JIMI HENDRIX To Be Inducted Into FENDER Hall Of Fame
 Fender Musical Instruments Corp. (FMIC) has announced that it will honor rock legend Jimi Hendrix and founding employee George Fullerton at its fourth annual Fender Hall of Fame induction ceremony, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2010, at the Tempe Center of the Arts in Tempe, Ariz.
The Fender Hall of Fame was created in 2007 as an annual celebration of Fender founders, artists, leaders, innovators and other historically significant figures, and as an institution in which their contributions to the company's legacy are permanently commemorated.
Special guests at the 2010 induction ceremony will include Janie Hendrix, Eddie Kramer, Geoff Fullerton, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Chris Layton.
Janie Hendrix, CEO of Experience Hendrix LLC, is the central figure in preserving and protecting the ongoing legacy of her legendary stepbrother, Jimi Hendrix. As the head of the Hendrix estate for nearly a decade, she will be present at the induction ceremony that afternoon to accept the honor on behalf of Jimi Hendrix and the Hendrix family.
Over a career spanning nearly half a century, world-famous recording producer and engineer Eddie Kramer is well known as the man who recorded Jimi Hendrix; playing an integral role in recording every seminal Hendrix album from the 1967 debut "Are You Experienced" to 1971's "The Cry of Love". Kramer is unquestionably one of the most renowned and well-respected producer/engineers in rock history; his work has also included famous albums for THE BEATLES, THE ROLLING STONES, LED ZEPPELIN, DAVID BOWIE, PETER FRAMPTON and many other artists.
Fender's own Geoff Fullerton is the son of George Fullerton, one of Leo Fender's best friends, first employees and key right-hand men during Fender's original 1940s-1960s golden age. A generation later, Geoff Fullerton has lent his own talents as a builder to the Fender Custom Shop in Corona, Calif.; he remains there today and will be on hand at the induction ceremony to accept the honor on behalf of his father and family.
The fourth annual Fender Hall of Fame induction ceremony will also feature a musical performance by noted blues guitarist/singer/songwriter Kenny Wayne Shepherd, ably backed by premier electric blues drummer Chris Layton, formerly of DOUBLE TROUBLE and also known for his work with a variety of artists, including STORYVILLE, ARC ANGELS, DOYLE BRAMHALL II and many others.

ILL NINO: New Album Title Revealed
 New Jersey/New York band ILL NINO has set "Dead New World" as the title of its new album, tentatively due this fall via Victory Records.
Commented ILL NINO drummer Dave Chavarri: "ILL NINO has been working around the clock writing and jamming every day, and the new songs are coming out fuckin' nuts!!
"Our new CD is everything you expect from ILL NINO's original Latin metal sounds; it's heavy as fuck, full of Cristian [Machado] growling vocals, melodic choruses, tribal Latin rhythms, sick guitars, as well as also being the most progressive record we've ever recorded!!!
"We have never put out the same CD twice, and our Victory Records release, 'Dead New World', will prove that once again.
"We will be touring throughout 2010 and 2011, so joins us in our 'Dead New World'."

ADAGIO Working On New Material
 Guitarist Stéphan Forté, keyboardist Kevin Codfert and vocalist Mats Levén of the France-based neo-classical metal band ADAGIO are working on material for the group's fifth album at Kevin's XFade studio in Nanterre, France.
Commented Stéphan: "For the first time, I will not compose the whole music and lyrics alone, as Mats, Kevin and the guys will also collaborate to the writing!! It will definitely bring a fresher sound to the band, and so far, the experience is awesome.
"Mats arrived here on Sunday, and we've started working right away on some ideas. Lots of great melodic vocal lines, heavy riffing and intense piano parts are coming naturally, so that's a very positive start. Another big change is since I've down tuned my Lâg seven-string [guitar] to A for my solo album, [and] I am now using that for ADAGIO's new stuff as well, so be prepared for some really heavy shit."

TONY IOMMI Says Upcoming RONNIE JAMES DIO Tribute Concert Will Be A One-Off
 Surviving HEAVEN & HELL members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice will play a very special tribute to their fallen bandmate, Ronnie James Dio, at this year's High Voltage festival on July 24 at Victoria Park in London, England. The musicians will be joined by legendary former DEEP PURPLE and BLACK SABBATH man Glenn Hughes and Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande, who sings for power metallers MASTERPLAN and has just released his own tribute to Ronnie.
Proceeds from this performance will go to the Ronnie James Dio "Stand Up And Shout" Cancer Fund.
Speaking to U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine, Iommi said, "We thought it would be nice to do a final thing for Ronnie. To be honest, we didn't expect to be playing again. It's certainly going to be a strange feeling."
He added, "This is going to be the only one. It would have been good, I suppose, for other people to have seen it, but this is something that we needed to do for ourselves as well."

