VOIVOD: Another New Song Available For Streaming
 A new VOIVOD song, "Deathproof", is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. The track comes off the Canadian metal innovators' new album, "Infini", which is scheduled for release in the U.S. on Tuesday, June 23 via Relapse Records. The CD, which will be issued in Europe via Nuclear Blast, contains the last thirteen songs written by the group's late guitarist, Denis "Piggy" D'Amour, and again features bassist Jason "Jasonic" Newsted (ex-METALLICA). Jason played bass on all the songs and mixed the album, which will be released as a deluxe, digipack CD and will also be issued on vinyl as a double LP.
"Infini" was built from the final songs created by the band with D'Amour. All his original demo guitar tracks appear as they were recorded — with no re-amping and no overdubs; just Piggy as he played the tracks he envisioned in his small bachelor apartment, the amp in the bathroom, capturing his performance with the laptop given to him by Jason.

EVIL MASQUERADE: \'Desire And Pain\' Video Released
 "Desire and Pain", the new video from the Denmark-based symphonic metal band EVIL MASQUERADE, can be viewed below. The song comes off the group's fourth album, "Fade To Black", which was released in January via Escape Music. The follow-up to 2006's "Third Act" was mixed and mastered by Tommy Hansen (JORN, HELLOWEEN) at Jailhouse Studios in Denmark and features a guest appearance by former RAINBOW keyboardist Tony Carey.

ECHOTERRA Completes Work On Debut Album
 ECHOTERRA, the new female-fronted symphonic rock/metal band featuring Swedish vocalist Suvi Virtanen (ex-THERION), keyboardist Jonah Weingarten (PYRAMAZE), guitarist Yan Leviathan (AVIAN), bassist Brian Hollenbeck on bass, and drummer John Gensmer (EPICUREAN), will release its debut album, "The Law Of One", this fall. One of the songs that will appear on the CD, "In Your Eyes", is currently available for streaming on the group's MySpace page.

DESTRUCTION: \'The Curse Of The Antichrist\' Release Date Announced
 "The Curse Of The Antichrist - Live In Agony", the new double live album from German thrash metal veterans DESTRUCTION, will be released on July 31 via AFM Records. Check out the cover artwork below.

DESTRUCTION recently completed the "D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N. - 25 Years Of Total Destruction" North American trek with KRISIUN and MANTIC RITUAL.
"D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N.", the new album from DESTRUCTION, last year entered the Media Control chart in the band's home country at position No. 65.  Guitarist "Metal" Mike Chlasciak (HALFORD, PAINMUSEUM, SEBASTIAN BACH) has set "The Metalworker" as the title of his upcoming solo album. Songtitles set to apear on the CD include "Don't Shoot The Crown", "Tonight We Ride", "Grand Tourismo Berlinetta" and "Sever The Gods".
"The Metalworker" will be accompanied by a heavy metal guitar instructional DVD showcasing the album tracks.

LINKIN PARK: \'New Divide\' Video Released
 The music video for LINKIN PARK's "New Divide" can be viewed below. The much-buzzed-about companion clip to the band's Alternative Airplay chart-topping single was shot on a soundstage at Paramount Studios in Hollywood with LINKIN PARK DJ/award-winning video director Joe Hahn at the helm.
Hahn has also produced a special four-part series focusing on the making of the music video. The first installment debuted June 5 on MySpace Music; the second was made available June 9 on MTV.com; the third was posted June 10 on Facebook, and the finale premiered June 11 on LPU (lpunderground.com). Those anticipating the June 24 release of director Michael Bay's upcoming summer blockbuster "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" should note that the "New Divide" video features key visual elements from the film.
"New Divide", which LINKIN PARK specifically wrote and recorded for "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen", has quickly made radio history, becoming the third song ever to debut simultaneously in the top 10 of Billboard's Hot 100 and Alternative Charts (the other two were COLDPLAY's "Speed of Sound" and LINKIN PARK's own "What I've Done".). In addition to being LINKIN PARK's highest-debuting song ever on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, "New Divide" is the highest-debuting song on Billboard's Alternative Chart in over a year. LINKIN PARK is now one of only five artists in the 20-year history of the Alternative Chart to have three songs debut in the Top 10. The other four bands to accomplish this feat are U2, REM, PEARL JAM and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS. "New Divide" is currently No. 1 on the BDS/Billboard Alternative Chart.
Opening in theaters on June 24, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" stars Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro. LINKIN PARK also contributed to the film's score with award-winning composer Steve Jablonsky and the score's executive producer, Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer.
"New Divide" will also appear on the Reprise Records soundtrack "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: The Album", which arrives in stores on June 23.

SWALLOW THE SUN: New Album Details Revealed
 Finnish doom metallers SWALLOW THE SUN have issued the following update:
"We are entering Fascination Street studios in Örebro, Sweden on June 15 to record our fifth album, which will be called 'New Moon'. The album will be produced and mixed by Jens Bogren, who has worked with such names as KATATONIA, OPETH, PARADISE LOST and AMON AMARTH, just to name a few. And as we announced earlier, Kai Hahto (WINTERSUN, ex-ROTTEN SOUND) will be playing drums on the album. We are thrilled and looking forward to working with such professionals.

The guys have felt it too and there's no point for me to deny it. It just affects the chemistry in the band too much, so it is time for me to step aside."

GOD DETHRONED: \'Drowning In Mud\' Video Released
 "Drowning In Mud", the new video from the Dutch melodic death metal band GOD DETHRONED, can be viewed below. The song comes off the group's latest album, "Passiondale", which was released in April as a limited double digipack edition including a bonus CD. The double-digipack features stunning artwork and two discs: the regular album plus a live recording from 2005 featuring nine songs! The CD was recorded at Soundlodge studios in Germany with producer Jörg Uken.
GOD DETHRONED frontman Henri Sattler explains the lyrical concept of "Passiondale": "It says Passendale on the street sign. The little village with its huge Tyne Cot cemetery and memorial centre. I passed it many times on the way to Isaac (Delahaye, our former guitar player) for another of our notorious drinking sessions in Ypres not far from the French border. I got really impressed by how this town breathes World War I. The numerous cemeteries, the Menin Gate with its daily last post ceremony since 1929 with the exception of just one day during a bombardment in World War II, the buildings that have been rebuilt in their original state and definitely all the English, Irish and Scottish people that visit Ypres every weekend, probably because one of their relatives died there during the war. During the night at the bars and pubs, they tended to get really drunk and sang louder than the barman could crank up the stereo set! It's during these times that I got inspired by the Great War and decided to write a concept album about it. Ypres and Passendale were the center of war activities during the war with around 900,000 casualties compared to nine million worldwide. I realized how harsh it must have been there during those four years. Passchendaele was the official name of the little village during the war, but since the English speaking armies couldn't pronounce that, they nicknamed it to: Passiondale"

ALTER BRIDGE Issuing Two Versions Of Live DVD
 According to The Pulse of Radio, ALTER BRIDGE will release two different versions of an upcoming concert DVD titled "Live In Amsterdam". The first version will be released on August 4 and will be a single-disc set sold exclusively at dates on this summer's CREED reunion tour. A second edition is tentatively scheduled to arrive on September 22 and will expand to a two-disc collection, with the full concert accompanied by a 60-plus-minute documentary, a photo gallery and other content. This version will be sold everywhere and will also be available as a Blu-ray disc.
ALTER BRIDGE guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips all play in CREED, which announced its reunion after a five-year hiatus earlier this spring.
Tremonti told The Pulse of Radio that CREED's activities will have no effect on ALTER BRIDGE's output or future plans. "In the ALTER BRIDGE camp, it's business as usual. We've got a record coming out. Nobody's getting any less. If they're a fan of one thing, they're gonna get that. If they're a fan of both, they're gonna get double. You know, it's — nobody's gonna get gypped on any side of the fence."
CREED is now recording its first studio album since 2001 and will begin its comeback tour on August 6 in Pittsburgh. A report earlier this week at industry news site Hits Daily Double indicated that tickets for the trek are selling far below expectations.

ROTTING CHRIST Preparing To Enter Studio
 Greek extreme metal veterans ROTTING CHRIST have issued the following update:
"New songs composing process has almost been completed and the band is ready to enter the studio for the recording sessions of its upcoming album that will follow up the very successful latest album, 'Theogonia'. Sakis Tolis (vocals, guitar) will take care of the production again, and as being the main composer too, he declares that he had his most trippy and exhausted simultaneously experience on his career squeezing his mind drawing down ideas that will follow up the band's latest album, 'Theogonia', and the end of the process find him as well as the whole band totally convicted that they finally managed it. We haven't more to say than proving it with the upcoming recordings and of course with its release that roughly estimated to be released in January 2010."

ROTTING CHRIST played "an underground anniversary show" at 8ball Club in Thessaloniki, Greece on March 21, 2009. They performed a set that focused on the band's first three albums.

ROTTING CHRIST released its long-awaited 2DVD + 2CD digipack, "Non Serviam - A 20 Year Apocryphal Story", in Europe on February 23 via Season of Mist. The set, which will be released in the U.S. on May 5, features the band's most popular and classic songs, including some rare treats, to celebrate their special 20th anniversary show in their hometown Athens in front of a fanatic audience in December 2007. Completing the package is a bonus DVD filled with extra footage from the "Sanctus Diavolos" and "Theogonia" tours, an interview with frontman Sakis Tolis telling the story of the band, bootlegs live videos, promotional clips and much more. Last but not least, these five hours of video are backed by two audio CDs taking up 25 tracks from the Athens show plus seven exclusive tracks recorded live in February 2007 at B-Live in Larisa, Greece.

SPAWN OF POSSESSION Vocalist Quits
 Vocalist Mordechai Von Renvaktar (a.k.a. Jonas Renvaktar) has announced his departure from the Swedish technical death metal outfit SPAWN OF POSSESSION. He explains, "I have been forced to leave my duties in SPAWN OF POSSESSION to fully concentrate on the ongoing war against the sun-worshippers and to intensify my fight for eternal winter together with my brothers in ISTAPP. The war is expanding and I'm needed for the battle same as you. Our horde grows stronger by the minute and you all have to choose side. You are with us or you are not at all."
SPAWN OF POSSESSION recently posted a two-minute pre-production teaser of a new song at this location.
SPAWN OF POSSESSION's sophomore album, "Noctambulant", was released in 2006 via Neurotic Records. The CD was recorded at Pama Studios in Kristianopel, Sweden with producer Magnus Sedenberg.

HEATHEN: New Album Delayed
 "The Evolution Of Chaos", the long-awaited new album from reactivated San Francisco Bay Area thrashers HEATHEN, has had its release date (via Holland's Mascot Records) pushed back to late 2009 from the previously announced July 20. The band, which began recording the new CD in 2008, is said to still be mixing the effort.

 Audio samples of all 13 tracks that appear on "Infini", VOIVOD's final album featuring the group's late guitarist, Denis "Piggy" D'Amour, are available for streaming at the Nuclear Blast Musicshop.

ASSASSIN Announces New Rhythm Section
 Reactivated German thrashers ASSASSIN have issued the following update:
"Longtime member Frank Nellen [drums] has left the band due to private reason and has been replaced by Björn Sondermann (WICKED KEMAO and many more). New man on the bass is Joachim Kremer who also is a very experienced musician who played in many different project (SKINNY BOLD etc.).
"The band is busy finishing songs for the next album and are currently searching for a new record label." According to the group, the upcoming CD will feature "old-school thrash with a modern touch!"
ASSASSIN took part in the "Chris Witchhunter Memorial Concert" on April 11, 2009 at Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen, Germany. The event honored late SODOM drummer Chris Dudek (a.k.a. Witchhunter), who died on September 8, 2008 due to vital organ failure.

 A new ANAAL NATHRAKH track titled "In The Constellation Of The Black Widow" is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. The song is the title cut of the British extreme metal duo's new album, which is scheduled for release on June 29 via Candlelight Records. A limited-edition gatefold colored vinyl version of the effort will be made available at the same time via Feto Records (the label run by NAPALM DEATH's Shane Embury and ANAAL NATHRAKH's Mick Kenney).

Former NEGURA BUNGET Members Launch DORDEDUH
 Former NEGURA BUNGET members Hupogrammos (guitars, vocals, bass, keyboards, archaic instruments) and Sol Faur (guitar) have launched a brand new project called DORDEDUH (rough translation: "yearning for the spirit"). The band's lineup also includes Arioch (former bassist for NEGURA BUNGET and ex-guitarist of ODEM ARCARUM and SECRETS OF THE MOON), Thelemnar (SECRETS OF THE MOON, THE VISION BLEAK, NEGURA BUNGET) and Sergio Ponti (EPHEL DUATH, ILLOGICIST). A keyboard player is currently being sought as well as someone to play all the traditional instruments that the group intends to use in its music.
Commented the band: "We are eager to step on the stage again and to bring out as soon as possible the new album that we'll be working on. AGUA DE ANNIQUE Preparing To Enter Studio
 AGUA DE ANNIQUE/ex-THE GATHERING vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen has issued the following update
"It's been one hell of a week.
"As you may know, I was in Canada, writing and recording with [Canadian multi-instrumentalist/producer] Devin Townsend [STRAPPING YOUNG LAD]. Forgive me if I speak too much about it, but that was absolutely a great experience. He's one of the best musicians I have ever met and a very nice and genuine person as well.
"We recorded lots of vocals for his new album, 'Addicted', and together we wrote four songs for my upcoming album. Let me tell you in all modesty: It's gonna be marvy!!!
"Another memorable experience for me was our show in Amsterdam at the Night of Tibet. We played a show with AGUA and I performed the Tibet song 'Als Je Ooit Nog Eens Terug Kan' together with Holland's finest musicians in front H.H. the Dalai Lama, who was there to speak. I am still in awe of his peaceful message. After we shook hands, I was able to feel his energy and warmth for hours.
"I can safely say this has been one of the most inspiring weeks yet. All this good energy will be put into good use, because it's almost time to record our new album. The songs are written, the studio is almost finished and our spirits are high. We have 16 songs to choose from and I guess about 12 will make the album. I will keep you all posted.
"Please note that coming Saturday the 13th of June we will play our last AGUA show at De Groene Engel in Oss, the Netherlands, before we lock ourselves up in our studio. We are looking forward to see everybody again and we'll have a good party indeed. To us this night will be kinda special, since we played all most non-stop since the release of 'Air' and 'Pure Air'. We'll be back on stage in the fall, but I hope you all come to join this festive show so we can say goodbye and wish you a good summer. Indie band WOOST will also be joining us on stage. They are one of my fave bands in Holland. Doors open at 8.30 p.m."

HIM To Enter Studio In August; New Album Title Announced
 Finnish "love metallers" HIM have set "Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice" as the title of their new album, tentatively due in February 2010 via Warner Bros. Records worldwide. The CD will be recorded in August at a Los Angeles studio with producer Matt Squire, who has previously worked with TAKING BACK SUNDAY, THE USED, PANIC AT THE DISCO, BOYS LIKE GIRLS and THRICE, among others.
HIM's last studio album, "Venus Doom", sold 38,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 12 on The Billboard 200 chart. Its predecessor, "Dark Light", has shifted 580,000 units in the U.S. to date.
HIM's CD/DVD set, "Digital Versatile Doom: Live at the Orpheum Theatre", was released in April 2008. The live portion of the DVD was recorded/filmed at the band's November 14-15, 2007 concerts at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. "Digital Versatile Doom" also features a second disc, with the full live performance from The Orpheum Theater and a 16-page booklet of original art and images.

DEATHBOUND Preparing To Enter Studio
 Finnish grinding death metal act DEATHBOUND, featuring members of ...AND OCEANS, THE DUSKFALL and ROTTEN SOUND, will enter Kantola studios on June 22 to begin recording its new album, tentatively titled "Non Compos Mentis". A late 2009 release is expected.

TARJA TURUNEN Announces Backing Band For \'Summer Storm\' Tour
 Former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen's band for her Summer Storm 2009 Tour will consist of the following musicians:
* Tarja Turunen - Vocals
* Mike Terrana (MASTERPLAN, SAVAGE CIRCUS, ex-RAGE, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) - Drums
* Maria Ilmoniemi - Keyboards
* Doug Wimbish (LIVING COLOUR, MADONNA, JEFF BECK, THE ROLLING STONES) - Bass
* Kiko Loureiro (ANGRA) - Guitar
* Max Lilja (HEVEIN, ex-APOCALYPTICA) - Cello
According to a posting on Tarja's web site, "all the shows on Summer Storm 2009 Tour were declared 'camera-friendly,' which means that you are welcome to bring your photo camera and take as many pictures as you wish. This is with the exception of gigs in festivals, where you will have to ask to the organization of the festival about their camera policy for we can not exceed the regulations established by them."

 Gothic Metal icon Morten Veland (Tristania, Sirenia) has inked a deal with Napalm Records for his new band Mortemia. Morten promises his fans a sweeping listening experience, which will follow the path of Tristania’s masterpiece “Beyond the Veil”. The first songs stay true to his promise and offer beautiful melodies and bombastic choir passages, thus creating the perfect blend of traditional Gothic Metal and modern elements.

CALIBAN Signs With CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS
 German metalcore band CALIBAN has inked a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. The group's seventh album, "Say Hello To Tradegy", is scheduled for release on August 24. The follow-up to 2007's "The Awakening" was once again produced by Benny Richter, co-produced by guitarist Marc Goertz and was mixed by KILLSWITCH ENGAGE guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz.
Commented Goertz: "We are more then happy to announce that we have signed a new record deal at Century Media Records! We are really looking forward to working with them! We just visited their office and met everyone who works there and have to say that it already feels like home."

BELPHEGOR: New Album Title Announced
 Austrian blackened death metal outfit BELPHEGOR have set "Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn" as the title of their eighth full-length studio album, due out in October via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2008's "Bondage Goat Zombie" was recorded at Andy Classen's (LEGION OF THE DAMNED, DEW-SCENTED, NEAERA, ASPHYX) Stage One Studios in Kassel, Germany.
Commented frontman Helmuth: "The title fits perfect to the whole concept, the lyrical themes. It's typical BELPHEGOR, involving symbology and double meanings. I have always been fascinated by the idea and atmosphere surrounding witches, their magic, the insane sabbath/ ceremonies — and all the obscurity that goes with it. With the nine sound collages, the verses, artwork we continue our descent into the depths of musical hell."
