MÖTLEY CRÜE Taps

MÖTLEY CRÜE Taps 'Jackass' Director For 'The Dirt' Movie

According to Deadline.com, MÖTLEY CRÜE has tapped "Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa" director Jeff Tremaine to helm the long-awaited film adaptation of the band's biography "The Dirt - Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band".

"I've been careful to make this a natural progression," Tremaine tells Deadline.com.

"I've been offered a lot of scripts but 'Dirt' is something I pursued with everything I had.

"I've wanted to make this going back to 2001, when we were just planning the first 'Jackass' movie and I found out that David Gale at MTV Films had just optioned the book.

"First of all, I had no idea how to make 'Jackass' into a movie, but I said to him, 'Let me direct that movie, too.' He said, 'Yeah, of course!' He was being sarcastic, because he had the same level of confidence in me as a director as I did at that time. Luckily for me, the movie never got made, and when this project became available, I put everything I had into chasing it and convincing everyone that I am the right guy for it. I really feel I am."

According to Deadline.com, the "Dirt" will be produced by LBI Entertainment's Rick Yorn and Julie Yorn, along with 10th Street Entertainment and Erik Olsen. Amanda Adelson is co-producing. Tom Kapinos ("Californication") is putting the finishing touches on the script, and the film is being set up independently by CAA to shoot early next year, with the agency repping domestic distribution rights.

Rob Zombie in 2011 denied the widely reported story that he was going to direct "The Dirt". Zombie told Australian web site Undercover, "No, I'm not doing the MÖTLEY CRÜE movie. I don't know where that rumor came from." "That rumor" appeared to originate in a Billboard interview with CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee, in which it was reported that Zombie would direct the on-again, off-again movie.

It was reported in 2008 that MÖTLEY CRÜE was trying to extricate itself from a deal with MTV Films, a division of Paramount Pictures, to make the "The Dirt" movie.

A deal was first announced for the film version in 2006 but had since gone nowhere. Bassist Nikki Sixx told Reuters that MTV was "a channel that used to be hip and has now actually become unhip...They are not the right partner."

LOVE/HATE Guitarist Threatens To Sue Singer JIZZY PEARL Over

LOVE/HATE Guitarist Threatens To Sue Singer JIZZY PEARL Over 'Crucified' Album

Founding LOVE/HATE guitarist Jon E. Love has threatened to sue the band's lead singer Jizzy Pearl over a new album that is scheduled to be released under the LOVE/HATE name.

"Crucified" — described in a press release as "the first LOVE/HATE record of all-original music in years" — sees Pearl "taking the 'old' out of old-school and delivering songs that sound every bit as classic as the classic LOVE/HATE songs fans have grown to love."

In a post on his Facebook page, Love writes: "This is not a LOVE/HATE record. Jizzy has taken it upon himself to release his solo shit and call it LOVE/HATE. None of the original members are on it. How do I know this? Because the idiot insulted me when asking me to perform on it. Any true LOVE/HATE fan will immediately know it's not the real band. Stay tuned — more to follow as I proceed to sue him."

Love is currently recording an album with his band JON E. LOVE & THE HATERS.

Pearl's LOVE/HATE will perform on next year's Monsters Of Rock cruise, which will take place March 29 - April 2.

LOVE/HATE's debut album, "Blackout in the Red Room", reached No. 154 on The Billboard 200 in 1990. The video for the single "Why Do You Think They Call It Dope?" was in rotation on MTV, chiefly on "Headbanger's Ball".

In 1992 when they released a second album "Wasted in America", Jizzy Pearl used himself in a legendary publicity stunt to help album sales. This stunt, with the help of a few others, included Jizzy successfully erecting a cross on the Hollywood sign and positioned himself on it. There are two incarnations of LOVE/HATE, before Jizzy Pearl left for L.A. GUNS and after he returned to restart LOVE/HATE. The second incarnation ended quickly as Jizzy Pearl left again to join RATT.

MURDERDOLLS Frontman Hasn

MURDERDOLLS Frontman Hasn't Spoken To JOEY JORDISON In Two And A Half Years

During a brand new interview with Australia's Loud magazine, MURDERDOLLS singer Wednesday 13 was asked once again if there is any chance of him regrouping anytime soon to work on a new studio album. "I haven't spoken to Joey [Jordison, MURDERDOLLS guitarist and SLIPKNOT/SCAR THE MARTYR drummer] in almost two and a half years," Wednesday 13 said. "The communication lines have been closed for quite some time and I'm not given to why or anything. But it's the same as last time, you know. We didn't talk for years and it took us eight years to get back in the studio. It's very rock and roll. It's very dysfunctional and that band has played with dysfunction from the very beginning to the last part, on all sides. So if it happens again... I didn't expect it to happen the last time I did it, so I'm just going to leave it up to fate." MURDERDOLLS issued its sophomore album, "Women And Children Last", in August 2010 via Roadrunner Records. The CD, which was recorded at a studio in Hollywood Hills, California with producer Chris "Zeuss" Harris (HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD), sold 8,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 43 on The Billboard 200 chart.