DORO PESCH, KAI HANSEN, DOOGIE WHITE, AXEL RUDI PELL To Perform At DIO Tribute Concert
 Axel Rudi Pell (STEELER), Doro Pesch (WARLOCK), Doogie White (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, RAINBOW, CORNERSTONE, TANK) and Kai Hansen (GAMMA RAY, HELLOWEEN) are among the musicians who will perform at a tribute/charity concert to celebrate the life and work of Ronnie James Dio and to raise funds for the "Stand Up And Shout" cancer awareness charity set up by Ronnie's wife/manager Wendy Dio. The show will take place next Monday, July 12 at Zeche in Bochum, Germany.
Commented Doogie: "I was deeply, deeply saddened when I heard Ronnie had died. I was alone in a 'strange city' in a 'strange land,' taking a tourist bus tour of the city, when the text messages breaking the news started coming through. I had to abandon the bus tour and stuck on the headphones and listened to 'Follow The Tears' and 'To Live For The King'.
"With [Argentinean rock band] RATA BLANCA in that 'strange land,' we played 'Catch The Rainbow' every night of the tour [see video below].
"Even though spoken language was a barrier most of the time, three words united everyone in the halls we played, every night. We sang together, we shed tears together and we remembered. We remembered the music the words and the man.
"The three words were... Ronnie James Dio.
"I am very happy and humbled to asked to sing a few songs that were a huge part of my musical education. I will try and do them justice. Maybe there will be more tears... Who can say?? Music Painter To Turn Music Of IRON MAIDEN Into Art
 VirtualFestivals.com reports that the organizers of the U.K.'s Sonisphere festival have commissioned music painter Kilford to turn the music of IRON MAIDEN and IGGY AND THE STOOGES into art as they perform.
It will be the first time that either act has been painted by the star and the first time this has happened at a rock festival.
Kilford sees colors when he hears music; he starts painting on the first note of the performance and ends on the last and has painted live alongside some of the world's greatest bands.

STAIND To Begin Work On Next Album This Fall, Says Singer
 According to The Pulse of Radio, STAIND frontman Aaron Lewis has finished work on his long-in-the-making debut solo album, but doesn't expect to release it until after the next record from STAIND arrives. Lewis told The Pulse of Radio that he wants to finish out STAIND's current recording contract before putting out his own project. "Once STAIND goes in this fall and does their final record, then when I go and do my actual solo record it's free and clear of any record label obligations," he said. "These days with viral marketing and everything else that you can do as an alternative means of getting music out there, we're gonna try to do it outside the box a little bit."
Although Lewis at one point planned to issue a live solo recording this year as a preview of the full studio effort, those plans seem to be hold for now.
The singer told Billboard that he and the rest of STAIND will probably regroup after a year-long break in November to begin writing the follow-up to 2008's "The Illusion Of Progress".
Lewis said his solo album has a definite "country flavor" to it, explaining, "It's acoustic guitar based and I recorded it in Nashville with a bunch of country session musicians. So it's kind of somewhere between country and James Taylor and 'It's Been A While'."
The proposed first single, "Country Boy", features guest spots by Hank Williams Jr., George Jones and Charlie Daniels. Lewis plans to tour behind the record when it is released.

SHADOWS FALL, UNEARTH, SEEMLESS Members Launch New Project, Seek Vocalist
 An as-yet-unnamed project featuring Matt Bachand and Jon Donais (both of SHADOWS FALL) on guitar, Derek Kerswill (UNEARTH, SEEMLESS) on drums, and Jeff Fultz (SEEMLESS) on bass, has begun to take shape. The band has recorded a five-song demo and is actively seeking a vocalist.
"We are looking for one crazy bastard with the energy, the drive, and the determination to take this thing to the next level," says Bachand. Donais adds, "The vocalist we seek should be influenced by a variety of melodically based bands anywhere from ALICE IN CHAINS, SHINEDOWN, and AEROSMITH, to SKID ROW and PANTERA."
All applicants must be serious about the position and must be able to tour extensively. Submissions should include a bio and list of past experience, photo, audio and/or video performance, and any other information you would like the band to know.

