THE HAUNTED: Preview Clip From \'Road Kill\' DVD Posted Online
 Swedish metallers THE HAUNTED will release a live DVD/CD, "Road Kill", in North America on June 8 via Century Media. This crushing live release, which was issued in Europe on April 19, will be available as a DVD+CD as well as a stand-alone CD and digital download. RUNNING WILD Mainman Explains Delay In Live DVD/CD Release
 German power metallers RUNNING WILD played their farewell show at last year's edition of Wacken Open Air festival, which was held July 30 - August 1, 2009 in Wacken, Germany. The band's July 30 "best-of" performance was filmed and recorded for an upcoming DVD and CD.
RUNNING WILD's mainman, Rock'n'Rolf Kasparek, has issued the following update on the delay in the release of the above-mentioned DVD/CD:
"I want to sincerely thank all RUNNING WILD fans who attended the show in Wacken and made it an unforgettable moment for me and the band. As you have kept up with that weather, respect! Really. Awesome! But I want also welcome all other RUNNING WILD fans who were not in Wacken, for you will certainly already been waiting on the live DVD and have to wonder why it is not appearing.
"There are a few problems. The company that was responsible for the recordings, unfortunately, messed up the individual tracks. They are lost and the company tried to recover the data for three months. Unfortunately, now we only have a stereo track, and we had to consider alternative ways in which we want to edit the whole thing and what we can do with it.
"I just started to sift through the material, and we will probably — as it looks like by now — to be finished with this work in March. There are many bonus features: many interviews with myself, there are many other things from my private archives, that is, recordings of the old tours, backstage stuff, fun stuff and so on. So this DVD will be a work of art. That is why you have to wait a little longer for it to be released.
"The problem, as I said, was that we first have to see now what we do with all this material, what we can use and what we cannot. That was just the thing, and so I just wanted to briefly explain why it takes so long because everyone has probably already asked: 'What are they doing? Do they have too much time now?' It's just that we have much work with it, and this will take some time.
"But, of course, there's another reason why I am sending you this message today: I would like to wish you all a nice 2010, with much luck and many good things for you all.
"We will see each other! And I have to do something now... Take care. Bye!"

As a special bonus, RUNNING WILD will make available alternate artwork for the DVD, created by none other than Felipe Machado Franco, who has previously worked with BLIND GUARDIAN, GAMMA RAY and ICED EARTH. PRIMAL FEAR: New DVD Preview Clip Available
 German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR recently completed work on a brand new live DVD, "16.6 - All Over The World", recorded in various locations between September and November 2009, and a live CD, aptly titled "Live In The USA". Frontiers Records will release the two products separately and as a limited-edition combo on June 2 in Europe and June 22 in the USA.

Former AC/DC Drummer CHRIS SLADE To Appear On AC/DC Tribute Album
 Versailles Records' forthcoming "Rock & Roll Train: A Millennium Tribute to AC/DC" will feature former AC/DC drummer Chris Slade alongside LIZZY BORDEN guitarist Ira Black on the Bon Scott-era classic "Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock & Roll)". Black co-produced the track, along with album producers Richard Kendrick and Jake Brown, who commented of Slade's inclusion that "it's one of the true highlights for Rik and I, in over 10 years of producing these albums, to be working with a member of the greatest hard rock band of all time on this record — coupled with the fact this will be our first tribute LP ever issued on vinyl."
In addition to Slade, "Rock & Roll Train: A Millennium Tribute to AC/DC" will feature current/former members of such acts as GUNS N' ROSES, MEGADETH, LIZZY BORDEN, BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION, RAINBOW, HANOI ROCKS, DANGEROUS TOYS, WARRANT and L.A. GUNS, as well as a number of original artists, including THE SKYSCREAMERS (which features vocalist Rose Reiter), KATET, LOADED DICE, ATTICA and MARTIAN HONEY. The album will be issued with a bonus sampler featuring up-and-coming millennium rock and metal bands influenced by AC/DC. A fall release is expected.

