SHINING Parts Ways With INDIE RECORDINGS, Signs New Deal with SPINEFARM RECORDS

Swedish extreme metallers SHINING have parted ways with Norway's Indie Recordings and have inked a deal with Finland's Spinefarm Records.

SHINING founder Niklas Kvarforth, who late last month announced that he was quitting all his other projects, with the exception of Maniac's SKITLIV, so that he could concentrate on SHINING, is keen to stress that the parting from Indie is completely amicable, explaining that, "There is absolutely no bad blood between SHINING and Indie Recordings. We sat down together and talked everything through, and everyone came to the conclusion that the best way for SHINING to grow and develop would be to sign the band to a label with the size and experience of Spinefarm." He adds, "I would like to thank Indie for putting the interests of the band first and allowing this to deal to happen."

The surprise move also means that SHINING's much-delayed seventh full-length album, "VII / Född Förlorare", will now appear on Spinefarm rather than Indie, with a release date having been set for May 25.

Commenting on the upcoming release and the new cooperation with Spinefarm, Kvarforth had this to say: "'VII / Född Förlorare' has been long in coming due to a series of unfortunate delays, none of which had anything to do with Indie, and it is a relief to all of us that it will finally see the light of day. I personally am extremely happy to be working with Spinefarm's Teemu, and am confident that SHINING will now be able to go from strength to strength."

RUSSIAN CIRCLES Begins Recording New Album

Chicago instrumental post-metal trio RUSSIAN CIRCLES returns to the studio today to begin recording material for its fourth album. Brandon Curtis of THE SECRET MACHINES and INTERPOL, who helmed RUSSIAN CIRCLES' previous album "Geneva", is producing and mixing the new collection of songs at Phantom Manor in Chicago.

RUSSIAN CIRCLES' forthcoming CD marks the band's first full-length to be released worldwide exclusively via Sargent House — the band's longtime management company and record label that had previously released only the vinyl editions of its three previous albums.

RUSSIAN CIRCLES — guitarist Mike Sullivan, drummer Dave Turncrantz and bassist Brian Cook — will take to the road this summer in Europe on a co-headlining tour with new labelmates, Japanese heavy-psych trio BORIS. Tour dates will be announced soon.

"A lot of the mood going into this album has been reflective on the last couple years of touring," Cook says. "We have a ton of material. We're excited to get into recording and be somewhat sheltered from the outside world. We're going to try to make the same ebb and flow of our live set happen on the record, with more constructive dynamics and dramatic bridging between songs. We want to experiment in similar ways that we did with strings and embellishments on 'Geneva', but we don't want to have songs that won't sound the same in a live setting."

AMEBIX To Release \'Knights Of The Black Sun\' Single

Cult British underground heavyweights AMEBIX reemerge from the darkness to announce the release of a new single, their first new material for almost 24 years. The song is entitled "Knights Of The Black Sun" and will be made available on June 3. A limited-edition 12-inch vinyl single will be issued on Amebix Records, in conjunction with Profane Existence. The digital download will be available through Amebix Records/Easyaction.

"Knights Of The Black Sun" was recorded at The Lodge Studios in Northampton and was engineered and produced by AMEBIX drummer Roy Mayorga (NAUSEA, SOULFLY, STONE SOUR). To complement the track, there will be a spectacular animation, the work of animation artist Andy Lefton and director Fin McAteer. The animation will be available as a free HD download to accompany the digital release, on pre-sale only. It will also be given as a free download card to accompany the vinyl. Singer/bassist Rob Miller (a.k.a. The Baron) described the release in a recent interview as "a coming of age for our music. This whole body of work has been not only about music, but also art. This is going to surprise a lot of people."

"Knights Of The Black Sun" is taken from the album "Sonic Mass", to be released on the September Equinox this year. Pre-sale links for the single will be posted on Profane Existence, AMEBIX and Easyaction web sites in early May.

In related news, AMEBIX has parted company with Alternative Tentacles Records after 26 years. The band has decided to step up to the challenge of releasing its own work and has founded Amebix Records in conjunction with Easyaction. They will release the new single, album and back catalogue under the new label while Profane Existence will continue to manufacture and sell the band's work as high-quality vinyl releases, with global distribution through Cargo Records.

Formed in the late Seventies and hailed as the godfathers of crust punk and extreme metal, AMEBIX had long lain dormant until the addition of drummer Roy Mayorga (NAUSEA, CRISIS, SOULFLY, STONE SOUR), a DVD release, and a string of 2009 reunion shows reignited the flame. The band's resurrection first resulted in the release of 2010's "Redux" EP, which features live and re-recorded versions of several of the band's best-loved classics, including "Winter", "Chain Reaction", and the immortal battle cry, "Arise!". The songs were remixed by Mayorga and "Redux" is available from Profane Existence on CD, 12-inch LP and digitally.

