Blame It On The Boom Boom", a brand new song from Kentucky rockers BLACK STONE CHERRY, is available for free download at this location (sign-up required). The track comes off the band's third album, "Between The Devil And Deep Blue Sea", which will be released on May 31 via Roadrunner Records. The "White Trash Millionaire" single, which can be streamed below, was made available digitally on March 29.

Nera, the singer of the Polish metal band DARZAMAT, will release her debut solo album, "Foresting Wounds", under the name NERANATURE on May 9 in Europe via Metal Mind Productions and on July 12 in the U.S. through MVD.

OZZY OSBOURNE Wants His Funeral To Be A \'Celebration\'

Legendary heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne — who has often said in interviews that he is "lucky to be alive" after decades of substance abuse, casual sex and drinking — wants his funeral to be "a celebration, not a mope-fest."

In his health column for the Sunday Times magazine, the 62-year-old Osbourne writes, "I don't care what they play at my funeral; they can put on a medley of Justin Bieber, Susan Boyle and We Are The Diddymen if it makes 'em happy — but I do want to make sure it's a celebration, not a mope-fest (sic).

"I'd also like some pranks maybe the sound of knocking inside the coffin, or a video of me asking my doctor for a second opinion on his diagnosis of 'death'.

"There'll be no harping on the bad times. I don't want my funeral to be sad. I want it to be a time to say 'thanks.'"

MANOWAR: We Know SCOTT COLUMBUS Is \'In A Good Place And At Peace\'

MANOWAR has released the following statement regarding the passing of the band's former drummer, Scott Columbus:

"With great sorrow we announce the passing of our brother Scott. A rare talent, equally a rare individual, a father, friend and a brother of metal.

"All the great moments we spent together are burnished in our hearts and memories forever. We know he is in a good place and at peace. He will never be forgotten."

Columbus joined MANOWAR in 1983 but left the band in 1990 when his son fell ill. He returned to the fold for the "Louder Than Hell" album in 1996 and remained with the group April 2008. He explained in a 2010 interview that his final departure from the band came after he disagreed with MANOWAR bassist Joey DeMaio on "a few points of interest," but said they remained on speaking terms, adding, "Why let something professional interrupt something personal? I tend to make friends for life." He also dismissed any suggestion that he'd left the band because of ill health, insisting, "I'm in the best shape of my life. I mean, I'm 112 years old, but I'm in the best shape."

"I had a long and wonderful career with MANOWAR. I have no regrets — but life moves on."

His girlfriend of nearly four years, Nancy, wrote in an online post, "I cannot get the words out. Please send your thoughts and prayers — I can't believe he is gone. He was the absolute love of my life."

In the months prior to this death, Columbus was working on an instrumental project called INSTRUMETAL. He described it as "very heavy, very rhythmically driven. I call it heavy metal elevator music; you pop the CD in your car and before you know it, you're driving 125 miles an hour!"

Scott Columbus was only 54 years old.

PAIN OF SALVATION: \'Where It Hurts\' Video Released

Currently working on the final details of its highly anticipated "Road Salt Two" release and freshly returned from a successful trip to India, Sweden's PAIN OF SALVATION has released an impressive video for the song "Where It Hurts" (off "Road Salt One"). The clip, which was once again filmed by director Owe Lingvall of Village Road Film (who had previously worked on the clip for "Linoleum"), can be viewed below.

According to a press release, "Where It Hurts" "features very intense and explicit footage, sure to add a new depth to the already captivating music and lyrics of this particular song."

Commented PAIN OF SALVATION's Daniel Gildenlöw: "Finally the video for 'Where it Hurts' is officially released! I have longed for this moment for months.

"With 'Road Salt' I decided from the start to be insanely brave — always going where the music and lyrics would take us and never hesitate or consider the consequences. This approach was very dominant already when we first started taking photos for the album. I found myself in situations I had never expected to find myself in — we dressed in skirts, waded knee-deep in ice cold lakes, lying in freezing and maggot filled swamp water, making out with relatives in front of the camera — the whole three-day shoot ending with a huge bonfire where we played acoustic music and burned furniture long into the cold Swedish night.