METHODS OF MAYHEM\'s New Album Pushed Back To September
 Tommy Lee has rocked every continent multiple times, sold millions of records with MÖTLEY CRÜE and on his own, done everything a musician dreams of doing, except he's never made a record with the entire world. The new METHODS OF MAYHEM album, now entitled "A Public Disservice Announcement", is set for release on September 21 and features Tommy Lee collaborating with the world. Lee commented, "When I founded METHODS in 1999, the whole purpose of the band was to be all over the place. In keeping with that, this METHODS isn't anything like the last one. There's no hip hop and there's no roster of guest stars. This time, it's me, my band, and the world."
Tommy Lee and his team, including producer Scott Humphrey, singer-guitarist J3 and others, wrote and recorded the songs for the new album, then made the core components of each available for download on www.thepublicrecord.com to anyone who wished to add their playing or otherwise re-interpret the music however they saw fit. Lee listened to every single submission that was uploaded, chose the best, and integrated the actual audio tracks into the album's final cuts. Every single musician whose part was used is credited and thanked on the album.
The song files were made available on The Public Record web site on October 5, 2009. By the end of the submission period in February, 2010, the page was viewed over 1 million times and over 10,000 submissions were uploaded. What came back once the public got its hands on the raw ingredients was truly all over the map — just as Tommy Lee had hoped. The diverse submissions included techno tracks sent in from Japan, hand drum rhythms from India and searing guitar solos from as close to home as San Diego.
METHODS OF MAYHEM self-titled debut was released in 1999 and was certified gold by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales in excess of 500,000 copies in the United States alone. The album featured Snoop Dogg, Kid Rock and Fred Durst, among others. METHODS OF MAYHEM's set was a featured highlight of 2000's Ozzfest.

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE Pays Tribute To RONNIE JAMES DIO At ROCK ON THE RANGE
 Massachusetts metallers KILLSWITCH ENGAGE paid tribute to legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW) by performing their version of the classic DIO song "Holy Diver" on May 22, 2010 at the Rock On The Range festival in Columbus, Ohio.
Prior to launching into the track, guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz said from the stage, "On a serious note, real quick — you all know we lost somebody fucking so important to the metal community. And we are so fucking proud to be able to play one of his songs. So do me a favor — make a fuckload of noise for Ronnie James Dio."

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE originally recorded a cover of DIO's "Holy Diver" for a 2006 Kerrang! magazine-commissioned compilation, "High Voltage", which was made up of classic rock and metal songs covered by contemporary bands, with 10 of the tracks recorded exclusively for the CD.