In an interview with the Classic 21 radio station at this year's Graspop Metal Meeting, which was held June 28-30 in Dessel, Belgium, Jordison was asked if the MURDERDOLLS has officially come to an end. "Yeah. We're not doing anymore records," Joey replied. He elaborated in a separate interview with Metal Insider: "Nothing really happened [to cause the end of the MURDERDOLLS]. I really loved the last MURDERDOLLS record ['Women And Children Last']. It's just that, for me personally, I had enough of it, you know? I mean, it was fun but it's not where my heart lies in music. I lie more with drums and the more heavy and darker aspects of music. I need to push myself in different areas and I can't rely on the MURDERDOLLS to satisfy me artistically."

In a May 2012 interview, Wednesday was a little bit more optimistic about MURDERDOLLS' future, saying: "I love the band. It got me where I am. The last record we put out, 'Women And Children Last', it may be my favorite record I've ever put out — just because there was so much intensity in that record and just such a good time put into it. And if the band never happens again, we never do anything again, I know we went out on a high note with that record. And we got to do as much touring as we possibly could. Unfortuantely, some stuff got cut short. But yeah, man, that was a big part of my life again, and if it happens again, it happens; and if it doesn't, it doesn't. I hate to say it's never gonna happen, and then you see another one of those 'reunion' tours. So I'll just leave it open."

FAILURE Confirms Reunion; First Performance In 15 Years Slated For February

FAILURE Confirms Reunion; First Performance In 15 Years Slated For February

FAILURE, the influential rock outfit which disbanded in 1997, has confirmed what has been rumored in recent weeks: the group has reunited and will play its first live show in over fifteen years on February 13, 2014 at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles.

Tickets for the special evening will go on sale this Thursday, November 7 at 10 a.m.

A limited-edition seven-inch single featuring two rarities will be available to the first 250 ticket purchasers at these exclusive outlets: Amoeba Music (6400 W. Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles), Origami Vinyl (1816 W. Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles) and Axs.com. "Once you put aside all the historical baggage, hype, regrets, etc., there is one truth that remains," explained FAILURE's Ken Andrews. "When we play music together, something happens that is very hard to define and equally difficult to duplicate."

FAILURE formed in Los Angeles in the early '90s and released its debut album, "Comfort", in 1992 via Slash Records. "Magnified" followed in the spring of 1994, with the band's final offering, "Fantastic Planet", seeing the light of day in 1996.

"Fantastic Planet" earned a perfect 5-star score from Alternative Press, with the magazine saying the album was able "to breathe life into the corpse of contemporary, guitar-driven rock," adding that the band was "willing to stretch the definition of both their instruments and their songs." A brand new interview with Andrews about the FAILURE reunion can be found on SPIN.com.

MARILYN MANSON

MARILYN MANSON's 'Eastbound & Down' Cameo: Shock Rocker Like You've Never Seen Him Before

Shock rocker Marilyn Manson's cameo on the HBO show "Eastbound & Down" can be seen below (courtesy of TMZ.com).

The musician, whose real name is Brian Hugh Warner, appeared without his trademark goth makeup in the scene after reportedly lobbying the producers for the last couple of years to cast him in the show.

It was announced last month that Manson was joining the cast of the hit ABC TV series "Once Upon A Time". Manson will provide the voice for The Shadow, a being which was first seen at the end of the show's second season and has already appeared in the recently started third year. Manson will make his debut on the season's eighth episode, scheduled to air in mid-November. According to The Pulse Of Radio, show creators and executive producers Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz said in a statement, "We've always been enormous fans of Marilyn Manson. We wanted to cast someone with the vocal ability to make our skin crawl."

The show takes place in the fictional town of Storybrooke, Maine, in which its residents are actually characters from various fairy tales that were transported to the "real world" town and robbed of their real memories by a powerful curse.

The Shadow is a mysterious being that kidnaps young children from their beds to take them back to the fantasy realm of Neverland and steal their souls.

The main storyline of the third season involves the cast traveling to Neverland to search for the character of Henry Mills, who has been snatched by an evil version of Peter Pan.

Manson has appeared in a handful of movies and TV shows before, most recently on the Showtime series "Californication" — where he played himself — and the Sundance Channel program "Wrong Cops".

He has spent most of the past year touring behind his 2012 album, "Born Villain".

DAVE MUSTAINE

DAVE MUSTAINE 'Indirectly' Chose Song For STRYPER's New Video, Says MICHAEL SWEET

"Sympathy", the new video from Christian hard rockers STRYPER, can be seen below (courtesy of USAToday.com). The song comes off the band's new album, "No More Hell To Pay", which will be released on November 5 in North America via Frontiers Records. The effort will be made available in two formats — standard CD and deluxe digipak featuring exclusive video content. Produced by STRYPER guitarist/vocalist Michael Sweet himself, the set features some of STRYPER's strongest and heaviest material ever.

Regarding the decision to film a video for "Sympathy", Sweet tells BLABBERMOUTH.NET: "I sent [MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine] the record and he picked 'Sympathy' as his favorite song on the record. We went with his lead (I respect Dave as artist and friend) and wound up making a video for the song.

