DARKANE Begins Work On New Material
 Guitarist Christofer Malmström of Swedish thrashers DARKANE has issued the following update:
"DARKANE has had some time off during the summer while Peter Wildoer [drums] has been busy touring with PESTILENCE. We played the Roskilde festival in Denmark and the Brutal Assault festival in the Czech Republic this summer, and they both felt very successful.
"Next up is the Underground thrash festival in Oslo, Norway on October 10th. We are also working on a very cool tour pretty far away from where we live, but it will be official when its 100% confirmed.
"During the summer Peter, Klas [Ideberg, guitar] and I have come with ideas and riffs for the next album, and Jens [Broman, vocals] has written some lyrics. We have now started to gather together and put our ideas into actual songs. We are very eager to start recording the next album, and I think we have come up with some very cool stuff so far."  | 0 |  |

SAVAGE CIRCUS: New Album Details Revealed
 SAVAGE CIRCUS, the multinational project featuring Jens Karlsson (vocals; PERSUADER), Emil Norberg (lead guitar; PERSUADER), Piet Sielck (guitar, bass, backing vocals; IRON SAVIOR) and Mike Terrana (drums; AXEL RUDI PELL, RAGE, YNGWIE J. MALMSTEEN, MASTERPLAN), will release its long-awaited second album, "Of Doom And Death", on October 23 via Dockyard 1 Records. According to a press release, the follow-up to 2005's "Dreamland Manor" "shows all trademarks of [its predecessor]. Progressive and powerful songwriting combined with elaborate arrangements, tons of melodies and harmonies, raging guitars rounded up with the trademark vocals towering on the music. From speed monsters such as the title track, 'Of Doom And Death', to the majestic 'Ballad Of Susan', SAVAGE CIRCUS created an album with all the varieties one would expect and beyond.

SOULFLY To Enter Studio In November
 Fangoria.com recently conducted an interview with Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, SEPULTURA). A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
Fangoria.com: There was talk that SOULFLY was getting ready to do a new record, how's that coming along?
Cavalera: Little by little. Right now we're just getting some of the ideas together with some of the songs I composed while on tour over the past two years. We've got bits and pieces, lot's of riffs and things, but we'll begin seriously working on it at the beginning of November when we get off the road. We'll get right into the studio and start recording.
Fangoria.com: Will you be testing out some of the new ideas on the tour?
Cavalera: We might. It all depends on how much time we get for sound check during the first couple of shows. If we get enough time we can probably bash one out.
Fangoria.com: You're jumping right into this tour after coming out of a string of CAVALERA CONSPIRACY shows, and everyone is wondering if we'll see a second album come out of that project.
Cavalera: I don't have any plans right now, but maybe later on. I did some shows with that and they were awesome. We did some shows in Europe and Japan with really great crowd reaction. They were really into the album and they know it a lot more now. The way the CAVALERA operates is that we do some shows here and there — not often but for special occasions. We like to keep it like that, and it's cool to get together with Igor for awhile and then get right back to SOULFLY.
Fangoria.com: On the upcoming SOULFLY tour, you're bringing out some bands like PRONG for example. Did you have a hand in choosing who you'd be bringing out this time?
Cavalera: We had those bands come up in a list of bands we wanted to tour with, and I've always loved PRONG from back in the 90's and CATTLE DECAPITATION is one of the newer bands I've really been liking so they both accepted and I think we're going to have a lot of fun! I'm really looking forward to playing with them.
Fangoria.com: Back to music, you said that you'd be jumping back into the studio right after the tour. How long does it normally take you to track a new record, and when can we expect to hear some new SOULFLY?
Cavalera: Recording will be November and December, so it should be the beginning of next year. That's about how long it'll take to get the mixing, mastering, and artwork done. We're recording in California this time, and it will be mixed in England. Once all the parts are in place we'll set a release date. It's still a little bit of time.
Fangoria.com: Is the same lineup from the last album in place with Bobby, Marc, and Joe?
Cavalera: It's the same lineup. I actually didn't plan on it, but I've become really comfortable with those guys. Marc [Rizzo, guitar] gets better on each album, and there's a really good friendship within the band. It wasn't planned, but we're all friends now so it's the same lineup since 2005.

Former MAJESTY Guitarist Joins GLOOMBALL
 Former MAJESTY guitarist Björn Daigger (also known for his work with CIVILIZATION ONE and R:I:P) has joined the German rock/metal band GLOOMBALL. The group, which recently signed a deal with Sony Publishing, is currently working on new material.
GLOOMBALL's most recent last lineup included former MYSTIC CIRCLE bassist/vocalist Graf von Beelzebub.

MAJESTY split up in 2008. The group's third and final album, entitled "Hellforces", was released in February 2006 via Massacre Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Reign in Glory" was produced by Stefan Kaufmann (former ACCEPT drummer, current U.D.O. guitarist). | 0 | |

FORBIDDEN: \'We Are Extremely Excited About STEVE SMYTH Joining Us For Our Newest Chapter\'
 Reactivated San Francisco Bay Area thrashers FORBIDDEN have now officially confirmed that they have parted ways with guitarist Glen Alvelais and have replaced him with Steve Smyth (TESTAMENT, NEVERMORE).
Commented the group in a statement: "Throughout the years, FORBIDDEN has had many great players contributing to the music. In 2008 we came together for the first time in 12 years for a short reunion tour that included Russ Anderson on vocals, Craig Locicero and Glen Alvalais on guitar, Matt Camacho on bass, Mark Hernandez and the great Gene Hoglan on drums. Even [original FORBIDDEN drummer] Paul Bostaph [formerly of SLAYER and EXODUS; now in TESTAMENT] sat in for three shows. Of course, we will never forget all of the amazing work that [former FORBIDDEN members] Tim Calvert [guitar] and Steve Jacobs [drums] brought to the table even though they could not be a part of this reunion. Everyone was equally invaluable through out the history of FORBIDDEN, though the core of the band on every record has always been Russ, Matt and Craig.
"After the shows were completed in 2008, four of us were motivated and inspired enough to start working together closely and create music once again. A conscious decision was made to continue moving forward and write a new FORBIDDEN album, our first in 13 years! After many conversations and soul-searching we decided on the following lineup to accomplish this...
"We would like to proudly announce that the lineup for this album and all of our upcoming shows are Russ Anderson, Craig Locicero, Steve Smyth, Matt Camacho, and Mark Hernandez. That being said, the reunion is now over and the future of FORBIDDEN has begun. Mark and Steve are officially members of FORBIDDEN!
"We are extremely excited about Steve Smyth joining us for our newest chapter! Steve has been jamming and writing with us already and is a perfect complement to the new material. Having been a longtime fan of the band, it's great to have been presented the opportunity to perform with them, like at the Thrash of the Titans show in 2001. FORBIDDEN's new drummer, Mark Hernandez, has previously played with HEATHEN, DEFIANCE, RE:IGNITION, VIO-LENCE, TORQUE, TECHNOCRACY and SOCIAL UNREST.
The band's last studio LP, "Green", was released in 1997 on the G.U.N. label.

ALICE IN CHAINS: \'Check My Brain\' Video Released
 The video for "Check My Brain", the first official single from ALICE IN CHAINS much-anticipated new album, "Black Gives Way To Blue", can be viewed here. (Note: The video stream may not be available to some non-U.S. residents.) The clip, which was helmed by U2 and WHITE STRIPES video director Alex Courtes, will be shown today (MOnday, September 14) on MTV2 at 6 a.m., and air again at 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 10 a.m., 3 a.m., 4 a.m., and 5 a.m.
The premiere starts on MTVu at 6 a.m. and continues throughout the day.
The video has homepage placement on MTV2.com, MTVu.com and MTVmusic.com as well.
Regarding "Black Gives Way To Blue", new ALICE IN CHAINS singer William DuVall told The Flint Journal, "I think you can expect a really dense, really heavy but really ethereal and cathartic sonic experience.

TOMORROW'S OUTLOOK Records Song With Ex-HELLOWEEN Singer MICHAEL KISKE
 Norwegian metallers TOMORROW'S OUTLOOK have recorded a song with former HELLOWEEN singer Michael Kiske. Entitled "The Ethereal Dream", it is said to be "not a heavy track, but there are some rocking parts with high vocals." Two different versions of this song will appear on the band's debut, "34613" — the original, which features the talents of Mike Gorham, while the "Kiske version" will be added as a bonus track.
TOMORROW'S OUTLOOK's album, which has no release date yet, will also feature a LIZZY BORDEN cover with Graham Bonnet (MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, ALCATRAZZ, RAINBOW) on vocals. This song will also appear on "Baptized In Blood: A True Metal Tribute To Lizzy Borden", which will be released soon via Metallic Arch Angel Records.

SYBREED: Two New Songs Posted Online
 Swiss metallers SYBREED have posted two new songs — "Doomsday Party" and "I Am Ultraviolence" — on their MySpace page. Both cuts come off the band's third album, "The Pulse of Awakening", which will be released via Listenable Records on the following dates:
Nov. 16 - Switzerland, France, Benelux, UK
Nov. 20 - Germany
Nov. 23 - Rest of Europe
The U.S. release is planned for January/February 2010.
The CD was mixed and mastered by Rhys Fulber (FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY, FEAR FACTORY, PARADISE LOST), and it is said to sound "immense." The vocals and the drums for the follow-up to 2007's "Antares" were laid down at the SDF studios in Lausanne, while the guitar and bass were tracked at the Drone studio in Geneva. The cover artwork (see below) was handled by Seth from SEPTICFLESH.
According to the band, "The Pulse Of Awakening" will feature such songs as "Nomenklatura", which is being described as "a groovy, technical and hypnotic piece of industrial metal"; "Electronegative", which is "equally technical but with an intense 'right-in-ya-face,' down-to-up-tempo pace"; and "Doomsday Party", which "sounds like the illegitimate progeny of EBM beats, synth-pop melodies and metal riffing."