RONNIE JAMES DIO\'s Wife/Manager: \'We Need To Turn The Other Cheek\' On WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH
 Wendy Dio, wife/manager of late heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW), has released the following statement in response to reports that the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) — an independent Baptist church and hate group known for its hatred of homosexuals and its protest activities (which include picketing funerals) — intends to picket Ronnie's upcoming public memorial service:
"Ronnie hates prejudice and violence! We need to turn the other cheek on these people that only know how to hate someone they didn't know. We only know how to love someone we know!"
The church, which was the subject of a 2007 BBC documentary entitled "The Most Hated Family In America", is made up mostly of pastor Fred Phelps and his family. The pastor has 13 children, and at least 54 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He described himself as an "old-time" gospel preacher in a CNN interview in 2006, saying, "You can't preach the Bible without preaching the hatred of God."
Ronnie James Dio's public memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 30 at 2:00 p.m. at The Hall Of Liberty located at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, California.
According to the official web site of the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) — an independent Baptist church and hate group known for its hatred of homosexuals and its protest activities (which include picketing funerals) — WBC is planning on picketing Ronnie James Dio's public memorial service on Sunday, May 30 at 2:00 p.m. at The Hall Of Liberty located at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, California. What will presumably one of WBC's standard "peaceful sidewalk demonstrations" is meant to "remind you who worship that old Serpent, Satan, that your time is very short," according to a post on the "Upcoming Picket Schedule" page of the web site. The post continues, "You know 67 year old, Satan-worshiping (or at least one of their enablers) Ronnie James Dio (of showing his devil horns to the world each time he goes in public) BLACK SABBATH fame is dead, right? We'll be there! Just because the chances of any of God's elect being amongst this group of heavy metal sycophants is slim to none does not mean they should not get some good words."
The post goes on to say, "Yes, it is true that Ozzy Osbourne did 'accidentally' bite off the head of a bat, but THAT is the least of their sins (little nasties!), they currently do not do that, but they throw raw meat to the audience and encourage violence of EVERY FORM!"
The WBC web site then proceeds to list "admitted sins of this now dead and in hell pervert: 1) He hates his neighbor(s) starting with Ozzy Osbourne, and continuing down to his pornography star niece Gen Padova! 2) He hates God. Pay especial attention to the fact that he changed his original sir name from Padova to Dio, which means God in Italian. 3) Ronnie the simpleton enabled, and encouraged Sorceries: everything he was about including the little finger horn thing (he got this from his mother which is an incantation to ward off the 'evil eye') to the drugs, bloody raw meat and his fellowship with those pentagon necklace wearing freakish band members."
The post concludes: "Yes, Ronnie James Padova (NOT DIO) is currently residing in hell. When all those who worship him and his false gods meet him in hell it will be just like this: Isaiah 2:12 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: Isaiah 14:11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.  Veteran German thrashers SODOM will release their long-awaited new DVD, "Lords Of Depravity - Part II", on June 28 in Europe and July 13 in the U.S. via SPV/Steamhammer.
The double digipak DVD with o-card will contain the following:
* DVD 1: the complete history 1995-2009 (approximately 230 minutes)
* DVD 2: Live features, video clips, deleted scenes (approximately 180 minutes)
Commented bassist/vocalist Thomas "Angelripper" Such: "Five years after releasing our first SODOM DVD, you're now holding the second part in your hands...
"To begin with, I want to thank you for your patience.
"In the meantime it happened a lot, which we want to give you an account of with this film.
"The story of 'Lords Of Depravity - Part I' ended in the year 1995, which included many ups and downs for me. It was a year I had to make a lot of decisions in, which were of essential importance for my career and further musical future.
"The last contractual album with SPV, 'Masquerade In Blood', blazed the trail for rebound.
"When drummer Atomic Steif and guitarist Strahli left the band after the accomplishment of this album, I thought about forming a completely new band or turn[ing] my back on the music business forever. I lacked the willingness to discuss each of my decisions with the band members. I had to look ahead. The numerous replacements of band members in the past unnerved me and tested my mettle.
"The idea to start a solo project emerged through many intense conversations with friends and my musical surroundings. Producer Ulli Pösselt also encouraged me to this enterprise. A record label, which evinced the willingness in supporting the project, was found straight. The Tom Angelripper — future ONKEL TOM — project came into being and released four albums through the label GUN Records.
"I realized quickly, that living without SODOM was inacceptable for me. The record label wasn't enthusiastic about perpetuating SODOM, the more so as the albums of the solo project worked out well in view of the circumstances at that time, even within the non-metal scene. I was advised to put SODOM on hold or to draw the curtain for good.
"To achieve a common purpose I convinced the head of the record label to recall SODOM to life with a completely new lineup. I became acquainted with drummer Bobby by fluke, later with guitarist Bernemann, who both roistered together in the bands CROWS and RANDALICA. The phase of us getting to know each other certainly is described at length in this film.
"After a couple of rehearsals we decided to go on together and record a new album. This seemed like a new birth to me, and we got down to work, 'cause finally there were a lot of live shows to be played again.
"Initially, all this was virgin soil to Bobby and Bernemann. Our first tour, which we were doing together with many top-class bands turned out to be a long-desired dream coming true for both of them.
"I finally made the attempt to establish a permanent lineup, which succeeded despite the hard time.
"The second half of the '90s has really been tough and confusing to the whole metal scene and music business. I don't want to speculate about the reasons here, but it was a time, when many bands resigned and split up. Many of them had to realign musically, which was a complete flop in many of these cases. The extant fans didn't want any change and turned away.
"To me it was a certain decision to go on like before and keep the comparatively steady fan community. It was worth it, since we outlived the lean period together with the help from our fans.
"We've always been a band, who crosses the scene with blinders. We never cared about what others were doing and we never let the record labels force us to change something to sell more records or become more commercial. Thrash metal was our way of doing something we were keen on and expressing openly what came into our heads without mincing our words. This is one thing which never changed to this day.
"A band has to be authentic and should not sell itself.
"In the following years, we travelled all around the world and soon there was hardly any country whose beer specialities we didn't give a try.
"I love thinking back of all these concerts... Whether it be in South America, Asia, Australia or Europe — everywhere we've been well received and celebrated properly.
"This film is going to let you look behind the scenes. At many shows a cameraman was [following] us, who tried to also catch the atmosphere backstage and during the tour.
"It's almost unbelievable how much material has been filmed, assembled and probably for the first time been released in this manner.
"I'm very glad that SODOM is still getting booked for being the cult band as such and is still regarded as the band most friendly towards their fans. Nowadays this doesn't seem to be understood by many others.
"Working on satisfying the fans is as much important as the music itself.
"We've always tried to get in contact with our fans after the show, signing autographs, having a beer together while chatting. We've never been that kind of 'rock stars' who leave their fans instantly after the show when being reputed to have done their work.
"My co-musicians always bolstered me and quickly understood what SODOM is all about. It's not about us — the focus is always on the fans. If they're happy, we're happy, too.
"Then, the early SODOM history caught up with us again. The record label wanted to re-release the debut 'In The Sign Of Evil' and asked me if there were any unreleased songs. At the third of our class reunions, I sat together with Chris Witchhunter and Grave Violator to talk about this. Grave Violator could remember that we've had material for one full-fledged album, but the record label wanted to produce a five-track EP only. This has been quite usual in the '80s. He still owned a recording of seven songs, which had been done in our old rehearsal room and which we had totally forgotten about. According to this, these songs had to be practiced anew in our old lineup. These partly very tragic years up to the release of 'Final Sign Of Evil' are reprocessed in this film by many interviews.
"Back then neither of us suspected Chris' disease to be progressed so far to be a lethal threat to him.
"Being on tour in South America with SODOM in 2009 I got a phone call which exceeded our worst apprehensions. This is a topic dealt with marginally in this film, because we closed it with our 25th anniversary.
"Now have fun watching 'Lords Of Depravity - Part II'!
"I hope you will encourage me in my idea of doing a third part.
"I thank you for your allegiant support, which hopefully will conduct us to our 30th anniversary."

