MYSTIC PROPHECY Announces New Drummer
 German/Greek metal band MYSTIC PROPHECY has announced the addition of drummer Claudio Sisto to the group's ranks.
Commented Sisto: "I'm half Italian but was born in Southern Germany. In 1996 I got my first drum lessons and so far I played in bands like CONTRACRASH, MANTIKOR and UNGEHOBELT. With CONTRACRASH I released an album, rocked the Bang Your Head!!! festival in 2008 and also toured Germany and Finland. In May 2010 I joined MYSTIC PROPHECY claiming the vacant drum kit's seat and I can't wait to kick ass with the guys!!!"
MYSTIC PROPHECY is hard at work on material for its seventh studio album for a tentative April 2011 release.
Commented MYSTIC PROPHECY mainman/producer R.D. Liapakis: "After months of trying and auditioning, we finally found the man for the job. Claudio is not only a very powerful drummer but also the chemistry between us is ideal in order to make great heavy metal music and tour together.
"A band is like a family — if the chemistry isn't right the results are obvious on the music. This is why I feel Claudio is going to be appropriate man for the job.
"As for our new album, 'Fireangel' has been a big success and our fans were very pleased by the result so the new one has to be better or at least equally good.
"I admit that I am always anxious about how people will react to our music. However, so far playing music that comes from our hearts has always led us to good releases and I am confident this album will be no exception to the story so far.

SYMPHONY X: New Album Update
 North America's progressive metal gods SYMPHONY X recently entered the studio to begin laying down the drum tracks for the band's next studio album, tentatively due before the end of the year via their new record label, Nuclear Blast Records. According to the band's webmaster, "the drums and most of the rhythm guitars are all recorded. At the moment, they are fine-tuning the lyrics and melodies, during which time Russ [Allen] will also be recording his vocals.
Jason Rullo of North America's progressive metal gods SYMPHONY X is scheduled to enter the studio today (Thursday, March 18) to begin laying down the drum tracks for the band's next studio album, tentatively due mid-2010 via their new record label, Nuclear Blast Records. The band's
SYMPHONY X guitarist Michael Romeo previously stated about the group's new material, "We have over an hour of really good stuff that we really dig; there's more than enough stuff there that we can choose the best songs to go on the CD... but all of the songs are really strong. One is shaping up to be 10 minutes plus.
"I think everyone will like it," Romeo concluded. "It has a little bit of everything."

PARADISE LOST\'s \'Draconian Times\' To Be Reissued On Limited-Edition Burgundy Vinyl
 "Draconian Times", the seminal 1995 album from U.K. gothic metal pioneers PARADISE LOST, will be reissued on vinyl on July 26 via Peaceville Records. This vinyl edition is numbered and limited to 2000 copies and comes on double 180-gram burgundy-colored vinyl in a gatefold sleeve and printed inner sleeves and liner notes from the album's producer, Simon Efemy.
"Draconian Times" was recorded at Great Linford Manor and Ridge Farm Studios, England, with the prolific writing partnership of Nick Holmes (vocals) and Greg Mackintosh (vocals) creating something beyond even their previous albums, while retaining the strong union of atmosphere and melody, particularly with the identifiable and often-copied guitar tone and playing style.
"Draconian Times" is often referred to as the peak of the band's creativity, and established PARADISE LOST as a truly world- class act.