"'Road Salt One', as an album, is a result of these same premises, and anyone listening to it cannot say anything else than that it is brave and uncompromising. I felt as hellbent on going our own way with this album as I did back in 2000 when we recorded 'The Perfect Element Part I'. 'Is this guitar too loud and dry? Let's see what happens if we go even further!'

"I wanted to commit just as devotedly to the videos for 'Road Salt One'. The premises Brave and Uncompromising were very present here too. I wanted the video to land somewhere between '70s Asian karate movies on VHS, 'Kill Bill' and the aesthetic world of comic magazines from the '90s. Like everything about 'Road Salt One', I wanted it to be raw and brave yet beautiful.

"The video is cut between two graphical environments or scenes. The scaled down and arty white, black-and-red scenes, representing the abstract and emotional, and the darker warm and grainy sex scenes, representing the physical. The video is revolving around themes of love, sex, hurt and reconciliation, and is reaching back to earlier videos and albums by PAIN OF SALVATION."

P.O.D. Files Lawsuit Against Record Label

Billboard.com reports that Christian rockers P.O.D. are suing their record label, Tennessee-based INO Records, claiming that the company breached its contract by refusing to pay the band a $400,000 advance for its next album.

According to the lawsuit, which was filed in Nashville, the group informed the label in November that it was ready to start recording the follow-up to 2008's "When Angels & Serpents Dance". The band claims INO refused to pay the option, explaining that P.O.D. had " 'abandoned' its obligations (to INO) under the agreement."

"When Angels & Serpents Dance" sold 34,000 in the United States in its first week of release in April 2008 to debut at position No. 9 on The Billboard 200 chart.

The band's previous CD, "Testify", registered a first-week tally of just over 54,000 back in February 2006 to land at No. 9.

"When Angels & Serpents Dance" featured guest appearances from the MARLEY SISTERS, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES singer Mike Muir and HELMET guitarist Page Hamilton.

BIOMECHANICAL/PARADOX Guitarist Launches SUNBURST

23-year-old Greek guitarist Gus Drax (BIOMECHANICAL, PARADOX) has joined forces with bassist Vasilis Liakos, drummer Kostas Milonas and vocalist Bill Georgiou (INNOSENSE) in a brand new band called SUNBURST. The group is currently working on material for its debut album, tentatively due later in the year. A three-song demo will be released during the coming months.

Liakos previously played on Drax's instrumental album "In Search Of Perfection" and will also appear on Gus' next CD, along with Milonas.

Gus Drax (pictured below) was born on September 21, 1987 in Larissa, Greece. He has been playing guitar since he was 14 years old and is now considered to be one of the most talented Greek guitar players.

TOMAS LINDBERG To Guest On New NIGHTRAGE Album

Video footage of original NIGHTRAGE frontman Tomas Lindberg (also known for his work with AT THE GATES, THE CROWN and LOCK UP) laying down guest vocals on the band's as-yet-untitled new album in early March at Studio Fredman in Västra Frölunda, Sweden can be viewed below.

Lindberg appeared on the band's first two albums — 2003's "Sweet Vengeance" and 2005's "Descent Into Chaos" — before being replaced by Jimmie Strimell, who sang on 2007's "A New Disease Is Born".

Current NIGHTRAGE vocalist Antony Hämäläinen made his recording debut with the band on 2009's "Wearing A Martyr's Crown".

NIGHTRAGE recently completed work on 15 songs during the pre-production phase for its as-yet-untitled fifth album, which the band plans to officially start recording in June. The CD will be released via Lifeforce Records in Europe and North America (release dates to be revealed soon). Floga Records from Greece will make the effort available on limited-edition vinyl.

Commented guitarist/mainman Marios Iliopoulos: "This time we have chosen a different approach in the recording process. All drums, bass, and guitars will be recorded at Zero Gravity Studios in Athens, Greece. Some of you might remember, this location was the set for our latest video 'Wearing A Martyr's Crown'.