More Details Emerge In Death Of SLIPKNOT\'s PAUL GRAY
 New details have emerged surrounding the passing of SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Dedrick Gray, who was found dead this morning in an Iowa hotel.
According to DesMoinesRegister.com, Gray, 38, was found dead at about 10:50 a.m. today by an employee at Towne Place Suites, 8800 Northpark Drive in Urbandale.
Gray checked into the extended-stay hotel on Saturday and was scheduled to check out today, hotel spokesman Chris Diebel said.
This morning, Gray's relatives called the hotel to ask the staff to check on him because they could not reach him by phone, Urbandale police Sgt. Dave Disney said. Gray was found alone, apparently dead, and employees called 911.
Diebel said the hotel staff had not seen or heard anything out of the ordinary before finding Gray's body.
The musician had stayed at the hotel before and was remembered as being a quiet and respectful guest, Diebel said.
There was no evidence of foul play in Gray's death, but the investigation is ongoing, police said. An autopsy, including toxicology tests, is scheduled to be done Tuesday, Disney said.
Disney would not disclose today whether anything of interest was found in Gray's room or why Gray was staying at the hotel.

"I was very shocked and saddened to hear of Paul Gray's passing [on Monday, May 25]. I considered him an incredible songwriter, inventive bassist, but more importantly a kind and warm friend.
"As a fellow musician, I was excited that he would be playing in HAIL! this coming month as I knew it would be a fun experience for him. I'm sad that the European audiences will not get to see him play those shows.
"I extend my condolences to his family, to SLIPKNOT and their management, as well as his many friends and fans who loved him around the world. He was another one of the 'good ones' in our business... a wonderful man who will be missed by us all."

