Austrian symphonic metallers EDENBRIDGE will release their tenth studio album, "Dynamind", on October 25 via Steamhammer/SPV. The official music video for the latest single, "On The Other Side", can be viewed below.
Any band wanting to leave its mark in our fast-lived world needs first and foremost two things: compositional substance and consistency. After all, there are plenty of one-hit wonders in this industry, those overnight sensations with their artificial fast food-like products that frequently don’t even have the shelf-life of fresh fruit and veg. EDENBRIDGE, on the other hand, has already proven its great musical potential: nine studio albums since their debut in 2000, in addition to a number of live recordings, DVDs and compilations speaking for themselves.
Having said that, it's surprising that the Austrian band has once again succeeded in raising the bar for symphonic melodic metal even further with "Dynamind". Composer and multi-instrumentalist Lanvall has produced another offering that's ambitious in every respect and will, without a doubt, go down in the band's history as its "toughest" release to date.
Finnish rockers WALTARI, who feature in their ranks current KREATOR guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö, will release a new studio album in 2020 via Rodeostar Records. In the meantime, the band has just unveiled a music video for a new song called "Postrock", which is described in a press release as "an anthem for the 'post-rock generation' who — due to their later birth — are not blessed to know anything about the original rock times, when people were living in optimism towards the future and life in general." The press release goes on to call the track "a tribute to this generation zero that is waking up in this delicate period of time and into this difficult world. Be it populistic demagogues across the globe, giant environmental problems etc. — yet still longing for something better, and, yes, deserving something better! Musically the song stands for 'a' typical WALTARI song, a speedy rhythm with a metal riff, combined with a melodic hookline and a separate rap part."
WALTARI will support DOG EAT DOG on the latter band's anniversary tour from today until mid-October.
WALTARI's 14th album, "You Are Waltari", was released in 2015 via Rodeostar Records.
With their European arena tour with VOLBEAT just days away, acclaimed Canadian hard rockers DANKO JONES have unveiled a music video for their anthemic new single, "Fists Up High". Check it out below.
The "Fists Up High" video was shot in Gothenburg, Sweden last month with noted director Patric Ullaeus (IN FLAMES, ARCH ENEMY) on an off day during the band's recent European festival tour. The clip marks the first time in seven years that the group — whose namesake vocalist/guitarist was recently praised by Classic Rock as "the standard by which other intense modern frontmen are measured" — has filmed a true performance video.
"'Fists Up High' is my favorite song on our new album, 'A Rock Supreme'," Danko says. "We're very excited for everyone to see the new video and can't wait to play it when we hit the road with VOLBEAT."
A two-track digital single for "Fists Up High" is now available on Spotify, Apple Music and other platforms. The B-side is a cover of "You Love It", a song by Canadian electropunk singer Peaches. "We love Peaches, and watched her start up in Toronto and take over the world," says Danko. "'You Love It' has the attitude and energy that makes you want to bang your head and dance the night away."
In other DANKO JONES news, the band — which just completed a successful Australian tour — recently announced two concerts in its home province of Ontario, including a hometown show at Toronto's Lee's Palace on December 6.
DANKO JONES has made a name for itself over the years as a must-see live band during memorable tours with the likes of GUNS N' ROSES, MOTÖRHEAD and CLUTCH. The group's best-known material includes "Had Enough", which earned the group their first gold and platinum singles in Sweden and has racked up more than 14 million Spotify streams; "Gonna Be A Fight Tonight", which WWE used as the official theme song of the 2015 Royal Rumble; and "Lovercall", their first of seven singles to crack the U.S. Active Rock Top 40.
The group's latest album, "A Rock Supreme" was produced by Garth "Gggarth" Richardson (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, RISE AGAINST, BIFFY CLYRO).
Encompassing everything from black metal to straight-forward heavy metal, Death Tribe's debut, Beyond Pain And Pleasure: A Desert Experiment, captures the pain of living amid war-torn Beruit. A video for the track "Neurotic Breakdown" from the album can be found below.
