TOM KEIFER Joins HALESTORM On Stage For CINDERELLA Classic (Video)

Tom Keifer, best known as the singer/songwriter/guitarist of the Philadelphia-based blues-rock band CINDERELLA, joined HALESTORM on stage this past Friday night (September 6) at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, New Jersey to perform the CINDERELLA classic "Nobody's Fool". Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.

"Nobody's Fool" was the second single from CINDERELLA's 1986 debut album, "Night Songs", which was certified triple platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Of Association) for shipments in excess of 3 million copies.

Keifer's debut solo album, "The Way Life Goes", sold 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 78 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on April 30 via Merovee Records (through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group).

HALESTORM recently issued an official music video for the song "Here's To Us", the latest single off the band's 2012 sophomore album, "The Strange Case Of…"

The track is the fourth single from "The Strange Case Of…" , following "Love Bites (So Do I)", "I Miss The Misery" and "Freak Like Me". HALESTORM won the Grammy for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance in February for the chart-topping "Love Bites (So Do I)" .

EARTH CRISIS Recording New Album

Syracuse, New York-based hardcore veterans EARTH CRISIS have entered Red Booth Recording in Rochester to begin recording their next album for an early 2014 release via Candlelight Records. The CD will reportedly be mixed by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, who has previously worked with SUICIDE SILENCE, ALL THAT REMAINS, SHADOWS FALL and SOULFLY, among others.

No hardcore or metal fan can be unaware of EARTH CRISIS or the contributions the band has made to heavy music since their founding in 1989. Championing the weak and the voiceless, the band has over 200,000 catalogue sales to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Regardless of passing trends, the five-piece has maintained their vision, dedication to their craft (and causes), and most importantly respected their fans in the 20-plus years of their performing career. Founded by vocalist Karl Buechner, EARTH CRISIS has enjoyed two chapters in their musical journey. From 1991 to 2001, the straight-edge, vegan band would cultivate a global fanbase. Enduring numerous line-up changes, van accidents, and the natural up-and-down of music industry fads, the band released five full-length albums, two EPs, and two live albums before saying goodbye before a sold out audience at the sixth annual Hellfest in 2001. Six years later, the band would reunite and perform at the Maryland Metal And Hardcore Festival January 2007. It would open the door to additional performances in the U.S. and Europe, later leading to the band’s headline appearance at 2008’s Firestorm Fest. A rejuvenated EARTH CRISIS would later record two albums, "To The Death" (2008) and "Neutralize The Threat" (2011). Each followed by extensive international touring. Revealing a bit about the new album and its focus, Buechner conveys: "Lyrically this new record is going to focus strictly on an animal rights/anti-vivisection theme. Of course, this is what the band is known for, but we've actually never solely dedicated an entire album to the topic."

The CD was eventually completed with the help of STREAM OF PASSION bassist Johan van Stratum, who filled in on short notice and "did an amazing job to record and edit the bass parts," according to a press release.

Former DARK ANGEL Singer DON DOTY Joins Forces With FORBIDDEN Drummer In New Project

Former DARK ANGEL singer Don Doty has announced the formation of an as-yet-unnamed new project that will revisit the band's classic "We Have Arrived" and "Darkness Descends" albums, as well as introduce fans worldwide to new material. Joining Doty in the new group is drummer Sasha Horn, who has previously played with FORBIDDEN, AVA INFERI and NOVEMBERS DOOM.

Doty and Horn have hit the ground running in an effort to start the writing process and to warm up the gears in preparation for the touring circuit. They are also considering bassists and guitarists for the new project and hope to make more announcements soon.

DARK ANGEL's management issued a statement last week accusing Don Doty of displaying a "lack of responsibility" by posting "false information" and starting "unfounded rumors" that have been "creating confusion" among the group's fans. The management confirmed that DARK ANGEL will reform for a limited number of appearances in 2014 with a lineup that will feature Gene Hoglan (drums), Jim Durkin (guitar), Ron Rinehart (vocals) and Michael Gonzalez (bass). Guitarist Eric Meyer is also expected to be involved. DARK ANGEL guitarist Jim Durkin said in a statement last month that any talk of the band's reunion was "premature," and added that "when I was last in the band, Ron Rinehart was my singer. And IF the band were to come back and continue. he would STILL be my singer. He was our rock when we needed him and there is NO WAY I would do this without him. He and I talk daily and are as close now as ever. If anything, all this talk has brought us all back into more frequent contact! Which is a wonderful thing."