MEGADETH\'s DAVE MUSTAINE And SLAYER\'s KERRY KING Discuss The \'Big Four\' Tour
 Chris Krovatin of Revolver magazine tracked down SLAYER guitarist Kerry King in Austria and MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine in Warsaw, Poland to discuss the two bands' participation in the so-called "Big Four" European dates — a series of Sonisphere festival appearances featuring METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX, the four originators of 1980s thrash. A couple of excerpts from the discussion follow below.
Revolver: How did the "Big Four" tour come about?
King: It was something that was trying to be made happen, so it just took everyone signing off on it. I gotta tell you, man, I can't believe, in the 27 years since we put our first record out, that no one's tried to make this happen. Because now that it is happening, it's so cool, it's so important, that every territory in the world wants it. I don't know what took so long.
Mustaine: We had some opportunities to do these festivals, and we had been doing the Carnage dates [with SLAYER], which were of course so popular in the States and Canada. For me, personally, I didn't see it coming… Having dinner with Lars [Ulrich] the other night, he told me that he had talked to SLAYER's tour manager a year and a half ago about whether or not this was gonna happen, and I thought, God, I'm so glad I didn't know about this a year and a half ago, because I would've had to spend every day with that "I've got a big gig coming" brain.
Revolver: For a long time, it seemed like there was bad blood between you guys, specifically between SLAYER and MEGADETH, and MEGADETH and METALLICA. What squashed that beef?
King: Before we did the Australian and Japanese run with MEGADETH, I was reading the Revolver SLAYER issue, and reading this interview we did with Dave. And I just couldn't remember why I wasn't friends with this dude anymore — I could not remember what I was upset about. So we get to the airport, and I saw him coming out of the lounge, and I came up, shook his hand, and said, "Hey, dude, I don't think I've talked to you in about 15 years!" We have a shitload of dates coming up, and honestly, when I've talked to him, I remember the guy I dug 25 years ago.
Mustaine: We've just learned how to step back see what we stand for in the world, the "Big Four," and how each band has contributed to that in its own way. I had a huge turnaround on my whole outlook at life walking into this tour, these dates, with just a brand new relationship. The first person I talked to was [METALLICA guitarist] Kirk [Hammett]. We talked for a while, and then at dinner, I sat next to James [Hetfield] and Lars, and it was cool to look at it — just how much we changed the world… Twenty years ago, this tour probably wouldn't have happened — we were all young, and we weren't dealing with the fame too well.
Revolver: What do SLAYER represent in the "Big Four?"
King: We represent all that is evil in the "Big Four," and historically, I think we've represented thrash the best, but it's funny, just how these four bands from this same movement went off to become different entities.
Revolver: What about MEGADETH?
Mustaine: Our lyrics are a little deeper than some of the others, but we're each different in that way — SLAYER's lyrics are really different from ANTHRAX's. We're really just like a four-paned window, you know — four different vantage points, all getting across that same message.
Revolver: Since METALLICA is headlining these shows, Kerry, should they be worried about getting blown off the stage by one of you?
King: The one thing I'm not happy about — and we didn't know this until we got here — is that it's not always the "Big Four" in a row. Some days, there are bands in between us, and that's kind of a bummer. A night ending with ANTHRAX, MEGADETH, and SLAYER would be brutal. I have nothing against those other bands, but I didn't know about that. But yeah, we open for METALLICA some nights. I've seen METALLICA twice on this tour, and they may not have all the spiel and bells and whistles they had in the States, but they've been killing it. They're pros, man, they'll have no problem. That said, man, our set's brutal, and it ain't there to make friends.

STONE SOUR Prepares To Reveal New \'Secret\'; Slipknot\'s Future In Doubt

one Sour, the Grammy-nominated alt-metal band fronted by Slipknot singer Corey Taylor, will release "Audio Secrecy" on Sept. 7, the group's first new release in nearly four years. Taylor wasn't sure what kid of reaction the new music would get from fans.
So late last week, Taylor was pleasantly surprised when new song "Mission Statement" was downloaded over 50,000 times for free during a special 48-hour period at the group's website.
"I'm just sort of blown away and ecstatic," Taylor says. "There's a lot of buzz and people are really stoked. This album is not only better than the first two Stone Sour albums combined, to me it's the most well-rounded and diverse album I've ever been able to make. The music is just so visceral, and 'Mission Statement' is a perfect example of where it's at. That's a great anthem. It's got a little bit of the heavy but also is melodic as hell."
There's no secret that Stone Sour provides Taylor with creative expression and exploration that he's unable to attain with Slipknot's aggressive style. Taylor declined to comment directly about the recent death of Slipknot bassist Paul Gray, he did offer a "too soon to say right now" regarding the masked band's future.
"Yeah, I get a lot of latitude," Taylor says. "As diverse as Slipknot is, it's always kind of a cornerstone for a certain kind of music and I love that, I really do. We kind of set the standards and defined a genre for a while. And to me, I'll never take anything away from that but it has always been very locked in that sort of style. We've broken away and done some different things but we've always come back to what makes us us. With Stone Sour, there aren't those boundaries or locks or chains. I think that's what has kept us moving, right out of the gate that we're not afraid to take chances and do our own thing."
Currently overseas playing European festivals for the rest of this month, Stone Sour returns with stateside dates on the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival coming in August. Taylor hints fans can expect to hear new tracks such as lead single "Say You'll Haunt Me" (ships to modern and rock radio July 6), the prog-rockish "Digitial" and the heavy "The Bitter End."
Looking ahead, the group plans on visiting Japan, Australia and Canada, as well as a return visit to Europe, before mounting its own headlining American run next spring.
"Right now I'm looking at a year and a half of my life," Taylor says. "We're just going to tour the world and have a good time."