Says Death Tribe's Anthony Kaoteon, "This track is complex, technical and intense, as it represents the stage in life when one realizes they were forced into this pit and left to deal with its atrocities. We don't choose where we are born. Black, white, yellow, Arab or Jew, some of us are born in war torn countries, others in below-poverty areas. Even those born with a silver spoon in their mouth are still battling their own demons because everything is about perspective. However, most people don't realize that, and the only way to escape reality is through substances that create an even more complex schizoid world that is out of control. We blame others, if not ourselves, and hate everyone and everything around us instead of accepting that we can influence change through our choices, accept ourselves and the differences of others. Hate feeds on hate. Start by accepting your reality and grow to accept others."
Scarred by death, corruption and a multitude of atrocities supported by radical ideologies, Anthony Kaoteon has always been driven by challenges to hustle out of a cursed life and establish himself without prejudice or belonging. He decided not to accept the status quo and shaped his own fate.
The diversity of Beyond Pain And Pleasure: A Desert Experiment is truly a result of time and place. Composed over the course of several years and several periods of war - Kaoteon pulled the album together after leaving Lebanon for the more peaceful deserts of Dubai.

Australia's high voltage outfit, Mammoth Mammoth, announce their highly anticipated fifth studio album, Kreuzung, set for a release on November 8 via Napalm Records. Kreuzung will be available on LP, CD and in digital formats, and can be pre-ordered here.
Recorded and produced by Richard Behrens in the winter of 2018/19 at Big Snuff Studio, Berlin, it is the first album with the new lineup consisting of original members, Mikey Tucker (vocalist) and Frank Trobbiani (drums) and introducing new members, Marco Gennaro (guitarist) and Kris Fiore (bass). The rock 'n' roll juggernaut seized the opportunity to refine their hard-rock formula since the release of Mount The Mountain two years ago. The result is an electrifying sledgehammer that cements their name Mammoth Mammoth. Kreuzung’s (German for crossroads) hypnotic title track could crush a beer can with it’s sheer soundwave force, try it out and watch their brand new video, for the album title track, below.
In January 2017, the band found themselves at a crossroads. Already committed to two European tours, including their first visit to Spain and Portugal plus a large number of shows on the summer festival circuit, original guitarist Ben Couzens and bassist Pete Bell were unable to perform those ongoing commitments. In order for Mammoth Mammoth to honour those shows, Tucker and Trobbiani needed to find replacement musicians to continue to bring the high-energy, beer-soaked, dirty-rock shows to their loyal fan base.
Inspired by new surroundings, Tucker, Trobbiani, Gennaro and Fiore holed themselves up in Rock Haus, Berlin in 2018 and crafted the new album together whilst searching for a new producer. Someone who would both challenge and nurture their new lineup.
Tucker says on working with Richard, "I wanted to introduce a new sound, something a little more vintage sounding. I was tired of listening to rock albums that were so overly produced they’d lost all their soul. I stumbled upon Big Snuff Studio and really liked the work they were doing with Kadavar." Trobbiani adds, "Writing and recording Kreuzung in Berlin has been a refreshing change, the collaborative process made the whole experience killer and we can’t wait to play it live to everyone."
Kreuzung, signifies where the band had found themselves in 2017, somewhere between the past, the present and the future. This album proves that the gritty rock 'n' roll manifesto of Mammoth Mammoth has truly evolved and they know exactly where they’re heading next.
Kreuzung tracklisting:

"Wanted Man"
"Motherf@cker"
"Screamin'"
"Kreuzung"
"Tear it Down"
"Tonight"

"Without You", the new video from alternative rockers COLD, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's sixth studio album, "The Things We Can't Stop", which was released on September 13 via Napalm Records.
Commented frontman Scooter Ward: "This is our new video for the song 'Without You'. The song is about doubting blind faith. The video was created with a horror movie/cult type storyline about a lost soul finding hope in the darkness," says.
COLD has always documented memories and moments in song, etching them forever in diaristic lyrics, cinematic production, and airy guitars. Since their 1997 self-titled debut, the group fronted by singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Ward, has consistently converted pain into poetry consumed by a legion of diehard fans affectionately dubbed "Cold Army."
After a dormant two-year period, 2017 saw Ward turn his attention to COLD through once again surveying the events of an ever-changing journey and relying on the same internal compass responsible for his catalog thus far.
