Watch JESSE LEACH And HOWARD JONES Face Off In KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's 'The Signal Fire' Video"The Signal Fire", the new music video from Massachusetts metallers KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, can be seen below. The song, which features a guest appearance by former KILLSWITCH ENGAGE singer Howard Jones, is taken from the band's new album, "Atonement", which was released on August 16 via Metal Blade Records in the U.S. and Sony Music Entertainment in the rest of the world. The electrifying performance clip was directed by the band's longtime collaborator Ian McFarland ("The Godfathers Of Hardcore", MESHUGGAH).
"This video is a demonstration of solidarity and unity," says KILLSWITCH ENGAGE singer Jesse Leach. "This is for the fans and this is our testimony to all who see this video. In these times we live in, I believe this is an important message — not just for us as a band and our fans but for all of humanity. This is a call for compassion and understanding! There is strength in unity."
Leach continues: "The making of the video was a great experience as well. Just all of us guys hanging out and having fun together. Ian McFarland did a hell of a job capturing the vibe and energy of our performances."
"It was another silly day at the office," adds Jones. "Good food, lots of wrestling talk, and hanging with the boys is a great way to spend the day and get a little work done. Shoutout to Ian McFarland for making everything painless at the shoot. The day was all smiles — with a hint of metal."
Leach said that he wrote "The Signal Fire" lyrics "with Howard in mind and our connection through our similar mental illnesses." He explained: "I mean, now that I've hung with this guy a few times, it's 'crazy' (pun intended) how similar we are. We are brothers in metal, anxiety, hardcore music, love of medicinal marijuana and fighting depression.
"We may be very different-sounding voices, but, in truth, we are similar in many ways in our minds," he added.
Jesse went on to say that the song's lyrics are "about keeping hope in dark times and helping out those in need."
Leach, who has previously blamed his exit from KILLSWITCH in 2002 on his battle with depression, said that he planned "on using this song to help continue to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. Both Howard and I have a very strong outspoken stance on the subject and I will use this to help with the cause," he said.
"Atonement" is the culmination of a trying and turbulent two-year period. KILLSWITCH ENGAGE started kicking around ideas for the album as early as 2017. The band recorded the bulk of the material separately on both coasts. However, in the middle of the process, a polyp developed scar tissue in singer Jesse Leach's throat, forcing him to undergo surgery. The intense three-month recovery ended with speech therapy, vocal therapy, and scream therapy. The band ultimately emerged with an album that is further evidence of their undeniable legacy as one of the most enduring metal bands of the last two decades and beyond.
The elaborate illustration on the "Atonement" album cover was created by none other than talented U.K.-based artist Richey Beckett (METALLICA, MASTODON) with the band's own Mike D'Antonio handling art direction and layout duties.
"Atonement" features an additional guest appearance by TESTAMENT frontman Chuck Billy. It marks the band's third full-length release since the return of Leach, who rejoined the group in 2012.
"Atonement" track listing:
01. Unleashed
02. The Signal Fire (feat. Howard Jones)
03. Us Against The World
04. The Crownless King (feat. Chuck Billy)
05. I Am Broken Too
06. As Sure As The Sun Will Rise
07. Know Your Enemy
08. Take Control
09. Ravenous
10. I Can't Be The Only One
11. Bite The Hand That Feeds
Leach recently said that he "wouldn't change a thing" about the follow-up to 2016's "Incarnate". "At first, I was a bit crestfallen that a few songs I truly loved didn't make the cut," he wrote on Instagram. "Now after time has passed (and I've not listened to it for a while), I listened with fresh ears today. I gotta say I am quite satisfied! The messages, the tones, the track listing order, the artwork, the overall feel of this album, it just feels fresh!
"I feel there is something for everyone on this one. It captures the wide range of styles and topics that are part of our history as a band as well as pushing things just a touch. It is a pretty amazing feeling as a very picky and perpetually unsatisfied (and fairly insecure) artist to feel accomplished."
Leach appeared on KILLSWITCH's self-titled debut and sophomore album, "Alive Or Just Breathing", before exiting the band. Jones took over on vocals for "The End Of Heartache", "As Daylight Dies" and the 2009 self-titled set before being dismissed from the group seven years ago. 1

Ex-NECROPHOBIC Bassist ALEXANDER FRIBERG Slams His 'So-Called Brothers' After Getting Fired From BandSwedish extreme metallers NECROPHOBIC have announced that they have parted ways with bassist Alexander Friberg "due to several reasons." They added in a statement: "We thank him for great times together and wish him the best in the future with his other obligations in NAGLFAR and his main band FIRESPAWN."
Friberg was more pointed in his response to the split, writing on his personal Facebook page: "Nothing lasts forever! It is with sorrow in my heart I make this announcement. I have been a part of NECROPHOBIC for 11 years now but my so called 'brothers' decided to fire me and replace me with the guy who is session for me during my time-out. I have no words for this really. Very nice of you guys... Now that is how you treat a band member since 11 years. Replace me with a guy who did 5 shows with you, ok... On the positive note is that I will have more time to focus on @firespawn_official and @naglfarofficial and to be home with my family, so I win! Life goes on"
NECROPHOBIC's eighth studio album, "Mark Of The Necrogram", was released in February 2018 via Century Media Records.
Formed in 1989, NECROPHOBIC belongs to the first wave of Swedish death metal bands. Ever since the release of its classic debut album, "The Nocturnal Silence" (1993), the band has issued a total of eight studio LPs, among them timeless masterpieces as "Darkside" (1997), "Bloodhymns" (2002) or the 2009 album "Death To All".
NECROPHOBIC was rejoined by guitarists Sebastian Ramstedt and Johan Bergebäck following the band's split with its axeman of five years, Fredrik Folkare.

