ARISE Guitarist Releases Solo Album

DRAGGING THE CASKET, the solo project of guitarist L-G Hakamo (formerly L-G Jonasson) of the Swedish death/thrash outfit ARISE, has released its debut album, "The Undead".

CHTHONIC: \'Takao\' Video Released

"Takao", the new video from Taiwanese metallers CHTHONIC, can be viewed below. The single was digitally released with a bonus track that features special English-language choruses sung by members of Finland's ENSIFERUM.

"The original version of this chorus is totally Taiwanese folk style, but the version that ENSIFERUM's singing sounds so Finnish folk! So amazing, we definitely want to share this version with our fans!" said by Doris Yeh, leader and bassist of CHTHONIC.

Yu Tien, a popular Taiwanese Enka singer, can be heard on the original version of "Takao".

"Takao" is a song about the Taiwanese soldiers recruited from the Takao harbor to fight in the Pacific War as part of the Japanese Imperial Army.

"Yu Tien's voice perfectly provide the passionate vibe of the song," Doris said, "But not just passionate, there are many kinds of emotions of these soldiers, they might be struggling, passionate, or confused. You can find all these feeling in this song."

DYING FETUS will release a limited-edition mini-LP this summer. Entitled "History Repeats…", it marks the band's 20th anniversary and sees the group covering tracks from artists who have influenced them (NAPALM DEATH, BOLT THROWER, CANNIBAL CORPSE, PESTILENCE). "History Repeats…" also includes a brand new DYING FETUS track exclusive to this release. AMEBIX: \'Knights Of The Black Sun\' Animation Video Released

Cult British underground heavyweights AMEBIX re-emerge from the darkness to release of a new single, their first new material for almost 24 years. The song is entitled "Knights Of The Black Sun" and was made available on June 3. A limited-edition 12-inch vinyl single was issued on Amebix Records, in conjunction with Profane Existence. The digital download is available through Amebix Records/Easyaction.

An animation version of "Knights Of The Black Sun" can be seen below. The video was created by the team of animator Andy Lefton and director Fin McAteer. Lefton also made a follow-up interview with AMEBIX members Rob Miller and Stig C. Miller to give a little more insight into the epic work that is the band's new album, "Sonic Mass".

BANZAI\'s Comeback Show Filmed And Recorded For Upcoming DVD/CD Release

After 24 years away from the metal scene, legendary Spanish metallers BANZAI played a comeback headlining show in front of 22,000 fans on Saturday, June 4 in Madrid.

BANZAI was one of the respected metal bands in Spain back in the '80s and 24 years they have returned with the same basic formation: Jose Antonio Manzano (also in MANZANO, EMERGENCY and NIAGARA), Salvador Domiguez (Miguel Ríos' guitarist) and David Biosca.

BANZAI's show in Madrid was recorded for a double CD and DVD, which will include bonus features.

JUDAS PRIEST To Release \'Single Cuts\' In August

On August 25, British metal legends JUDAS PRIEST will release the "Single Cuts" box set containing the band's complete U.K. CBS/Columbia singles. "Single Cuts" is testament to PRIEST's enduring influence and through the singles tells the story of one of the biggest metal bands of all time. Presented in a deluxe, numbered box, "Single Cuts" boasts a massive 52 tracks across 20 CDs, featuring original singles artwork and labels plus booklet including sleeve notes and photos.

BIOHAZARD Parts Ways With EVAN SEINFELD

Bassist/co-vocalist Evan Seinfeld has left seminal New York City hardcore/metal band BIOHAZARD.

"We have a long history together, but it's time for a change," said guitarist/co-founder Bobby Hambel. "We wish Evan well."

Scott Roberts, who played on the band's 2005 "Means To An End" album and has been part of the BIOHAZARD extended family since, will step in for Seinfeld when BIOHAZARD plays the U.K.'s Download festival on June 12, and again on June 13 at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards in London. Hambel, guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei and drummer Danny Schuler will begin scouting for a permanent replacement when they return to the U.S.

THEATRES DES VAMPIRES To Release \'Moonlight Waltz Tour 2011\' DVD/CD

Italian gothic metal band THEATRES DES VAMPIRES recorded all the shows on its recent European tour with HD cameras and professional digital audio equipment. At the moment Fabian Varesi from THEATRES DES VAMPIRES and Christian Ice from Temple of Noise studio are working together to finalize a new DVD and live CD. This new release will be produced by Aural Music/Dreamcell11 in a deluxe artbook that will contain both the live DVD and the live CD plus some brand-new unreleased songs and an exclusive roadbook of 50-plus pages. The live DVD will include the whole concert in Moscow at Plan B club, pro-recorded with multi-angle HD cameras. As a special bonus, the DVD will contain a long and exclusive backstage documentary of the whole 2011 European tour. The audio CD will have the great quality of the latest TdV productions.

