WITCHCRAFT To Release Acoustic Album Black Metal In May

Magnus Pelander’s Witchcraft have existed at the forefront of occult tinged classic rock ever since their formation in the year 2000, when Magnus decided to form the band so that he could record a tribute to his idols Roky Erickson and Pentagram’s Bobby Liebling. The pioneering band has never made excuses for their inspirations, but went on to craft numerous genre-defining classics themselves. Witchcraft’s illustrious career from their self-titled debut in 2004 through to the 2012’s Legend album to the wondrous Nucleus in 2016, became cult classics and propelled the band to new levels of reverence within their scene. When it comes to blending doom with classic rock and flourishes of masterful ambience, nobody could touch them.

Now, Magnus takes Witchcraft in a brave new direction, setting forth into entirely new territory. Exhibiting the pure emotion that has always lived at the core of the band’s work, by moving forward alone: The band’s first new album in four years, titled Black Metal, is an entirely acoustic affair. From opener and the just premiered, first single, "Elegantly Expressed Depression," it’s clear that this new facet of the band’s sound allows the rawness and fragility to shine in an entirely new light. The minimalism of Bill Callaghan, the tenderness of Elliot Smith and the air of slight discomfort that could only be Witchcraft combine to make this record a truly unique spectacle, not only in the band’s catalogue, but in the world of guitar music as it stands in 2020.

Black Metal will be available as a CD, vinyl and in digital formats on May 1, 2020 via Nuclear Blast. Preorder here.

Tracklisting:

“Elegantly Expressed Depression”
“A Boy And A Girl”
“Sad People”
“Grow”
“Free Country”
“Sad Dog”
“Take Him Away”

HEART's NANCY WILSON Covers DEPECHE MODE's 'Policy Of Truth' With ERIC TESSMER

Austin-based guitar great Eric Tessmer has teamed up with Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer Nancy Wilson to record a set of genre-bending covers, the first of which premieres today (Friday, March 13) on streaming platforms worldwide. Originally a synthpop smash for DEPECHE MODE, "Policy Of Truth" gets a dramatic sonic makeover from Tessmer and Wilson, who share vocals on the guitar-heavy track. Listen to the track below, and watch a behind-the-scenes video.

Tessmer — who Guitar World magazine ranks among its "best kept six string secrets" — first met Wilson after performing a private benefit show in 2017. "It was a mind-blowing, jaw-dropping thing to watch Eric for the first time," Wilson recalls. "Eric was tapping into a pure rock and roll thing I can really appreciate." The pair immediately bonded, and after an impromptu all-night living room jam, Wilson and Tessmer vowed to stay in touch and explore doing a project together.

Though they were eager to get in the studio, Tessmer says they "weren't interested in sending tracks back and forth or constructing a sound on a screen." Wilson puts it this way: "There's a more recent way of playing music, that's more like putting music together. It sounds compartmentalized," she explains. "That's why I had to come here — we've gotta be in the same room."

The opportunity finally came in March 2019, when Wilson traveled to Austin to join Eric at The Clubhouse, a residential studio near South Congress. There in a one-room space they worked with producer/keyboardist David Rice, bassist Chris Maresh, and A&F Drum co-founder/drummer Ramy Antoun. The group re-imagined an unexpected and ambitious collection of Wilson and Tessmer favorites, including "Policy Of Truth". The single was mixed by Tim Palmer (PEARL JAM, DAVID BOWIE) and is live on Spotify, Apple Music, and other major streaming platforms now.

KORPIKLAANI Release Official Lyric Video For Slovakian Version Of "Beer Beer" Featuring MILAN From ACHSAR

Finnish folk metal party machine Korpiklaani have checked in with the following update:

"Today we release our Slovakian 'Pivo Pivo' from our a dear friend Milan, Achsar. We had timed this for our upcoming shows in Slovakia, however due to the current situation, we have had to reschedule to September. For our UK shows we had to postpone, we ask for more patience."