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS Bassist On His Memoir: 'I Didn't Want To Write A Rock Star Book'RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea spoke to Publishers Weekly about his long-awaited memoir, "Acid For The Children", which will be released on November 5 via Grand Central Publishing. Asked why he decided to focus on his youth in his book, Flea said: "I didn't want to write a rock star book. It was about setting a challenge for myself to write something that wasn't about the CHILI PEPPERS and that would have to stand on its own as a piece of literature. It seemed more interesting to me, and something I could be objective about. Because my childhood is over, but the band is still going.
He continued: "I've been asked to write a memoir many times but have never wanted to do it, because I didn't like the idea of writing a celebrity book, and I didn't like the idea of having a ghost writer, and I didn't want to write a book unless I was really going to sit down and write one, and give myself to it."
Asked if it was difficult to write about his volatile childhood, Flea said: "It wasn't difficult to write about it. It was difficult to share it. I fell in love with the writing process. Every time I put my head down for an hour and wrote, when I came back up it felt so satisfying, like I was engaging a part of my creativity that I had never engaged before."
Featuring a foreword by Patti Smith, the 400-page book, which was originally due last year, "takes readers on a deeply personal and revealing tour of [Flea's] formative years, spanning from Australia to the New York City suburbs to, finally, Los Angeles," according to the memoir's official synopsis. "Through hilarious anecdotes, poetical meditations, and occasional flights of fantasy, Flea deftly chronicles the experiences that forged him as an artist, a musician, and a young man.
The synopsis adds: "His dreamy, jazz-inflected prose makes the Los Angeles of the 1970s and 80s come to gritty, glorious life, including the potential for fun, danger, mayhem, or inspiration that lurked around every corner. It is here that young Flea, looking to escape a turbulent home, found family in a community of musicians, artists, and junkies who also lived on the fringe. He spent most of his time partying and committing petty crimes. But it was in music where he found a higher meaning, a place to channel his frustration, loneliness, and love. This left him open to the life-changing moment when he and his best friends, soul brothers, and partners-in-mischief came up with the idea to start their own band, which became the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS."
Flea's bandmate Kiedis released his own autobiography, "Scar Tissue", back in 2004.
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' latest album, "The Getaway", came out in 2016. 4

FAITH NO MORE Reflect On 30th Anniversary Of The Real Thing - "We Used To Talk About Our Songs In Terms Of Cinema"The 30th anniversary of Faith No More's third studio album is rapidly approaching. The Real Thing - the first to feature vocalist Mike Patton - was released on June 20th 1989. To celebrate this momentous occasion FaithNoMoreFollowers.com asked the fans of Faith No More to submit their questions for the core members of FNM: drummer Mike Bordin, keyboardist Roddy Bottum, and bassist Billy Gould. An excerpt follows:
Keyboardist Roddy Bottum was asked, Was "Woodpecker From Mars" always thought of as an instrumental, or did Patton ever attempt adding lyrics during the demo process?
Bottum: "We used to talk about our songs in terms of cinema. 'Woodpecker' was definitely one of those that we likened to a cinematic mood. I think we felt it had drama and energy without vocals. It is kind of typical of our attitude and bravado at the time. Doing an instrumental seems kind of prog rock of us now, looking back. It was definitely a pompous gesture. I’m so glad we stuck to our guns on decisions like that."

New MEGADETH-Branded Beer, 'Saison 13', Now AvailableA new MEGADETH-branded beer, Saison 13, has just been made available in select Canadian provinces. The follow-up to 2016's À Tout Le Monde will arrive in the U.S. this September.
Saison 13, with its pale amber color and its red-orange hues, is brewed with 13 carefully selected ingredients. This delicious saison offers the perfect combination of malt, fruity and spices punctuated by the fresh hops taste.
Like À Tout Le Monde, Saison 13 is a collaboration between MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine and Unibroue brewmaster Jerry Vietz.
Asked when the first time was that he had a beer, Mustaine told Kilpop: "The first time I had a beer, I was really little — really, really little. Actually, my mom and dad got divorced when I was 4, so I was with my mom. And we lived in Huntington Beach and she worked many cities away, so she would commute from where she worked back to the house, and I came home from school and she would have beer in the fridge. But we were super poor, so it was those beer cans that were white and had the blue letters on it that said 'beer.' The only other beer I can remember at that period was Meister Brau, which was really another awful beer. So it was generic beer and Meister Brau back then, 'cause, like I said, we were really poor. And being of German heritage, beer is kind of like running water for me anyway."
Regarding what he looks for in a good beer, Mustaine said: "Well, I'm kind of spoiled now with our beer, because we use the yeast only one time. Most beer makers, they'll reuse the yeast over and over again. And most batches will be anywhere from the first one to seven batches that they'll use that same yeast. And for us, it's very high quality, it's very crisp. We make sure that the date that when it's finished distilling to when it's packaged to when it's put into the marketplace, there's a timeline for that. Nothing is rushed. It's not about getting it out there and making mass production of this liquid. It's about making sure that… See, it's like art to Jerry. Jerry Vietz's the beer meister. So there's a lot of ties there. And when Jerry had said, 'I think we should call it À Tout Le Monde,' I was, like, 'Great. Whatever you call it, I just like how it tastes.'"
À Tout Le Monde was not Mustaine's first foray into the business of alcoholic beverages. Back in 2014, the MEGADETH leader teamed up with Fallbrook Winery winemaker Vernon Kindred to create the Mustaine Vineyards Cabernet.
It’s time for an encore from @Unibroue and @Megadeth. Our NEW beer, SAISON 13. Available now in select Canadian provinces and coming soon to the US this September! ...Who’s buying? #Saison13 #StrongBeer #MegadethBeer pic.twitter.com/VuzGgKKMjF— Megadeth (@Megadeth) August 19, 20196