According to the band, "[This is] the FIRST time ever that THEATRES DES VAMPIRES have released a live DVD recorded by a great staff with high professional equipment. As you will remember, the last DVD live from THEATRES DES VAMPIRES, 'The Addiction Tour 2006', was made using low-fi clips made by fans of the band. This time the result will be terrific, a 'must-have' for each THEATRES DES VAMPIRES fan."

VOIVOD: ROADBURN Performance Available For Streaming

Canadian metal innovators VOIVOD performed twice at this year's Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, Holland, and their main-stage concert — which took place on Saturday, April 16 — can now be streamed in its entirety at this location. THE PROJECT HATE MCMXCIX Begins Work On New Material

THE PROJECT HATE MCMXCIX — the Swedish band featuring Jörgen Sandström (vocals; VICIOUS ART, KRUX, ex-ENTOMBED, GRAVE), Lord K. Philipson (guitar; TORTURE DIVISION, ex-GOD AMONG INSECTS, HOUSE OF USHER, LEUKEMIA), Anders Bertilsson (guitar; COLDWORKER), Tobben Gustafsson (drums; TORTURE DIVISION, VOMITORY) and Portuguese vocalist Ms. Roque (a.k.a. Ruby Roque of WITCHBREED) — has commenced the songwriting sessions for its next album. Philipson states, "To beat [2011's] 'Bleeding The New Apocalypse (Cum Victriciis In Manibus Armis)' will be a monumental task, one we will, of course, accomplish.

"I am currently working on a huge bunch of things music wise and at the moment there's tons of stuff, song sketches and ideas to continue to work with, with one of these ideas already clocking in at over six minutes — meaning it looks like this one will be the first one completed for the next recording.

"We really do not have any schedules as for when to record this and it will take the time it takes to make it all answer to the standards I have for THE PROJECT HATE MCMXCIX. We haven't even discussed with Season Of Mist if they will release the next album or not; it will all show eventually. What we do know, though, is that we are determined to create another insane monster of apocalyptic visions, brutality and beauty."

Swiss industrial black metallers SAMAEL recently filmed a video for the song "Luxferre" in Gothenburg, Sweden with director Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company, who has previously worked with DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL, IN FLAMES, SONIC SYNDICATE and KAMELOT, among others. The clip can now be viewed below.

LOCK UP: \'Necropolis Transparent\' Trailer Available

Extreme metal supergroup LOCK UP will release its new album, "Necropolis Transparent", on July 1 in Europe and July 12 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was recorded in November-December 2010 at HVR Studios in Ipswich, United Kingdom and was mixed in January.

BON JOVI Guitarist Richie Sambora Checks Out Of Rehab, Due To Rejoin Band For European Tour Kick-Off Show This Wednesday

Back in April, BON JOVI guitarist Richie Sambora checked into rehab "for exhaustion and to regain his sobriety." The band reportedly supported Sambora's decision and enlisted former TRIUMPH guitarist Phil "Phil X" Xenidis to fill in on tour.

According to an update via Canoe.ca, Sambora checked outo f rehab this past weekend and is heading to Europe to rejoin the band. He will hit the stage with his Bon Jovi bandmates in Zagreb, Croatia - the first show of their European tour - on Wednesday, June 8th.

SLIPKNOT\'s COREY TAYLOR Gets \'Tribute\' Tattoo Of PAUL GRAY On \'NY Ink\'; Video Preview Available

SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor will appear on this week's episode of "NY Ink". According to TV Guide, the show centers on "Miami Ink"'s Ami James as he opens a tattoo shop in New York. Drama comes verbally, physically, even emotionally — as in the form of Taylor, who cries as he gets a "tribute" tattoo to his deceased SLIPKNOT bandmate Paul Gray.

KORN, SUFFOCATION Members To Guest On New SUICIDE SILENCE Album

KORN singer Jonathan Davis and SUFFOCATION frontman Frank Mullen will make guest appearances on "The Black Crown", the new album from California deathcore masters SUICIDE SILENCE. The CD was recorded with heavyweight producer Steve Evetts (THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, EVERY TIME I DIE, HATEBREED) and will be released on July 12 via Century Media Records.

AMORPHIS To Support NIGHTWISH In California

Finnish melancholic dark rock/metal icons AMORPHIS will be direct support for NIGHTWISH at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California on January 21, 2012. Also appearing on the bill will be DOMMIN. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster.

