FUNERAL CIRCLE To Release Debut In November
Shadow Kingdom Records will release the self-titled full-length debut from Canadian epic doomsters FUNERAL CIRCLE on November 19.
"Funeral Circle" track listing:
01. Scion Of Infinity02. Amaranthine (Wandering Dreamer)03. Corpus Of Dark Sorcery04. Tempus Edax Rerum05. The Charnel God06. Black Colossus07. Obelisk
Shadow Kingdom Records head honcho Tim McGrogran had this to say about the debut: "Epic doom metal is not the most well-known heavy metal genre. It takes a lot of heart and guts to play this style of music since the dinosaurs that started this kind of music are some of the very best bands to ever exist.
"Epic doom metal, in our opinion, started in Sweden with CANDLEMASS. Their intention was to write the first epic doom metal album. Other doom metal bands floating around back then weren't thinking about writing a doom record, they just wrote the music they liked and that sounded heavy.
"With that said, we're proud to introduce FUNERAL CIRCLE! Hailing from the icy mountains of Canada, this young and hungry band is writing some of the very best epic doom metal songs heard today.
"If you're looking for epic doom metal, there's not much out there better than this self-titled beast of an album! They're slowly clawing their way to the top of this genre. This record is loud, heavy, and raw with outstanding vocals. To top it off, if the fans voted on best album artwork, this would be the best of 2013."

METALLICA Performs At World-Famous Apollo Theater In New York City; Photos, Video Footage
METALLICA teamed up with SiriusXM radio to bring back the Mandatory Metallica channel and celebrated with a special show last night (Saturday, September 21) at Harlem's world-famous 1,500-capacity Apollo Theater in New York City.
The band's setlist was as follows:
01. Hit The Lights02. Master Of Puppets03. Ride The Lightning04. Harvester Of Sorrow05. The Day That Never Comes06. The Memory Remains07. Broken, Beat & Scarred08. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)09. Sad But True10. Orion11. One12. For Whom The Bell Tolls13. Blackened14. Nothing Else Matters15. Enter Sandman
Encore:
16. Creeping Death17. Battery18. Seek & Destroy
Fan-filmed can be seen below. Also available are photos courtesy of Theo Wargo for SiriusXM.
METALLICA will reportedly perform today (Sunday, September 22) at Yankee Stadium in New York to honor retiring Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera prior to their game against the San Francisco Giants — who happen to be METALLICA's hometown team. And why would METALLICA pay tribute to the legendary Rivera, who's calling it quits after nearly 20 years with the Yanks? Because for most of those years, the future Baseball Hall Of Famer has been coming out of the bullpen to close out games to the tune of METALLICA's "Enter Sandman" playing on the stadium's P.A. system.
According to The Pulse Of Radio, the Daily News contacted Yankees reps about the matter, but a team spokesperson would not comment on "any events surrounding Mo's ceremony."
METALLICA performed at Yankee Stadium once before, nearly two years ago in September 2011 when the "Big Four" tour with SLAYER, ANTHRAX and MEGADETH stopped there.

