of some of the world’s most renowned authors, including H.P. Lovecraft, H.G. Wells, Homer among many others, but the result is strictly Tribune. Exploring a more melodic and progressive sound than ever before, but still staying true to the group’s extreme aggression roots, Tales, the follow-up to 2011’s Elder Lore/The Dark Arts, demonstrates Tribune's brawn and brains with a collusion of extremity and accessibility.

As the band’s appetite for more extreme metal increased, bands like CARCASS, DEATH and AT THE GATES began bleeding into their melting pot of influences, resulting in a fresh take on their fine metal sound, which can be heard echoing in the depths of Tribune's Tales.
Tales tracklisting:

Chapter I – 'Tales'
Chapter II – 'Insectoid'
Chapter III – 'The Butterfly Effect'
Chapter IV – 'From Funeral To Funeral'
Chapter V – 'Horror'
Chapter VI – 'King of Ithaca'
Chapter VII – 'Vengeance'
Chapter VIII – 'Red Crescent'
Chapter IX – 'That Bleakest Shore'

EUDAIMONY Confirm Release Date For Futile Album

Swedish/German band EUDAIMONY, which features current and former members of NAGLFAR, DARK FORTRESS, NACHTREICH and SECRETS OF THE MOON, have confirmed a November 29th release date for their new album, Futile, via Cold Dimensions.
The 8-track album features a guest appearance by ANTIMATTER’s Mick Moss. The newly completed artwork for the album is by Ben Borucki (Irrleuchten) from the German band SONIC REIGN.
Futile tracklisting:

'Ways To Indifference'
'Mute'
'A Window In The Attic'
'Futile'
'Portraits'
'Cold'
'Godforsaken'
'December’s Hearse'

'Futile':
Eudaimony was formed in 2007 by Matthias Jell (ex-DARK FORTRESS) and Marcus E. Norman (Naglfar, BEWITCHED, HAVAYOTH, ANCIENT WISDOM), and, having written and recorded three songs quite early on, Eudaimony has been somewhat tardy in completing and releasing their debut album, due mainly to the commitments of the various members to their other projects, as well as some label issues. With a new label in place, Eudaimony was free to begin recording Futile in March 2013.

As well as Jell on vocals and Norman on guitars, bass, synthesizer and programming, Eudaimony’s line up consists of Jörg Heemann (Secrets Of The Moon) on drums and Peter Honsalek (Nachtreich) on viola and piano. Given the sick, disturbing and negative subject matter the band has chosen to write about, it is inevitable that Eudaimony would be slotted into the black metal and depressive black metal genres, a misconception frontman Jell is keen to correct:

“We realise that unfortunately the black metal tag is going to follow us around given our respective backgrounds, but Eudaimony really sits uneasily in this kind of categorisation. Our music, our lyrics and our visual concepts deal with emotional hopelessness and the futility of life, rather than the usual subject matters you tend to find in black metal and its various sub-genres”.

More information about Eudaimony can be found on the band’s Facebook page here.

ALLEGAEON - Guitarist Ryan Gilsan Departs Band

"Well the proverbial cat seems to be out of the bag," states Colorado's ALLEGAEON. "Ryan (Gilsan, guitarist) is no longer in Allegaeon and is rocking with a new project. Just so everyone knows it was very mutual and there's NO hard feelings at all, in fact we're excited to hear his new craziness in this monster of a group."
"It's a win/win situation in the fullest extent of the term. He gets to do what he wants and we get to do what we want. Which I guess is a win/win/win cause we are both happy and you guys get two rad bands!! If anyone came out to see our tour this summer you'll know we've got things in hand, and shall be announcing not only a new guitar player but our full time drummer, along with new album details in the coming months. Our best wishes to Ryan, we know you'll kill it, and to the Legion: Hold on to your butts, shit's about to get real!!!"

Steroids Found In AS I LAY DYING Frontman's Home

A two-minute video report from NBC 7 San Diego on yesterday's (Monday, September 16) court hearing to determine whether AS I LAY DYING frontman would stand trial on charges he tried to hire someone to kill his estranged wife can be seen below.

Lambesis will be arraigned on the charges October 22, which is when a date for his trial will be set.

According to NBC 7 San Diego, investigators found a lock box in Lambesis' Carlsbad, California home containing "a lot of different quantities" of male enhancement-type drugs, male libido-type drugs and estrogen blocking drugs — approximately 30 to 40 vials along with different types of pill packages. In addition, investigators found more than $12,000 in cash.

Lambesis' defense attorney, Tom Warwick, previously blamed Lambesis' steroid use for the alleged murder-for-hire plot. He also revealed that Lambesis was going through steroid withdrawal while in custody.

Lambesis' attorney said the "gym culture" led to "changes in [the singer's] physiological and mental status," with Tim's bodybuilding obsession causing him to go from 170 to 220 pounds after first taking supplements, then steroids. "[He] was not the same person. He was irritable and lost God."

