BROKEN HOPE Releases 'The Carrion Eaters' Video

"The Carrion Eaters", the new video from death metal veterans BROKEN HOPE, can be seen below. The clip, directed by Maciej Pieloch, executes sumptuous gluttony digested in savage death metal as it reveals the twisted feeding rituals of cadaver craving subhumans.

"I'm really proud of 'The Carrion Eaters'. It's super-sick and catchy and rotten to the gore!" says BROKEN HOPE guitarist Jeremy Wagner.

"The Carrion Eaters" is taken from BROKEN HOPE's new album, "Mutilated And Assimilated", which will be released on June 23 via Century Media Records. Produced by Scott Creekmore, available formats include a limited-edition CD+DVD digipak in North America and in a special edition CD+DVD digipak in Europe; as well as digital and streaming versions available on all the major outlets worldwide.

"Mutilated and Assimilated" track listing:

01. The Meek Shall Inherit Shit (02:48)02. The Bunker (03:28)03. Mutilated And Assimilated (03:31)04. Outback Incest Clan (02:31)05. Malicious Meatholes (03:50)06. Blast Frozen (01:58)07. The Necropants (03:14)08. The Carrion Eaters (03:07)09. Russian Sleep Experiment (03:15)10. Hell's Handpuppets (02:48)11. Beneath Antarctic Ice (01:25)12. Swamped-In Gorehog (06:21)

The "Mutilated and Assimilated" artwork was created by Wes Benscoter and can be seen below.

BROKEN HOPE in 2015 overhauled its lineup by adding bassist Diego Soria (DISGORGE) and guitarist Matt Szlachta (DIRGE WITHIN, CHIMAIRA).

BROKEN HOPE is:

Damian Leski - VocalsJeremy Wagner - GuitarsMike Miczek - DrumsMatt Szlachta - Lead GuitarsDiego Soria – Bass Regarding the follow-up to 2013's "Omen Of Disease", Wagner said: "BROKEN HOPE studio album number seven?! Un-fucking-believable! I'm floored at how amazing our new album turned out. The songs are relentless and violent and dark and heavy — and all from a fresh and ferocious place we haven't shared before. Moreover, thanks to my new studio and the stellar work of engineering/producing Jedi — Scott Creekmore — the production is on a sonic level like we've never had in our career.

"For me personally, I feel 'Mutilated And Assimilated' is my own finest hour as a guitarist and lyricist since I formed this band as teenager. I've never felt this inspired before. The album has my strongest riffage to date, it also has Leski riffage on a few songs, it has my best friends on it, and in a crazy twist, I used Jeff Hanneman's guitars to write the album with and used them to track with in honor of his influence on myself and the world of metal."

BLIND GUARDIAN: 'Mirror Mirror' Video From 'Live Beyond The Spheres' Album

German progressive power metal pioneers BLIND GUARDIAN will release a new concert album titled "Live Beyond The Spheres" on July 7 as a 3-CD and 4-LP box via Nuclear Blast. The set will include material recorded at various shows during the band's European tour in 2015. It will contain old classics, new tracks as well as songs that were very rarely performed during BLIND GUARDIAN's live shows.

BLIND GUARDIAN guitarist André Olbrich reveals why the time is right to release "Live Beyond The Spheres": "There's several different reasons why it's about time to release a live album. We've had a new rhythm section in the band — Frederik and Bahrend — for a couple of years now. Our interaction improved a lot by their joining and our songs developed a better groove and became more dynamic. The appearance of digital amp profilers and digital recording techniques also made it possible to create a fairly similar sonic image in different venues and to fulfil our image of what a perfect live album should be. Last but not least, we released three studio albums since our previous live album, and we didn't have any live recordings from our relatively current studio material. By compiling a three-disc package, we were able to create a very extensive and varied set list to reflect our thirty-year career with an optimal performances.

"We compiled one 'show' out of the best tracks from more than forty live performances, recorded during our European tour in 2015. That's how we pinned down the most beautiful and atmospheric moments on this medium," he adds.

The official video for the song "Mirror Mirror", taken from "Live Beyond The Spheres", can be seen below. André comments on the track: "'Mirror Mirror' is one of the biggest classics from BLIND GUARDIAN; known for being celebrated by both, band and fans, at the end of every live show."