BACKYARD BABIES/MICHAEL MONROE Guitarist DREGEN: 'Just Like That' Video Released
BACKYARD BABIES and MICHAEL MONROE guitarist Dregen (real name: Andreas Tyrone Svensson) will release his debut solo album on September 25 via Universal Music in Sweden. The CD will be issued via Spinefarm Records in the U.K. on September 30.
The official video for the album's first single, "Just Like That", can be seen below. The song received its world premiere on August 10 on Swedish national radio P3. It was then released on August 14.
Titled simply "Dregen", this 10-track release is a modern take on an era when rock music came ready-dipped in decadence and glamor; when the commercial and the credible could sit comfortably side by side; when albums were a great 35 minutes over 2 sides of vinyl rather than fleshed out with filler; when backing vocals were big and brash and (feather) boa'd; when heels & musicians were generally high; when emotion and entertainment were the driving forces, and when lifestyle was king…
Produced by Dregen and Pär Wiksten (THE WANNADIES), Dregen's first solo venture in a 25-year career that has seen him at the core of such internationally acclaimed acts as BACKYARD BABIES and THE HELLACOPTERS features all new material, and is a contemporary and inventive distillation of the Stockholm-based guitarist's far-reaching record collection.
As well as being a key and original member of both BACKYARD BABIES and THE HELLACOPTERS, Dregen has also lent his skills to projects as diverse as INFINITE MASS ('70s-inspired, "Scarface"-lovin' sleaze-funk), SUPERSHIT666 (spontaneous rock'n'roll distortion with various WILDHEARTS and HELLACOPTERS members keepin' the needle maxed) and Michael Monroe's touring and recording band (the sleeve concept for MM's forthcoming "Horns And Halos" album is his, too), so it's no great surprise that the aforementioned collection is both lovingly-compiled and built on punk as much as rock, jazz as much as blues…
"Y'know, that was the hardest part," recalls Dregen. "I was staring at my records for over a year, thinking, 'How the fuck can I get the vibe from KISS, SLAYER, THE BEASTIE BOYS and Miles Davis into one single record?' But I did it, and it sounds very much like me. It's a high-energy rock 'n' roll album with the greatest songs I have written and recorded."
As for the musicians involved, Nicke Andersson (former ENTOMBED mainman/drummer, co-founder of THE HELLACOPTERS and now the driving force behind IMPERIAL STATE ELECTRIC) plays drums, bass and rhythm guitar on three tracks, where he also gets a co-write credit. Other featured musicians include drummer Karl Rockfist (MICHAEL MONROE, DANZIG), and bassists Sami Yaffa (HANOI ROCKS, NEW YORK DOLLS, JOAN JETT, MICHAEL MONROE) and John Calabrese (DANKO JONES), with Dregen taking care of all guitar and vocal parts, and Danko Jones and Swedish female singer Titiyo adding occasional support at the mic.
However, it's the reunion with Nicke that will doubtless mean most to rock 'n' roll fans the world over…
"It's true," reflects Dregen, "Something magic always happens when we play and write together. I don't know what it is, but there is definitely something special there. Nicke is one of my all-time favorite drummers, and we haven't really worked this closely since the early HELLACOPTERS days…"
Recorded for the most part in Pär Wiksten's Hospital1 studio in Stockholm, with mixing handled by Michael Ilbert at the legendary Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin, these 10 tracks come in a variety of hues and colours, moods and textures, veering from hard-hitting blues ("Flat Tyre On a Muddy Road"), through sinewy, snake-hipped funk ("6-10") and onto kool, KISS-inspired strut 'n' roll ("Mojo's Gone").
Like Dregen the man, "Dregen" the album is hard to sum up in an easy phrase; what we have here is a multi-tiered collection of from-the-heart songs — songs packed with retro-chic, glam-rock glitter, and shapes 'n' sounds that are modern without chasing trend.
"Dregen" track listing:
01. Divisons Of Me02. Just Like That03. Flat Tyre On A Muddy Road04. Gig Pig05. Pink Hearse06. Bad Situation07. One Man Army08. 6-1009. Refuse10. Mojo's Gone
Dregen is currently assembling a touring band to take the above songs out on the road; no one is 100 per cent confirmed as yet ("They'll be great musicians, though — promise!"), but it's likely that those selected will be charged to learn a few "rusty earrings" from the Dregen past, making this a rock 'n' roll show happy to celebrate glories past whilst still keeping both eyes squarely on the road ahead. And, of course, a tattooed, white-knuckle grip on the wheel.
BACKYARD BABIES announced in November 2009 that they were going on an indefinite hiatus after completing a European tour. | 0

IRON SAVIOR To Release New Album In February
German metallers IRON SAVIOR are putting the finishing touches on the songwriting for the band's new album for a February 28, 2014 release via AFM Records. The drums for the CD will be recorded at the end of October and the completed album will be delivered to the label by November 25. The cover artwork will be created by Felipe Machado Franco (BLIND GUARDIAN, RHAPSODY OF FIRE).
IRON SAVIOR's latest album, "The Landing", was released on November 18, 2011 via AFM Records.
Asked why it took so long to release the follow-up to 2007's "Megatropolis", IRON SAVIOR mainman Piet Sielck told Sarkophag Rocks: "One reason is my former band, SAVAGE CIRCUS, which demanded a lot of my time. Once again, I had to write all of the songs and the whole production basically on my own, which was a very hard job. The second reason is the downfall of my former record label, Dockyard. After rather bad mismanagement, the company went bankrupt in 2009. Being left alone by my former partners, I faced this hell and cleaned up the mess they've left behind for almost two years. I lost a lot of money and for a certain time also my belief in music. Finally I was able to sell the remains and pay off most of the debts. Anyhow, in late 2010, I finally saw some light at the end of the tunnel and my passion for music returned. So I started writing 'The Landing'."

