Massachusetts metal veterans, Within The Ruins, have debuted a music video for their new track "Beautiful Agony". “It has a darker vibe than most of our previous material and this video totally conveys that,” says guitarist Joe Cocchi.
Directed by Justin Reich, this is the first music video being released from the forthcoming LP. “Justin Reich did an amazing job with the video!”
"Beautiful Agony" and the previously released "Death Of The Rockstar" are available on all major streaming services and will be offered as an iTunes instant gratification tracks. Fans who pre-order the album today will get both tracks immediately as a download.
Within The Ruins will release Halfway Human on Friday, March 3rd via Entertainment One (eOne) in North America and SPV overseas. The band recorded the new effort from their own studio with producer and guitar player Joe Cocchi at the helm. Vocal production took place at Zing studios in Westfield, MA with Jim Fogarty (Killswitch Engage, The Devil Wears Prada).
"The writing process was a bit different for this album," says Cocchi. "We took a step back and kind of reviewed some of our older material. Typically we'd rush and blast out a group of songs and then hit the studio. At the time it felt right. And It had a more organic feel. Now because of a combination of maturity and honestly just feeling sick of the same old formula, we really focused on creating something different sounding."
Halfway Human will be the band's followup to the critically acclaimed Phenomena LP released in 2014. Cocchi concludes, "We went back to a more organic style of writing and production. I personally was finally able to abandon a lot of my writing habits or 'rules,' if you will. No more 'oh, that part doesn't really sound like us, have to change that,' type of bullshit. Doing that created a fresher sound. This is the most raw and extreme sounding material we've ever written. Keep an eye out for studio blogs and more updates."
Within The Ruins maintain an emphasis on showmanship but with diversity, smartly sidestepping predictable structures and contrived breakdowns. Born and bred in the same heavy metal rich Northeast soil as New Wave Of American Heavy Metal progenitors Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, Unearth and Shadows Fall and weaned on the dark sounds of classic death metal, the technical melodicism of Scandinavia and the precision staccato crunch of Meshuggah, Within The Ruins have busted their collective ass to carve out a unique identity for themselves from those ingredients.
Within The Ruins are refreshingly authentic, feverishly committed and have proven that they will endure. Filled with power, deserving of utter respect, armed with concise compositions and technical might, Within The Ruins will not be stopped.

Swedish metal band, Zonetripper, have released a music video for “Disconnected”, the first single from their debut album, due for release later this year. The video was shot by Ninja Agborn in support of Standing Rock and the water protectors there - to commemorate the Wounded Knee massacre. Watch below:
Zonetripper was formed by metal and rock producer Fredrik Reinedahl, known for producing, engineering and mixing bands like Solstafir, Peter Dolving, Opeth, In Flames, Burst, Gadget and more, with the idea to reinvigorate the metal scene by taking what he learned from growing up as a metal fan and fusing it together into a something fresh, something never heard before. Everything from blues to thrash metal, from psychedelia to pop. There are no limits, that was the basic idea.
Songs came together quickly, but forming the band took some time. Numerous singers have passed the door, among them Peter Dolving from The Haunted (now in I Am Fire and Dress The Dead) and Krummi Bjorgvins (Legend).
Now the band consists of some known faces from the Gothenburg metal and punk scene. The bass is handled by none other than Martyrdöd vocalist Mikael Kjellman. Kalle Persson from Skitsystem joined Zonetripper on drums last spring, together with keyboard player Niklas Abrahamsson. The band is fronted by vocalist Anette Lith, who has a background as a singer and dancer in musicals and shows across the globe.
The band have recorded it's first album and is looking to release it in 2017. In the meantime, the band will do as much touring as possible.
The release of the self-titled debut album from Finnish rockers One Desire is scheduled for March 24th. The music video for first single, "Hurt”, can be seen below.
One Desire was started in 2012 by drummer Ossi Sivula. A couple of years were spent writing songs and making demos with different musicians and friends with an aim to create music that could change the world. Various musicians came and went along the way, but in 2014 things started to click when they met Jimmy Westerlund (Negative, Sturm und Drang, Joel Madden of Good Charlotte, Pitbull, etc.), who has several platinum and gold albums to his credit as a producer, guitarist, and songwriter. He had just moved back to Finland after a stint in Los Angeles and the band hired him to produce some songs.