BLIND GUARDIAN vocalist Hansi Kürsch speaks about the difficulties to create such an ambitious album: "In general, I would say that we've had a really good run on this tour and that nearly every show was perfect. But at the end of the day, after every bandmember has checked each and every song and concert of those 30 shows again and again. There were only like two or three versions of each song being suitable to be used for an album. We then had to decide between those last remaining versions, which would have been the most impressive one. This was a nearly endless task!"

He continues: "The songs finally chosen reveal such an energy that poissible smaller mistakes appeared to be totally unimportant for the evaluation. As soon as you have listened to the songs, you will know what I mean. They feel alive."

But the end result is well worth the effort. Hansi sums it up: "There is always something happening at each show, let's call it 'magic,' that is giving us all creeps. We are really satisfied when the people sing with us, have a good time and go back home happy."

MAX PORTNOY's NEXT TO NONE: 'The Apple' Video

The official video for the song "The Apple" from the Pennsylvania-based metal act NEXT TO NONE, featuring drummer Max Portnoy (son of former DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy), can be seen below. The track is taken from NEXT TO NONE's second album, "Phases", which will be released on July 7 through EMP Label Group in North America, and InsideOut Music in Europe. The band recently completed its first ever European tour alongside labelmates HAKEN and is preparing to support Mike Portnoy's SHATTERED FORTRESS.

Formed in 2012, in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania, the foursome released its well-received debut, "A Light In The Dark", in 2015 via InsideOut, before setting out to work on "Phases".

The new album features 12 tracks of powerful modern metal, recorded by the band at singer/keyboardist Thomas Cuce's home studio Battery Power Studios, and mixed by PERIPHERY bassist Adam "Nolly" Getgood.

Max Portnoy says: "It's a collective production, with all of the band having their say. We had strong ideas as to how we wanted this album to turn out, and if we'd brought in an outside producer, then this could have changed. So, it was best for us to stick together and follow our own vision."

The recording process started early last October, with drum parts being recorded at Neal Morse's Radiant Studios in Nashville; these sessions were engineered by Jerry Guidroz. Max says: "We then spent about four months at Thomas's home studio (Battery Powered Studios) doing the rest of the work; Thomas was the engineer for those sessions. We were in there every day until 3 a.m. I don't know how Kris coped, because he was going to school after we'd finished in the studio and getting just a couple of hours sleep."

He continues: "We're so excited to finally be releasing our new album. We feel it's a huge step forward for the band and shows a much heavier and much more technical side.

"This album is very special to us because it's the first time we recorded and self-produced our entire album. We were able to create music that is completely our own. Every note, every sound, every word, came from us and we can't wait for you all to hear it. I suppose you could say that we've done here is do more of everything we did before, but the greater experience we now have has helped us become better at what we want to do."

Cuce adds: "Working with Nolly on the mix has been one of the highlights of this recording for us. He captured the exact sound we wanted right from the start.

"Doing this upcoming tour with the SHATTERED FORTRESS will be a great opportunity to premiere this new material to an audience that will surely get where we're coming from."

"Phases" marks the recording debut of NEXT TO NONE guitarist Derrick Schneider, who came on a recommendation from band friend and former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal. Guitarist Ryland Holland departed NEXT TO NONE last year to attend Berklee College Of Music.

"Phases" track listing:

01. 1302. Answer Me03. The Apple04. Beg05. Alone06. Kek07. Clarity08. Pause09. Mr Mime10. Isolation11. Denial12. The Wanderer

EXIST Release “Fault’s Peaks” Music Video

Maryland-based technical death metal outfit, Exist, will release their Prosthetic Records debut, So True, So Bound, worldwide on June 9th. A video for the album track “Fault’s Peaks” is available for streaming below.

Frontman Max Phelps says, “”Fault's Peaks”, the album closer, is probably the best overall representation of So True, So Bound and our sound as it includes all of our elements from psychedelia to heavy, dissonant riffing with a little improvisation sprinkled in. We've jokingly referred to this song as the 'bleed etude', as the right hand pattern is very reminiscent of the Meshuggah song off obZen, no shame there. This song was (and continues to be live) a real bitch to pull off technically, but it was worth it as we're very proud of the composition itself."

The self-produced album was mixed by Nolly Getgood (Periphery) and features eight forward-thinking tracks clocking in at just over 60 minutes. The album's artwork was completed by Sebastian Jerke (Ahab, Zodiac).