QUEEN + BÉJART: Ballet For Life - New Video Trailer Launched For Upcoming DVD, Blu-Ray, Digital ReleaseOn September 6, Eagle Vision will release Queen + Béjart: Ballet For Life, which documents Queen’s music as the inspiration for a unique ballet that has endured for over twenty years, on DVD, Blu-ray & digital video. The DVD and Blu-ray will also be available as deluxe editions, packaged in a 36-page hardback photo book featuring photos from the Ballet For Life. Pre-order here, and watch a new video trailer below:
Ballet For Life was a unique collaboration between three cultural brands: Queen, Versace and the late visionary choreographer Maurice Béjart, celebrating the life and talents of legendary performers, Freddie Mercury and Maurice Béjart’s former principal dancer, Jorge Donn, both of whom died of AIDS. It was first performed in the Théâtre de Chaillot in January 1997 in the presence of Madame Chirac, Elton John and the three surviving members of Queen, John Deacon, Brian May and Roger Taylor.
Queen + Béjart: Ballet For Life features two programs: the documentary by Lynne Wake and Simon Lupton, and a full 1997 performance of the ballet by the Béjart Ballet Lausanne. The documentary, edited by Emmy Award winner Christopher Bird, tells the story of the creation and success of the ballet featuring the great and the good of both rock and dance, including: Brian May, Roger Taylor, Gil Roman, Wayne Sleep and Arlene Phillips. The performance includes incredible archive footage of Freddie Mercury, Maurice Béjart, Queen and Gianni Versace, as well as featuring Versace’s stunning costume designs. The production continues to tour widely, but is captured here performing at Théâtre Métropole, Lausanne in June 1997.
The Ballet For Life film is directed by Maurice Béjart and David Mallet, known specifically for directing live performance concerts of such megastars as Tina Turner, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, and numerous Queen videos including “Bicycle Race”, “Radio Ga Ga”, “I Want to Break Free”, and Freddie’s classic “The Great Pretender” video.
Maurice Béjart’s long-standing friend Gianni Versace was tragically killed in Miami shortly after the filming in Lausanne. Sadly, this departure into the world of ballet for Versace proved to be one of his last.
The production marks the ultimate fusion of Queen’s sweeping emotional melodies, both live and studio tracks, and the timeless ethereal grace and movement of ballet. It is the first and only time a full-length ballet has been paired to rock music, albeit alongside some traditional pieces from Mozart. The theme of the choreography is about the cycle of life and life triumphing over death, which perfectly reflects the mood of the songs. Dancers fuse classical and modern ballet seamlessly to songs including, "It’s a Beautiful Day", "I Was Born to Love You," and "Radio Ga Ga", closing with the spectacular "The Show Must Go On". This release also includes a substantial segment of John Deacon’s final performance with Queen, taken from the Queen + Béjart Ballet For Life premiere performance with Elton John in Paris.
Béjart explained that with Ballet For Life he wanted to bring Freddie Mercury back to life, in doing so he created a delight for both Queen and ballet fans alike. Breaking with tradition, the packed audience applaud throughout the show. This is ballet as you’ve never seen it before, with the wild-eyed euphoria of a rock concert.
Appropriately, Queen + Béjart: Ballet For Life will be released the day after the annual Freddie For A Day events, marking the birthday of the late, great Freddie Mercury.
100% of royalties payable by Eagle Rock Entertainment to Tonleigh Ltd will be donated to The Mercury Phoenix Trust fighting AIDS worldwide.

KRIST NOVOSELIC: NIRVANA's 'Nevermind' Masters Are 'Gone Forever' Following UNIVERSAL FireAccording to The Pulse Of Radio, a report by The New York Times has revealed for the first time that some 500,000 recordings by many of music's biggest artists were destroyed in a fire that swept through the Hollywood lot of Universal Studios on June 1, 2008. Among the recordings lost — many of which may have been on original master tapes — were songs from NIRVANA, SOUNDGARDEN, NINE INCH NAILS, GUNS N' ROSES, BECK, NO DOUBT, AEROSMITH, R.E.M. and more.
Former NIRVANA bassist Krist Novoselic is one of a number of Universal artists have since reacted to the story's publication and provided additional details on some of the lost treasures. Asked by a fan on Twitter if that means that the "Nevermind" masters were destroyed, Novoselic replied: "I think they are gone forever."
Also lost were almost all of Buddy Holly's masters, plus classic and/or early recordings from Etta James, Billie Holiday, Louie Armstrong, Al Jolson, Bing Crosby, Aretha Franklin, John Coltrane, Al Green, Ray Charles, Elton John, B.B. King, THE FOUR TOPS, Snoop Dogg, Chuck Berry, Tom Petty, Joan Baez, Neil Diamond, Cat Stevens, GLADYS KNIGHT AND THE PIPS, Eric Clapton, THE EAGLES, Rufus and Chaka Khan, Barry White, Patti LaBelle, THE POLICE, Sting, Steve Earle, Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Sheryl Crow, Tupac Shakur, Eminem, 50 Cent, and countless more.
At the time of the fire, the coverage focused on the damage to Universal's film, TV and theme park properties, with representatives stating that most of the music kept in the vault on the lot had been moved to "our other facilities" or "digitized." The New York Times revealed, however, that more than 118,000 "assets" were destroyed, containing half a million individual recordings. Many were from famed labels such as Decca, Chess, Impulse, MCA, Geffen, ABC, A&M and Interscope.
Randy Aronson, the senior director of vault operations at the time, told The New York Times that the company priced the actual combined total of lost tape and "loss of artistry" at $150 million. The New York Times itself referred to the fire as "the biggest disaster in the history of the music business," citing internal reports, legal documents and the recollection of Aronson and others who were there.
Universal has disputed The New York Times story, saying it contains "numerous inaccuracies, misleading statements, contradictions and fundamental misunderstandings of the scope of the incident and affected assets." The company also cited its recent history of releasing high-quality reissues of many of the albums claimed to have been destroyed, adding, "Music preservation is of the highest priority for us and we are proud of our track record."