After our show at Sauna Open Air, he left at 3:00 in the morning, took a two-hour car ride to Helsinki airport, flew to Zurich, Switzerland, drove two hours to play the Greenfield Festival with SEPULTURA at 3:00 in the afternoon, walked onstage after not seeing the guys for a month and tore it up! ...and his day was far from over as he then drove two hours back to the airport to catch a 2:30 a.m. flight to Madrid, got to the hotel at 10:00 a.m. and played with us at Rock In Rio Madrid (then flew to Frankfurt to grab a train to Saarbrucken to meet up with SEPULTURA for the next two months!).

DDT - Doro Alumni Playing Together In New Cover Band

While Nick Douglas (bass), Johnny Dee (drums) and Joe Taylor (guitar) recently performed together under the bassist's moniker, DDT is a new venture intent on filling the gaps between the DORO touring cycle by offering a fan-favorite array of classic rock covers to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.
"During the festival season we play about 10 days and have 40 off," comments Douglas. "There are a bunch of biker gatherings that want (live) entertainment, so we're looking at filling in the gaps in our schedule."
Their debut gig, at Whiskey Tango, in Northeast Philadelphia (June 18, 2010), saw the trio taking turns as lead vocalist, running through the likes of ALICE COOPER (the Dee sung 'I'm Eighteen'), THE CARS ('Candy-O'), GUESS WHO ('American Band'), PINK FLOYD ('Money'), HENDRIX / DYLAN ('All Along The Watchtower'), THE BEATLES ('She's So Heavy') and NEIL YOUNG / BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD ('Mr. Soul').
Joked Dee: "We've spent 17 years of our lives in Germany and we can't speak Germany! We're some dumb Americans."
Douglas and Dee leave June 21st for Europe, to meet up with Doro for their Graspop gig, in Belgium on the 25th.

SPAWN OF POSSESSION: Demo Version Of New Song Posted Online
 Swedish technical death metallers SPAWN OF POSSESSION have posted a rough pre-production version of a new song on their MySpace page. (Click on top song in player.)
Comments guitarist Jonas Bryssling: "The production is pretty bad and muddy. But the production for a pre-prod is not very important anyway. We record pre-prods so we can work with the arrangements and etc. Since we can't rehearse together, we do this instead."
Regarding the progress of the songwriting sessions for SPAWN OF POSSESSION's next album, Bryssling states, "Eight songs are now complete, so there are four songs left to finish up, and the songwriting process has been quite good lately.
"The new songs are more massive (epic), detailed, faster, melodic, brutal, catchier and energetic than the old ones. And so far we are happy with the result. It sounds really close to the vision I got right after the recording of 'Noctambulant', which was to take everything one step further.
"To me, personally, the third album will be the ultimate SPAWN OF POSSESSION album. Because this time I finally got the time to sit down and write down those visions which has been haunting me for years. This would never have been possible with the old members. They were pretty much exhausted and done after 'Noctambulant'. Can't blame them for that; it was a difficult period with a lot of stress and hard work. I was pretty fucked up myself after being isolated for one year of songwriting and practicing.
"I remember when I told Dennis about my new visions after 'Noctambulant', and how he sighed just to think about the amount of work that it would take to write such an album, to practice and to record it. So I'm very grateful for the new members and their positive approach and energy they have put into for SPAWN OF POSSESSION [and for] making a third album possible.
"We have no dates for the new album yet. It's going slow, I know that. But we have other obligations in life besides SPAWN OF POSSESSION. But we are getting closer and closer now."