Formed in the late '00s by Phelps, who has cut his teeth as a touring member of Cynic and Defeated Sanity, in addition to acting as frontman for Death To All (touring tribute band to Chuck Shuldiner), the band is rounded out with bassist Alex Weber (Jeff Loomis), and guitarist Mathew Rossa. Drummer Hannes Grossman (Necrophagist, Obscura) lent his hand on the So True, So Bound recording, stating "Exist is hands down one of the most talented and musically interesting young bands out there. Deciding to record with them was a no-brainer."

Phelps added, "In absence of a drummer, Hannes Grossman stepped in as our session guy and fully delivered.”

Pre-order the new album at this location.

BEARTOOTH Frontman: 'Depression And Anxiety Isn't Something You Just Get Away From'

Columbus, Ohio-based hard rockers BEARTOOTH have released a video for "Sick Of Me", directed by Marc Klasfeld and featuring live footage shot by Kevin Slack.

The documentary-style clip follows the stories of four individuals struggling with depression and how each has channeled their energy into something positive to overcome it.

"It's rare that I am able to create a music video that allows other people to get their story across with such a positive message," notes Klasfeld. "I really hope it can help anyone afflicted with depression in some way."

BEARTOOTH frontman Caleb Shomo comments on his own battle with the disease: "Depression and anxiety isn't something you just get away from. It's just inside you. For me, it's just always in my brain churning. It's about fighting it and overcoming it; you can't run away from it. You have to deal with it. This song is a big way to help. At least for me, music has been implanted in my body and what I've connected with. When I go on stage, everything goes away. If you can choose that you will not let depression and anxiety run your life, you're going to make it. It's your body and your life and your choice."

Adds the band: "We would like to thank our guests Ernesto, Katie, and Portia for sharing their stories of their struggles with depression.

"If you or someone you love is experiencing signs of depression, please visit NAMI.org. To support, you can purchase a limited-edition 'Sick Of Me' t-shirt here. 100% of net proceeds will be donated to NAMI."

The deluxe edition of BEARTOOTH's latest album, "Aggressive", will arrive on May 26. The set will contain six bonus tracks, including an acoustic version of "Hated". Also included are an acoustic version of "Sick Of Me", live takes of the album's title track and "Rock Is Dead" from a BBC session, as well as concert renditions of "Fair Weather Friend" and "King Of Anything", recorded in the band's hometown.

For "Aggressive", Shomo again retreated to his home studio to write, perform and produce the album's twelve tracks, re-teaming with John Feldmann (THE USED, BLINK-182) for a bit of songwriting contribution and enlisting David Bendeth (KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, PARAMORE) to mix the release.

THE 69 EYES Frontman JYRKI 69 Releases Video For 'Last Halloween' Solo Song

Goth rock icon Jyrki 69, lead vocalist for Helsinki, Finland's brooding metal band THE 69 EYES, has premiered a video for his first-ever solo song, "Last Halloween". The track is featured on his debut solo record, "Helsinki Vampire", which will be released on June 23 via Cleopatra Records. The video for "Last Halloween" features clips from the upcoming rock 'n' roll slasher/horror film "Halloween Pussytrap! Kill! Kill!" that has been described as "Saw" meets "Green Room". The film stars "21 Jump Street"'s Richard Grieco and the voice of MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine! "There's never enough anthems for Halloween and Halloween is every weekend you go to a gothic club!" says Jyrki 69. "So here's something for the clubs' dancefloors and so sing along while getting killed by your favorite Halloween movie monster. Oh, that October 15 that I mention in the song? That's my birthday! So guess my favorite month and season, haha…" "Helsinki Vampire" was produced, mixed, and mastered by longtime THE 69 EYES producer Johnny Lee Michaels. The record builds on the distinctive "goth n' roll" sound that THE 69 EYES honed over the course of a dozen albums while adding a more richly textured, darkly romantic atmosphere. In addition to "Last Halloween", other tracks from "Helsinki Vampire" will be used in upcoming movies, including the vampire thriller "Sunset Society" (starring Lemmy from MOTÖRHEAD). "Helsinki Vampire" will be released on both CD and vinyl. Track listing:

RADIATION ROMEOS: 'RADIATION ROMEOS' Video Released

"Radiation Romeos", the new video from RADIATION ROMEOS, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's self-titled debut album, which will be released on June 2 via Frontiers Music Srl. RADIATION ROMEOS is a new band formed by Parramore "Perry" McCarty, best known for being the frontman of legendary U.S. metal act WARRIOR and famed BILLY IDOL guitarist Steve Stevens's solo project ATOMIC PLAYBOYS (in fact, the inspiration for the name RADIATION ROMEOS came from a line in the song "Atomic Playboys").

