What was once thought a distant idea is now reality. It began when members Tony Hajjar and Mike Zarin were writing music for film trailers and they realized they had created a sound that needed a life outside of that medium. It needed a band. Fast forward through some phone calls and drinks: Troy Van Leeuwen was in. The trio met and wrote an EP within the first several sessions, but were still in need of the right vocalist. Upon first listen, Troy Sanders understood the vision and flew to Los Angeles to write and record vocals on the spot.
In the interview with RollingStone.com, Tony Hajjar said: "GONE IS GONE is a project that can live even when we are working with our other entities as well. The goal is to be able to compose remotely, if needed, on film, trailers, or on anything else that comes up... It feels good to know that all this music will see the light of day soon."
Added Sanders: "The vibe from Day One was, and has been, very therapeutic and refreshing for me. The chemistry was immediate."
GONE IS GONE made its live debut on April 27 at the Dragonfly in Los Angeles.
"Monster", the new video from UNLOCKING THE TRUTH — the heavy metal band from Flatbush, Brooklyn made up of three African-American boys, guitarist/vocalist Malcolm Brickhouse, bassist Alec Atkins and drummer Jarad Dawkins — can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's forthcoming debut full-length album, "Chaos", which will be released on June 17 via premier independent music distributor Tunecore. The set was produced by Johnny K (MEGADETH, POP EVIL, DISTURBED) and captures the young band's explosive live energy, resulting in a tight, powerfully heavy yet melodic full-length offering.
Of "Chaos", Brickhouse commented: "We can't wait for everyone to hear our album. We've worked very hard to give the fans something they'll love and never forget. We hope they are able to relate to the songs the way that we do and have the time of their lives listening to them. We know that this album will blow you guys away." As previously reported, UNLOCKING THE TRUTH will be the subject of the forthcoming documentary, "Breaking A Monster". An exclusive feature-film account of the band's experience with the major record industry, it will be released this summer. SeeThink Films, the collaborative behind the release effort, has launched a Kickstarter campaign in support of an even wider theatrical presence.

UNLOCKING THE TRUTH last year spoke to The Daily Beast about their decision to sever ties with Sony, less than a year after signing with the major label.
"It was pretty difficult at times with [our] meetings [with Sony] — especially with this one particular lady at the label, who had a meeting with us once where she was just talking at us for six hours," Alec said. "We were pretty young at the time so we were pretty restless and wanted to get up and do something else, but she just had us in this meeting for six hours."
As part of its guaranteed two-album deal with Sony, UNLOCKING THE TRUTH was reportedly due to receive $60,000 to record the first disc and possibly as much as $325,000 for the second CD. Sony reportedly had an option to release a total of five albums from UNLOCKING THE TRUTH that could have pushed the label's financial investment to around $1.8 million ($325,000 for the second album, $400,000 for the third, $450,000 for the fourth and $550,000 for the fifth). It should be noted, however, that the band was only supposed to see the real money after an initial $60,000 advance if their debut album sold more than 250,000 copies, a prospect that seemed highly unlikely in an age of diminishing record sales.
Luke Meyer, the director of "Breaking A Monster", told The Daily Beast: "The $1.8 million is what happens if you add up all their advances for five records, and it increases in amount with each successive album.
"That's what everyone says about the music industry — it's got all this glitter on it, but it's always less flashy than it looks."
The members of UNLOCKING THE TRUTH famously got permission from a New York judge in July 2014 to sign the Sony deal. The musicians needed the judge's approval because they were minors.
UNLOCKING THE TRUTH has already played the Coachella festival and has supported GUNS N' ROSES. In addition, the band has appeared in a national ad campaign for Verizon Wireless.
UNLOCKING THE TRUTH credits bands such as METALLICA, SLIPKNOT, DISTURBED, CHELSEA GRIN, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE and ESCAPE THE FATE as its influences.