DARK ANGEL released two albums with Don Doty on vocals — 1984's "We Have Arrived" and 1986's "Darkness Descends" — before he exited the group and was replaced by Ron Rinehart (after a brief stint with Jim Drabos in 1987). The band issued two more studio LPs — 1989's "Leave Scars" and 1991's "Time Does Not Heal" — before calling it quits in 1992. Rinehart, Hoglan and Meyer reassembled DARK ANGEL more than a decade ago but were forced to abandon their reunion plans after health issues reportedly put an end to Rinehart's singing career.

Asked what he has been doing since leaving DARK ANGEL in 1987, Doty told Germany's Radio Gehacktes last month: "It's a long story, and at the same time, it's a short one. I basically started a family and showed up to my last show [with DARK ANGEL] and told the guys, 'Hey, look, [I have a] baby [on the way] and I can't be on the road and do the family thing; it was just too hard for me. There were too many beautiful women in the world and there were too many other opportunities to go off the deep end, and I just could not do that. So with that being said, I took a step back and I told the guys, 'There will be a day and I will come back and we will finish what we started."

ALICE IN CHAINS Guitarist Sells California Home For $1.45 Million

According to Zillow Blog, ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell sold his home in Studio City, California for about $1.45 million. He had listed it in June 2013 for about $1.49 million after purchasing the 2,151-square-foot home in 2005 for $1.245 million.

The single-family residence that sits on a 0.26 acre lot was built in 1936 and boasts Spanish mid-century style architecture. The home comprises of three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The listing describes the home as follows: "Walled and gated Spanish gem in prime Studio City, South of Ventura Blvd. Private entrance with long driveway to 2-car garage and charming front courtyard with lawn and garden. 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Open floor plan ideal for indoor and outdoor entertaining. Sonos sound system throughout the property, equipped with security cameras in all the right places. Living room with fireplace, dining room, and Chef's kitchen featuring center island, Viking appliances and breakfast area. Spacious master with sitting area and French doors opening to back patio. The beautiful backyard offers a tranquil setting featuring mature landscaping, pool, spa, covered BBQ area, tiled patios for a variety of sitting areas, and guesthouse with bath."

After residing in Seattle for many years, Cantrell moved to Los Angeles in mid-2003, by which time he had stopped his heavy drug use. The peculiarity of this transition would be expressed in the ALICE IN CHAINS song "Check My Brain", from the band's 2009 album "Black Gives Way To Blue".

In a 2009 interview with CNN, Cantrell stated about the move to Los Angeles: "Yeah, it's kind of a funny thing. Being from Seattle, it's pretty easy to make fun of the Southern California lifestyle, or maybe it's easy for a lot of people to take a shot at it. But this is where I ended up, and still can't believe I'm living here. But I'm digging it! No need to rock the boat, man."

Property records show Cantrell has since moved back to Washington — he bought a home in Burien for $1.35 million in March 2012.

BANGALORE CHOIR/Ex-ACCEPT Singer To Release Second Solo Album

American singer David Reece, though brought up on a diet of Conway Twitty and Tammy Wynette, has been sharing his bluesy rock voice with the world since the late 1980s. His most notable early releases were ACCEPT's 1989 album "Eat The Heat" and BANGALORE CHOIR's 1992 classic "On Target", closely followed by LPs with SIRCLE OF SILENCE and STREAM. Disillusioned with a floundering rock scene, David took a hiatus from music in the mid 1990s to follow other pursuits and dreams.

Returning in 2008 with the critically acclaimed GYPSY ROSE album "Another World", David's debut solo album "Universal Language" surfaced in 2009. The culmination of many years writing and performing, the album featured musicians including Andy Susemihl (U.D.O.), and fine songs such as the bombastic "Rescue Me", the huge "We Were Alive", the soaring ballad "Queen Of My Dreams" and the distinctly leftfield "Yellow"; a definite song for fans of COLONEL MUSTARD.

