HELSOTT Unveil “Astralive” Video

On the eve of the release of their new EP, The Healer, Helsott premieres a new promo video for “Astralive”, directed by Sicocis guitarist Rafael Ortega (Ayreon, Blessed Curse).

“Filming ‘Astralive’ was a very enjoyable experience,” explains vocalist Eric Dow. “Raf was great to work with and Coop and I had fun scouting for a location in Arrowhead.  We want to thank Mike Grieg for letting us set up camp.”

“I love how cold the video came out,” adds drummer Cooper Dustman. “It was actually blistering hot that day, we all got sunburns!  Finding this remote spot in the mountains was adventurous considering the GPS can only show so much. We scouted and shot this within a few days, and we’re proud of the final product.”

Tracklisting:

"The Healer"
"Astralive"

The band will be supporting I Am Morbid (the new band from Morbid Angel’s David Vincent (vocals/bass) and Tim Yeung (drums) playing tracks from the first 4 classic Morbid Angel albums) and death metal legends Necrophagia.

“We have been working so hard to fulfill our goals,” states Eric Dow. “Taking our brand of Pagan Death Metal overseas has always been an ultimate goal for this band and now that we have the opportunity we will take full advantage of it. Europe… Helsott is finally coming!”

The run is immediately followed by the band taking part joining the west coast dates of the just announced Nomadic Folk Metal band Tengger Cavalry and virtuoso guitarist Felix Martin tour.

“We are excited to be joining our label mates, Tengger Cavalry, and the amazing Felix Martin on a west coast leg of their North American Raid,” explains Eric. “This is a unique line-up and fans are in for a treat!”

EXIST Release “Take My Picture” Music Video

Maryland-based technical death metal outfit, Exist, will release their Prosthetic Records debut, So True, So Bound, worldwide on June 9th. A video for the album’s opening track, “Take My Picture”, can be seen below.

The self-produced album was mixed by Nolly Getgood (Periphery) and features eight forward-thinking tracks clocking in at just over 60 minutes. The album's artwork, featured above, was completed by Sebastian Jerke (Ahab, Zodiac).

Guitarist/vocalist Max Phelps commented, "We were fortunate enough to work with a really great team throughout the entire process. Nolly crushed the mix, as expected, and we were fortunate enough to find an amazing visual artist, Sebastian Jerke, who wasn't afraid to jump down the rabbit hole with us, illustrating and adding some very specific concepts in his own beautiful style of painting".

Formed in the late '00s by Phelps, who has cut his teeth as a touring member of Cynic and Defeated Sanity, in addition to acting as frontman for Death To All (touring tribute band to Chuck Shuldiner), the band is rounded out with bassist Alex Weber (Jeff Loomis), and guitarist Mathew Rossa. Drummer Hannes Grossman (Necrophagist, Obscura) lent his hand on the So True, So Bound recording, stating "Exist is hands down one of the most talented and musically interesting young bands out there. Deciding to record with them was a no-brainer."

Phelps added, "In absence of a drummer, Hannes Grossman stepped in as our session guy and fully delivered.”

Tracklisting:

“Take My Picture”
“Happily Ever After (For A Week Or So…)”
“So True: Imitation’s Flattery”
“So Bound: One Of The Herd”
“Peer Prejudice”
“To Sever The Strings”

“Take My Picture” video:

One week prior to the album's release, Exist with kickstart a North American tour with Montreal-based progressive metal giants, Gorguts. Phelps will pull double duty on the run, as he will also be fronting for tourmates Defeated Sanity. No small feat for two such hard-hitting bands.

Chile’s HALF BLOOD Release "Self Exile" Video

Santiago, Chile based metal band Half Blood have released their official video for "Self Exile", the second single off of their self-titled, debut album due out later this year.

"We were really tired about the empty lyrics of pop music, even on the metal scene in some cases, there's so much happening around the world right now and it seems that it didn't care, true pain, true horror, but all that matters now are how big is your ass or how much money do you have playing like a fake gangsta, so fuck it, we choose Self Exile" - Half Blood.

Tracklisting:

“Adamas”
“Self Exile”
“Crisis”
“The Choice”
“El Origen”
“Forever”
“No Future”
“Not Your Own”
“Release”
“G.T.F.A.”

Half Blood was created in late 2014 when Manuel Castillo (ex-Dissors) and Pablo Abatte (Nueve Círculos) began the search for a new live and studio, professional sound. Javier Contreras (ex-Dissors) later joined the project and together they started composing Half Blood’s first songs.