Milan states: "Story of my life, hehe. It was really fun and honor joining this project by side of the great singers from all around the world. Thanks for the opportunity. Cheers!"

Korpiklaani recently released their new digital single, "Jägermeister", and also wish to extend a very warm welcome to their new drummer, Samuli Mikkonen.

Korpiklaani stated, "Every journey has a beginning and an end. After 17 years and many good memories, Matson leaves Korpiklaani. Our new drummer is Samuli Mikkonen. Samuli is formerly known from Profane Omen and Jonne. He already drummed on our Kulkija album, as he played some of the tracks on the record. Samuli has also been a fill-in live drummer for Battle Beast. Samuli is an energetic drummer with a bombastic playing style. Just wait and see!"

Samuli commented, "I could not be more honoured and excited to become a part of Korpiklaani. My journey with this music started when I joined the Jonne band back in 2013. I had a musical connection with Jonne right away and we began to make songs together. When Korpiklaani was making Kulkija in Petrax Studios in autumn 2017, I was asked to fill in for some songs. At the end of the day I had recorded drums for 'Neito,' 'Aallon alla,' 'Harmaja,' 'Kotikonnut' and 'Tuttu on tie.' I was enjoying the music and we had a great time with the band in the studio. I'm very proud of that album. I have been following the band for two decades now and I'm very thrilled to have a chance to play all those great songs live. See you on the road!"

"Jägermeister," is available to purchase digitally here. You can view the video for the track below, shot at their recent New York show:

AEROSMITH: 'Don't Spread The Disease'

Legendary rockers AEROSMITH are the latest musicians to stress the importance of international solidarity as we address the effects of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus.

There have been more than 169,000 confirmed cases and more than 6,000 deaths so far, putting public health systems and emergency services under immense pressure.

Earlier today (Monday, March 16), the members of AEROSMITH — all of whom are either in their late 60s or early 70s — took to their social media to share the following message: "#BeatTheVirus - You may have it and not know it. Don't spread the disease. Stay home as much as you can. Wash your hands often and try to keep 6 feet apart. Now is the time to engage online and not in person. It is not just about you, it's about us... All of us!"

There is no known cure yet for the flu-like virus, which originated in China.

Officials have made it clear that the elderly — especially those with heart, lung and immunological conditions — are particularly vulnerable to the coronavirus, with at least 25 deaths linked to one nursing home in Washington.

In Italy, which has one of the oldest populations in the world, one hundred percent of the people who have died have been over 60, and the vast majority over 80.

According to the Centers For Disease Control And Protection (CDC), coronavirus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person — between people who are in close contact with one another (within about six feet), and through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

MANOWAR Films HELL & HEAVEN METAL FEST Concert For DVD/Blu-Ray Release

According to Summa Inferno, MANOWAR's concert this past Saturday night (March 14) at the Hell & Heaven Metal Fest in Mexico City was professionally recorded and filmed for a future DVD and Blu-ray release.

The band's setlist was as follows:

01. Manowar

02. Brothers Of Metal Pt. 1

03. Blood Of My Enemies

04. Call To Arms

05. Hand Of Doom

06. Sons Of Odin

07. Swords In The Wind

08. Bass Solo

09. Battle Hymn

10. Thor (The Powerhead)

11. Kings Of Metal

12. Fighting The World

13. Hail And Kill

14. House Of Death

15. King Of Kings

Encore:

16. Joey's Speech

17. Warriors Of The World

18. Black Wind, Fire And Steel

Back in May 2016, MANOWAR revealed that it would say "thank you", "farewell" and "goodbye" to its fans on a world tour that would be "bigger and beyond anything" the group had ever done. Calling the tour "The Final Battle", MANOWAR said that the fans who come to see the veteran metal act perform would "be left with an eternal memory; having witnessed the band that has dedicated their blood, hearts, souls and every moment of their career to true heavy metal."