"I needed life to happen to be able to create," he admits. "There were probably around 15 years where all I did was live and breathe the band. I needed to separate from that to remember what it was like to not have it anymore. It was extremely important for me to spend time with my family. I did experience writer's block for the first time in my life during the process though. It was brutal, because the one thing I've always had — left me. It seemed the series of events in my life had taken away my soul. It turned around. I've remained adamant about evolving a bit with each record. Approaching every chapter as a new beginning is paramount and necessary for it to be a true COLD album."
That's exactly what he made with his 2019 debut for Napalm Records, "The Things We Can't Stop". In order to overcome the drought, he returned to his "alternative roots," spinning favorite records from THE NATIONAL, INTERPOL and PLACEBO in addition to reading musician biographies. Discovering Nick Cave's "One More Time With Feeling" documentary proved eye-opening. Not only did he watch the film over twenty times and develop a deeper appreciation for the artist, but Ward credits him for "breaking my block."
He recorded the album in multiple locations. Drums and bass would be cut in Phoenix with Jeremy Parker at Equinox Studios joined by Nick Coyle (guitar, keys, backing vocals), Lindsay Manfredi (bass) and Aaron Fulton (drums). The rest of the material came to life at Ward's home studio in California and in the woods of Pennsylvania at Nick's.
With instrumentation in place, his vision unfolded in classic COLD fashion.
"Every time we begin a record, I wait for the music to tell me what the songs will be about," he explains. "I can never start a record with a preconceived notion of how it will end. The notes from the piano dictate the stories within the songs. I needed this to be an album with elements from all of the past albums…along with a new sound. As songs started forming, I felt they helped me deal with things happening in my life. They were therapeutic. It seemed powerful in that it took all of the bad things going in my head and gave me hope."
In the end, "The Things We Can't Stop" shines a light on life's tragedy only to color it with beauty as COLD has always done.
"When you listen to this, if you're going through something tragic, maybe you can take a small bit of hope that you're not alone," Ward leaves off. "To me, COLD means family. The fans who have stayed with us throughout the years and the people who have worked with us and are all connected through the music. The shows are reunions. These people have become my life. I'm extremely thankful."
Metallica have released professionally-filmed footage of their performance of "No Leaf Clover", filmed at Valdebebas in Madrid, Spain on May 3. Check it out below:
Metallica's next concert is scheduled for October 17 at Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia. Find the band's complete tour itinerary here.
Pollstar is making the case that Metallica is the biggest touring band of all-time.
They report, “The numbers speak for themselves: according to Pollstar Boxoffice, Metallica sold nearly 22.1 million total tickets and grossed some $1.4 billion since 1982, dwarfing huge rock bands of the era including AC/DC (14.3 million tickets) and Ozzy Osbourne (10 million, 13.2 if counting Ozzy plus Black Sabbath). The closest competitor on dollars grossed is Guns N’ Roses, with nearly $800 million grossed largely thanks to the band’s mammoth Not In This Lifetime reunion tour.
“Those 22.1 million tickets puts them in select company, including just behind the one and only U2 – which until recently held the all-time touring record on its 360 run – solidifying Metallica’s rightful place as one of the biggest bands in the world, and still growing. Over the past five years alone, the band’s headline touring business puts them in a class with not only U2, but The Rolling Stones as well as newcomers like Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. However, when accounting for the reach of Metallica’s business – which includes breaking a slew of attendance records on their current tour clear to Moscow – while playing 48 countries and every single continent (including Antarctica) over the course of their career, fervent and rabid merch consumption totaling $125 million in North America since the Black Album and into the high teens per-head on its latest touring, and the band’s road touring with no-gimmick reunion or farewell announcement necessary to drum up extra business – and Metallica may just be the biggest band in the world.”
“I keep thinking and forcing myself to think all our best years are still ahead of us. We may even turn professional and do this full time one day,” jokes original Metallica drummer and oft-spokesman Lars Ulrich. “That’s the MO. It’s always, ‘What’s your favorite record?’ It’s the next one, the one we haven’t recorded yet. it’s always about the possibilities, always about what can be, what’s coming. That, to me, is what this is all about and I think that attitude is a big part of the why Metallica still connects to so many people around the world.”