MEGADETH\'s New Song \'Sudden Death\': Hear It Here First
 A new MEGADETH track called "Sudden Death", which will serve as the finger-busting finale to the forthcoming Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock game, can be heard in its entirety in IGN Entertainment's live demo of the game in the YouTube clip below.
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine tells RollingStone.com the track is brutal, and "I'm sure some fans will think it's the greatest thing we've ever done. But other people will say it sucks. That's just the way of the world."
Mustaine tells RollingStone.com the song has a "funky kind of polyrhythm to it" which will make it even more difficult for the Guitar Hero elite. "Just the sheer repetitiveness of it can blow people's minds," Mustaine explains. "And, my guitar style is way different than [other MEGADETH guitarist] Chris Broderick's. Chris plays with a lot of love and I play with a lot of hate. My guitar playing is explosions, and his is more like fireworks. When you are trying to emulate the two kind of guitar styles, it's tricky. I don't care what anyone says, you've gotta be good."
"I thought it was a great idea for us," says Mustaine. "We've had experience with games in the past, and our songs have been in sports games and Grand Theft Auto, but we never really got into the Guitar Hero thing. When they talked to us about doing this, I never imagined it would be something this honorable."
"Only once in my career have I had this happen before," Mustaine says, referring to 1991's soundtrack for "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey", when the band crafted "Go to Hell". "We had written something and Interscope told me to make the lyrics even darker. Activision heard the track, and said, 'We want more solos on it.' And I said, OK, I can do that.'"

WHITESNAKE Parts Ways With DUFFY, FRAZIER; New Drummer Announced
 Legendary rock band WHITESNAKE has parted ways with bassist Uriah Duffy and drummer Chris Frazier. According to a press release, "WHITESNAKE wish Uriah and Chris every success in pursuing their individual musical careers and express their sincere gratitude for the exceptional contribution they both made to the legacy of the band."
Replacing Frazier as WHITESNAKE's new drummer is Brian Tichy, who has previously played with FOREIGNER, BILLY IDOL, OZZY OSBOURNE and VELVET REVOLVER.
At this time WHITESNAKE is still exploring its options for the position of the band's new bassist.

The clip was created by the Copenhagen, Denmark-based director Michael Panduro (Siegfried Productions), who has previously worked with PSYOPUS and Denmark's indie pop band NO AND THE MAYBES.
Commented Panduro, "I'm doing my best to make videos that are different from what you'd expect in these genres." He added, "Making videos for bands that live around the world makes it near impossible for me to make simple performance videos."

BEHEMOTH Films \'Alas The Lord Is Upon Me\' Video
 Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH have shot a video for the song "Alas The Lord Is Upon Me", taken from the band's latest album, "Evangelion". The clip was produced and directed by Rafal Szermanowicz and Grupa 13, which previously helmed BEHEMOTH's videos for "Ov Fire And The Void" and "At The Left Hand Ov God".
Commented BEHEMOTH guitarist/vocalist Adam "Nergal" Darski: "First of all, we've overcome ourselves with this new video clip. Period. It's something we've wanted to do for a very long time. Pretty much no digital intervention, no blue boxes, no fake shit this time, but great filming, good acting, and a fuckin' awesome storyline. It's disturbing, crazy, and evil. We've had over 70 people working for us on this video so we can easily say it was the biggest production so far. We are beyond excited! Wait and see…"
The director of the video, Dariusz Szermanowicz, commented: "This time we decided to make something different. We'd like to make a video in 'cinematic' style without so many VFX like in last two videos. We found a great location, we had dozen of actors and extras and awesome stylizing. 16 hours of hard work resulted with best video we've ever made!"

SLASH To Receive Star On \'Hollywood Walk Of Fame\' -
 The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced on Thursday (June 17) that legendary guitarist Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES) will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The star will be unveiled sometime in 2011, although a specific date and location have not been confirmed. Others scheduled to be inducted into the Walk of Fame next year include RASCAL FLATTS, Melissa Etheridge, LOS TIGRES DEL NORTE, THE GO-GO'S, Will.I.Am and BeBe and CeCe Winans. The late Buddy Holly and Louis Prima will be inducted posthumously.
Honorees have up to five years from this week's announcement to schedule their respective unveiling ceremonies.

