MYRATH Streaming New Song “Shehili”Myrath are streaming the new song “Shehili”, the title track of the power prog band's new album, out now via earMusic. Listen below, and get the album here.
Myrath's heritage and willingness to infuse their influences with the historic music of their homeland is what sets them apart. The sounds of Tunisia are that of Arabic and Asian folk music, which can be readily heard in the rhythms, segues, and choruses of Myrath's compositions.
Shehili is innovative, yet loyal to the band's signature sound. It establishes contrasts between uplifting melodies and thoughtful, and, at times, heartbreaking lyrics. The best example of this duality can be found in Shehili's first single "Dance," the video of which was a sequel to "Believer." The "Dance" video tallied more than a million views in the first five weeks of release.
As singer Zaher Zorgati says, "The purpose of our music is to induce happiness and joy, to pay tribute to those who refuse to fall or to stop hoping, even in a world filled with hatred and uncertainty."
Shehili, although produced with extreme care, keeps a very natural and organic flavor. The recordings took place in Hamburg, Germany, Tunisia, and France to make sure every single note found its way into the mix. Shehili was mixed by three different producers, including Kevin Codfert, Eike Freese, and the world-famous Jens Bogren (who already worked on Legacy), in order to give each song the best possible treatment and make it shine.

ADAM DUTKIEWICZ Hopes To Complete New TIMES OF GRACE Album By End Of 2019KILLSWITCH ENGAGE guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz spoke to the "Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall" podcast about the progress of the recording sessions for the new album from TIMES OF GRACE, his collaborative project with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE singer Jesse Leach.
"We are working on it right now," he said. "It's been tough working on it, because we've been pulled between so many things, in between tours, now that the [new KILLSWITCH ENGAGE] record's coming out. But I have been in the midst of working on it for, God, like years now, and it's just finding the time to get it done. I've got about five or six songs pretty much almost finished, but I'm waiting on Jesse, wanting to talk to him more about some vocal parts. I don't feel like singing the whole thing myself, because I think my voice sounds like dick. I wanna make sure I give Jesse a big part of the record. And once again, having him find time to do it as well has been pretty tough. So, we're getting there. I'm hoping by the end of this year it'll be completed. We'll see."
Dutkiewicz recently told Metal Wani that TIMES OF GRACE might release a new EP instead of a full-length album. He also called the project's new music "very different."
TIMES OF GRACE originally entered Signature Sound studio in San Diego, California in late 2017 to begin recording material for its new LP. Sitting behind the drum kit during the sessions was Dan Gluszak, who previously played drums for TIMES OF GRACE on tour and has since been named an official member of the band.
Two years ago, Leach said that TIMES OF GRACE's new material was "shaping up to be a whole different world of sound and words. I will be using different melodic registers and less growl substituted by more 'melodic yelling,'" he said. "The lyrics are primarily quite melancholy so far but most of my lyrics often do begin that way and find light as the process unfolds."
Dutkiewicz previously revealed that he had demoed more than a dozen tracks for the next TIMES OF GRACE album.
TIMES OF GRACE's debut album, "The Hymn Of A Broken Man", was released in January 2011 via Roadrunner Records. The CD sold around 10,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 44 on The Billboard 200 chart.
Leach told Lithium Magazine in 2016 that "the cool thing about TIMES OF GRACE is that it's another outlet for us, and moving forward with that project, it's gonna be even more different from KILLSWITCH. There's gonna be no quote-unquote metalcore sound going on. As a matter of fact, I'm planning on not doing much aggressive vocals at all."
Dutkiewicz and Leach originally worked together on KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's benchmark album, 2002's "Alive Or Just Breathing". That record has become definitive for an entire generation of American metal, with Leach's voice and uplifting lyrics serving as one of the key elements that propelled the album to "modern classic" status. Leach left KILLSWITCH ENGAGE shortly after "Alive Or Just Breathing"'s release but rejoined the group in early 2012 following the departure of his replacement, Howard Jones.

TURBOKILL To Release Debut Album In October; Details RevealedIn an enlightened world, it must be allowed to ask how the musical succession to metal legends like Judas Priest or Iron Maiden is to be realized. Or is the change of guards already under way? Following in the footsteps of the metal giants of our era will by no means be an easy feat. Still, it must be done, and we need suitable candidates with a vision who align themselves with the long history of this music genre while taking their compositions and playing style into the future.
Turbokill, the new formation of former Alpha Tiger vocalist Stephan Dietrich, could be such a candidate in the making. The German band comes with an exceptionally set of skills to drive forward a heavy metal style that is traditional yet modern. Is it too bold a thesis then, to name them as a contender? Hardly, especially since the 12 songs making up the group’s first album Vice World beg to differ. The message comes across loud and clear: The future of the classic heavy metal has already begun.
The debut album, Vice World, will be released on October 25 via SPV/Steamhammer on CD digipak, vinyl LP, download and stream. Pre-order here.
Tracklisting:
"The Grand Delusion"

Arctos is the voice of the mountains, the call of the rising wild. Arctos' savage brand of Northern black metal is brilliantly captured on the band's full-length debut album, Beyond The Grasp Of Mortal Hands, which will be released September 20th on Northern Silence Productions.