JUDAS PRIEST's RICHIE FAULKNER Says K.K. DOWNING 'Looked And Sounded Great' During First Performance In 10 YearsRichie Faulkner says that K.K. Downing "looked and sounded great" when he returned to the live stage earlier this month as a special guest of ex-MANOWAR axeman Ross "The Boss" Friedman. Downing's August 11 appearance at the Bloodstock Open Air festival at Catton Park, Derbyshire, United Kingdom marked K.K.'s first public performance since October 17, 2009 when JUDAS PRIEST played the final "British Steel 30th Anniversary" date on the "Nostradamus" world tour at Japan's Loud Park festival in Chiba City, Japan.
Asked by a fan on Twitter if he has seen video footage of Downing's latest performance, Faulkner responded: "Yeah I thought he looked and sounded great. Good to see the man up on stage where he belongs again"
Last September, Downing said that he felt like he was "being cloned" when he first found out he was being replaced by Faulkner.
Downing, who announced his retirement from PRIEST in April 2011 after nearly 42 years in the job, admitted to the "Appetite For Distortion" podcast that he was taken aback when he first saw his replacement.
"Richie, as far as I know, is a nice guy and obviously an excellent player," Downing said. "I was a bit disappointed when, basically… I think the idea was to replace me [with a lookalike], so I did feel as though I was kind of being cloned. But I'm not sure that was exactly fair to Richie. I mean, I could be off the mark here, but I think Richie had the right to bring himself to the stage with his own… portray his own image and ability to play the instrument the way that he does. But it is what it is."
He continued: "When Glenn [Tipton] retired from touring [earlier this year], the same didn't happen — obviously, [Tipton's replacement] Andy [Sneap] doesn't look anything like Glenn; he doesn't wear the same clothes, the red pants, guitars or anything like that. So I don't really know what's going on. But it is what it is.
"I know Andy quite well and worked with him before and consider him a friend and a great talent," Downing added. "And the guys seem to be pretty comfortable with what they're doing now, and I would encourage everybody to… if you get a chance to see PRIEST whenever they can, go out there and support the mighty PRIEST in whatever format they may be in."
Despite his initial reservations about Richie's visual appearance, K.K. never questioned Faulkner's playing ability, saying: "I know Richie is predominantly a Les Paul guy and he's looked up to Zakk Wylde, Randy Rhoads, Michael Schenker and players like that. That's what he says. I don't recall me being cited as an influence on Richie when he was in his young days. But it is what it is.
"To my mind, JUDAS PRIEST is certainly bigger and more legendary than any individuals in the band," he added. "So PRIEST will always put on a good show, and, obviously, I like to think they have great songs and, obviously, you've got Rob [Halford] up there who's the voice of PRIEST and does incredibly well, certainly at this time in his life."
In a 2011 interview with the Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat, Halford stated about Faulkner's physical resemblance to a younger Downing: "People are saying, 'It's a clone. You've got some of K.K.'s DNA.' It's just the way it turned out. We made, like, a secret search When we knew K.K. was not gonna be making the tour, we did a lot of secret, kind of, searching for another player. And Richie just happened to be the guy. And he just happens to look a little bit of the K.K. image, you know?! I think it would be silly to say, 'We looked for a guitar player that looks like Ken.' What we want is a very good metal guitar player, and that's what Richie Faulkner is."
In early 2018, Downing — who is a founding member of the British heavy metal legends — released a statement in which he said that he was "shocked and stunned" that he wasn't invited to return to JUDAS PRIEST following Tipton's announcement that he would no longer be touring with the band due to his battle with Parkinson's disease.
Downing's autobiography, "Heavy Duty: Days And Nights In Judas Priest", was released in September 2018 via Da Capo Press.

MEGADETH's DAVID ELLEFSON: 'I Was Not A Big Fan Of The OZZY OSBOURNE Years Of BLACK SABBATH'During an appearance on the "Do You Know Jack?" podcast, MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson was asked how old he was when he was first explosed to Geezer Butler's (BLACK SABBATH) playing. He responded (hear audio below): "I didn't hear Geezer until I was quite a bit older. I guess I probably heard 'Paranoid', 'cause I played it in one of my bands when I was probably — I don't know — 13, 14 years old. But, honestly, I was not a big fan of the Ozzy years of SABBATH. 'Paranoid' is my favorite SABBATH record from the Ozzy era, but when I really got attuned into SABBATH was when Ronnie James Dio joined the band on the 'Heaven And Hell' album. That was really my era of SABBATH — particularly that album and 'Mob Rules'. Those were the two… And it's because that's the age I was at when I was being introduced to the current heavy metal that was going on around me. SABBATH was cool with Ozzy, but it was kind of more of a throwback into DEEP PURPLE, LED ZEPPELIN, and, quite honestly, that was kind of a generation before me. My music I grew up on was KISS, STYX, CHEAP TRICK, VAN HALEN, BOSTON, and then, as I started to get into heavier stuff, began that Ronnie Dio era of RAINBOW, SABBATH, SCORPIONS, IRON MAIDEN, MOTÖRHEAD — that was really more my generation."
Ellefson also talked about his musical role in MEGADETH and how it compares to that of Butler in SABBATH. He said: "As far as the bass role, [we are] very different, the two bands, because SABBATH is essentially a three-piece band with a singer. We are a four-piece band, and one of the musicians also sings. Whereas there is one guitar that anchors SABBATH, Geezer has a lot of liberty to go off and fill a lot of space, and can come from a bit of a bluesy background, from a bass point — a lot of pentatonic stuff that he can fill a lot of the space with. In MEGADETH, that's not the case. [We have] two guitar players who essentially play, on the rhythm guitar parts, very similar parts — the riffs are the building blocks of the songs. So I'm kind of the glue in the middle that sort of ties all that together. So our roles are very different inside our bands."
Ellefson's debut solo album, "Sleeping Giants", will be released on July 19 via Combat Records. The record is a companion release to his new memoir, "More Life With Deth", which will be in stores July 16 via Jawbone Press.