"The video was filmed in Las Vegas at the same time/day we shot the [video for the title track of] 'No More Hell To Pay', as well as a 20-minute documentary, available on the CD/DVD deluxe version of the new album.

"So, indirectly, Dave chose the new STRYPER song/video."

Mustaine previously wrote a blurb/quote for Michael Sweet's forthcoming autobiography, "Honestly", which is expected next year. Dave wrote: "Sometimes you see someone or something and you think you got it all figured out, just to find you were pretty far off base. That's a sucky feeling. I learned a long time ago not to judge a book by its cover, and as much as I used to think that I am nothing like Michael Sweet, I have come to realize that we both have had a lot of hardships in common; the same trials and tribulations, the same band problems, and some of the same relationship issues. Fortunately for us, we both believe in the same Jesus, and serve the same amazing, loving creator, so it's no wonder that we would both be standing on the same victorious side of life, once all the smoke clears at the end of the fight. I hope you will enjoy his memoirs and come to a new understanding and a new appreciation of Michael Sweet."

"No More Hell To Pay" includes STRYPER's cover version of "Jesus Is Just Alright", a gospel song written by Arthur Reid Reynolds.

"No More Hell To Pay" track listing:

01. Revelation02. No More Hell To Pay03. Saved By Love04. Jesus Is Just Alright05. The One06. Legacy07. Marching Into Battle08. Te Amo09. Sticks & Stones10. Water Into Wine11. Sympathy12. Renewed

VINCE NEIL Says He Met With

VINCE NEIL Says He Met With 'The Celebrity Apprentice' Producers

On October 31, MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil was interviewed on the lifestyle program "More Access" on Las Vegas's Fox 5 television station.

Asked about his rumored appearance on the next season of NBC's "The Celebrity Apprentice", Neil said (see video below): "I met with 'The Celebrity Apprentice', I went down to NBC and met with the producers and the network and stuff. And they figure, everything's great, they don't wanna announce anything, but… That's all I ever said — that I'm up for it. And then there's some reporters in this town who, their journalism isn't very good, and they just kind of jump to conclusions and write, basically, lies. So I never said I was going to be on it. I said I'm up for it."

Norm Clarke of Las Vegas Review-Journal reported last month that Neil had "been telling friends" he will appear on the next season of the Donald Trump-hosted celebrity version of "The Apprentice", which has contestants compete to win money for their favorite charities. Celebrity contestants take part in business-driven tasks around New York City and work grueling hours on mentally challenging tasks that test their ability to work together.

Previous rockers who have appeared on "The Celebrity Apprentice" include TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider and POISON's Bret Michaels.

Ratings for "The Celebrity Apprentice" were down about 20 percent last season, but the show still frequently led the 10 p.m. Sunday timeslot in adults 18-49, according to Zap2It.

NBC has yet to officially renew "The Celebrity Apprentice" for the 2013-14 season but NBC's head of alternative programming, Paul Telegdy, said plans are progressing for the return of the series. "We are on track to produce 'The Celebrity Apprentice' as always planned, coordinating among New York City weather conditions, sponsor needs, and celebrities' schedules," he said.

RHAPSODY OF FIRE in June "respectfully" parted ways with their American guitarist Tom Hess due to "philosophical differences."

RHAPSODY OF FIRE released a new live album, "Live - From Chaos To Eternity", on May 3 in Europe and May 7 in the USA via AFM Records. It was made available as two-CD digipak and as limited three-vinyl set. The material (a mixture of old classics and newer tracks) was recorded on the band’s latest European tour in spring 2012.

Staropoli and RHAPSODY OF FIRE guitarist Luca Turilli in 2011 announced their decision to go their separate ways.

Due to legal reasons, Staropoli is continuing under the RHAPSODY OF FIRE name. Turilli, on the other hand, is making his efforts available under the RHAPSODY moniker (RHAPSODY OF FIRE's original name), in which he is joined by guitarist Dominique Leurquin, bassist Patrice Guers, singer Alessandro Conti (TRICK OR TREAT) and drummer Alex Landenburg (AT VANCE, ANNIHILATOR, MEKONG DELTA, STRATOVARIUS).

RHAPSODY OF FIRE's latest album, "From Chaos To Eternity", was released in North America on July 12, 2011 via Nuclear Blast Records. Described by the band as "the natural evolution" from 2010's "The Frozen Tears Of Angels", the CD marks RHAPSODY OF FIRE's final release based on the fantasy saga started in 1997 with the group's debut album, "Legendary Tales".

DREAM THEATER:

DREAM THEATER: 'On The Backs Of Angels' Performance Clip From 'Live At Luna Park'

On November 5, Eagle Rock Entertainment will release "Dream Theater: Live At Luna Park" on 2DVD, Blu-ray, visual digital formats and a deluxe edition. The deluxe edition is an 11.5" square 60 page hardback photobook containing the Blu-ray, 2 DVDs and 3 CDs presenting all the key physical formats in one release; the CDs are only available in this deluxe edition. These releases boast the 160 minute main show — accompanied by a wealth of bonus material — and feature many of the band's classic tracks, including "Metropolis Pt. 1", "The Silent Man", "Pull Me Under", "The Root Of All Evil", "The Test That Stumped Them All", "The Spirit Carries On" and the recent "On The Backs Of Angels".