"On this record we want to break up the monotony of the typical Scandinavian weather/scenery and head to one of the most beautiful countries this band has ever played. So once again, Greece is our destination!

"Antony [Hämäläinen, vocals] will head into Arcane Digital Recording (located in sunny Chandler, Arizona USA) with our good friend Ryan Butler (LANDMINE MARATHON, MISERY INDEX, PHOBIA, EXHUMED) for the vocal recordings. Another first for the band, trying out an American studio will be an interesting change. But for those of you who know Ryan's work, you can expect the result to be old school and punishing.

"Of course, our album would not be complete without the help from our longtime producer Fredrik Nordström (DIMMU BORGIR, OPETH, IN FLAMES, THE HAUNTED, EXHUMATION, FIREWIND), who will drum edit, reamp, mix and master the album in Studio Fredman. MURDERDOLLS Frontman Donates To Japan

MURDERDOLLS frontman Wednesday 13 is currently working on a few different projects to donate money to the people of Japan.

While on tour in Japan, Wednesday 13 and the rest of MURDERDOLLS experienced first-hand the magnitude-8.9 earthquake that rocked the country. It was the fifth most powerful earthquake recorded since 1900.

Commented Wednesday 13: "That was the scariest day of my life, without a doubt. It's almost beyond words to explain what we felt and witnessed.

"Japan is my favorite country to visit, tour and I’m just truly, truly saddened by this tragedy."

Wednesday 13 will put up five auctions for custom-made canvas prints (20" x 32"). Each canvas print will be hand-signed, numbered and will contain a songtitle on the back. Proceeds from these sales will go to Save The Children.

Save the Children, which has worked in Japan since 1986, has an immediate goal of $5 million to launch longer-term recovery for children affected by Japan's March 11 earthquake and tsunami.

Prior to the earthquake, Wednesday 13 was working on a special remix CD, "Re-animated". He has taken five songs from his "Skeletons" CD and given them a new life.

For the first month of release, Wednesday 13 will take a portion of all sales and donate to the American Red Cross. The American Red Cross is currently supporting and advising the Japanese Red Cross, which continues to assist the government in its response.

A digital release date for "Re-animated" will be announced shortly.

BORN OF OSIRIS Denied Entry To Canada; Band Forced To Pull Out Of AUGUST BURNS RED Tour

Chicago-based progressive metal hybrid BORN OF OSIRIS has been denied entry to Canada last night and will therefore be unable to join AUGUST BURNS RED on their previously announced Canadian dates.

Commented BORN OF OSIRIS guitarist Lee McKinney: "Due to some very unexpected problems at the border, we were unable to cross into Canada. We were forced to turn around and head home and could not be more bummed about this.

"We are so sorry to everyone who had already bought tickets to the shows in hopes to see us. We were excited to get to play a lot of places we haven't been to before throughout Canada with some great bands. We will try again to make it out to Canada in the near future, and will do everything within our powers to ensure we make it across next time."

"The Discovery", the third full-length album from BORN OF OSIRIS, sold around 6,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 87 on The Billboard 200 chart. The group's previous CD, 2009's "A Higher Place", entered the charts at No. 73 with first-week sales of over 6,000 copies.

"The Discovery" was released on March 22 via Sumerian Records. The CD was recorded at BOTA Studio in Lake In The Hills, Illinois and was mixed by Jason Suecof (ALL THAT REMAINS, TRIVIUM, DEVILDRIVER).

Former MANOWAR Drummer SCOTT COLUMBUS Dead At 54

According to a posting on former MANOWAR guitarist Ross "The Boss" Friedman's Facebook page, ex-MANOWAR drummer Scott Columbus died earlier today (Monday, April 4) at the age of 54. This information was corroborated by Scott's girlfriend of almost four years, Nancy, who wrote on the drummer's Facebook page, "For all you to know, this is Scott Columbus's girlfriend of over 3 1/3 years... and I cannot get the words out, but he died today... Please send your thoughts and prayers. I can't believe he is gone. He was the absolute love of my life."