AMEBIX is:

Rob Miller: Vocals/Bass
Stig C. Miller: Guitars
Roy Mayorga: Drums/Keyboards/Mandolin

SCELERATA To Record New Album At BLIND GUARDIAN\'s Studio

Brazilian metallers SCELERATA are working on material for their third album, to be recorded in Brazil and Germany. The CD will be produced by Charlie Bauerfeind (HELLOWEEN, BLIND GUARDIAN, RAGE, SAXON, HALFORD, HAMMERFALL, MOTÖRHEAD), continuing the partnership that started in 2007 when he worked on SCELERATA's second album, "Skeletons Domination".

Commented SCELERATA drummer Francis Cassol: "It will be our second [collaboration] with Charlie, whom we worked with on 'Skeletons Domination', but the first time that he [will be involved with the project] since the beginning of the recordings. He had the idea to produce and record the album, which we thought was great. We are discussing about the recording and new songs since the first half of 2010, and we are very excited to see it done."

The drum recordings for the new SCELERATA album will commence in May at BLIND GUARDIAN's Twilight Hall Studios in Germany. The CD should be completed by July.

SCELERATA will support KAMELOT on April 10 in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Axis Films also supplied DITs to manage all of the digital rushes produced during the three sold-out shows.

The seamless production was completed by the HD Lab who provided conform, online, mastering and deliverable services for Serpent Productions, who regularly work with some of the world's best-known artists.

AC/DC singer Brian Johnson said in a recent interview that the band has no immediate plans following the set's release, explaining, "We just want to have a rest, because we were on the road for two years. We played in front of five million people, and we deserve a rest."

Footage from AC/DC's Buenos Aires concerts was previously used in the video for the band's classic album cut "Shoot To Thrill", which served as the first single from AC/DC's "Iron Man 2" soundtrack (featuring catalog material from the mid-1970s onwards). The video also incorporated exclusive footage from "Iron Man 2".

The Buenos Aires concerts were part of AC/DC's highly acclaimed "Black Ice World Tour", the second-highest-grossing world tour of 2009, according to concert industry trade publication Pollstar.

LEAVES\' EYES: Sample Of Another New Song Available

An audio sample of "Kråkevisa", a new song from LEAVES' EYES — the German/Norwegian band formed by ex-THEATRE OF TRAGEDY singer Liv Kristine Espenaes Krull and members of ATROCITY — is available for streaming at this location. The track comes off LEAVES' EYES' new album, "Meredead", which will be released on April 22 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland via Napalm Records. The effort will be available exclusively as limited-edition mediabook CD, including bonus track and bonus DVD "Live At The Metal Female Voices Fest", strictly limited-edition deluxe box set and regular jewel case.

Commented Liv Kristine: "'Kråkevisa' (The Crow Song), also called 'Mannen og Kråka' (The Farmer and the Crow), is a traditional folklore in the genre Scandinavian medieval ballads. I know it from primary school as we used to sing it in the school's choir. There are different versions in Norway, which also uses other melodies. It is one of the best-known folk tunes in my home country, however, it is also well-known in Sweden, Denmark and across the Faeroe Island.

"It's interesting that 'Kråkevisa' is said to be related to 'Hákun Ríður Í Timburskóg', the Faeroese children's rhyme.

"Let me translate 'Kråkevisa''s first verse; first the Norwegian version, then the English one:

Og mannen han gjekk seg i vedaskog,
Hei fara, i vedaskog.
Då sat der ei kråka i lunden og gol.
Hei fara, faltu riltu raltura.

The man went into the firewood forest
Hei fara, to the firewood forest
There he heard crowing from the grove
Hei fara, faltu riltu raltura

"What happens to the crow in the following verses, I guess is not hard to imagine, for it's definitely not a romantic love story! However, the end is what makes real sense to me personally. The message is: A man is not worth a crow if he doesn't realize its value. In a modern sense, I see clearly a connotation to the unfair, insane, money-controlled meat industry, versus those peoples, like the Aborigines and the Eskimos, who are able to survive only because they have inherited knowledge over generations about fair trade with and careful treatment of Nature.

"Thank you, Anette, for having this wonderful idea, and for singing along!

"I sang it this morning, walking through the forest!"

