LAMB OF GOD's 'State Of Unrest' European Tour With KREATOR Has Been Postponed
LAMB OF GOD's previously announced "State Of Unrest" European tour with KREATOR and POWER TRIP has been postponed in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The trek was scheduled to kick off on March 27 in Stockholm, Sweden and conclude on April 25 in London, England.
LAMB OF GOD announced the tour postponement in a social media post earlier today. The group wrote: "Unfortunately, our upcoming European/UK tour will be postponed due to the various bans on public gatherings and travel restrictions. We also wouldn't want to put fans, crew or bands in danger or risk further spread of the virus. We're actively working to reschedule the tour with KREATOR and POWER TRIP and will be announcing the rescheduled dates as soon as possible. Hold on to your ticket for the rescheduled dates. We look forward to returning to europe in the near future."
LAMB OF GOD's new, self-titled album will be released on May 8 via Epic Records in the U.S. and Nuclear Blast Records in Europe. The follow-up to "VII: Sturm Und Drang" marks LAMB OF GOD's first recordings with Art Cruz, who joined the band last July as the replacement for the group's founding drummer, Chris Adler.
KREATOR played its first show with the band's new bass player, Frédéric Leclercq, last October in Santiago, Chile.
Before joining KREATOR, Leclercq rose to fame with U.K.-based extreme power metallers DRAGONFORCE for whom he handled bass duties from 2005 until last August.
KREATOR released its most recent album, "Gods Of Violence", in early 2017.

CARCASS: Australian Tour Canceled
British extreme metal pioneers CARCASS have been forced to cancel their previously tour of Australia in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The promoter of the tour, Soundworks Touring, has issued the following statement regarding the matter: "Due to the very unfortunate circumstances surrounding the Download Festival cancellation and now the newly enforced government regulations, Soundworks Touring regrets to inform the public that all appearances on the scheduled CARCASS Australian tour have been cancelled.
"This has been an incredibly difficult decision to make, but one we now have no choice in.
"Ticket purchasers will receive a refund via point of purchase. We urge everyone to please be patient during the refund process. We sincerely apologise for all disappointment and inconvenience caused by these decisions made.
"We are 100% committed to rescheduling a headlining CARCASS tour to a later time frame when world health concerns settle."
Canceled tour dates:
March 20 - Melbourne, Download Festival
March 21 - Sydney, Download Festival
March 24 - Hobart, Altar
March 25 - Brisbane, The Triffid
March 26 - Adelaide, Lion Arts Factory
March 28 - Perth, Slayfest
CARCASS has set "Torn Arteries" as the title of its new album, due on August 7 via Nuclear Blast. According to guitarist Bill Steer, the name of the new CARCASS LP stems from a demo tape that the band's founding drummer Ken Owen recorded when he was still a teenager. "He had a fictitious band called TORN ARTERIES and he recorded everything himself in his bedroom — guitar, and he'd actually bang on boxes and kind of scream into the mic," Bill explained to Australia's Heavy. "And the whole thing was so distorted, it kind of sounded super heavy, even though essentially you were listening to a guy with a Spanish guitar and a couple of boxes. I think Jeff [Walker, CARCASS bassist/vocalist] appreciates the connection to the past and the fact that it was another Ken Owen classic. So that was his choice, really, and it stuck."
Steer went on to say that the "Torn Arteries" title is an homage of sorts to Owen, who suffered a brain hemorrhage in 1999 and hasn't actively played with CARCASS for more than two decades.
"I can't remember when this came up, but we were doing some press conference at a festival, and I think we all kind of agreed that even though Ken isn't playing in the band as such right now, he's kind of involved in everything we do, stylistically, because when he was so unique — when he was playing drums, his approach was just totally different," Steer said. "Also, the riffs he came up with, they were just really far out there. They were loads of fun to learn. I still think, as a guitar player, some of the stuff was very unorthodox and it was quite a challenge. That kind of influence still runs through what we do today. Just as a friendship thing, we're all still in touch regularly, and it's just been great to see Ken's life stabilizing. Basically, he has a good standard of living and he's a happy guy."

SOILWORK Releases New Single, 'Desperado'
Swedish metallers SOILWORK have released a brand new song called "Desperado". It is the second installment in SOILWORK's "Feverish" triology, which might also eventually end up becoming a so far unknown entity.
Commented the band: "'Desperado', just like 'Feverish', is a song about how a single emotion can overtake your entire being, and consume you like an almost sentient force. 'Desperado' is about what lies behind and beyond, the places you normally avoid. But they will always be there. 'Desperado' is shock rock and metal mayhem for those of us who long for a way out."
"Desperado" was written and composed by David Andersson. It was recorded at SolnaSound Recordings in Stockholm with Simon Johansson and The Panic Room, Skövde with Thomas Plec Johansson. Violin was recorded by Rachel Hall. "Desperado" was produced by SOILWORK and Thomas Plec Johansson and mixed and mastered by Thomas Plec Johansson. René U Valdes produced and directed the music video.
At the time of the "Feverish" release, it was announced that SOILWORK would issue "The Feverish Trinity" over the coming months, a trilogy of songs with accompanying videos that, according to the band, would "celebrate the Babylonian Death Goddesses that once made the world a more Feverish and exciting place."
SOILWORK's eleventh studio album, "Verkligheten", was released in January 2019 via Nuclear Blast. The first-edition digipack, as well as the vinyl versions, also contained the exclusive "Underworld" EP, containing four more songs. The digipack version also featured special artwork with lavish foil print.
"Verkligheten" was SOILWORK's first to feature drummer Bastian Thusgaard, who replaced Dirk Verbeuren in 2016.