BEHEMOTH Frontman: \'I Have Dreams About Coming Back Onstage\'

Revolver magazine has posted the second and final part of an in-depth interview with Adam "Nergal" Darski, the 33-year-old leukemia-stricken guitarist/vocalist of the Polish extreme metal act BEHEMOTH, who recently underwent a bone marrow transplant procedure. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Revolver: Have you been able to write any music lately?

Nergal: Not really, I did some riffs. I'm thinking maybe something cool will come out of it. Maybe not. We'll see. I wrote a lot of stuff — not musically, but lyrics. I got a lot of ideas for lyrics, a lot of verses here and there. Some of them are really, really cool. I can't wait to put them into the riffs. It was not like I was inactive artistically; I was. I just wasn't playing the guitar. I was coming up with different ideas. Honestly, now, I was seeing my graphic designer two days ago, and we were talking about the cover for the next record. I know it's two years until we fucking unleash it, but I always start working in the very early stages. And I just throw ideas at the table and just wait for them to grow. I want to make sure every idea is awesome and it's very mature I want to make sure that the whole album, every aspect — music, graphics, lyrics — they're going to pass the test of time. And it's going to be timeless at the end of the time, and 10 years down the road people are going to be thinking, Fuck, this awesome record, it's still fresh and it has a value to people.

Revolver: Speaking of that, this is BEHEMOTH's 20th anniversary, and I just wanted to know how that makes you feel.

Nergal: Yes, we're talking to Metal Blade, and Metal Blade's probably going to be releasing an official biography in English worldwide. It's going to be a book, with lots of pictures, 300 or 400 pictures. It should be finished in May, so we really hope that we're going to meet the deadlines because October is exactly when the 20th anniversary is happening. What's a better way to celebrate the anniversary than to release a biography? I don't see any. Some bands would do new versions of their old songs, and stuff that was pretty much every fucking band does it. We're going to do some shows here in Poland, but I'm most excited about the book. It's super exciting and I can't fucking wait to read it. I hope metalheads will want to read it — I know they're all about listening to the music, but it would be cool to have something like this. It's going to be authorized by the band, and it's a lot of cool stuff that you've never read in the interviews. A lot of pictures, a lot of rare pictures. So just wait and see. It's going to be awesome.

Revolver: What do you have planned for your concerts in October?

Nergal: Yeah, we just decided to play some so-called comeback shows in Poland just to warm up and see how we feel, just to be onstage again together. And I really hope that it's going to turn out great and that it's going to cause other tours and stuff. We have plans until the summer of next year. We already have some cool offers. We're talking to our agents. There's some really, really cool ideas. I don't want to reveal anything yet, but once we're done with October shows, and we feel good about it, and there's chemistry onstage, we definitely want to continue the "Evangelion" touring cycle. There's still some markets we didn't even touch. We've done over 100 shows so far to "Evangelion". We're going to do another 100 at least, and then we can focus on the next record.

To be honest, we can't wait to hit the stage again. I'm so fucking anxious. I'm so excited, so psyched about it. I have dreams about coming back onstage. I dream about BEHEMOTH shows. It's insane, I know, but I can't tell you how much it's a relief to the band and how much it means to us.

THEATRE OF TRAGEDY announced in March 2010 that it was calling it quits, stating, "This has not been an easy decision to make and we have thought about this for a long long time. We finally agreed to this during the production of our latest album, 'Forever Is The World'.

"Over the years all of us have strived to combine the THEATRE with everyday life but in the end it has proven more and more difficult.

"We have come to appreciate our family lives and jobs, which makes it very hard to continue this life of rock 'n' roll on the road."

THEATRE OF TRAGEDY released a a limited-edition tour version of its seventh album, "Forever Is The World", in March 2010 to coincide with the band's European shows. The set included a new EP called "Addenda" and featured 10 tracks of b-sides, rarities, remakes and remixes.