ANTHRAX Drummer Wants To 'Make A Statement Musically' With Band's Next AlbumAt last month's Download festival in the United Kingdom, ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante spoke to Jose Mangin of Zippo Encore's "Dudes Talking S#*t In A Truck" about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's follow-up to 2016's "For All Kings" album.
"I was talking to the [other] guys [in ANTHRAX] about it," Charlie said. "I said, 'I don't wanna make another record.' Not that we'd just make another record, but this time I wanna make a statement musically. 'Cause I hear bands coming out with music, and I don't think they're putting much emphasis on longevity anymore. I think [they have the attitude], 'Let's just get this out so we can go on tour.' … I wanna make records so that our fans, six months to a year later, go, 'Wow! I just discovered this on that record.'"
According to Benante, fans can expect to hear some surprises on ANTHRAX's next disc. "There's some extreme stuff on this record that we touched on," he said. "There's different things that we're gonna try and do that's gonna make it next level."
Earlier in the year, Benante told Australia's "Everblack" podcast that ANTHRAX's new music is shaping up to be "a little more in the aggressive style."
"For All Kings" was called by some critics ANTHRAX's strongest album to date. Its arrival followed a five-year period during which the band experienced a rebirth of sorts, beginning with ANTHRAX's inclusion on the 2010 "Big Four" tour with METALLICA, SLAYER and MEGADETH, and continuing with the 2011 release of comeback LP "Worship Music".
The group's upcoming disc will be ANTHRAX's third full-length release since the return of singer Joey Belladonna, who came back into the fold for the "Big Four" shows, in the process helping inspire a new wave of creativity.

TOM HAMILTON Reveals Which AEROSMITH Albums He’s Most Proud OfSpeaking to MusicRadar; Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton talked about which albums from the band’s back catalogue that he’s most proud of.
“Obviously, I’m proud of Toys In The Attic and Rocks,” said Hamilton. “I was able to take my playing up a notch and also kick some ideas into the songwriting department. But I also feel good about my playing and the sound I was able to get on the Pump album. I used my early Music Man for most of that album except for the ballad, ‘What It Takes’, where I used a Hofner.”
Hamilton also talked about if he planned on joining other bands during the early-‘80s, when Aerosmith fragmented. Hamilton said, “It didn’t dawn on me that the band was essentially over. We had a new hot guitar player named Jimmy Crespo who could play his ass off and write, and I thought we would finish the album we were forcing into existence, go on the road and everything would be the same, but it wasn’t. It just kept deteriorating until one day I was watching this new channel called MTV - and realised that we would probably never be part of it.”
Aerosmith pulled out the Permanent Vacation album track, "Angel", during a recent date of their Las Vegas residency, Deuces Are Wild, at the Park Theater at Park MGM. Watch the performance below.
Says the band: "We surprised the crowd with this one at a recent #DeucesAreWild show. What would you like to hear next run?"
Aerosmith previously released the video below, offering a recap of their show on July 4:
The Deuces Are Wild show is presented with live THX certified L-Acoustics’ L-ISA immersive sound in partnership with THX and L-Acoustics. The show, directed by Amy Tinkham, opens with a roughly 30-minute retrospective of the band's career with previously unreleased audio and visuals from Aerosmith's archive. For this segment, Grammy-winning producer Giles Martin, who created the soundscape for The Beatles' Love by Cirque Du Soleil in Las Vegas, took some of the band’s classic music and material from recording sessions and remixed it for immersive sound at London’s Abbey Road Studios.
Remaining dates include:
September 21, 23, 26, 28
October 1, 3, 6, 8

METALLICA Praises JUANES's Cover Of 'Seek & Destroy'METALLICA has praised Juanes's cover version of the band's song "Seek & Destroy".
Earlier this month, the Latin rock star performed the "Kill 'Em All" classic at Rock Al Parque festival in Bogota, Colombia. Video footage of his rendition — complete with pyrotechnic displays — was posted online and it eventually caught the attention of the METALLICA members themselves.
On Monday (July 15), the San Francisco Bay Area heavy metal legends took to Twitter to share a clip of the performance and wrote in an accompanying message: "We're blown away by the reception our friend @juanes received in Bogota for his awesome rendition of Seek!"
Last year, Juanes told The Philadelphia Inquirer about his early musical inspirations: "I came up in Colombia with folk music, singing with my parents and sisters. There were the rhythms of tango and bolero and cumbia. Those were my strongest influences. But when I was 13, I went crazy with rock music and became the biggest fan of METALLICA, SLAYER and SEPULTURA. I still love METALLICA. Today, I listen to many new artists and learn while staying connected to my roots. For instance, I love reeggaton. I hear that stuff from my kids. They teach new music all the time."
In a 2011 interview with The Washington Post, Juanes said that he "got crazy with rock music" when he was 13 years old. "I was a big fan of METALLICA, SLAYER, SEPULTURA, MEGADETH, all those guys. It was part of my life for 10 years, and then I was part of a metal band for a moment and then the band broke up and I moved to Los Angeles and started my career. Even if it doesn't have anything to do with metal music, there is always a little bit of those years in my music, always a little piece of attitude that I try to combine with the folk side." 6