HAIL! Manager Says He Spoke With PAUL GRAY Over The Weekend
 In April 2010 it was announced that SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray had joined HAIL!, the supergroup featuring mainstays Tim "Ripper" Owens (BEYOND FEAR, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH), David Ellefson (MEGADETH) and Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA). He was supposed to replace the group's original member, David Ellefson, who was unable to take part in HAIL!'s upcoming touring activities due to his renewed collaboration with MEGADETH.
As previously reported, Gray was found dead in an Iowa hotel room early Monday morning (May 24). He was 38.
Commented HAIL! manager Mark Abbattista: "I spoke to Paul over the weekend, and we had a great conversation. He was so upbeat and excited as we discussed all our final gear and travel details, went through our new setlist and joked about the most fun way to 'unmask' him onstage.
"We were so looking forward to playing with Paul on our upcoming tour and this is a complete tragedy.
"We are all in a state of shock and our heartfelt condolences go out to [Paul's wife] Brenna, his family, SLIPKNOT, their management and all his friends. This is a horrible loss and a very sad day."
HAIL! is scheduled to kick off a three-week tour of Europe and Asia this Saturday, May 30 at the prestigious Rock In Rio festival in Lisbon, Portugal.
An official statement concerning the status of the dates is expected to be released tomorrow.
Back in April, Gray stated about his involvement with HAIL!: "This is going to be amazing! After I heard the news about David reuniting with MEGADETH I touched base with Andreas and everything fell into place pretty immediately. I was excited about what they were doing and their whole attitude is just cool, old school camaraderie and fun and I wanted to share that with them. Fortunately, I had this window of time available as SLIPKNOT are on break so the timing worked perfectly. These guys have been through it all and they represent true metal brotherhood. I like that and I'm glad to now be a part of it. I can't wait, I wish we'd leave tomorrow. These shows are going to kick ass!"

MASTODON Cancels Summer Tour
 Atlanta progressive metallers MASTODON have cancelled their previously announced summer tour, which scheduled to launch in Germany on June 5 and be completed in Finland on July 3. The band's guitarist, Bill Kelleher, was diagnosed with pancreatitis (a sudden inflammation of the pancreas which can have severe complications and high mortality despite treatment) and was advised by doctors to pursue further medication. MASTODON's latest album, "Crack The Skye", sold 41,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 11 on The Billboard 200 chart. Producer COLIN RICHARDSON Is \'In Total Shock\' Over SLIPKNOT Bassist\'s Death
 Acclaimed British producer Colin Richardson (SLIPKNOT, FEAR FACTORY, MACHINE HEAD, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, NAPALM DEATH) and his representatives at Real Productions have issued the following statement regarding the passing of SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray:

We, as so many, are in total shock over this terrible tragedy. BRET MICHAELS Wins \'Celebrity Apprentice\'
 POISON singer Bret Michaels made it to Sunday's live finale and won the title of "Celebrity Apprentice", beating out actress Holly Robinson Peete.
"Bret Michaels, his creativity and imagination are just amazing," said Donald Trump, who chose Michaels as the winner to receive $250,000 for his charity, the American Diabetes Association. "He's been through a lot."
Michaels, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was six years old, flew from Los Angeles to New York on Sunday to attend the NBC show.
"[Doctors] didn't want you to be here tonight, are you risking your life being here?" Trump asked Michaels, according to Newsday.com.
"Lately, it seems like me standing up is risking my life," Michaels joked.
Even Robinson Peete conceded that Michaels was a strong competitor.
"My 5-year-old son said, 'Mom, I love you, but I'm kinda pulling for Bret,' " she said. "How can you beat that?"

SEPULTURA Comments On Passing Of SLIPKNOT Bassist
 Brazilian/American thrashers SEPULTURA have released the following statement regarding the passing of SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray:
"RIP Paul Gray, we're shocked and very sad, this is another tragic loss for our metal community."
Urbandale police said a man was found dead in a hotel room in Urbandale on Monday morning.
Police said there was no evidence of foul play observed, but a complete investigation will be completed by Urbandale police detectives.

KORZUS: \'Truth\' Video Released
 "Truth", the brand new video from Brazilian thrash metal veterans KORZUS, can be viewed below. The song comes off the band's new album, "Discipline Of Hate", which is being released in Brazil on May 24 and the rest of the world on June 11 via AFM Records. The international version of the CD will contain a bonus track, "We Are Just The Same", featuring a guest appearance by Zoltán Farkas, lead singer of the Hungarian metal band EKTOMORF. For the Brazilian market, the album will come with a bonus track sung in Portuguese, entitled "Hipocrisia". The music video for "Truth" will be included on both versions of the CD.
KORZUS' current lineup consists of Marcello Pompeu (vocals), Dick Siebert (bass), Heros Trench (guitar), Antonio Araújo (guitar) and Rodrigo Oliveira (drums).
Formed in 1983, KORZUS is one of the oldest and most important bands of the Brazilian thrash metal scene, along with groups like DORSAL ATLÂNTICA, SARCÓFAGO, SEPULTURA, GENOCIDIO and VULCANO. The band made its first vinyl appearance as part of the seminal metal compilation called "SP Metal" on the Baratos Afins label back in 1985. KORZUS went through numerous lineup changes over the years, with the group's three-member nucleus — Marcelo Pompeu (on vocals), Silvio Golfetti (on guitars) and Dick (on bass guitar) — remaining intact for much of this period.
KORZUS' classic lineup (1988-1992) consisted of Marcelo Pompeu (vocals), Silvio Golfetti (guitar), Marcelo Nicastro (guitar), Dick (bass) and Beto Silesci (drums, replacing Zema who committed suicide in 1988).