DREAM THEATER began their mammoth "A Dramatic Tour Of Events" world trek in July 2011 with the final leg in South America taking place in August 2012. It was here at the Luna Park Arena in Buenos Aires, Argentina, that they decided to film the two nights that make up this DVD release. The "Live At Luna Park" band lineup for this show is James LaBrie (vocals); John Petrucci (guitar); Jordan Rudess (keyboards); John Myung (bass); and Mike Mangini (drums). This was DREAM THEATER's first tour and album with their new drummer and all the tracks from that album, "A Dramatic Turn Of Events", are included in either the main show or the bonus performances.

The bonus features offer live versions of six great tracks: "These Walls"; "Build Me Up, Break Me Down"; "Caught In A Web"; "Wait For Sleep"; "Far From Heaven"; and "Pull Me Under". Also on "Live At Luna Park" is a documentary, the trailer for the cinema release of the film, a "behind-the-scenes" feature and the cartoon intro that ran on big screens prior to the band taking to the stage in Buenos Aires. The Blu-ray additionally features six multi-angle options on "Outcry".

The "On The Backs Of Angels" performance clip taken from "Live At Luna Park" can be seen below.

Roadrunner Records e-mailed guitarist John Petrucci and keyboardist Jordan Rudess to get their thoughts on these special shows.

Roadrunner Records: You played four songs with a string quartet over the two nights. Who did the arrangements?

Jordan Rudess: All the string parts were written by Eren Basbug, the young and talented Turkish musician that I discovered online through his beautiful orchestrations of DREAM THEATER's music and then his great work orchestrating and conducting the premiere of my own composition, "Explorations For Keyboard And Orchestra". For two of the songs we did live with the quartet ("Beneath The Surface" and "Far From Heaven") I had originally arranged and recorded quartet-like string parts from my keyboard, and that is what you hear on "A Dramatic Turn Of Events". Eren was able to take those two songs and really make sure what I wrote worked for real players, as well as add some nice touches! For the other two songs, "The Silent Man" and "Wait For Sleep", he created original quartet arrangements.

Roadrunner Records: How much rehearsal time did you have with the quartet?

John Petrucci: We played through each song with them a couple of times at soundcheck. We probably spent about an hour in total making sure they were comfortable and that they knew certain cues, etc.

Jordan Rudess: We had one rehearsal before the first show. I had sent all the music to coordinator Luis Gorelik (who is a well known conductor in South America) and he helped organize the players.

Roadrunner Records: How did their presence alter the way you guys in the band played those songs? Obviously they weren't just sawing away in the background; they were integral to the music, so…in what ways?

John Petrucci: Honestly, we played the songs just as we have been and they followed us. On "Beneath The Surface" and "Far From Heaven", they basically played the arrangements that are on the album. Original arrangements were created for "The Silent Man" and "Wait For Sleep".

Jordan Rudess: In our rehearsal, I was literally conducting them and we all worked quickly to get things into shape and make sure the players really understood the music and what was going to happen in the chain of events on stage. The good thing was that these four songs all really are totally suitable for real strings, so it was an easy conceptual/musical addition to our presentation.

Roadrunner Records: Other than the new album (which was played almost in its entirety each night), the albums you played the most material from were "Images And Words", "Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence" and "Awake". Why those albums, from your perspective?

John Petrucci: We try to create a show that has a certain curve to it. The way that it begins, unfolds and concludes are all carefully thought about. We have so much material at this point that it's difficult to fit in songs from each album. Based on what we played on past tours as well as the flow and arc of the show, we thought these were the strongest choices.

Jordan Rudess: There are so many factors that are in play to create a setlist. Generally, we all felt that we offered a night of music that was a well-balanced mixture of our material that not only spanned a lot of our albums but also flowed really well for the course of the evening.

Roadrunner Records: On the second night, you guys played "Pull Me Under" as the encore, which you've been playing a lot more on tour this year than in the past few years… but only outside the U.S. Is that a song foreign audiences want to hear more than fans at home?

John Petrucci: "Pull Me Under" always goes over, no matter what country we are in. It just has that kind of power and familiarity, I guess. We really thought that it sounded great with [new drummer] Mike Mangini playing it and wanted to share that with our listeners.

Jordan Rudess: I don't know — but I will tell you that they literally were trying to rush the stage in Buenos Aires when we played it. It was nuts!

LAMB OF GOD: Entire 10th-Anniversary Edition Of

LAMB OF GOD: Entire 10th-Anniversary Edition Of 'As The Palaces Burn' Available For Streaming

Richmond, Virigina metallers LAMB OF GOD will release a special 10th-anniversary edition of their "As The Palaces Burn" album on November 11. You can now stream the entire CD using the SoundCloud widget below (courtesy of RollingStone.com).