Naturally, most fans assumed that MANOWAR would never play again after the completion of "The Final Battle", but bassist Joey DeMaio has since clarified that the band has every intention of continuing for years to come.

In an interview with Summa Inferno, conducted ahead of MANOWAR's appearance at the Hell & Heaven Metal Fest, DeMaio addressed the band's future activities, explaining that he and his bandmates have grand plans for the coming months.

"People had the wrong idea about 'The Final Battle' tour," he said. "When we announced the name of the tour, people immediately thought, 'Oh, no. They're gonna break up. They're gonna stop forever,' which, that was never the intention. The intention was for sure to take a break for some time because we're working on a big rock opera — and I mean musical rock opera; however you wanna look at it. But it's gonna be a big epic story. And so that takes time. We can't put that together like that. And the last EP, songs that were released, will be part of this massive big epic story. So when we announced that, there was a confusion and people thought, 'Oh, no.' But that's not the story. We're here in Mexico for the first time — but not the last time."

A year ago, the 65-year-old bassist said that he was "too young to retire" and blamed "some journalists" for "reinterpreting" MANOWAR's 2016 "farewell" tour announcement in order to "sell magazines." He told Bulgaria's Z Rock Radio: "Journalists make their money by what they write and photographers make their money by having a 'wow' picture. But I'm very protective over our fans, and when people write shit that ends up affecting and causing problems for our fans, I get mad."

In a 2017 interview with "Outdoor Adventures With Jayson", MANOWAR singer Eric Adams said that he would "miss the big stage" after the band completes its final tour. He said: "This is it. We've got one last tour coming up… But all good things have to come to an end at some point."

MANOWAR released a new EP, "The Final Battle I", in March 2019. At the time, the band said that parts II and III of the trilogy would arrive at a later date, inspired by MANOWAR's adventures on the remainder of "The Final Battle".

Grohl recently spoke to U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine about the band's upcoming follow-up to 2017's "Concrete And Gold", revealing that, "We just finished another fucking record, and I'm so fucking proud of it. It's unlike anything we've ever done.

"I'm fucking excited for people to hear it and I can't wait to jump on that fucking stage to play it," he continued. "There are choruses on this record that 50 fucking thousand people are gonna sing, and it's gonna bring everyone's fucking hearts together in that moment. And that's what it’s all about."

Grohl also reflected on FOO FIGHTERS' 25th anniversary of the band's self-titled 1995 debut, saying: "Honestly, it doesn't feel like we've been doing this for 25 fucking years. It's funny, some people measure time in days and months and years. But with me, I measure time in musical terms. When I think about 1995 to '96, that was one thing. When I think of '90 to '99, that's another, and so on. I see my life in these markers that are represented by our music. I feel like I've been writing this big story, and specific lyrics and songs relate to specific things that happened to me at those times."

Seven of FOO FIGHTERS' albums have landed in the Billboard top 10, including 2014's "Sonic Highways", which debuted and peaked at No. 2.

CROWN THE EMPIRE Guitarist Tests Positive For Coronavirus

CROWN THE EMPIRE guitarist Brandon Hoover says that he has tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus.

Hoover said he received his test results last night.

As of earlier today, the rocker feels "back to normal" and claims "most of the symptoms have passed," according a statement posted to Twitter.

Hoover, who isn't sure how he contracted the virus, says he has been told to self-quarantine for 14 days.

His full statement reads as follows:

"Welp...I tested positive for the Coronavirus. I've been told to self-quarantine for 14 days (or until further notice).

"I believe I contracted it through traveling to all these different countries over the past couple of months, but honestly who the fuck knows, it could of happened anywhere.

"About a week ago I started getting a sore throat, congestion, and was more tired than usual. Then all of a sudden I had severe body aches and a fever of 102 degrees. I was in bed for a couple of days sleeping in puddles of my own sweat. Honestly I thought I just had the flu! So I went to the emergency room and got tested for that as well as the Coronavirus and got my results back last night confirming that I have it.