"The winter of three is near and with that comes the firstborn of KING OF ASGARD.
"We are very pleased with what we've achieved in all aspects of this coming album. The whole production is really in the face, much thanks to [engineer an co-producer] Andy [La Rocque; KING DIAMOND guitarist] who easily understood us, getting the brutal and bombastic sound we wanted. Musically, we're talking a blend of dark folk, death metal and so forth. Much reflected by our musical past. Straight-forward, hard-hitting vs. melody and settled melancholy. The lyrical approach comes mainly in ancestral portraits, Norse mythology, Viking sagas and myths with the reflection of our personal ideals and touch. KING OF ASGARD was formed in 2008 by Karl Beckman (ex-MITHOTYN) after he dissolved his latest musical projects. He teamed up with Karsten Larsson (FALCONER), a one-time accomplice in the defunct viking horde MITHOTYN, and the decision was made to go back to their roots both musically as well as heading for their Norse heritage in lyrical approach. With creativity flowing, numerous songs were written and KING OF ASGARD recorded a seven-track demo, "Prince Of Märing", at Lotang Studio. In late 2009 Jonas Albrektsson joined the ranks on bass to strengthen the lineup further.
KING OF ASGARD features members of such acts as MITHOTYN, FALCONER, THY PRIMORDIAL, INDUNGEON and DAWN.

The vocals were finished today... Until the last song recorded was destroyed in some sort of computer crash. We're of course not too happy about this, especially since the vocal performance on the song was great BUT we'll re-record tomorrow. Then the vocals will be finished for sure."

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE To Begin Work On New Album
 According to The Pulse of Radio, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE and THEM CROOKED VULTURES guitarist and singer Josh Homme told RollingStone.com that once the QUEENS finish a run of European festival dates they'll settle into making their sixth studio album this fall. He said, "I have ideas already, absolutely. It's all about wiggling hips. The music is gonna go further down that strange and lovely path of (2007 effort) 'Era Vulgaris'." Homme added that he hopes to have the new QUEENS record out by the middle of next year.
In the meantime, fans will have to content themselves with the deluxe reissue of the band's second album, 2000's "Rated R", which will arrive this fall with B-sides and a complete concert included.
Homme hinted that the group has also played with the idea of performing all five of their albums in concert, explaining, "We've talked about how much we enjoyed when CHEAP TRICK performed their first three records and we've thought about doing five nights for each record. It's been discussed — after a few shots."
Homme has also revived his custom record label, Rekords Rekords, and plans to launch a new series of his famous "Desert Sessions" jam sessions, a box set of all the previous "Desert Sessions" recordings and the solo debut from QUEENS and THEM CROOKED VULTURES guitarist Alain Johannes. That album, called "Spark", is due out August 31.

RAGE Extends Deal With NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS
 German power metallers RAGE have extended their deal with Nuclear Blast Records.
"We are happy that our common history will continue," the band said in a statement. "At Nuclear Blast we really feel at home and we look forward to all upcoming projects. After the great success of [the last RAGE album] 'Strings To A Web', we are even more motivated and we saw the same energy in Nuclear Blast as well."
"Strings To A Web" entered the Media Control chart in the band's home country at position No. 27. Released on February 5 via Nuclear Blast Records, the CD was recorded at Twilight Hall Studio and was produced by Charlie Bauerfeind (BLIND GUARDIAN, HAMMERFALL). The cover artwork was created by Thomas Ewerhard (AVANTASIA, THERION), and it shows the soundchaser as a spider, caught in a web.
The special two-track single, "Into The Light / Purified", was released on January 15.
The limited-edition digibook version of "Strings To A Web" includes a high-quality DVD including 15 live clips. The main portion of the DVD consists of the "best-of" show RAGE played at the Wacken Open Air festival in 2009, including guest appearances by Hansi Kürsch (BLIND GUARDIAN), Schmier (DESTRUCTION) and Jen Majura (BLACK THUNDER LADIES).
"Strings To A Web" includes melodic and anthemic tracks such as "Into The Light" and "The Beggar's Last Dime", as well as powerful thrashers like "Purified" and "Tomorrow Never Comes". But the heart of the record comes in the shape of the 16-minute masterpiece "Empty Hollow", a progressive fairytale that unites everything RAGE is about.

