SOULFLY's MAX CAVALERA Doesn't Have A Retirement Plan: 'I Want To Play Forever'

SOULFLY's MAX CAVALERA Doesn't Have A Retirement Plan: 'I Want To Play Forever'

Impact metal channel conducted an interview with SOULFLY frontman Max Cavalera prior to the band's July 12 appearance at the Rockmaraton festival in Dunaújváros, Hungary. You can watch the entire chat below. A few excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On reflecting on SOULFLY's career since the band's 1997 formation:

Max: "I think it's cool. There's a lot of music. I don't have any regrets, really. I think it's really exciting to have so much material. There's a lot of records in that time. 'Ritual' was our 11th album. I've been with some of these guys in SOULFLY more than any other band. Like Marc Rizzo [guitar] has been with me since 2004. Now I have my son [Zyon] playing [on drums], which is a dream come true for me. I really like this SOULFLY with Mike [Leon, bass], Marc and Zyon. We have really good chemistry between us. I think it's cool I set out to be something a little bit different from SEPULTURA, and it turned out to be a little bit different. I still have the stuff I do with Igor [Cavalera, former SEPULTURA drummer and Max's brother] when we go back to the old records like we did with 'Roots'. We're doing 'Beneath The Remains' in November, I think, here in Europe, and 'Arise'. It's a lot of fun. So I get to do both. I still play those old records that I love, and I have SOULFLY's whole catalog, like the setlist, I can really change from day to day. We never really repeat the same setlist. I'm proud of the work. I'm proud that SOULFLY stood our ground and rode the wave."

On the greatest lesson he's learned as a musician:

Max: "I think the best is 'No Hope = No Fear'. It's kind of like a song that means a lot to me because it's where I was at that time when I wrote it. It's a really strange feeling to have when you don't have any hope, it's like you don't have any fear. You just do whatever you want. I think a little bit of that. I don't get caught up too much on the 'technical' side. I like more of the more loose attitude, more about the energy and the spirit than try to be too technical. I don't care much for that. And have fun, because if you're doing this and you're not enjoying it, stop doing it. You have to enjoy what you're doing."

On who is on his "bucket list" to work with:

Max: "All the classic singers to me, all the classical gods are still alive: Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Halford [JUDAS PRIEST], Bruce Dickinson [IRON MAIDEN]. That right there, it's the three I'd really like to do something with. But we'll see. I'm very happy with the collaborations I've done so far. The last record we had Randy [Blythe] from LAMB OF GOD and Ross [Dolan] from IMMOLATION. That was really cool. So, yeah, we'll see what happens. Those three would be really cool to do something with. From the era I grew up with, the SEPULTURA [era], Tom Warrior from CELTIC FROST, TRIPTYKON, I would like to do something with him. I also like ABBATH. I don't know. We'll see. It's cool. We'll see what happens. I love collaborations. Eventually, something always comes up."

On the eventual void that will be left when metal's classic bands retire or its members pass away:

Max: "I think it's life. It's a part of life. It's just how it is. The whole SLAYER [retirement] thing. I don't understand how they do it. I want to play forever. I don't have a retirement plan. I don't know what to do if I'm not playing music. If I'm not playing, creating, I go nuts, literally, I go insane. But, that's them. They're doing it. Good for them. I'm happy. They're a really great band, influenced a lot of people. They created a lot of great music. That's how they want to go out. But there's always going to be newer bands coming up. There's a whole gang of new bands. I like a lot of the heavier stuff in America right now like GENOCIDE PACT, GATECREEPER. There's good music all the time. It'd be a change of the guard. I'm happy that we still have IRON MAIDEN; we still have JUDAS PRIEST; we still have SAXON. Some of those bands are still holding up. To me, that's cool. That's exciting."

"Ritual" was released last October via Nuclear Blast.

SOULFLY's 22-date trek U.S. tour will kick off on September 3 in Dallas, Texas and make stops in Baltimore, Houston and Albuquerque before concluding in Los Angeles on September 29. Support on the tour will come from UNEARTH (September 3 - September 16), INCITE, PRISON and ARRIVAL OF AUTUMN.

SEBASTIAN BACH To Reunite With Original SKID ROW Drummer ROB AFFUSO For 'A Few Shows'

SEBASTIAN BACH To Reunite With Original SKID ROW Drummer ROB AFFUSO For 'A Few Shows'

Sebastian Bach, who just kicked off a tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of SKID ROW's self-titled debut album, says that drummer Rob Affuso will join him for a few shows on the trek.

Asked in a new interview with PopCulture.com if there is any chance of a other members of SKID ROW's classic lineup taking part in the anniversary tour, Bach said: "Well, the drummer will be joining us for a few shows, Rob Affuso. He's kind of like the lukewarm water of SKID ROW, like Derek Smalls of SPINAL TAP. He gets along with them and me. So that's why he's doing it.