AEG Joins LIVE NATION In Suspending Touring As Coronavirus Spreads
AEG, one of the North America's largest concert promoters, has aligned with its competitor Live Nation in instructing its touring shows to prepare to return home in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
In a joint statement, obtained by Rolling Stone, executives from Live Nation, AEG, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), William Morris Endeavor (WME), Paradigm and United Talent Agency (UTA) said they are working together to develop best practices to safeguard artists, fans and staff in the concert industry.
"The world's leading forces in live entertainment have come together to form a global task force to drive strategic support and unified direction ensuring precautionary efforts and ongoing protocol are in the best interest of artists, fans, staff, and the global community," the coalition said in a joint statement. "At this time, we collectively recommend large scale events through the end of March be postponed.
"We continue to support that small-scale events follow guidance set by their local government officials. We feel fortunate to have the flexibility to reschedule concerts, festivals, and live events as needed, and look forward to connecting fans with all their favorite artists and live entertainment soon."
According to the Los Angeles Business Journal, Live Nation generated $1.1 billion in tickets sold for shows featuring the company's talent that played between November 2018 and May 2019. During the same time period, AEG reported $343 million in ticket sales, a figure that did not include the $144 million generated from AEG's corporate partner, Messina Touring Group.
The World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared the spread of the new coronavirus, which began in China in late December, a pandemic on Wednesday (March 11). More than 130,000 cases have been reported worldwide — including more than 1,500 in the U.S.
According to the Centers For Disease Control And Protection (CDC), coronavirus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person — between people who are in close contact with one another (within about six feet), and through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
The agency is recommending that people avoid "close contact" with anyone showing flu-like symptoms.

MACHINE HEAD Postpones Second European Leg Of 'Burn My Eyes' 25th-Anniversary Tour Over Coronavirus Concerns
MACHINE HEAD has postponed the second European leg of its 25th-anniversary tour for the band's classic debut album, "Burn My Eyes", due to a fast-spreading outbreak of the new coronavirus.
The second run of dates was scheduled to kick off in Zaragoza, Spain on April 19, continuing across Portugal, Eastern Europe, Russia, Scandinavia, wrapping in the U.K. with a Birgmingham show at the Academy on June 6.
MACHINE HEAD announced the tour postponement in a social media message earlier today. The group wrote: "It is with heavy heart that we must announce the postponement of our upcoming EU/UK tour in support of the 25th anniversary of 'Burn My Eyes'.
"As residents of the Bay Area, we've been hit hard and have witnessed firsthand what has been going on. Public gatherings of more than 1000 have been banned in San Jose, and events in downtown San Francisco including major concerts and conferences have been shut down.
"We have been watching the situation overseas on a daily basis, in contact with all promoters, and local governments for the status of our concert there. As of a week ago, we had 6 concert cancelled until the 2nd week of April, due the banning of public gathering over 1,000 people (or in some cases 100 people). Even at that point, we still held out hope that things would be contained, and that the public gathering ordinances would be lifted but the time our tour started.
"As of today, we now have 14 shows cancelled until the first week of April, with 7 of them cancelled indefinitely. And it appears as of an hour ago, another 3 have been cancelled.
"15 minutes ago the World Health Organization just declared the Coronavirus a pandemic.
"Of paramount importance to us is the heath and safety of the Head Cases. We've worked hard with all our management, booking agents, and business associates to find other solutions or options, but the levels of risk to our audience and their communities is simply too high for our comfort level. In addition to that, we also have a unique group of extraordinarily passionate fans who travel from all over the continent to watch our shows. We are eternally humbled by the dedication and devotion of the Head Cases, however in this case, travel is something not recommended.
"So it is with deep frustration and regret that we are forced to make this announcements. The 'Burn My Eyes' 25th anniversary tour is to be postponed and shows rescheduled for a later date, hopefully in the Fall, but possibly later.
"We look forward to our next concerts with you all, and the ability to publicly gather together and play raging heavy metal for you and vent all of our collective frustration, as a result of this insane moment in history, out in the circle pit.
"Stay safe, stay calm, and be well friends."
COVID-19 is the infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus.
This new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China in December 2019.
The virus has infected more than 115,800 people — including at least 1,000 in the U.S. — and killed more than 4,200 worldwide, according to CNN.
A number of acts have canceled or postponed tours globally due to the ongoing outbreak, including PEARL JAM, SLIPKNOT, SONS OF APOLLO, LACUNA COIL and TRIVIUM.
Until this past week, the virus had mainly impacted the live scene in Europe and Asia. But with rising infection and death counts in the United States, the American industry has begun to see the effects, with the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival postponed and South By Southwest canceled.