The song "Hammer (Comes Down)" also features a long-awaited fan reunion of Ellefson and former MEGADETH guitarist Chris Poland, making their first commercially released collaboration since MEGADETH's iconic "Peace Sells.. But Who's Buying?" album. 5

FOO FIGHTERS 'Should' Have New Studio Album Out In 2020Taylor Hawkins has revealed that FOO FIGHTERS will begin work on their tenth studio album later this year.
Speaking to Rock Sound before the band's August 17 gig in Glasgow, the drummer stated about FOO FIGHTERS' planned follow-up to 2017's "Concrete And Gold": "Well, from what I've heard from our fearless leader, Dave Grohl, he has a lot of demos that he's worked on. And I think we'll start, once this [European] tour is over... I think not too soon after that, we'll start the process of putting the songs together as a band."
He added: "It's a long process — we do a lot of demoing and stuff — but I think that we'll have — I'm hoping — I think we'll have a new record by next year. We should."
Last month, FOO FIGHTERS released a surprise live EP. Titled "00950025", the three-song effort features "elusive live tracks," namely performances of "For All the Cows" and "Wattershed" from the band's headline set at 1995's Reading festival, as well as a live recording of "Next Year" from a 2000 concert in Melbourne, Australia.
FOO FIGHTERS are continuing to tour in support of "Concrete And Gold". Although the disc reached the top of the Billboard chart, it failed to earn gold certification in the sales department. But the band remains a touring behemoth, having played 71 shows between June 2017 and June 2018, with an average gross of more than $1 million per stop.

METALLICA Donates $279,000 To Romanian Pediatric HospitalAccording to Reuters, METALLICA has donated 250,000 euros (approximately $279,000) to a Romanian association building the country's first pediatric oncology hospital.
The band made the donation to Daruieste Viata (Give Life) ahead of the its sold-out concert on Wednesday (August 14) at Arena Națională in Bucharest.
The donation was made through METALLICA's non-profit foundation All Within My Hands, which was established in 2017 as a means to invest in the people and places that have supported the band. It also provides a mechanism for METALLICA's fans to become engaged in philanthropy and volunteerism. The foundation is focused on supporting sustainable communities through workforce education (in addition to combatting hunger through an alliance with Feeding America), and is fully supported by the band, the AWMH board, and by fans. All expenses of the foundation are covered by the band, the board, and a few special friends, so that 100% of donations go to the organizations it supports. AWMH is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
In its first six months of operation, All Within My Hands donated more than $750,000 to local food banks around the world — a practice the band and the Foundation continued on METALLICA's recent North American and European tours. They've donated at least $10,000 to local food banks in every city and met dedicated people who focus their daily lives on helping others.
Back in May 2018, METALLICA drummer and co-founder Lars Ulrich visited the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank to give a helping hand alongside some dedicated and loyal METALLICA fans and hard-working volunteers.
Ulrich created a PSA for the food bank in partnership with All Within My Hands. He urged locals to offer a helping hand to those suffering from hunger. 10

SLIPKNOT Guitarist JIM ROOT Talks Being Fired From STONE SOUR - "COREY TAYLOR And I Are Much Closer Now"Speaking with Metal Hammer, Slipknot guitarist Jim Root opened up about being fired from Stone Sour in 2014, the band that also features Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor. It was an amicable parting of ways, but Taylor called it "a difficult" time when things went down.
Root: "Corey and I are much closer now. It’s the best thing, me leaving Stone Sour. We would have just ended up killing each other and driving each other crazy. I can’t spread myself that thin. I needed it, this band needed it and Stone Sour certainly needed it. I just didn’t have the time to commit that I’d have liked. I think they were tired of my shitty attitude, that’s for sure."

The release date is Friday, June 21, and it will be available at all major digital outlets and streaming services including YouTube, Spotify and Pandora.
“I Am Power” was written by guitarist Attila “Atti” Juhasz and features vocalist Nando Fernandes (Sinistra, Lightning Strikes) and drummer Bobby Jarzombek (Fates Warning, Sebastian Bach, Halford). “I Am Power” was mixed by Roy Z (Bruce Dickinson, Judas Priest) and was mastered by Maor Appelbaum at Maor Appelbaum Mastering in California.
“I Am Power” is an energetic musical assault with thought provoking lyrics and a strong uplifting metal-mantra chorus. “It’s a 5 minute all-out metal ass-kicker from start to finish, that’s also a feel-good song that rocks non-stop and hopefully leaves you energized, confident and positive,” says Juhasz.
No stranger to the world of music, Juhasz was the publisher and editor of the 1990s rag New York Onslaught and managed NYC hard rockers No More Johnny. He was a key operational member of Rob Halford’s Metal God Entertainment (2005-2012). AEROSMITH Is Continuing To Play Shows Without Drummer JOEY KRAMERFan-filmed video footage of AEROSMITH's August 18 concert at the Borgata Event Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey can be seen below.
The band has played the last few shows of the "Deuces Are Wild" tour without drummer Joey Kramer, who is still recovering after twisting his ankle during rehearsal. Filling in for him is Kramer's drum tech, John Douglas.
This is not the first time AEROSMITH has performed without Kramer. This past April, AEROSMITH played two shows in Las Vegas, Nevada without Joey after the drummer had a "minor accident" that resulted in a shoulder injury.
Back in August 2014, AEROSMITH canceled a California concert because Kramer was dealing with "heart complications" that required immediate surgery. The musician later revealed that he had an angioplasty, explaining that it was "just strictly a hereditary thing. There's a family history, and I was the victim. But no more."
Kramer missed a week's worth of AEROSMITH shows after his 2014 surgery — his son Jesse filled in on drums — before getting back to work.
"It wasn't my time," Kramer said at the time. "It wasn't time for my ticket to be punched. And so I got fixed, and I'm back 150 percent, and everything is as good as it can possibly be."
AEROSMITH is scheduled to play 17 more shows in Las Vegas before the end of the year — four in September, four in October, seven in November, and two in December. The band also has a multiple-night "Deuces Are Wild" engagement at an MGM property in Springfield, Massachusetts.
In 2017, AEROSMITH announced a run of dates called "Aero-Vederci Baby!", but stopped short of calling it a final tour.
AEROSMITH hasn't released a new studio album since 2012's "Music From Another Dimension!"

