W.A.S.P.: New Album Details Revealed
 Global Music has set an October 12 release date (via Demolition Records) for "Babylon", the new album from U.S. rockers W.A.S.P. Themed around biblical visions of "The Four Horseman of the Apocalypse," the CD is described in a press release as "a metal masterpiece that will make fans both old and new craving for more."

BURNT BY THE SUN: Entire New Album Available For Streaming
 "Heart Of Darkness", the new full-length album from the New Jersey-based hardcore/metal band BURNT BY THE SUN, is available for streaming in its entirety at this location. Due on August 18 in North America and August 24 internationally via Relapse Records, the effort will be available on CD, limited edition LP, and a limited-edition deluxe CD/DVD set that includes all of the band's official music and live videos plus behind-the-scenes footage shot during the making of "Heart Of Darkness". ECHOES OF ETERNITY: \'As Shadows Burn\' Album Teaser Available
 A three-and-a-half minute video teaser for "As Shadows Burn", the forthcoming second album from Los Angeles female-fronted progressive metallers ECHOES OF ETERNITY, can be viewed below. Due in North America on September 22 via Nuclear Blast Records (the LP will be issued in Europe on September 25 through Massacre), the follow-up to 2007's "The Forgotten Goddess" was produced and mixed by former MACHINE HEAD/SOULFLY guitarist Logan Mader, who has previously worked with GOJIRA, DIVINE HERESY, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY.

AGALLOCH Bassist Launches SELF SPILLER
 AGALLOCH bassist Jason Walton has just unleashed his newest project, which he has been working on for the past five years. Dubbed SELF SPILLER, the experimental black metal outfit's debut album is currently being recorded and mixed at Walton's Audio Savant Studios for a late 2009 release via Vendlus Records.
SELF SPILLER's forthcoming CD will feature guest appearances by a number of other musicians, including Don Anderson (AGALLOCH, SCULPTURED), Rob Kleiner (TUB RING), Marius Sjoli (INDELIBLE) and Robert Osgood (HOLLOW BRANCHES).

SEPULTURA's ANDREAS KISSER Releases First Solo Video
 "Em Busca Do Ouro", the new video from SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser, can be viewed below. The song comes off Kisser's solo debut, "Hubris I & II", which was released on June 15 via Holland's Mascot Records. A two-disc set, the self-produced effort was recorded in part at A Voz do Brasil studio in São Paulo, Brazil.

FOR RUIN To Release \'Last Light\' In October
 Ireland's FOR RUIN will self-release its second album, "Last Light", on October 30. The CD was recorded earlier this year with producer Alwyn Walker at Komodo Mobile Studios and it features artwork (below) by Paul McCarroll who has previously worked with PRIMORDIAL, among others.
"Last Light" will be preceded by the release of a digital-only EP, available through CDBaby in late August/September. The EP will contain new album tracks, a remixed older track and other material.
According to FOR RUIN, "Last Light" will be made "freely available" via the band's web sites upon its release, and high-quality and hard copies (CDs) of the album will be produced, along with other merchandise.

ANNIHILATOR: \'Live At Masters Of Rock\' DVD Due In October
 Canadian thrash metal veterans ANNIHILATOR will release their new DVD, "Live At Masters Of Rock", in October. The cover artwork for the set — which was filmed/recorded on July 11, 2008 at the Masters Of Rock festival in Vizovice, Czech Republic — can be viewed below.
ANNIHILATOR mainman Jeff Waters commented in May 2009 on the reports that the band's record label, the Hanover, Germany-based SPV, had submitted an application to commence insolvency proceedings on May 25 — roughly equivalent to Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. He stated, "I wish them [SPV] all the best and they have given us metal fans some great releases for a long time.
"The good news is that I signed a deal with SPV, only a few weeks ago, releasing ANNIHILATOR from their contractual commitments to SPV, in return for a live DVD that we shot last summer in the Czech Republic.
"SPV will be releasing the DVD soon (and it rocks; co-headlining in front of 30,000 metal maniacs!) but ANNIHILATOR are now free from the label and negotiating with others to release the new and finished 13th studio release."