"The opportunity of playing exclusive show with NIGHTWISH came about around February," commented AMORPHIS guitarist Esa Holopainen. "We were totally excited about the idea as we didn't have a chance to do a tour in the U.S. with the 'Skyforger' album. Now we have a special show where we will try to offer as much material as possible from the last two albums. DIABOLOS DUST Signs With MASSACRE RECORDS

German metallers DIABOLOS DUST have inked a deal with Massacre Records.

In existence since 2007. DIABOLOS DUST consists of vocalist Jürgen Dachl (ex-FLOOD OF AGES, EL-K-MINO), bassist Roland Zehrer (ex-SENGAYA) as well as the two founding members Anton H. Lini (guitar) and Stefan Fesser (drums).

According to a press release, DIABOLOS DUST "play tough '80s metal but the band isn't a copy of other bands in this genre. DIABOLOS DUST uses the trademarks of this era and makes the sound unique with its catchy and variable songwriting. The sound is also characterized by various influences from the metal scene and so every song is a piece of art on its own. Monstrous power drumming and a driving bass provide the foundation for a solid guitar work and powerful vocals. With a rhythm section that knows how to create pressure and polyphonic shouting DIABOLOS DUST's independent trademark's created."

MALFEITOR Signs With HELLTHRASHER PRODUCTIONS

Reactivated Swedish death metallers MALFEITOR have inked a deal with Hellthrasher Productions for the release of their new full-length album, "Dum Morior Orior", during the first quarter of 2012.

THREAT SIGNAL Preparing To Enter Studio

Canadian modern metal masters THREAT SIGNAL have issued the following update:

"On June 12th we are driving our asses out to Massachusetts to begin tracking our third release with metal mastermind Zeuss [Chriss Harris]. He has worked on many killer albums from bands such as CHIMAIRA, HATEBREED, ALL THAT REMAINS, THE ACACIA STRAIN, BORN OF OSIRIS, SHADOWS FALL, and many more… We are extremely excited to have Zeuss on board producing and mixing our new record!

"So what can you expect from the new THREAT SIGNAL record? Well… basically we said, 'Let's write the heaviest fuckin' record we possibly can.' We've been experimenting with seven-string guitars and drop tunings since the early days, so we have decided to write almost the whole new record that way. MALEFICE: New Song Available For Streaming

The 10-song effort was recorded at The Face studios in Reading with drums laid down at Fortress Studios in London. All tracks were mixed and mastered by Justin Hill.

BRUCE DICKINSON On Why IRON MAIDEN Is \'Better\' Than METALLICA

The always outspoken IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson talks about the key difference between MAIDEN and METALLICA in the new issue of U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine. In addition to lifting the lid on why his band has been able to stay on top of the world over the years and keep its integrity while doing so (and reminiscing over some of the insane trouble they've gotten in over the years!), Bruce took the time to discuss the secret to MAIDEN's success and why they're revered as one of the greatest bands to ever plug into an amp.

"You've just got to have a sense of fearlessness," says Bruce. "I got into trouble for saying that we're better than METALLICA… and, it's true! They might be bigger than us and they might sell more tickets than us and they might get more gold-plated middle-class bourgeoisie turning up to their shows but they're not MAIDEN. I did say it's a bit of a wind-up. I thought, if I'm going to turn into an asshole, I might as well, you know, go for it!"

CHAKA KHAN Collaborating With AEROSMITH\'s STEVEN TYLER On LED ZEPPELIN Cover

Alex Chapman from Billboard.com is reporting:

CHAKA KHAN may be a legacy artist in the industry, but that isn't to say the legendary songstress isn't as busy as ever. At the top of her list? A duets album, including a LED ZEPPELIN cover alongside AEROSMITH singer and American Idol judge Steven Tyler.

"We literally just clicked," Khan tells Billboard.com of Tyler. "We were at Elton John's party and we got to talk and we both wanted to sing together. We said, 'Let's do a mutual song, by you know, a neutral band -- a band that we both love,' and we both love Zeppelin."

The 'I'm Every Woman' singer will record the duet of a yet-to-be-decided Zepplin tune with Tyler soon, which she has plans to release on a forthcoming double album of duets.

"Divisions", a new song from the Lancaster, Pennsylvania-based Christian metalcore quintet AUGUST BURNS RED, can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. The song comes off the band's fourth album, "Leveler", which will be released on June 21 via Sollid State Records. The effort will be available in both regular and deluxe editions — a first for the band.