"Forever Is The World" was released in September 2009 via AFM Records. The follow-up to 2006's "Storm" was recorded at Room 13 studios in Oslo with producer Alexander Møklebust, who has previously worked with ZEROMANCER, SEIGMEN, GÅTE, MONOMEN and DELAWARE, among others. The mastering was handled by Bjørn Engelmann at the Cutting Room in Sweden.

"Forever Is The World" was made available in three different versions: a limited digipack with one bonus song, a very limited double vinyl version with two bonus tracks (one exclusive to the vinyl edition!) and a regular jewelcase.

THIN LIZZY Recruits GUNS N\' ROSES Guitarist For Upcoming Tour

Legendary rockers THIN LIZZY have recruited GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Richard Fortus as the temporary replacement for Vivian Campbell, who will return to DEF LEPPARD next month.

Fortus joined THIN LIZZY on stage at the final gig of the band's U.S. tour on April 1 at Vic Theatre in Chicago (see video below) and will take over for Campbell after LIZZY's May 28 concert at Slaine Castle, Ireland. Campbell writes on his Facebook page, "Well, that was it: my last U.S. show with LIZZY — and it was a great one to end on. New guitarist Richard Fortus came and played a couple of songs. I have one final gig with them in Ireland, and the very next day we start DEF LEP rehearsals."

THIN LIZZY's latest reincarnation includes original-era members Scott Gorham, Brian Downey and Darren Wharton. Also on board are Campbell, former WHITESNAKE bassist Marco Mendoza and ex-THE ALMIGHTY frontman Ricky Warwick.

In a recent interview with Gibson.com, Campbell stated about his involvement with THIN LIZZY, "It's been a tremendous pleasure to tour with THIN LIZZY. Playing with a band that meant so much to me in my formative years has really rekindled my passion for the instrument again. I haven't been this excited about guitar playing since I was in my teens!"

When asked if he would like to be a part of future THIN LIZZY tours, should he be available, Vivian said, "Absolutely! However, I continue to be fully committed to DEF LEPPARD, and we're going to be on the road from June of this year, so LIZZY [will be using] a replacement for me for their continuing summer dates. They have very kindly offered me the opportunity to come back when my schedule with DEF LEPPARD opens up, and you can bet that I'll be there in a heartbeat!"

TRAMP Releases Debut Album

TRAMP, the new Swedish "rock 'n' roll super group consisting of well-known
rock gurus from bands such as THE HELLACOPTERS, CAPTAIN MURPHY, HENRY FIATS OPEN SORE and THE TURPENTINES, has just released its debut album, "Indigo", in Sweden via Killer Cobra Records. A wider European release is scheduled for May 2.

The band's lineup is as follows:

* Markus Karlsson (THE TURPENTINES) - Vocals
* Stefan Brainstrum (HENRY FIATS OPEN SORE) - Electric Guitar
* Johannes Borgström (ex-CAPTAIN MURPHY) - Electric Bass
* Robert Eriksson (MIDLIFE CRISIS, ex-THE HELLACOPTERS) - Drums

The singer Markus Karlsson and guitarist Stefan Brändström were previously members of REPUBLIKANS. In 2007, they sought a new platform for playing music together and recruited a rhythm section consisting of Robert Eriksson and Johannes Borgström.

Musically TRAMP "weave together decades of musical heritage," according to a press release. "The melodies and harmonies echoing of the '60s, the attack in the performance has more of a '70s touch, and some big gestures could be from the 80's. Furthermore, they dig into their own story and weave everything together into something that lives and breathes in its own own time. It sounds quite British in a head-on collision with the U.S. and then '60s psychedelia next to pure garage rock. Like New York punk rockers on a Magical Mystery Tour. Or a DAMNED who hack out some BEACH BOYS songs. And sometimes as THE WHO in their best pop moments.

SWASHBUCKLE Parts Ways With Drummer, Announces Replacement

SONS OF AEON Signs With LIFEFORCE RECORDS

SONS OF AEON, the new Jyväskylä, Finland-based metal band featuring former SWALLOW THE SUN drummer Pasi Pasanen, has inked a deal with Lifeforce Records. The group's debut album is scheduled for release in early 2012.