EXTREME: Boston Show Filmed For Forthcoming DVD
 Fan-filmed video footage of reunited Massachusetts hard rockers EXTREME performing a cover of VAN HALEN's "Mean Street" on August 8, 2009 at the House of Blues in Boston can be viewed below. The entire concert was professionally filmed for a DVD which is tentatively due before the end of the year.
"Saudades de Rock", the new album from EXTREME, sold 6,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 78 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD entered the U.K. chart at position No. 80.

ARCH ENEMY: Re-Recorded Version Of \'Beast Of Man\' Posted Online
 Swedish/German extreme metallers ARCH ENEMY will release a new album, "The Root Of All Evil", on September 28 in Europe and October 6 in North America via Century Media Records. This special collection features re-recorded versions of songs from the band's first three LPs — "Black Earth" (1996), "Stigmata" (1998) and "Burning Bridges" (1999). Acclaimed British producer Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, EXODUS) mixed and mastered the CD, which was recorded at a few different locations in Sweden and produced by ARCH ENEMY with Daniel Erlandsson and Rickard Bengtsson handling the engineering.

WITHIN TEMPTATION To Release \'An Acoustic Night At The Theatre\' In October
 Dutch female-fronted symphonic metallers WITHIN TEMPTATION will release a new live album, "An Acoustic Night At The Theatre", on October 30 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and November 2 in the rest of Europe. According to the band, the CD "contains acoustic live tracks that were recorded during our sold-out theatre tour in November 2008. These were very special concerts, as we added an acoustic set to our live show, making our show more intimate. Besides this we used film projections emphasizing the great theatre ambiance."

"I am happy to inform you that: The 6th of August at 2 a.m. , my girlfriend Silje gave birth to our twins. A boy and a girl.
"We are all well and right now we are recovering and trying to adjust to the new situation.
"My children are remarkably good-looking (they got their looks from their mom, of course). They also handle extreme vocals very well. I would not be surprised if they were to be singing in TRISTANIA one day. With other instruments, it is a bit early to say. Though I am optimistic."

ILLNATH Parts Ways With Drummer, Seeks Replacement
 Danish melodic black metallers ILLNATH have parted ways with drummer Danni Lyse Jelsgaard. The band states, "We wish him all the possible luck with his other band SVARTSOT and all other musical projects or bands he joins. He is a lovely chap and an amazing drummer, and we do part as the best possible friends."
The group adds, "We would all personally apologize to those fans and friends who are waiting for shows that now will be cancelled. We know you have been through this before, and We're truly sorry. The remaining members of the band are dedicated to the ILLNATH soul that lives on and we will never give up!

WATCH ME BLEED To Release \'Souldrinker\' In October
 WATCH ME BLEED, the German band featuring MYSTIC PROPHECY guitar player Markus Pohl and SYMPHORCE drummer Steffen Theurer, will release its debut album, "Souldrinker", on October 23 via Silverwolf Productions. A teaser for the CD can be viewed below.
"Souldrinker" was mixed by Christian "Moschus" Moos (DELAIN, C-187, EVERON) at Spacelab studios and was mastered by Eroc (SODOM, DELAIN) at the Mastering Ranch. It contains eleven songs with guest appearances by Andy B. Franck (BRAINSTORM), Nemesis (EIGENSINN) and Greek guitar wizard Constantine (MYSTIC PROPHECY, THE DESCENDING). According to Markus Pohl, the band "is extremely satisfied with the whole album, the sound and the songs." The end result is "pure metal, aggressive, in your face and heavy. HOUR OF PENANCE To Enter Studio This Month
 Italian death metallers HOUR OF PENANCE will enter 16th Cellar studio in Rome on August 27 with engineer Stefano Morabito to begin recording their as-yet-untitled fourth album.
Commented guitarist Giulio Moschini: "After less than a year of songwriting, we're finally ready to hit the studio and record the new album. We're very satisfied with the results of the songwriting sessions; everything went smooth and all the songs came out in a spontaneous way. We have enough material to record almost two albums but as we did with the previous album, 'The Vile Conception', only the best 10 songs will appear on the new opus. This time we will work with Stefano Morabito to get a more 'live' approach and a more natural sound to the new album which will embrace a lot of new and different features from the past releases. I'm sure our loyal fans will not be disappointed when they hear the final result!"

SAATTUE: New Album Pushed Back To October
 Finnish metallers SAATTUE have had the release date of their second album, "Vuoroveri", pushed back to October 21 from the previously announced September 9 (via Spikefarm Records). The CD will include "eight works of heavy, dark and multi-dimensional saatto metal," according to a press release.
"Vuoroveri" was recorded at D-Studio in Klaukkala, Finland with producer Jarno Hänninen and was mastered at Finnvox Studio by Mika Jussila.

Floor Jansen: New Project On The Way
 After the final stop I started missing the metal scene and it’s music and decided I wanted to come back ASAP with a new metalband. To accomplish this I want to work with other songwriters to first write and record an album. A live band will be formed after that to get me back on stage where I long to be so much!
When Waldemar Sorychta (Grip Inc, Enemies Of The Sun, ao) contacted me; the first composer was found. As a fan of Grip Inc the idea of working together was a big honor and a first step in creating a sound! The combination of Waldemar’s unique style and experience as songwriter/producer made my dream come closer to reality. I also asked my After Forever colleague Joost van den Broek for his great synth sounds and arrangements. Despite his busy schedule he wanted to come on board immediately with great enthusiasm and the songwriting team was complete!
The sound will become a unique blend of the personal style we know these musicians from, but not yet together in one album which is to become heavy and very metal!
The songwriting has just begun! Who will join this team in the future is not known yet nor which label will release the album. All we can say for now; next year there will be new band and a new album!
I will keep updating you and I promise to give you a preview as soon as possible!!!

ILLDISPOSED: New Song Available For Streaming
 A new ILLDISPOSED song entitled "For The Record" is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. The track comes off the Danish extreme metallers' new album, "To Those Who Walk Behind Us", which will be released on August 28 via Massacre Records. The CD was recorded at AB Studio in Aarhus, Denmark and was mixed at Fredman Studio in Sweden with Fredrik Nordström. 11 tracks will appear on the new ILLDISPOSED LP (out of a total of 16 that were completed during the songwriting sessions), which will be available as a jewel case CD, limited digipack with bonus material and strictly limited box set with exclusive t-shirt. The group says, "We guarantee you won't be disappointed!"

TORCHBEARER: Title Of New Album Changed
 Swedish death/black metal band TORCHBEARER has changed the title of its forthcoming third album to "Death Meditations" from the previously announced "Dying Codex". The CD will be mixed by Tomas "Plec" Johansson, who is now also a member of TORCHBEARER, at his Panic Room studios, for a possible late November release through Vic Records.

BRAINSTORM To Release \'Memorial Roots\' In October - Aug. 10, 2009
 German melodic metallers BRAINSTORM have set "Memorial Roots" as the title of their new album, due in October via the band's new label, AFM Records. 15 songs were recorded for the CD, which is currently being mixed at the Gate Studio in Wolfsburg, Germany under the watchful eye of Sascha Paeth and Miro as producers. So far only one new songtitle has been revealed — "Forsake What I Believed", which frontman Andy B. Franck callas "a headcrusher."
BRAINSTORM's latest album, "Downburst", registered the following first-week chart positions: Hungary: #15; Germany: #53; Switzerland: #96.
Metal Blade in June 2007 released the first-ever BRAINSTORM DVD, "Honey from the B's (Beasting around the Bush)". The box set was released in digipack format "with special metal effect." The disc entered the Hungarian Music DVD chart at position No. 18.