Former W.A.S.P. Members Rejoin Forces In W.A.S.
 Chris Holmes (guitar; ex-W.A.S.P.), Randy Piper (guitar; ANIMAL, ex-W.A.S.P.), Steve Unger (bass; ex-METAL CHURCH), Rich Lewis (vocals; ANIMAL) and Stet Howland (drums; ex-W.A.S.P.) have joined forces in a brand new band called WHERE ANGELS SUFFER (W.A.S.). The group's debut album, "Purgatory", has already been completed and is described by Howland as "heavy and ready to destroy." He adds, "We will play all the hits, as well as ALL the dangerous music the current [lineup of] W.A.S.P. is skipping. 'Fuck Like A Beast'? 'Mean Man'? Huhh? HUH?"
WHERE ANGELS SUFFER will make its live debut in Ft. Myers, Florida in early July. More details will be made available soon.

SLIPKNOT Bassist Found Dead
 According to the Des Moines Register, Urbandale, Iowa police are investigating the death of SLIPKNOT's bass guitarist at a local hotel.
Paul Dedrick Gray, 38, of Johnston was found dead at approximately 10:50 a.m. today by an employee at TownePlace Suites (pictured below), 8800 Northpark Drive, police said.
There was no evidence of foul play, police said.
According to KCCI.com, the Polk County Medical Examiner's Office is assisting in the death investigation and will perform an autopsy on Tuesday. Toxicology testing will be completed to determine if there were any contributing factors in the death of Gray, police said.
Witnesses reported that items from the hotel room were carried out of the hotel around 2 p.m.
Gray was born in Los Angeles, California, and later moved to Des Moines.
Wikipedia shows that Gray has been married for two years to GodsGirls' Brenna Paul and has a tattoo of her name on his knuckles.

OZZY OSBOURNE/FIREWIND Guitarist To Guest On New KAMELOT Album
 Greek guitarist Gus G. (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIREWIND, DREAM EVIL, ARCH ENEMY) has added his signature style and soloing to one of KAMELOT's new songs that will appear on the band's upcoming CD.
Commetned KAMELOT guitarist Thomas Youngblood: "Gus and I have been talking about working together for a few years now.
"I first met Gus when DREAM EVIL played with us on the Japanese tour a few years back. Since then Gus' band FIREWIND has toured with us in Europe and Japan and we have become great friends.
"I have always thought Gus' style was very special and very unique, [and] it's really great to have him on the new album!"
Added Gus G.: "KAMELOT is a very unique band with a sound of their own and I've always liked them. To be invited to play on their new album is an honor and jamming on their track was a lot of fun.
"During the time our bands toured Japan and all over Europe together, Thomas and I became good friends. I have great memories from being on the road with the guys and I'm glad I contributed to their new album."
Singer Simone Simons of Dutch symphonic metallers EPICA recently recorded her vocal parts that will be featured on KAMELOT's forthcoming CD. Simone joins KAMELOT vocalist Roy Khan on the band's newest ballad, "House On A Hill", as well the title track of KAMELOT's new album. Other songs set to appear on the CD include "The Great Pandemonium" and "Hunters Season", both of which were performed on the band's recently completed European headlining tour.
Simone — the longtime girlfriend of KAMELOT keyboardist Oliver Palotai — previously appeared on the song "The Haunting", which was included on KAMELOT's 2005 album "The Black Halo".
KAMELOT spent time at various studios — including the Gate Studio in Wolfsburg, Germany — under the watchful eye of Sascha Paeth and Miro as producers working on the highly anticipated follow-up to "Ghost Opera".
"The new songs are really inspiring," stated guitarist Thomas Youngblood. "We feel the long touring and time away from writing has been perfect for new ideas and an aggressive approach to the new songs."
KAMELOT will embark on its first North American tour in two years this fall. Support on the trek will come from LEAVES' EYES and BLACKGUARD.

