CORPSET: \'Into The Light\' Video Released
 Into The Light, the new video from Finnish death metallers CORPSET, can be viewed below. The song comes off the group's debut album, "Ruins", which is scheduled for release on April 27 via Violent Journey Records. The CD was recorded at various facilities — from professional studios to a horse ranch in the Finnish countryside — and was mixed and mastered at the Coal Hole studio in Hämeenlinna with the group'a former bassist and studio pro Janne Tauriainen.
According to a press release, "Ruins" is "a ruthless ten-piece of contemporary Finnish death metal. With combining old-school sounds to more modern approach and joining hook-filled melodies with pure aggression, 'Ruins' is sure to put Finnish metal-scene on its knees. CORPSET, holding some familiar names from different well-known Finnish acts in their lineup, has managed to create a breath-taking example of twisted Finnish death metal and is a welcome breeze of fresh air to today's stiff metal soundscapes."

IRON MAIDEN, MEGADETH, ALICE IN CHAINS Auction Items Help Raise $940,000
 According to Starpulse.com, an auction of exclusive personal items and memorabilia donated by EMI's family of artists and songwriters — including IRON MAIDEN, MEGADETH and ALICE IN CHAINS — has raised $940,000 in funds to help the Red Cross support people affected by last month's earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
The charity auction, which launched on eBay's worldwide sites on April 5, attracted bids totaling $470,000 from music fans around the world. All the money from winning bidders will be doubled through a donation by EMI.
IRON MAIDEN donated an exclusive, limited edition Ed Force One A2 print (signed by the band), two pieces of original IRON MAIDEN Japan 2011 event artwork signed by artist Herve Monjeaud and a set of drumsticks from the band's "The Final Frontier" world tour used and signed by percussionist Nicko McBrain.
MEGADETH's donation to the auction was a guitar signed by frontman Dave Mustaine.
ALICE IN CHAINS donated a signed setlist and 20-piece poster set.

INSOMNIUM: \'Weather The Strom\' Single, Video Featuring MIKAEL STANNE Posted Online
 Shortly before their 2010 tour with DARK TRANQUILLITY, Finnish melodic death metallers INSOMNIUM recorded the new track "Weather The Storm" with Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILLITY) on guest vocals and performed the song together in London on September 28, 2010. Director Janne Tamminen filmed the show and you can now watch the clip below.
Commented INSOMNIUM vocalist/bassist Niilo Sevänen: "'Weather The Storm' music video was shot at Underworld, London last autumn when we were touring with DARK TRANQUILLITY. The house was sold out, we had a great show and people got really crazy — so it was really a night to remember! London, we salute you! Mikael Stanne joined us on stage for this special song so huge thanks to him!"

INSOMNIUM just started recording its new studio album for a fall release via Century Media Records.
The band's latest CD, "Across The Dark", entered the official chart in the band's home country at position No. 5. The album was recorded at Fantom studio (where the group recorded its 2006 LP, "Above the Weeping World").

EXUMER To Record First Album In 24 Years
 German thrashers EXUMER will enter a studio in Dortmund, Germany this summer with producer Waldemar Sorychta (GRIP INC., ENEMY OF THE SUN, VOODOOCULT, THERION, TIAMAT, MOONSPELL) to begin recording their first album in 24 years. The band's third CD will be recorded and mixed between early June and end of July and will feature artwork by Baptiste Treton, a French-born artist who resides in Vietnam.
Commented EXUMER vocalist Mem V. Stein: "We basically took off from playing live for this entire year in order to concentrate solely on writing, recording and mixing this record.
"Waldemar was the most logical choice for us in regards to producing this very important album. We heard what he had done with the last SODOM album and we all agreed that he is capable of preserving the spirit of a 1980s thrash band but still make them sound relevant today. That is exactly what we envision for EXUMER. We became quite confident that we will achieve this objective after meeting Waldemar earlier this year and trust his intuition as a producer, songwriter and musician, as well as his ability to push EXUMER's envelope when it is necessary."
EXUMER began negotiating with several labels to release the upcoming CD and will announce the album's title once a record deal has been secured.

A LIFE ONCE LOST Announces New Drummer
 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania hard rock powerhouse A LIFE ONCE LOST has announce the addition of drummer Justin Crouse to the group's ranks. After the departure of Justin Graves earlier this year, the band auditioned several candidates and selected fellow Philadelphia resident Crouse.

