DEFTONES Frontman

DEFTONES Frontman's CROSSES Project To Release Debut Album In February

††† (CROSSES) — DEFTONES frontman Chino Moreno's project with FAR guitarist Shaun Lopez — will release its self-titled full-length debut on February 11, 2014 via Sumerian Records. The CD will include the songs from ††† (CROSSES)'s two previously released EPs — 2011's "†" and 2012's "††", along with five new tracks.

The first single, "The Epilogue", will be released via iTunes on November 11.

Another track, "Bitches Brew", can be streamed in the YouTube clip below.

In a 2011 interview with ChinaShop, Moreno stated about how ††† (CROSSES) came together, "I remember I mentioned to [Shaun] one day when we were hanging out, y'know, 'We should make a record together.' It just so happened that when I moved to L.A. I ended up living a few blocks away from him. I was down here working on recording some vocals with Shaun. We just clicked. We listened to a lot of the same music. We've always worked well together. With this project in particular, I met [guitarist] Chuck over at Shaun's house. Chuck was working on some of his solo stuff. I don't know when they started working together, but they said they were working on a project together and asked if I was interested in contributing vocals. Whenever they were working, I'd just ride my bike over there. A couple different times, I was just like, 'Let me try singing on this,' and they were like, 'OK, cool.' I'd just go in and throw in a bunch of ideas. Pretty soon they got rid of the idea of getting a bunch of different singers together. We just started working on the record together."

††† (CROSSES) made its live debut in January 2012 at The Glass House in Pomona, California.

Moreno previously described ††† (CROSSES)'s sound as "minimal and soothing and it's sort of like the stuff I like listening to when I'm not screaming my head off."

ASKING ALEXANDRIA: Uncensored

ASKING ALEXANDRIA: Uncensored 'Killing You' Video Released

The "uncensored" version of "Killing You", the new Frankie Nasso-directed video from the British metalcore act ASKING ALEXANDRIA, can be seen below. (WARNING: The clip contains female nudity.) The song comes off the band's third album, "From Death To Destiny", which sold 38,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 6 on The Billboard 200 chart.

In a recent interview with Kill Your Stereo, ASKING ALEXANDRIA guitarist Ben Bruce stated about the band's musical progression on "From Death To Destiny": "When we recorded 'Stand Up And Scream', we were kids — we were 17 to 19 years old. We all loved '80s music then. [However] I don't think we were brave enough or competent enough to show our passion for '80s rock back then at the time. With 'Reckless And Relentless', it was the same thing; there was a little bit more of it and you could see our '80s rock 'n' roll love coming through, but again, I don't think we had the balls to go out and fully do it. But this time around, we sat down and intentionally said, 'OK, we want to show our love of '80s music in this record.' But we don't want it to sound like a regurgitated '80s album because we've been there, we've done that. It wouldn't be fun, it wouldn't be fresh and it wouldn't work, so we had the challenge to try and incorporate modern day rock and metal into our love and passion for the '80s. I think we did a really did a good job of it."

Asked how important social media is in promoting a band like ASKING ALEXANDRIA, Bruce said: "I think it's a vital part of promoting a band. There are so many different bands out there. It's not like back in the day where you were put in a magazine and everyone would subscribe to that magazine. You knew lots of people were going to read about you in a magazine. These days, magazines still sell but they've taken a huge hit, just as record sales have. The biggest platform anyone has these days to release any information regarding whatever it may be, for instance, our new album, is the Internet. The harder you work at that and try and connect with your fans, the more they feel a connection with their favorite band and therefore the more interested they become. It grows. We have 3.5 million followers on our Facebook page, which is a shit-ton of people. [laughs] You can't even imagine 3.5 million people. Although it's just a number on a screen, essentially you are writing a letter to each one of these people to tell them about our album coming out or we'll be playing this city on this day, so I think it's absolutely vital these days to make the most of your social networking."

CARCASS: Three-Camera Mix Of DAMNATION FESTIVAL Performance

CARCASS: Three-Camera Mix Of DAMNATION FESTIVAL Performance

A three-camera fan-filmed video mix of CARCASS' November 2 performance at the Damnation Festival at Leeds University Union in Leeds, United Kingdom can be seen below.

CARCASS' new album, "Surgical Steel", sold around 8,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 41 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on September 16 in the U.K., September 13 in the rest of Europe and September 17 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records. The effort was produced by Colin Richardson (FEAR FACTORY, MACHINE HEAD, NAPALM DEATH, SLIPKNOT, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE) and mixed by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ACCEPT, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY).

Joining guitarist Bill Steer and bassist/vocalist Jeff Walker in CARCASS' current incarnation are new drummer Dan Wilding (ABORTED, TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED) and guitarist Ben Ash (PIG IRON, DESOLATION, LIQUEFIED SKELETON).

In a recent interview with Chile's Radio Futuro, Walker stated about the new CARCASS CD: "We think we've made a good album, so it's gonna be very interesting when people get to hear the record. We can't wait to see what people think."

He continued: "It sounds like CARCASS. Even the drumming sounds like CARCASS. Everything about it… I think it's gonna shock people, how good it is. I think it's got all the elements that people like, yet it still sounds fresh. So that's all I can say, really, 'cause we don't really sound like any other band, and the fact that after 17 years, we wrote music and it still sounds like CARCASS, I think it's good."