"Seeds Of War", the first demo track from BLACKGATES — the new band featuring former ANTHRAX singer Dan Nelson, drummer Paul Bostaph (TESTAMENT, ex-EXODUS, SLAYER, FORBIDDEN), guitarist Jeremy Epp (THE VENTING MACHINE) and bassist Uriah Duffy (WHITESNAKE) — can be streamed using the ReverbNation TuneWidget below. Dan previously stated about BLACKGATES's musical direction, "It's thrashy and heavy, so it will appeal to ANTHRAX and TESTAMENT fans. But has the groove and brutality of PANTERA, and is also very melodic. The guitarist is a kid from the Bay Area named Jeremy Epp, who's an unknown, but sensational. People are gonna love him."

BLACKGATES recently finished mastering its first demo, which the band recorded in the San Francisco Bay Area with producer Tim Narducci (SYSTEMATIC, SPIRALARMS).

BLACKGATES is:

* Dan Nelson (ANTHRAX): Vocals/guitar
* Paul Bostaph (TESTAMENT, SLAYER, FORBIDDEN, EXODUS): Drums
* Uriah Duffy (WHITESNAKE): Bass
* Jeremy Von Epp (THE VENTING MACHINE): Guitar/vocals

Nelson earlier this year joined forces with Dan "Shaggy" Hoffman and Joe Post in a brand new Levittown, New York-based "rock / blues / punk / metal / hardcore / fun" band called FAREWELL TO WASHINGTON. According to Nelson, the group entered "our junkie little studio a.k.a. 'Potato Junction'" last month to record its first demo.

When asked in an interview with Dose Of Metal what fans can expect from FAREWELL TO WASHINGTON, Nelson said, "People should expect very little from us, as we expect even less from each other."

Regarding his split with ANTHRAX in July 2009, Nelson told The Metal Den, "I never live my life with any regrets and never look back and wish I did something different. I chose instead to look forward to the future. We did some great things in the time we wrote and performed together, and I am very proud of that."

GORY BLISTER To Enter Studio Next Week

Long-running Italian metallers GORY BLISTER will enter the studio next week to begin recording their fourth album. According to a press release, the as-yet-untitled CD will feature "nine tracks of pure fast and aggressive technical death metal."

GORY BLISTER released its latest album, "Graveyard of Angels", in April 2009 via Mascot Records. The CD was described by guitarist Raff as "the natural prosecution of GORY BLISTER's goal to mix old-school aggression, technical skills and progressive music into classic death metal. The sound has acquired a lot more personality; you'll always experience originality both in riffs and lyrics. As for the lyrics, they're written from a point of view inspired by the latest world events. In this concept, fantasy stories usually serve as a metaphor. The lyrics deal with the wickedness in human beings that slowly bring themselves to their own destruction."

According to a press release, "founding six-string sorcerer Patrick Evil, with his cornucopia of über-evil riffs, has been at the top of his game with all-new tracks that will devour the weak at heart and those who try to dismiss this true metal virtuoso. Anthony 'Evil Hobbit' Lopez, making his second appearance on the drums of doom, has taken the groove to a new hellish high, and with the addition of Margar on bass, SATAN'S HOST have taken their musical journey to new, darker realms with deeper and broader themes and lyrical content."

SEBASTIAN BACH: New Album Pushed Back To Late September

Former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach's new solo album, which was previously scheduled for a summer release via the Italian label Frontiers Records, has been pushed back to late September. Bach, his new, young, virtuosic guitarist Nick Sterling, drummer Bobby Jarzombek and producer Bob Marlette (BLACK SABBATH, SHINEDOWN, ATREYU, FILTER) are currently recording the CD at a studio in Los Angeles.

Check out photos from the studio at this location.

Bach previously stated about his new solo material, "This CD will follow along the lines of 'Skid Row', 'Slave To The Grind', 'Subhuman Race' and 'Angel Down'. If you like rockin' guitar riffs, high-energy songs and performances, deadly drums of doom, and ear-shattering screams, we got your rock right here!" Members Of LABRAT, TED MAUL, RIVER FRESHNEY And PURE NEGATIVE Join Forces In DRIPBACK

DRIPBACK, the new U.K.-based hardcore/metal band featuring members of LABRAT and TED MAUL, will release its debut EP, "Inhaling The Ashes", on June 6 via Siege Of Amida Records.