CONSFEARACY Signs With MASSACRE RECORDS
 CONSFEARACY (formerly PROPHESY), the American/German metal band featuring lead vocalist Brian O'Connor (ex-VICIOUS RUMORS), guitarist Fabian Schwarz (THE NEW BLACK), bassist Günter Auschrat (THE NEW BLACK, ABANDONED), guitarist Ira Black (ex-VICIOUS RUMORS, LIZZY BORDEN, METAL CHURCH) and drummer Timo Weis, has inked a deal with Massacre Records. The group produced, recorded and mixed its self-titled album in 2010, then mastered it with Achim Köhler in Germany. A July 4 release is expected (three days earlier in Germany).

SEBASTIAN BACH: Eight Songs Mixed, Five To Go
 Former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach recently entered a Los Angeles studio with his new, young, virtuosic guitarist Nick Sterling, drummer Bobby Jarzombek and producer Bob Marlette (BLACK SABBATH, SHINEDOWN, ATREYU, FILTER) to record Bach's next CD, tentatively due this fall via the Italian label Frontiers Records.
In a Twitter post dated April 25, Bach writes, "I am having the time of my life right now cranking eight final mixes of the new record! Yes, that's right — producer extraordinaire Bob Marlette has completed eight out of 13 final mixes for the record and I just cannot tell you how clean, clear, loud, groovin', classy, heavy and crazy this music sounds! Everything sounds better than I ever could have imagined and I cannot wait for you all to jam out to this!"
Bach previously stated about his new solo material, "This CD will follow along the lines of 'Skid Row', 'Slave To The Grind', 'Subhuman Race' and 'Angel Down'. FREEDOM CALL: \'Live In Hellvetia\' Trailer Available
 Having sold over 35,000 copies of its debut, "Stairway To Fairyland", FREEDOM CALL's tour with SAXON, ANGRA and EDGUY turned into a triumphal march. The tour culminated with memorable shows with SAVATAGE and SKEW SISKIN in August 1999 as part of the Popkomm music fair in Cologne. The band played almost fifty shows in 2000 and proved their worth at various festivals, like the Wacken Open Air 1999 and 2000. Their second release, "Crystal Empire", even surpassed the debut's success. The sales figures increased, and even before the album was available, FREEDOM CALL were invited to the Metafest in Bologna, Italy, the Metal Dayz in Switzerland and delivered an unforgettable performance at the STRATOVARIUS/RHAPSODY show in Bourges, France.
Following the release of "Crystal Empire", FREEDOM CALL embarked on a 63-day European tour with HAMMERFALL and VIRGIN STEELE that took them through Scandinavia, Holland, Germany, Austria, Hungry, France and Spain, among other countries.
June 2002 saw the arrival of the third FREEDOM CALL recording, "Eternity", followed by an extensive tour with BLIND GUARDIAN. During that time period they recorded "Live Invasion". At the same time, FREEDOM CALL established themselves as a headlining act in their own right and they were celebrated as the stars of the Wacken Road Show 2004 night after night.
"The Circle Of Life" saw the integration of more modern and unusual arrangements into the band's sound, extending the musicians' sonic range - an element which their album, "Dimensions", also benefits from. With both albums they toured extensively with bands like RAGE and DRAGONFORCE.
In 2010 the new album "Legend of the Shadowking" saw the light of day. The album is based on the story of King Ludwig II and charted in Sweden and Finland. In February/March 2010 FREEDOM CALL embarked on a huge European tour together with GAMMA RAY and in May 2010 with AXEL RUDI PELL. Afterwards they played over 40 gigs on festivals and as a headliner. After nearly 15 years of existence and approximately 200,000 albums sold, it was time for the first DVD which was shot by the end of 2010 in Pratteln, Switzerland.
Both the CD and DVD packages include the entire live show from Pratteln, Switzerland. The second disc of the DVD set includes interviews, a "A Day In The Life Of Freedom Call" featurette and much more. FOO FIGHTERS DAVE GROHL Talks Playing 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' Again
 According to The Pulse Of Radio, FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl revealed in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly that he and former NIRVANA members Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear played the NIRVANA classic "Smells Like Teen Spirit" together for the first time in nearly two decades while the FOO FIGHTERS were recording their new album, "Wasting Light". Grohl explained, "The day we finished the record, we had this club gig to do. It was in this little bar down the street, a surprise show. I invited Krist to come down and play a song. We wanted to play 'Marigold', which was the B-side of the 'Heart-Shaped Box' single, and it was the only NIRVANA song I sang."
Grohl continued, "So we go to the studio that day to practice. We run though the song once and then Krist says, 'Hey you guys want to do some moldy oldies?' Me and Pat look at each other and go, 'Okay, what do you want to do?' He says, 'Let's do 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'. I hadn't played that song in 18 years . . .We ended the song and look at each other like, 'That was strange.' We walked out and (the studio manager) looked at us and said, 'Yeah, it sounded pretty good. You guys should keep that."
Smear has been a member of FOO FIGHTERS on and off since the band's formation in 1995, and is currently back in the band.
Grohl, Novoselic and Smear last played together in 1994 on NIRVANA's final tour. Frontman Kurt Cobain killed himself in April of that year.
Butch Vig, who produced NIRVANA's 1991 landmark album "Nevermind", produced the new FOO FIGHTERS record.
Grohl told Entertainment Weekly that bringing Vig onto the project was a big step for him personally, explaining, "I owe everything to NIRVANA. But I can't let that overshadow the future. For the first few years, I didn't even want to talk about NIRVANA; partly because it was just painful to talk about losing Kurt but also because I wanted the FOO FIGHTERS to mean something."
"Wasting Light" debuted at No. 1 on last week's Billboard album chart, a first for the FOO FIGHTERS, selling 235,000 copies in its first week of release.