Regarding the direction of the new CARCASS album, Walker previously stated: "We've taken stylistic cues from all the albums because it's in our blood, but it's no rehash or mess of ideas. I think it sounds almost like the missing link between the third and forth albums but with some groove in there. I've jokingly christened some parts 'trad blast' and some 'death sleaze'… don't think for a minute this is just some nostalgic throwback album — we're setting up another 17 years of ideas for other bands to copy and clean up on. [laughs]"

GUNS N

GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist DJ ASHBA Performs With DIZZY REED's HOOKERS & BLOW In Las Vegas (Video)

GUNS N' ROSES and SIXX: A.M. guitarist DJ Ashba joined HOOKERS & BLOW, the band featuring GUNS N' ROSES keyboardist Dizzy Reed and QUIET RIOT guitarist Alex Grossi, on stage past Saturday, November 2 at Count's Vamped in Las Vegas to perform a cover version of the ZZ TOP classic "Tush". Fan filmed video of DJ's appearance can be seen below. Other guests that appeared on stage during HOOKERS & BLOW's Las Vegas debut included Jizzy Pearl (LOVE/HATE, RATT) and Jeff Duncan (ARMORED SAINT, ODIN). HOOKERS & BLOW recently completed its second 2013 residency at the world-famous Whisky A Go Go, with guest musicians that included members of MARILYN MANSON, THE CULT, QUIET RIOT, W.A.S.P., IGNITE, ALICE COOPER, T.S.O.L. and ACE FREHLEY. The official merchandise of HOOKERS & BLOW is now available exclusively online and in-store at Forgotten Saints LA. "We are very excited to be taking the HOOKERS & BLOW brand to the next level," said Reed, "The whole concept has become somewhat legendary over the past decade and one thing that has been constant throughout is the demand for merchandise, especially for stuff beyond just the standard black t-shirt." Forgotten Saints online store ships worldwide from its world-renowned Melrose Avenue boutique in Hollywood, California.

Asked what his strongest memories are of the time when GUNS N' ROSES released "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II" simultaneously in 1991 and they became the biggest rock band on the planet, Reed told The Maitland Mercury: "It was definitely a pinch-myself-every-once-in-a-while situation to see if I was dreaming. But it I had known them before they even got signed and Axl [Rose, GUNS N' ROSES lead singer] had talked about having me in the band from very early on and then to watch them become so gigantic, I was always wondering if it was really going to happen. But he's a man of his word and when they were ready to start tracking those songs and those albums he called me and I got a phone call a couple of days later from Del James who was putting together the press release and said, 'Congratulations, you're in GUNS N' ROSES.' When I joined the band, they were chartering this jet that we used to fly around on everywhere for those three years. So I toured with a major band for three years and one day I was sitting around with some of the guys in the crew and they were all telling bus stories — stories about things that happened on the [tour] bus. It got to me and they said, 'C'mon, Dizzy, what are some of your bus stories?' and I said, 'I've never been on a bus.' But, you know what? I've been on a shitload of buses since then. I prefer it these days — I like being on the bus and rolling down the highway."

TOM ARAYA: Why DAVE LOMBARDO Is No Longer In SLAYER

TOM ARAYA: Why DAVE LOMBARDO Is No Longer In SLAYER

During a brand new interview with Brian Aberback of New Jersey's Steppin' Out magazine, SLAYER bassist/vocalist Tom Araya was asked about the band's decision to part ways with drummer Dave Lombardo bring back Paul Bostaph.

"That whole issue came down to this: Dave had been jamming with us for a while, as a working member of the band, but he wasn't a partner," Tom began. "Like all things like that, you have to have agreements, so nobody feels cheated. We had ongoing issues and finally he put us in a position where we had to find someone to replace him. He wasn't happy, so he decided to have his Facebook rant and told the world about a lot of issues going on within the band that are legally binding and private. I thought that was wrong and it was upsetting. A lot of the claims he made were untrue. Part of the agreement is you don't do that. Kerry [King, SLAYER guitarist], Jeff [Hanneman, then-SLAYER guitarist] and I got on the phone and made a collective decision and we let Dave go and gave Paul a call. Paul said he'd be happy to come back. He has brought some life back into our live performances. He's in hyper drive and kicking ass, which makes us play faster. People have commented on how energetic we've been lately. We're playing faster than we would have. It's good injection of adrenaline." Lombardo sat out SLAYER's Australian tour in February/March due to a contract dispute with the other members of the group. Filling in for him was Jon Dette (TESTAMENT, ANTHRAX).

During an interview with the KZRADIO.NET alternative radio station in Israel conducted on May 1 — just one day before the tragic passing of SLAYER guitarist Jeff Hanneman — Lombardo stated about his the circumstances that led to him being absent from SLAYER's current trek: "Basically, I had to renegotiate my contract two and a half years ago and I got an attorney because it was too complicated for me to do it myself. And my attorney was asking questions. And the answers she got from her questions, they weren't correct; they weren't the right answers. So we worked on it for two and a half years. And 2013 came around and SLAYER had to go on tour, and I said, 'Guys, I can't go on tour unless we resolve this, I've been advised.'"

He continued: "What I need is clarity — clarity and transparency.

"You go and make money for somebody, and if somebody is gonna pay you a percentage, you need to know where all this goes. They say I don't deserve to know, but I think if you're gonna pay somebody a percentage, they deserve to know. Because how are you gonna know what you got paid when you don't know everything else?

"It's a little complicated, and there's more to it as well.

