THANATOSCHIZO: \'Origami\' Artwork Unveiled
 Portuguese avant-garde maniacs THANATOSCHIZO will release their fifth album, "Origami", in October via Major Label Industries. The CD was produced by Guilhermino Martins (THANATOSCHIZO guitarist) and will be mastered by Mike Jussila (RAM-ZET, NIGHTWISH) at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland.
"Origami" was recorded at Teatro de Vila Real (in the band's hometown, Vila Real) and the group's own Blind & Lost Studios in Santa Marta de Penaguião, Portugal. The record features guest appearances by FADOMORSE (a Portuguese group that mixes national folk music with Frank Zappa's delirious moments), BANDA DE MÚSICA DE MATEUS (a local brass and woodwind ensemble) and Ricardo Frade, a young promising percussionist. According to a press release, the CD contains "songs from previous records but with a different touch, approach and edge to them. The more harsh and heavy melodies are going to give place to a more acoustic, experimental and ethnic side of the band's enterprise."  | 0 |  |

IMAGIKA In Writing Mode
 San Francisco Bay Area power/thrash metallers IMAGIKA have commenced writing material for their eighth album for a spring 2011 release via an as-yet-undetermined record label. The follow-up to the band's critically acclaimed "Portrait Of A Hanged Man" effort will once again be engineered by guitarist Steve Rice and mixed by Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND guitarist). The CD will mark the recording debut of new members Rob Kowolski (guitar) and Wayne DeVecchi (drums).
Commented Rice: "The band is definitely ready to kick ass with the new material that has been developing since we've been back from our U.S. tour this past summer. 13 new songs are in the works, and as usual, it will be a departure from our past releases.
"The original idea was to approach this as a concept album, but we agreed that it’s been beat to death by so many other bands that there is no point. I mean, how can you top some of the great metal concept albums like 'Operation: Mindcrime' [QUEENSRŸCHE] or 'Abigail' [KING DIAMOND]? It’s very hard to accomplish and not really our thing at the end of the day. But, after hearing our singer's seemingly endless collection of fruity, flowery Euro power metal while on the tour bus and sparing his iPod a horrible asphalt death, I definitely knew what I didn't want to do! HA! A CD full of progressive, complex and melodic thrash metal is more appealing to me and the band at this point and decidedly the definitive goal for this next release.
"By bringing new blood into the band, there's an aggressive attitude for making a bold statement with a lot to prove! Also being able to approach the recordings as a two-guitar band is inspiring since we haven't done that since our 'My Bloodied Wings' 2006 release.
"It'll be cool to kick it up a notch and bring more shred and harmony to the table this time. All in all, I'm expecting nothing but the best from the band." | 0 | |

DARZAMAT Singer Launches Solo Project NERANATURE
 Nera, the singer of the Polish metal band DARZAMAT, is working on her debut solo album, "Foresting Wounds", which will be released under the name NERANATURE.
Audio samples of four tracks ("Shattered", "Precious Now", "Oblivion" and "Disappointed") that will appear on the CD can be streamed on Nera's MySpace page.
Formed in 2009, NERANATURE "appeared as a space where the air is filled with matters lingering in [Nera's] head, a bit more intimate, private and sometimes bizarre and freakish," according to a press release.
"I've been waiting for a long time for the right place and time to find an outlet for my personal thoughts and beliefs," explains Nera. "This is the time and place." The idea appealed to Chris, the guitarist of DARZAMAT, who created the base for the melodies and completed the project with his music.
The name of the band is a combination of two words: Nera, which is the nickname of the vocalist, and Nature, which represents a reflection of a deep connection with the environment. It can also be interpreted as the nature of Nera — a diversity of views reflected in the songs. The feminine character of lyrics imbued with the feminist outlook on life constitutes one the most significant elements of the projects, touching upon such issues as man's detachment from nature and running away from himself/herself. The approach presented in the album is not only the singer's artistic pose, as Nera has been an engaged animal-rights activist and a vegetarian for the last 15 years.
The music of NERANATURE can be categorized as a mixture of atmospheric rock/metal, ambient and trip rock.
"Foresting Wounds" contains ten compositions — ranging from sensuous ballads to more energetic songs — which were produced by Jaroslaw Toifl.