YES Cancels Spring U.S. Tour, Appearance On 2020 'Cruise To The Edge'
YES has canceled a handful of shows in the U.S., in addition to an appearance on this year's Cruise To The Edge, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The progressive rock legends were scheduled to play several shows in the southeast United States this month alongside the ALAN PARSONS LIVE PROJECT. Those dates were supposed to be followed by YES's participation in the seventh annual Cruise To The Edge.
Earlier today, guitarist Steve Howe said in a statement: "Although YES performs with the spirit that 'the show must go on,' we've reached the point where various factors require us to cancel our forthcoming U.S. dates and cancel our appearances on the 7th Cruise To The Edge. We are full of regret, as we've been preparing for these shows with maximum excitement.
"Running a relatively large show aided by our 12-piece crew and full production requires insurance coverage, which is currently unavailable to us for a variety of reasons beyond our control. Mostly, we always hope to deliver a great show, creating a good experience for music fans and bringing joy to all. It's become impossible to predict what will happen in the near future, but we look forward to seeing you all very soon."
Added drummer Alan White: "Much to our disappointment but with an abundance of consideration and caution, YES has cancelled its performances in the Southeast this spring and withdrawn from the shows on Cruise To The Edge for reasons beyond our control. We will genuinely miss our fans/friends who have accompanied us for years on these fun excursions. Gigi [Alan's wife] and I have very close personal friends and family members who booked to join us for this trip so we are all extremely disappointed. It is unfortunate timing for everyone. We sincerely hope that all involved will realize the last thing the band ever wants to do is to let down their audiences. We believe it is a prudent decision based on many variables and external factors."
Despite YES's absence, Cruise To The Edge will still take place as scheduled. "On behalf of all of our artists and crew, we wish [YES] the best and will miss them," the cruise organizers said in an e-mail. "However, the show will go on, including some new special performance announcements! See you aboard!!"
YES's canceled shows include dates in North Charleston, South Carolina (March 19); in Clearwater, Florida (March 22); in Jacksonville, Florida (March 24); and in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (March 25).
Cruise To The Edge will run from March 27 through April 1. Still scheduled to appear are Steve Hackett, MARILLION, SAGA and Steve Lukather's side project NERVE BUNDLE.
YES has confirmed that they regretfully are cancelling a handful of shows and will not be performing on this year’s “ @cruisetotheedge.”

THE WHO Postpones Tour Of U.K. And Ireland Over Coronavirus Concerns
Legendary rockers THE WHO have postponed their U.K. and Ireland tour, which was scheduled to start next Monday, March 16 in Manchester at the Manchester Arena and conclude at Wembley SSE Arena on April 8. The fans' safety is paramount, and given the developing coronavirus situation, the band felt that it had no option but to call off the shows. The dates will be rescheduled for later in the year. All tickets will be honored.
Singer Roger Daltrey assures fans that the shows will "definitely happen and it may be the last time we do a tour of this type, so keep those tickets, as the shows will be fantastic."
Guitarist Pete Townshend says he and his bandmates "haven't reached this decision easily, but given the concerns about public gatherings, we couldn't go ahead." He added that "if one fan caught coronavirus at a WHO concert, it would be one too many."
Unfortunately, THE WHO will also be unable to appear at the Royal Albert Hall on March 28 as part of the annual Teenage Cancer Trust shows, but intends to reschedule that show also, with more news to follow.
The World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared the spread of the new coronavirus, which began in China in late December, a pandemic on Wednesday (March 11). More than 115,000 cases have been reported worldwide — including more than 1,000 in the U.S.
A number of acts have canceled or postponed tours globally due to the ongoing outbreak, including PEARL JAM, GREEN DAY, SLIPKNOT, TRIVIUM and others, while festivals such as South By Southwest and Coachella have been called off or moved to later in the year.
After serious consideration, it is with much regret that THE WHO have postponed their UK and Ireland Tour, due to start...

FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE's North American Tour Postponed Over Coronavirus Concerns
In an unfortunate turn of events, Italian orchestral-death metal giants FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE have been forced to postpone their North American tour due to travel restrictions implemented in response to the spread of new coronavirus (COVID-19). What was to be one of metal's most anticipated spring tours, where the band was to be accompanied at shows by a classical string quartet for the first time ever, will now take place at a later date to be announced as plans are confirmed. Information regarding tickets will be made public soon.
FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE said in a statement: "Hello everyone, it is with heavy hearts that we must announce the postponement of our upcoming tour in North America with the Veleno String Quartet and THE AGONIST. This has been decided upon due to current entry restrictions in the United States, following recent cases of coronavirus in Italy.
"We're absolutely devastated about the delay, but we're already working to reschedule the tour for late summer/early fall (exact dates coming soon).
"We know that there are so many people waiting for us in the U.S. and Canada and we can't wait to see you. We'll keep you updated as shows are being rebooked, after which the show tickets and VIP tickets will be honored. So please stay tuned for further developments.
"To the many of you asking how you can help support during this time, merch purchases always help and will be used to get us back up to speed and on the road. You can check out our store here.
"Thank you guys so much for the immense support. We'll see you on the road, sooner than you think!"
FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE's latest album "Veleno", was released last May via Nuclear Blast Records.
Italian for "venom," "Veleno" marked FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE's first record in three years, since the release of the band's critically acclaimed record "King" (2016). The "metal part" of "Veleno" was recorded in Rome, Italy at Bloom Recording Studio and Kick Studio with long-standing collaborator Marco Mastrobuono, while the "orchestral part" — the ensembles — were tracked at Musica Teclas Studio in Perugia. FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE then took the effort over to Grammy-nominated Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, EPICA) at Hansen Studios in Denmark for mixing and mastering. The entire production of "Veleno" took, according to Paoli, about three months. Artwork for the album was created by Travis Smith (AVENGED SEVENFOLD, OPETH, KATATONIA).