"They feel that because I left in 1992 and I left for 10 years, they feel I don't deserve [to know all the details of their business].

"I mean, I love the guys — they're like my brothers — and I wish this didn't happen. But now there's like this wall between us."

Regarding some fans' criticism that money should not get in the way of the members of SLAYER making music together, Lombardo said: "What people don't understand is that, being a musician, you have to be a part businessman. There's contracts… If you're a musician and you don't have a contract and you don't follow up on your business, people are gonna take from you and they're gonna steal from you.

"Chuck Berry, Ray Charles… all those guys in the early days, they made, let's say, $500. Well, a poor musician will be happy with $100. 'Wow, I made $100.' Well, what happened to the other $400? Who took the other $400?

"[Being] musicians, you have to understand business as well as your art and your music, and you have to be professional."

Bostaph was SLAYER's drummer from 1992 until 2001 and recorded four albums with the band — the gold-certified "Divine Intervention" (1994), the 1996 punk covers album "Undisputed Attitude", "Diabolus In Musica" (1998), "God Hates Us All" (2001) that received a Grammy nomination for "Best Metal Performance", as well as the DVD "War At The Warfield" (2001), also certified gold. In addition to SLAYER, Bostaph has been a member of FORBIDDEN, EXODUS, SYSTEMATIC and TESTAMENT.

DEATH DEALER Parts Ways With RHINO, Recruits Ex-INTO ETERNITY Drummer

DEATH DEALER Parts Ways With RHINO, Recruits Ex-INTO ETERNITY Drummer

DEATH DEALER, the new band featuring MANOWAR and the DICTATORS guitarist Ross "The Boss" Friedman alongside vocalist Sean Peck (CAGE), guitarist Stu Marshall (producer and guitarist for such voices as Udo Dirkschneider and Steve Grimmett) and bassist Mike Davis (HALFORD, LIZZY BORDEN), has parted ways with drummer Kenny "Rhino" Earl (MANOWAR) and has replaced him with Steve Bolognese.

Says the group: "DEATH DEALER would like to wish Kenny all the best as he departs the unit to spend more time with his family and concentrate on a career outside of music. He will always be our brother."

A former drummer for INTO ETERNITY and a Berklee College Of Music instructor, Bolognese is often spoken of as "the drummer's drummer," having received mentoring from drum prodigy Mike Mangini (DREAM THEATER).

Says Steve: "I'm happy to announce I have joined DEATH DEALER. It's been awhile since I've played such triumphant metal but it feels great to be back at it. It's amazing to be in a band with such talented musicians. I'm really looking forward to working on this new epic material and hitting the road with it for all to see."

Added Peck: "When we discovered Steve was interested in joining the band, I called him up and found out he is a true road warrior.

"We have a lot of tour plans coming up and he has been on some great ones. He knows the game and how to bend it to his will, no matter what the circumstances may be.

"Besides being a technical thrash master from hell, he is a funny dude and fun to hang out with, which will make him a welcome addition to DEATH DEALER as we get ready to really blast off with a packed 2014 schedule! I couldn't be happier!

Said Marshall: "While Steve has some amazing technical credentials, he has a strong foundation as a fan in traditional and true metal. He's a total monster behind that kit."

Commented Davis: "Steve and I have been jamming the DEATH DEALER set for a few months now here in Hollywood and it has just been ferocious! He was our targeted first choice when we knew Rhino needed to be replaced. We are just glad he was available and now it is time to throw down the gauntlet! Now that three of us [Davis, Peck and Bolognese] in the band are located here in Southern California, it makes it everything we are planning and doing that much easier."

DEATH DEALER is working on material for its second album for a 2014 release.

DEATH DEALER's debut album, "War Master", was released in Japan on June 12 via Rubicon Records and in the rest of the world on June 13 through Steel Cartel Records.

"The DEATH DEALER sound is a mighty combination of five very talented, seasoned musicians," explained Ross. "It's classic power metal with the brutal edge of thrash, speed, and precision."

ARMORED SAINT Guitarist Joins Forces With Ex-BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION Drummer In THE BONES

ARMORED SAINT Guitarist Joins Forces With Ex-BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION Drummer In THE BONES

THE BONES, the Las Vegas-based band featuring guitarist Jeff Duncan (formerly of ODIN and currently in ARMORED SAINT) and drummer Scot Coogan (formerly of LYNCH MOB, ACE FREHLEY, BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION and LITA FORD), will rock Vinyl inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday, November 8 at 11 p.m. Concertgoers will be treated to a night of lyrically humorous rock and roll songs from THE BONES' newly released album, "What Would Ginger Do?"

THE BONES have been quickly gaining notoriety in Las Vegas for their knack for taking the cheesiest songs of the '80s and turning them into high-energy pop-punk-rock songs.

"It's kind of like what would happen if AC/DC decided to cover a CYNDI LAUPER tune. It's a lot of fun," says singer/guitarist Patrick Vitagliano.

"Music is too serious these days. Rock and roll should be fun, and our live show is nothing but high-energy, feel-good music, guaranteed to make you smile."

The Vinyl show will be a good mix of THE BONES' signature brand of amped-up "cheesy" '80s covers along with a good blend of the witty and bitingly sarcastic material from "What Would Ginger Do?"

THE BONES consists of Vitagliano (formerly of NUCLEAR THEORY); Coogan; Mike Wilson (formerly of JADED) on bass and vocals; and Duncan.