On October 4th, Barcelona's Syberia will release their third album, Seeds Of Change, via Blacklight Media / Metal Blade Records. Pre-order here.
Syberia craft intricate and involving instrumental rock opuses, and they have never sounded more assured than on Seeds Of Change. Following in the footsteps of Caspian, Mogwai and Russian Circles, their instrumental works are complex yet instantly accessible, weighty, gorgeously melodic, and always deeply moving.
For another preview of Seeds Of Change, a live video for the album's title track can be found below.
Broadening the spectrum of emotion demonstrated on 2016's Resiliency, Seeds Of Change is triumphant, edgy, soothing, urgent, haunting, aggressive, nostalgic and so much more - every song featuring a diverse array of tones and moods, and all of them flowing seamlessly together.
"We have always liked combining elements like darkness, fragility and strength. The contrasts they create are a core part of our lives and they become very apparent in our music. If we had to describe it, we'd say this is a dark, delicate and powerful record. However, it's full of smoother passages which make it dynamic."
Pick any track and these shifting elements are apparent.
Though lacking lyrics, Seeds Of Change tells a story regardless, which is encapsulated in the title, its narrative centered on an individual trying to escape from the masses and the dark side of society.
"He is someone who is struggling to maintain his individuality, perhaps to protect his imagination in this grey reality we live in. So we pictured this person as trying to keep his colorful inner world alive, but he is chased by a group of faceless people with a beehive mentality who aim to turn him into one of their own - a black and white, dull copy of a human being. We imagined our hero as the last remaining seed for a change for the better in the world - somebody that will fight until his last breath to change the establishment in one way or another. While there is one seed out there, there is hope that something beautiful can still grow."
With song titles selected based on the feelings they individually evoke these too contribute to the story, as does the record's artwork, though the band are happy that nothing is overly explained, giving the listener space to interpret the music as they see fit.

Berlin, Germany-based rock overlords, Kadavar, have released a live cut of the song "You Found The Best In Me". The footage comes off the bonus Blu-Ray included on the band's new album, For The Dead Travel Fast, which includes the full set of the band's special Berlin show earlier this years, featuring a group of friends and fellow musicians, comprised as The Cosmic Riders Of The Black Sun, performing Kadavar songs with more instruments and arrangements.
Commented singer/guitarist Lupus: "The thought of performing our songs with more musicians had been in the back of my head for a long time. A lot of the songs we've written over the years just needed a second guitar or an organ. Together with our friends we worked on this concert over 10 months. It's not your normal Kadavar gig, but it shows our songs can be interpreted in new ways and can also get that new twist. One of my highlights was the duet with Laura Carbone and her incredible voice. That's exactly how I had always envisioned this songs to sound. For me personally, it was an important project, to look through each and every of our 4 albums and to learn songs that we haven't played since their initial recordings. It helped a lot to find the right way for our new album!"

Hailing from the Mediterranean island nation of Malta, rising metal foursome Align The Tide will unleash a brutal album titled Dead Religion on October 18th with Cleopatra Records. Today, the band has unleashed a video for a crushing cover of hip-hop phenom Travis Scott’s hit song “Sicko Mode.”
Commenting on the new single vocalist/guitarist Kyle Farrugia says, “As we were slowly getting into the roots of nu metal and to further better our sound, we wanted to experiment with the rap side of things. It was challenging to transpose a rap song into metal, especially into our genre, and fit the same lyrical flow onto the track. Apart from it being a fun ride to record, write and perform this alternate version, it was a nice experience to go outside the box.”
Align The Tide was formed in Mellieħa, Malta during 2015. After experimentation with different styles and lineups, founding members Danny Dalli (drums/vocals) and Kyle Farrugia (vocals/lead guitar) enlisted Nikki Buttigieg (rhythm guitar) and Gabriel Camilleri (bass) to help round out the band and define the band’s unique amalgam of thrash, groove and melodic metal sound they’ve become known for.
On their record Dead Religion, Align The Tide takes listeners on an introspective journey with dark heavy lyrical themes that will shock and inspire, complemented with monster riffs and thundering drums.