KAMELOT Filming \'The Great Pandemonium\' Video
 American/Norwegian power metallers KAMELOT have tapped Swedish director Owe Lingvall of Village Road Films for the video shoot and production of the song "The Great Pandemonium". The track, which was performed on the band's recently completed European tour, will appear on KAMELOT's upcoming album, tentatively due in September.

Vocalist URBAN BREED Joins DARK EMPIRE
 American progressive metallers DARK EMPIRE have announced the addition of Swedish vocalist Urban Breed (PYRAMAZE, BLOODBOUND, TAD MOROSE) to the group's ranks. Urban replaces Jens Carlsson (PERSUADER, SAVAGE CIRCUS), who split from the band on good terms in 2008.
Commented DARK EMPIRE bandleader/guitarist Matt Moliti: "I cannot express how thrilled I am to be collaborating with Urban. His vocals have the perfect blend of power and dynamics that I think will truly take DARK EMPIRE's music to the next level. I'm excited as hell for people to hear the material!"
Demo samples from DARK EMPIRE's forthcoming third album, "From Refuge To Ruin", will be posted to the band's MySpace page in the coming weeks.
Regarding the sound of DARK EMPIRE's new songs, Matt said, "The new material has the sound that was established on [2008's] 'Humanity Dethroned', but we've added some new elements, such as seven-string guitars, mellotrons, and a good deal of old-school doom metal and '70s prog-rock influence. I really think these were the missing puzzle pieces and what we're going to present on 'From Refuge To Ruin' is the ultimate culmination of what I started back in 2004. We're looking at nine songs, with two that are near or over the 10-minute mark. We'll also be doing two covers for bonus tracks. More details on all of that to come."
He added, "We will start recording in the fall with producer Jeremy Krull. We're also in talks with drummers, and we should be able to make a final announcement on who will be performing on the album soon. The plans are for a spring 2011 release.”

CIRRHA NIVA Announces New Drummer
 Dutch progressive metallers CIRRHA NIVA have announced the addition of drummer Wiebe Slim (ex-MELORA RAIN) to the group's ranks.
Commented the band: "We already did one show with Wiebe while supporting THE 11TH HOUR, but at that time he was just doin' us a favour. Needless to say that there was a perfect match that day, which resulted in the fact that Wiebe joined the band.
"Wiebe will introduce himself further on this week, but let's reveal something already right now.
"As a drummer he is influenced by Virgil Donati, Thomas Lang, Marco Minneman, Dave Weckl, Steve Smith, Benny Greb, Gavin Harrison, Mike Portnoy and many more. So it's obvious he likes PLANET X, DREAM THEATER, PORCUPINE TREE and SYMPHONY X."
Drummer Tommy White recently left CIRRHA NIVA due to health problems. He said in a statement, "Eight months ago, the feeling in my hands started to disappear and slowly began to cause me problems while playing. In the months after it only got worse and I went from one doctor to another, but they could not find the problem. It became clear to me that the live concerts were in jeopardy as at one point I could not guarantee that I could play a full show."
CIRRHA NIVA's latest album, "For Moments Never Done", was released last September through the band's own independent record label Parnassus Records. The distribution of the album was handled by Suburban in the Benelux and The End Records in the USA/Canada.
"For Moments Never Done" was CIRRHA NIVA's first release with new vocalist Legrand and the group's first CD since the 2001 rock opera "Liaison De La Morte". The band has put aside its earlier theatrical and gothic influences in order to develop a more modern style and sound. According to a press release, "raw melancholic metal riffs, groovy drums and dark grunts will be enlightened with the powerful clean sometimes almost poppy and soulful, lead vocals of Legrand."
"For Moments Never Done" was produced by Jochem Jacobs and Bouke Visser at Split Second Sound Studio (TEXTURES, AUTUMN, STREAM OF PASSION) and Excess Recording Studio (AYREON, AFTER FOREVER, GOREFEST). It features seven songs with a total running time of approximately 47 minutes.