Musically, the band moves in a melodic hard rock direction with solid, metallic edges thanks to the production of Michael Voss (PHANTOM 5, CASANOVA, MICHAEL SCHENKER), who also contributed to the songwriting. In the studio, Parramore sang all vocals with Dag Heyne handling guitars, Jogi Spittka on bass, and Gereon Homann laying down the drum work with gusto! Perry says: "RADIATION ROMEOS started when producer Michael Voss contacted me in San Diego through Facebook. A few days later, we had the record agreement with Frontiers, so the RADIATION ROMEOS album was soon under way.

"Our goal was to write great melodic rock songs. The album 'spans the globe' from the title track, power-rockin' 'Radiation Romeos', to some songs with a bit more grit like 'Castaways'. All the way to a beautiful ballad, 'Like An Arrow'. Something for everyone, if you will…

"The recording was so much fun and exciting for me. I couldn't wait to get up the following day to work on the next song!

"Michael is a wonderfully professional person with endless talent and the musicians super-cool guys and top players!" Parramore McCarty's career in music started when Robbin Crosby of RATT gave him his start singing in cover bands. His first major label album was "Fighting For The Earth" on Virgin Records in 1985 for the legendary heavy metal band WARRIOR. Steve Stevens's ATOMIC PLAYBOYS followed in 1989 on Warner Bros. Records. Then he returned to WARRIOR and also started gigging in the L.A. area with METAL FREQS and MONSTER TRAXX. "Radiation Romeos" track listing:

MYTHRA Release “A Call To All” Video

The British heavy metal veterans Mythra, that last month released a brand new studio album entitled Still Burning, have released a video clip to one of the new songs, entitled "A Call To All". The video was directed by Oliver Fowler and can be seen below.

Still Burning is available as a vinyl LP, CD, and digital download, and was released via High Roller Records. "It’s the first time the band has gone into the studio and recorded a complete album all in one go. We flew out to Poland in October 2016 to work with Bart Gabriel as producer. It was a superb experience and we all had a great time working with him. We were totally blown away when High Roller Records signed us to record the album and cannot thank them enough. Their support has been incredible!" says Mythra vocalist, Vince High. "We intended to stay true to our NWoBHM roots and achieved our goal. The eleven tracks have tons of power and energy, twin lead guitar breaks, driving bass, thunderous drums and big choruses. Everything fans would expect from a Mythra album", he adds.

The album’s cover artwork was painted by Roberto Toderico, an Italian artist known for his previous collaboration with Mythra, as well as with other notable NWoBHM acts such as Tygers Of Pan Tang and Quartz.

Mythra‘s reunion was a major event for many NWoBHM fans around the globe. Their legendary first recording from 1979, entitled The Death And Destiny EP", has cult status and stands alongside Iron Maiden‘s The Soundhouse Tapes released in the same year. The band has a great legacy, which has inspired and continues to inspire metal bands across the world - including Metallica, whose members have cited Mythra as one of the influences on their early recordings. Two years ago Mythra released the Warriors Of Time: The Anthology album, which featured a collection of classic tracks recorded between 1979 and 1982 along with five songs written and recorded in 2015 following the band’s reunion performances at Brofest UK and the Keep It True festival in Germany, both of which attracted fans from across Europe, the USA and South America.

World Entertainment Inc. and Powerglove recently announced a new partnership with Knife Fight Media, who will manage the next album cycle, which will mark the band's return to video game themes. Instead of releasing an album all at once, the band will be releasing one track a month for the next 13 months, culminating with a box set released on the final month of the album cycle.

Released on May 1st was "Mario Minor 2", check out the artwork below:

Following is a message from the band:

“Pay attention my supple lads, for the time has come for the long anticipated next chapter from the purveyors of video game metal. Behold the first track of PowerGlove’s new release, Continue?. Each month, I, Zebediah, master magician, will release Powerglove from their musty basements, so they may bestow upon you a new piece of pompous, penis-pummelling powermetal, infused with videogame nostalgia, and a hint of lime. Be wary, hold a keen eye, and clench firmly, because if you do not hear these songs, you shall forever miss the chance to join Powerglove in the halls of videogame Valhalla.”