KING DIAMOND Undergoes Surgery, Pulls Out Of Mexico's HELL & HEAVEN METAL FEST
KING DIAMOND has been forced to cancel its scheduled appearance at the Hell & Heaven Metal Fest on March 15 in Mexico City.
The band's namesake frontman announced the cancelation in a social media post earlier today. He wrote: "I was recently advised by my doctor to have surgery done for an issue, which, if not done right away, would have prevented me from flying. We did not expect to have any complications after the surgery, but my healing is slower than anticipated, and I've been advised to 'forego air travel until his healing stabilizes and additional risks are minimized.' Unfortunately and regretfully, this means that we cannot make it this weekend to play at the Hell & Heaven [Metal Fest]. we love playing in Mexico and can't wait to get a chance to make this up to you. Til then, stay heavy."
King, who has lived in suburban Dallas, Texas for more than two decades, told Metal Hammer in 2016 that he has "become a lot healthier" since he underwent open-heart triple-bypass surgery in 2010. He said: "I gave up smoking after my heart scare, my wife keeps me on a strict diet that I follow completely, and doctors are amazed at how healthy I am these days. Honestly, I think I am now healthier than I have ever been."
The singer, whose real name is Kim Bendix Petersen, continued: "I've also found that, since I made a real effort to have a healthy lifestyle, my voice has improved so much. I can now hit notes that were a struggle for me when I was younger. As for my sex life, that's just great now. And I am not saying that because my wife is sitting next to me!"

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE Postpones Japanese Tour Dates
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE has canceled its previously announced tour of Japan, including a headlining appearance at Download Festival Japan.
"The promoter of our Japan shows suggested that we postpone the shows in Japan for the safety of the public, and we are heeding that advice," the band said in a statement. "We had very much hoped to have alternate dates confirmed before we announced the postponement, to make sure our fans knew we had every intention of coming back. Somehow, word got out before we could do that. However, please know we are working on rescheduling shows and will try to announce those soon. We are terribly sad to postpone, and even more distressed about what is happening the world over. Take good care and we hope to see you all as soon as possible. Please be good to each other."
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE is still set to headline Download Festival Australia, which is scheduled to take place March 20-21 in Melbourne and Sydney.
The band played its first concert in seven years on December 20 in Los Angeles.
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE broke up in 2013, three years after the release of its fourth studio album, "Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys". Since then, vocalist Gerard Way released his debut solo album, 2014's "Hesitant Alien", and several standalone singles. He also saw his award-winning comic book "The Umbrella Academy" adapted into a Netflix series. In November, it was revealed that Way would be scoring Kevin Smith's upcoming "Clerks" sequel.
Way's bandmates also pursued various solo projects. Guitarist Frank Iero released a pair of solo albums, and bassist Mikey Way formed a group called ELECTRIC CENTURY. Guitarist Ray Toro briefly toured with a project called REGGIE AND THE FULL EFFECT, and released a solo recording in tribute to a transgender teen who committed suicide.
Reunion rumors first arose in 2016, when the group posted a cryptic video on social media. It turned out to be for a 10th anniversary reissue of the band's 2006 album "The Black Parade". The band stated at the time, "We are not touring and there is no reunion planned."
This past January, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE announced a summer/fall U.S. tour. The trek will kick off on September 9 in Detroit, Michigan and end on October 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The tour includes a headlining appearance at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California. They will also perform at Chicago's Riot Fest.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Postpones U.S. Shows Due To Coronavirus
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE has postponed the first leg of its previously announced reunion tour in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
"Due to the current outbreak and ban on public gatherings, we are postponing the first part of our tour (March 26th – May 20th) with RUN THE JEWELS," the group said in a statemrnt. "The safety and health of those who come to our shows is of the utmost importance to us."
The reunited quartet — Zack De La Rocha, Tom Morello, Brad Wilk and Tim Commferford — was supposed to play its first shows back together later this month at several cities along or near the Mexican border, including El Paso; Las Cruses, New Mexico; and Phoenix, Arizona. Instead, they will now launch the trek on May 23 at Boston Calling.
All previously purchased tickets will be honored at the rescheduled dates, which will be announced soon.
The upcoming tour will mark the first time RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE has hit the road together since 2011.
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE last played together in 2011 at L.A. Rising and has resisted calls for a reunion, with vocalist Zach De La Rocha previously believed to be the lone holdout. Guitarist Tom Morello and his fellow RAGE bandmates Commerford (bass) and Wilk (drums) have since teamed up with PUBLIC ENEMY's Chuck D. and CYPRESS HILL's B-Real in the similarly styled PROPHETS OF RAGE.
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE recorded three original studio albums and one set of covers before breaking up in 2000. The group reformed in 2007 but only played sporadic gigs and never a full tour.

STYX Postpones Shows Over Coronavirus Concerns
In the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, STYX has postponed around a dozen shows that were scheduled to take place between March 13 and March 28. The new dates will be announced soon.
STYX announced the postponement in a social media post earlier today. The group wrote: "Due to the current health concerns, the STYX concerts starting on March 13th through March 28th are postponed. Dates are currently being rescheduled. Please stay tuned for an update. We are grateful for your continued support."
A number of acts have canceled or postponed tours globally due to the ongoing outbreak, including PEARL JAM, SLIPKNOT, MACHINE HEAD, YES, SONS OF APOLLO, LACUNA COIL and TRIVIUM.
Until this past week, the virus had mainly impacted the live scene in Europe and Asia. But with rising infection and death counts in the United States, the American industry has begun to see the effects, with the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival postponed and South By Southwest canceled.
COVID-19 is the infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus.
This new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China in December 2019.
The virus has infected more than 135,000 people — including at least 1,500 in the U.S.

ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME Induction Ceremony Postponed Over Coronavirus Concerns
This year's edition of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony, which was scheduled to take place May 2 at Cleveland, Ohio's Public Hall, has been postponed over coronavirus concerns.
"We are very disappointed to announce the postponement of this year’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony," Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame president Joel Peresman said in a statement, according to Rolling Stone. "Our first concern is to the health and safety of our attendees and artists and we are complying to the direction of the local and state authorities and common sense. We look forward to rescheduling the ceremony and will make that announcement at the earliest convenience."
Among the artists that are slated to be inducted into the Rock Hall this year are NINE INCH NAILS, DEPECHE MODE, THE DOOBIE BROTHERS, Whitney Houston, T.REX and the Notorious B.I.G.