A video for “When The Wild Wind Blows” from Nylon Maiden’s upcoming double CD, Preserved In Time, can be seen below. Nylon Maiden is headed up by Dutch classical guitarist Thomas Zwijsen - known for his acoustic renditions of some of metal’s greatest songs and arrangements of Iron Maiden tracks.
Nylon Maiden’s Preserved In Time is due for release in June. Thomas has gained almost 10 million views on YouTube with his arrangements of Iron Maiden songs for classical guitar, making this his most anticipated album to date.
Preserved In Time promises to be Zwijsen’s ultimate Iron Maiden tribute album. It makes the classical guitar world a bit more metal by adding 16 Iron Maiden songs (and two Bruce Dickinson songs) to its repertoire.
Zwijsen’s long-time collaborator Blaze Bayley is one of the returning guest musicians on this album, performing two tracks from his Iron Maiden days, as well as a unique version of “Blood Brothers” off the Brave New World album! This is the first time Blaze performs an Iron Maiden song from the post-Blaze era. It gives Iron Maiden fans an idea of what it would have sounded like if Blaze had stayed with the band.
Tracklisting:
Disc 1
“If Eternity Should Fail”
“Stranger In A Strange Land”
“Judgement Of Heaven” (with Blaze Bayley & Anne Bakker)
“Ghost Of The Navigator”
“Powerslave” (Thomas & band)
“Burning Ambition”
“Tears Of The Dragon” (Bruce Dickinson song)
“Blood Brothers” (with Blaze Bayley)
“When The Wild Wind Blows” (Thomas & band)
Disc 2
“Afraid To Shoot Strangers”
“Como Estais Amigos” (with Blaze Bayley & Anne Bakker)
“Wrathchild”
“Tears Of A Clown”
“Jerusalem” (Bruce Dickinson song)
“For The Greater Good Of God”
“Reach Out”
“Fear Of The Dark”
“Rime Of The Ancient Mariner” (Thomas & band)
Zwijsen comments: “In our attempt to choose the best track listing for the most fulfilling, surprising and complete Iron Maiden tribute album, we simply couldn't fit all the songs on a single CD, so we decided to make it a double CD this time. Many of the songs were requests from people on YouTube. If this were to be the setlist at an Iron Maiden concert, I’d be very happy!”
People who pre-order the album get some cool extras:
- Their names printed in the booklet of the album, preserved in time!
- The album signed by Thomas
- A free specially designed stainless steel Nylon Maiden dog tag.
THE WINERY DOGS, the power trio featuring drummer Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, ADRENALINE MOB), legendary bassist Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG, TALAS, DAVID LEE ROTH) and guitarist/vocalist Richie Kotzen (MR. BIG, POISON), will launch another U.S. headlining tour on Saturday, June 25 in Hinckley, Minnesota at the Grand Casino Amphitheatre. The band is on the road in support of its second album, "Hot Streak", which was released last October in North America via Loud & Proud Records.
To get fans revved up for the new tour, the hard-rocking trio will release a new single, "Captain Love", to radio on June 3. A Vicente Cordero-directed video for the song can be seen below.
"Captain Love" is one of the band's favorite songs on the album. While lyricist/singer/guitarist Richie Kotzen doesn't confess to be the subject of the song, drummer Mike Portnoy believes it's the perfect groove to be played in strip clubs around the world.
"Eight months after kicking off our first U.S. leg last October and following runs in Europe, Japan and South America," explains Portnoy, "we are excited to round home plate and return home with some more U.S. shows in June and July."
THE WINERY DOGS' May 27 performance at Teatro Cariola in Santiago, Chile will be professionally filmed and recorded for an upcoming DVD and Blu-ray.
"Hot Streak" debuted at No. 30 on The Billboard 200 chart, having shifted 13,000 equivalent album units in the week ending October 8, 2015.
STITCHED UP HEART's debut full-length offering, "Never Alone", is set for a June 17 release via Another Century. The group's new video for the Active Rock single "Monster" can be seen below.