GHOST: Pro-Shot Footage Of ROCK IN RIO Performance
Professionally filmed video footage of GHOST's entire September 19 performance at the Rock In Rio festival in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil can be seen below.
GHOST's sophomore album, "Infestissumam", sold around 14,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 28 on The Billboard 200 chart.
The CD topped the official chart in the group's home country after selling nearly five times as many copies as the No. 2 album, MISS LI's "Wolves".
In a recent interview with ARTISTdirect, a nameless ghoul from GHOST said about "Infestissumam": "It feels way more theatrical and bombastic. In many ways, 'Infestissumam' is thematically a continuation of where [the debut album] 'Opus Eponymous' began. Whereas a lot of the thematic ideas we have in mind for upcoming albums might differ a little bit and will go in another direction. That's not to say we won't sing about the things we do and not have makeup. I'm just saying it will evolve into other things in the future. On this record, I feel like we're doing a lot of things we intended to do on the first naïvely being we could pull off a show like that at that point — which we couldn't. Now, we have a little bit more muscle. The attendance is probably more in accordance with being able to present a show like that."
Regarding the lyrical themes covered "Infestissumam", the nameless ghoul said: "Thematically we knew the major difference between the first and the second albums as much as we do between the second and the third. It's a bit ironic now. Jumping up to the contemporary controversy with our album artwork and the refusal of printers to print the art is funny because the whole record is about the presence of the devil. Obviously, it's about how mankind relate to the presence of the devil. Historically, it's always been the female body that has taken the fall for that, which is what happened in this case. The problem was a vagina in the art not the inverted crosses."
GHOST was forced to modify its name in the U.S. to GHOST B.C. for "legal reasons."

TWILIGHT OF THE GODS: 'Children Of Cain' Lyric Video Released
The lyric video for the song "Children Of Cain" from the heavy metal "supergroup" TWILIGHT OF THE GODS can be seen below. The track comes off the band's debut album, "Fire On The Mountain", which will be released on September 27 in Europe and October 1 in North America via Season Of Mist.
TWILIGHT OF THE GODS is: Alan Averill (PRIMORDIAL, DEAD SOVEREIGN, BLOOD REVOLT) on vocals, Nick Barker (ex-CRADLE OF FILTH, ex-DIMMU BORGIR, ex-TESTAMENT, ex-EXODUS) on drums, guitarists Rune Eriksen (AURA NOIR, ex-AVA INFERI, ex-MAYHEM) and Patrik Lindgren (THYRFING), and Frode Glesnes (EINHERJER) on bass.
"Fire On The Mountain" track listing:
01. Destiny Forged In Blood02. Children Of Cain03. Fire On The Mountain (1683)04. Preacher Man05. Sword Of Damocles06. The End Of History07. At Dawn We Ride
The effort will be made available as a CD digipack and a limited-edition LP via the Season Of Mist e-shop.
In a recent interview with Metal Hammer magazine, Averill stated about "Fire On The Mountain": "We grew up with and through most of our reference points. This is just what just came out when we play. We didn't need to go, 'We need to write songs that sound like MANOWAR,' but we all love MANOWAR. There's a fine line to walk between pastiche, parody and putting of the old gonzoid heavy metal charm into it, but not being too self-knowing in that sense."
Asked if it was weird to switch over to singing classic metal lyrics, and finding out how he related to those lyrics, Averill said: "Definitely. The thing is that it's full of the gonzoid heavy metal idioms — the swords and the steel and the blood and the fire. It was a difficult balance to find, to strike between being full of a certain glory and beauty and charm of old heavy metal, without it being too wink-wink, nod-nod, self-parody, but really genuinely meaning it because that's what we all love, and treating it with the sort of kid gloves and respect that it deserves."
He continued: "But yeah, it was difficult trying to find a different voice, another kind of lyric but at the same time, if you take, say, the title track, 'Fire On The Mountain', that's my Dio tribute and it sounds like a RAINBOW songtitle. But yeah, the song is about the siege of Vienna by the Ottoman empire in 1683 where King Leopold I and the Holy Roman See defeated the Turks, and those, I think, had a lot to do with saving the European culture and the Enlightenment and all sorts of stuff. So if you were to actually look at it, you'd go, 'Actually, there's something being said here, but it's written in heavy metal vernacular, which was handed down to us from IRON MAIDEN and whoever. But it's a challenge, for sure, and it's also a challenge to write a chorus that people could sing. You're sitting there for the first time thinking, actually, how could I write this in such a way for people at a show or at a festival to get behind it, you know? It's just a traditional, hard-rock structure, which is a breath of fresh air for all of us, because we've all, for the past 20 years, been playing extreme music and darker music to some degree, so it's a bit like something fresh for all of us, despite the fact that it's all old." | 0