"We almost did reunite last year," Bach continued. "It didn't happen for business reasons, I would say. But we're all alive — that's all I can say. And it would be fun. Everybody would love that. They would love that."

Pressed about whether it's "nostalgic" for him to be playing SKID ROW's debut album in its entirety, Bach said: "Well, it certainly is, because it was 30 years ago. I don't have any problems with that. We do a lot of these songs in our set anyways, but there are three or four that we never, ever, ever do. And I guess the fans like the novelty of, like, when they put a CD in their car, or when they listen to it on their phone, the album, they like to have that happen live in their face. But it's a new thing for me to do an album in its entirety. And there are songs on here that I wouldn't do — like, I'm not gonna do these next tour. Well, I don't know about that. 'Cause I don't do things just for money, but if the money's right, I might think about it. [Laughs]"

Asked if it feels different for him to play the early SKID ROW songs without the other members of the band's classic lineup, Sebastian said: "Not for me, it's not. The only thing I would say that is different is that SKID ROW was a two-guitar band. In my band, it's one guitar. Sometimes it's too loud for me. I'm just being honest. If it's too loud for me, I can't really sing as good as I can. It's gotta be at a controlled volume."

In June, Bach issued an "open invitation" to the other members of SKID ROW's classic lineup to "get onstage and jam" during the vocalist's current tour. A few days later, during an interview with Finland's Kaaos TV, guitarist Dave "Snake" Sabo confirmed that he would not accept Bach's latest overture. "I'm working with my band," he said. "This is SKID ROW, and this is what I do."

Asked by Rolling Stone if he thinks his former bandmates are offended that he put his invitation out there publicly, Bach said: "No. I think it's an ego thing. They don't like when I get attention, and they don't get attention. It's always been like that. I can already see them getting mad, because I'm selling out shows, and they're not part of the show, and blah, blah, blah."

Bach parted ways with SKID ROW in 1996. Three years later, the group resurfaced with vocalist Johnny Solinger, who fronted the band until 2015. After an eight-month stint with former TNT vocalist Tony Harnell — who Bolan said last year was a "really bad match" that "just didn't fit" — SKID ROW recruited former DRAGONFORCE vocalist ZP Theart, who has toured with the group for the past three and a half years.

BraveWords Preview: HAMMERFALL Frontman JOACIM CANS Looks Back On 2017 Co-Headlining Tour With DELAIN - "By Far The Most Fun I've Had On A Tour In My 22 Year Career"

BraveWords Preview: HAMMERFALL Frontman JOACIM CANS Looks Back On 2017 Co-Headlining Tour With DELAIN - "By Far The Most Fun I've Had On A Tour In My 22 Year Career"

BraveWords scribe Carl Begai recently caught up with HammerFall frontman Joacim Cans to discuss the band's new album, Dominion. Following is an excerpt from the interview, with Cans opening up about the events that pushed the songwriting for the new record.

Cans: "After we released Infected (in 2011), HammerFall was in a bad place. We didn't have fun on tour - personally, I didn't have fun at all - so we decided to take a break. We needed to take a break, and that break was the game changer. It gave us a new spark, a new fire to do this for everyone in the band. When we did Built To Last (2016) we finally had the chance to go back to North America; we had given up on your continent way back because it just didn't work for us. It was hard go there for six weeks and then come home with $200 in the pocket. But, we found people that truly believed in us and sent us over to co-headline with Delain, and because we had a couple good tours (earnings) going on in Europe we figured we had nothing to lose. We decided to give it one last try touring North America, and that tour was by far the most fun I've had on a tour in my 22 year career. We didn't play arenas but it was great; good set-up, good following, and we got closer as a band. That created a momentum, and we took that with us into the next tour cycles. And it resulted in us thinking outside the box when it came to writing new music."

Watch for the complete story, coming soon.

Hammerfall has only just released their eleventh studio album, and second with Napalm Records, Dominion, and they’re already breaking the charts worldwide.

Hammerfall prove once more that they are one of the biggest heavy metal bands today. Dominion is currently ranked #2 on the Swedish and Swiss charts, #4 on the German and #11 on the Austrian charts. In the United Kingdom, the album is currently ranked #4 on the Rock Album charts, #8 on the Current Hard Music Album Charts in the United States, as well as #9 on the Canadian Top Hard Rock Music Album Charts. In Finland, they are currently placed #5 on Physical Album Charts. See the placements below.

Singer Joacim Cans on the chart entries: “We are so proud and happy with the current chart success of Dominion and want to thank all our fans for the great support. This makes us even more eager to start touring to be able to play some of these songs live.“

Having released their album on the day they played at Summer Breeze Open Air 2019, Hammerfall arranged a huge release party for their fans - cake included! The event was a total success and everyone involved, including Hammerfall themselves, was utterly elated. Take a look at how the Swedes celebrated their album release:

SABATON Involved In 'Serious Traffic Incident': 'We Are All Broken, Badly Beaten, Bleeding And Stitched Up'

SABATON Involved In 'Serious Traffic Incident': 'We Are All Broken, Badly Beaten, Bleeding And Stitched Up'

Swedish metallers SABATON have been forced to cancel their concert in Gdansk, Poland today (Saturday, September 1) as a result of injuries sustained in a "serious traffic incident" earlier in the week.

The band announced the cancelation in a post on its web site. The five-piece wrote: "Two days ago in Tunisia we were involved in a serious traffic incident upon our return from a video shoot in the Sahara desert.

"We are all broken, badly beaten, bleeding and stitched up, but happy to be alive and confident that we will be fully recovered over time.

"However, after consulting medical expertise and evaluating all our injuries we are sure that we cannot do the scheduled concert in Poland today without risk of consequential injuries.

"We will be back with full force in October for the North American tour and will return to Gdansk as soon as possible.

"Until then we would like to share a few of our private images from the filming in Sahara and the accident.

"Thanks for understanding."

You can see more of the photos at this location.

SABATON's ninth full-length album, "The Great War", came out on July 19 via Nuclear Blast Records. The band's 20th-anniversary record is a concept effort covering stories from the First World War.

SABATON started recording "The Great War" exactly 100 years after the end of the First World War (November 11, 1918) and took three months of intensive work to complete the album with longtime producer and collaborator Jonas Kjellgren at Black Lounge studios. The disc was mastered by Maor Appelbaum and the artwork was once again created by Peter Sallaí.

SABATON will join forces with HAMMERFALL for a North American tour this fall. The headline excursion will begin in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on October 4 and end in Silver Spring, Maryland on November 3.

I will miss my good friends in Tarja and wish them all well on their upcoming tour. I’m sure I’ll be standing on stage with them again one day. GREEN CARNATION Recording New Album For The First Time In 14 Years; Details Revealed

GREEN CARNATION Recording New Album For The First Time In 14 Years; Details Revealed

Norwegian prog masters Green Carnation will return to the studio this month to record what is going to be the band’s first new album in 14 years. It is due to be released in 2020.

During September 2019, the band will be recording what they describe as “a tribute to Green Carnation’s past, present and future” consisting of three brand new songs, one remake of a song from their debut album, and one cover song. The sessions also mark a reunion with Endre Kirkesola (Abbath, In Vain, Solefald), the producer of the band’s legendary Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness, in DUB Studios in Kristiansand, Norway.

Singer Kjetil Nordhus says: “We are very happy to be able to announce this now. The band has made some big plans, yet to be revealed, and this release is the first part of that. First we thought we were going to record an EP, but we have been in creative mood, so it is going to be a proper full length album, with almost 50 minutes of music, and five songs".

Founding member and Green Carnation guitaist Tchort says: “Endre knows the band better than anyone. He was also playing keys with us in our Light of Day, Day of Darkness comeback in 2016, so we have every reason to believe that this will be a great match, both for ourselves, and for the listeners".

The band is discussing with labels, managements and booking agents for future cooperation, but is currently self-managed.

For information and updates check out the band's official Facebook page here.

CYHRA Vocalist JAKE E Posts One-Take Vocal Cover Of SIX:A.M.'s "Skin" (Video)

CYHRA Vocalist JAKE E Posts One-Take Vocal Cover Of SIX:A.M.'s "Skin" (Video)

The clip below features CyHra frontman Jake E doing a one take vocal cover of Sixx:AM's "Skin":

Jake previously posted a one take vocal cover of the 30 Seconds To Mars hit "Closer To The Edge":

HOUR OF PENANCE Post Misotheism Album Trailer

HOUR OF PENANCE Post Misotheism Album Trailer

Italy's technical, blackened death metal outfit Hour Of Penance have posted a trailer for its upcoming studio album titled Misotheism, set for an October 25th release on Agonia Records.Pre-orders here.

Hour Of Penance will embark on a headlining tour of UK alongside Demim and Cryptic Shift in December. Following the tour's completion, the band will perform at Eindhoven Metal Meeting in the Netherlands. More dates will be announced soon.

Set in motion in Rome, in 1999, Hour Of Penance travelled a long way to find itself standing strong as one of the most intense, talented and striking death metal acts to emerge from Italy. At the same time, their eighth instalment, Misotheism, cloaks the same verve and mindful perfection, that led to the band's uprising in the first place.

"Like we did with our past records, we’ve started working on this one with the same passion and focus as if we were about to record our very first album", says the group. "We’ve never took anything for granted, not only by keeping in mind the standards our fans are expecting, but also pushing ourselves to try perfecting our sound".

Their excitement for death metal didn't wash out their careful attitude towards tying up all loose ends, either: "We never thought that we would have come this far with our career, and while we didn’t feel any pressure writing this record, we definitely put some extra care this time. In fact, the album was recorded in three different studios and handled by three different sound engineers."

What we receive in the end is far better than what some may have been craving for: Misotheism is a pitch-black and delightfully brutal death metal soundtrack to a collapsing universe. "It pushed Hour Of Penance to a new level of creativity. We’re confident that you will enjoy the new album as much as we do", adds the band.

Misotheism was worked on in three different locations. Drums were tracked at Bloom Recording Studio (Italy), where the band "took advantage of the huge recording rooms and endless choice of microphones". On the other end, we have the Kick Recording Studio (Italy), where guitars, bass and vocals were recorded with Marco Mastrobuono, who also worked on Regicide (2014) and the last album, Cast The First Stone (2017). Finally, the band drove all the way to Poland, where the album was mixed and mastered at Hertz Studios (Behemoth, Vader, Decapitated).

As the band reports: "Working with the Wiesławscy brothers was like putting the icing on the cake and thanks to their mastery we managed to achieve the perfect sound without making any compromises."

The cover for the album was handled by a Hungarian artist, Gyula Havancsàk (Accept, Annihilator, Destruction, Ensiferum). "He perfectly captured the overall feel of the album", comments the band.

BLAZE BAYLEY: Multi-Camera Video Of Westland, Michigan Concert

BLAZE BAYLEY: Multi-Camera Video Of Westland, Michigan Concert

Multi-camera video footage of former IRON MAIDEN singer Blaze Bayley performing on May 9 at the Token Lounge in Westland, Michigan can be seen below (clips edited and produced by George S Pogacich).

The third album in Bayley's "Infinite Entanglement" trilogy was released in March 2018. "The Redempton Of William Black" was third part of the trilogy, bringing the sci-fi concept to a conclusion.

"The Redempton Of William Black" was the tenth album of Blaze's solo career, following his rise to global fame as singer with IRON MAIDEN (1994-1999). He was chosen for the MAIDEN role after coming to notice with his first band WOLFSBANE, based around home city of Birmingham, England, which is now the location for the recording of all his more recent solo releases.

"The Redemption Of William Black" was co-written with Chris Appleton of fellow British metal band ABSOLVA. Chris, who also co-produced the album and is lead guitarist and backing vocalist in Blaze's band for recording and touring, together with his ABSOLVA bandmates Martin McNee (drums) and Karl Schramm (bass and backing vocals).

Special guests on the album include FOZZY singer Chris Jericho, also of WWE fame, for whom Blaze specially created a character within the "Infinite Entanglement" story. Also, on choir duty is Luke Appleton (ICED EARTH bassist and ABSOLVA rhythm guitarist), as well as Michelle Sciarrotta (choir/voice actor), Jo Robinson (choir), Mel Adams (choir), Liz Owen (backing vocals/choir), Aine Brewer (voice actor) and Rob Toogood (choir/voice actor).

Watch SLIPKNOT Perform In Mansfield

Fan-filmed video footage of SLIPKNOT's August 27 concert at Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts can be seen below.

SLIPKNOT is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, "We Are Not Your Kind", which sold 118,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week of release to land at position No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Of that sum, 102,000 were in album sales.

"We Are Not Your Kind"'s sales were boosted by a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer with SLIPKNOT's U.S. tour, which kicked off late last month.

The LP is SLIPKNOT's fifth top 10 effort on the Billboard 200. The Iowa-bases masked metallers previously landed in the top 10 with 2014's ".5: The Gray Chapter" (No. 1), 2008's "All Hope Is Gone" (No. 1), 2004's "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)" (No. 2) and 2001's "Iowa" (No. 3).

"We Are Not Your Kind" was once again recorded at a Los Angeles studio with producer Greg Fidelman, who engineered and mixed "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)" and helmed ".5: The Gray Chapter".

NECROFIER Featuring OCEANS OF SLUMBER Members Release “Raise The Dead” Video

NECROFIER Featuring OCEANS OF SLUMBER Members Release “Raise The Dead” Video

Houston's Necrofier plays heavy melodic black metal that references the past (read: Dissection, Darkthrone) while forging the future. The hungry quartet released its debut EP, Visions In Fire, last December and now drop a dark video for the song "Raise The Dead" from the triple track effort.

Comprised of key musicians from Houston's thriving underground music scene, Necrofier features drummer Dobber Beverly (Oceans Of Slumber, Insect Warfare), guitarist / vocalist Bakka Larson (Venomous Maximus), guitarist Josh Bokemeyer (Church Of Disgust) and bassist Mat Aleman (Oceans Of Slumber). In its short time as a group, Necrofier has released the Visions In Fire EP, toured with both Goatwhore and Uada, showcased at SXSW, headlined a 300 capacity hometown show (read more here) and been named as one of the featured acts at the 2020 Maryland Deathfest, set for May 21st-24th, 2020 in Baltimore, MD.

"With Necrofier, we are making a statement that it’s not just the Northwest or the Northeast that can turn out quality black metal in the States,” Beverly says. “Texas is fully able to compete with anybody as far as black metal goes. We’re all from a background of metal that was meant to be serious and different.”

TERMINUS Signs With Cruz Del Sur Music; A Single Point Of Light Album Due In November

TERMINUS Signs With Cruz Del Sur Music; A Single Point Of Light Album Due In November

Irish epic metallers Terminus have signed with Cruz Del Sur Music for the release of their second studio album, A Single Point Of Light. Recorded at the home studio of instrumentalist David Gillespie and mixed and mastered by Richard Whittaker (Solstice), the album will see the light of day this November. The artwork was created by Anaïs Mulgrew.

The Terminus/Cruz Del Sur relationship stretches back to 2013 when both parties were tossing around the idea of releasing the band’s The Reaper’s Spiral debut. While the idea didn’t come to fruition then, there is no better time than the present — Gillespie says Cruz Del Sur is a “natural fit” for Terminus since their friends in Ravensire, Argus, Atlantean Kodex, Lethean, Gatekeeper and Lunar Shadow already call the label home.

Terminus ceased to be a live entity in late 2017 after triumphant appearances at Keep It True, Up The Hammers, Pyrennean Warriors Open Air and Ultimate Revenge in Helsinki, enabling the band (now a two-piece featuring vocalist James Beattie and Gillespie on instruments) enough time to focus on new material. According to Gillespie, the goal with A Single Point Of Light was to “evolve enough so that a second album was not a redundant exercise while still remaining true to our core sound.”

“As the principal songwriter, it was self-imposed pressure to prove — to myself — that I wasn’t a one-off and that I could write another record of equal or superior quality,” he continues. “Hence, we did not simply poop out an album in 18 months, but took our time.”

Like its predecessor, A Single Point Of Light is a deep dive into the realms of epic and progressive metal, with bountiful guitar harmonies, complex song arrangements and the controlled, but emotive delivery of Beattie. It results in an album that is a comfortable step forward for Terminus while not reneging on the core tenets that initially brought the band together in 2012.

“The obvious thing is that we haven’t turned into a Sisters Of Mercy tribute band or anything silly like that,” says Gillespie. “The new album is in the same vein and we have retained our ethos — which seems to have become strikingly popular of late — that the album should fit on one side of a 90-minute tape and should split evenly and sympathetically across both sides of a 12-inch LP. Some elements of the sound have been dropped, some have been focused on and there are a few new textures in there to keep things fresh.”

A Single Point Of Light again finds Terminus exploring lyrical themes off the traditional heavy metal path. Instead, the band continues their approach of interpreting classic science-fiction tales alongside stories of their own telling.

“We have always been antithetical to the rest of the subgenre, lyrically,” wraps Gillespie. “Our songs are not about heroes and their deeds. They’re about cowards, deviants, deceivers — the scum of the universe, really. There are no heroics and no victories to be found in our world.”

Tracklisting:

“To Ash, To Dust”
“Harvest”
“As Through A Child’s Eyes”
“Flesh Falls From Steel”
“Mhira, Tell Me The Nature Of Your Existence”
“Cry Havoc”
“Spinning Webs, Catching Dreams”

MEGADETH's Death By Design Graphic Novel Available Now; New "Making Of" Video Released

MEGADETH's Death By Design Graphic Novel Available Now; New "Making Of" Video Released

Megadeth's new graphic novel, Death By Design, is available now. In this new video, Dave Mustaine talks "Set The World Afire" with an inside look at the making of Death By Design.

Death By Design features stories written and illustrated by top talent from comics, film, television and music. The project, carefully curated by Dave Mustaine and Heavy Metal, is a powerful book that gives both insight and understanding into the universe of Megadeth and its harrowed mascot, Vic Rattlehead.

Megadeth, working in close collaboration with Heavy Metal, has collected an  unprecedented pool of talent for Megadeth: Death By Design - making it any comic book or Megadeth fan’s dream.  Brendan Small (creator of Metalocalypse) teams with Belen Ortega (Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) for Hangar 18.  Dan Fogler (Fantastic Beasts And Where To find Them) writes an apocalyptic tale insanely drawn by Andy Belanger (Southern Cross) for Rattlehead. An A-list talent pool rounds out the roster featuring Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash), Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night), Brian Wood (DMZ), Justin Jordan & John Bivens (Spread), Leah Moore & John Reppion (Judge Dredd), Joe Keatingue (Popgun), Christine Larsen (Holy Diver), Frazier Irving (Annihilator) and more than 50 other talented creators.

Says Dave Mustaine: “I have always fantasized about Megadeth doing something this gloriously electrifying and gruesome. I hope everyone will enjoy the graphic novel as much as I enjoyed working with Heavy Metal to put it together for you.”

Jeff Krelitz, CEO of Heavy Metal said: “Since I was old enough to buy records, Megadeth has been one of my favorite bands, not only for the great storytelling in the music, but the world building imagery on the album covers. This opportunity to meld the two world together and tell stories inspired by their songs is a privilege that we are excited to present to the fans.”

The Megadeth: Death By Design 350-page graphic novel is presented in a 12.25”x12.25” prestige “album” format and comes in 4 different collector’s editions:

QUEEN + BÉJART: Ballet For Life - FREDDIE MERCURY Interview Clip Streaming

QUEEN + BÉJART: Ballet For Life - FREDDIE MERCURY Interview Clip Streaming

On September 6, Eagle Vision will release Queen + Béjart: Ballet For Life, which documents Queen’s music as the inspiration for a unique ballet that has endured for over twenty years, on DVD, Blu-ray & digital video.

The DVD and Blu-ray will also be available as deluxe editions, packaged in a 36-page hardback photo book featuring photos from the Ballet For Life. Pre-order here, and watch an interview with late Queen singer Freddie Mercury, below:

Ballet For Life was a unique collaboration between three cultural brands: Queen, Versace and the late visionary choreographer Maurice Béjart, celebrating the life and talents of legendary performers, Freddie Mercury and Maurice Béjart’s former principal dancer, Jorge Donn, both of whom died of AIDS. It was first performed in the Théâtre de Chaillot in January 1997 in the presence of Madame Chirac, Elton John and the three surviving members of Queen, John Deacon, Brian May and Roger Taylor.

Queen + Béjart: Ballet For Life features two programs: the documentary by Lynne Wake and Simon Lupton, and a full 1997 performance of the ballet by the Béjart Ballet Lausanne. The documentary, edited by Emmy Award winner Christopher Bird, tells the story of the creation and success of the ballet featuring the great and the good of both rock and dance, including: Brian May, Roger Taylor, Gil Roman, Wayne Sleep and Arlene Phillips. The performance includes incredible archive footage of Freddie Mercury, Maurice Béjart, Queen and Gianni Versace, as well as featuring Versace’s stunning costume designs. The production continues to tour widely, but is captured here performing at Théâtre Métropole, Lausanne in June 1997.

The Ballet For Life film is directed by Maurice Béjart and David Mallet, known specifically for directing live performance concerts of such megastars as Tina Turner, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, and numerous Queen videos including “Bicycle Race”, “Radio Ga Ga”, “I Want to Break Free”, and Freddie’s classic “The Great Pretender” video.

Maurice Béjart’s long-standing friend Gianni Versace was tragically killed in Miami shortly after the filming in Lausanne. Sadly, this departure into the world of ballet for Versace proved to be one of his last.

The production marks the ultimate fusion of Queen’s sweeping emotional melodies, both live and studio tracks, and the timeless ethereal grace and movement of ballet. It is the first and only time a full-length ballet has been paired to rock music, albeit alongside some traditional pieces from Mozart. The theme of the choreography is about the cycle of life and life triumphing over death, which perfectly reflects the mood of the songs. Dancers fuse classical and modern ballet seamlessly to songs including, "It’s a Beautiful Day", "I Was Born to Love You," and "Radio Ga Ga", closing with the spectacular "The Show Must Go On". This release also includes a substantial segment of John Deacon’s final performance with Queen, taken from the Queen + Béjart Ballet For Life premiere performance with Elton John in Paris.

Béjart explained that with Ballet For Life he wanted to bring Freddie Mercury back to life, in doing so he created a delight for both Queen and ballet fans alike. Breaking with tradition, the packed audience applaud throughout the show. This is ballet as you’ve never seen it before, with the wild-eyed euphoria of a rock concert.

Appropriately, Queen + Béjart: Ballet For Life will be released the day after the annual Freddie For A Day events, marking the birthday of the late, great Freddie Mercury.

100% of royalties payable by Eagle Rock Entertainment to Tonleigh Ltd will be donated to The Mercury Phoenix Trust fighting AIDS worldwide.

GHOST's TOBIAS FORGE Weighs In On METALLICA Ticket Scam: 'There's Very Little' That Artists Can Do About It

GHOST's TOBIAS FORGE Weighs In On METALLICA Ticket Scam: 'There's Very Little' That Artists Can Do About It

GHOST leader Tobias Forge has commented on the recent controversy surrounding METALLICA after it was revealed that representatives for the iconic heavy metal band allegedly partnered with concert promoter Live Nation to sell portions of their tickets directly to resellers, denying fans the chance to buy tickets first at face value.

Last month, Billboard obtained a recording of an 11-minute phone call from 2017 between Live Nation's U.S. president of concerts, Bob Roux, longtime METALLICA associate Tony DiCioccio and independent promoter Vaughn Millette.

During the call, which took place prior to METALLICA's massively successful "WorldWired" tour, DiCioccio allegedly asked Roux to set aside tickets for resellers. The parties allegedly made a deal with METALLICA and Live Nation each receiving 40% of resale revenue with the remaining 20% going to DiCioccio and Millette.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, the deal reportedly set aside 4,400 tickets per show, totaling 88,000 tickets. METALLICA allegedly partnered with Live Nation again in 2018 to sell tickets directly through resale markets, although representatives for the band told Billboard that the members weren't aware of the deal.

Asked whether there is "any way thousands of tickets to a GHOST show could go directly to a reseller" without him ever knowing anything about it, Forge — whose band has served as the support act for the entire summer 2019 European leg of the "WorldWired" tour — said (hear audio below): "Probably. I have no idea. I've understood that the world of ticketing is a science, and that's a science practiced by many peddlers outside of our reach, which is a problem. It's a problem, because it tempers with the relationship between the artist and the fans, because, unfortunately, it can affect a fan very negatively. But also the thought and the impression from the fans thinking that it's the work of the artist. And as far as I know, I've never known of an artist that did so intentionally. It's usually some other service that did it.

"Over the years of online sales, there have been many, many controversies of this sort," he continued. "And I'm also speaking as a citizen of Sweden, and I'm assuming that we have these issues in every country, but just in Sweden, there was, like, a lot of alternative sort of web sites. Before the official tickets were restricted down to three or four or two or five per purchase, you had these pages that bought thousands of tickets. I remember, like, 10, 15, 20 years ago, it was insane — you could go to a show that was sold out and still, there was, like, 70 percent there. It's, like, that doesn't add up.

"I find it sad to hear when that happens," Forge added. "I'm not commenting on what they [METALLICA] are [dealing with], because I don't know anything about that situation. But I know that there's a lot of things going on and a lot of… As with anything in society now, there's always shysters that try to come up with ways to put themselves and their business between, let's say, the producer and the client. Same thing with Uber and all these kinds of apps that just put themselves in between what usually has been a normal trade affair. But it seems like there's very little that you can do about it. Especially if you're one of the parts. There's nothing, as an artist — especially on my level — there's nothing that I can do to change that business."

Forge founded GHOST more than a decade ago and has written almost all of the group's music, while also performing for years in costume as first Papa Emeritus and now Cardinal Copia. His real name was a mystery for much of that time and still does not appear on GHOST LPs.

GHOST's latest album, "Prequelle", debuted in June 2018 at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart. The band will embark on a North American tour this fall in support of the disc, starting on September 13 in Bakersfield, California and wrapping on October 26 in Glens Falls, New York.

Watch LITA FORD Perform In Quakertown, Pennsylvania

Watch LITA FORD Perform In Quakertown, Pennsylvania

Fan-filmed video footage of Lita Ford's August 28 performance at Univest Performance Center in Quakertown, Pennsylvania can be seen below.

Earlier this year, Lita told The Metal Voice that she was putting the finishing touches on the follow-up to 2012's "Living Like A Runaway" album. Helming the new project once again is guitarist/producer Gary Hoey, who contributes some guitar playing to the disc, alongside the rest of Ford's backing band, which continues to consist of guitarist Patrick Kennison, drummer Bobby Rock and bassist Marty O'Brien.

"It's a concept album," Lita said. "We have to keep the songs consistent so they all work together."

Although Ford declined to reveal the specifics of the concept, she confirmed that the LP will include a song called "Monsters", which was inspired by infamous cult leaders like Charles Manson and David Koresh. "It's just really dark and nasty stuff — brainwashing people and all the stuff [Koresh] did, and got all those people to drink Kool-Aid. But then again, it could be someone like your attorney, or it could be someone like your mom who is the monster in your life. It could be your manager. You never know who the monster in your life is gonna turn out to be."

Describing the music on her new disc as "dark and riffy," Lita said that she is "very excited about it." She added: "It's got a cool feel. It's all done and written and exciting. It'll be out really soon — really soon. We just have to put pen to paper to a new record deal, and then we can tell [everybody more about it]."

Last year, Ford told KBACK Radio that she "was going through a real hard time in my life" during the making of "Living Like A Runaway", "and music was my outlet. I dumped everything into my music, because I didn't wanna start drinking or doing drugs or hurting myself in any other way, so I just rocked out — I put everything into my music, and it really shows in the songs and the lyrics of that album," she said. "They are true — it's a true story, that entire album. But the next album that we're doing is something that I've had in the can for quite a while and it's resurfaced in my life and I'm carrying on with it and I'm making it come to life, and it's really awesome. I don't wanna give it away yet, but I think people are going to be happy with it. It's very riffy, very memorable choruses — stuff that sticks in your head with the riffs and the choruses, the melodies. A real cocky attitude. I love it. I'm very happy with it."

Ford's last release was 2016's "Time Capsule", a collection of songs that were recorded by Lita in the past, but never before made available.

Three years ago, Lita released an autobiography, "Living Like A Runaway: A Memoir", via Dey Street Books (formerly It Books), an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.

Listen To New IGGY POP Song 'Sonali'

Listen To New IGGY POP Song 'Sonali'

"Sonali", a new song from Iggy Pop, can be streamed below. The track is taken from his upcoming album "Free", which is due out September 6 on Loma Vista Recordings.

"Sonali" is the third song to be released in advance of the new album, and has been hailed "infectious" by Paste and by Consequence Of Sound as "a stylistic shift… magnetic."

While "Free" follows the highest charting album of Iggy's career, 2016's Grammy-nominated "Post Pop Depression", it has virtually nothing in common sonically with its predecessor — or with any other Iggy Pop album. As The New York Times remarked upon hearing the title track: "Iggy Pop's 'Free' is brief, atmospheric and elusive. Amid sustained electronic tones from the guitarist Noveller and ghostly overdubbed Miles Davis-tinged trumpet lines from Leron Thomas, Pop's voice appears only a few times, intoning, 'I wanna be free.' As the title song and opening track of an album due in September, it could lead anywhere."

"Free" track listing:

01. Free

02. Loves Missing

03. Sonali

04. James Bond

05. Dirty Sanchez

06. Glow In The Dark

07. Page

08. We Are The People

09. Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night

10. The Dawn

Betraying The Martyrs are giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at their tour of Asia earlier this year via a new mini documentary.

"Touring in Asia has been at the top of the band's bucket list since we've been a band," says vocalist Aaron Matts. "Travelling to a world so different to the one in which we were raised is an incredibly humbling experience, especially when it's to play your songs to those who want to hear them."

The three-week tour kicked off in Thailand and stopped in Singapore, China, Taiwan before wrapping up in Japan. After returning home, the band handed over the raw footage gathered on the trip to longtime friend Malik Doll, who began assembling the documentary.

"Malik was able to put together a visual presentation that really does justice to the experience that we were lucky enough to live," Matts adds. "This short film is something that we're very proud of, and it gives us great pleasure to be able to share these moments with you all."

VITRIOL Share "I Drown Nightly" Music Video

VITRIOL Share "I Drown Nightly" Music Video

Portland death metal band, Vitriol, have premiered a music video for "I Drown Nightly", a track from  the band’s debut full-length album, To Bathe From The Throat Of Cowardice, out on September 6 via Century Media Records. The video, directed by Brendan McGowan, can be found below.

Fronted by the dual vocal assault given from guitarist Kyle Rasmussen and bassist Adam Roethlisberger, driven by the inhuman drummer Scott Walker, Vitriol proved to make a successful strike at the genre's heart with their 2017 EP, Pain Will Define Their Death. Released via Italy's Everlasting Spew, it already provided a shockingly intense glimpse at the whirlwind that is to be unfurled on the much anticipated debut record, To Bathe From The Throat Of Cowardice.

Featuring classy artwork by Joe Petagno (Motörhead, Krisiun, Angelcorpse), the album offers 44 minutes of utmost sincere and vicious music embodying a radicalness and personality rarely heard within the genre.

Rasmussen states: "The spirit of Vitriol is to take the uncompromising, thrashy, punky, spirit of the late 90s extreme death and bring it to a world that has been numbed by records that have abandoned all life in favor of shrink wrapped, candy coated articulation."

Tracklisting:

"The Parting Of A Neck"
"Crowned In Retaliation"
"Legacy Of Contempt"
"I Drown Nightly"
"The Rope Calls You Brother"
"A Gentle Gift"
"Violence, A Worthy Truth"
"Victim"
"Hive Lungs"
"Pain Will Define Their Death"