STITCHED UP HEART singer Mixi states: "The track 'Monster' was the very first song we wrote for the new record with Another Century.
"The night before we went in the studio, I was getting tattooed by my artist Mr. Monster and he asked me to write a song for him. That's where the idea started. The next day the producers, Merritt (our lead guitarist) and I met up to start the writing process. The studio was dark with spell books, herbs, spices and other various weird ritual stuff. There was an odd feeling that overcame me, almost like a beast was ready to be set free. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with the environment, our determination to kill this record or the mass amounts of monster energy drinks I had that day, but something came over me and was unleashed into the recording."
She continued: "The same thing happened shooting this video. There was something that just needed to be let out. The director, Robert Graves, and producer, Marco DeMolina (BUCKCHERRY, BUTCHER BABIES), were very good at capturing the crazy energy in each take. It only seemed to take one or two times to get the shots he wanted. Everything ran very smoothly. The location had a lot of history as well. I remember in between takes at one point I really felt possessed or something. There was a scene shot in a chamber I was looking around the room with a feeling like I had been in there forever and would never get out. Maybe it's just something about the song lyrics about releasing this beast inside of me, or maybe I really am a monster."
STITCHED UP HEART is described in a press release as "a band built around the strength that comes from realizing we are the only ones that control our lives, and focused on the hope that reminds us there is always light at the end of the darkest tunnel. It's something heavy and powerful, jarring the album's epic closing track 'I Can't Breathe' from a piano-paced ballad that would do Lady Gaga proud, to a metallic onslaught of drop-tuned guitars that is sure to see the band sharing a stage with the hardest of their hard rock peers. And it is something undeniable, Mixi's voice taking flight amidst anthems of self-awareness that bridge the unrelenting confidence of IN THIS MOMENT's Maria Brink and the soulful transcendence of Adele."
Sintax was formed by members of Shwortsechaye and Birth in late 2010. Since then they have toured Israel and have an established fan base all over the country. The band is considered one of the best metal live act in Israel to date. The band also had a special feature on Israeli Headbangers Ball and they have released two music videos from the new album Sway For A Better Day; “Let’s Get Mental” and “Four More Years”.
Sintax released earlier a small limited CD-edition of the Sway For A Better Day album and it is now released digitally via Inverse Records on June 17th.
"Lost", the new video from San Fracisco Bay Area metallers DEATH ANGEL, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's new album, "The Evil Divide", which will be released on May 27 via Nuclear Blast. The clip was directed and edited by Tommy Jones of Videohammer Studios.
Comments DEATH ANGEL vocalist Mark Osegueda: "The song 'Lost' is very personal to me and I believe it will resonate with many.
"As one who has been fortunate enough to be raised In the San Francisco Bay Area (an extremely diverse region), I have made friends with people from every religion, race, sexual orientation, and genre of music fan!
"One thing that no one can escape, no matter what one's beliefs are, or how well you were raised, or educated, is that one point in your life that you felt apart, or alone. It is an awful and disparaging feeling. Some are fortunate enough to have only experienced a fleeting moment of that empty feeling. More often than not though, it's much longer than a fleeting moment, and time moves no slower than when stuck in that feeling. I myself am not immune to that human experience.
"I find the best release for me, and what makes me feel as though I belong / am doing something right / have a quality of life that is not measured by a monetary system, is creating music!
"This song is for and about all who have ever been trapped in that dark hole of your own mind. This is 'Lost'! You are not alone!"
Adds Jones: "When I first spoke to Mark about the lyrical context of the song, I realized that he was coming from three different mindsets, or three different narratives that would lead someone to feeling 'lost.' So there was a challenge to represent these three scenarios into the video for the song. They were pretty heavy, current social topics in the form of religious extremism, a bad relationship riddled with drug and physical abuse, and cyber and school bullying. Each of these situations could make a person feel 'lost' as to what's right or what's wrong, or a sense of being trapped in a situation that in your mind you know is wrong, but being stuck in it, makes you feel 'lost'. I also wanted the band to seem 'lost' as if they were nowhere. So the setting of the video is that they are in complete never-ending blackness. The rain was a necessity. With the power that Mark is belting out the lyrics 'rain down on me', it was a no-brainier, I saw it in my head and needed to have him singing that last chorus in the rain. So we made it rain, yo!"