Former VISIONS OF ATLANTIS Singer Joins VOIDWORK
 Singer Melissa Ferlaak (AESMA DAEVA, VISIONS OF ATLANTIS, ECHOTERRA) has joined VOIDWORK, the "dark, ambient" project featuring Xavier (vocals, lyrics and music) and Ann-Mari Thim (vocals and lyrics).
Melissa holds a Master's degree in "vocal performance with emphasis on opera" from Boston's New England Conservatory of Music, has performed many opera roles and is the current lead singer for symphonic metal band ECHOTERRA.
Commented VOIDWORK in a statement: "We warmly welcome Melissa and her amazing voice and look forward to the new dimension she will certainly add to our music. Together with Ann-Mari Thim (ARCANA, SEVENTH HARMONIC), she will be heard on the next release, 'Basement', which is scheduled for an autumn 2010 release."
Speaking about the project, Melissa had this to say: "I'm very excited to be working on dark, ambient music again with Xavier and Ann-Mari.
"When [Xavier] wrote me about singing in VOIDWORK, I was instantly charmed by what I heard. It will be a great complement to my work in ECHOTERRA and I can't wait to begin diving into these masterpieces."
VOIDWORK started in 2008 with the purpose of creating a haunting musical atmosphere. The concept is inspired by early 20th century supernatural literature and more recent horror cinema. In order to add a more diverse vocal sound, Ann-Mari Thim joined VOIDWORK in the spring of 2009.
VOIDWORK's debut album, "Asylum", was released in June 2009 through Essentia Mundi. The second album, "Forsaken", as well as the third release, "Horror", are available on one CD.

Former SCORPIONS Drummer HERMAN RAREBELL Is Back With \'Take It As it Comes\'
 Few metal drummers have a name as recognizable as Herman Rarebell. And with good reason. After all, it was Rarebell's drumming that helped propel the SCORPIONS into one of the 1980s' most successful rock bands (as well as co-penning the all-time classic "Rock You Like A Hurricane"). And Herman is back once more with his latest album, "Take It As it Comes", which was recently released via Dark Star Records.
A kick-ass, rockin' good time, the album is available as a standard version, as well as a limited-edition box set, which comes with two discs and a card autographed by Herman ze German himself.
The new single from "Take It As it Comes" is the appropriately-titled "Let Me Rock You", which has an add date at radio of June 3.
Herman will also be in the U.S. starting July 12 in New York City until July 30, ending in L.A., visiting radio and press nationwide supporting the new radio single. This will also tie in with a July 24 special appearance with the MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP at this year's Rock N' America festival, at the Oklahoma City Zoo Amphitheatre in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Commented Herman: "I guess most of you guys know me as the former drummer of the SCORPIONS. Together with my friends Rudolf, Matthias, and Klaus, I enjoyed twenty truly awesome years of exhilarating rock and roll. CANDLEMASS To Perform Entire \'Epicus Doomicus Metalicus\' Album At Stockholm Concert
 Legendary Swedish doomsters CANDLEMASS will celebrate their 25-year anniversary as a band with an extra-long performance at Debaser Medis in Stockholm on December 18. The band's classic 1986 album, "Epicus Doomicus Metalicus", will be performed in its entirety for the first time with CANDLEMASS' original singer Johan Längqvist.
Commented the group: "[Current CANDLEMASS frontman] Robert Lowe will, of course, also be on stage this evening singing both old and new material at this mega-cool event!!"
"Epicus Doomicus Metallicus" will be re-released on fat 180-gram blood-red vinyl in numbered gatefold sleeve on June 28 via Peaceville Records. The gatefold sleeve features the original artwork (red text and skull not white as on the CD) on a matt-laminated sleeve with logo and text on front in spot varnish. It will also include new sleeve notes written by the band.
According to a press release, "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus" is a true classic. Every track is undeniably strong — heavy metal riffs blended with almost neo-classical touches, plus some theatrical elements bringing to mind bands like MERCYFUL FATE (thought to be another influence). This is one of the definitive doom metal releases, immortalizing the band, alongside early developers of the style such as the U.S. band PENTAGRAM.
"Epicus" was recorded at Thunderload Studios in 1986 and was released later that same year. The vocals for this, the band's debut album, were handled by Johan Längqvist, before the iconic vocalist Messiah Marcolin became a solid fixture in the band until the early Nineties.
CANDLEMASS instantly became a great inspiration to countless metal bands upon the album's release in 1986; a time when thrash metal, not doom, was fast becoming the dominant style in both Europe and the U.S. Bands such as PARADISE LOST and MY DYING BRIDE rate the album very highly to this day — PARADISE LOST particularly ranking "Epicus" among their favorite albums ever.