THREE DAYS GRACE Releases KENYA PROJECT VideoToday on World Humanitarian Day, THREE DAYS GRACE and World Vision Canada have released the video for the Kenya Project. The Kenya Project is a MTN Of Hope social justice initiative created by THREE DAYS GRACE. The project protects Kenyan children from violence and provides them with clean water to ensure they are both safe and healthy. On their 2018 Canadian fall tour, $1 from every ticket sale went towards this project.
In the fall of 2018, THREE DAYS GRACE bandmembers Neil Sanderson and Matt Walst visited the Mwatate and Taveta communities near Nairobi with World Vision Canada. In these communities, they were inspired by great programs that help protect victims of abuse, particularly those with disabilities. Matt and Neil saw the big differences being made by clean water projects, and how much work is still to be done. That is why THREE DAYS GRACE are committed to walk together with these children to not only save, but transform their lives for the better. THREE DAYS GRACE hope to empower their fans to join them so more children can be safe, healthy and have a chance to reach their full potential.
THREE DAYS GRACE drummer Neil Sanderson states: "We were inspired everywhere we went and by everyone we met because what we experienced isn't what we thought it would be. I learned that poverty is not hopelessness. Hope is around every corner; sometimes you just have to look for it.
"When you meet communities of families and children who mostly live off $2 a day, but greet you with the biggest smiles and are so full of hope and resilience, it makes you take stock of your life and how lucky we are to be born in Canada," he continues. "We were given every resource and freedom to create opportunities at making a career as a band. Now we have an opportunity to use our career to build awareness and invite our fans from all over the world to join us at creating change to people that can use a hand up."

ROB ZOMBIE Is 'Still Figuring Out' How To Release New Studio AlbumRob Zombie spoke to Revolver about his forthcoming studio album, which will arrive later this year via the iconic rocker's new record label, Nuclear Blast Records.
"The record is done, and now we're just figuring out how to release [it], and deal with [it] while still being on tour," Zombie explained. "With a record, even though MTV and all these old concepts are gone, you still need to make a shit-ton of video content, because that's how people get to the music. So it's just a matter of figuring out how to find time to do all that."
According to Rob, there are no plans for him to preview any songs from the disc on the "Twins Of Evil" tour with MARILYN MANSON. "Absolutely not," he said. "First of all, nobody wants to go to concerts and hear songs they don't know. Nobody — and if they say they do, they're full of shit! Second, if you do that, everybody films it and puts it on YouTube, and starts prejudging something they don't even know about. When we do put it out, we'll put it out perfectly: You'll have your record, your artwork, your videos and yada, yada, yada."
Asked if making an album still has the same meaning for him as it did 30 years ago, Rob said: "Um, yes and no. Artistically, creating the songs feels better than ever — like, it's more fun to make a record, and to get together with the guys in the band. The band I have now, we've all been together a long time — this is the longest I've ever worked with the same group of people in my life, and [guitarist] John 5 is the musician I've worked with longer than anyone, ever. I think we've been working together for, I don't know what it is, 14 years or something? So that part of it, creating music, is great. And when we play live, our new and our old songs blend together in a way that, if you didn't know any of our songs, you wouldn't know the difference, because our fans are so reactive. A newer song, like 'Well, Everybody's Fucking In A U.F.O.', will get as big of a reaction during our show as 'Dragula', and I dig that. But as far as releasing records, where it's this big deal, like, 'Oh my god, your billboard is in front of Tower Records, and you're gonna do an in-store, and 5,000 people are gonna show up!' —That sort of thing is gone. It does sort of seem like you're releasing it in a vacuum. But at the same time, you make these videos, they go on YouTube, and you go, 'Oh, look, 40 million views! I don't remember getting 40 million spins on MTV …'
"So, in some ways, more people are enjoying your music — you just don't feel it until you finally play a show. So it's all good. It's just different. I can't complain about the music business. When I hear people complain about it, I just want to jump out a window. It is what it is, and it's all good. [Laughs] It's always changing, man. And if you're gonna sit around and complain about the changes, the friggin' parade is going to pass you by.
Last year, John 5 compared ROB ZOMBIE's upcoming album to THE BEATLES' groundbreaking LP "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", saying that it is "by far the best Zombie record that he's ever done." He added: "A lot of people say, 'Oh, it's just our greatest record,' and I don't say that. Whatever I say is so honest when I'm doing interviews. So I think it's our best record."
2016's "The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser" was the second consecutive effort to feature Zombie and John 5 alongside bassist Piggy D. and drummer Ginger Fish.

Is ZOLTAN CHANEY Craziest Drummer In Rock And Roll?Drum-cam footage of VINCE NEIL and SLAUGHTER drummer Zoltan Chaney performing with the MÖTLEY CRÜE singer on July 11 at The Theater at MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland can be seen below (courtesy of QUEENSRŸCHE drummer Casey Grillo).
Chaney, who hails from southern Ohio, joined Neil's band in 2007, and has made a name for himself with a playing style that has been described as "a mix between Keith Moon and a Tasmanian Devil."
Asked how his drumming style has evolved over the years, Zoltan told TenMinuteInterviews.com: "No changes, really. Just get up and go for it and let the chocolates melt where they may. For me, it's all about your attitude and desire that you put behind your passion that impacts, influences, and inspires all witnesses. If it's genuine, then it's undeniable. What you show up for… will show up!"
Chaney also spoke about unique showmanship style, explaining: "I don't have much planned when I take the stage, and that, for me, is the beauty of playing music as the platform of expression it allows you share."
He added: "I love what I do. I love sharing my passion and gift with the band on stage and then the crowd getting inspired, so this is why I do this."