Prosecutors allege Lambesis had twice told a man at a gym that he wanted his wife killed, then met with an undercover detective known as "Red", and gave the agent an envelope containing $1,000 in cash, photographs of his wife, and the security gate code to her house. He also allegedly told the agent the dates he would be with the couple's three adopted children, in order to give himself an alibi.

A number of witnesses testified for the prosecution during today's hearing, including the undercover officer who posed as a hitman. The officer explained that Lambesis told him, "Just to clarify, just so you know, I do want her dead."

Investigators say the undercover cop operation was staged after Lambesis told a man at his gym at Pure Fitness back on April 23 that he wanted his wife killed. Lambesis was allegedly complaining that she was making life difficult for him, that it was hard for him to see his children and that it was impossible for them to complete their divorce.

"[Lambesis said that] he wasn't allowed to visit his kids, he wasn't allowed to see his kids, he wasn't allowed to take his kids out of the state to go on tour with him, and that angered him," the undercover officer testified. "And the fact that his wife was gonna get a large portion — up to 60 percent — of his income [as part of a divorce settlement]."

A PERFECT CIRCLE: 'Three Sixty' Collection to Include First Studio Recording In Decade

A PERFECT CIRCLE, the multi-platinum rock band helmed by Maynard James Keenan (TOOL, PUSCIFER) and Billy Howerdel (ASHES DIVIDE), will release "Three Sixty", the outfit's first greatest-hits collection, on November 19 via Universal Music Enterprises (UMe). The release also includes A PERFECT CIRCLE's first new original, studio recording in a decade with the inclusion of "By And Down", a song written after the band returned from their self-imposed hiatus for a series of live performances throughout 2010 and 2011. "Billy and I created A PERFECT CIRCLE out of a now long-running friendship, and I think the music we have made reflects that personal connection and has given us the ability to further develop and trust our intuition," explained Keenan. "I feel 'Three Sixty' is an accurate representation of that friendship and those instincts."

In a brand new intervie with RollingStone.com, Keenan stated about "Three Sixty": "Of course, record companies always have their little clause in their contract, about their right to release a greatest-hits record. I think that can be kind of weird sometimes, when you see 'the greatest hits,' no, no — 'the greatest greatest hits.' Releases by a record label that the band had nothing to do with, and there's several versions of the same thing, over and over again. That's kind of why we did the DVD and the box set. If you're going to release a greatest hits, we should also offer something that's not just the old recordings, rearranged. But on that greatest hits, there's going to be the studio version of 'By And Down', which is the new track that we've been working on, that we never quite got around to recording." A PERFECT CIRCLE formed in the late '90s with Keenan and Howerdel making up the core of the band with a number of well-known musicians having recorded and/or toured with the outfit, including James Iha (SMASHING PUMPKINS), Troy Van Leeuwen (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, FAILURE), Paz Lenchantin (ENTRANCE BAND, ZWAN), Jeordie White (MARILYN MANSON), Josh Freese (THE VANDALS, DEVO) and Tim Alexander (PRIMUS). A PERFECT CIRCLE also recently announced the release of a limited-edition box set titled "A Perfect Circle Live: Featuring Stone And Echo". The collection, which focuses on the band's live outings from 2010-2011 includes a full-length DVD of the outfit's August 2011 Red Rocks concert (with accompanying audio) as well as a 3-CD collection of live releases, one dedicated to each of the three studio albums from the band's discography. SLASH Says 'It's All Good' That FERGIE Named Her Baby AXL

The Pulse Of Radio reports: Although Slash and BLACK EYED PEAS singer Fergie became good friends after collaborating on a song for Slash's first solo album, when it came time to name her new baby with husband Josh Duhamel, Fergie went with the first name of Slash's former GUNS N' ROSES bandmate, Axl Rose. Were Slash's feelings hurt at all? Asked by TMZ what he thought of Fergie calling her son Axl, Slash said, "I think it's really cool, I actually talked to [Fergie and Josh] yesterday. It's all good . . . who am I to judge?" Slash told The Pulse Of Radio a while back how he first met Fergie and what he thought of her. "I did a BLACK EYED PEAS fundraiser called Peapod, and she showed up. I'd never met her before, and I was expecting, really, I thought, a Puerto Rican girl, 'cause of the way that her songs sort of sound. And so here's this white girl from Orange County and that really sort of surprised me. And then we started doing this LED ZEPPELIN song and she jumped on the vocal and it just blew my mind."

Fergie and Slash ended up recording a song called "Beautiful Dangerous" for his 2010 solo debut as well as a cover of GUNS N' ROSES' "Paradise City" that ended up as a Japanese B-side.

Slash has been working on material for his third solo outing, but is also currently doing press for "Nothing Left To Fear", the first horror film produced under his Slasher Films banner.

In addition to producing, Slash scored the film and wrote two original songs for it, with vocalist Myles Kennedy from his band singing on one of them.

"Nothing Left To Fear" opens in limited theatrical release on October 4, and hits VOD and DVD on October 8.