After some serious detective work tracking down the original album master tapes, the band went in with producer Josh Wilbur (who also produced LAMB OF GOD's "Wrath" and "Resolution" CDs) and gave "Palaces" a full-on, ass-kicking remix and remaster, front to back, top to bottom. The remixed version of "Palaces" is now how they had originally intended it to be.

To go along with the album re-release, LAMB OF GOD also shot a brand new DVD documentary recounting the recording process and the stories behind the music which features new interviews with original producer Devin Townsend, the band members and current producer, Josh Wilbur.

LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler comments: "We are lucky to have the opportunity, a decade after our first attempt, to bring what I consider to be our master work up to speed sonically.

"Ever since the original release, we've been distraught about the sonic qualities of 'As The Palaces Burn'.

"The band had captured lightning in a bottle and the budget limitation of a sophomore album turned our lightning into a firefly in a jar.

"The songs are undeniable and we've always been very proud of how this album launched our career. It feels appropriate to revisit now that we can and give this very special album the chance to reach our original hopes and it's true potential."

"As The Palaces Burn" 10th-anniversary edition track listing:

01. Ruin 02. As The Palaces Burn 03. Purified 04. 11th Hour 05. For Your Malice 06. Boot Scraper 07. A Devil In God’s Country 08. In Defense Of Our Good Name 09. Blood Junkie 10. Vigil 11. Ruin (previously unreleased demo) 12. As The Palaces Burn (previously unreleased demo) 13. Blood Junkie (previously unreleased demo)

To order "As The Palaces Burn" 10th-anniversary edition, go to this location.

The "Vigil" video can be seen below. The clip was directed by Don Argott and edited by Demian Fenton, the team responsible for the forthcoming LAMB OF GOD feature film "As The Palaces Burn", which is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release in February 2014.

Ex-DRAGONFORCE Singer

Ex-DRAGONFORCE Singer's I AM I: 'See You Again' Video Released

"See You Again", the new video from I AM I, the band led by former DRAGONFORCE singer ZP Theart, can be seen below. The song will be released as a single on November 11 (distributed by Plastichead).

A founding member of DRAGONFORCE, Theart made four studio albums and a live record with the band and toured the world for a decade, eventually performing to audiences of up to 85,000 people. His time with the group also saw him nominated for a Grammy in 2009. After his departure from DRAGONFORCE in 2010, ZP worked tirelessly to put together his own group and, after catefully handpicking a set of expert musicians, the result was one of the most exciting new rock bands of 2012, I AM I. A promotional single entitled "Silent Genocide" in the summer was followed by the release of a debut album, "Event Horizon", in September 2012. Written and produced by ZP and Polish-born guitarist Jacob Ziemba and mixed and mastered by Roland Grapow (HELLOWEEN, MASTERPLAN), its stunning blend of melody-filled metal and riff-based rock topped off by ZP's soaring vocal performances completed a package that was acclaimed worldwide by critics and audiences alike.

Released shortly after their first festival performance at Bloodstock Open Air, I AM I supported the album with a set of U.K. dates. Tours with UGLY KID JOE and SKID ROW ensued, while the band also performed electric and acoustic sets at both Hard Rock Hell 2012 and Download 2013. Generating positive reactions wherever they have played, the band are an absolute must see live, while ZP performs honestly and effortlessly, epitomising everything a real rock front man should be.

Explains ZP: "'See You Again' is our take on something that's been missing from the rock scene for some considerable time now — a proper rock ballad.

"Releasing a ballad as a single is probably not what most people would expect from us, but that's exactly why we have gone ahead and done it!"

As for its subject matter: "Since the dawn of mankind, we have longed for a lost loved one once they left this consciousness, knowing after life we will all meet up again in some way. The intent of this song is to take the edge off the waiting game. You may be gone, but while I'm here I'll remember you, and when it's time, I will see you again."

With live dates currently being arranged for the autumn of 2013 and a spring 2014 tour, fans will soon have an opportunity to witness the lineup of I AM I, which has recently seen the former POWER QUEST duo of guitarist Andy Midgley and drummer Rich Smith join band mainstays ZP, guitarist Jacob Ziemba and bassist Neil Salmon to complete a formidable quintet.

MEGADETH

MEGADETH's DAVID ELLEFSON: 'My Life With Deth' EPK Available

A two-minute EPK (Electronic Press Kit) on MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson's autobiography, "My Life With Deth", can be seen below.

The autobiography of Ellefson, co-founder and bassist of 11-time Grammy-nominated heavy metal titans MEGADETH, was made available on October 29 via Howard Books. Ellefson's memoir, "My Life With Deth", chronicles the story of Ellefson's fall into addiction during the band's early years, followed by his subsequent recovery and the return to faith which championed the band's rise to fame over the past several decades. The book was written with Joel McIver, the bestselling author of 21 books on rock music, and features a foreword by Alice Cooper. World rights to "My Life With Deth" were sold to Philis Boultinghouse at Howard Books by agent Lisa Gallagher at Sanford J. Greenburger Associates.