In the process of finding Half Blood’s sound, Sebastián Aguilera (ex-Wormhole Project) and Francisco Arévalo (electric bass professor from Instituto ProJazz and session musician) joined the band. After writing 15 songs and with the intention of recording they got in touch Logan Mader (ex-Machine Head and producer for Gojira, Cavalera Conspiracy, Fear Factory, etc.) who showed interest in the project and took it on.

The Half Blood debut, self-titled album was recorded at Logan Mader Studio in September 2016. Due to personal differences, Javier Contreras stepped aside, giving way to Ismael Gutiérrez (ex-Sumission and Kitsune Metaru).

Half Blood will be released in mid-2017 and will be available in physical and digital format through iTunes, Spotify, Amazon.

Video Premiere: HATE's 'Numinosum'

"Numinosum", the new video from Polish extreme black/death metallers HATE, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's new album, "Tremendum", which will be released on May 5 via Napalm Records. The cover artwork was created by Daniel Rusilowicz and can be seen below.

The title "Tremendum" (eeriness and the fear of the holy) refers to an archaic notion of holiness, which is both good and evil. And you will have absolutely no doubt which part of it this band represents.

You will rediscover the band and on a new level, as they seem to reach into different musical resources, including progressive beats, ingenious song structures and a completely new sound, which is still authentically harsh and yet very powerful.

Buszko stated about the album artwork: "The drawing on the cover depicts a nighthawk (Polish: lelek), a nocturnal bird that was treated with great respect by Slavic tribes in pre-Christian times. Nighthawks were believed to bring souls to this world and take them away from dying people. In that case, they gathered in big numbers screeching for long hours. So they were called 'messengers of death.' As this album has different Slavic references, we chose Nighthawk as a symbol that best conveys its meaning."

"Tremendum" track listing:

01. Asuric Being02. Indestructible Pillar03. Svarog's Mountain04. Numinosum05. Fidelis Ad Mortem06. Into Burning Gehenna07. Sea Of Rubble08. Ghostforce09. Walk Through Fire10. Hearts Of Steel (Bonus Track)

The official lyric video for the song "Asuric Being" can be seen below. HATE leader Adam "ATF Sinner" Buszko stated about the track: "The lyric for 'Asuric Being' is inspired by Rudolf Steiner's philosophical concept of Asuras - Spirit of Darkness or spirit of self-hood (egoism). It has a lot of archaic references and a history that long pre-dates Christianity. A truly great concept that has become a big source of inspiration to me. As for the music, you may notice how much we have refined the formula since Crusade. 'Tremendum' is a profound, organic and adventurous album. We are really proud of it!"

The cover artwork can be seen below.

The "Fabuless" clip was filmed on April 18 in Los Angeles.

STONE SOUR singer Corey Taylor recently said about the full-length follow-up to "House Of Gold & Bones": "It is the best stuff that we've ever written. It's got a lot of different directions, but at its core it's very hard rock, almost in a modern/classic sense. There are some hints of punk in there. There's some cool hard rock/heavy metal. There's just all of these really cool elements that we've never maybe allowed ourselves to kind of go to."

Bassist Johnny Chow described the disc as "a straight rock and roll album" in an interview with Detroit radio station WRIF, adding, "It's just very groove-oriented, very melodic (with) big choruses. We've got some mellower songs on there too, which are equally just as amazing and have a lot of groove to them."

Chow called the record a "bit of a departure" from previous STONE SOUR albums.

"Hydrograd" was recorded at Sphere Studios in North Hollywood, California with producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX and STEEL PANTHER.

The band tracked the album live in the studio, cutting a total of 18 songs from which 14 or 15 will make the CD.

STONE SOUR will play the Rock On The Range Kick-Off Party on Thursday, May 18 at Express Live! in Columbus, Ohio. The event will start the Rock On The Range weekend, with METALLICA, SOUNDGARDEN and KORN headlining this year's festival.

STONE SOUR will also be special guests of KORN on the latter act's "Serenity Of Summer" trek, which starts on June 16 in Salt Lake City and wraps on August 2 in Cleveland.

Video Premiere: ALL THAT REMAINS's 'Madness'

The official video for "Madness", the title track of the eighth studio album from Massachusetts metallers ALL THAT REMAINS, can be seen below. The disc will be released on April 28 via Razor & Tie in the U.S. and Eleven Seven Music in Europe.