TERROR: New Album Release Date Announced
 Los Angeles hardcore/metal band TERROR will release its fifth album, "Keepers Of The Faith", on August 30 in Europe and September 14 in North America via Century Media Records. Doom Patrol will issue the album in Japan on September 1. The CD contains 13 new tracks produced by Chad Gilbert of NEW FOUND GLORY at Buzzbomb Studios in Orange County, California. It was engineered by Paul Miner (DEATH BY STEREO, ADAMANTIUM) and mixed by Matt Hyde (SLAYER, HATEBREED).
Commented frontman Scott Vogel: "This is the record we put everything we have into — from the music to the lyrics, the layout to the title and to the direct hand to hand street marketing approach, we are putting it all on the line.
"We took all the rules of what's going on in the industry today and washed them from our minds.

BELPHEGOR Preparing To Enter Studio
 Austrian blackened death metal outfit BELPHEGOR will enter Abyss Studios in Pärbly, Sweden on June 19 with producer Peter Tägtgren (IMMORTAL, CELTIC FROST, HYPOCRISY, DIMMU BORGIR) to begin recording the band's as-yet-untitled new album for an early 2011 release via Nuclear Blast Records.
Commented BELPHEGOR bassist Serpenth: "[The new material is] BELPHEGOR to the bone — nine monumental, epic arrangements. The sound collages have a haunting, ritualistic atmosphere. Werk IX will be the longest playing BELPHEGOR album yet."
Added mainman Helmuth: "Sunday we returned from the awesome Metal Gate Open Air we shredded in Czech, and went direct back in the rehearsal bunker.
"Fukking wicked!!!
"The last rehearsals turned out fantastic. We practiced day and night to get every level to the highest peak."
On Friday, Serpenth and session drummer Marthyn will fly over to Sweden and hit Abyss Studios to start the drum recordings.
The five recording sessions and mixing/mastering process should be completed by beginning of October.
"Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn", the eighth full-length studio album from BELPHEGOR, entered the official chart in the band's home country at position No. 60 and in Germany at No. 99. The follow-up to 2008's "Bondage Goat Zombie" was recorded at Andy Classen's (LEGION OF THE DAMNED, DEW-SCENTED, NEAERA, ASPHYX) Stage One Studios in Kassel, Germany.

TOMMY LEE To Star In \'Californication\' Episode
 According to TVGuide.com, MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee will star in an episode of the Showtime hit TV show "Californication".
The 47-year-old drummer will play a singer who has an encounter with Hank (David Duchovny) while performing at a hotel bar.
Lee joins previously announced Season 4 guest stars Rob Lowe and Lenny Kravitz's daughter, Zoe Kravitz.
"Californication" returns to Showtime next fall.

Does OZZY OSBOURNE\'s DNA Hold The Key To Surviving Drug Abuse?
 The Pulse of Radio reports that a Massachusetts-based research company called Knome will use a blood sample taken from Ozzy Osbourne to map out his genetic code and attempt to figure out how he has survived after years of abusing drugs and alcohol. According to the U.K.'s Sky News, Ozzy is one of the few people in the world who will have his entire genome analyzed. Researchers at Knome hope that analyzing Ozzy's blood and DNA will give them insight into how drugs are absorbed in the body, and why some people can survive extreme substance abuse while others can't.
The company's director of research, Nathan Pearson, said, "Sequencing and analyzing individuals with extreme medical histories provides the greatest potential scientific value."
The testing will cost around $40,000 and is expected to take about three months to determine results.
Although he's sober now, Ozzy estimates that he took drugs and used alcohol for more than 40 years, according to Rolling Stone.
He also survived a 2003 bike accident in which he broke his neck and was diagnosed a few years back with a genetic disorder that is similar to Parkinson's Disease.
Ozzy recently started a new gig as a health columnist for England's Sunday Times. In the first installment of the column — which will be largely ghostwritten by his memoir co-writer, Chris Ayres — Ozzy admitted, "By all accounts, I'm a medical miracle. When I die, I should donate my body to the Natural History Museum."