Commented the band: "SONS OF AEON is happy to announce that we have joined the Lifeforce Records team! We feel we found a great home for our music and we're looking forward to rolling our sleeves and getting to work.

"We're currently writing more music for our upcoming debut album. We'll let you know when we have some more detailed information."

SONS OF AEON recently made three songs available for free download via the group's official web site. The drums were recorded at Studio Watercastle in Jyväskylä, Finland by Arttu Sarvanne, while guitars and bass were recorded at SONS OF AEON's home studio and the vocals were handled by Teemu Liekkala. The mixing and mastering was taken care of by Antti Malinen.

EVANESCENCE To Enter Studio Next Week

Following a three-year sabbatical after the multi-platinum, worldwide success of its sophomore effort, "The Open Door", EVANESCENCE is going into the studio on April 11 to begin recording its third studio album with producer Nick Raskulinecz, whose recent producing credits include FOO FIGHTERS, RUSH, STONE SOUR, DEFTONES and ALICE IN CHAINS.

Comments EVANESCENCE frontwoman Amy Lee: "We can't wait to show everyone what we've been working on. We've written more than an album of songs. We've been finding ourselves, reinventing our sound, experimenting with things we've never done before and at the same time embracing the things we love most about EVANESCENCE. This journey has made us the strongest we've ever been as a band, and I am in love with the music. Nick Rasculinecz is the perfect fit for this record and we are all very excited to get into the studio together."

Lee told RollingStone.com last year that the new EVANESCENCE record would incorporate influences from dance-rock and electronic acts like DEPECHE MODE, MGMT and PORTISHEAD.

LOUDBLAST: New Song Available For Streaming

Veteran French metallers LOUDBLAST will release their new album, "Frozen Moments Between Life And Death", on April 18 via XIII Bis Records. The CD will be available in Germany, Austria, Benelux, Switzerland, Spain, U.K. and Ireland.

"Frozen Moments Between Life And Death" was recorded over a five-week period and was mixed by producer Peter Tägtgren at Abyss Studio in Pärlby, Sweden.

OMEGA LITHIUM To Release \'Kinetik\' In May

Croatian female-fronted gothic metal band OMEGA LITHIUM will release its sophomore album, "Kinetik", via Drakkar on the following dates:

According to a press release, OMEGA LITHIUM had a total of 40 song ideas to choose from for the new CD and "the result sounds fresh, dynamic and haunting throughout. The musicians have thrown all ballast overboard, concentrating on the bare essentials: evocative, danceable songs with concise hooklines and sexy grooves. Machines were fused with rock elements, producing a harmonic whole, and as a result 'Kinetik' has turned into a dance album, created with the tools of a rock band. A suitable pigeonhole still has to be invented for this kind of music, so perhaps we should create our own — how about 'industrial dance rock?' But irrespective of what you call OMEGA LITHIUM's music — tracks such as 'Dance With Me', 'Cut Forget' and 'I Am God' sound energetic, explosive and are clearly more mass-compatible and open-minded than the densely produced material on their debut."

"It’s a catchy album which you can't listen to without banging your head or dancing," Malice Rime enthuses. The eleven tracks were produced at the Horus Sound Studio (HELLOWEEN, HIM, DIE HAPPY, GUANO APES) in Hanover, Germany by Zare Pak and first-time co-producer Malice. Benjamin Schäfer (mix) and Vincent Sorg, who mastered the songs at the Principal Studio (IN EXTREMO, UNHEILIG) are also significantly responsible for the recording's tight and driving sound.

The lyrics on "Kinetik" cover a wide field. On one hand, there are numbers which ironically deal with sex, drugs and parties ("Dance With Me"), the self-ironic, Croatian language song "Pjesma" (English: song), in which the musicians lampoon themselves, and the sexually inspired "Strip Me". On the other hand, OMEGA LITHIUM broaches serious subjects: the title track, "Kinetik", is about an android who feels his own heartbeat and ends up not knowing whether he is man or machine. "Wind", on the other hand, is about the hidden secrets which we would like to block out and definitely don’t want to reveal to anybody. Musically, the band relies on a high degree of variation and tried a number of crazy ideas which have never been realized this way before on a rock album. "Strip Me", for example, features a Croatian Klapa choir, and "Colossus" presents a Slovenian choir, while an instrument called sopele — a traditional Croatian pipe which, according to Malice, creates very strange sounds — was used on "Breaking". So the almost 42-minute recording lacks neither variety, catchiness nor suspense.