SKILLET Frontman On 'Eden' Graphic Novel: 'This Was A Bucket-List Item For Me'In partnership with Z2 Comics, SKILLET will release its first-ever graphic novel on August 27. "Eden: A Skillet Graphic Novel" is based on an original story idea created by SKILLET frontman John Cooper alongside the creative team of Z2 Comics: Josh Frankel and Sridhar Reddy. Writers Alex Paknadel and Dan Watters of Random Shock Studios wrote the comic with Cooper. Artist Chris Hunt created the cover and worked on the pages of the comic.
Cooper recently spoke about his love for superheroes, how comics were such an influential part of his childhood and thus why the opportunity for SKILLET to help create their own graphic novel is a dream come true.
"I fell in love with super heroes before I could ride a bike," he said. "My best friend and I used to dress up in our underoos (for those who were born after the '80s, underoos were superhero-styled underwear). I would run around the neighborhood in nothing but my underoos and my Batman cape that my mom hand-made for me. Something about being powerful and virtuous — and apparently colorful — made me feel like I could change the world around me.
"It wasn't until I was about 10 years old that I fell in love with comics. Like most things in my childhood, I was influenced by my older brother who would religiously go to the comic shop and buy books. I wanted to be like him, of course. I also should mention the fact that In the mid-'80s, it was not 'cool' to be into comics. If you were a comic nerd, you had to love it enough to pay the price on your social status. I have always believed that if you were proud of who you are then you shouldn't be ashamed of what you love. And with my mom in the hospital battling cancer, I had bigger problems in my life than other people's opinions. I needed an escape. I needed a place to feel powerful. Like the world could be made right again. Where good wins. All the hours reading and drawing comics provided a small measure of hope in my life.
"When I got a call asking if I'd be interested in discussing a possible graphic novel, I jumped at the chance. This was a bucket-list item for me. I wrote a concept and some themes that I would want to say — and we were off to the races. Meeting with writers and artists was nothing short of thrilling for this comic nerd.
"Since that original conversation to what the book has now become, I have fallen in love with the world of 'Eden'. This book has the same DNA as my music. It's exciting and theatrical, with a tinge of the supernatural. But mainly, behind it all, there is a feeling that is hard to put into words — some fans call it hope, or love, or community. I just say that 'Eden', like our music, has a feeling like you've heard this song before, but it was so long ago that you just cannot remember the words. But as it continues to play, you find yourself singing along. And the song you are singing feels like home."
SKILLET's tenth full-length album, "Victorious", will be released on August 2 via Atlantic.
In support of "Victorious", SKILLET will headline a tour this August joined by SEVENDUST with special guests POP EVIL and DEVOUR THE DAY.

MALCOLM YOUNG: The Man Who Made AC/DC Book Now Available; Audio Interview With Author JEFF APTER StreamingJeff Apter, author of the new book, Malcolm Young: The Man Who Made AC/DC, was recently interviewed on the Australian Rock Show Podcast, coinciding with the book’s release this week (audio below).
"My goal was to reveal two things: Malcolm's key role within AC/DC - you know the fact that he really was the driving force of the band and document a lot of those decisions and key decisions and key movements that he made - also just reveal as much I could possibly learn about the man himself and you know, if I get that middle ground between those two - and get it right, like I think I’ve done - hopefully I've revealed a lot more about Malcolm Young than was known beforehand."
Speaking about the possibility of a new album and world tour by AC/DC, Apter reveals: "Yeah, it's really interesting. I’m of the school that without Malcolm it feels a little bit odd - it just doesn’t quite feel like AC/DC. But at the same time I totally ‘get it’. Angus is now - he's always been the focal point of the band but now Angus is really – he adopted I guess Malcolm's role as the driving force of the band, and Angus has never done anything else in his life. AC/DC has been his life since he was a teenager y’know and he's now deep into his 60’s. I think his attitude is like that of say the (Rolling) Stones or the old bluesmen - y’know ‘why do I have to stop ? What's forcing me to stop? If I can still play and still enjoy it and we still draw big crowds and we're not embarrassing ourselves there's no harm in doing what we’re doing’. There's still a demand for it as their recent tours have shown - y’know hundreds of thousands of people are still coming to see AC/DC."
Jeff Apter has written over twenty five books including 2017’s High Voltage: The Life of Angus Young AC/DC's Last Man Standing. He has also worked as a ghostwriter on books by former AC/DC bassist Mark Evans (Dirty Deeds) and AC/DC's former manager, Michael Browning (Dog Eat Dog).