The album "Cadence" in 2010 saw the first brand new BANGALORE CHOIR material in 18 years. 2011 marked David's return to working with GYPSY ROSE founder Martin Kronlund, this time under the moniker REECE KRONLUND releasing an album simply called "Solid". The album also marked David's first ventures with lyricist Jon Wilde, who has since co-written on the third BANGALORE CHOIR album, "Metaphor", released in 2012 and now on this; David's second solo album, "Compromise" — an apt title given the amount of compromise we all face in our lives, be it working in the music industry or going about our daily grind.

With vocals recorded at KMan studios in Blaine, Minnesota and produced by Kelly Peterson, the album features a big name cast including bassist Ronnie Parkes (SEVEN WITCHES), guitarist Jack Frost (SEVEN WITCHES, SAVATAGE, METALIUM), keyboardist Paul Morris (RAINBOW, DORO, JURGEN BLACKMORE), and special guests Christian Tolle and Andy Susemihl. The mix was handled by Joey Vera (ARMORED SAINT) and Martin Kronlund, with Martin also performing full mastering duties.

The result is a peach of an album with a wide range of songs from sublime ballads "Someone Beautiful" (with music by renowned writers Tom and James Martin) to metal masterpieces "End Of It All", stomping rockers "Where My Heart Belongs" and more. David, with influences as diverse as Ian Gillan, Paul Rodgers and Chris Cornell, loves tackling a variety of styles and one listen will tell you he has the voice to pull it off. And with musicians the calibre of those here, and lyrics boasting a darn sight more intelligence than your standard clichéd rock fair, he has the firepower to back him up all the way into classic album territory.

"Compromise" recording lineup:

Guests on guitars: Andy Susemihl and Christian Tolle

"Compromise" track listing:

METALLICA: Offical Video Recap Of Kuala Lumpur Concert

Official MetOnTour video recap of METALLICA's August 21 concert at Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia can be seen below. The 18-minute clip includes a long tuning-room segment, and "Sad But True" from the show.

The band's setlist was as follows:

01. Hit The Lights02. Master Of Puppets03. Fuel04. Harvester Of Sorrow05. Fade To Black06. Ride The Lightning07. Cyanide08. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)09. Sad But True10. Orion11. One12. For Whom The Bell Tolls13. Blackened14. Nothing Else Matters15. Enter Sandman

Encore:

16. Creeping Death17. Battery18. Seek & Destroy

The members of METALLICA gave a press conference last month in Singapore, just before the band's first-ever concert in China, where they were asked how they deal with the physical demands of touring after 30 years. Lead guitarist Kirk Hammett said, "I do a lot of yoga. We're all pretty physical. [Bassist Robert Trujillo] and I like to surf. We just got off a week-long stint in Bali, surfing a lot. You know, it's important to keep maintenance on the road — eat well, sleep well, and just make sure the engine inside is running well. It's really important. 'Cause the last thing I wanna do is drop on stage." Drummer Lars Ulrich added, "We have two guys downstairs who take care of stretching us and putting us back into shape — our necks and our arms and everything. They're among the two hardest-working guys in rock and roll. So we take all that stuff really seriously. I mean, if you could see our [tour] rider, it's carrots and strange vegetables and nasty fruit juices. It's not what it was back in the day, thankfully. But yeah, we do take [staying healthy] very seriously. Absolutely."

Ulrich told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that his main concern about getting older as a musician was whether aging and other issues could eventually take their toll on him. "The thing that just freaks me out is I just don't know physically," he said. "'Jumping Jack Flash' and 'Satisfaction' — sure, I can probably play those when I'm 65. Playing 'Fight Fire With Fire' and 'Dyer's Eve' — I don't know. It's the unknown. I just don't know. And if it becomes a joke, or if it becomes just not physically possible to do, then hopefully we'll have the sense to bow out gracefully."

Frontman James Hetfield told the press in Singapore, "We'll do this until we don't wanna do it anymore; it's as simple as that. There's no use doing something your heart is not in. But for us, we love what we do and we're blessed that way."

METALLICA's next stop is Toronto in early September for the premiere of the band's new film, "Metallica Through The Never".

The 3D IMAX movie will make its world premiere on Monday, September 9 at the festival before opening on September 27 at IMAX theaters and expanding on to additional screens on October 4.

METALLICA will also play a special show at the Apollo Theater in New York City on September 21 to promote the release of the film.