BRYAN BELLER Releases Video For New Single 'Volunteer State', Featuring JOE SATRIANIBryan Beller, bassist for THE ARISTOCRATS, Joe Satriani and DETHKLOK, has released a new single "Volunteer State", taken from his upcoming solo work, "Scenes From The Flood". "Volunteer State" features world-renowned virtuoso Satriani on guitar and Joe Travers (ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA, Joe Satriani, DURAN DURAN) on drums.
The hugely ambitious and unapologetically progressive double concept album "Scenes From The Flood" is scheduled for worldwide release on September 13, and available for pre-order now at BryanBeller.com.
"This is the first full song of the album, and this is essentially where the story begins," says Beller. "It's an optimistic road-trip song. It's filled with intention and desire for something positive, though as you get further into it, it does a bit of a twist on you."
Beller continues: "Once I wrote it, and heard the melody and felt the vibe, I felt strongly and deeply that Joe Satriani could bring something special to it, something uniquely his, that would give 'Volunteer State' the weight it needed to be the opening chapter of such a long and winding tale."
Not content with simply contributing the lead melody and solo, the guitar legend took two months to build a complete arrangement around Beller's song, including additional harmonies, acoustic guitars, a banjo, and several other sonic layers. "And Joe Travers is the perfect drummer for a heavy, straight-ahead rock groove like this," says Beller.
The accompanying live action dramatic video (shot, directed and edited by Jon Luini and Arthur Rosato) stars Beller himself and follows the musician as he packs up his old life and heads across the country into the unknown. Eagle-eyed fans will be able to spot several motifs and references to other parts of the album throughout the nearly six-minute running length.
As a bassist and composer, Beller (THE ARISTOCRATS, JOE SATRIANI, DETHKLOK, STEVE VAI) has never been accused of being insufficiently driven. But nothing he's done before can truly prepare audiences for "Scenes From The Flood".
A work so sweeping in scale that it took Beller nearly a decade to conceive, compose, and now fully realize, the album grapples with an existential question: When the storm comes for us, the big one after which things will not be the same, who are we and what do we become in those defining moments? What do we keep, and what do we let go? "Scenes From The Flood" explores themes of ambition and loss, intentionality and reality, hope and disillusionment, and uses every second of its 18-song, 88-minute running order to tell an emotionally consuming and unforgettable musical story.
Realizing Beller's vision meant enlisting 26 musicians spread across four continents to bring "Scenes From The Flood" to life. Special guests on guitar also include legends DREAM THEATER's John Petrucci (who lays down a screaming lead on the nine-minute story-climactic progressive epic "World Class"), Guthrie Govan (taking the lead on the album's closing ballad "Sweet Water"), and Mike Keneally (going from layered acoustics on one track to furious metal riffing on another), just four of fourteen total guitarists who appear on the album. Drummers include veterans Gene Hoglan (DETHKLOK, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, DEATH), Joe Travers (ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA, JOE SATRIANI), Ray Hearne (HAKEN) and Nate Morton (CHER, THE VOICE).
Presented in the classic format of four vinyl sides (or four "parts" on two CDs), "Scenes From The Flood" was inspired by hallowed progressive double-albums like PINK FLOYD's "The Wall" and YES's "Tales From Topographic Oceans", as well as more modern expanded works, such as NINE INCH NAILS' "The Fragile". The deluxe packaging (2CD 8-panel digipak + two 20-page double-CD booklets; 2LP gatefold + 24-page full-size booklet) reveals not just album artwork, but unique cover-style artwork for each of the eighteen songs, or "scenes". The resulting sense of story urgency and dramatic narrative presents like a soundtrack to a movie suspense thriller as much as it does a double album. A limited run of 200 colored (purple) vinyl will also be produced.
"Scenes From The Flood" is performed by Christopher Allis, Bryan Beller, Nili Brosh, Paul Cartwright, Darran Charles, Julian Coryell, Mike Dawes, Janet Feder, Guthrie Govan, Ray Hearne, Gene Hoglan, Mike Keneally, Jamie Kime, Fred Kron, Teddy Kumpel, Jake Howsam Lowe, Evan Mazunik, Nate Morton, Rick Musallam, Mike Olekshy, Griff Peters, John Petrucci, Matt Rohde, Joe Satriani, Rishabh Seen, Joe Travers and Leah Zeger.

LAST UNION Post "President Evil" Pro-Shot Live Video From AMARANTHE Support Show In MinskItalian prog metallers Last Union supported Amaranthe in Minsk, Belarus on March 10th at Re:public. Pro-shot video of the band perfoming "President Evil" from their debut album, Twelve, is available below.
Last Union released an official music video for "President Evil". Watch the clip below.
Twelve was mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren, best known for his work with Arch Enemy, Symphony X, Devin Townsend, Angra, and Opeth, to name a few. The album artwork was created by Thomas Ewerhard (Avantasia, Rage, Threshold).
The quiet city of Tolentino in the Marche region of Central Italy not only boasts a rich historical background, it is also the place progressive metal band Last Union calls home. Founded by vocalist Elisa Scarpeccio, guitarist Cristiano Tiberi and keyboardist Claudio Feliziani in 2007, the band - originally known as Blazing Ice - embarked on their journey in the pursuit of sharing their thoughts and feelings about life, and ultimately their art, with the world. With the assistance of professional session bassists and drummers, the trio established themselves on the Italian scene with a string of shows that helped them evolve and refine their craft. Over the course of 20 shows, Last Union presented songs that would eventually make the final cut for their debut album.
Strong and positive reactions to their music spurred Scarpeccio and Tiberi on to take the first of many bold steps. The first was to invite drummer Uli Kusch to join the fold, who expressed interest in joining the band as a full member rather than just a touring drummer after hearing the music. A similar scenario played out with Symphony X bassist Mike LePond and Last Union was officially born. The icing on the cake, however, was getting Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie to sing on three tracks.
Tracklisting:

ANTICOSM Streaming “Call Of The Void” VideoNew Jersey blackened thrashers Anticosm have released the official video for "Call Of The Void," a track from the band's album The Call Of The Void. The video was directed by Gabriel Francis at Backroom Studios.