Born from a basic desire to have an excuse to hang out more often with close friends, TED MAUL guitarist Luca Gdrax invited ex-bandmate, drummer Hellhog (currently of PURE NEGATIVE), ex-LABRAT bass wizard Adam Da Rat and the toxic duo of RIVER FRESHNEY's Lee4 (guitars) and Wez4 (vocals) to start jamming. After a few months of rehearsals, it soon became apparent that what was being produced deserved more than the confines of a shitty rehearsal space in an industrial estate in West London, and the five set about refining what would become "Inhaling The Ashes".

Recorded in a 48-hour gap in extreme metal wonder-producer Russ Russell's busy schedule before Christmas, the end result is six tracks of some of the freshest-sounding hardcore metal this country has produced in recent years.

"It's so much fun to be thrashing out hardcore metal tunes in the vein of the bands we grew up with," says Luca, who has been gigging in various bands including AS SHE SCREAMS, INCARCERATED and TED MAUL since 1995. "ENTOMBED, BIOHAZARD, CRO-MAGS, just making a stress free environment to get demented and have some fun!"

"It feels GREAT to be playing again!" enthuses Adam Da Rat, who as well as touring the world with LABRAT, also did brief stints standing in for U.K. hardcore heroes STAMPIN' GROUND and NWOAHM champions GOD FORBID, as well as being the original bassplayer in TED MAUL. "It's so refreshing to be making music for music's sake," he continues. "There's no agenda here, no ambition, no 'Let's make this our jobs' type of thinking going on, and I think you can hear that in the tunes. It's just five guys who love heavy music making a racket with no idea where it will go afterwards. Putting it out on a proper label and going on tour with SOILENT GREEN is not something we planned, but it seems everyone that's heard DRIPBACK wants to help us out and get involved. I am very excited about this."

"Inhaling The Ashes" track listing:

01. Hold Your Horses
02. Kick Out Time
03. No God, No Master
04. Dilapidated Soul
05. Distrust
06. Under The Floor

The band has posted two tracks for preview at www.dripback.co.uk.

ALICE IN CHAINS Vocalist Producing MONSTRO Debut

MONSTRO, the new Atlanta, Georgia-based band featuring former BLOODSIMPLE bassist Kyle Sanders, ex-BLOODSIMPLE drummer Bevan Davies, ex-TORCHE guitarist Juan Montoya and guitarist/vocalist Charlie Suarez, has inked a deal with Vagrant Records. The group entered a studio in Atlanta earlier this week with producer (and ALICE IN CHAINS vocalist) William DuVall to begin recording its debut album for a late summer release.

"We've been collectively writing and recording for two years now and thanks to Vagrant we're finally recording our first proper full-length," said Sanders. "We'll be locked up for the next month recording and mixing with our good friend William DuVall at the helm. These songs have taken on a life of their own and we're all extremely thrilled to lay them all down and begin the journey."

In a May 2010 interview with AOL's Noisecreep, Sanders stated that MONSTRO "brings in a whole new world of elements. There's plenty of heaviness, but also deep psychedelic, almost trance-like moments, with a dark, soulful side vocally," while Davies revealed the band's songs are "more musically driven than vocally, and we are not ashamed to indulge ourselves on our instruments. I feel like our songs are more like mini-journeys and less like hooks and catch phrases."

MONSTRO made its live debut on April 24, 2010 at Lenny's Bar in Atlanta, Georgia. Video footage of the performance can be viewed below (courtesy of The Silver Tongue).

MOTÖRHEAD LEMMY Is \'Delighted\' To Be One Of METALLICA\'s Influences

MetalInsider.net recently conducted an interview with MOTÖRHEAD frontman and rock icon Lemmy Kilmister. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

MetalInsider.net: What are your thoughts on the music industry these days?

Lemmy: Well, the music industry these days is dying, isn't it? They have no idea what fucking happened to them. They don't know what hit them. They couldn't work with the Internet, so they tried to prosecute it, which is really fucking dumb. And it seems that they keep fucking up. Every turn they make is the wrong turn. Soon they're going to be out of business in ten years. And it's all because of the Internet.

MetalInsider.net: Do you think it was was easier for up and coming bands to promote themselves back when MOTÖRHEAD first started out, or is it easier now?

Lemmy: It's the same. It's always been the same. There's always people robbing bands. Agents rob you. Managers rob you a lot of the time. We've got a good one now, but we've had a lot of bad ones. The fucking promoters rob you. They tell you that "it hasn't sold out," and you can see that it is. But what are you going to say? They've got all their guys with them, and there's only five of you.

MetalInsider.net: It's just been announced that MOTÖRHEAD will be playing a few dates with the FOO FIGHTERS. You and Dave Grohl have been long time friends and admirers of each other, but how did a tour with both bands finally come to fruition?