After recording three songs with a new musical direction, they managed to attract the attention of Serafino Perugino, owner and head of A&R at Frontiers Music Srl, but, at this point the band needed a great singer. After trying out some different options, Jimmy suggested his long time friend Andre Linman from the band Sturm und Drang (who had sold over 100,000 records and gone platinum and 2x gold in Finland) who had recently decided to go on hiatus. Andre got together for a couple of sessions with the guys and after writing a couple new songs together, the style and sound that was about to become One Desire was born. Ossi and Andre asked Jimmy to join the band in 2016 and this is the album that was born from that collaboration. Also, not long after this happened, the very talented Jonas Kuhlberg (Paul Di'Anno, Cain's Offering, MyGrain) was brought on and he became the last link in the chain.
This kickass new lineup perfectly captures the original vision for the band and continues upon Linman's and Westerlund's successful legacies. Musically, the band draws musical influences from classic rock bands like Journey, Toto, and Def Leppard, but also lots of heavier, more modern bands. “Our sound is very melodic, slightly pop-ish at times, but still based on a heavy rock sound,” says singer Andre Linman.
After Jimmy brought in the song “Hurt”, the band felt that that they had taken it to the next level. Andre wrote the beautiful ballad, “This Is Where The Heartbreak Begins” plus many other songs and at that time, One Desire started to find the right direction for Ossi's rocker, “Do You Believe”. Finally, in mid-2016, the band felt they finally were musically locked in and had the material to make an album that they could honestly stand behind and love beyond a shadow of a doubt.
“After the album is released we will be touring heavily, so stay tuned for some shows!” concludes Linman. 2017 will be a fantastic year as the journey of One Desire just begins!

"Beyond The Matrix", the new video from Dutch symphonic metallers EPICA, can be seen below. The clip was produced by Jens De Vos and his team at Panda Productions.
"Beyond The Matrix" is taken from EPICA's latest album, "The Holographic Principle", which was released on September 30 via Nuclear Blast.
Commented EPICA frontwoman Simone Simons: "The energy that lives within 'Beyond the Matrix' is extremely contagious. It will sweep you off your feet when the melodies enter your mind.
"The video embodies the spirit and liveliness of EPICA.
"Transcend together with us and shine past the sky" EPICA guitarist Mark Jansen added: "'Beyond The Matrix' is one of my favorite tracks to play live from our new album, as it makes the crowd go wild, so I'm happy we are releasing a video of it.
"We have managed to catch the energy of the song and translate it into images (and words).
"The song is dealing about us humans, being caught in a matrix (an illusion) because of our excessive thinking. We have lost control over our lives and accept the illusion as 'the one reality.' But if we manage to free ourselves from those shackles and become masters of our thoughts again, we can make a huge step forward in collective consciousness and will be able to look beyond the borders of our matrix.
"Fasten your seatbelts and enjoy the ride!!!"
Simons recently told Metal-Rules.com about the lyrical themes covered on "The Holographic Principle": "It isn't a concept CD as the story is not in a chronological order of events from beginning to the end. Some songs deviate from the idea.
"'The Holographic Principle' is, basically, that we are living in a hologram. With the new technology and virtual reality glasses we realize reality is generated so perfectly that you can no longer tell the difference, so can reality also be a hologram?"
Simone also talked about the production on "The Holographic Principle" and how important it is get the right sound when it comes to symphonic metal. She said: "I think the sonics would be equally important to any band, not just a symphonic metal band like us. Every band wants to songs to sound the best they possibly can on the CD. That is why you have to record parts a million times in order for them to come as perfect as possible.
"When it came time for recording my vocals, our producer said that he doesn't want to overdo it as we don't want to lose the emotion in my vocals. That is something you cannot fix in editing.
"Overall, production-wise, we went bigger, because we recorded with more instruments as we had a good budget to finance it. We were in the studio for about five months recording. The writing took about a year; we had 27 songs to choose from when we were done. Then we had to narrow it down to 18 songs, which we recorded and mixed. Twelve went to the CD and the remaining six are in the corner waiting patiently to be released." After finishing a successful North American tour last month, EPICA will kick off a massive European tour with POWERWOLF and BEYOND THE BLACK this week.