"Currently I feel back to normal and most of the symptoms have passed. If anything changes I'll let y'all know.

"I advise everyone to keep yourselves informed, stay isolated, drink lots of water and wash your hands! I love you all. Please stay safe out there"

'Record Store Day' 2020 Moved To June

Record Store Day 2020, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 18, has been postponed in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Record Store Day organizers announced the postponement in a social media post earlier today. They wrote: "We've decided that the best of all possible moves is to change the date of Record Store Day this year to Saturday, June 20. We think this gives stores around the world the best chance to have a profitable, successful Record Store Day, while taking into consideration the recommendations of doctors, scientists, the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control, and the need to be good citizens of both local and worldwide communities.

"We're working with all of our partners and our stores to make this change as smooth as possible for everyone who participates in Record Store Day: customers, record stores, artists, labels and more. Record Store Day is everywhere and we want to hold our party when everyone can gather around safely to celebrate life, art, music and the culture of the indie record store."

Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1,400 independently owned record stores in the U.S. and thousands of similar stores internationally. The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008. Today there are Record Store Day participating stores on every continent except Antarctica.

A Record Store Day participating store is defined as a brick and mortar retailer whose main primary business focuses on full time, stand alone physical store locations, with a major commitment to music retail, and whose company is independently owned, and not publicly traded. (In other words, we're dealing with real, live, physical, indie record stores — not online retailers or corporate behemoths).

A list of titles available for Record Store Day 2020 can be found at this location.

Earlier today, Lifeson took to RUSH's official Twitter to write: "Just returned from Spring Break with my gKids. We are all self quarantining for 14 days. All travellers should. Looking forward to getting caught up on Netflix!! Send your top viewing suggestions. – Alex"

The province of Ontario, where Alex lives, currently has the largest number of COVID-19 cases in Canada. On Saturday, Ontario reported 24 new cases, the highest daily increase since the outbreak began, bringing the total number of cases to 103.

MÖTLEY CRÜE's NIKKI SIXX On Coronavirus Hysteria: 'Reach Out To People Around You Who Might Be Scared Or Need Help'

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx is the latest musician to stress the importance of international solidarity as we address the effects of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus.

There have been more than 124,000 confirmed cases and more than 4,600 deaths so far, putting public health systems and emergency services under immense pressure.

On Friday (March 13), Sixx took to his Instagram to share the following message: "Wouldn't it be great to see people stop self promoting right now and turn towards friends & family instead? Reach out to people around you who might be scared or need help. Also,do we really need more fear mongering? The news is doing a great job at that already...Maybe find a way to dampen down the hysteria."

On Wednesday (March 11), the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic, with director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warning that he was "deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of spread and severity, and by the alarming levels of inaction" by the authorities.

The WHO said a vast majority of coronavirus patients recover: those with mild illnesses in two weeks, while those with more severe symptoms may require three to six weeks.

In the U.S., the number of known coronavirus cases has reached at least 2,100, with some modeling studies suggesting the U.S. — if its residents don't take preventive measures — will have more than 8,000 cases by next week, 40,000 cases in two weeks, and nearly 150,000 cases by the end of the month.

HALESTORM Frontwoman LZZY HALE's Coronavirus Advice Includes Listening To 'A Lot' Of Rock Music

HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale has offered advice on how to deal with the coronavirus outbreak — which has so far infected more than 125,000 people and killed nearly 5,000 worldwide.

Lzzy took to her Instagram account earlier today to write: "Remember to wash ur mits, adopt the pornstar handshake (elbow bumps) and practice social distancing. Stay away from large gatherings and only go out when necessary. If you must go out, shop small and local. Stock up on frozen foods. Above all, stay positive, stay connected, stay informed, stay vicious. And listen to a LOT of ROCK music."

Officials have made it clear that the elderly — especially those with heart, lung and immunological conditions — are particularly vulnerable to the coronavirus, with at least 25 deaths linked to one nursing home in Washington. In Italy, which has one of the oldest populations in the world, of the first 105 patients who died from the virus, the average age was 81, and many of the deceased had preexisting health conditions.