Lemmy: Well, the FOO FIGHTERS/Dave asked us to do the shows. So we said "yeah!" I'm hoping there be some sort of collaboration because I really like playing with Dave. He's like me, he's fast and he's good, and that's always fun. I hate these people that take three hours to do a fucking solo, let alone three weeks sometimes.

MetalInsider.net: After all these years, do you still get a kick when well known and popular musicians, like Dave Grohl and even METALLICA, cite you and MOTÖRHEAD as a major influence on them?

Lemmy: Well, METALLICA's starting to feel the old age bite now, aren't they? (laughing) They've been around a long time now. I mean, you can't top METALLICA. They're really a fucking excellent band. I'm delighted that they said that I was one of their influences. Like, they have all of their influences, and you can't hear the influences in them, which is great. They've become their own people, and that's great. I like them a lot. I've spent a lot of time with those boys. There's a clip of me jamming with them in Nashville, Tennessee in the ["Lemmy"] movie.

MetalInsider.net: Have you noticed any big differences between touring today and when the band first started out? A lot of bands lately have been finding it harder to tour because of the latest economic problems. Have you found that to be the case?

Lemmy: Ah, that's fucking bullshit. I mean, we've just sold out every place we've played in America, and this isn't the first time. And the recession is reportedly biting everybody's ass, yet all of these 17 year olds have found it possible to come to the shows, right? So I don't know about this recession. I think it's a bunch of bullshit. I think it's an excuse for the businesses to downsize, as they say, and fire all of the people that they didn't like (laughs). And I think the banks are really, really bad people, man! The banks are getting away with it. Nobody gets put in jail. The government bails them out. Then they say "sorry" and start doing the same thing again. It's fucking disgraceful.

ROTTING CHRIST Mainman: \'I Don\'t Care Anymore About Album Sales\'

Aniruddh "Andrew" Bansal of Metal Assault conducted an interview with Sakis Tolis of Greek extreme metallers ROTTING CHRIST when the band played at the Key Club in West Hollywood, California on March 29 . A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Metal Assault: Do you think the future direction of the band's music would be similar to how the new album sounds?

Sakis: I have no idea. Every ROTTING CHRIST album is a kind of surprise, so we try to surprise our fans album by album. I don't know how the next album will sound, but it will definitely sound metal and ROTTING CHRIST.

Metal Assault: That album released last year. Since that time, have you had a chance to write any new material?

Sakis: Unfortunately, no. It's a nightmare for me actually, because I'm always on tour and don't have the time. I don't feel like writing new stuff while we are on the road. I wish I could, but I can't. So as soon as this tour is over, I will grab my guitar, I will stay in my place, talk to myself, experience new things and then I'll try to write some new stuff.

Metal Assault: Before starting this interview, we were talking about the fact that you're not allowed to play in India. Can you talk to me a little bit about that? What's going on with that?

Sakis: We have often faced problems because of our name. It also happened in India. We thought it wasn't a big deal, and one guy even offered us to go and play there but after a couple of weeks he told me that I shouldn't do the show because things concerning the religion part are a bit scary. India is a very nice country and we really want to go there, but when you're talking about religions, some territories are very offended. All Indians are not Christians but may be they think we'll bring a bad spirit to them. So it's better to not play there. That also happens in Malaysia, Singapore and many territories. We were supposed to do a tour of Southeast Asia but it was cancelled for this reason.

Metal Assault: Do you think you have to do that a lot more in the U.S. as compared to Europe or South America?

Sakis: Oh, yeah. There is no other way to pull more people. If you have to spread your music, you have to tour. Sometimes you're tired because the conditions here in the USA are very hard. The distances are very far. It's not like in Europe. One month of touring here is like three months of touring in Europe, that's how hard the conditions are. The promoters don't even respect the band sometimes. But we try to keep on playing. This is our destiny. We have played almost 1000 shows, so we will never surrender.

Metal Assault: These days, the album sales are not going great. So do you think touring helps in that regard, as people go to shows and pick up the albums?

Sakis: Yeah, they pick up the albums, but they pick up the merchandise and that's what I care more about. I don't care anymore about album sales. I love music and I have thousands of albums in my home, but other people don't buy them. So the best way is to have people buying a t-shirt of the band.

BLAZE BAYLEY: And Then There Was One

British heavy metal vocalist Blaze Bayley (IRON MAIDEN, WOLFSBANE) has released the following statement:

"First of all, thanks again for all the wonderful messages of support I have received in the last few days.