My Kingdom Music, in collaboration with Sad Sun Music, will release the vinyl version of the new Crest Of Darkness album, Welcome The Dead, on January 13th. The album will see the co-production of Metal Age Productions, Kristallblut Records and Supreme Music Creations. This masterpiece of horror black metal will include a bonus track, "Drink My Blood”, and will be released in a gatefold double LP format, limited to 600 copies.
Crest Of Darkness have released a video for "My Black Bride" a special song that Ingar Amlien wanted to dedicate to his wife Laila. It is a particularly unusual choice for the band, not only because it is an instrumental, something the band has only recorded on two occasions over the years, but it is also a melodic, deeply atmospheric piece, totally different from the band's usual black/death metal sound. The reasons for creating such an "out of character" piece are quite fascinating, and are explained on My Kingdom Music site at this location..
The video itself can be seen below.
Tracklisting:
“Welcome The Dead”
“Chosen By The Devil”
“Scourged And Crucified”
“My Black Bride”
“Borrowed Life”
“The Almighty”
“Memento Mori”
“The Noble Art”
“Katharsis”
East coast shock rockers, American Grim, have signed a worldwide deal with Entertainment One (eOne Music) / Rocktagon Worldwide Music with plans to release their first full length, Freakshow, on February 24th. A music video for the album’s title track can be found below.
“I can't begin to express how excited we are to debut this project at eOne,” says vocalist Ryan Healy. “We've worked relentlessly among ourselves, as well as with our producer Zardonic, to build an album we're confident has a great shot at striking a nerve in rock.”
For the album artwork, the band commissioned artist Tyler Reitan and couldn’t be happier.
Title track “Freakshow” is available on all streaming services today and will be an iTunes "instant gratification track," meaning fans who pre order the album will get "Freakshow" as a download immediately.
Healy continues, “There's an astounding problem in America with political correctness and all these taboo issues that are far more real than people think, all being swept under the rug. We have an entire generation of kids overly medicated and under educated that no longer know the difference between their own opinions and the manipulation of mass media. Freakshow isn't just an album, it's the current state of America, and we're looking forward to taking it on across the country.”

Sliptrick Records have announced the signing of UK metal five-piece Bleed Again along with releasing their new video for "Through My Eyes", which was filmed during their performance at Mammothfest 2016. Bleed Again have also announced that they will release their debut album Momentum through Sliptrick Records on May 1st.
The Worthing five-piece are one of the freshest modern metal bands to come from the South of the United Kingdom in years. Boasting a style that blends metalcore with New Wave Of American Heavy Metal, Bleed Again have drawn comparisons to the likes of genre heavyweights Killswitch Engage in terms of sound and live energy.
In the last few years, Bleed Again have completed two successful UK tours plus countless other shows including support slots with the likes of Soil, Darkest Hour and Devil Sold His Soul. As well as featuring at Mammothfest regularly, the quintet even delivered one of the best and most memorable performances of the entire festival in 2016, making the video a nice momentum to take away from the event.
The video combines visuals from their recent live performance at Mammothfest 2016, a little sprinkling of video trickery and the furious, scorching music that epitomize the band. "Through My Eyes" is the first taster taken from the upcoming album Momentum.
The new album will showcase some of the finest new metal on the UK scene. However, just like legends Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed and Trivium, the best way to witness Bleed Again is at any one of their ferocious live shows.

Fusing together the rawest elements of crust, powerviolence, d-beat, and grind, The Drip rips and ravages through thirteen frenzied tracks, full of slaughterhouse riffage, lightning fast blastbeats, and pulverizing breakdowns. Produced by Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust and mastered by Brad Boatright (Skeletonwitch, Gatecreeper, Weekend Nachos), The Haunting Fear Of Inevitability is a new declaration of intensity that is sure to set the underground ablaze.
The band commented on the impending release, "The Haunting Fear Of Inevitability represents our progression, and continues to blur genre lines, and define our sound. Laying down the ground work for our future material to come."