Since 1983, the celebrated metal band MEGADETH has sold more than 20 million albums, received eleven Grammy nominations, and built a fan base of millions. Still going strong, they recently toured the world with METALLICA, ANTHRAX and SLAYER. Now, in "My Life With Deth", Ellefson tells the whole behind-the-scenes story of the band and his personal journey from suffering to salvation.

At first glance, Ellefson's history reads like a how-to manual of excess, from hardcore drugs to X-rated debauchery. But Ellefson goes much deeper, taking us on a gripping journey from his Lutheran upbringing as a Minnesota farm boy, through the culture shock he experienced when he arrived in Los Angeles and entered the music industry, to his drug-fueled MEGADETH days, and finally how he beat his addictions and embarked on a path of sobriety and faith, entering a new life of Christian devotion. Today, studying to become a Lutheran pastor, Ellefson presides over MEGA Life! Ministries, a foundation that reaches hundreds of churchgoers every week.

Ellefson says: "My autobiography is not the usual tale of rock 'n' roll woe, but rather something I hope will truly inspire people. I have dedicated my life to my craft, and I wanted to share the story of how a kid with a bass guitar and the dream of rock stardom literally risked it all to move from the farm in Minnesota to Los Angeles, and with a lot of hard work, sacrifice and a little luck along the way, made the dream come true. I think the readers will enjoy the stories, as well as the hardships, of this way of life as a musician and artist. I've been very open about my life's obstacles and the means by which I overcame them. Now, my hope is that this story will inspire others to follow their dreams and really live out the purpose for their lives, too.” The book features contributions from Kerry King (SLAYER), Scott Ian (ANTHRAX), Ellefson's current bandmate in MEGADETH Shawn Drover and also former colleagues Chris Poland and Marty Friedman.

In addition to numerous gold and platinum records, David is the author of the book "Making Music Your Business" and has two metal bass guitar instructional DVDs through Rock House Method entitled "Metal Bass Vol. 1" and "Vol. 2". He is also a featured bass clinician, keynote speaker and panelist on the subject of music and the music industry.

EXTREME Bassist PAT BADGER Releases Solo Single

EXTREME Bassist PAT BADGER Releases Solo Single

"Whatever Happened 2 Us", the new solo single from bassist Pat Badger of reactivated Massachusetts hard rockers EXTREME, can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below.

Pat has been collaborating with his "good buddy" Bleu McAuley for over six months on material that will appear on Badger's upcoming debut "solo" album. said Pat: "[Blue] is one of my favorite artists, songwriters and he is also producing the album."

He added: "Some of you may also know Joe Pessia (HURTSMILE, TANTRIC, DRAMAGODS) who is playing guitars along with Bleu on the album.

"Kevin Figueiredo, my favorite drummer in the universe (and the other half of EXTREME's rhythm section) is also playing on this record.

"Things are really coming together and I've never been so excited about making an album in my life!!!

"It's been a while since the last EXTREME album and tour and as much as I love being around family, animals and the peaceful farm life when I'm home… I have really missed being in the studio creating new music.

"And, of course, taking on the role of lead singer, I'm really spreading my wings on this one!

"I have also had a few rough years on a personal note and it has really inspired me to write some lyrics and let it all out. Not all of the songs are autobiographical, but I'm ready to get on the microphone and purge! (And the studio is cheaper by the hour than a therapist.)

"With the music biz having changed so drastically since EXTREME's heyday, I knew that this album was going to be different. That's why I decided to team up with Pledge Music and bring you all in on the experience of making it and putting it out! I've always REALLY appreciated YOU (our fans) and promise that this is gonna be a blast… and a ride that we'll never forget!"

EXTREME's "Take Us Alive" live CD and DVD came out on May 4, 2010 in the U.S. via Frontiers Records.

In 2008, following a 13-year hiatus, EXTREME returned to the stage for its "Take Us Alive" world tour, which encompassed 75 cities and multiple continents in support of the band's latest record, "Saudades de Rock".

This brilliant performance was recorded on the last night of their tour at the House of Blues on August 8, 2009 in EXTREME's hometown of Boston.

SEBASTIAN BACH Says His New Solo Album Is

SEBASTIAN BACH Says His New Solo Album Is 'The Perfect Follow-Up' To 'Kicking & Screaming'

Former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach is putting the finishing touches on his new solo album for an early 2014 release via Frontiers Records. The follow-up to 2011's "Kicking & Screaming" is once again being produced by Bob Marlette, who has previously worked with ROB ZOMBIE, BLACK SABBATH and SHINEDOWN, among others.

Says Bach: "I am just resting my body and soul after singing all day every day for this past week for the new record.

"Once again, producer Bob Marlette has outdone himself and this is the perfect follow-up to 'Kicking & Screaming'. I am extremely excited for you all to hear it!

"I have been putting in long hours every single day making sure that it is kicking your ass in every way possible and it is sounding great!

"Bach to work on Monday. The album is almost done!"