Farrugia adds about the record, “Dead Religion is catchy; it's heavy; it's toe-tapping and enjoyable. Each track has its single thing that distinguishes itself from the other tracks. Other than that, they are very simple and easy to memorize and enjoy, which will play a very important role in live performances. Some songs are based on real life experiences, whilst some are concepts and stories which run through our mind every single day. Few topics may turn out to be morbid, but we'd like to think of them as wake up calls in order to open your mind and actually think about the situation at hand.”

Detroit metal mainstays, Plague Years, have released a brand-new video for their single, “Hellborn”, today. The track comes from their LP titled, Unholy Infestation, which came out last year.
“This song is about the Hellborn committing genocide on a world that God has abandoned,” says the band. “Hellborn is a breed of people reborn from the dead who are recruited for Hell’s Army. Anyone who follows our band we consider them, Hellborn.”
The band announced their new label home with eOne earlier this year. Plague Years have plans to enter the studio with Nick Morris at Elaire Studios (The Black Dahlia Murder) to begin work on new material to be released next year. Southern California based metal band Sangre has released the official music video for "Death March", off of their upcoming album, Mas Fuerte Que La Muerte (Stronger Than Death), due out December 13th.
Shot at Fuel Music Studios in Fullerton, CA, the video for "Death March" features the band members experiencing different types of stresses including: overdue bills, depression, work-related issues, eviction, alcohol abuse, and suicidal thoughts.
"'Death March,' lyrically, touches on the current situation of 'living wages' vs 'cost of living,' focusing on the stress, depression, and neglect of personal health and family while just trying to survive in this high demand world. The phenomenon is an actual epidemic in Japan known as 'Karoshi' or 'overworking to survive,' which in many cases results in suicides or fatigue leading to death." - Henry Sanchez (vocals)

Although most recognizable for his starring turns in the hit TV shows "Knight Rider" and "Baywatch", along with numerous feature film appearances ("Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2", "Kung Fury", "Click", "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie", "Dodgeball" and Marvel's original "Nick Fury: Agent Of Shield", among others) and roles on Broadway and the West End in productions of "Jekyll & Hyde", "Chicago" and "The Producers", megastar David Hasselhoff is ready to tackle a different role — the role of passionately earnest pop star singing for a new global consciousness in these difficult and troubled times. It's a role not unfamiliar to Hasselhoff, whose historic performance of the chart-topping single "Looking For Freedom" on the rubble of the newly fallen Berlin Wall in 1989 became a rallying cry not just to a reunited Germany but for all of the burgeoning democracies that were swept up in the winds of change.
For his new single, "Open Your Eyes", Hasselhoff has resurrected a song from that same decade by dark rockers THE LORDS OF THE NEW CHURCH and brought it into the present where it sounds as fresh and vital as ever. "Open your eyes to the lies right in front of you" goes the chorus, echoing the growing discomfort felt everywhere by today's media-saturated, politically marginalized population. Hasselhoff sings the refrain with legitimate fury and conviction against a backing track created by producer Adam Hamilton and renowned guitarist for THE STOOGES, and member of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, James Williamson. As Hasselhoff says, "I found a very relevant song that tells our story and am very proud to sing our story through this song. 'Open Your Eyes' is as relevant today as it was 30 years ago when it was written! Let's make the world great again!"
To help bring the single to life, Hasselhoff has enlisted the video-making talents of Vicente and Fernando Cordero of Industrialism Films who, along with Los Angeles-based artist Dan Dowding of Media Pollution, have crafted a visual representation of the song. The video also leverages the power of social media by incorporating footage of Hoff fans from all over the globe who participated in the #EyesForHoff campaign. The final product is a video rich in spectacle but also carries its message just as effectively as it entertains.
Hasselhoff's new album, also called "Open Your Eyes", is set to be released on September 27, his first with L.A.-based label Cleopatra Records. The album features 12 other fierce new takes of classics such as MODERN ENGLISH's "I Melt With You", ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN's "Lips Like Sugar" and David Bowie's inspirational anthem "Heroes", each of which is brought to life in collaboration with one of a diverse array of artists ranging from industrial wild child Al Jourgensen of MINISTRY, major film composer Tyler Bates ("Guardians Of The Galaxy", "John Wick" franchise), country legend Charlie Daniels, Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame nominee Todd Rundgren, '80s new wave icons A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS and many more. "Open Your Eyes" will be available on both CD in a deluxe digipak with a special collectible "Hoff Army" patch, on vinyl in limited-edition red vinyl and on all digital formats starting September 27.