Nuclear Blast will release BLACK STAR RIDERS' third studio album, "Heavy Fire", on February 3. The official video for the disc's second single, "Testify Or Say Goodbye", can now be seen below.
BLACK STAR RIDERS frontman Ricky Warwick comments on the track: "Power, glory, rock n roll with a whole lotta soul. You gotta testify or say goodbye. Tell me no secrets, tell me no lies. Get up on the stand look me straight in the eye. You gotta testify or say goodbye... Kinda says it all, really!"
BLACK STAR RIDERS' previous album, "The Killer Instinct", was released in 2015 to widespread critical acclaim and went on to score multiple radio playlists. A solid year of worldwide touring culminated in December 2015 in an U.K. arena tour alongside DEF LEPPARD and WHITESNAKE. 2016 saw BLACK STAR RIDERS — Ricky Warwick, Scott Gorham, Damon Johnson, Robert Crane and Jimmy DeGrasso — return to the studio with "The Killer Instinct" producer Nick Raskulinecz (RUSH, FOO FIGHTERS, KORN), at his studio just outside Nashville. The resultant album is BLACK STAR RIDERS' most accomplished work to date. From the immediate riffs of album opener "Heavy Fire" to the instant hooks of first single "When The Night Comes In" (see lyric video below), from the dirty bass groove of "Thinking About You Could Get Me Killed" to the familiar and trademark dual guitars of Gorham and Johnson on "Testify Or Say Goodbye", this is an album that will further cement BLACK STAR RIDERS' reputation as one of the world premiere rock acts. "Angst, passion, power, glory, love, truth, lies, loyalty, questions that begged to be answered. There's a guitar army coming…and it's bringing the 'Heavy Fire'!" says Warwick. "Not many new bands get to record three albums these days," adds Gorham. "Without doubt, this is BSR's best album so far. We had a great time recording it and can't wait to play the new songs live on tour in March." Following on from their critically acclaimed albums "All Hell Breaks Loose" and "The Killer Instinct", which have paved the way for BLACK STAR RIDERS to be recognized as a power force in the modern day of rock and roll, "Heavy Fire" will be once again released by Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The band have also brought in PledgeMusic, one of the most innovative and successful platforms of the modern music world, to give fans extra special product and experiences to go along with the album's release. Graham Bonnet is a rock legend. With a pedigree that includes RAINBOW, MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, ALCATRAZZ and IMPELLITTERI, he is one of the finest vocalists of his generation. His is a recognizable and unique voice on a number of classic hard rock albums, including RAINBOW's "Down To Earth" (1979), MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP's "Assault Attack" (1982), ALCATRAZZ's "No Parole For Rock 'n' Roll" (1983) and "Disturbing The Peace" (1985) and IMPELLITTERI's "Stand In Line" (1988). The recently formed GRAHAM BONNET BAND features Bonnet on lead vocals, Beth-Ami Heavenstone on bass, South American sensation Conrado Pesinato on lead guitar, ex-ALCATRAZZ man Jimmy Waldo on keyboards, and Mark Zonder (known for his acclaimed work with WARLORD and FATES WARNING) on drums. "The Book" offers 11 new songs where Bonnet lays down his legendary vocals over a selection of hard rock tunes that are chock full of great hooks and melodies.
"The songs on the album are very similar to what I have done in the past with RAINBOW, ALCATRAZZ and MSG," says Graham. "I think this is what people want to hear from me and won't be disappointed." Graham Bonnet is in fine form and the album is easily his best in decades: eleven new tracks that will blow hard rock fans away! The album also includes a bonus disc featuring re-recorded versions of some of the most well-known classics he has sung in his solo career and with RAINBOW, ALCATRAZZ, MSG and IMPELLITTERI. The GRAHAM BONNET BAND has spent twelve months touring solidly around the world, with performances at several major European festivals including an acclaimed set at Sweden Rock Festival.

On August 19, 2015, SLIPKNOT invited fans to film the band performing the song "Before I Forget" from their point of view at the Red Rocks show in Morrison, Colorado. The footage has finally been compiled and has been edited for the clip below.