OZZY OSBOURNE: Tonight\'s Oberhausen Concert Canceled
 Ozzy Osbourne has been forced to postpone tonight's (Thursday, September 16) concert at Oberhausen, Germany's König-Pilsener-Arena after he was diagnosed with a pulled muscle in the back. His doctors have prescribed a period of rest lasting 3-4 days in order for him to undergo ultrasound treatment.
Osbourne regrets any inconvenience that he has caused his fans and thanks them for their support.
"To my German fans — I am very sorry that I have had to postpone this week's concert in Oberhausen," says Ozzy. "But I promise that I will make up to you when I come back with a great show."
Additional details regarding a rescheduled Oberhausen date will be made available shortly.

TESTAMENT Hopes To Begin Recording New Album By End Of Year
 San Francisco Bay Area metallers TESTAMENT have wrapped up the "American Carnage" tour with SLAYER and MEGADETH and are ready to head into writing and recording mode for their upcoming follow-up to 2008's "The Formation Of Damnation".
"The 'American Carnage' tour was great for us, but now is the time for us to hold off on performing and go full steam ahead on getting the record finished," states vocalist Chuck Billy.
"We currently have studio time booked at the end of this year, and we're shooting for a mid-2011 release.
"The new album will most likely be a culmination of 'The Gathering' [1999] and 'The Formation of Damnation', but we're definitely not going to forget who we are or our roots. I think we've found a comfortable spot in our writing style."
Adds guitarist Eric Peterson: "I think the tour went really well for us. It's the first time we had a stage set to our live performance, which was a lot of fun, and it brought the band to a whole new level in regards to performing.
"Playing with MEGADETH and SLAYER again was a lot of fun.
"We're going to be home during the fall and winter working on new material.
"As we speak, I'm working on new music, and we're shooting to record by the end of the year. That's our plan, but we're not going to just put out a record to put out a record. We have standards, and we're picky as to what exactly we want to put out."

BLACK SABBATH\'s \'The Eternal Idol\' Expanded Reissue To Include RAY GILLEN Recordings
 According to a posting on the BLACK SABBATH fan site Black-Sabbath.com, expanded reissues of SABBATH's "Seventh Star" (1986) and "Eternal Idol" (1987) albums — which featured Glenn Hughes (ex-DEEP PURPLE) and Tony Martin, respectively, on vocals — will be made available in the U.K. on October 25 via Sanctuary/Universal.
After just a handful of dates on the 1986 "Seventh Star" tour, Hughes was let go, and singer Ray Gillen was brought on board. Gillen finished the tour, and work began on the next SABBATH album, and it was mostly completed. Gillen left to form BADLANDS (with now-KISS drummer Eric Singer, who also previously played with SABBATH), and this left BLACK SABBATH with a mostly completed album, and no singer. Tony Martin was brought in and re-recorded all the vocals in two weeks. The album came out with Tony Martin, and the only remaining bit of the original Ray Gillen vocals was some laughter in the track "Nightmare".
The original Ray Gillen version of "The Eternal Idol" has been traded in bootleg circles for ages now.
The additional tracks on "The Eternal Idol" expanded reissue include "Some Kind Of Woman" and "Black Moon" (demo) on Disc 1. Disc 2 will comprise the entire Ray Gillen version of "The Eternal Idol" album!

ATLANTEAN KODEX: \'The Golden Bough\' Artwork Unveiled

WITHERED: \"Dualitas\' Cover Artwork, Track Listing Unveiled
 Blackened doom Georgians WITHERED have unveiled the cover art and track listing for their upcoming album, "Dualitas", due on October 26 via Prosthetic Records. The CD and vinyl versions of the record will have different covers, both of which were created by Paul Romano (MASTODON, TRIVIUM, THE ACACIA STRAIN), who also did the cover for WITHERED's previous LP, "Folie Circulaire". A brand new song will launch next week.
WITHERED's third album (second for Prosthetic Records), "Dualitas" was recorded by KYLESA's Phillip Cope at the Jam Room in Columbia, South Carolina.
Prosthetic has launched a pre-order for the album at the label's official webstore.
The vinyl version of "Dualitas" will be a 500-piece limited-edition gatefold double-LP set on 150-gram wax, which contains the exclusive 33-minute instrumental track "Dwell".
The band will be hosting a "Heavy Metal BBQ and Listening Party" on Sunday, September 26 at 5 p.m, at the Masquerade in Atlanta. This is a free, all-ages event which will feature free food and giveaways.
Commented guitarist/vocalist Mike Thompson: "The artwork for 'Dualitas' is extremely integral to the album.
"I worked very closely with Paul Romano on the album concepts and philosophy to help influence initial art concepts which in turn influenced the development of the music and lyrics.
"We are very lucky to have someone like Paul be so passionate about projects like this.
"With the album being primarily based on multiple perspectives regarding spirituality and life paths, Paul has beautifully visualized it with each character within the layout. He did several paintings for this album that can be found throughout the CD packaging and there are even differing pieces in the vinyl packaging as well.
"The wonderful thing about our relationship with Paul is that we intentionally never give any specifics or expectations about the artwork. I simply discuss the concepts and send him demos for the album and let him have a completely blank canvas.
"My biggest fear is that any expectations we may have would hinder the artwork. As a result, we get these images that go way beyond our wildest expectations.
"Looking at this art generates the same emotions in me as our music does and I hope the listeners can get as much from it as I do. It's truly brilliant."