ABSU\'s \'Barathrum: V.I.T.R.I.O.L\' To Be Re-Released On Triple Vinyl With Bonus Material
 ABSU's "Barathrum: V.I.T.R.I.O.L" will be re-released on triple vinyl via The Crypt during the latter part of summer.
"Barathrum: V.I.T.R.I.O.L" was ABSU's first full-length album in 1993 for Gothic Records, which later secured the band a deal with its longtime label home Osmose Productions (before signing with Candlelight Records). This LP was the naissance of their blended style called "mythological occult metal."
The album's title is a Latin-based analogical acronym meaning Barathrum: Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem, which is translated as "The Abyss: We shall visit the interior parts of earth, by rectification; thou shall find the hidden stone."
The vinyl edition is limited to only 500 numbered copies (300: marbled black/red & 200: black) and comes on triple 180-gram vinyl. It will be packaged in a deluxe heavyweight gatefold sleeve featuring additional artwork by Polish artist Zbigniew Bielak (WATAIN, DESTROYER 666). The vinyl edition also features a 16-page booklet with never-before-seen photos and exclusive liner notes penned by drummer/vocalist Proscriptor, a timeline and a two-sided 24" x 36" poster.

THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL Signs With CANDLELIGHT RECORDS
 Candlelight Records has announced the signing of the English progressive black metal band THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL. The group's fourth album, "The Murder Of Jesus The Jew", will feature guest appearances by Hoest (TAAKE) and Vincent Crowley (ACHERON). Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "From Eagle To Cross", "God Of Sand", "Apostle Of The Uncircumcised", "Jew Killer" and "The Man From Keiroth". The intro and one instrumental were created by Mirai (SIGH), with guitar and keyboard parts handled by Alisa Coral (SPACE MIRRORS) and Elle Torry (live guitarist for IMPERIAL VENGEANCE).
The core elements of THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL — Metatron (vocals), J.D Tait (guitar), Alan Davey (bass) and Urakbarameel (drums) — have created a concept album that centers around the humanity of the Galilean healer who became a God of western aspirations and whose own roots became washed away with the cleansing of the Roman Church.

WAR OF AGES: \'Collapse\' Video Released
 "Collapse", the new video from the Erie, Pennsylvania-based Christian metal/hardcore act WAR OF AGES, can be viewed below (courtesy of AOL's Noisecreep). The song comes off the band's fourth studio album, "Eternal", which was released on April 13 via Facedown Records.
"Eternal" continues the warrior theme for which the band has become very well known. The writing process for the new record was "perfectly timed and provided release on a personal level," says vocalist Leroy Hamp. With lyrics as heart wrenching as ever, "Eternal" solidifies the band's consistent message of victory over pain.
Hamp and his brother, drummer Alex, certainly know about rising from pain. In their life experience, they have dealt with kidnapping, abuse both physical and mental, and the violence that surrounded their family and their backward beliefs. Through their faith in Jesus Christ as redeemer and savior, the brothers soldiered on and have forged a life of their own choosing.
WAR OF AGES' convictions are as deeply rooted in strength through spirit as their music is based in intensely heavy but melodic and catchy metal and hardcore. The band's spirit of ministry is solidly in place on "Eternal", with songs ranging from pure fun '80s-inspired metal to the more therapeutic "Your Betrayal" about Hamp's father.
WAR OF AGES can easily be pegged as a highly motivated and driven band. Nothing provides more irrefutable proof of their dogged determination than their impressive and extensive touring history which includes playing alongside TERROR, AS I LAY DYING, LIVING SACRIFICE, DEMON HUNTER, UNDEROATH, HATEBREED, SICK OF IT ALL, THROWDOWN, EARTH CRISIS, and many others. The band has also had music videos from previous albums featured on MTV's "Headbangers Ball", a feat which has spurred them on to continue making intriguing, visually exciting clips.
The band chose to stick with Lambesis Studios and Daniel Castleman for the recording of "Eternal", but opted to produce the album themselves this time around. Hamp is confident that the song structure and musical flow of "Eternal" far exceeds that of WAR OF AGES' previous releases. "Our songs are both dark and light, we dance on both sides and write to release what we have built up inside. This is therapy for us," he says.