SLIPKNOT percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan recently confirmed to Metal Insider that he and guitarist Jim Root will get together in early February to begin writing new music, but will not book any studio time just yet to start recording the follow-up to 2014's ".5: The Gray Chapter". That disc ended a six-year drought between SLIPKNOT albums during which founding bassist Paul Gray passed away in 2010 and drummer Joey Jordison was dismissed in 2013.
With SLIPKNOT closing out the touring cycle for ".5: The Gray Chapter", singer Corey Taylor will be regrouping with his other band, STONE SOUR, to record a new set in early 2017.
Crahan, meanwhile, is pursuing a career as a feature film director. His first effort, "Officer Downe", arrived in theaters and on-demand platforms in November.
German Celtic metal act, SuidAkrA, checked in with the following update on New Year's Day:
"Running out of time and money in the studio, we've hired the first official SuidAkrA cover band called The Evil Cockroaches to shoot an official video for us. We were shocked when we saw the finished clip of 'Undaunted'. Almost one year later we think it's time to share this piece of art with our SuidAkrA family. Enjoy this clip and have an awesome 2017."
With their second album, The Longed-For Reckoning, Fall Of Carthage prove their intentions are serious. After numerous live shows within the last few months, it’s clear this is not just a side-project of Arkadius Antonik (SuidAkrA, Realms of Odoric) and Martin Buchwalter (Perzonal War), who pulled Sascha Aßbach in front of the mic after a long absence from the music scene.
Sixteen songs represent a genre-defying creativity and joy for experimentation, as well as, their love for detail and natural sounds. Those who expect programmed blast-beats and typical thrash or metalcore structures will be in for a surprise. What you get is much more. Their sound can be described somewhere between groove metal, hardcore and rap without having the feeling of simply throwing sounds together. The versatility of Sascha’s vocals is convincing in its full spectrum. Thanks to the solid and elaborate songwriting that all band members were involved in from the beginning, the new tracks are catchy without getting boring.
Fall Of Carthage have grown together musically, and so The Longed-For Reckoning will surely be a highlight for 2017. Like the debut, Behold, this album was produced at Gernhart Studio in Troisdorf, and promises a fat-ass sound with superb mixing. Be on the lookout for The Longed-For Reckoning on January 27th, 2017 via MDD Records.
SuidAkrA recently released a video for “Braving The End”, a track from their newest album, Realms Of Odoric, released back in May 2016. The new video can be found below.

Norwegian Viking metallers Helheim are launching the year by giving fans the first taste of their upcoming ninth full-length album, landawarijaR, which is scheduled release via Dark Essence Records on January 20th.
The band has revealed the first of two videos by Guilherme Henriques, which illustrate tracks from the album. The first video is for the track "Baklengs mot intet", and this will be followed by "Ymr", which will be revealed at a later date.
The video for "Baklengs mot intet" stars Helheim, Fernando Leiras, Pedro Roquette and Marina Oliveira, and was directed by Guilherme Henriques. First Assistant on the project was Catarina Rocha and lights by Kirsti Rosseland. Makeup by Joana da Silva and Florisa Nogueira.
Talking about the ideas behind the two videos, Helheim had this to say: "The videos, "Baklengs mot intet" and "Ymr", give the best illustration of the concept behind the new Helheim project, landawarijaR. Whilst the theme of "Ymr" is about defining yourself through Norse arts and works - making the metaphorical climb of Yggdrasil in other words, the theme of "Baklengs mot Intet" describes the inner battle, the bottomless despair and endless futility experienced by a Walker of the Way. "Ymr", therefore, describes the ascent and the letting go from the top, whilst "Baklengs mot intet" describes the fall and its possible implications.
"Through these songs Helheim are continuing their exploration and modern interpretation of the darker aspects of the North-European pre-Christian culture, capturing the spirit of the Norse heritage in ways that have eluded both researchers and archaeologists".
"Baklengs mot intet" itself is also available as a digi single on iTunes, on Tidal, and on Spotify. The track is available for immediate download for anyone pre-ordering either the CD or LP version of landawarijaR from Bandcamp.