"The mental, financial and emotional strain of keeping the BLAZE BAYLEY band together has proven to be too much for me and has taken a terrible toll on my mental health. As a result of that, I have had to split with the BLAZE BAYLEY band. Now I am just Blaze Bayley, a solo artist and also the lead singer of WOLFSBANE.

"Since Anna [Di Laurenzio, tour manager] and Larry [Paterson, drums] left the BLAZE BAYLEY band, we've tried to do everything ourselves and for me it has been too much. Without a proper manager coordinating concerts, touring, festivals, promotion, record releases and all the finances, it's too much to cope with. Now [that] I've finally taken this incredibly difficult decision, I feel I can breathe again.

"It has been an upsetting, frustrating and sad time because the BLAZE BAYLEY band will not be going on any more, but it is also for me a huge relief and a time to look forward.

"I wish David [Bermudez, bass], Nico [Bermudez, guitar] and Jay [Walsh, guitar] every succes with their future projects and like to thank them for their loyalty, commitment and sharing their musical talent on 'The Man Who Would Not Die' and 'Promise And Terror'. They are arguably two of the best metal albums I have ever made. We have made a live album and a DVD and I am immensly proud of all of those things as well as the incredible concerts we have played to fans all over the world.

"I apologize to my U.K. fans for postponing the upcoming tour. We are still in the process of rearranging all the dates that we can to happen in December.

"The shows I have booked with WOLFSBANE will all go ahead. Also, all the festivals I have booked will go ahead with different musicians.

"I have a lot of plans that I am very excited about for the future and on top of that I am expecting my first child to be born in September.

"Look out for me popping up in different places all over Europe in the summer, because I am still available and being booked for festivals and guest appearances.

"The first two weeks of September is my unplugged acoustic U.K. tour with Jase Edwards from WOLFSBANE, called the 'Blaze And Jase: The Incredible Tour'. The full dates will be announced in the next few weeks. After that, there will be a week of European full metal shows.

"I am going to the USA in October and November for my first-ever headline tour since IRON MAIDEN. I will look forward to seeing all the Blaze Bayley fans over there. After that, the new WOLFSBANE album comes out, hopefully followed by a headline tour with WOLFSBANE of the U.K. and then my own rescheduled U.K. Blaze Bayley tour dates in December.

"Next year, I am planning to do my first acoustic unplugged album with mostly new songs and that should come with an unplugged world tour.

"I'm planning to start work on my next full metal album in 2013.

"Thank you so much everyone for being there for me through these difficult years and for your continued support. Thank you for being my blood and belief."

ONE-WAY MIRROR Begins Recording New Album

ONE-WAY MIRROR — the French band featuring Guillaume Bideau (MNEMIC), David and Franck Potvin (LYZANXIA, PHAZE I), Dirk Verbeuren (SOILWORK) and Loic Colin (SCARVE, WATCHA) — has issued the following update:

"ONE-WAY MIRROR entered the studio to record their [sophomore] album in an unequivocally incendiary atmosphere. With the creative juices flowing, their arses on fire, a smile on their face and a beer bottle in hand, the band chiseled 12 tracks out of mortar in their heaviest musical conflagration to date.

"With this new album they bequeath to us their most perfectly matured and digested works and their will to explode and to please themselves is omnipresent.

"Even though they composed these latest bombtracks in the similar vein of their first album, ONE-WAY MIRROR was able to nurture the! fresh and perfectly controlled combination of violence and pure melodies with catchy components.

"This album is not unlike shrapnel as it will embed itself in your system upon explosion. Some songs will make the fans bang their heads while others will simply decimate them altogether.

"The band’s goal will remain playing the very music they want to listen to. No constraints, no limits or barriers and no rules apply. The musicians of ONE-WAY MIRROR agree that the motivation to compose and to record a metal album is pure pleasure before any other consideration.

"David Potvin and Guillaume Bideau are producing the album and we can already tell that the sound is extremely powerful, natural and modern."

Former BLAZE BAYLEY Musicians Reveal \'True Reasons\' For Band\'s Split

Former members of Blaze Bayley's (IRON MAIDEN, WOLFSBANE) solo band — David Bermudez (bass), Nico Bermudez (guitar) and Jay Walsh (guitar) — have released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET regarding the group's split:

"It is with regret that we confirm that the Blaze Bayley band is now finished. It was not our decision or of our desire for the band to end. The statement released yesterday was not one that we were asked for comment or viewing on.

"The concerts scheduled for May/June said to be rescheduled to December. The promoters and venues have not been informed of this as was highlighted yesterday by the influx of concerned promoters and venues contacting the band members directly yesterday after Blaze's new manager released that statement.