 Metal Injection has posted a three-and-a-half-minute video report from the "black carpet" of the third annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards, which was held last Wednesday, April 20 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California. OZZY On BLACK SABBATH Reunion: \'To Be Honest, I Don\'t Think We All Can Physically Do It\'
 "God Bless Ozzy Osbourne", the much-anticipated "intimate" documentary that delves deep into the life of heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival over the weekend. The movie includes interviews with Ozzy's BLACK SABBATH bandmates Geezer Butler, Bill Ward and Tony Iommi, which might make viewers wonder about if a reunion will ever happen.
"To be honest, I don't think we all can physically do it," Ozzy tells VH1 Radio Networks' Dave Basner. "I'm up for it, I keep fit every day. I can't speak for the others. I mean, I've spoken to Tony Iommi, I speak to Bill from time to time, I haven't spoken to Geezer for a while, but if it's meant to happen, it'll happen. If it does in one figuration, I suppose we manage to go out. I don't want to say too much, really, because I don't really know."
Butler recently released a statement via his official web site in which he made it clear that "there will be definitely NO reunion of all four original members of BLACK SABBATH, whether to record an album or to tour."
In a January 27 interview with the Los Angeles-based "Mark And Brian Show", which airs on 95.5 KLOS Southern California's Best Rock, Osbourne said, "I often get asked this question: 'Will there ever be a [new BLACK SABBATH studio] album?' One thing I can say for definite [is] we are all talking, we are all friends. But it's been 30 years since we did a studio album — if it's not something extra, extra special, the people are gonna go, 'We waited 30 years [for this...]' But before my life's over, I would love... my dream is to do the ultimate BLACK SABBATH album; I would love to do that."
Butler previously said in an interview with AOL's Noisecreep that while all four of the band's original members are interested in taking part in a reunion, Ozzy Osbourne's current world solo tour will keep SABBATH on ice for the foreseeable future. Butler explained, "It's not going to happen [in 2011]. Ozzy's on tour with his own band for the next year or whatever . . . I'm sure Ozzy will say 'yes' and 'no' every week for the next year while he's on tour. It's one thing to want to do something like that just before you go out to tour a record. You say, 'Oh yeah, I'm gonna tour for the next five years.' And then six weeks into it, you can't wait to get home. So we'll just see how he feels when he finishes his Ozzy Osbourne tour."
The original SABBATH lineup of Ozzy, Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward has not toured together since the summer of 2005, and last convened for their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in early 2006.
In a 2010 interview with Sunday Mercury, Iommi said that he didn't rule out another reunion with Osbourne. Following the death of singer Ronnie James Dio last May, with whom Iommi had been working in the SABBATH offshoot HEAVEN & HELL, Iommi told Sunday Mercury, "I spoke to Ozzy while I was in Los Angeles after Ronnie's funeral . . . Ozzy and I have a complicated relationship but we've always kept in touch, no matter what else might have been going on. Would I play with Ozzy again? Who knows? It's weird with me and Ozzy."
Iommi added, "There can be all sorts of shit going on but when we talk, it's like nothing bad has ever happened."
SABBATH did try to record a new album 12 years ago, their first since 1978, but abandoned the attempt after just a couple of songs.
Ozzy filed a lawsuit against Iommi in May 2009, claiming that Iommi illegally took sole ownership of the band's name in a filing with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