"Madness" was recorded at West Valley Studios in Woodland Hills, California with producer Howard Benson, who has previously worked with such acts as MOTÖRHEAD, PAPA ROACH, THREE DAYS GRACE, FLYLEAF, P.O.D. and HALESTORM.

ALL THAT REMAINS singer Phil Labonte told Revolver magazine about the band's approach on the new disc: "We wanted to mix it up a little bit and write from a vocal perspective this time. So I went to L.A. and came up with vocal ideas and melodies and then sent those chord progressions back to Oli and he wrote riffs in response to that. [Doing it this way] turned the record into a vocal album as opposed to a guitar album. And that affected some things. Like, there might be less intricacy in the riffs because they were written in response to my voice."

Labonte added that the majority of the new ALL THAT REMAINS songs feature "significant programming and electronic sounds. And that's something we wanted to have flowing through the entire record. So you're gonna hear that kind of influence on most of the tracks."

Asked by Ryan Daniels of of Rock 105.5, Carolina's Pure Rock radio station, about the "sellout" accusations that have been leveled at ALL THAT REMAINS for the more radio-friendly sound of the album's first single, "Madness", Labonte said: "If you're doing something — making music — and specifically catering to an audience that you have catered to or that has found something to attach to, is it a sellout to try and change and do something different? Or is it a sellout to be, like, 'Okay, this is the safe play where I know I can make my money?' It's, like, I know I that I can cater to this narrow group of people, and if we don't stray, these people will keep buying our records, these people will keep coming to our shows. Is it a sellout to be, like, 'I'm gonna try something different?'"

He continued: "People have been saying 'sellout' about us since 2006, since we put out 'The Fall Of Ideals'. We started doing clean choruses, and people were, like, 'Oh, sellout!' And it's, like, gimme a fucking break. We've always tried to push [the envelope] and change."

"Madness" track listing:

01. Safe House02. Madness03. Nothing I Can Do04. If I'm Honest05. Halo06. Louder07. River City08. Open Grave09. Far From Home10. Trust And Believe11. Back To You12. Never Sorry13. The Thunder Rolls

TILES Release “The Disappearing Floor” Video; Band Nominated For 2017 Detroit Music Awards; Shows With YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, FATES WARNING, KING’S X And More Confirmed

Detroit-based progressive rock quartet Tiles has issued a new video for the track "The Disappearing Floor”. Tiles' first major conceptual video was crafted to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the release their magnum opus Pretending 2 Run - the two-disc concept album hailed worldwide as one of the top progressive rock releases of 2016, making many year-end "best of" lists - and sees release as the band is nominated for several local music awards.

"The Disappearing Floor" video was shot in a historic industrial park in downtown Detroit and features a cameo appearance by legendary six-time-Grammy-nominated fusion guitarist Mike Stern as he recorded his incendiary solo for the song's long rideout.

Tiles guitarist Chris Herin states on collaborating with Stern: "What a remarkable experience! Mike was so easygoing and dedicated to delivering his best. It was very late and he had just flown in from Montana, but he was totally up for the session. We already had a great solo completed, but Mike said, "Do you mind if I do one more pass, just for fun?" And he nailed what you hear (and see). It's hard to believe he surpassed what we already had!  It was such a thrill to experience that level of musicianship and artistry up close."

Tiles has announced that Pretending 2 Run has garnered two nominations at the 2017 Detroit Music Awards. The band is nominated in the categories for "Outstanding National Small / Independent Label Recording" and "Outstanding Video / Limited Budget" for the song "Weightless”, streaming below:

Tiles' Pretending 2 Run features a plethora of guest appearances, including the first recorded music with both Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, Flying Colors, Dream Theater) and his son Max (Next To None), as well as well as music from Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), Adam Holzman (Steven Wilson), Mike Stern (Miles Davis), Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree) and Kim Mitchell. The record was produced by Terry Brown (Rush, Fates Warning) and is finished with artwork by Hugh Syme (Iron Maiden, Rush, Dream Theater).

Pretending 2 Run is available worldwide through Laser's Edge.

Tiles continues to book new live performances, with a headlining show in Chicago this Friday, April 28th, a show in Detroit May 19th supporting Yngwie Malmsteen, another hometown gig supporting Fates Warning alongside labelmates Infinite Spectrum on June 23rd, a support slot with King's X on July 7th, and much more.