Sebastian managed to involve in the writing and recording some very special friends and guest stars, including none other than Duff McKagan (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES), and not one but two top-class guitar players: John 5 (MARILYN MANSON, ROB ZOMBIE) and Steve Stevens (BILLY IDOL). Rounding out the lineup on the CD are Devin Bronson (AVRIL LAVIGNE, PINK) on guitar and Bobby Jarzombek (HALFORD, RIOT, FATES WARNING) on drums. Duff and Sebastian previously collaborated on Duff's solo album "Believe In Me".

Bach's recent CD/DVD package, "ABachalypse Now", was released in North America on March 26 via Frontiers Records. The "ABachalypse Now" Ultimate CD/DVD Edition includes never-before-seen footage from last year's Graspop Metal Meeting festival in Dessel, Belgium, the full never-before-seen Hellfest set from France and the fully-remixed and remastered Nokia show from Los Angeles (originally broadcast on AXS TV), as well as bonus music videos. The DVD contains a running time of nearly 160 minutes. "ABachalypse Now" was made available in two configurations: the Ultimate CD/DVD Edition (2 CDs + DVD) and a standalone DVD.

Video: KISS Performs Rarities During 'KISS Kruise III'

Keith Leroux for of KISS' official web site, KissOnline.com, has uploaded video footage of the band's first indoor performance during the Kiss Kruise III, which took place from October 28 to November 1 on board the Norwegian Pearl from Miami, Florida to Key West, Florida and Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas.

KISS played "Almost Human" (from 1977's "Love Gun" album) for the first time ever, as well as several rarely performed songs, including "The Oath" (from 1981's "Music From The Elder") and "Mainline" (from 1974's "Hotter Than Hell") — a track originally sung by former KISS drummer Peter Criss.

In a 2012 interview, KISS frontman Paul Stanley stated about the band's desire to throw in several surprises during the Kiss Kruise shows: "You have to remember that when we play in bigger places, we play for the bigger crowds and the people on the Kruise are die-hards. You can do something special for the die-hards that would not be appreciated by the masses. You can do things in a Kiss Kruise we can't do in an arena because those people wouldn't appreciate what we are doing."

The band's setlist for the October 29 concert was as follows:

01. Anything For My Baby02. Shout It Out Loud03. Do You Love Me04. Almost Human05. Hell Or Hallelujah06. War Machine07. The Oath08. Say Yeah09. Mainline10. Lick It Up11. Love Gun12. Let Me Know13. Black Diamond14. Detroit Rock City15. Rock And Roll All Nite

EXODUS To Enter Studio In February, Says GARY HOLT

EXODUS To Enter Studio In February, Says GARY HOLT

Bay Area Backstage conducted an interview with SLAYER touring members Gary Holt (guitar, also of EXODUS) and Paul Bostaph (drums) before the band's October 30 concert in San Joese, California. You can now watch the chat below.

Asked about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the next EXODUS album, Holt said: "This [SLAYER] tour runs 'till… I get home December 1, and I've been writing for the last several months. Actually, I go home tomorrow for one day, then fly to Seattle. So when I resume this tour, I'm bringing my recording gear with me and continuing to work in hotel rooms. We're tentatively slated to start recording the next EXODUS February 1, and it's crushing — it's ridiculously fast and heavy. It's been a long time coming, so people, they're hungry and they're tired of waiting. So it's gonna be a pleasant surprise."

EXODUS recently completed a European tour of 17 cities, with stops in Barcelona, Dublin, London and more. Although SLAYER tapped the talents of guitarist Gary Holt for their European tour, Holt performed at select EXODUS dates. When Holt was not performing with EXODUS, HEATHEN guitarist Kragen Lum was filling in on guitar.

EXODUS' latest album, "Exhibit B: The Human Condition", was released in North America on May 18, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records.

The CD sold around 4,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 114 on The Billboard 200 chart.

EXODUS' previous album, "The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A", opened with 3,600 units back in October 2007.

Video: TATE-Less QUEENSRŸCHE Performs In Eindhoven

Video: TATE-Less QUEENSRŸCHE Performs In Eindhoven

Fan-filmed video footage of the Todd La Torre-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE performing on November 1 at Effenaar Grote Zaal in Eindhoven, The Netherlands can be seen below.

The Todd La Torre-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE recently filmed a "mini movie," with the tracks "Spore", "Midnight Lullaby", "A World Without" and "X2" providing the score to a 10-plus minute story, dubbed "Queensrÿche: Ad Lucem". The film was created by Veva Entertainment Co. with director Daniel Andres Gomez Bagby and producer Marco De Molina and was filmed last month on location at Central City Stages in Los Angeles.

QUEENSRŸCHE's new, self-titled album sold around 13,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 23 on The Billboard 200 chart. The record arrived in stores on June 25 via Century Media Records.