DREAM THEATER Unveils Identities Of Seven Drummers That Auditioned To Replace MIKE PORTNOY
 The first in a series of webisodes in which progressive metal giants DREAM THEATER share with their fans some of the intense process, along with the musical joy, that went into choosing a new drummer can be viewed at this location. (Note: The video stream may not be available to some non-U.S. residents.)
A little more than a month after original drummer Mike Portnoy's sudden departure from DREAM THEATER, the band held three days of auditions in New York City. Over an amazing and productive three-day period, the band played, jammed and spoke candidly with seven of the world's greatest drummers, learning about them musically, personally and professionally, and assessing the fit of each drummer's incredible chops with the band's trademark prog-rock sound.
The members of DREAM THEATER have been extremely sensitive to the fact that this is not only a monumental decision in their own lives, but also a critical moment in the lives of their fans around the world. "The departure of our lifelong bandmate and friend was an unexpected and truly heartbreaking blow," says guitarist John Petrucci. "The fact that as a result of that event we'd be introduced to seven infinitely capable and uniquely talented drummers was heartening."
The following seven drummers took part in the DREAM THEATER audition process:

Commented Peter Wildoer: "My audition started with two jams where we set the levels for in ears and just felt each other out — musically, that is. ;-) After that, we went through the three songs they sent me. I guess you'll get to know what songs it was on the next episode of the DREAM THEATER video. At last, they wanted to try some new ideas. This was HAAAAAAAAARD! The ideas were in weird odd times and not one bar with the same meter. Very cool ideas, and I got my head around it so and so after a while. If those ideas end up on the new DREAM THEATER album, it will be PROG! :-) All drummers used the same kit, yes. Auditions were held in New York so no chance to bring my own. We had more than enough time to set up the drums how we wanted them. There was also a drum tech who helped out. I had no problems as I'm used to play rental kits etc when on tour."
Stated Derek Roddy: "We jammed a little while... [It] was cool, but the environment (in-ears, video, etc...) didn't lend itself to a lot of creative moments... Plus the fact that these guys were trying to 'jam' in odd times, etc. Then they threw some riffs at me to see how quickly I could spit out complex stuff. Now this was fun, but at the same time I could tell that they were looking for a dude that will come in and record an entire record in the studio on the spot. I've never wanted to work that way as I believe that if the business (need to put out a record quickly) overtrumps the musical vision (taking time and creating the best you can), then that ultimately directs where the band ends up in the future. I like to sit on riffs for a few days at least and create the best possible part (as opposed to the automatic one). As far as the band being upfront with their fans, I'm sure they want to, but there are some legal issues that needs to be addressed and that takes precedence over what 'can be said or announced.' I'm sure [the fans] can figure it out. And I am certain that they knew who they wanted before these auditions were even thought about. One thing that was said directly to me was, 'Whoever it will be, it's got to be the fans' choice, someone the fans are completely happy with.' I was very busy during that time period... only had a few weeks to learn a 20-minute song, a ballad, and a tech song with 30-part changes within the space of three minutes! Haha."

ALL SHALL PERISH: New Album Title Announced
 Oakland, California extreme metallers ALL SHALL PERISH have set "This Is Where It Ends" as the title of their fourth full-length album, due on July 26 (North America) and July 29 (Europe) via Nuclear Blast Records. The majority of the follow-up to 2008's "Awaken The Dreamers" was recorded and mixed once again at Castle Ultimate Studios in Oakland with producer Zack Ohren (LIGHT THIS CITY, DECREPIT BIRTH, SUFFOCATION).

ANNEX THEORY To Release \'Beneath The Skin\' EP In May
 Canada's ANNEX THEORY, which features in its ranks former QUO VADIS vocalist Trevor Birnie, has inked a deal with Pivotal Rockordings. The band will release its debut EP, "Beneath The Skin", in May via all major digital retailers. Physical copies will be made available exclusively through the band.
"Beneath The Skin" was produced and mixed by Carlin "Lemon" Heibert, cousin of COMEBACK KID guitarist Jeremy Heibert, and was mastered by TESSERACT guitarist Acle Kahney.