Australia’s AS PARADISE FALLS Signs With Eclipse Records; Debut Album Set For Summer Release

Eclipse Records has announced the signing of Australian metallers, As Paradise Falls, to an exclusive worldwide deal.

While recording their album in 2015, the unexpected passing of their guitarist put everything on hold. Now, after clawing their way back from immense tragedy, As Paradise Falls have returned with a new album produced by Shane Edwards (Northlane, Trophy Eyes, Hellions) entitled Digital Ritual, which will be released this summer. To underestimate this band, would clearly be a mistake.

Just before signing with Eclipse, the band independently released “Starblind”, the first single from their upcoming new album. Watch the “Starblind” video below.

“On the day the single was released, I got an email from Chris at Eclipse,” stated guitarist Danny Kenneally. “Chris had previously followed us on Spotify, and we came up in his Release Radar. When he asked if we had any more material, I told him about the new album and he immediately offered to put it out via Eclipse.”

Within a few weeks, the band signed to Eclipse Records, and began preparing for the album’s release. Digital Ritual is currently slated for a summer release, with details available soon.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD Releases 'God Damn' Video

AVENGED SEVENFOLD's video for the song "God Damn" can be seen below. The clip was filmed in February with director Anders Rostad before a crowd of fan volunteers.

"There's a bunch of ideas that were thrown into the mixing bowl there," AVENGED SEVENFOLD singer M. Shadows told Billboard, which premiered the video, "but the main idea was to get fans involved and make sure the kids knew this is a song full of energy first and foremost — 'hey, this is a record we can wrap our heads around. It's cool live stuff. It's a rockin' song' — but at the same time, we wanted the technological hint in there, so as the video progresses you start seeing things glitching out and all of a sudden the world turns digital. And by the end, there's a little nod to the lyrics; you see an eyeball kind of in there as an Easter egg, which is kind of big brother watching what we do the whole time as the humans turn into a digital world."

AVENGED SEVENFOLD will join METALLICA for the latter's "WorldWired" 2017 North American tour. Produced by Live Nation, the summer's hottest ticket kicks off May 10 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland with openers VOLBEAT.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD is touring in support of its seventh album, "The Stage", which was given a surprise release at the end of October with almost no promotion beforehand.

"The Stage" debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 album chart back in November following its surprise release. Co-produced by the band and Joe Barresi, the disc features eleven panoramic tracks tied together by an Artificial Intelligence theme. Inspired by the writings of Carl Sagan and Elon Musk, the album is the band's first thematic release. While the term "AI" conjures up images of robots and fantasy films, the band steers clear of a science fiction storyline. Instead, the album sees them taking a futurist's look at the accelerated rate at which technology's intelligence is expanding and what that means — good and bad — for the future.

The album's epic 15-minute-plus closing track, "Exist", features a guest appearance by award-winning astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson giving a spoken-word performance he penned specifically for the album.

NAD SYLVAN’s The Bride Said No Album To Include Guest Appearances From STEVE HACKETT, TONY LEVIN And More; “The Quartermaster” Music Video Streaming

The Bride Said No, the new album from Steve Hackett and Agents Of Mercy vocalist Nad Sylvan, will be released on May 26th via InsideOut Music. A video for the album track “The Quartermaster” is available for streaming below.

In 2015, Nad Sylvan impressed everyone with his fine conceptual solo album Courting The Widow. A vampiric tale wrapped in a 17th century atmosphere, this definitively marked out the talented Swede as a surging star in the progressive rock world. Now, Sylvan is back with The Bride Said No, an album that continues the fascinating plot, albeit with a far more extravagant musical palette.

“Musically, the previous record was very much located in the 1970s, and you can still hear a little of that here”, comments Sylvan. “But this one is a lot more modern sounding and diverse. In fact, I would say it is closer to musical theatre than anything else.”

Sylvan plays the keyboards and much of the guitar on the album. He recorded in his home studio from September 2016 to January 2017, having spent the previous few months collating the material. But the album does have some special guests appearing throughout including Steve Hackett, Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel), Jonas Reingold (The Flower Kings, Kaipa, Karmakanic), drummer Nick D'Virgilio (Spock’s Beard)! Sylvan is especially proud of collaborating with female vocalists Jade Ell, Tania Doko and Sheona Urquhart. You can hear how this works on both the title track and also “What Have You Done”.