THE OFFSPRING 'Had An Amazing Time In The Studio' Making New Album With Producer BOB ROCKSeminal punk band THE OFFSPRING is putting the finishing touches on its first album in seven years.
The mega-platinum-selling group has been recording with Grammy-winning producer Bob Rock in between extensive tours.
The yet-to-be-titled album will be the follow-up to 2012's ninth studio album, "Days Go By", and their third consecutive release with Rock, who also produced 2008's "Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace".
"We've had an amazing time in the studio with Bob," says vocalist/guitarist Dexter Holland. "We have history with him — he knows what works for us and how to get the best out of us. Save for a few small things, we're pretty much wrapped and excited to get these tunes out there. We have a lot of really fast stuff on there, plus a couple of things that you might not really expect from us."
"People keep asking me what it sounds like and I say, it sounds like…us,” muses guitarist Noodles. "It's all there — the melody, the powerful drums, bass and guitar. We dig it. You'll dig it."
2019 marks two important milestones for the Southern California-based group, including the 35th anniversary of their formation and the 25th anniversary of 1994's landmark album, "Smash". Since its release, "Smash" has sold over 10 million copies and remains the highest-selling indie album of all time.
The band just wrapped a North American tour that included Vans Warped Tour 25th Anniversary shows. Their high-octane performance at the recent Atlantic City date drew praise from Brooklyn Vegan, who wrote, "they've really got a lot of hits and they still have the energy, the attitude and the nasally sneer needed to deliver. THE OFFSPRING's classics are embedded into punk's DNA at this point. If you care about this kind of music, they've probably impacted you either directly or indirectly. And they still bring it."
The band's international tour kicks off today in Helsinki.
Over the course of their remarkable career, THE OFFSPRING have performed over a thousand shows to packed-house crowds across the globe. They've hit the Top 5 of the Billboard Top 200 albums chart four times and their last single, "Coming For You", marked the 27th Billboard Alternative Songs entry for THE OFFSPRING, tying them with R.E.M. for sixth place among acts with the most visits since the chart began in 1988. They join an elite group led by U2, PEARL JAM, GREEN DAY, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS and FOO FIGHTERS. THE OFFSPRING have written and recorded a plethora of blockbuster radio hits, including "Self Esteem" (176 million Spotify streams and 36 million YouTube views), "The Kids Aren't Alright" (232 million Spotify, 63 million YouTube), "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)" (153 million Spotify, 12 million YouTube) and "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" (281 million Spotify, 34 million YouTube), among many others. Along the way, they've sold over 40 million albums (including more than 11 million copies of 2005's "Americana") and have racked up billions of streams. 6

Man Dies After Attending SLIPKNOT Concert In Tinley ParkAccording to Patch.com, police have opened an investigation into the death of a 62-year-old man during a SLIPKNOT concert in Tinley Park, Illinois last Sunday (August 11). Foul play is not suspected, police said.
According to Patch.com, a 62-year-old man died after falling to the ground during this past Sunday's (August 11) "Knotfest Roadshow" concert at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, Illinois.
Richard Valadez was pronounced dead at 11:34 p.m. The cause of his death is not yet known, and an autopsy is pending, a spokeswoman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.
Witnesses told Patch.com that Valadez joined in some of the mosh pits that formed in the lawn section and was knocked to the ground at least once.
About an hour into headliner SLIPKNOT's set, he fell out of the pit and into the grass. As people were trying to help him up, he suffered a seizure and witnesses called for help. Two men performed CPR on him before staff and emergency personnel showed up to assist Valadez.
"They definitely should have handled things better: More emergency presence for one. And a better way for people to alert that they need help," one witness said about the amphitheater staff's response to the incident.
"Overall, the whole venue just screwed the pooch on the entire thing," another witness said. "No communication, no preparation, nothing."
The North American "Knotfest Roadshow" tour is SLIPKNOT's first in nearly three years. Also appearing on the bill are VOLBEAT from Denmark, BEHEMOTH from Poland and GOJIRA from France. 15

HALESTORM Singer On Whether Rap Artists Are New 'Rock Stars': 'Unless You're Underground With Us, You're Probably Not'Last December, BRING ME THE HORIZON frontman Oli Sykes rekindled the debate over the so-called decaying current state of rock music, echoing the sentiment of the mainstream that rap artists are the new "rock stars" based largely on their flamboyant lifestyles and oversized fanbases. "Rappers are almost the new rock 'n' roll or punk or whatever," he said. "Rock's gone soft, it's gone miserable and boring, there's not really much exciting about it."
In an interview with Kaaos TV prior to HALESTORM's appearance at this year's Tuska festival in Helsinki, Finland, frontwoman Lzzy Hale and guitarist Joe Hottinger were asked about their take on Sykes's comment.
"I don't know," said Lzzy. "I think personally, whether you're a rap star, a pop star or a country star, everybody wants to be a rock star. It doesn't mean you are. But…"
"It depends on your definition of a rock star, too," added Joe. "They definitely make more money. Rock is a little underground right now, which I love it. We're down here simmering, and there's some really cool music happening, and [there are] fans all over the world that stick with you forever, [whereas] these pop things happen and it's vapid. A band goes up and it comes down real fast 'cause people just move on to the next thing.
"It's the only way we've ever known," he continued. "We weren't operating in a time like the '80s and '90s when rock was at the top of the charts and [was] the biggest thing happening. Now it's… it has been — whatever. All the money is over there, and that's fine. They can have it. We have a really cool thing going on here in rock and roll, and I like it."
Lzzy said that people who go to rock shows are often there for the experience rather than as an excuse for something to do on a Saturday night. "They're not there to show off their cute outfits and take selfies; they're there because it's a part of their life," she said. "And some of these kids primally need to be there to make themselves feel like they belong somewhere. And I think that that's powerful. So we're very proud of that."
She added: "Like I said, everybody wants to wear the leather jacket and be a rock star, but, really, the truth is that unless you're underground with us, you're probably not. [Laughs]"
HALESTORM's latest album, "Vicious", came out in July 2018 via Atlantic. It was recorded at Nashville, Tennessee's Rock Falcon recording studio with producer Nick Raskulinecz (RUSH, ALICE IN CHAINS, DEFTONES).
The group's 19-date summer tour with ALICE COOPER kicks off on July 17 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. 7