KISS Postpones Last Three Shows Of Spring 2020 U.S. Leg Of 'End Of The Road' Tour Over Coronavirus Concerns
The final three shows of the spring leg of KISS's "End Of The Road" tour are being rescheduled out of an abundance of caution in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Tulsa, Oklahoma concert (originally scheduled for March 12) will now be Sunday, October 4 at BOK Center; Biloxi, Mississippi (originally scheduled for March 15) will now be Tuesday, October 6 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum; and Lafayette, Louisiana (originally scheduled for March 14) will now be Wednesday, October 7 at Cajundome. Tickets will be honored on the new dates. The fall leg of KISS's tour remains unchanged.
"The band looks forward to seeing the fans very soon," said a statement from KISS.
Late last week, KISS scrapped its previously announced meet-and-greet events on the "End Of The Road" tour due to the unfolding coronavirus crisis.
KISS manager Doc McGhee released a statement announcing the cancelation, explaining that the bandmembers "have been advised to temporarily" call off these events as authorities struggle to keep people out of crowded places as the virus continued to spread.
"Our Meet and Greets have always offered us and you our fans a unique opportunity to literally stand shoulder to shoulder together," McGhee said in the statement. "After many discussions with experts in the field, we have been advised to temporarily cancel these events given the reality that we do this nightly for a hundred or more fans. Shows will continue as scheduled and we look forward to resuming our time with you backstage."
The World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared the spread of the new coronavirus, which began in China in late December, a pandemic on Wednesday (March 11). More than 115,000 cases have been reported worldwide — including more than 1,000 in the U.S.

MAYHEM And ABBATH: 'Decibel Magazine Tour' Canceled
Due to bans on gatherings in excess of 250 people in numerous states and cities, the "Decibel Magazine Tour" has been canceled.
This year's edition of the "Decibel Magazine Tour" — featuring MAYHEM, ABBATH, GATECREEPER and IDLE HANDS — was scheduled to launch on March 13 in Denver, Colorado and conclude on April 10 in Chicago, Illinois.
The "Decibel Magazine Tour" organizers announced the cancelation in a statement earlier today. They wrote: "In an effort to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous states and cities on the 'Decibel Magazine Tour' routing have announced bans on gatherings in excess of 250 or 500 people (with many more expected to do the same in the coming days). As a result, we have been forced to cancel the 'Decibel Magazine Tour'. Though it pains us to see so many plans disrupted as a result, we must remain committed to ensuring the safety of the bands, their crew, venue staff and, of course, the fans during this time.
"For ticket refunds, please inquire at point of purchase. Thanks for your understanding and support of MAYHEM, ABBATH, GATECREEPER, IDLE HANDS and Decibel."

DEVIN TOWNSEND Postpones Remaining Shows On North American Tour Over Coronavirus Concerns
Canadian heavy music artist Devin Townsend has postponed the remaining shows on his North American tour in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The trek kicked off on February 27 in Toronto and was scheduled to end on March 25 in San Francisco.
Earlier today, Devin released the following statement regarding the concert postponements:
"It is with immense disappointment that I have been put in the position to announce the postponement of the remaining dates on my 'Empath Vol. 1 North American Tour' due to Corona Virus.
"With the travel ban in effect from Europe and the consequent chaos that has brought to travel plans, as well as the increasing social unrest, combined with the fact that half of this crew is either European or from the UK, it put us in a tenuous position. Several of the dates have been cancelled by the state, and I suspect many more to come.
"This is a postponement, not a cancellation. And your support has been tremendous thus far. The best it's been in North America. Thank you and immense apologies to those who were looking forward to it. Also, apologies to our fantastic crew and incredible band for the loss of income.
"Thank you for your patience and sorry for the short notice. This came up overnight in a chaotic flurry of new information.
"Much love, till next time Dev"
He added via Twitter: "The remainder of the tour is postponed. We found out at 3 am as a result of the travel ban put into effect yesterday. I can't begin to express my disappointment and I apologize especially to those who have travelled.
"It's not responsible to hold big meetings of people in this current climate, perhaps not for you and I, but especially the ramifications of spreading it to people who we may interact with who are older or immune compromised.
"It has been a really hard day. No one has slept in over 30 hours. I was asked to wait before I announced so the official statement could be cleared with agents, rental companies, venues etc. Again, this is a postponement, not cancellation
"Your support has been so wonderful on this run, I'm so sorry."
Townsend released his acclaimed new album "Empath" in March 2019 and embarked on the "Empath - European Tour Vol. 1" last November.
Since disbanding the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, Devin has been tracking down players of excellence to form a new live band, the initial incarnation of which he presented via a video message in September.
"Empath" saw Devin incorporating all the styles that make up his current interests in one place.

Update: Saturday’s show with @dvntownsend has been postponed to a later date TBA. Stay tuned for more info, a statement from Devin is above.