"It is not easy for us to announce that FOREVER IT SHALL BE is dead.
"After four years and two released records, we decided to pack our bags and move on.
"There is no spectacular story behind this, no bad blood within the band or anything like that — there's just no motivation left to continue the band.
"We've had a great time, toured Europe with awesome bands like THE HAUNTED, ALL SHALL PERISH and NEAERA, and met some really nice and cool people down the road.

 Bassist/vocalist Thomas "Angelripper" Such of veteran German thrashers SODOM has joined forces with longtime friend Detlef "Magic" Lauster in a brand new project called DIE KNAPPEN (old German word for "miner"). The group's debut album, "Auf Kohle Geboren", will be released on November 12.

SIGHT OF EMPTINESS: \'Burning Silence\' Video Released
 "Burning Silence", the new video from Costa Rica-based melodic extreme metal band SIGHT OF EMPTINESS, can be viewed below. The clip was filmed on May 9, 2010 when SIGHT OF EMPTINESS supported MEGADETH in front of 15,000 metalheads at Autodromo La Guacima in San Jose, Costa Rica.
This was not be the first time SIGHT OF EMPTINESS was chosen to be the opening act for an international act in Costa Rica. They were previously handpicked by both DARK TRANQUILLITY and AMON AMARTH to open their shows in the country. \'The Big Four\' Super Deluxe Box Set: First Photo Available

LOCH VOSTOK Bassist Forced To Sit Out Tour; Temporary Replacement Announced
 Swedish melodic death metallers LOCH VOSTOK have issued the following update:
"Unfortunately [bassist] Tomas 'Tym' Jonsson has to sit out [our European] tour [with Swedish progressive/experimental metallers THERION and Norway's LEPROUS]. His herniated spinal disc is causing him excruciating pain and doctors strongly advised him not to go on tour.
"Life's a bitch, and Tym is really pissed off. We all wish him a speedy recovery and our thoughts are with him all the time.
"Luckily for LOCH VOSTOK, bass virtuoso Jimmy Mattsson from PLANET RAIN will help us out."

THE ETERNAL Working On 'Under A New Sun' Video
 Melbourne, Australia's dark rockers THE ETERNAL are putting the finishing touches on a video for the title track of their fourth full-length album, "Under A New Sun". The clip will make its online debut in late October.
"Under A New Sun" will be released in Australia and Japan in late January 2011 and will be followed by an Australian tour. The CD was recorded at 301 Studios in Byron Bay with acclaimed producer and multi-platinum recording artist Jeff Martin (THE ARMADA, THE TEA PARTY). Songtitles set to appear on the follow-up to 2008's "Kartika" include "The Sleeper", "Control", "Under A New Sun", "A Thousand Shades of You", "Collapse" and "Cast In Stone".
The cover artwork for "Under A New Sun" can be found below. The band states, "The cover and several images in the booklet are based on photography by fantastic Romanian photographer Felicia Simion. Her photography really touched us and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do."

THE ETERNAL recently made a new DVD, "Kartika World Tour 2009", available exclusively via the band's web site. The disc contains the "Kartika World Tour" and "The Making Of Kartika" documentaries as well at two promotional videos and plenty of photos.

 Behind-the-scenes footage from the recording sessions for "What Lies Beneath", the sophomore solo album from formerNIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen, can be viewed below (courtesy of AOL's Noisecreep).
"What Lies Beneath" is being released in North America today (Tuesday, September 14) via The End Records. The CD's first single, "Falling Awake" (featuring Jason Hook from FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH), was released August 17 as a limited-edition seven-inch single through The Omega Order and available August 24 at all digital outlets . The track is backed with "The Good Die Young" — a song from the SCORPIONS' most recent album that features Tarja's vocals.