"Queensrÿche" marks the debut release from the lineup comprised of Todd La Torre (vocals; ex-CRIMSON GLORY), Michael Wilton (guitar), Parker Lundgren (guitar), Eddie Jackson (bass) and Scott Rockenfield (drums). The drums for the album were recorded at London Bridge Studios in Seattle, Washington with producer James "Jimbo" Barton — the man who engineered and mixed the band's classic 1988 LP, "Operation: Mindcrime", and its 1990 follow-up, "Empire", and co-produced 1994's "Promised Land". The rest of the music and vocals were laid down at several different facilities on the West Coast. The cover artwork was created by Craig Howell, who has previously worked on designs for "Star Wars", SLIPKNOT and "American Idol", to name a few.

TESTAMENT Guitarist Working On New DRAGONLORD Album

TESTAMENT Guitarist Working On New DRAGONLORD Album

David Devo Oosthuizen of The Metal Review recently conducted an interview with guitarist Eric Peterson of San Francisco Bay Area metal veterans TESTAMENT. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

The Metal Review: I recently read that you will start already writing and recording your eleventh studio album for a 2014 release. What's your plans here so close after the release of "Dark Roots Of Thrash"?

Eric: We will definitely start to work on new material next year. However, how it all pans out and how it all comes together will still have to be seen. We definitely have some ideas. We never want to make a record just to make a record. It has to have vibe and appeal and we have to know what the record will be about. We will need to write some songs to give birth to that. We are doing a couple of tours coming up where we can start thinking about stuff like that. We will be doing the LAMB OF GOD tour October and November. In February next year we will start getting together and start thinking about the new record.

The Metal Review: Recently TRIVIUM's Matt Heafy shared some interesting thoughts on the state of metal in 2013. What is your take on this?

Eric: There seems to be a lot of cool new bands out there, you know, heavy stuff. However, I personally would like to see more diversity. Maybe it is out there and I have just not seen it. I would like to see singers be more distinctive. A lot of heavy metal these days is almost like rap with screaming over it in a death metal kind of style. When I listen to radio stations, I get confused, as all the bands sound the same and there are a lot of them out there. Don't get me wrong, they may be good at what they do, but I just do not think there is much originality in what they do. If you take, for instance, a band like GHOST that sounds completely different; there is true originality there. I am, of course, a big fan and I really like their style. You cannot compare these new bands to, for instance, a band like KREATOR; they are a distinctive band and all the members care deeply for what they are doing.

The Metal Review: In terms of the CD market dying, do you think it has to do with the lack of diversity (bands producing purely for what they hope will sell)? Whereas, on the other hand, the sale of vinyl is growing rapidly again and is being hailed as a comeback. What are your views on this?

Eric: For me, the appeal of vinyl as a fan is not even as much to play it, but just to hold a record, to open it and look at the great artwork in a way in which is supposed to be done. You know, power artwork. I know at my house, my son in particular, half of his music is on the iPod whereas the other half he is listening to in his room on a stereo system on record. He will have all his records spread all over his bed. There is just something cool about that needle on the record.

The Metal Review: What are the chances of a new DRAGONLORD album, given the last release was "Black Wings Of Destiny" back in 2005?

Eric: I am actually recording it as we speak! I just recorded all the drums with a new drummer [Alex Bent]. He is 20 years old from a band called DECREPIT BIRTH. He is from a younger age and different though process, but very much influenced from the classic drummers like Neil Peart. He is breathing new life into DRAGONLORD. I have been writing for the past 6 years, and I feel the time is now right for the new album. I need an outlet and now with the drumming done and the guitars done I'll probably end up completing the record sometime in December.

OBITUARY Completes Writing New Album

OBITUARY Completes Writing New Album

Florida death metallers OBITUARY have completed the songwriting process for their next album, tentatively due in early 2014. The band states; "We will take our time, trim the fat and focus on making these bass boys as bad-ass as possible. We can't be more excited how they are turning out and are so ready to start recording them! You guys will be so proud of us when you hear it. The old Florida rednecks pulled one out of the bag and created a sick record! Fast, slow, mid-tempo groove, gut-wrenching and heavy as all get out!! Can't wait for you to hear it!"

OBITUARY kicked off a short East Coast tour in early October with a pair of back-to-back shows at Saint Vitus Bar before flattening nine more venues through October 20.

Having been holed up in their own Redneck Studios the last few months penning the follow-up to 2009's punishing "Darkest Day" full-length (2009), OBITUARY's recent shows served as a temporary writing break. The as-yet-untitled full-length will be recorded with the Kickstarter funding help of their legion of dedicated fans around the globe. The campaign was rooted in an honest desire to produce the next record on the band's own terms. "We've been creating death metal since 1984," the band commented. "It's who we are...it's in our blood.

"If there's one thing that we've learned touring all these years, it's that OBITUARY fans are among the most loyal and supportive motherfuckers in the world!

"We've been trying to find better ways to engage with and give back to our fans.

"Over the past couple of years, we've streamed concerts live from around the globe, given away tons of merch packages and dozens of all-access backstage passes. It's inspiring to see and share in your excitement about OBITUARY, and the inspiration that provides keeps us going. This is about putting our trust, our music, our career, and our new album in fans' hands! We want to make music for the people who still come out to shows, still sport our gear, and still have a 'Slowly We Rot' cassette in their car."