DEEP PURPLE: Promotional Video For 'Above And Beyond' Single
DEEP PURPLE will release the track "Above And Beyond" as a CD-single and on seven-inch vinyl on October 25 in Europe. The single artwork was based on the original graphic work of Black Dwarf Designs.
A promotional video for the single can be seen below.
"Above And Beyond" comes off DEEP PURPLE's latest album, "Now What?!", which sold 4,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 115 on The Billboard 200 chart.
"Now What?!", the 19th studio album from DEEP PURPLE, was released in North America on April 30 via earMUSIC, the Hamburg, Germany-based international rock label which is part of Edel Group.
After various songwriting sessions in Europe, the band recorded and mixed the album in Nashville, Tennessee with producer Bob Ezrin (KISS, PINK FLOYD, PETER GABRIEL, ALICE COOPER, KANSAS). The CD contain 11 tracks, including "Out Of Hand", "Weirdistan", "Uncommon Man" and "Above And Beyond". The latter song references the band's late keyboard player, Jon Lord, in the lyric "Souls having touched are forever entwined."
In a recent interview with RadioMetal.com, DEEP PURPLE singer Ian Gillan stated about the songwriting process for "Now What?!": "There were no rules. We started with nothing, except the right attitude; that's all. Every day, it was the same routine: the guys walked in at noon and we all worked until 6 o'clock on the writing sessions. We just stopped at 3 o'clock for a cup of tea. After 6 o'clock, we would go home, have a shower, some dinner and go to bed early, even if I'm always up in the middle of the night, writing lyrics. We start at 10 o' clock the next morning when we're recording. But the writing is always noon until six. It starts with nothing. Ian [Paice, drummer] and Roger [Glover, bassist] would start jamming, playing for an hour non-stop and trying out some rhythms or grooves. They would stop and say, 'No, that's not good,' then start something else and say, 'Remember that. Maybe on Thursday we'll try this again and maybe it'll be a song.' Everything emerged from jamming sessions." | 0

MÖTLEY CRÜE: Fan-Filmed Video Footage Of Last Night's Las Vegas Concert
MÖTLEY CRÜE kicked off its second residency at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas this past Wednesday night (September 18).
Fan-filmed video footage of the second concert of the residency — which took place last night (Friday, September 20) — can be seen below.
The fall shows, dubbed "Evening In Hell", are an all-new production and the band is pushing its own envelope once again. The production was designed exclusively for The Joint in partnership with AEG Live and sees the band performing in front of just 4,000 people per show max, a far cry from the arenas MÖTLEY CRÜE is accustomed to playing.
"There is no show like this. There never has been, and there never will be," MÖTLEY CRÜE lead singer Vince Neil told Robin Leach of the Las Vegas Sun. "You've seen video fire from other rock acts on tour, but never the real thing."
Vince continued: "It's more than any rock group has ever produced or attempted. It really is entering the depths of hell. There's fire all around and fire coming down from above.
“There's no question this is the most dangerous theatrics ever created and far more than anything we expected. But, hey, this is Vegas, and we do bigger, bolder, badder, sleazier here better than any other place on Earth.
"We have the best fire tech experts in the world. This is so over the top, the only thing cool is what we do! Basically, we're setting everything on fire in a way that's never been done before."
Vince also spoke about the challenge of singing nonstop for 90 minutes. "I don't get one break," he told the Las Vegas Sun. "We start with a song from when we began 30 years ago. We've reached back over the years to old hits to match up with new hits. It's a difficult setlist for me vocally — 'Too Young To Fall In Love' is no easy song to perform."