Vinyl is located inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino at 4455 Paradise Road. Doors open at 11 p.m. with no cover charge and the event is open to ages 6 years old and up.

LAMB OF GOD: Fan-Filmed Video Footage Of Montreal Concert

LAMB OF GOD: Fan-Filmed Video Footage Of Montreal Concert

Fan-filmed video footage of LAMB OF GOD's October 24 performance at at Metropolis in Montreal, Quebec, Canada can be seen below.

LAMB OF GOD will release a special 10th-anniversary edition of its "As The Palaces Burn" album on November 11.

After some serious detective work tracking down the original album master tapes, the band went in with producer Josh Wilbur (who also produced LAMB OF GOD's "Wrath" and "Resolution" CDs) and gave "Palaces" a full-on, ass-kicking remix and remaster, front to back, top to bottom. The remixed version of "Palaces" is now how they had originally intended it to be.

To go along with the album re-release, LAMB OF GOD also shot a brand new DVD documentary recounting the recording process and the stories behind the music which features new interviews with original producer Devin Townsend, the band members and current producer, Josh Wilbur.

LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler comments: "We are lucky to have the opportunity, a decade after our first attempt, to bring what I consider to be our master work up to speed sonically.

"Ever since the original release, we've been distraught about the sonic qualities of 'As The Palaces Burn'.

"The band had captured lightning in a bottle and the budget limitation of a sophomore album turned our lightning into a firefly in a jar.

"The songs are undeniable and we've always been very proud of how this album launched our career. It feels appropriate to revisit now that we can and give this very special album the chance to reach our original hopes and it's true potential."

"As The Palaces Burn" 10th-anniversary edition track listing:

01. Ruin 02. As The Palaces Burn 03. Purified 04. 11th Hour 05. For Your Malice 06. Boot Scraper 07. A Devil In God’s Country 08. In Defense Of Our Good Name 09. Blood Junkie 10. Vigil 11. Ruin (previously unreleased demo) 12. As The Palaces Burn (previously unreleased demo) 13. Blood Junkie (previously unreleased demo)

ICED EARTH Taps Former SLAYER/TESTAMENT Drummer JON DETTE

ICED EARTH Taps Former SLAYER/TESTAMENT Drummer JON DETTE

For the remainder of ICED EARTH's European tour with VOLBEAT, Jon Dette (SLAYER, TESTAMENT, ANTHRAX) will sit behind the drums, taking over for Raphael Saini, who filled in during the summer festivals, the recording of ICED EARTH's new album, and the club leg of the VOLBEAT tour.

"Raphael came in and helped us out of a tight spot this summer with a full schedule of festivals, a new album to finish, and no room for diversion on the schedule," said ICED EARTH in a statement. "He came in and delivered and we are very grateful for that. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours."

Added Raphael: "When I had the chance to join ICED EARTH for their summer festivals and the new album, I couldn't say no: I was really excited even though I knew that it was going to be something temporary.

"I am honored to be part of the band's history, an amazing album, and to have worked with some supremely talented musicians. My journey will continue, there's more to come."

ICED EARTH earlier in the year parted ways with drummer Brent Smedley for "personal family reasons."

The second leg of ICED EARTH's tour with VOLBEAT kicks off at O2 World in Berlin, Germany, tomorrow, November 6, and wraps at Forum, Copenhagen, Denmark on December 1.

ICED EARTH will release its new album, "Plagues Of Babylon", in January 2014 via Century Media Records. The cover artwork was created and illustrated by Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, ATHEIST, SIGH, ANACRUSIS, GWAR).

WEEDEATER Signs With SEASON OF MIST

WEEDEATER Signs With SEASON OF MIST

Season Of Mist has announced the signing of North Carolina's bastard sons of sludge WEEDEATER. The band's fifth full-length album is due next year.

Commented the group: "When we heard we would be working with Season Of Mist, we almost wrecked our pants. Can't wait for y'all to check out this shit."

Formed out of the ashes of BUZZOV*EN in the late Nineties, WEEDEATER has released four albums so far: "…And Justice For Y'All", "Sixteen Tons", "God Luck And Good Speed" and "Jason… The Dragon". All four will be reissued digitally on December 10. The physical re-releases will hit stores sometime next year.

In a 2011 interview with The Aquarian Weekly, WEEDEATER bassist "Dixie" Dave Collins stated about working with legendary producer Steve Albini: "['Jason… The Dragon' is] the second record in a row we’ve done with him, and he's one of the best producers in the world for analog stuff, for sure, and I've been very fortunate working with nothing but the best. Billy Anderson is also, in my opinion, right in the same caliber, one of the best producers for analog shit and live sound in the world.

"[Steve's] got one of the best recording studios in the world, if not in the U.S. I think the place is awesome. So we had a blast, and it was our second time there and all the same main people that work there are still there, and they're awesome. Look forward to doing another record either with him or Billy or somebody."

"I'm sure it's rare for a band to speak so highly of their label after a 13-year relationship.

"It's an honor to have such a team to work with.

"Relapse's support and friendship is beyond appreciated.

"The Relapse experience is hard to explain, but you can notice immense camaraderie between all the bands on the roster.

"It's been one of the great privileges I've had in the music business to be a part of the Relapse family.

"Thanks guys, tell the world it's doomed!"

Added Carpenter: "We're proud to be a part of the sadistic Relapse family once again.