Los Angeles-based five-piece, The Crown Remnant, are ready to bring the heat with their latest single, "The Other Side", available on Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, Spotify and Bandcamp tomorrow (Tuesday, September 17). "The Other Side", is a single packed with energy, intrigue and is heavy enough to raise the dead.
In the band's most recent release leading up to the single, The Crown Remnant launched a brand new music video for the killer track “Legacy” included in the album The Wicked King: Part II! Watch the music video below.
Lead vocalist Will Ash says, “We've been evolving ever since day one as a band. We pride ourselves on being able to come out with songs that really separate our catalog from the rest and with this new track 'The Other Side', we have outdone ourselves. Our last album The Wicked King followed a narrative of a lost ruler breaking his way into our world from a time long ago and cheating death. With this new song, we get to explore the themes of death and life, and what it means to be gone forever. We hope you check our song out, it's our most creative, melodic, and thrilling yet.”
You can now watch two additional videos from The Crown Remnant, including a lyric music video for “Inferno”, as well as a drum playthrough for "The Wicked King":
The Crown Remnant are rising stars in the world of creative, melodic-yet-heavy, and theatrical metal, and the world is about to take notice. With a variety of influences from modern metalcore, thrash, symphonic metal to progressive metal, punk and more, "The Other Side" is the latest in the band's evolution of genre-bending metal. Within the first weeks of its release, The Crown Remnant garnered over 15,000 streams of their first single taken from The Wicked King: Part II, entitled “Inferno”. The band plans match and exceed that with the newest single, "The Other Side".
"The Other Side" is a dive into the question of what happens after death and explores themes of death and life. Originally recorded as a bonus track, the band decided use it to head up their latest direction with more to follow after the release of The Wicked King: Part II and its success. Including all new vocal talent, instrumentation, and recording techniques, the band succeeds at pushing the boundaries of what modern metal is today. The cover art weaves in the narrative underlying the song with the band's mascot The Wicked King crawling out of his grave after being brought back from the afterlife. The character was originally introduced in the band's debut The Wicked King: Part I.
"The Other Side" was recorded, produced, and mixed in multiple studios throughout Southern California, with the help of mixing/mastering engineer Yochanon Austin (audio engineer Sound Destination, Valentine Recording Studio, CRAS master recording program), and drum engineer Zach Miller (Sidechain Recording Studios). The songs were rigorously tracked and self-produced by Will Ash (The Crown Remnant).
The Crown Remnant is:
Will Ash - Lead Vocals/Lead Guitar
Joey Camacho - Rhythm/Lead Guitar
Syd Drapkin - Bass Guitar
Art "The Defiler" Ramirez - Drums
Capital Chaos TV has uploaded a four-camera video edit of IRON MAIDEN performing the song "Flight Of Icarus" on September 5 at Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington. Check it out below.
IRON MAIDEN kicked off the 33-city North American leg of "Legacy Of The Beast" on July 18 at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.
Drummer Nicko McBrain recently said about the trek: "When you're there in the flesh and you see this incredible stage set and the production we put into this show, you're going to be absolutely astounded."
The concept for the "Legacy Of The Beast" tour was inspired by MAIDEN's mobile game and comic book of the same name. The stage set design features a number of different but interlocking "worlds" with a setlist covering a large selection of 1980s material with a handful of surprises from later albums to add diversity.
MAIDEN's current set includes a Spitfire buzzing the stage during the opening number, "Aces High". The plane is a 90-percent-sized replica of an actual Supermarine Spitfire Mk Vb registration number AA 853 from 302 Squadron that saw active duty in 1941.
Support on the North American leg of the "Legacy Of The Beast" tour comes from THE RAVEN AGE. Additionally, FOZZY will be guests for the Banc Of California Stadium show in Los Angeles.
MAIDEN's 2019 North, South and Central America trek comprises 44 shows in six countries, which, combined with the band's 2018 European dates, means that by the end of this tour, the group will have taken the "Legacy Of The Beast" show to over one and three quarter of a million fans around the globe.