"The claims that health and financial reasons have forced Blaze to take the decision of continuing without the rest of the band are only partially true, to say the very least. Proof of this is that he will continue touring on his own with session musicians fulfilling prior commitments that were contracted as a band and also contracted by the band and also will probably be fulfilled using music written by the band.

"It is because of the great appreciation to the people that have supported this line up unconditionally throughout the last few years and past three CD releases that we feel that is only fair to let them know the true reasons for the band to end.

"It is obvious that it is cheaper and easier for a promoter to fly a solo singer and have him play with a random local musicians or MAIDEN tribute acts that might play for free, or the 'prestige' saving money for the promoter and leaving more financial gain for the contracted artist.

"Our standpoint is that the bands two studio albums, written by the band (quite obviously not Blaze alone) should be promoted by the band itself rather than the musicians being dumped without fair option or choice for the better gain of one band member and one self-appointed girlfriend manager.

"We have not been told the entire truth at any point of these plans since January, and there has been a total disregard and lack of respect paid to the four years we have worked on the music, the planning, and the extensive, very hard ground level touring that has been done across Europe, Russia and South America since early 2008.

"We all will continue writing and making music in the future."

FALCONER - More New Album Details Available

Sweden's FALCONER have set June 3rd in Europe and June 7th in North America as the release dates for their new studio album, Armod, due out via Metal Blade Records as a regular CD and limited edition digipack.

According to a press release, Armod "pays tribute to the influences of folk music. A somewhat more down to earth album with no keyboards but with more fiddles and flutes and everything sung in Swedish to fit the traditional feeling of the songs and atmosphere that has always been the base on which the band stand on. Although the material is embracing the traditional folk music, the major part is still penned by the band itself."

'Dimmornas Drottning'

SEPULTURA, ENSLAVED, UNEARTH Members Celebrate 25th Anniverary Of \'Master Of Puppets\'

In honor of the 25th anniversary of the release of METALLICA's classic "Master Of Puppets" album, AOL's Noisecreep caught up with a "battery" of metal musicians from SEPULTURA to ARSIS to UNEARTH to find out how, when and where they first experienced this most important of records. A couple of excerpts follow below.

Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA): "I was with a female friend of mine who loved metal and had the access to get imported albums. She came to my house one day with 'Master Of Puppets' under her arm. I heard it and was in complete shock. I remember the first song I liked was 'Welcome Home (Sanitarium)'. This was in 1986 and it was a privilege for a Brazilian to hear that album in those days."

Ivar Bjørnson (ENSLAVED): "I was at our singer Grutle's place for a party when he put it on — I guess I was drinking sodas since I was 12 or 13 years old at the time. It wasn't the first METALLICA album I heard — in my defense, I was 8 years old when 'Master Of Puppets' originally came out. Anyhow, Grutle played it in connection with hanging out at his place sometime in 1990 — I think."

Chris Barnes (SIX FEET UNDER): "The first time I heard 'Master Of Puppets', I was a senior in high school, and singing and writing for my first original band, LEVIATHAN, and living outside of Buffalo, New York. The previous year I had the privilege to see METALLICA play live on the 'Ride The Lightning' tour at the Salty Dog in Buffalo, in the middle of a massive blizzard, with 50 other crazed fans who risked their lives getting to that concert. I stood five feet in front of Cliff Burton for the entire show — I'll never forget it."

Mille Petrozza (Vocalist/Guitarist, Kreator): It was at home, at my parents' house. It was a first day buy for me. I still like it to this day, but I think apart from 'Kill 'Em All', 'And Justice For All...' is my favorite album by the Metallica guys.

Marcus Siepen (Guitarist, Blind Guardian) : I immediately bought it on the day it was released. There was a limited edition that came as a double album (vinyl) and I got that one. I bought it on a way to a rehearsal of my old band and we had a record player in our rehearsal room back then. The only problem was that we only had the record player, no proper hi-fi amplifier and also no proper hi-fi speakers, so I used my old Marshall to listen to the album. Later at home when I listened to it again, this time on a proper hi-fi system, it sounded even better, but it still blew me away right from the beginning!

Alex Skolnick (Guitarist, Testament): I remember buying the cassette at Rasputin's (record store) in Berkeley, then listening to it in someone's car. We'd all been waiting for it to come out, and weren't sure what we thought of the title yet – 'Puppets? Why puppets?' But as soon as it came on, all doubts were quickly cast aside. It was a metal masterpiece.