"SKINLESS is far overdue for a new album so that will be our priority for the next year. Basically, we're going to put the 'Progression', 'Foreshadowing' and 'Trample' albums into a blender, add some guitar solos and serve up the heaviest SKINLESS release yet."

ACE FREHLEY Slams GENE SIMMONS Over

ACE FREHLEY Slams GENE SIMMONS Over 'Cancer' Comments: 'All He Can Do Is Badmouth Other People'

Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley was interviewed on this past Friday night's (November 1) edition of Eddie Trunk's "Eddie Trunk Rocks" radio show on New York's Q104.3 FM. A few excerpts from the chat follow below (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On possibly being inducted — along with his fellow original KISS members — into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame next spring:

Frehley: "I'm happy that I'm gonna be inducted — most likely — next year, in April, in New York City, and it should be a great event. There's no way [KISS bassist/vocalist] Gene [Simmons] can put a lid on it. I mean, what's he gonna do?"

On Gene Simmons' recent comments in an interview in which he compared being in a band with Frehley and original KISS drummer Peter Criss to having "cancer in your system" which must be cut out "as fast as you can": Frehley: "I don't know what's up with Gene. He used to say to me in the '70s, every time I did something stupid, he'd go, 'Ace, you're shooting yourself in the foot again.' Well, he's been shooting himself in the foot for years.

"Gene's living in the past. He's become a caricature of himself. I mean, from the very beginning, his only motivation was money. The guy has no friends; he's not respected by his peers; he's pissed off thousands of fans; he's never had a hit single, like I've had. I had the most successful Gibson signature-series guitar in history. He didn't. It goes on and on. He took the safe route: he never got loaded, he never partied. I took the same route Elvis Presley took and [Jimi] Hendrix and Keith Richards and Jim Morrison… it's endless. I have all this life experience and thank God I can live to talk about it. What's he gonna talk about? All he can do is badmouth other people."

On his refusal to appear in what's being billed as the definitive KISS documentary, "You Wanted The Best You Got The Best", an officially sanctioned film which is being directed by Alan G. Parker:

Frehley: "I don't know. I found it very weird that, instead of getting a call from Gene or [KISS manager] Doc McGhee or [KISS guitarist/vocalist] Paul [Stanley], because they're behind this documentary, instead of getting a call from them, I get a call from my bodyguard, and he got a call from KISS' bodyguard about me doing an interview for this documentary. They tried to go through the back door — probably because they don't wanna pay me any money, as usual, and it left a bad taste in my mouth, and I just passed on it. You want me to do a documentary? Let me know how much money you're making, give me my fair share, and I'll sit down and talk. You don't wanna do it that way? Forget about it… If KISS is behind the documentary, Paul and Gene are making the lion's share of the funds."

On reports that he is fighting a foreclosure action on on his home in Yorktown in Northern Westchester County, New York, 35 miles from New York City, the $735,000 mortgage on which the guitarist reportedly stopped paying on March 1, 2011:

Frehley: "I left the house over two and a half years ago. My attorney is taking care of it. It's not in foreclosure. Things got blown out of propotion. Somebody didn't take care of what they were supposed to do. And my attorney is taking care of it. But, basically, I'm out in California now, and I have people living on that property, taking care of it, and they've been showing it to people who are interested in possibly purchasing it. And the whole thing was kind of a misunderstanding."

On how he likes living in California:

Frehley: "I've lived in New York my whole life. A lot of people used to come out to California and say, 'Hey, what are you doing? You are a traitor.' But since I've been out here, I don’t see myself coming back. I like the climate. I couldn't do the winters anymore. Once you hit 60, it's, like, get me outta here."

SLIPKNOT Drummer

SLIPKNOT Drummer's SCAR THE MARTYR: 'Soul Disintegration' Video Released

"Soul Disintegration", the new video from SCAR THE MARTYR, the new band led by SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison, can be seen below. The song comes off SCAR THE MARTYR's self-titled debut album, which sold around 3,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 129 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was made available on October 1 via Roadrunner Records.

Recorded at Sound Farm Studios in Des Moines, Iowa, SCAR THE MARTYR's album was helmed by Rhys Fulber, whose production and mixing credits include FEAR FACTORY, ROB ZOMBIE, MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE, FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY and more. The CD was written by Joey and lead vocalist Henry Derek Bonner (BLOOD PROMISE), and joining them in the studio were keyboardist Chris Vrenna (NINE INCH NAILS), as well as Simon and Norris, who collectively handled all lead guitars on the album.

"Scar The Martyr" track listing:

01. Intro02. Blood Host03. My Retribution04. Soul Disintegration05. Cruel Ocean06. Dark Ages07. Sign Of The Omeneye08. Anatomy Of Erinyes09. Prayer For Prey10. White Nights In A Day Room11. Effigy Unborn12. Never Forgive Never Forget13. Mind’s Eye14. Last Night On Earth

Bonus tracks:

01. Flatline & Fracture02. Digging For Truth03. Coat Of Arms04. Complications

SCAR THE MARTYR was recently on the road as the support act for DANZIG on a North American tour which also included performances by former MISFITS guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein and HUNTRESS. The trek kicked off August 9 at Sound Academy in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and wrapped up on August 31 at Tempe, Arizona's Marquee Theatre.

In addition to Jordison, SCAR THE MARTYR's lineup for the tour featured singer Henry Derek Bonner (BLOOD PROMISE), guitarists Jed Simon (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD) and Kris Norris (DARKEST HOUR), keyboardist Joey Blush and bassist Kyle Konkiel (IN THIS MOMENT).