"The Evil Divide" was once again recorded at AudioHammer studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, DEICIDE), who previously worked on 2010's "Relentless Retribution" and 2013's "The Dream Calls For Blood". Mastering duties were handled by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in New York City. The cover artwork was created by Tyrrell and can be seen below.

"Here I Am", the new video from ASKING ALEXANDRIA, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's latest album, "The Black", which debuted at No. 9 on The Billboard 200, having shifted 30,000 equivalent album units in the week ending March 31.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).
In terms of pure album sales, "The Black" opened with 28,000 copies.
"The Black" was released on March 25 via Sumerian Records.
Life is all about how quickly you get back up. In January 2015, everything changed for ASKING ALEXANDRIA. The chart- topping, gold-selling U.K. hard rock outfit parted ways with singer and founding member Danny Worsnop. On the outside, the future might've seemed uncertain — even grim — to some, but Ben Bruce (lead guitar, vocals), James Cassells (drums), Cameron Liddell (rhythm guitar) and Sam Bettley (bass) dusted themselves off, lifted their chins, and got right back up. "We hadn't reached our destination yet, and Danny had," admits Bruce. "I think it was necessary. When it happened, I was devastated. I lost my best friend. We even started referring to this part of our career as 'the black period.' It was the darkest time, but we weren't going to give up. If he hadn't left, I don't think we would've been as inspired as we were. I also don’t think ASKING ALEXANDRIA would still be around. Instead, we're more excited than ever about this band." In order to properly do that, the band actually turned to a fan. Ukrainian singer Denis Shaforostov gained notoriety posting ASKING ALEXANDRIA covers on YouTube and consequentially inked a deal with Sumerian in his band DOWN AND DIRTY. Bruce shot him an e-mail one night. The next day, a new ASKING ALEXANDRIA song had vocals and a new era in the band's history took form.

On the 30th anniversary of recording Guns N’ Roses’ iconic debut album Appetite For Destruction, legendary producer, Steve Thompson (Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rolling Stones), went into the studio to produce American hard rock band, Crash Midnight. The first result is the adrenaline-filled “Roxy”, whose controversial and edgy music video drops today. Check it out below.
Directed by Ron Sperling and produced by Ron Sperling and Bo Toof, "Roxy" chronicles the raucous, gritty experience of a young stripper in the infamous 1960's "Combat Zone" of Boston. With the song’s theme in mind, Sperling created this intense video that couples the explosiveness of the band’s live performance along with jaw-dropping raw visuals that have already created quite a stir leading up to its release.
“Roxy” anticipates the release of Lost In The City, Crash Midnight’s new album, dropping in September via Musicarchy Media in Europe and Asia. The release will be remixed, remastered, and repackaged with “Roxy” for North America later this fall.
The band is also launching the exclusive Crash Midnight App today, created in cooperation with Cayenne and available now on the App Store and Google Play. The App will offer exclusive music videos, merchandise, contests, free song downloads, and provide unprecedented access to the band through its unique Backstage portal.
"Drown Me In Blood", the new video from the California-based metal outfit CARNIFEX, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's new album, titled "Slow Death", which will be released on August 5 via Nuclear Blast Records. "Slow Death" was mixed by Mark Lewis (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER, DEICIDE) at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida. Cover art for the album was created by renowned artist and longtime collaborator Godmachine.
"Album number six, over ten years as a band and we have more fire and passion than ever," comments CARNIFEX vocalist Scott Ian Lewis. "This album will reshape our genre and be looked back on as an album that started a new movement for aggressive, dark metal. We're going to show those who love us and those who hate us just how far reaching our ambition is."