LandawarijaR will contain seven tracks, all of which bear the hallmarks of Helheim's traditional Norse heritage. A heritage of which they are rightly proud and to which they have remained true, eschewing the temptation to turn themselves into the Viking parodies that so many bands have espoused. With landawarijaR, Helheim use their lyrics to express the need to include the Norse Heritage into modern life by emphasizing the importance, mystery and never-changing wonder of the Runes.
Just as Helheim's raunijaR followed in the same vein as its predecessor Asgards Fall, landawarijaR continues where Heidindomr ended. All four albums incorporate the use of timpani and horns, and the new album also has a number of artists performing guest vocals including William Hut, Morten Egeland (Narrowhead), Pehr Skjoldhammer (Alfahanne), Bjornar E Nilsen (Vulture Industries, Black Hole Generator) and Ottorpedo.
With music by by H'grimnir and V'gandr, lyrics by V'gandr and artwork by H'grimnir, landawarijaR was recorded at the Conclave and Earshot Studios in Bergen, and produced by Bjornar E. Nilsen (Vulture Industries, Black Hole Generator) and mastered by Herbrand Larsen (Enslaved).
Tracklisting for landawarijaR is as follows:
"Ymr"
"Baklengs mot intet"
"Rista blodørn"
"landawarijaR"
"Ouroboros"
"Synir af heidindomr"
"Enda-dagr"
landwarijaR will be available on CD, vinyl and digital formats, and is now available to pre-order, along with related merchandise, at Dark Essence Records, Bandcamp, and at the US webstore, here.
Electric Guitars, one of the most popular hard rock bands from Scandinavia, recently finished the recordings of their third album Rock'n'Roll Radio at Medley Studio, Copenhagen (Mike Tramp, Glenn Hughes, Artillery). This time around fans will be offered quite a different album from Electric Guitars. Jacob "Cobber" Binzer, guitar player from D-A-D, has produced the album and his brother and D-A-D frontman Jesper Binzer is screaming his guts out on the first single "Headless Chicken”. Check out the official video for the track below.
"We have made our most complete album so far and this is 100% due to the fact we have opened the door for someone outside to produce us this time. We agreed to let Jacob ‘Cobber’ Binzer have the final say under the whole process and this has made a major different for Electric Guitars,” Soren Andersen says.
Mike Vandborg adds "We decided to name the album Rock’n’Roll Radio, simply because we miss rock music in the radio. It could might as well have been titled More Riffs To The People!"
Rock'n'Roll Radio will be released internationally on Mighty Music/Target Group Friday, February 10th, 2017 on LP, CD and digital. The "Headless Chicken" single is due on January 1st 2017.

DeFox Records and Invincible Records have announced the debut album of death metal band from Iraq, Dark Phantom.
The album titled Nation Of Dogs contains ten songs in vein of melodic death metal. The digital release is now available on every worldwide webstores like iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Deezer, Google Music, and more.
Dark Phantom’s idea began in Kirkuk, Iraq late in 2007. The impression was to reach their dreams in western music and to express the inferior circumstances in the city, and explain it to the universe.
In 2008, the band was able to start up again and started rehearsal, despite all the dangers. Death was a consequence of being caught playing this music in an Al Qaeda controlled situation. It was a volatile situation.
Dark Phantom could then hardly compose their first song, before there was a decline in the band's musical direction. They turned to cover songs, and, at the same time, worked on original music.
In 2011, the band played their first concert in the city of Kirkuk. It was unforeseen, that under the same circumstances (volatile aggression, anti-metal music “laws”, etc.) a crowd came to see them and news of the event rocked the small city.
After the band reputation was spread in the area, exactly in 2013 they started getting invitations to perform live concerts in different cities and indeed they responded, making three successful concerts in three different cities.
In 2016 finally the band began a negotiation with an international label (DeFox Records) which has led to the launch of Nation Of Dogs in the world and spread Dark Phantom to Western metallers and in the music market.

Dan Reed Network has released a new video for the track “Champion”, featured on the new album, Fight Another Day, out now. Watch below.
