GLORIOR BELLI To Release \'Meet Us Of The Southern Sign\' In June

KALKI AVATARA: New Song Posted Online
 KALKI AVATARA, the solo project of ABORYM/MALFEITOR guitarist Paolo "Hell-I0-Kabbalus" Pieri, has uploaded a new song, entitled "Para Lógon" (ancient Greek, meaning "Against the Word") on MySpace. The track will appear on the project's new promo CD, which is due in late April. Also scheduled to appear on the CD is "a totally violated cover" of "Paint it Black" by THE ROLLING STONES.

XANDRIA: Video Message From New Singer Available
 A short video message from Kerstin Bischof, the singer of the German goth metal band XANDRIA, can be viewed below.
Bischof previously stated about her new gig, "I'm so excited about being XANDRIA's woman at the mic in the future! The guys and I are busy writing new songs and I love it! I can hardly wait entering the stage with them for the first time!
"In the first audition rehearsal I already felt that it just fit perfectly together — the songs rocked! Of course, the guys were kind of held back at that time but when they told me a few weeks later they felt the same…
"So here we are in the midst of tour preparations for the gigs in the Czech Republic and I'm so excited about rocking the set live!
"I'm looking forward to seeing you all on tour!"

IN-QUEST: New Album Details Revealed
 Belgian technical death metallers IN-QUEST will release their new album, "Made Out Of Negative Matter", later in the year via an as-yet-undetermined record label. According to the band, the new CD "came to life in cooperation with Jochem Jacobs (TEXTURES) of Split Second Sound [studios]. Guitars and bass were home-recorded by the band under supervision of Jochem. Drums, vocals and additional stuff were recorded by Jochem. Engineered, mixed and mastered by Jochem also."

DAATH: New Song Posted Online
 Atlanta-based quintet DAATH has posted the track "Day Of Endless Light" on the band's MySpace page. The song comes off the group's sophomore album, "The Concealers", which is scheduled for release on April 20 in Europe and April 21 in the U.S. through Century Media Records (via a partnership with Roadrunner Records). The CD was produced and mixed by Jason Suecof and Mark Lewis (TRIVIUM, ALL THAT REMAINS, DEVILDRIVER).

BALTIMOORE: New Song Available For Download
 A new BALTIMOORE track entitled "How Can You Undo What's Become Undone?" is available for download at this location. The song comes off the Swedish hard rockers' as-yet-untitled new album, which is scheduled for release on May 15.
BALTIMOORE's new lineup is as follows:

Björn Lundqvist - Bass
Örjan Fernkvist previously played on five tracks on "Best Of Baltimoore" and was a member of Sweden's SIX FEET UNDER.
BALTIMOORE released a DVD-R in 2007 containing footage taken at the band's December 17, 2006 gig at the Hard Rock Cafe in Stockholm, Sweden. ASPHYX Completes Mixing/Mastering New Album
 Reformed Dutch death metal outfit ASPHYX — Martin van Drunen (vocals), Wannes Gubbels (bass/vocals), Paul Baayens (guitar) and Bob Bagchus (drums) — has finished mixing/mastering its comeback album, "Death...The Brutal Way", for a summer release via Century Media Records. War Anthem Records will release the LP version of the effort, which was recorded at the Sonic Assault studio and engineered by Frank Klein Douwel (who is also the band's live sound engineer). Mixing duties were handled Dan Swanö (NIGHTINGALE, EDGE OF SANITY and BLOODBATH fame) at Unisound in Sweden. The band said in a statement, "The mix cracked the skull and the brain of mixmaster Dan Swanö. He gave the new album a hell of a sound as never before."
The group previously said about the new CD: "Cliché or not, this truly IS the heaviest ASPHYX album of all. This could easily be THE real follow-up to 'The Last One On Earth'. The songs are as always catchy, brutal and straight-forward. The slower parts have become even more slow and heavier than ever before. This is doom/death metal in the real ASPHYX spirit. This will grind everything to its grave! This is death metal as we, ASPHYX, like it best. Old school to the bone!"

MAROON: Entire New Album Available For Streaming
 "Order", the new album from the German modern metal machine MAROON, is available for streaming in its entirety on the band's MySpace page.
"Order" is scheduled for release on April 20 via Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2007's "The Cold Heart Of The Sun" was recorded at Klangschmiede Studio E (EISREGEN, THE VISION BLEAK, SECRETS OF THE MOON) and was mixed at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden by Fredrik Nordström (ARCH ENEMY, AT THE GATES, DARK TRANQUILLITY). The mastering duties were handled at West West Side Studios (MASTODON, UNEARTH, EARTH CRISIS) in New Windsor, New York.

SCORPIONS To Begin Work On New Album This Year
 According to a posting on the SCORPIONS fan site ScorpsNews.com, the German hard rock veterans will enter the studio in late 2009 to begin work on a new album for a 2010 release. It looks like they will be recording the new CD in their home country this time, but that could change.
The SCORPIONS will play 40 dates all around the world in 2009 starting tomorrow night (Friday, April 3) in France. The band's management is also said to be in talks with another major rock act about a possible joint tour of North America in 2010.
SCORPIONS' latest album, "Humanity - Hour 1", was produced by James Michael and co-produced by songwriter/producer Desmond Child, who has worked with such high-profile pop/rock artists as AEROSMITH, BON JOVI, ALICE COOPER, KISS, RICKY MARTIN, CHER, MICHAEL BOLTON and BONNIE TYLER.
The Best Buy edition of "Humanity - Hour 1" includes an exclusive track, "Cold". "Cold" was previously included on the Japanese pressing of the CD along with another bonus cut, a radio edit of "Love Will Keep Us Alive".

TRAIL OF TEARS: New Song Posted Online
 Norway's TRAIL OF TEARS has posted a new song, "The Feverish Alliance", on the band's MySpace page. The track comes off the group's sixth album, "Bloodstained Endurance", which will be released this spring via Napalm Records. The CD was recorded and mixed over a six-week period at Sound Suite Studio in Marseille, France with producer Terje Refsnes. Mastering duties were handled by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios in Finland.

 Earache Records has announced the reissue of CATHEDRAL's megalithic doom opus "Forest Of Equilibrium", which was originally released in 1991 and is still recognized as a landmark of the doom scene. Packaged in a deluxe digipak with amazing artwork and a double-sided poster featuring Dave Patchett's cover artwork in all its glory plus four bonus songs from the long-deleted "Soul Sacrifice" EP, the set contains a brand new 40-minute documentary entitled "Return to the Forest". The footage, which was filmed earlier this year, features an in-depth discussion about the formation of the band and the recording of the classic debut album with key early bandmembers, including longstanding core duo Lee Dorrian and Garry Jennings, plus an interview with famed cover artist Dave Patchett. SYMPHORCE Guitarist Releases New Instrumental Song
 SYMPHORCE/DOWNSPIRIT guitarist Cédric "Cede" Dupont has uploaded a new instrumental song called "Rockumental" to his MySpace profile. This is Dupont's third attempt at creating his own instrumental music. He says, "I've been jamming that certain riff lately and it turned out to be a great part of a new instrumental song I just put together."
SYMPHORCE, which also features in its ranks singer Andy B. Franck (BRAINSTORM), is currently writing material for a new studio album, tentatively due before the end of the year.
The group's last CD, "Become Death", was released in February 2007 (via Metal Blade Records. The CD was recorded at the House Of Music Studios in Winterbach (near Stuttgart), Germany with producer Dennis Ward (PINK CREAM 69). Mastering duties were handled by Achim Köhler (BRAINSTORM). | 0 | |

TÝR: New Song Available For Streaming
 Faroese Viking metallers TÝR will release their new album, "By the Light of the Northern Star", on May 29 in Europe via Napalm Records. A stream of the song "Hold the Heathen Hammer High", along with the CD artwork, is available here.
"By the Light of the Northern Star" was recorded in early 2009 on the band's native soil. Jacob Hansen mixed the new material and finishing touches were provided by the mastering experts at Finnvox.
On "By the Light of the Northern Star" the Faroese band delivers catchy yet technically brilliant tracks, and once again demonstrates how to impressively unite the contemporary present with the mythological past. Traditional homeland melodies, Viking choruses, and classic heavy metal songs, such as "Hold the Heathen Hammer High" or even the title track, offer fans new and powerful hymns. Responsible for the brilliance of this "Northern Star" is once again frontman and mastermind Heri Joensen, who provides an undisputed goosebump factor with his clean and majestic vocals.

MINSK: New Song Posted Online
 Chicago/Peoria, Illinois quartet MINSK has posted a new song, "Three Moons", on the band's MySpace page. The track comes off the group's forthcoming album, "With Echoes In The Movement Of Stone", which is scheduled for release on May 26 in North America and June 1 internationally via Relapse Records. The follow-up to "The Ritual Fires Of Abandonment" was recorded at Volume Studios in Chicago with the band's Sanford Parker in the producer's chair.
MINSK is confirmed to take part in the sold-out Roadburn festival, to be held April 23 in Tilburg, Netherlands, as well as the Polish Asymmetry festival on April 26. The band is currently routing a European tour around these dates, with details to be announced soon.
MINSK recently released a split seven-inch of ROKY ERICKSON covers with labelmates UNEARTHLY TRANCE via Parasitic Records. ROOT: Two More Albums To Be Re-Released
 Swedish label I Hate Records will re-release two classic albums from the legendary Czech dark metal band ROOT in April: "Zjeveni" (the group's debut, originally issued in 1990) and "The Temple In The Underworld" (ROOT's third LP, originally released in 1992). Both CDs will contain bonus songs from ROOT's archives as well as a new graphic layout with band photos.
ROOT recently signed a deal with U.K. merchandising company Razamataz Pro Merch Ltd. Two new ROOT t-shirts are currently available — "The Book" and "Black Seal" album designs

DREAMSCAPE Announces New Singer
 German progressive metallers DREAMSCAPE have announced the addition of singer Erik "E.Z." Blomkvist to the group's ranks. The band says, "You might know Erik from his former band PLATITUDE, with which he was touring e.g. with bands like THRESHOLD and, amongst others, played the Sweden Rock and ProgPower Europe festivals. Erik is a great guy and awesome singer and all of us are very happy to have him aboard!!!"
DREAMSCAPE has finished recording the instrumental parts for its new album, "Everlight", due later in the year via Silverwolf Productions. The vocal recordings are tentatively scheduled to take place in May.
The band's last CD, "5th Season", was released in August 2007. It was the follow-up to "Revoiced" — a "best-of" album containing re-recorded material from the group's first two CDs, "Trans-Like State" (1997) and "Very" (1999). | 0 | |

Commented Peter: "After having being asked to be part of the new OMC album, I obviously went back and listened to the previous releases of the band, so I now am able to say that in my opinion, these new nine songs are the best material I have heard of the band so far. There is a lot of more variety going on and the album will sound bigger than any other OMC record before. As far as my performance goes, this is probably the best drumming I have ever recorded so far. I am extremely happy and proud of the session and there's a lot more double bass and blast beats on here than you have normally heard me doing, so look out for this great record!"
OLD MAN'S CHILD's last album, "Vermin", was released in October 2005 via Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2003's "In Defiance of Existence" was recorded at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden and features a guest appearance by TESTAMENT/DRAGONLORD guitarist Eric Peterson. DEATH ANGEL Guitarist Joins SCARECROW
 After last year's departure of original guitarist/singer Matt Harvey, San Francisco thrashers SCARECROW have recruited the talents of Ted Aguilar (DEATH ANGEL) on guitar and ex-HATCHET frontman Marcus Kirchen on vocals. The lineup is rounded out by original members Bud Burke (EXHUMED) on lead guitar, Will Carroll (OLD GRANDAD, VICIOUS RUMORS) on drums, and Damien Sisson (POINTS NORTH) on bass. THERAPY?: \'Crooked Timber\' Video Available
 "Crooked Timber", the new video from Irish rockers THERAPY?, can be viewed below. Global Music has released THERAPY?'s new album, "Crooked Timber", on limited-edition white vinyl, available from March 30.
Released on March 23 via Global Music, "Crooked Timber" was produced by Andy Gill, a founding member and guitarist for the English rock group GANG OF FOUR, considered among the most influential post-punk bands. HATEBREED To Release 5 Consecutive Digital Singles From Forthcoming Covers Album
 Beginning today, Connecticut-based hardcore/metal leaders HATEBREED will roll out five consecutive digital singles on iTunes from their forthcoming new covers album, "For The Lions", leading up to the album's May 5 release. The first single, the band's bludgeoning take on "Thirsty & Miserable" (from BLACK FLAG) is now available for purchase.
Each digital track purchased will count toward iTunes' "complete my album" initiative. The more you buy, the less you pay for the full album on May 5.
The other forthcoming digital singles from "For The Lions" will be available on iTunes as follows:

JASON NEWSTED: \'I Have Never Regretted Leaving METALLICA\'
 Since bassist Jason Newsted left METALLICA in 2001 to form the short-lived ECHOBRAIN, METALLICA fans have wondered whether Newsted has ever regretted exiting the band. "I tell you very honestly, 1 billion percent, I have never regretted leaving METALLICA," Newsted tells RollingStone.com. "It was the right thing for everyone. It was the right thing to do for the camp, that's it. I've never told anyone that I wanted to go back or anything like that, not once. I made up my mind. It was not an easy thing to do, but it was something I had to do. I thought about it very much before I pulled the trigger, and because of that, I have never looked back. The past is where its supposed to be."
He adds, "I was one of the biggest fan of the band before I went in, and I'm a METALLICA fan still. I was always the one person in the world who had an inside look and an outside look at the band, at the same time, and now, I've been out for a while, and I'm able to be a fan again."
Does that mean Newsted likes "Death Magnetic"? “It was better than 'St. Anger'," he says.

BEHEMOTH: \'Live Eschaton - The Art Of Rebellion\' DVD Re-Released With Bonus CD
 Metal Mind Productions will re-release BEHEMOTH's "Live Eschaton – The Art Of Rebellion" DVD on April 20 in Europe and May 5 in the U.S. (via MVD). Limited to 2,000 copies, the new edition of the DVD includes a bonus CD with an audio version of the band's April 27, 2000 concert in a TV studio in Krakow. BEHEMOTH performed 10 of its landmark songs, including "Carnage", "Satan's Sword", and "Pure Evil & Hate". Special features include two bonus video tracks plus six extra audio tracks, as well as an interview with BEHEMOTH mastermind Nergal, discography, photo gallery, desktop images and more.

LACUNA COIL: Two Different Versions Of \'Spellbound\' Video Available
 Century Media Records has uploaded two different versions of "Spellbound", the new video from Italian rock/metal act LACUNA COIL. Check out the "performance" and "story" versions of the clip below.
The "Spellbound" video was shot at the Dolce & Gabbana Gold restaurant in the band's hometown of Milan, Italy with director Saku. It was produced by Apnea Film and the wardrobe was provided by Dolce & Gabbana.

Former THE STORYTELLER Singer Joins Forces With SCAR SYMMETRY Guitarist
 Following the break-up of the Swedish metal band THE STORYTELLER, lead singer L-G Persson began work on a solo project with SCAR SYMMETRY guitarist Per Nilsson. Dubbed CATACOMB, the group's musical direction is described by Persson as "metal with lots of influences, both from the musical scene as well from the classic metal scene."

HEEL To Release \'Chaos And Greed\' In May
 Swedish melodic metallers HEEL will release their second album, "Chaos And Greed", on May 15 via CMSweden/Rivel Records. According to a press release, the CD "follows the Swedish metal tradition of bands such as NOCTURNAL RITES, INSANIA STOCKHOLM, CRYSTAL EYES and many others."
Formed in 2003 by Marcus Elisson and David Henriksson (ex-INSANIA STOCKHOLM), HEEL released its highly acclaimed debut, "Evil Days", in 2007. The recordings for the follow-up effort started in March 2008. Lead singer David Henriksson comments, "We felt that we discovered our sound when we wrote the song 'Heel', and kept on in the same spirit when we started writing new songs. In December 2008, everything was done and we are very much satisfied with the result."