The first leg of the "Legacy Of The Beast" tour opened in Europe last year to outstanding critical acclaim, not just by the 750,000-plus fans who came to see the show but right across national press and rock media, including The Times (U.K.) newspaper calling it "an extraordinary show filled with world class theatrics… a masterclass in performance and staging."
Canadian heavy music artist Devin Townsend has released an animated music video for the song "Why?", directed by D.C. Turner. Check it out below.
Over the past few years, the success that Devin has slowly worked for has fortunately come with the power to control his own creative destiny. The recent successes with the DVD from a sold-out Royal Albert hall, or his 2012 "Retinal Circus", or the "Ocean Machine" live DVD with the Orchestra And Choir Of State Opera Plovdiv has put him in a position where with the latest album "Empath", he has once and for all defined himself as a musical force outside of any particular genre classification.
On this album, Devin decided to see what would happen if all the styles that make up his current interests were finally represented in one place. To finally shake the fear of expectation, and just do what it is he was meant to do creatively, "Empath", true to the name, is about allowing the audience a feeling for a variety of musical emotions. The musical dynamics represented on this single album are broad, challenging, and immense. To approach this sort of work with a long history of what makes heavy music "heavy," allows this to be done with a type of power rarely heard.
Joining Devin on this album is Frank Zappa alumni Mike Keneally as music director, as well as Morgan Ågren (MATS AND MORGAN, FRANK ZAPPA, FREDRIK THORDENDAL), Anup Sastry (MONUMENTS, PERIPHERY), Samus Paulicelli (DECREPIT BIRTH, ABIGAIL WILLIAMS), Nathan Navarro, Elliot Desagnes, Steve Vai, Chad Kroeger, Anneke Van Giersbergen, Ché Aimee Dorval, Ryan Dhale and the Elektra Women's Choir.
Townsend will embark on the "Empath - European Tour Vol. 1" in November, with HAKEN along as support. Before that, he will perform acoustically in Singapore, followed by an appearance at the Guitar Show in London.
Hard rock and ‘50s rock ‘n’ roll come together with "Cadillac Maniac" as Kissin' Dynamite and The Baseballs deliver the stunning proof that even in 2019 it's possible to create a bold and surprising musical fusion that manages to impress with its sheer refreshing otherness. But how did the spectacular collaboration come about? Both bands originate from roughly the same corner in southern Germany and so it was only a matter of time before the musicians came across each other. "It started out as a project mixing our sound. The result is a high-energy earworm that does not leave the ear canal so quickly", explains Kissin' Dynamite singer Hannes Braun.
In their respective genres, both formations have long been among the big, established players: The Baseballs sold nearly two million albums over the past decade, winning 21 gold and platinum awards and playing over 500 live shows in 26 countries with more than three million enthusiastic spectators. For more than ten years, Kissin' Dynamite have been one of Germany's most important hard rock bands, and undertook sold-out concert tours around the world (including Europe, Japan and Ukraine). Last year, the band signed a major deal with Sony Music label Columbia Records and reached the top ten of the Official German Charts for the first time with their sixth album Esctasy. At the Metal Hammer Awards 2018, Kissin' Dynamite were honored in the category "Best German Band".
The principle of "genre-crossover" has a long tradition. After Run DMC and Aerosmith inspired the imagination of a whole generation of musicians in the mid-eighties with their groundbreaking rap / rock fusion "Walk This Way", representatives of diverse music styles came together in the following years to unite their respective genre elements with great pioneering spirit. In the aftermath, a variety of highly interesting pop/rock/hiphop/indie/dance hybrids emerged, including spectacular collaborations such as Sonic Youth/Chuck D, KLF/Tammy Wynette, Public Enemy/Anthrax, Teenage Fan Club/De La Soul, Fettes Brot/James Last, Justin Timberlake/Chris Stapleton, Foo Fighters/Norah Jones and currently Lil Nas X/Billy Ray Cyrus. With their shared smash "Cadillac Maniac", the unexpected dream team Kissin' Dynamite/The Baseballs is now continuing the story of the music crossover with a highly exciting contribution.