CHARLIE BENANTE Praises LARS ULRICH's Drumming: 'I Love The Way He Would Think In A Song'
ANTHRAX's Charlie Benante has praised Lars Ulrich's musicianship, saying that he "loves" the way the METALLICA drummer "would think in a song."
Benante made his comment as part of a Revolver magazine feature on his five favorite drummers.
In addition to namechecking Neil Peart (RUSH), Alex Van Halen (VAN HALEN), Jerry Gaskill (KING'S X) and Ringo Starr (THE BEATLES), Benante said: "Some of these 'Big Four' drummers have a place here, too, 'cause we all were coming up together in this whole movement, this whole thrash movement — me, Lars and Dave [Lombardo, SLAYER]. And I think the three drummers always had something that was different from the other. I love the way Lars would think in a song and I love the way Dave's aggression in the song propelled the song. So I'd have to say those two."
In a 2017 interview with Songfacts, Benante was asked which song by the other "Big Four" bands has the "sickest drumming." He responded: "I like this one thing that Lars does in the [METALLICA] song 'Battery', where it's after the lead section, and it just has this double-bass thing. I just always liked that part. And there's a song on SLAYER's 'Hell Awaits' record, 'Praise Of Death' — there's a fill towards the end of the song that's pretty sick."
Back in 2016, Ulrich, who has gotten a lot of flak over the years from people who accused him of being a poor drummer, told the "Talk Is Jericho" podcast that he went through a period in the mid-1980s "that probably culminated in the 'Justice' album where I felt sort of compelled to try to show ability."
According to Lars, part of the reason for him feeling insecure about his abilities was the increased competition from some of his peers.
"Listen, when you've got Dave Lombardo and Charlie Benante breathing down your back, it was, like, 'Okay, I've gotta…' I tried to step it up a little bit and tried to do my own thing and do all this crazy shit," he said. "I was trying really hard to push the drums kind of into the foreground. And then, after like a year or two of that, I was, like, 'Okay. Seriously? Just do your thing. Chill out. Support the riffs. Do what's best for the song.' So since around I guess the late '80s — so I guess it's been, like, 25 years now — the only thing that's really interested me is just doing the best thing for the song."

S-TOOL Feat. Former SENTENCED Frontman VILLE LAIHIALA: 'Exitus' Album Due In April
"St. Bastard", the new single from S-TOOL — the band led by Ville Laihiala, formerly of SENTENCED and POISONBLACK — was released on March 6. The song is taken from S-TOOL's upcoming album, "Exitus", which will be made available on April 4 via Playground Music.
Laihiala says: "'St Bastard' tells of an arrogant oxygen seeker, who deprives, consumes, cries and complains. So, this song is about a self-loathing narcissist. A cancer with an ego." The same nihilism is released throughout "Exitus", which will be released on CD, LP and cassette.
S-TOOL released its debut album, "Tolerance 0", in 2017. The disc received a fine reception in Finland, and the song "Hammering" was a constant on the Finnish radio airwaves. The album was also released in the rest of Europe and Japan, where the record went to the top of the digital charts.
In addition to Laihiala, S-TOOL consist of guitarist Sami Leppikangas and bassist Kimmo Hiltunen — both pf whom were in LULLACRY — and drummer Aksu Hanttu, who has previously played with ENTWINE.
S-TOOL's name is an abbreviation of the heavy construction drill "Severing Tool."
Known for its hard-hitting live shows, S-TOOL will launch an extensive tour this spring, starting at the end of March in Hyvinkää.

Watch GEOFF TATE Perform QUEENSRŸCHE's 'Rage For Order' And 'Empire' Albums In Columbus
Geoff Tate is performing the QUEENSRŸCHE albums "Rage For Order" and "Empire" in their entirety on the "Empire 30th Anniversary Tour", which kicked off in January in Norway.
Fan-filmed video footage of Tate's March 10 concert at Skully's Music-Diner in Columbus, Ohio can be seen below.
1986's "Rage For Order" introduced a much more polished look and sound for QUEENSRŸCHE. The album featured keyboards as prominently as guitars, and the group adopted an image more closely associated with glam rock or glam metal than with heavy metal (of which glam metal was a subgenre). A video was filmed for the song "Gonna Get Close to You", originally recorded in 1984 by DALBELLO.
Released in 1990, "Empire" included the hit ballad "Silent Lucidity", which reached No. 9 on the Billboard singles chart, helped propel "Empire" to No. 7 on the album chart and earned two Grammy Award nominations.
Prior to the launch of the trek, Tate told MisplacedStraws.com that he will take the "Empire 30th Anniversary Tour" to "as many countries as I can and playing the album in its entirety, which I've never done before. So that'll be real fun. In fact, I think there's some songs on that album that I've never, ever played live before, so it'll be a treat — for me, as well, I think, for the audience too," the former QUEENSRŸCHE singer said. "I'm really looking forward to that."
Tate told Eonmusic that one song from "Empire" that was rarely performed live is "Anybody Listening?" "When QUEENSRŸCHE was together, we never really put that song in our set," he said. "We just had a hard time playing it, for some reason; it just never jelled or felt right. And I'd really like to play that song again, and play it right."
In April 2014, Tate and QUEENSRŸCHE announced that a settlement had been reached after a nearly two-year legal battle where the singer sued over the rights to the QUEENSRŸCHE name after being fired in 2012. Original QUEENSRŸCHE members Michael Wilton (guitar), Scott Rockenfield (drums) and Eddie Jackson (bass) responded with a countersuit. The settlement included an agreement that Wilton, Rockenfield and Jackson would continue as QUEENSRŸCHE, while Tate would have the sole right to perform the albums "Operation: Mindcrime" and "Operation: Mindcrime II" in their entirety live.
Tate has been replaced in QUEENSRŸCHE by former CRIMSON GLORY singer Todd La Torre.
Geoff recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of "Operation: Mindcrime" on European and U.S. tours.
Tate's post-QUEENSRŸCHE band OPERATION: MINDCRIME released three albums over three years as part of a trilogy: "The Key" (September 2015), "Resurrection" (September 2016) and "The New Reality" (December 2017). | 0

Check out the remastered version of “The Reaper”, taken from Restless & Dead, below, or on Spotify.