"We've set ourselves great targets and hope that this album will bring our breakthrough," the guitarist says. "We've put a lot into it and hope that it will pay off."

WITHIN TEMPTATION: Footage From \'The Unforgiving\' Release Party Posted Online

Dutch female-fronted symphonic metallers WITHIN TEMPTATION have posted video footage from the release party for their fifth studio album, "The Unforgiving", on their WT TV YouTube channel. With the exception of singer Sharon den Adel, the entire band was present at the event — which took place the night of the CD release in Utrecht — to sign the new album and accompanying comic. Sharon den Adel gave birth to a beautiful baby boy on March 30. Logan Arwin Westerholt, who weighed in at five pounds, 8.7 ounces and measured 47 centimeters long, came into the world a little over five weeks early but both mother and son are doing fine.

Logan is the third child of Sharon den Adel and WITHIN TEMPTATION guitarist Robert Westerholt. The couple has a one-year-old son, Robin Aiden Westerholt, and a five-year old daughter named Eva Luna den Adel.

Released on March 29, "The Unforgiving" was produced by Daniel Gibson and is based on a comic book story written by script writer Steven O'Connell (BloodRayne, Dark 48). The band asked comic artist Romano Molenaar (Witchblade, Darkness, X-Men) to draw the characters and scenery of "The Unforgiving", which was made available via Sony Music in Continental Europe and Roadrunner Records in the U.S., U.K. and Ireland, Japan and Australia.

MY DYING BRIDE: 20th-Anniversary Collection \'Evinta\' Due In May

2010 marked the 20th anniversary of U.K. doom metal legends MY DYING BRIDE. To commemorate two decades of doom and gloom from the elite British act, the band embarked upon a special project to re-work familiar melodies and themes from its extensive catalogue into long, flowing symphonic compositions, incorporating new vocals and passages from vocalist, Aaron Stainthorpe. These arrangements have been brought to life in co-operation with keyboard maestro Johnny Maudling (of BAL-SAGOTH fame), as well as a clutch of talented classical musicians, and shared vocals courtesy of professional opera singer Lucie Roche. The collection — titled "Evinta" — will be released on May 31 via Peaceville Records as a two-disc set and deluxe three-disc edition with 64-page book inspired by MY DYING BRIDE's illustrious recordings of the past two decades.

Commented the band: "'Evinta'. A project almost 15 years in the making. An idea that has sat smoldering and never really had a reason to burn alive until now. Nine albums worth of darkness recreated anew to mark 20 years of MY DYING BRIDE. Music arranged to the soundscapes of sorrows past. Finally the 20th anniversary allows us to release this music in a form it has been desperately, woefully waiting for. Enjoy the darkness."

MY DYING BRIDE has been the leading light of doom metal since the debut album, "As the Flower Withers", was released on Peaceville Records back in 1992. Influenced by acts such as CELTIC FROST and CANDLEMASS, the band's heavy atmospherics have carved a huge worldwide following over the years, as it remains a pinnacle of the genre.

MELIAH RAGE: \'Halo Of Flies\' Video Released

Veteran Massachusetts metallers MELIAH RAGE have released a video for their cover version of "Halo Of Flies", originally recorded by ALICE COOPER on the legendary rocker's 1971 album "Killer". MELIAH RAGE reunited with singer Paul Souza this past winter to lay down the track to be used as a bonus cut on the remixed version of the band's 2004 release, "Barely Human". The song was recorded and produced by Peter Rutcho at Red Devil Recording and mixed at Damage Studios. The video was produced by Branden Maxham and Brad Piche of Omnidawn Productions.