There is no known cure yet for the flu-like virus, which originated in China.

STRYPER's MICHAEL SWEET Urges People To Be 'Respectful,' 'Loving' And 'Compassionate' Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet has urged everyone to be respectful, loving and compassionate as governments around the world struggle to contain the coronavirus pandemic.

A Massachusetts resident, Sweet took to his Instagram earlier today (Saturday, March 13) to share a photo he apparently took at his local supermarket, and he included the following message: "I went out yesterday to buy a few things and I was shocked to see empty shelves and what felt like the end of the world. I tried to buy some soup and there wasn't much left. Thermometers, toilet paper, pain meds, cleaned out! I felt bad for all the other people who were there looking for these items and unfortunately couldn't find what they needed due to hoarding and greed.

"I really believe that we're going to get through this and that we're going to be okay. If we're educated and take proper precautions we will overcome. It's important for us to think of others in all the turmoil and not just think of ourselves. Stay smart, stay calm, be respectful, be loving, be compassionate, be faithful, stay positive. We will persevere."

Michael also included a Bible verse, Isaiah 41:10: "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Grocery store chains around the globe have experienced a rush in the past week thanks to the coronavirus outbreak, with an onslaught of shoppers stripping the shelves of some items.

An openly Christian act, STRYPER's name comes from Isaiah 53:5, which states: "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

STRYPER's albums include "To Hell With The Devil", "Second Coming", "No More Hell To Pay", "Fallen" and the band's latest effort, "God Damn Evil".

LINKIN PARK's MIKE SHINODA Pokes Fun At Coronavirus Panic Buying

LINKIN PARK's Mike Shinoda has poked fun at panic buyers who are snatching up food and cleaning supplies in bulk amid the outbreak of coronavirus.

Grocery store chains around the globe have experienced a rush in the past week thanks to the pandemic, with an onslaught of shoppers stripping the shelves of some items.

Earlier today, Mike took to his Twitter to share a message he received from his wife, Anna Shinoda. He wrote: "HA...from the store, @AnnaShinoda said people are 'not Mushroom Soup Desperate.'" He then asked his one million Twitter followers: "What other stuff are people NOT stockpiling?"

MÖTLEY CRÜE's TOMMY LEE Will Use Coronavirus Downtime To Hit The Studio And 'Create'

MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee says that he will use the coronavirus downtime to "get locked down" in his studio and "create."

Public health experts are urging people to practice "social distancing" and stay home in order to protect their health and slow the rate of transmission of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus.

Earlier today (Saturday, March 14), Lee took to his Twitter to write: "Lookin like a perfect time to get locked down in my studio and create!!!!!!"

Before MÖTLEY CRÜE's reunion was announced last fall, Lee told Billboard that he spent two years working on his upcoming solo album, which he described at the time as "very eclectic." He added that the disc will include "literally every single different genre that you could imagine. That's why I want to call it 'Trans Genres' because it's literally all over the place, which I love," he said. "It's my favorite thing. I love swishing it up from track to track. But this is literally a whole side of one kind of eclectic thing and one side of the other kind of eclectic thing. I like records like that. I don't like records that sound like it's pretty much the same thing."

According to Lee, the LP will include a "slowed-down" and "insane" cover of Prince's "When You Were Mine" as well as guest appearances by South African rapper Push Push, PLYA singer Julia, a singer called Ellie, rap battlist Shotty Horroh, former ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA frontman Lukas Rossi and U.K. hip-hop/dubstep group FOREIGN BEGGARS.

Lee's METHODS OF MAYHEM rap-rock side project released its self-titled debut album in 1999 and was certified gold in the U.S. A follow-up effort, "A Public Disservice Announcement", came out 11 years later.

Lee's last solo LP was 2005's "Tommyland: The Ride". He also collaborated with METHODS OF MAYHEM's DJ Aero on the "#MSND" EP, which was released in 2013.

MÖTLEY CRÜE's "The Stadium Tour" with DEF LEPPARD, POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS will kick off on June 18 in Jacksonville, Florida. It will mark CRÜE's first live dates since wrapping its 2014/2015 farewell tour. The band toured with POISON back in 2011 and DEF LEPPARD teamed up with POISON for a string of road dates in 2017 — but the upcoming jaunt marks the first time all four acts have hit the road together for an extended tour.

Former NIGHTWISH Singer ANETTE OLZON: 'We Are Facing The Hardest Times Since I Was Born'

Former NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon is the latest musician to stress the importance of international solidarity as we address the effects of the coronavirus COVID-19.

On Friday (March 13), Olzon took to her Facebook page to share the following message: "It's time for prayers, for really taking the seriousness of corona and understand that we are facing the hardest times since I was born. It's not the time to go to work being ill as many normally do, or send your ill children to school being ill either. Travels and going out to events have to be done when this has passed and we don't know when. Think of the elderly, the ones with underlying diseases and also people in my age who may be more at risk to get pneumonia's and organic failure due to the virus. I've been at home since Tuesday when I suddenly got a fever and a cough and I'm still at home. They don't test us here so the only thing to do is stay at home if we're feeling ill. Be safe, be wise and wash your hands."

There is no known cure yet for the flu-like virus, which originated in China.

MAGNUM TOUR UPDATE 2020.

“It is with a heavy heart that we must finally concede to the inevitable.

A combination of government measures in numerous countries, and liaising with promoters and our co-headliners Gotthard has meant that ultimately the decision has been taken out of our hands.

The Serpent Rings Tour will be postponed until later this year and early next. Dates will be announced as soon as possible.

Those with tickets will be entitled to a refund or to attend rescheduled shows - information on this will be given as soon as we know more.

We're very sorry to all the loyal fans who were looking forward to coming to see us. But even more than this we are sorry for those who will feel the financial impact of this for months and even years to come. Our friends, the crew, who now have empty diaries and no immediate prospect of new shows of any kind. Our support acts, promoters, venue staff, security, bar staff and the touring industry as a whole - all of whom face exceptionally hard times now.

It was never our intent to cause anger and hurt with our previous defiance. With so much already paid for, contracts all in place and the band all rehearsed and ready to go we had very little choice but to try and carry on despite mounting pressure. We really wanted to play more than you can imagine. We held on as long as we could.

Good luck to everyone in these troubled times. We'll see you on the other side...

Bob, Tony, Rick, Lee, Dennis and all the Magnum team”

IMONOLITH Featuring DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, THREAT SIGNAL Members Cancel First Ever European Tour

Imonolith, the new metal powerhouse featuring drummer Ryan ‘RVP’ Van Poederooyen (Devin Townsend Project), guitarist Brian ‘Beav’ Wadell (Devin Townsend Project), Jon Howard (Threat Signal), guitarist Kai Huppunen (Methods Of Mayhem, Noise Therapy) and Scott Whalen (Econoline Crush), will release of their debut album, State Of Being, on March 27 via Imonolith Music. They were due to kick off their first ever UK / European tour on the same day, but have been forced to cancel due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Check out Imonolith's new song "Becoming The Enemy" featuring Avatar's Johannes Eckerström below.

A video for the album's third single, "Dig", can be seen below. “Dig” happens to be one of the band’s favourite songs on the album. It has a hypnotic pulse throughout, crushing guitar riffs and some well delivered heavy vocals from Jon Howard.

“Lyrically, the song is about people who ruin their relationships with others through their poor decisions,” says drummer Ryan ‘RVP’ Van Poederooyen. “The point, lyrically, is that you can move on from this type of person, learn a lesson from the situation, let go of the negativity involved and let them deal with the shit show they’ve created. In the end, these people dig their own ‘relationship' graves by burning bridges with others in their lives.”