BLUE ÖYSTER CULT To Release Long-Awaited New Studio Album In 2020Frontiers Music Srl has announced the signing of BLUE ÖYSTER CULT.
For over four decades, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT has been thrilling fans of intelligent hard rock worldwide with powerful albums loaded with classic songs. Indeed, the Long Island, New York‐based band is revered within the hard rock and heavy metal scene for its pioneering work. BLUE ÖYSTER CULT occupies a unique place in rock history because it's one of very few hard rock/heavy metal bands to earn both genuine mainstream critical acclaim as well as commercial success. Now they have partnered up with Frontiers Music Srl to continue their amazing journey.
Frontiers president Serafino Perugino said: "We are delighted to be able to bring back the iconic BLUE ÖYSTER CULT with the release of a wealth of musical material that will certainly please all the fans. Hard rock music would not be what is now without BÖC and Frontiers is their natural 'home.' We look forward to a long and fruitful cooperation."
BLUE ÖYSTER CULT's Eric Bloom commented: "It's been a long time since BÖC's last studio album. Our biggest question from fans is 'when are we going to do some new music?' So we are ready to take this journey again. Recording with Danny, Richie and Jules should be a great experience as we've been touring together for years and Buck and I are looking forward to including them in the creative and recording process."
Adds Buck Dharma: "The current band is GREAT and has never been recorded other than the live concerts, so we feel now is the time for new songs to be written and recorded. About half of the songs for the new record exist and the rest will be finished during the process."
A new studio album is expected to be released from the band in 2020. Fans can also expect to see remastered reissues (some with updated artwork) of four classic BÖC releases, including:
1. "Cult Classic" (originally released in 1994)
2. "Heaven Forbid" (originally released in 1998) [Not available for North / South America]
3. "Curse Of The Hidden Mirror" (originally released in 2001) [Not available for North / South America]
4. "A Long Day's Night" (Live CD/DVD and Blu-ray) originally released in 2002 — Blu-ray version to be released for the first time)
Additionally, in 2020 the band will present five new live releases which include:
1. Live show from the iHeart Radio Theater 2012 (40th Anniversary).
2. Live show from Hard Rock Casino Cleveland 2014
3. Live show from Rock of Ages Festival in Germany 2016
4. 40th Anniversary of "Agents of Fortune" shot in L.A. in April 2017 ["Agents Of Fortune" album played front to back]
5. BÖC 45th-anniversary show "Live In London June 17th 2017") [includes BÖC first album played in its entirety back to back]
BÖC is often cited as a major influence by other acts such as METALLICA, and BÖC was listed in VH1's countdown of the greatest hard rock bands of all time.
Upon the release of BÖC's self-titled debut album in 1972, the band was praised for its catchy-yet-heavy music and lyrics that could be provocative, terrifying, funny or ambiguous, often all in the same song. BÖC's canon contains three stone‐cold classic songs that will waft through the cosmos long after the sun has burned out: the truly haunting "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" from 1976's "Agents Of Fortune", the pummeling "Godzilla" from 1977's "Spectres" and the hypnotically melodic "Burnin' for You" from 1981's "Fire Of Unknown Origin". Other notable BÖC songs include "Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll", "Then Came The Last Days Of May", "I Love The Night", "In Thee", "Veteran Of The Psychic Wars", "Dominance And Submission", "Astronomy", "Black Blade" and "Shooting Shark".
The intense creative vision of BÖC's original core duo of vocalist/lead guitarist Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser and vocalist/rhythm guitarist Eric Bloom are complemented by Richie Castellano on guitar and keyboards, and the longtime rhythm section of bass guitarist Danny Miranda, and drummer Jules Radino.

GEOFF TATE Says QUEENSRŸCHE Have Been Approached For Reunion Tour – “It’s Been Offered And It Hasn’t Happened”Greg Schmitt of 88.1FM WESU’s weekly syndicated radio show Noize In The Attic recently caught up with Geoff Tate at the Tailwinds Music Festival in Wappinger Falls, NY. Check out the interview below, which begins at about the 40 minute mark.
Explosive excerpts bellow:
On Queensrÿche:
Greg: There definitely is a chemistry between the original five...
Tate: “Yeah, it was magic. And we gave it a really good run for as long as we did. And I have no regrets in that area. I think we made some amazing music, I think we made some milestone albums. We definitely left our mark as a chemistry; a group, you know. And I’m very proud of that… I don’t know if bands are meant to last forever anyway, ‘ya know? I mean, we gave it 30 years. That’s a long time to dedicate yourself to a group of people... so I feel very proud of it. I guess my only regret is that I wish it hadn’t unraveled the way it did. It was not a classy way to handle the whole thing, and I don’t think that the name or the music should’ve been diminished like it was, and that’s probably the only thing I would change about the whole thing.”
Greg: If the right promoter came around with the right offer, could you ever see all five for a summer?
Tate: “Well, that has happened already. It’s been offered, and it hasn’t happened.”
Greg: Did the phone ring, and was it actually discussed and knocked around at least?
Tate: “It was on my end, yeah.”
Greg: So you see the value in it?
Tate: “Oh yeah, absolutely, it would be a wonderful thing to give it one more tour; one more good tour where the band was playing well together and it was a good energy… (but) you can’t heal anything if nobody is willing to get in the room together, and that’s been the big problem since 2011.”
Greg: Here’s to hoping...
Tate: “Yeah.”
Greg: Scott Rockenfield has left QR and now they’re down to two (original members). You have any idea what that’s about? Anything you can share?
Tate: “Well, I can tell you that I’m pretty sure he didn’t leave on his own accord. I can tell you that there’s lawsuits involved; I know that... He’s in kind of a really dark place, and I hope he gets some help, 'cause he’s really unraveled, you know? In my opinion. It’s too bad - he’s an incredibly talented drummer, and unfortunately, he never was happy with that, ‘ya know? It wasn’t good enough for him.”
Greg: Have you spoken to him since?
Tate: “No, he won’t talk to me.”
Having recently wrapped up performances of the entire Operation: Mindcrime album in celebration of it's 30th anniversary, former Queensrÿche singer Geoff Tate is set to do it all over again, but this time in celebration of Queensrÿche's Empire album, released in 1990.
Speaking with MisplacedStraws.com, about the 30th anniversary of Empire, Tate reveals: "I'm planning on touring in 2020 pretty heavily...I want to do as many countries as I can playing the album in it's entirety which I never done before."
Hear the complete interview at MisplacedStraws.com.
Frontiers Music Srl recently announced the release of an exciting new project featuring Geoff Tate on lead vocals, entitled Sweet Oblivion, out on June 14. Listen to the song "Hide Away" below, and pre-order the album here.
Sweet Oblivion sees Tate teaming up with a stellar cast of Italian musicians led by Simone Mularoni, the mastermind of prog metal masters DGM. Musically, this album marks a return to the more melodic metal style for Tate and showcases a fine collection of songs highlighting the great talents of Mularoni and his cast of musicians.
Geoff Tate says, "I was approached by Frontiers to do this record and am pleased I took this chance. It’s an album filled with fun and I believe a lot of the fans who dig the old Queensrÿche sound will enjoy this one!”
Simone Mularoni adds, "I grew up listening to the '70s and '80s rock and metal bands and, of course, Queensrÿche's classic albums are among my favorites ever. Having the opportunity and luck of working together with a musical giant like Geoff Tate has been a real blessing on both the human and the artistic side. I asked a few amazing musicians and friends to help me out and together we delivered a bunch of classic heavy rock songs in which I tried to fuse a more contemporary approach with a classic Queensrÿche vibe… the performances are amazing!”
The opening track and first video “True Colors” sets the pace for the entire release and shows what the listeners can expect from this record. Excellent musicianship and a sound that harkens back to the massive melodies and hooks of classic albums like Empire, Rage For Order, and Operation: Mindcrime.

Y&T Frontman DAVE MENIKETTI Reacts To Fire Loss Of His Band's Master TapesY&T frontman Dave Meniketti has responded to reports that his band was among the Universal Music Group (UMG) artists who had their master recordings destroyed a fire more than a decade ago.
Earlier this month, a report by The New York Times revealed for the first time that recordings by many of music's biggest artists were destroyed in a fire that swept through the Hollywood lot of Universal Studios on June 1, 2008. Among the recordings lost — many of which may have been on original master tapes — were songs from NIRVANA, SOUNDGARDEN, NINE INCH NAILS, GUNS N' ROSES, BECK, NO DOUBT, AEROSMITH, R.E.M. and more. Also lost were almost all of Buddy Holly's masters, plus classic and/or early recordings from Etta James, Billie Holiday, Louie Armstrong, Al Jolson, Bing Crosby, Aretha Franklin, John Coltrane, Al Green, Ray Charles, Elton John, B.B. King, THE FOUR TOPS, Snoop Dogg, Chuck Berry, Tom Petty, Joan Baez, Neil Diamond, Cat Stevens, GLADYS KNIGHT AND THE PIPS, Eric Clapton, THE EAGLES, Rufus and Chaka Khan, Barry White, Patti LaBelle, THE POLICE, Sting, Steve Earle, Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Sheryl Crow, Tupac Shakur, Eminem, 50 Cent, and countless more.
This past Tuesday, The New York Times released a list of more than 700 artists affected by the Universal fire. Those artists were tracked in a confidential list maintained by Universal Music Group, and subsequently leaked.
Earlier today, Meniketti took to Facebook to share a link to The New York Times' latest article and included the following message:
"Just found out a few minutes ago that Y&T was named as one of many artists who had their master recordings destroyed in the Universal Music fire that happened 11 years ago and just came to everyone's attention recently.
"We checked with someone at Universal yesterday and she claimed our masters were not burned in the fire. However we'll absolutely need further clarification and proof of this, as that now appears to be a false claim.
"They received a large insurance payment for the damages and kept it from the public awareness for 11 years! Devastating to so many artists on that list. I know that Universal had been in the process of backing up some of these masters digitally, but there's no way they did so for every one of these artists.
"Universal Music has ALL of our masters from London Records, A&M and Geffen. Everything we recorded from 1975 through 1990, including 2" multi-tracks, 1/4" and 1/2" analog masters of every release, rough mixes of everything we put to tape, out-takes, unreleased songs ideas, original album artwork, videos, etc.
"If this holds up to be true, it's a sad day for all associated with these classic YESTERDAY & TODAY/Y&T recordings."
It was reported a week ago that SOUNDGARDEN and HOLE are among the artists who have filed a class action lawsuit against Universal over the fire. The lawsuit seeks to recover half of any settlement proceeds and insurance payments received by UMG and half of any remaining loss of value not compensated by such settlement proceeds and insurance payments. The suit claims that Universal took in settlement proceeds and insurance claims valued at $150 million.
At the time of the fire, the coverage focused on the damage to Universal's film, TV and theme park properties, with representatives stating that most of the music kept in the vault on the lot had been moved to "our other facilities" or "digitized." The New York Times revealed, however, that more than 118,000 "assets" were destroyed, containing half a million individual recordings. Many were from famed labels such as Decca, Chess, Impulse, MCA, Geffen, ABC, A&M and Interscope.
Randy Aronson, the senior director of vault operations at the time, told The New York Times that the company priced the actual combined total of lost tape and "loss of artistry" at $150 million. The New York Times itself referred to the fire as "the biggest disaster in the history of the music business," citing internal reports, legal documents and the recollection of Aronson and others who were there.
Universal has disputed The New York Times story, saying it contains "numerous inaccuracies, misleading statements, contradictions and fundamental misunderstandings of the scope of the incident and affected assets." The company also cited its recent history of releasing high-quality reissues of many of the albums claimed to have been destroyed, adding, "Music preservation is of the highest priority for us and we are proud of our track record."