BEHEMOTH Frontman Talks About His Battle With Leukemia

Revolver magazine is hosting the first part of an in-depth interview with in-depth interview with guitarist/vocalist Adam "Negal "Darski of Polish extreme metal veterans BEHEMOTH. In it, he talks about his battle with leukemia, his current health status, and everything he went through. A couple of excerpts follow below.

Revolver: When did you know you had a health problem?

Nergal: I believe it was in June. It was right before we left on a European tour with DECAPITATED. I just started having goosebumps all over my head, and I didn't know the origin of it. I thought it was some kind of skin disease. I was thinking maybe I brought it from some exotic country. I was in Japan before, and I was in Australia a few months earlier. But I was fine, I just had these bumps on my head and diarrhea. All the time it was diarrhea, and it was kind of suspicious. But I just took it easy and was kind of like, OK, maybe this is going to go away. Maybe it's the shitty food on tour. I came back to Poland after the tour, and then I left for Greece for vacation two days later. It was really hot there, but I was having fevers every day. Every time I'd wake up every morning, my whole bed would be covered in water. It was sweat all over, and I was just getting weaker and weaker every day. I was like, Shit, this is something serious. I need to take care of it [as soon as possible]. When I was still in Greece, I started calling doctors and surgeons. They said, "Without blood tests, we can't tell you anything." So after I came back from Greece I felt kind of shitty, and I had breathing problems. And I decided, I have to go to the hospital immediately. So I went to the hospital as soon as I performed at two concerts. I did one with BEHEMOTH and one as a guest vocal with some band. They hardly happened because I was in such bad shape. But somehow I did it. I faked a lot. I couldn't fucking sing, but I faked it. After that, I just traveled across the country and just went to the hospital. After three or four days in the hospital, they moved me to another hospital where they diagnosed me with leukemia.

Revolver: You were in the hospital for a long time waiting for a marrow donor. How were you feeling while you were waiting?

Nergal: Basically, I didn't feel that bad. I had some OK periods, and I had some shitty periods. It depends. When I was on steroids, it was OK. It was bearable. The only problem was I made a lot of energy because of the steroids that I took, so I had to eat a lot and I was growing fat. My face changed and everything. I was just so full of water. It was scary to look in the mirror in the morning. But other than that, I was doing OK. When they gave me chemo, I took it pretty well. There was no side effects. Some of the chemo caused some shitty days. I could hardly walk, but it could have been much worse. Seeing other patients and people dying and stuff, man, I was really lucky. My sickness was an aggressive form — it was very fast, it was invading my body rapidly. But at the same time, my body reacted really, really well to the chemo. So basically after the first dose, the cancer was 50-percent gone. My bone marrow was just a few percent of the cancerous cells that were left in the bone marrow. The doctors were very, very optimistic about the way it was developing and the way of the cure. And I was optimistic, too. It took me six months altogether, with the chemotherapy and the radiotherapy and the transplant to get healthy basically — to get new bone marrow and go back home and start recovery. It was really fast in compared to other patients and other cases. It was fast.

In tomorrow's portion of the Revolver interview, Nergal will talk about his recovery and how his BEHEMOTH bandmates and then-fiancée helped him out. He will also talk about the band's future plans for its 20th anniversary.

7 HORNS 7 EYES Signs With CENTURY MEDIA

Seattle, Washiington-based metallers 7 HORNS 7 EYES have inked a multi-album North American deal with Century Media Records. 7 HORNS 7 EYES will perform at the Revolver Golden Gods official pre-awards-show party on April 19 at the Key Club in West Hollywood, California. The band will support WINDS OF PLAGUE along with AS BLOOD RUNS BLACK, THE DEVASTATED and SUFFER WELL.

DEEP PURPLE: \'Made In Japan Complete\' Due In August

According to JonLord.org, next August will see the release of a new DEEP PURPLE DVD box set containing film all three of the band's Japanese concerts from August 1972.

Titled "Made In Japan Complete", the three-disc box set will coincide with the 39th anniversary of DEEP PURPLE's August 1972 Japanese tour.

Until recently, it was thought only a few minutes of fragmentary film footage existed from one of the shows. All of this was included on the "Deepest Purple" 30th anniversary reissue last year.

Now, several new rolls of film have been unearthed by the band's video archivist, and DEEP PURPLE's former keyboardist Jon Lord is looking forward to their release.

"These are historic recordings that we never even knew existed, but now everyone will be able to experience the band in full flight the way we were over those three very special nights in Japan," he said.

"I particularly look forward to re-living the amazing interplay we had between us. I shall sit myself down with a glass of red and watch it all."