"With this project, I focused my efforts on writing for the better of the song," said Jordison. "I wasn't worried about flash or persona... It's all about writing a good solid song. I'm writing music that people can grasp and hold on to...something that resonates. If you don't have that, then you have nothing."

"I'd been working on new SLIPKNOT material since the end of the 'All Hope Is Gone' tour cycle, but I ended up with so much stuff I had to take a step back and stop working on it," he explained to Metal Hammer magazine. "The time wasn't right. But I came up with a bunch of material that was really killer and heavy and started taking some of it in a different direction. I started focusing on a lot of the post-punk and industrial stuff that I've always loved and started putting super heavy and brutal guitars over the top of it. That's how it started. It's taken me a couple of years to get to this point, but I can honestly say this is the most satisfied I've ever been in the studio. I can't wait for everyone to hear this shit."

SCAR THE MARTYR will support ALICE IN CHAINS on their U.K. tour in November.

WARBRINGER:

WARBRINGER: 'Black Sun, Black Moon' Video Released

"Black Sun, Black Moon", the new video from Los Angeles metallers WARBRINGER, can be seen below. The clip was filmed with directorDean Ciocca.

Said WARBRINGER vocalist John Kevill: "We went out to the most desolate stretch of highway we could find out in the Mojave desert. It's a fitting location for this song, which is a motorin' heavy metal tune, with a PRIEST highway-rollin' type feel crossed with the forbidding mysticism of the night!"

He added: "The director Dean Ciocca is an old friend of ours and a talented filmmaker. He came up with the treatment for the song based off the lyrics. He put a great crew together and we shot all through the night!"

"Black Sun, Black Moon" comes off WARBRINGER's fourth studio album, "IV: Empires Collapse", which was released on October 28 in Europe and October 29 in North America via Century Media Records. The studio recording debut for former MANTIC RITUAL members Jeff Potts (guitar) and Ben Mottsman (bass) rounding off WARBRINGER's five-piece lineup, was recorded with producer Steve Evetts (SEPULTURA, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, SUICIDE SILENCE), mixed by Brett Eliason (PEARL JAM, HEART) and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music (CANNIBAL CORPSE, HATEBREED, CONVERGE). The album's cover artwork, which can be seen below, was designed by Adrienne Rozzi.

"IV: Empires Collapse" track listing:

01. Horizon02. The Turning Of The Gears 03. One Dimension 04. Hunter-Seeker 05. Black Sun, Black Moon 06. Scars Remain 07. Dying Light 08. Iron City 09. Leviathan 10. Off With Their Heads! 11. Towers Of The Serpent

Comments WARBRINGER: "The artwork for 'Empires Collapse' came about from wanting to take a much more focused and simplistic approach. Previous WARBRINGER album covers are extremely detailed, busy works, so it was a conscious decision to have art that was the antithesis of what we had done before. John Laux came up with the concept, so we had our friend Adrienne Rozzi make up a sketch, which led to us having her follow through with the final piece. It's incredibly different from what most fans would expect for a WARBRINGER album cover, but we wanted the art to visually reflect the music. The piece reminds me of a tarot card illustration and sets a very cryptic, somber vibe which associates well with the music that ties into the album's title."

JORN Parts Ways With Longtime Drummer WILLY BENDIKSEN

JORN Parts Ways With Longtime Drummer WILLY BENDIKSEN

JORN, the hard rock band fronted by powerhouse Norwegian singer Jorn Lande (MASTERPLAN, ARK), has parted ways with longtime drummer Willy Bendiksen. A replacement drummer has not yet been announced.

JORN in July announced the addition of bassist Thomas Bekkevold to the group's ranks.

JORN's latest album, "Traveller", landed at position No. 12 on the official chart in Norway. The CD was released on June 11 in North America and June 14 in Europe via Frontiers Records.

Considered one of the greatest legends in rock, and by many as the best male rock singer of the millennium, Lande never seems to stop producing music, and is back with yet another slab of classic first-division heavy rock. "Traveller" is definitely a suitable title to fit this gifted and creative viking's extreme productivity.

During his almost-30-year-long career, his albums have sold millions. He managed to release close to 40 albums with various bands/projects in the past decades, and "Traveller" is his eighth studio album under the Jorn banner. Some say he has passed his successors by his gift of being versatile, and ability to not get stuck in the political frames of the music business. A true independent "freebird" hammering his legacy in stone as he goes, with a band of grounded and solid craftsmen to back up his hurricane force voice.

This album represents the first product of the pairing of Jorn Lande and the new JORN guitarist Trond Holter (WIG WAM, DREAM POLICE). The result is eleven new songs encompassing a variety of moods and styles, with Lande's voice shining through memorable anthems, backed by wonderful grooves and tightly-executed classic and melodic heavy metal. "This album has all the elements of the Jorn legacy," says Lande. "It is heavy, but still very melodic and experimental, and it really rocks! As usual we haven't spent much time analyzing the material before recording it, this is an album about life, doom and death reflecting on what I know and thoughts about what I don't."

HAIL OF BULLETS: Fan-Filmed Footage Of

HAIL OF BULLETS: Fan-Filmed Footage Of 'III: The Rommel Chronicles' CD-Release Concert

Fan-filmed video footage of HAIL OF BULLETS' November 2 CD-release concert at Baroeg in Rotterdam, The Netherlands can be seen below.

HAIL OF BULLETS is the Dutch death metal band featuring GOREFEST drummer Ed Warby, THANATOS guitarists Stephan Gebédi and Paul Baayens, vocalist Martin Van Drunen (HAIL OF BULLETS, PESTILENCE, ASPHYX) and former HOUWITSER bass player Theo van Eekelen.

HAIL OF BULLETS' third album, "III: The Rommel Chronicles", was released on October 29 (one day earlier internationally) via Metal Blade Records.

"III The Rommel Chronicles" began to take shape in the second half of 2012 when HAIL OF BULLETS started writing songs for this third album, which sees the band approaching things a bit differently lyric-wise. Instead of describing a certain campaign or theatre of war, this album focuses on the military life, rise and fall of German field marshal Erwin Rommel.

Despite fighting on the wrong side, Rommel was undeniably a great strategist who was both feared and admired by his enemies.

Musically, "III The Rommel Chronicles" recalls a bit of their debut album. The songs are faster, more raw, more aggressive and direct than on "On Divine Winds" which had a more epic, heroic feel. Once again, production duties were handled by Ed Warby and the album was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö. A new lyrical approach also necessitated a different style of artwork, which was provided by Dutch artist Erik Wijnands.

Swanö stated about the new HAIL OF BULLETS longplayer: "HAIL OF BULLETS return for their third album, armed to the teeth with a thunderous death metal onslaught that combines the raw ferocity of the first album with the more expanded arrangements of the second. A death metal masterpiece!"

"III The Rommel Chronicles" track listing:

01. Swoop Of The Falcon02. Pour Le Mérite03. DG-704. To The Last Breath Of Man And Beast05. DAK06. The Desert Fox07. Tobruk08. Farewell To Africa09. The Final Front10. Death Of A Field Marshal

NACHTMYSTIUM: New Song

NACHTMYSTIUM: New Song 'Voyager' Available For Streaming

"Voyager", a brand new song from Chicago-based extremists NACHTMYSTIUM, can be streamed at Stereogum.com. The track will appear on the band's next album, "The World We Left Behind", which will be released in early 2014 via Century Media Records. It was written and produced by NACHTMYSTIUM mainman Blake Judd (who also plays guitars, synth, and sings on it), recorded at Belle City Sound by Chris Wisco, with Tim Preciado on guitar, John Porada on bass, and Sam Shroyer on drums.

Judd, who was arrested early last month on charges of theft by unauthorized control of property not exceeding $500 in value, has since announced plans to spend the coming months with his family and getting additional treatment for his issues with substance abuse. He explained:
"Hello, everyone. I'm home, alive and well. Much to certain people's dismay, the last month wasn't that big of a deal and I actually did some serious soul searching and have made some amazing steps within my own mind on where I've been and where I'm going.

"It's no secret to any of you that I've dealt with serious substance-abuse issues (breaking a leg and getting a four-month supply of Oxycodone from a doctor is where that began back in 2009… not by deciding one day, 'Hey, I want to be an opiate addict!').

"In regards to this issue, I've never tried to hide it; listen to the words in my music. It's obvious what I've been dealing with.

"Today, however, I'm clean as a whistle THANKS to this situation I've been dealing with and I'm SO incredibly grateful that this happened, as it's probably saved my life.

"As for the merch issues and money stuff, yeah, I've fucked up with a lot of you and for this I'm terribly sorry. When you're in the throes of addiction, you'll find yourself doing things that are completely out of character because you're enslaved by something more powerful than you at that point in time.

"I'm ashamed of what's happened regarding this as I've never wished to cheat anyone out of anything nor was it ever the intention. Money just goes quick and one's priorities are completely fucked up when you're in the place that I've been in on and off over the last few years.

"The only thing I can do is to do my best to start clearing up each and every debt that I can as I can afford it over the next few months and hope that will clear my name on this matter with each of you who fell victim to this unfortunate set of circumstances.

"I'm leaving Chicago tomorrow and will not be coming back for quite some time. I'm choosing to spend the coming months with my family and getting additional treatment for my issues with substance abuse because this is the fucking bottom for me. I've hit it and hit it hard. I have no intentions of even attempting to play any shows or work on anything else music related until I've got my life 100% under control again.

"Actually, I'm not even sure if I will continue on with NACHTMYSTIUM, as it's been a catalyst for chaos in my life in its very existence and what it represents creatively.

"There is nothing 'fake' in the contents of my music, particularly on a lyrical level on the last few records. Those are the words of truth from my life. I don't hide anything, it's out there and it's real. So, if you've paid attention, none of this should come as a surprise, as much as I hate to say that.

"On a positive note, however, I've had an amazing run with NACHTMYSTIUM and been to many places, seen many things, played a lot of great shows, met hundreds of or maybe even thousands of amazing people through it, had experiences that most musicians can only dream of having and I was fortunate enough to get to live out many of the dreams of my own that I've had since I was a small child in regards to playing in a successful and well-known rock band. Most importantly, I've made a lot of records that I'm very proud of that I know many of you (per your feedback to me) have enjoyed very much, and for that I'm so grateful. I can only hope that those records will serve your collections well for many years to come and be enjoyed time and time again.