LIVING COLOUR Singer Is Collaborating With ADRENALINE MOB Guitarist On 'Bluesy' And 'Funky' AlbumADRENALINE MOB guitarist Mike Orlando is collaborating with LIVING COLOUR vocalist Corey Glover on a new project. The as-yet-unnamed band is currently recording its debut album for a tentative early 2020 release.
In a recent interview with the "Talking Metal" podcast, Orlando described the project's musical direction as "just straight-up rock. It's heavy rock. Of course, it's just one hundred percent chock-full of Corey Glover and my guitar styles. [It's] bluesy [and] funky. There's a little RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE in there. There's a little bit of soul in there. All the stuff that I love kind of just melded into one melting pot. It's just a conglomeration of styles all melded into one. There's no one particular thing that it screams. It's just heavy, hard rock kick in you know what. [Laughs]"
Describing the upcoming album as "one of the best things I have ever done," Mike said that Corey "is not only the coolest cat going, but he is one of the greatest singers on this earth. It's such an amazing experience to play with Corey and to be doing an album with him."
He added: "It's everything you would imagine from Corey, and I add my element to it, which is different than I've ever done. It's not ADRENALINE MOB, it's not SONIC STOMP — this is something really cool and different for me, so it's even that much more special for me."
According to Orlando, nine songs have been recorded so far, with plans to possibly lay down a few more and complete the record by the end of 2019.
"[Corey] has a big schedule, and I've been doing a lot of stuff and working behind the scenes, redoing my entire recording studio and just getting really back into this now," Mike said. "So, yeah, it's just basically [a matter of] scheduling."
Orlando and Glover will play their first show together on September 9 at the Iridium in New York City.
Three years ago, Mike was injured in an ADRENALINE MOB road accident that resulted in the death of the band's bassist, David Zablidowsky.
At the time of the accident, ADRENALINE MOB was touring in support of its third studio album, "We The People", which was released in June 2017 via Century Media.
I could not be more excited to announce teaming up with one of music greatest singers.. the incredibly talented & Grammy...Posted by Mike Orlando Music on Friday, June 8, 2018

THE PRICE Featuring MARCO BARUSSO - Debut Album, A Second Chance To Rise, Due In AugustThe Price stems from the need to summarize the musical past of Marco Barusso. This is in all respects a solo project. The synthesis of his journey as a musician and songwriter with Heavy Metal Kids (2002 - 2010) and Cayne (2006 - 2014), added to his experience as a producer, arranger, session musician and sound engineer for artists like Lacuna Coil, Him, Thirty Seconds To Mars, and a long list of Italian mainstream artists.
For the realization of the first album of The Price, entitled A Second Chance To Rise, Marco Barusso was able to cooperate with a great number of different artists, with whom he had the pleasure of collaborating in the past. Some of them are also the members for the live lineup, such as Guido Carli (drums), Axel Capurro (voices and guitars), and Claudio Sannoner (bass). Others are renowned artists from the international and Italian music scene.
A Second Chance To Rise will see a worldwide release on August 16th, and contains the following 12 tracks:
"Tears Roll Down"
"MG Of Stone"
"My Escape"
"Enemy"
"Take Back Our Life"
"Free From Yesterday"
"Lilith"
"Stormy Weather"
"On The Edge Of Madness"
"E.C.P."
"Under My Skin"
"Strange World"
The album will be accompanied by a series of film-like video clips close to the noir genre, focusing on the macro-issue of pathological human relationships and often morbid and degenerative implications. One of the objectives for these videos is to become a feature-length film (like Four Rooms by Tarantino or the Black Mirror series) once they are all done. So far, four videos and singles from this series have been released.

EDGE OF PARADISE Sign Multi-Album Deal With Frontiers Music SrlFrontiers Music Srl has announced the signing of Los Angeles-based metal act, Edge Of Paradise, to the label's roster for a multi-album deal.
Formed by singer Margarita Monet and guitarist Dave Bates in 2011, Edge Of Paradise debuted on the scene a few months later with Mask, an album of industrial-tinged metal coupled with soaring vocal hooks, which was warmly received by critics and fans alike.
After the release of Mask and touring all over the West Coast, the group immediately began writing another album. By 2013, the band had started recording with Grammy Award winning producer Bob Kulick (KISS, Motörhead) and working with the legendary Michael Wagener (Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Skid Row) on the mix of their new songs. Perfect Shade Of Black EP was the result of these sessions. The EP received rave reviews, painting a vivid picture of the bands staggering growth.
2014 served as a heavy touring year for the band and after gigging heavily around the US, the band managed to record and release their second full length studio album, Immortal Waltz. Produced and recorded by Michael Wagener, the album was released in May 2015 and right away the album started to receive great reviews from critics and fans alike.
Come March 2017, Edge Of Paradise released a 5 song EP, Alive, which was produced by Chuck Johnson (AFI, Riddlin' Kids) with tracks mixed by Jay Ruston, Mike Plotnikoff, and Michael Wagener. Alive entered the Billboard charts on the New Artist and Current Hard Rock Albums charts, while also reaching #1 on Amazon and Top 40 on iTunes respective hard rock/metal album charts during the first week of sales. Alive received continuing rave reviews and LA's revered rock station, KLOS gave "Shade Of Crazy" some love on their airwaves. Edge Of Paradise also made their international debut at Femme Festival in Holland and recently played in Japan in support of the Alive EP.
The new album, Universe, is currently being completed with Mike Plotnikoff (Halestorm, In Flames, Buckcherry) producing and mixing set to be handled by Jacob Hansen (Amaranthe, Volbeat, Pretty Maids).

TALLAH Feat. MAX PORTNOY: Debut Album Due Later This YearPennsylvania metal band TALLAH — which features in its ranks Max Portnoy, son of Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, THE WINERY DOGS, SONS OF APOLLO) — has inked a deal with Earache Records. The group's full-length debut will be released later in the year.
Mike tweeted out the signing news, writing: "Congratulations to @MaxPortnoy_ & @tallah__ for signing with @EaracheRecords !! What a great fit. I see great things ahead for these guys...their live show is OFF THE HOOK!!!"
TALLAH's latest EP, titled "No One Should Read This", came out last year. At the time, the effort was described in a press release as consisting of "five uniquely different songs with a new age, hardcore influence."
TALLAH is comprised of Justin Bonitz on vocals, Andrew Cooper on bass, Derrick Schneider on guitar, Eric Novroski on guitar and Max Portnoy on drums.
Last year, Max told 100 Percent Rock Magazine about TALLAH's musical direction: "I don't like putting a genre on something. It makes people think you're confined to one specific sound whereas I want to be confined to my own sound. I've heard people say we have a nu-metal sound to us and I agree, but at the same time, I've heard people say we have our own unique sound to us. I think we have a heavy influence from nu-metal, but we add our own unique take on it and draw influence from other styles like hardcore. The stuff is heavy, weird, and pretty out there, which is what we love. We want to try things out of the box. Whether it's the vocals, the arrangements, the different riffs or noise we use, we try to do something in each song that stands out and is very discernible that it is TALLAH."

BON JOVI Guitarist PHIL X And THE DRILLS: 'Something To Say' Music VideoPhil X, prolific studio guitarist, songwriter and renowned guitarist for Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees BON JOVI, has released the official music video for lead single "Something To Say" from the forthcoming studio album by his band THE DRILLS. The new album, featuring DRILLS bassist Daniel Spree, alongside Phil X and special guests (listed below), offers six new songs by the band and is due on May 3.
PHIL X & THE DRILLS appeared in the rock music world with their first album release, "Kick Your Ass In 17 Minutes", in September 2009. The opening track, "Air Hockey Champion Of The World", established the group as serious rock contenders with an added touch of humor and a unique blend of modern rock that stated the obvious inspirations of the classic archives the band grew up on. Garnering immediate praise from critics, the band drew a global following in a short time with sales on seven continents.
2011's "We Bring The Rock n' Roll" and 2012's "We Play Instruments N' Shit" offered a consistent stream of new music that showcased the above the board talents Phil X maintains. These have made him sought after for studio work with artists, including Tommy Lee, Alice Cooper, Orianthi, Rob Zombie and TRIUMPH, among others. Cemented into the framework of modern rock music, Phil earned a slot in the band BON JOVI, even performing on stage with the band during their 2018 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction.
Answering an interview after the recording of BON JOVI's 2016 release "This House Is Not For Sale", Phil stated that a new album would be in the making, and it would include a host of friends recording it. Gathering the tribes and being patient has made it worth the wait.
The album is titled "Stupid Good Lookings" and has the abbreviation Vol. 1 on the corner. Phil X shared with publicist Joe Dolan that with the success of this recording and the fun he's had making it… Vol. 2 is already looking like something to come in the near future.