While traces of classic Genesis are partially present in the playful and highly variable arrangements of “The White Crown” or the emotional depth of the magnificent ballad “When The Music Dies”, references to Marillion, Fish solo, and even a bit of funk (“The Quartermaster”) can also be discovered on this versatile sophomore album. The double vinyl includes an etching on Side D as well as the CD as extra.

Tracklisting:

“Bridesmaids”
“The Quartermaster”
“When The Music Dies”
“The White Crown”
“What Have You Done”
“Crime Of Passion”
“A French Kiss In An Italian Cafe”
“The Bride Said No”

YE BANISHED PRIVATEERS Launch Official 360° Video For “First Night Back In Port”

Ye Banished Privateers, who recently signed a worldwide record deal with Napalm Records, will released third studio album, First Night Back In Port, on June 30th. An official 360° video for the album’s title track is available for streaming below.

Ye Banished Privateers takes you 300 years back in time for an imaginary journey through the harsh life at sea during the early 18th century. With songs inspired by traditional Irish and Scandinavian folk music, acting and elaborate historical clothing the privateers tell a story about the rough sailor's life, lived on the other side of the law - and the fight against oppression and nationalism.

Together, the nearly 30 crew members take turns to go on tour and plunder, and with around a dozen sailors on stage no two shows are ever the same. The mix of rude folk and punk music invites you to dance and sing along, while the gripping ballads will make the toughest pirate heart soft.

Says the band about their recent signing with Napalm Records: "Spring has finally come to the Gulf of Botnia, and with the rotting ice we are now able to set sail with some extraordinary good news onboard. We are immensely proud to announce that our chaotic band of Pirates will be joining forces with Napalm Records, to release our next album First Night Back In Port. Lock up the taverns and hide away the Rum, June 30th in the year of our lord 1717 (2017), this Pandora's box of ear worms goes worldwide! Putting our pen and ink to the chart of Napalm Records means procuring the fire power to bring the forces of Europe to a total blockade. And by trading our royalties for rum and cherry beer, we estimate that we will save a fortune and a half in the years to come."

Tracklisting:

“Annabel”
“A Night At The Schwarzer Kater”
“First Night Back In Port”
“All The Way To Galway”
“Cooper's Rum”
“Skippy Aye Yo”

RADIATION ROMEOS Feat. Former WARRIOR Singer PARRAMORE 'PERRY' MCCARTY: 'Ocean Drive' Video

Frontiers Music Srl will release RADIATION ROMEOS' self-titled debut album on June 2. RADIATION ROMEOS is a new band formed by Parramore "Perry" McCarty, best known for being the frontman of legendary U.S. metal act WARRIOR and famed BILLY IDOL guitarist Steve Stevens's solo project ATOMIC PLAYBOYS (in fact, the inspiration for the name RADIATION ROMEOS came from a line in the song "Atomic Playboys").

The official video for the song "Ocean Drive", taken from "Radiation Romeos", can be seen below. Musically, the band moves in a melodic hard rock direction with solid, metallic edges thanks to the production of Michael Voss (PHANTOM 5, CASANOVA, MICHAEL SCHENKER), who also contributed to the songwriting. In the studio, Parramore sang all vocals with Dag Heyne handling guitars, Jogi Spittka on bass, and Gereon Homann laying down the drum work with gusto! Perry says: "RADIATION ROMEOS started when producer Michael Voss contacted me in San Diego through Facebook. A few days later, we had the record agreement with Frontiers, so the RADIATION ROMEOS album was soon under way.

"Our goal was to write great melodic rock songs. The album 'spans the globe' from the title track, power-rockin' 'Radiation Romeos', to some songs with a bit more grit like 'Castaways'. All the way to a beautiful ballad, 'Like An Arrow'. Something for everyone, if you will…

"The recording was so much fun and exciting for me. I couldn't wait to get up the following day to work on the next song!

"Michael is a wonderfully professional person with endless talent and the musicians super-cool guys and top players!" Parramore McCarty's career in music started when Robbin Crosby of RATT gave him his start singing in cover bands. His first major label album was "Fighting For The Earth" on Virgin Records in 1985 for the legendary heavy metal band WARRIOR. Steve Stevens's ATOMIC PLAYBOYS followed in 1989 on Warner Bros. Records. Then he returned to WARRIOR and also started gigging in the L.A. area with METAL FREQS and MONSTER TRAXX. "Radiation Romeos" track listing:
