Oakland, California punk/hard rock outfit DOPESICK is a fresh name for many, but the band's members charge forward with quite the resume behind them. DOPESICK frontman/guitarist Adam Albright originally formed the band nearly two decades ago with the intention of touring while still performing with Bay Area post-thrash band SKINLAB, but this dream was abruptly cut short by a prison sentence. After being released from prison and joining a brief SKINLAB reunion, Albright decided to launch the first incarnation of DOPESICK (a term he learned from a cellmate in prison). The band cut their teeth for several years by gigging relentlessly in the Bay Area and releasing an EP in 2002, "Vendetta", produced by SKINLAB's Scott Sargeant. After some personal conflicts with other members and more time off for Albright while touring with Sebastian Bach's solo project (and penning the title track for Bach's 2007 album, "Angel Down"), DOPESICK seemed to be on hold indefinitely. Fast forward to 2016: Albright recently enlisted drummer Aaron Rossi (MINISTRY, PRONG) and bassist Mandi Martyr (MINISTRY) to play on the upcoming DOPESICK release — and this time it's sticking. To give listeners a taste of what to expect from DOPESICK, the band has revealed the brand new music video for "Ride The Night", the first single from their upcoming album, "The Love And Terror Cult", set for release this winter. Featuring Jahred Gomez of (HED) P.E., the track is a cool summer party banger — mixing reggae vibes and metal hooks. "I had this song in mind for a minute... the whole time I was thinking Jarhed would klll it," states Albright on working with Gomez. "I sent him the basic stuff, he sliced n' diced and it, and it came back sick! The video was easy — Jahred flew into L.A. very early. We started smoking and shooting in Venice Beach and wound up at the Rainbow in Hollywood! The filming was super cool, a lot of fun... and I did NOT go to jail!" The "Ride The Night" video was directed and edited by Matt Zane (WAYNE STATIC, JOHN 5, ORGY). The track on the video was mixed by Eddie Wohl (ANTHRAX, FUEL, ILL NINO) and mastered by Augustus Cryns (STITCHED UP HEART, THE DEAD RABBITTS, THE ACADEMY IS). DOPESICK is currently finishing recording with Patrick Burkholder at Pawnshop Studio in Van Nuys, California.
Inner Wound Recordings released Warsaw, Poland-based prog band Votum’s new album, :KTONIK:, back in February. Now, the band have recorded the video track "Satellite" as an acoustic 360º video. This new technology allows for the viewer to watch the performance from any angle they want (as the name of the technology obviously states). Watch below:
Votum combines dark and vibrant atmosphere with metal traditions, bringing both force and ambience to play. Canadian metal legends Anvil have released a new video for the song "Zombie Apocalypse", taken from their latest studio album, Anvil Is Anvil.
Frontman Lips comments: "'Zombie Apocalypse' is my personal favorite from the new CD.. I love the feel and tempo which allows for melody and sheer power. I'm still finding it funny when I was asked 'Zombie A coffee Lips?'"

In the two short years since their debut album was cooked up in frontman Caleb Shomo's basement, BEARTOOTH has catapulted into heavy music's stratosphere. D.C.-based prog innovators Periphery return this summer with a new album, Periphery III: Select Difficulty, out on July 22nd via Sumerian Records, and a US tour, dubbed the Sonic Unrest tour, which launches on August 4th.
Periphery debut the first video from the 11-song album, with an animated clip for “Marigold”.
““Marigold” was written pretty early in the album writing sessions,” guitar player Mark Holcomb explains. “It had been a song that anchored the songwriting direction for P3. The technicality, sense of melody, orchestration and big choruses lend itself to what I feel most of this record is about.”
Wes Richardson directed the video. He had previously worked with the band on the video for “Alpha”, from the band’s 2015 Juggernaut releases.
“Working with Wes has become second nature for the band,” continues Holcomb. “This is his fourth video for us. Not only is he uniquely gifted but he also understands the visual aesthetic of Periphery, as well as having a sense of humor that runs parallel to ours.”

“Touring with Periphery has shown me some of the most incredible experiences I could ever have imagined, to meet amazing people all over the world and to create friendships for life; it has truly been an honour to perform in front of every audience who has watched us play over the years. However the touring life isn’t something that everyone can continue doing indefinitely, and for me, the time has come where I want to settle into a more normal existence, be able to make plans further into the future than the touring life enables, and to be able to focus more on the studio side of my music career,” explained Nolly. “I will, however, be remaining as a band member and contributing in any way that I can while the band is off the road; I love all of my fellow bandmates like brothers and I’m so grateful for the incredible support they’ve shown as I make this huge life change. I know they are going to be taking the music and performances to the next level when they hit the road later this year.”

Written by Logue, Koehne and former drummer Pete Newdeck (Tainted Nation), “Sell Your Soul” is an upbeat, uplifting, melodic catchy tune featuring some superb guitar and synth interplay between German guitarist Thorsten Koehne and the band's new keyboard player Chrism, the thunderous Scottish rhythm section of bassist Paul Logue and drummer John Clelland and their pièce de résistance, the deliciously melodic vocals of Serbian vocalist Nikola Mijic.
"It's about how we as humans can enviously look at the other side of life. Sometimes it's better the devil you know than the devil you don’t,” says Logue.

Pop Evil have announced a new batch of select US dates supporting 3 Doors Down with friends in Red Sun Rising opening the night. The trek kicks off on August 26th in Charleston, WV at the Municipal Auditorium and goes through the first week of October ending in Durham, NC at the Durham Performing Arts Center. Danish progressive metal quartet The Vision Ablaze have premiered a new video single for the song “Absent,” which opens their most recent album Youtopia.
The album was released in September last year via Mighty Music, and was produced by Jacob Hansen (Aborted, Mercenary, Volbeat, Pretty Maids).
About the story behind the track and how it complements the rest of the material on Youtopia, the band commented: “‘Absent’ is the first song on our album and it embodies many of the themes on the album; seeking truth, shattering illusions, questioning authorities and waking up. ‘Absent’ is the story of someone who must transcend the human illusion and save himself and humanity from the restraint of lies and deceit.”
For the rest of the year The Vision Ablaze has planned tours in Demark, Sweden and Germany. Talking more about their plans, they said: “We've recently switched to wireless in-ears and it's the first step in making a smother live show. It enables us to control many important variables in our setup. We're also planning a video for 'Monster' too - which will be the 6th video for the album.”
Youtopia won “Best Production” at the High Voltage Rock Awards 2016 in Copenhagen. It's the most prestigious award show for rock and metal in Denmark. The award cited producer Jacob Hansen's outstanding work — making a dynamic album that's both really crushing and very soft and clean at the same time. The award was given by renowned producer Flemming Rasmussen and he praised the album for the pristine production.
The band was nominated in two other categories: “Best Danish Metal Release,” and “Best Radio Rock Track” (nominated by MyRock, Denmark's premiere rock radio). However, Myrkur and Danish rock legends Dizzy Mizz Lizzy went home with those awards.
The Vision Ablaze also had the honor of playing at the show that featured Denner/Sherman as the headliner.
The Alain Duplantier-directed video for "Low Lands", a brand new song from French progressive metallers GOJIRA, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's latest album, "Magma", which was released on June 17 via Roadrunner Records. The follow-up to 2012's "L'Enfant Sauvage" was recorded at GOJIRA frontman Joseph Duplantier's Silver Cord Studio in Queens, New York.
Said Joseph Duplantier: "['Low Lands'] is an intimate and poetic piece directed by our dear cousin and friend Alain Duplantier.
"One of the 'characters' featured in this film is 'Gayeres,' the family house where Mario [Duplantier, GOJIRA drummer] and I grew up. We jammed to our first songs, started GOJIRA, and recorded most of our albums there. Our sister Gabrielle also contributed to the making of this video.
"We want to thank all the wonderful people who worked hard to make this happen and all our fans for supporting us with so much passion and respect. We hope you'll enjoy the trip as much as we do."
Joseph told RollingStone.com that the band worked on twelve songs for the album before ultimately deciding on ten. "We want a short album," he said. "Something less epic than what we usually do. People's attentions are shorter now. So a lot of the songs are four minutes."
Joseph and his brother, who make up the band's songwriting core, were forced to put the sessions for the new album on hold when their mother got sick and eventually died last summer.
"I felt physically, mentally exhausted," Joseph told RollingStone.com. "At the same time, though, the way it happened was beautiful. We were all around her. We had to cancel a few shows when she died, but it was very enriching at the same time. We learned a lot about death."
"When you read Joe's lyrics, for me, I cry right away," Mario said. "They're very deep and to the point. No bullshit. We recycle our sadness and depression in the music."
"Mario was recording drums, and I was playing guitar with him, just trying to help him know where he's at in the song, and both of us would start crying at the same time," Joseph added.
"The songs were half-written while she was sick," he said. "After she died, I still had to finish them. So one song was like, 'You're going to make it,' but the second verse is 'You didn't make it.'"
Asked what the title of GOJIRA's new album, "Magma", means to him, Joseph Duplantier told Kerrang!: "To me, 'magma' is the primal energy. It's the blood of the earth. It's hot. It's dangerous. It is the guts. It's this music. It's the music we play. It's fusion. It's fire. It's electricity. It's… everything that we're trying to express with this music. That's what it means to me, 'magma.'"
Joseph also talked about how he comes up with all those heavy GOJIRA riffs. He said: "I don't know if we have a formula or a secret to write some of our riffs. But I wanna say that we connect ourselves to a certain energy, we put ourselves in a certain state of mind naturally. The kind of music we wanna hear, the kind of riffs we wanna hear are intricate and heavy and spiritual and there's a part of mystery in it. So we put ourselves in this kind of state of mind. But, really, we have visions when we play. When I've got my guitar, I'm already in a certain mood, and then everything that comes out will be in that specific mood. Yeah, I guess we're really connected to all… everything that's nature… Ideas like infinity, outer space, black holes [are] very inspiring for heavy riffs."
abcNEWS reports that Jon Bon Jovi was a reluctant singer at a Florida wedding last weekend.
Video (below) shows the rocker sheepishly taking the microphone after a wedding band led by singer Lourdes Valentin launched into Bon Jovi's 1986 classic, "Livin' On A Prayer."
Valentin tells The Associated Press she knew Bon Jovi would be a guest at the wedding and she prepared the song specifically for him. She says he told her he didn't think he wanted to sing before the party and she was "very surprised" when he decided to "grace us with his talent."
Bon Jovi have completed work on their upcoming 14th studio album, expected this fall. The band posted the photo below via social media with the simple tag, “The album is done!”
The new album, tentatively titled This House Is Not For Sale, will be released via the band’s label, Island Def Jam Music Group. Details on the upcoming release are expected to be revealed soon. Stay tuned.

Brazilian bashers Angra have relesaed a video for their cover of The Police classic "Synchronicity II", which originally appeared on the band's 2014 album Secret Garden as a bonus track.
The original cut is taken from The Police's #1 album Sychronicity, released in 1983
Angra - featuring Megadeth guitarist Kiko Loureiro - recently released a video for "Silent Call", which is the final song on their Secret Garden album; sung by guitarist Rafael Bittencourt.
"Recording this video in Japan for me was very emotional and rewarding," said Bittencourt. "This song, in particular, was a major challenge in my career and even more touched my will to compose with these influences and also singing. We use elements of Japanese culture to portray what we wanted to spend image in the video and I think all the fans will like it very much."

Less than 12 months after unveiling their debut album, Melbourne-based rock n’ roll nomads Palace Of The King have announced the upcoming release of their second full-length album, Valles Marineris. The band comments about “Beyond The Valley”: “We decided we really wanted to do something different and push the boundaries when making our first official film clip from Valles Marineris. Something that didn't necessarily feature the band members but represented the music. I was a fan of Sergio the clip creator so I suggested to the guys that we send him the song to see what he might do. He loved the song and we love what he did visually to capture the feeling behind it.”
Set to land on July 15th, Valles Marineris deepens Palace Of The King’s footprint on the international rock music scene by expanding on the qualities of their debut through an all-new ten track collection of blues and psych-infused hard rock. Preorders are available via Listenable Records.
Lead by the bruising gospel-tinged riffathon of “Let The Blood Run Free”, Valles Marineris is both eclectic and unrelenting right through to the final eerie piano fadeout of album closer “Into The Black”.
Vocalist Tim Henwood comments “I feel like we’re really honing in on our own distinctive sound now. I love our early recordings but after traveling around the world and playing over 300 shows in our first three years as a band, we’re growing and evolving. It’s real, it’s from the heart and we can’t wait to let this one out of the box.”
Having always placed equal importance on the visual component of each release, the band once again enlisted award-winning tattoo artist Kristian Kimonides for the album artwork, whose original painting was inspired by the music and lyrics of Valles Marineris.
With extensive tour dates already scheduled in Australia, US and Europe, 2016 is set to be Palace Of The King’s best and most prolific year yet.

Psychedelic, classically-infused doom metal act, Spirit Adrift, will continue to unveil new material with their debut full-length album, Chained To Oblivion, out on August 12th via Prosthetic Records. A video for the album track “Form And Force” can be found below.
Produced again by Bob Hoag at Arizona's Flying Blanket Studios, Chained To Oblivion show the continuing evolution and growth of the band's creator, Nate Garrett, both as a songwriter and a person.
"The songs on Chained To Oblivion deal with struggle, adversity, suffering, helplessness, hopelessness, but ultimately triumph", commented Garrett, "I believe that the life experiences which fueled these songs, plus the amount of emotion and energy attached to the recording session itself... all that will touch listeners who are open to it. Sonically speaking, expect more vocal harmonies, trippier lyrics, more guitar harmonies, groovier bass, and drumming that's way more solid. Garrett continued to share details on the album's stunning artwork from Revolting Worship's Nate Burns adding, "He nailed it, again. The artwork on Chained To Oblivion continues to follow the trials and tribulations of Spirit Adrift's matriarch, Brenda. Nate Burns and I talked about my ongoing obsession with outer space, old X-Men comics (particularly some of the Phoenix story arcs), and subliminal stimuli within art. This artwork goes hand in hand with the listening experience, so we've made sure the physical versions of the album are well worth the fans' hard-earned money. I can't wait for the world to hear this album"
Chained To Oblivion features five tracks spanning over 45 minutes of music and will be made available on digipack CD and across all digital outlets. A gatefold double LP version of the album will also be offered through Chicago-based War Crime Recordings.

Spirit Adrift is the result of a lifetime dedicated to music. Both musically and lyrically, the music is punishingly heavy and equally uplifting. Psychedelic currents ebb and flow throughout passages of unrelenting doom and entrancing melody. The focus is on writing memorable, meaningful songs that evoke every sonic influence that shaped the musician channeling them.
Spirit Adrift represents the culmination of every bit of Garrett’s musical experience, from piano lessons at age three, through voice training in school choir, whiskey-soaked Sabbath riffs, the joy of Thin Lizzy guitar harmonies and ZZ Top pinch harmonics, good times, awful times and everything in between. Garrett cut his teeth in the south, in a humid melting pot of doom, sludge, psychedelic rock and hardcore punk. He played, recorded and toured with as many bands as possible and was deeply influenced by the artistic and personal relationships he shared with fellow Arkansans such as Deadbird, Rwake, Seahag and Pallbearer.