CHARON: Second Teaser Video For \'A-Sides, B-Sides & Suicides\' Posted Online
 Finnish gothic metallers CHARON will release their first-ever compilation album, "A-Sides, B-Sides & Suicides", on June 23. The two-disc set will include almost 40 songs and two and a half hours of music spanning the band's entire career — from its first demo tape to the most recent recordings. In addition to the album cuts, there will be outtakes, cover songs and demos.
CHARON will upload a teaser video every week leading up to the compilation's release feature unforgettable moments from the band's 17-year career. The second clip can be viewed below.

EUROPE\'s JOHN NORUM Says He Nearly Recorded With DIO
 EUROPE guitarist John Norum has told U.K.'s Classic Rockmagazine of plans he had to record with the late Ronnie James Dio.
"I met Ronnie only recently, and he told me of a song he'd written that he was keen to have me play guitar on," he said. "We never got beyond talking about the idea, but it was a serious plan."
Norum — whose new solo album, "Play Yard Blues", will be released on July 17 through Mascot Records — was shocked to hear of Dio's passing on May 16 after a six-month battle with stomach cancer.
"Ronnie was one of those great characters whom you thought would go on until he was 100," Norum told Classic Rock. "It seems very strange to think that we will no longer see him onstage, or hear any new songs. His death has left a huge gap that nobody else can hope to fill."

AL ATKINS\' HOLY RAGE Completes Work On Debut Album
 HOLY RAGE, the U.K. metal band featuring original JUDAS PRIEST vocalist Al Atkins, has completed work on its debut album, "Just Don't Run". A late 2010 release via an as-yet-undetermined record label is expected.

HOLY RAGE recently announced the addition of guitarist Vince O'Regan (ex-BOB CATLEY, EDEN) and bassist/vocalist Steve Mercy (ex-ABIGAIL'S MERCY) to the group's ranks.
Commented guitarist Chris Johnson: "At the begining of the year, Al began writing some new songs with the help and ideas of two other writers for the HOLY RAGE debut album and shocked us all by announcing that he wanted both of them to play a part in the band, too.
"After listening to the new songs that they had written (which, by the way, are awesome), and rehearsing together for the first time, it really did sound like a killer idea and only not are we sounding even heavier, but also it seems like we have played together forever.
"We would also want to wish Scott Dallow all the best for the future and wish to thank him for all his input and contribution while playing for us and by telling everyone that there is no ill feeling with him leaving the band and we will all be having a beer or two again with him very soon."

As previously reported, HOLY RAGE is putting together a video for the song "A Void to Avoid", featuring a special guest appearance by Bernie Tormé, former guitarist for GILLAN, OZZY OSBOURNE, ATOMIC ROOSTER, and DESPERADO, and current guitarist/vocalist for rock and roll power trio GUY-MCCOY-TORME (GMT).
"A Void to Avoid", along with "Give Them Hell", are bonus tracks on the global release of Al's 2007 solo album "Demon Deceiver" (re-titled "Demon Deceiver... Plus"), which is available worldwide right now, but will also be featured on the new HOLY RAGE album.
Atkins is the co-writer of several PRIEST songs which are included on the band's first two albums "Rocka Rolla" and "Sad Wings of Destiny", both of which eventually went gold. Atkins co-penned the heavy metal classic "Victim of Changes", which was a combination of Rob Halford's song "Red Light Lady" and Atkins' own "Whiskey Woman". He also co-wrote "Winter", "Never Satisfied", "Dreamer Deceiver" and "Caviar and Meths".
In 1989 Atkins released his debut solo album, "Judgement Day", to great acclaim. But it was "Heavy Thoughts" and "Victim of Changes" (the latter being his collaborative album with ex-JUDAS PRIEST drummer Dave Holland) that brought him strong sales and critical acclaim around the world. Recently Atkins formed HOLY RAGE and has shared the bill with ex-RAINBOW/MSG singer Graham Bonnet in California.
JUDAS PRIEST bassist Ian Hill penned the foreword to Al Atkins's autobiography, titled "Dawn of the Metal Gods: My Life in Judas Priest and Heavy Metal". The book, which was written with Neil Daniels — a freelance rock writer and heavy metal fan who befriended Atkins during the writing of Neil's book "The Story of Judas Priest: Defenders of the Faith" (Omnibus Press) — was released last spring via Iron Pages.