STEVEN WILSON Announces New Album, 'The Future Bites'; First Single, 'Personal Shopper', Now Available
Steven Wilson will release his new studio album, "The Future Bites", on June 12 via Caroline International. The follow-up to 2017's "To The Bone" is an exploration of how the human brain has evolved in the Internet era. As well as being Wilson's phenomenal sixth album, "The Future Bites" is also an online portal to a world of high concept design custom built for the ultra-modern consumer. Where "To The Bone" confronted the emerging global issues of post-truth and fake news, "The Future Bites" places the listener in a world of 21st century addictions. It's a place where ongoing, very public experiments constantly take place into the affects of nascent technology on our lives. From out-of-control retail therapy, manipulative social media and the loss of individuality, "The Future Bites" is less a bleak vision of an approaching dystopia, more a curious reading of the here and now.
Musically, "The Future Bites" gleams. Featuring gorgeous electronic sounds warped by human intervention ("King Ghost"), soaring acoustics that head straight upwards into the stratosphere ("12 Things I Forgot"), relentless bass-driven Motorik grooves ("Follower") and swampish, murky funk ("Eminent Sleaze"), it is Steven's most consistently brilliant work to date.
The album was recorded in London and co-produced by David Kosten and Steven Wilson.
The first single from the album, "Personal Shopper", can be streamed below.
"The Future Bites" track listing:
01. Unself
02. Self
03. King Ghost
04. 12 Things I Forgot
05. Eminent Sleaze
06. Personal Shopper
07. Man Of The People

JEFF PILSON Reflects On 1988 'Monsters Of Rock' Tour: 'I Wish DOKKEN Would Have Been More Up To The Task At The Time'
Bassist Jeff Pilson (FOREIGNER, DOKKEN, DIO) recently spoke with Eric Blair of "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show". The full conversation can be seen below. A few excerpts follow (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).
On FOREIGNER's Mick Jones:
Jeff: "He may not do every show [of the band's 2020 tour], but he's doing the whole tour. He's doing great. It's kind of a precaution — 'Let's be cool.' He doesn't absolutely have to do it, so if we can make it easier on him, it's a little better. But he's doing great — he's in wonderful spirits; he's playing great; everything's great."
On the "most comforting" aspect of being in FOREIGNER:
Jeff: "I would say the camaraderie of everybody in the band. We really get along well. We have to, because we tour, I think, more than anybody out there. [Laughs] But we really do get along. We really do love one another. A lot of humor. We joke because practically have our own language now. There's so many inside jokes and terms that we use. I've seen people in the room with us before when we're just talking and we don't realize somebody else is there, and they'll look up and go, 'What the hell are you guys saying?' We have so many crazy expressions and little terminology things. I think that that camaraderie is the reason I've been able to maintain for 16 years. It would drive you crazy without that. It really would. The travel... The shows don't drive you crazy. The shows are great; the fans are wonderful; the band and songs are great; but having that camaraderie keeps you sane. It's a check on the insanity of road life, and having that is very comforting."
On what he considers to be the highlight of his years in DOKKEN:
Jeff: "In some ways, it would have been the Monsters Of Rock tour in '88. It was VAN HALEN, SCORPIONS, us, METALLICA and KINGDOM COME. Everybody was friends. Everybody was crazy partying back then. There would have to be a couple days between shows unless there was two nights in one venue, because you had all these trucks, all this gear. It took that long to get the whole operation to the next city. It was one of the most fun tours you can ever imagine being on. Everybody was a character — just so many fun times. And playing stadiums, that was a really cool thing. I wish DOKKEN would have been more up to the task at the time. That was not our strongest time as a live band. We were better before that. That was the way we went out in the '80s. That's almost a regret. I wish we would have gone out on a more positive note. Playing for all those people and not being at our best, that still kind of hurts, but having said that, it was an amazing experience. You still hear about it today."
On George Lynch:
Jeff: "He's just got so much soul in his playing. When George is in the zone, as I call it — because he's not always in the zone; by his own admission, sometimes he's kind waffling about — but when he gets in the zone, it is pure magic, and it's all coming from his soul. He's not a schooled musician, so he's not thinking about scales and stuff like that. When he connects with that, he's a genius. I don't know if people realize that. He's a musical genius, and just a genius guy. When he's connected and the music is flowing through him with that genius and that much soul, I think he's the greatest guitar player in the world when he's in that zone."
On his work with LAST IN LINE, BLACK SWAN and THE END MACHINE:
Jeff: "What's great is that Frontiers is providing a platform. You have to do a lot of things these days to get music out there. I don't do these records for money — I do them because I love doing them. I have a wonderful day job with FOREIGNER, but we don't record that much. We do some recording, which is great, but I love to record, so having the opportunity to record as much as I can on my off time, I do. It's basically an opportunity to work with really talented people... To work with great, talented people and collaborate and make music, that's what I love to do."
On BLACK SWAN:
Jeff: "Reb [Beach] and I had done a DOKKEN record over 20 years ago, so we knew we had a really strong writing chemistry. We really enjoyed doing that DOKKEN record together, so we knew it was going to be good. He would come for about a week at a time to my place — I have a beautiful studio attached to my house — and we would get up in the morning [and work]. He had some ideas with him, and we'd [say], 'Okay, let's work on that one,' and then we'd build it into a song. By the end of the day, we had the tracks. It was amazing. We'd send Robin [McAuley] the music and he would write a first draft of lyrics. Sometimes we kept it just the way it was; sometimes we changed it a little bit. It was constant collaboration, lots of laughs but very productive. It was amazing — [a] very inspired project [with] amazing playing and singing by everybody. I'm very, very proud of it. [I'm] hoping we can take it to the next step, which would be great... It's mostly really scheduling. We all have other gigs that have to take precedence. That's our priorities, so finding the time where we could do it would be very, very difficult. Not impossible, and we would like to make it work somehow. [It's] probably going to be tough, but we'd like to make it work. If nothing else, I hope we get to make another record, and then maybe the time will open up."
On whether his career turned out the way he expected:
Jeff: "When I was a kid, I imagined more of the pure glamour. What I didn't realize was how much in love with music I would become — how much I would fall in love with music — and it's really the music that sustains me. It's not the sex [or] drugs; it's the rock n' roll. Maybe I'm too old for the other stuff, but honestly, it's the music that really does give you that satisfaction. It's the fix. I don't think I would have guessed that as a kid. As a kid, sure, you love the music, but you saw it in the context of stardom and money and chicks and all that kind of thing. It's not that. It's really not. Yeah, there was a period of that, but you can't do that for 40 or 50 years, but you can do music for 50 years, and that's what I've been able to do." | +1