On March 31st, "Kraid's Lair" was issued:

Hailing from the outer reaches of flavor country, the Powerglove woodwind quartet is the perfect choice for any bat mitzvah or funeral procession. Top scientists from Powerglove University in Prague have ascertained specific evidence from the children of Sanchez the Wise that Powerglove’s music is answer to domestic abuse, and gout. However, clinical trials, have yet to prove that Powerglove is in any way effective against dysentery. These four young men, full of bold and fresh flavor, as well as all requisite herbs and spices will dance for you until the siren call of the Great Mancuso beacons us home to the undying realms with the audacity of succulent ham.

In March of 2013, Powerglove posted a message to their fans saying that they have started working on “Continue?” the Video Game Themed follow up to 2010’s Saturday Morning Apocalypse, and are releasing that effort in 13 parts over the course of 2017 (a song a month). Powerglove are no strangers to taking a ridiculous and silly concept and translating it into metal excellence, and they can't wait to tour across the universe again and make their audiences headbang and laugh ‘till they soil themselves at the same time once again.

EXECRATION To Release Return To The Void Album In July; Music Video For Title Track Streaming

On July 14th, Norwegian death metallers Execration will release their new album, Return To The Void, via Metal Blade Records. Today, the band premieres the title track as the first single/video (streaming below) and starts the pre-order for the album on digi-CD and vinyl.

"Coming off of two double 12" vinyl albums, the first clear goal for writing Return To The Void was to deliver the same kind of dynamic and shifting song-writing in a more condensed to-the-point package", comments Execration. Stripping songs down to their essential core has been a driving force while writing, and it shows - there is not a wasted moment on the album. Ticking it at 42 minutes - a perfect fit for the vinyl format - the album takes the listener through a whirlwind of thrash, death, black, and even heavy metal, fast and slow parts, and the trademark Execration shifts in mood, tempo, and atmosphere.

"As with the previous two albums, we wanted to capture the feel of a live performance, so all the basic tracks (drums, guitars, bass) were recorded live in our rehearsal studio in Oslo over the course of a weekend. Vocals, synths, and various effects where recorded the following weeks with assistance from Andreas Tylden (One Tail, One Head / Altaar). The album was then mixed and mastered by Tom Kvålsvoll of Kvålsonic Labs."

Thematically, the album takes off into outer space, the world of dreams, and philosophic musings on time and space. The album's seven songs and two instrumental tracks are permeated with the mysteries of the universe, both in lyrical content and concept, and in the music itself. This theme is further brought to life by the magnificent art of Zbigniew M. Bielak that adorns the front cover.

SIX FEET UNDER / CANNABIS CORPSE Guitarist RAY SUHY Releases “Cerulean” Video

Guitarist Ray Suhy of the bands Six Feet Under, Cannabis Corpse and ex-East Of The Wall is set to release Fulmination, his first release since 2015's fusion record Tessellations. Suhy returns this time with an explosive, instrumental metal EP. Fulmination will be released June 16th via Cessation Engine Records. Check out the video for new track "Cerulean" below.

Suhy explains how Fulmination came to be: "Fulmination has been a long time in the making. Creating an instrumental guitar record that was riff heavy and had interesting melodies and solo sections has been in the back of my mind for about 7 years now.

“The drums, which were performed by 19-year-old Victor Montanaro, had been sitting on my hard drive for about two years. Victor was perfect for this project. He was easily able to navigate all the shifting time signatures and adapt my programmed drums into his own parts. During some down time after recording the new Cannabis Corpse record and between Six Feet Under tours I decided to finish this thing up.

“The meaning of Fulmination is "an expression of vehement protest" or "a violent explosion". I felt it was the perfect title for the song and the EP overall. I use music to express the many things I feel each day and sometimes that expression is an angry and violent one when I'm trying to process all of the insane things that are happening in the world today. As artists, we can either let what's happening around us be very upsetting and stifling to our creativity or we can flip that around and use that energy in a cathartic and positive way. Fulmination was a great for me in that way.”

Fulmination is available for pre-order in a various formats here.