AMORPHIS\' \'Skyforger\' Certified Gold In Finland
 "Skyforger", the new album from Finnish metallers AMORPHIS, has been certified gold in Finland for sales in excess of 15,000 copies. (Note: The sales requirement for albums to reach gold status in Finland was recently lowered to 10,000, but because "Skyforger" was released before this change took effect, the old rules still apply.) The bandmembers were presented with their gold plaques last night (Tuesday, July 6) at a release party for their first-ever live DVD, "Forging The Land Of Thousand Lakes", at Cinema Andorra in Helsinki.
"Skyforger" was honored in the "Metal Album Of The Year" category at this year's Emma Gaala (Finnish Grammy equivalent).
AMORPHIS was nominated in two categories at the Emma Gaala — "Metal Album Of The Year" and "Domestic Artist Of The Year".
"Skyforger" sold around 1,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 33 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
"Skyforger" entered the official chart in the band's home country at position No. 1. Released in May 2009 via Nuclear Blast Records, the follow-up to the "Eclipse" and "Silent Waters" LPs, both of which were certified gold in the band's native Finland, was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki.

BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION - Debut Album Artwork Revealed
 BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION the Anglo/American rock supergroup featuring vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH, TRAPEZE), drummer Jason Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN, BONHAM), Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, BILLY IDOL, ALICE COOPER and blues rock guitarist JOE BONAMASSA, will release their debut album in the UK and the rest of Europe on Monday, September 20th via Mascot Records, followed by a North American release through J&R Adventures on Tuesday, September 21st.

Vocalist SNOWY SHAW Quits THERION
 ocalist Snowy Shaw has quit Swedish progressive/experimental metallers THERION after four years, two studio albums, live DVDs and numerous tours around the world.
"I've had a terrific and great time touring and working with THERION and I do wish them nothing but the best in the future, but I've felt for some time that it's time for me to move on," Snowy told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "I also wanna take the opportunity to show my gratitude and thank all the loyal fans for their support, love and understanding."
Shaw — who has previously toured and/or recorded with DREAM EVIL, KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE, MEMENTO MORI and NOTRE DAME, among other acts — was forced to sit out this weekend's show with THERION at the Rockharz festival in Germany due to sickness. This would have been Snowy's last appearance with the band.

The clip was helmed by acclaimed director David Brodsky of My Good Eye (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, IN THIS MOMENT, THE RED CHORD) and Finnish producer Anssi Kippo (CHILDREN OF BODOM, NORTHER).

New EVANESCENCE Album Delayed?
 According to The Pulse of Radio, the new album from EVANESCENCE, originally slated to come out this fall, now looks like it could get pushed back to a yet-to-be-determined release date. Lead singer and sole original member Amy Lee wrote online, "We've taken some time out of the studio to get our heads into the right creative space, work on the songs and even write some more music," adding, "We'll be back in the studio recording the album soon enough. I think that it can only be stronger for this extra time we're putting into it."
Lee also hinted at problems with the band's label, Wind-Up Records, saying, "My record label has been going through some very uncertain times, as are many record labels, and that's made things a little unclear....we really want to make sure the whole machine is working together when it's time to put out the album."
EVANESCENCE has not released an album since 2006's "The Open Door".
Lee told The Pulse of Radio in March that she had around 16 songs written for the band's third effort, saying that she thought taking the extra time was worth it. "I really feel like I'm making the best album of my life," she said. "I wouldn't here in the studio, making another record, if I didn't think it was going to be better than anything I'd ever done. I love to grow. I love to listen to what the music can do when you don't give it any rules. That's always been a part of me. It's been a while for sure, but the incubation of a lot of these songs is what's making them great."
Lee told RollingStone.com last spring that the new EVANESCENCE record would incorporate influences from dance-rock and electronic acts like DEPECHE MODE, MGMT and PORTISHEAD.

SLAYER Drummer, ANTHRAX Guitarist Are Hoping For More \'Big Four\' Dates
 The Sonisphere web site recently spoke to SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo and ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian to get their thoughts on the possibility of the "Big Four" tour — featuring METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX — playing other parts of the world following a recent short European run.
"I really hope the future of the 'Big Four' continues," Lombardo said. "I hope we do a worldwide tour and other planets even. We need to continue this because the fans they love it. There are METALLICA fans who were maybe scared to go to a SLAYER concert, but now they can see both of them and see that SLAYER isn't as scary as maybe most people might think."
Ian concurred: "We hear the rumor on the Internet that there will be more 'Big Four' shows and as far as rumors go it's one of the best ones I've heard lately."