LACUNA COIL Releases Music Video For 'Save Me'
Italian metallers LACUNA COIL have released an official music video for the single "Save Me". Recorded on their last European tour, the clip — directed by Isabella D'Alessandro — shows powerful moments on stage and some intimate insights behind it.
LACUNA COIL vocalist Andrea Ferro said: "'Save Me' is about the fact that we all make mistakes, have struggles, and even regret things. But we are not those mistakes and struggles. We have the power to shape our day. The time is now."
"Save Me" is taken from LACUNA COIL's latest album, "Black Anima", which came out last October.
In a recent interview with Genre Is Dead! magazine, LACUNA COIL singer Cristina Scabbia said that it wasn't the band's intention to make a concept album when it started working on "Black Anima". "In the beginning, we had a lot of ideas but they weren't focused on one big picture, so that was a problem," she explained. "When you have too many things to say then the risk becomes saying something that is confusing. At first, we struggled to start the songwriting process. Marco [Coti Zelati], our bass player, who produced the record and is also the main songwriter for the music, couldn't really put down the music. He was worried because he wasn't inspired, and this is a thing you can only do when you're inspired. We had a meeting where we brought a lot of pictures and anything that could visually inspire. Marco gets inspiration from movies and video games because he wants to write a soundtrack for the images he sees. The inspiration started to flow very easily when we were finally focused on what we wanted to say. Then Andrea [Ferro, LACUNA COIL co-vocalist] and I wrote the vocal lines and lyrics. Marco would then put music on it and send it back to us. But all the songs are not tied to each other; it's not a concept record. It's definitely a story and we'd suggest listening to the record from the beginning to the end. Take an hour out of your day to enjoy it as it is. It is very dynamic and every song makes sense within the record. It brings you through a lot of different moods."
Ferro spoke about the "Black Anima" lyrics in more detail during an interview with Dead Rhetoric. He said: "In general, when we started [coming up with lyrical ideas], Cristina and I, we were brainstorming and trying to find out what would be the strongest thing to talk about. We usually start with personal experiences, at least as a starting point for the songs. We talk about what happens to us in the lyrics. So we were searching for the strongest impact of the last three years [since 'Delirium']. The strongest thing that happened was the fact that we had been losing some dear people and the way that we have been reacting has been very surprising. It's nothing that we have ever imagined before. This passage of life, which is natural for everyone to face sooner or later, it was one of the strongest impacts we had. Especially how much we still feel these people around us and inside us in everything that we do. So that led us to talk about a topic of using this connection between our world and [another] world. I was also reading a book called 'The Physics Of Angels', which is written by a priest and a scientist. They both analyze the physics of angels, ghosts, and spirits throughout history. That together lead us to this concept of black souls, which you can see on the cover. It tells all of the stories of the spirits. We also have Tarot cards decks, which we use to communicate with the spirits. We also imagined the stage clothes would be something like 'soul hunters' or something like that. All of a sudden, we opened up something much bigger to work with Marco on the music. So it's been a work that came altogether with the lyrics, then moved on to the music, as well as everything like the live clothes and scenery, and the merch. Everything was connected. It's not a proper concept album in that it is one unique story, but the approach and theme is common."
Formed in 1994, LACUNA COIL celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2019. | +4

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY To Record New Album This Spring
Zakk Wylde spoke to Billboard.com about BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's plans to work on a new studio album. He said: "I'm going to do some writing, I guess, in April, and [in] May and June, we'll [record] and have that one ready to roll. I don't demo or stockpile shit. Never have. I'm not like Prince, where he's recording stuff all the time. I just like to come up with a riff or an idea and be like, 'Why don't we track that one today?' It's like the beginning of a new season. It's always fun."
Wylde added that he expects to take BLACK LABEL SOCIETY back on the road in Europe later this year.
BLACK LABEL SOCIETY has spent the last couple of years touring in support of its tenth full-length album, "Grimmest Hits", which was released in January 2018 via Entertainment One (eOne).
The band celebrated the 20th anniversary of its first album, "Sonic Brew", last year.
Zakk has been the on-again-off-again guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne since 1987, although he does not appear on the legendary heavy metal singer's latest LP, "Ordinary Man".
Wylde can be heard on 10 of Ozzy's albums, including "No Rest For The Wicked", "No More Tears" and "Ozzmosis". He has also released two solo LPs, 1996's "Book Of Shadows" and 2016's "Book Of Shadows II".
BLACK LABEL SOCIETY is:
Zakk Wylde - Vocals/Guitar
John DeServio - Bass
Dario Lorina - Guitar
Jeff Fabb - Drums | +5 | |