"I have one more in the pipeline recorded last summer that will be out sometime early next year, appropriately titled (given the current climate of my life), 'The World We Left Behind', and I feel that it may be the perfect epitaph to this wild ride I've been on with NACHTMYSTIUM for the last thirteen and a half years. The record tells a story and is easily the most honest work I've ever made, so with that being said, it may very well be the band's last record as it completes the circle for me, I feel. That could always change, but as of today, that's how I'm feeling about it.

"As for the shit-talking on forums and in comment threads on metal news sites and the childish moves of the people at Hells Headbangers with their attempt to further exploit this situation, I find it to be not only incredibly immature but also very embarrassing for them. I'm just thrilled to know that I have no association with this label or these other phantom Internet people who speak about me as though they know me or have a fucking clue about who I am and how I live my life. In doing these things, they've only ensured to all be on a short list of people whom I will not be going out of my way to 'make good' with after such a ridiculous move on their part, regardless of what the issues between myself and them may be.

"That's the only time I'm ever even going to address that topic, as I will not waste my time on such ridiculous shit. Life's too short to be worried about things like this.

"Anyways — that's what I have to say for now.

"I'm fine, doing better than ever actually and I'm looking forward to getting out of Chicago for an indefinite amount of time and completely focusing on my life and not worrying about this band or anything else until I've completely regained control over the demons that have been haunting me for the last three years.

"To all of you who've left supportive messages over the last month, I truly appreciate it and thank and commend you for your public support of me during this time of trials and tribulations in my life.

"And now, I return to my silence.

"I will be back here sometime in the not-too-distant future to get back to work on my music when the time is right.

"Love and light to all of you who have stood by me. Your support nurtures me greatly and is appreciated on levels greater than you may know."

NACHTMYSTIUM's sixth album, "Silencing Machine", was released in July 2012 via Century Media Records.

HYDROGYN:

HYDROGYN: 'Rock Me' Video Released

"Rock Me", the latest video from hard rockers HYDROGYN and the lead single and video from the band's forthcoming release, "Break The Chains", can be seen below.

"Rock Me" was recorded at Wireworld Studio in Nashville, Tennessee by heavyweight producer Michael Wagener along with HYDROGEN's Julie (vocals) and Jeff Westlake (guitar). The band also recorded another track during the same sessions that will be included on the upcoming release.

"Rock Me" was mixed by both Wagener and Jeff Westlake to show different sides of the song.

"Michael had done the original mix, which is big and very Michael Wagener," says Jeff. "Julie and I also went into Ridgeline Studios and did a mix for the video which has a modern twist to it. Both versions will be available."

Adds Julie: "This release is going to be the first of a lot of frequent releases that may or may not be a full album. The price will reflect what it is, but we have decided that we want to keep releasing new material, so we have decided to probably make this an EP format and probably keep new stuff coming out every 6 to 8 months in this fashion."

The "Rock Me" video features Holly Hines of Huntsville, Alabama's ANGEL'S REVENGE, with whom Jeff and Julie are currently working in the studio for their debut release.

HYDROGYN has stated that there will be three videos accompanying the next release.

DEVILDRIVER

DEVILDRIVER 'Ugly Christmas Sweater' Coming Next Month

DEVILDRIVER is offering its own contribution to "ugly Christmas sweater," a ubiquitous feature of the holiday season which began to sprout up in the last several decades.

"Ugly Christmas sweater" or "tacky Christmas sweater" parties have been a holiday staple for several years, but there have been very few places to actually buy these sweaters. That has since changed, according to Time magazine, which reports that vintage stores, the Salvation Army, and Goodwill are reaping the benefits of this craze, as are fast-fashion shops like H&M and high-end retailers such as Nordstrom.

The DEVILDRIVER "ugly Christmas sweater" is part of a holiday bundle that also includes an embroidered scarf, a five-inch vinyl sticker, and a custom DEVILDRIVER ornament. It will be available from IndieMerch.com starting around December 2.

STRYPER

STRYPER's Cover Version Of 'Jesus Is Just Alright' Available For Streaming

STRYPER's cover version of "Jesus Is Just Alright", a gospel song written by Arthur Reid Reynolds, can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below (courtesy of Ultimate Classic Rock). The track comes off the Christian hard rock band's new album, "No More Hell To Pay", which will be released on November 5 in North America via Frontiers Records. The effort will be made available in two formats — standard CD and deluxe digipak featuring exclusive video content. Produced by STRYPER guitarist/vocalist Michael Sweet himself, the set features some of STRYPER's strongest and heaviest material ever.

"Jesus Is Just Alright" was first recorded by Reynolds' own group, THE ART REYNOLDS SINGERS, on their 1966 album, "Tellin' It Like It Is". It was later covered by THE BYRDS and THE DOOBIE BROTHERS.

Asked what made STRYPER want to cover this particular song, Sweet told Ultimate Classic Rock: "We wanted to do a cover on this album. We've done covers through the years — obviously, we did an album of covers [2011's 'The Covering'] most recently.

"When we look for covers, it's kind of like VAN HALEN did with 'Dancing in the Streets'. People were, like, 'What the heck?' We look for songs that are a little more unique that people might not expect us to cover.

"The part of that song that people would, of course, expect are the lyrics and the lyrical content. I mean, it's right down our alley. But musically, it's a little bit different for us, and that's what made it intriguing and interesting to do.

"We enjoyed doing that song and we always loved THE DOOBIE BROTHERS' version.

"We kind of stayed on the same path in terms of the arrangement, but did our own little STRYPER spin as well."