Fight Another Day marks the return of one of the most infectious and gifted bands to come out in the melodic rock world in the second part of the 80's. The new album was recorded primarily in the home town of members of DRN, Portland, Oregon, while most of the writing process took place in Dan Reed's private studio in Prague in the Czech Republic, where Reed currently resides with his family. Demos were sent back and forth between Derek Shulman (A&R for Frontiers), Brion James, Melvin Brannon Jr. and Rob Daiker, making notes and refining the songs over great distances via the internet. This process was not unlike with DRN composed songs back in the late 80's and early 90's as Dan Reed used to demo out songs on his Akai 12 track machine and bring the songs into rehearsals where the band members would then arrange and flesh out the band's classic 'funk rock' sound.
After the tracking was completed, band's keyboardist Rob Daiker went to work editing and mixing each track alongside Shulman and Reed, sending mixes back and forth, making notes and shaping and moulding the album to best represent what DRN sounds like currently, while paying respect to what brought the band to the world's attention back in the late 80's.

The video for the song "Coming Home" from PAIN, the Swedish metal band led by multi-instrumentalist and producer Peter Tägtgren, can be seen below. The song is the title track of the band's new album, which was released on September 9 through Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to 2011's "You Only Live Twice" features cover artwork by Stefan Heilemann.
"Coming Home" track listing:
01. Designed To Piss You Off02. Call Me03. A Wannabe04. Pain in the Ass05. Black Knight Satellite06. Coming Home07. Absinthe Phoenix Rising08. Final Crusade09. Natural Born Idiot10. Starseed
Since the beginning of his career in the early '90s, the Swedish allrounder has enjoyed diving into the extreme and has grown to be an untameable force. But this is exactly what makes him so fascinating. Taboos, creative stagnation, or genre boundaries have never existed in the world of the forty-six-year-old mastermind. And, of course, Peter Tägtgren wandered the same unexplored paths when the time came to forge "Coming Home", the eighth studio release of the industrial institution PAIN. However, the path was long and winding and therefore, the writing process for the follow-up of "You Only Live Twice" wasn't all fun and games, but Peter Tägtgren is well prepared for the fight:
"Sometimes you pull your hair out and lay sleepless all night long, because you can't figure out this one chorus or don't know how to finish a certain song," admits the singer and guitarist."That's just me: When I dive into it, there's no ending in sight. It's a self-destructive mechanism. But I want perfection — or I don't want it at all."
Therefore, it is no wonder, that PAIN delivers a revolutionary mix of styles on this new release — bizarre alternative metal meets electronic melodies — and, in addition, the band weave some spectacular orchestral arrangements into the tracks on "Coming Home", without risking any cheesy moments or overloading the songs. The result is ten highly addictive hymns with massive depth and experimentation. With the orchestrated portions, PAIN entered a new era and seeked assistance from CARACH ANGREN's Clemens "Ardek" Wijers, who added some magical final touches to Tägtgren's bombastic songwriting. But the album also has time to breathe with beautiful acoustic guitar intros appearing hand in hand with stormy moments, showing the band at the zenith of their creativity.
"Coming Home" includes drummer Sebastian Tägtgren, Peter's seventeen-year-old son who delivers an impressive guest appearance on the title track as well as SABATON's Joakim Brodén who joins the team for some typically raw warrior vocals on "Call Me".
But a PAIN release wouldn't be a typical masterpiece without some thought-provoking topics and tales: On the callboy-singalong "Call Me" and "Final Crusade", the band crawls through the deepest corners of society and the human mind, while "Absinthe-Phoenix Rising" is based upon an incident in Leipzig during PAIN's tour with NIGHTWISH, where the band was attacked and beat up after leaving an Absinthe bar. And of course, lovers of mystery and conspiracy theories also get their money's worth with "Black Knight Satellite". "Nikola Tesla, who invented the lightbulb, electricity, and other stuff, thought that he heard beeping sounds from space," Tägtgren elaborates of the track's inspiration, "It was around the year 1899 and it seemed like a message to him, a hidden code. He was the first one to discover it, but in the 1950s, when humans started to go into space, they heard the same noises and found out: There is some signal from a satellite out there… but it isn't ours. And as they started their research, they found out, that people had been talking about this phenomenon for around thirteen-thousand years. The story of this so-called 'Black Knight Satellite' is very fascinating to me. Whether it's true or not, I don't know. But it definitely inspired me to write these lyrics."