Pre-order/pre-save the new album here.

State of Being features 10 hook-laden, riff-heavy tracks including “Hollow,” the debut single that made big waves for Imonolith straight out of the gate, racking up 216K Spotify streams in 2019. There are also two very special guest performances from Jens Kidman (Meshuggah) and Swedish vocalist Johannes Eckerström.

Having spent much of 2019 writing, arranging, recording and fine-tuning State of Being, the band worked incredibly hard to achieve their goal - to make an engaging heavy metal album. RVP commented, “We spent a lot of time making this record. We wanted it to be done the way we envisioned it. We didn’t cut any corners, from the song writing right up to the album production and artwork. It’s a debut album that we’re very proud of and excited for the world to hear.”

The high production video to “Instinct” is not only a great example of the band’s quality aesthetic, but it also serves as a look at Imonolith's collective personality. RVP continues, “I think we raised the bar with the ‘Instinct’ video. It’s a different kind of video that’ll catch you off guard in a few ways. It can also be interpreted differently depending on the viewer. We put a lot of thought into it and hired great visionary people to make it a fun watch.’’

SEPULTURA Postpones North American Tour

Brazilian/American metallers SEPULTURA have been forced to postpone their spring 2020 North American tour in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The trek was scheduled to kick off on March 18 in San Diego, California and conclude on April 22 in Ventura, California. Support on the tour was supposed to come from SACRED REICH, CROWBAR and ART OF SHOCK.

SEPULTURA announced the tour postponement in a statement on social media earlier today (Friday, March 13). The band wrote: "Sepulnation, due to the development of the Coronavirus situation, we have been forced to postpone our North America tour until the fall. Rescheduled dates will be announced soon, stay tuned. Thank you for your understanding and listen to 'Quadra'!"

SEPULTURA's latest album, "Quadra", was released on February 7 via Nuclear Blast Records. It is a concept effort created at Sweden's Fascination Street Studios with renowned producer Jens Bogren.

SEPULTURA comprises vocalist Derrick Green, guitarist Andreas Kisser, bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr., and drummer Eloy Casagrande.

SEPULTURA was formed in Belo Horizonte by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, who are no longer with the band.

"Quadra" is the follow-up to 2017's "Machine Messiah", which was SEPULTURA's fourteenth studio album and the eighth since Green joined the ranks.

VENOM INC. Begins Recording New Album

VENOM INC., the band featuring original VENOM guitarist Jeff "Mantas" Dunn (guitar) and ex-VENOM bassist/vocalist Tony "Demolition Man" Dolan, has entered the studio to record its new album. The follow-up to 2017's "Avé" will once again be released on Nuclear Blast Records. The recording is being done between England, Portugal and America and it will have Dunn at the helm as producer once again.

The new album marks the second recording under the name VENOM INC., while Dunn and Dolan have a long history as recording artists together in VENOM, M:PIRE OF EVIL and Mantas solo projects. It also marks the VENOM INC. recording debut of drummer Jeramie Kling (also of MASSACRE), who joined the band in 2018.

Dolan states: "I am a firm believer that you try to better yourself in life, not by comparison to anyone else but to yourself. Making a new album, proudly under a label like Nuclear Blast, gives me that opportunity again. If 'Avé' was a great album, then this new one needs to be even greater… if the performances on 'Avé' were the best we could be then, it will follow that we will outdo ourselves and be better than we were… We don't care how good or bad anyone else is… we are here to challenge ourselves. With the three of us in total synchronization and firing every cylinder we each have, expect something, intense, powerful, dark, spitting, visceral, foreboding, and no holds barred… heavy as a fucking world made from lead! Feel the fire, hear us roar… for we are VENOM INC.!"

Dunn adds: "I have always maintained that I am a man of few words, I let the music do the talking and this motherfucker is speaking volumes and has not stopped to draw breath. Furious, aggressive, relentless, vicious, culled from experience and hatred and with the personnel to deliver it, this makes no excuses for what it is… heavy fucking metal!"

Kling says: "For the new VENOM INC. album, I have tried a new technique. I have started by completely dismantling my drums and replacing the usual drum kit with rockets bought in hell... and the rest of the kit, you ask?!? Well, that's been replaced by flame throwers, gun powder and a tank gun!!! And I'm driving it all like a fucking warmachine straight at you! Nothing is safe and nothing will survive!!"

Back in 2018, VENOM INC. recruited Kling to fill in for drummer Anthony "Abaddon" Bray on a European tour while Abaddon stayed home to spend time with his newborn daughter. VENOM INC. has since completed several tours with Kling without making any official announcements about Bray's possible return to the group.

Dunn, Bray and Dolan released three albums as VENOM between 1989 and 1992 — "Prime Evil" (1989), "Temples Of Ice" (1991) and "The Waste Lands" (1992).

VENOM INC. is not to be confused with the Conrad "Cronos" Lant-fronted version of VENOM, which is continuing to tour and make albums under the VENOM moniker. Joining Cronos in that group are Rage (a.k.a. Stuart Dixon) on guitar and Danté (a.k.a. Danny Needham) on drums.

EPICA Begins Recording New Album

Dutch symphonic metallers EPICA have entered Sandlane Recording Facilities in Rijen, Netherlands with producer Joost Van Den Broek to record their new album. The follow-up to 2016's "The Holographic Principle" is once again being produced by Joost Van Den Broek (POWERWOLF, AYREON).

The recording sessions for EPICA's new disc are being filmed by Panda Productions, which has shared the first studio vlog via the band's YouTube channel.

Singer Simone Simons comments: "Welcome to the behind the scenes of the making of EPICA 8. In this first video, we are working hard on the pre-production of our new album, making sure all details are perfect. It was, like always, a pleasure to spend time with the band and Joost. I am so happy with how to songs evolved and can't wait for you all to hear them!"

In support of the new album, EPICA will comprehensively tour Europe during the "Epic Apocalypse" co-headline tour with APOCALYPTICA and support act WHEEL.

Last October, EPICA guitarist Mark Jansen told That Drummer Guy that there was a simple explanation for why the band has taken this long to begin work on new material.

"It's three years ago that 'The Holographic Principle' got released, so by the time the new album gets released, yeah, that must be about four years," he said. "It's longer than usual, but in the meantime, we also released an EP, and a second EP, and also this ['Design Your Universe'] re-release, and also a book — we worked on a book. So there's a lot of stuff still that happened in the meantime. But if you just take a look at the albums, then it's longer than it usually has been. So I think the fans are really eager to hear new material. And as eager are we about writing the stuff.

"When I started writing myself, I felt really a big motivation again to write a new album," he continued. "And that's exactly what we needed. We didn't want to start writing an album at the point that we felt like we just had to write an album. We only want to write an album when we really feel hungry to write an album. And that's the case now… It has to be one hundred percent or nothing; there's nothing in between. I wouldn't be happy with an album that has just a few good songs and the rest are fillers. I would feel ashamed about it. There's no one that's gonna be happy about such an album. It has to be as good as we can get it."

Lat fall, EPICA celebrated the 10th anniversary of its milestone album "Design Your Universe". To mark this special occasion, EPICA re-released this fan-favorite LP as a "gold edition" on October 4 through Nuclear Blast. This edition contains the album remixed and remastered by Joost Van Den Broek with updated artwork and a second disc containing newly recorded acoustic versions of "Design Your Universe" songs.

November 2019 saw the release of "The Essence Of Epica", a lavishly designed and fully illustrated, high-quality hardback which tells the story of EPICA in bandmembers' own words. The book is available in two distinct editions: the Classic is a 208-page, hardback with foil detailing, filled with over 200 images; the Signature hardback is signed by the band and comes in a deluxe clamshell box with three exclusive, original art prints created by Stefan Heilemann.