SAATTUE: \'Vapahtaja\' Video Released
 Finnish metallers SAATTUE have posted a new song, "Vapahtaja", on their MySpace page. The video for the track, which was directed by Matti Salminen, can be viewed below.
"Vapahtaja" features special guest appearances by Alexi Laiho (CHILDREN OF BODOM) on guitar solo, Pasi Koskinen (AJATTARA) on backing vocals and Aapo Romu (VANGUARD) on cello. The song comes off SAATTUE's sophomore album, "Vuoroveri", which is scheduled for release on October 21 via Spikefarm Records. The CD will include "eight works of heavy, dark and multi-dimensional saatto metal," according to a press release.
"Vuoroveri" was recorded at D-Studio in Klaukkala, Finland with producer Jarno Hänninen and was mastered at Finnvox Studio by Mika Jussila.

MANTICORA Working On New Material
 Danish metallers MANTICORA have issued the following update:
"We have three shows left in 2009 — all headliner shows. The first one is in Lübeck, Germany, where we'll kill and destroy on Saturday, September 26 and the last two shows are in Copenhagen, Denmark on October 30 and Nakskov, Denmark on October 31.
"We are writing new material in between the shows. Five songs are more or less finished (musically) and we have tons of ideas for other songs, so there'll definitely be a new MANTICORA album in 2010!"

TOKYO BLADE To Release \'Live In Germany\' CD/DVD
 Reactivated NWOBHM legends TOKYO BLADE will release the "Live In Germany" CD and DVD on October 27 through Razar Ice Records. The effort was recorded last November at the Keep It True festival in Würzburg, Germany during the band's "Die By The Sword" tour.
"Live In Germany" was mixed and mastered by Sid Garcia at Sight 16 Studios in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The DVD will contain bonus material, including tour rehearsal, candid footage with the band and additional live songs from throughout the 2008 tour.

URIAH HEEP\'s \'Celebration\' Pushed Back To October; Audio Samples Available
 Legendary progressive rock veterans URIAH HEEP will celebrate their 40th anniversary by looking back to their past without melancholy or nostalgia and releasing a new album, "Celebration", on October 2 (October 26 in the U.K.).
URIAH HEEP look to the future proud and happy about their 40 years of joyful relationship with their audience. That's how the title "Celebration" came about.
HEEP history has been an extraordinary journey and it was time that their greatest classics were recorded in studio by the line-up playing them live to fans all over the world for more than 20 years.
The band re-recorded twelve of their most successful songs — classics like "Free Me", "Gypsy", "The Wizard", "Easy Livin'", and, of course, their all-time smash hit "Lady in Black".
In addition to that, they have composed and recorded two completely new songs as a special gift to their fans: "Only Human" and "Corridors of Madness", two of their best tracks in years.
"Celebration" will also be a tour, reaching every major city in Europe and all over the world.
"Celebration" will be delivered in three different editions:
* Standard Edition (CD Only)
* Deluxe Edition (CD + DVD)
* Collector's Edition (CD+7" Vinyl) signed by the band.
While the "Collector's Edition" comes with a strictly limited seven-inch vinyl containing two exclusive bonus-tracks, the "Deluxe Edition" is probably the one that all hardcore fans will want to have in their collection. It will feature a DVD with URIAH HEEP's outstanding live-show at the legendary Sweden Rock Festival 2009.

SKINDRED: \'Stand For Something\' Video Released
 SKINDRED's video for song "Stand For Something" can be viewed below. The track, which is available for streaming on the b Welsh ragga-metallers' MySpace page, comes off the band's new mini-album, "Shark Bites and Dog Fights", which is scheduled for release on September 22 via Bieler Bros. Records. The record will contain eight songs, including "Who Are You?" and "Calling All Stations". It was produced by Matt LaPlant (SIKTH) at Bieler Bros. Studios in Pompano Beach, Florida.

OZZY OSBOURNE\'s SAMSUNG Commercial Pulled Over Allegations Of Chimpanzee Abuse
 After examining information supplied by PETA showing that chimpanzees and other great apes used in advertising are removed from their mothers as infants and routinely abused in behind-the-scenes training sessions, telecommunications giant Samsung has withdrawn a television commercial that showed Ozzy Osbourne watching a chimpanzee "rock star" on a smartphone (see commercial below).
Great apes used in advertisements are typically taken from their mothers not long after birth and forced to live in substandard conditions. Trainers have been caught routinely beating, kicking, punching, and electro-shocking the young animals to force them into submission and to ensure that they will "perform" tricks. These tricks, which are confusing and often uncomfortable to them, require the animals to suppress all their natural behaviors.
"PETA applauds Samsung's decision to distance itself from cruelty to apes who are used and abused in entertainment," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman.
Samsung joins a growing roster of businesses that have pulled the plug on existing ads using great apes or that have pledged not to include the animals in any future advertising. These include Arnold Worldwide, Harris Teeter, Subaru, Honda, Keds, PUMA, Yahoo!, SEGA, Levi Strauss & Co., the Ad Council, and Gap Inc.