SHAPED IN DREAMS Project Featuring Members Of BLACK CROWN INITIATE, OBSCURA, OBSCURITY Launch Album TeaserShaped In Dreams have released a video teaser for Echoes Of Eldren Deeds, their debut album, which will be released in November 2019. Shaped In Dreams, featuring members of Black Crown Initiate, Obscura, Obscurity, Alkaloid and more, will release their first single, “Fire Within”, on September 6th, backed by an animated video. The album teaser can be viewed below:
Born February 1993 in Slovakia, Martin showed an early interest in music starting with recorder at the age of 6, later switching to French horn. During his mid teenage years he developed an interest in alternative rock music listening to Nirvana and Alice In Chains which also led him to pick up the guitar. Shortly after that he started favoring heavier, more guitar oriented bands like Megadeth and Judas Priest, later Scandinavian melodeath pioneers In Flames and Dark Tranquillity as well as instrumental guitar music from Shrapnel Records artists. From day one he was experimenting with writing own music rather than learning songs of other artists.
This naturally progressed to a heavy interest in composition and music theory which, soon after, he was being taught formally at the conservatory in Bratislava where he also continued with his French horn studies. During these years he formed a melodic death metal band with friends. This helped him to further develop his songwriting skills in the metal genre and gain experiences with playing in a band situation, later he stepped in as a touring guitarist for a local symphonic black metal band. After graduating at the conservatory he went on to study French horn performance at Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden, Germany, where he attained his bachelor's degree in 2019 and got further accepted for master studies. During his second year in Dresden he won a scholarship which he used as a financial basis to start producing Shaped In Dreams' first release Echoes Of Eldren Deeds.
Line Up:
Martin Matiasovic - producer, rhythm, lead and acoustic guitar, French horn, field recordings, composing, arranging, editing
James Dorton - vocals, arranging (Black Crown Initiate, Replacire)
Linus Klausenitzer - fretless bass, editing, arranging (Obscura, Alkaloid, Noneuclid)
Marc Dzierzon - drums, arranging (Obscurity, Centaurus-A, ex-Almanac, ex-Dew Scented)
Matthias Preisinger - acoustic piano, string instruments (German composer, multi-instrumentalist, session musician)
Mikołaj Suchanek - electric piano, improvisations (jazz pianist)
Harmonia Nova - wind instruments (woodwind quintet)
Christina Rotondo - clean vocals (session vocalist)
Tom Fountainhead Geldschläger - mixing, mastering, arranging, editing, co-producing (ex-Obscura, Amogh Symphony, Pitts-Minnemann Project)
Echoes Of Eldren Deeds was recorded between February 2018 and June 2019 at the respective studios of the guest artists - Germany, Slovakia, USA, Great Britain and is scheduled to be released in November 2019 via Vmbrella.

ALGEBRA To Release Pulse? Album In September; Includes SEPULTURA CoverSwitzerland is renowned for, among other things, precision clockwork and the legendary technical thrash group Coroner. Falling somewhere on the continuum between those two is Algebra. After a 5 year absence, the band is back with Pulse?, their second full-length for Unspeakable Axe Records, and third overall. Pulse? features 11 brand new tracks, along with a blistering cover of Sepultura's "Dead Embryonic Cells."
The Coroner reference is hardly the sum total of Algebra's musical palette. Arguably, they bring more classic Bay Area influences as well as other, more obscure Eurothrash groups to bear. The ragged, death metal-skirting edge of thrash is represented here (think Slayer and Sepultura), as well as less brutal, more formally advanced acts (mid-period Testament and Metallica). Classy lead harmonies abound and bring interest to the longer tracks, some pushing well past the five minute mark. However, the band is also ready and willing to hit high velocity at a moment's notice, and use a Cavalera-esque bark to amp up the aggression.
With thoughtful lyrics about the problems inherent in modern society and the world today, Algebra is still nobody's idea of a trite, cookie-cutter retro-thrash group. Instead, they carry on with a classicist's notion of what the genre could have been, if other trends and short attention spans hadn't brought it up short.
Pulse? will be released September 30th, 2019 on CD and digital platforms.

TALES OF THE TOMB To Release Volume Two: Mendacium EP In September; “Nine Eleven” Single StreamingEvery town has stories to caution or warn, every police officer has a seen a crime that keeps them awake at night, and every coroner has seen death in ways that the rest of us could never imagine. Murder, conspiracy, supernatural horror, and real-life terror are stains on the cutting room floor where Edmonton-based group Tales Of The Tomb paints their canvas.
Tales of The Tomb will release their new EP Volume Two: Mendacium September 27th. Volume Two: Mendacium is a collection of narratives surrounding government cover-ups, national lies and the heinous crimes committed amongst the shadows. The album was mixed and mastered by Cryptopsy guitar player and Head Engineer/Owner at The Grid Studios Christian Donaldson. The EP also contains a bonus track about the Japanese horror film Mermaid in a Manhole and features artwork by Tony Midi of Tonymidi Artworks.
Unified by the desire to have the grotesque power of ‘90s era death and murder metal, Tales Of The Tomb started as a thought that grew into an insatiable need to make extreme music. Tales Of The Tomb was created in October 2013 from founder Corey Skerlak (Guitar, Vocals) out of inspiration from the original murder metal band Macabre.
Much of their inspiration is drawn from the hideous crimes and conspiracies of the world. Retelling stories of the dark hidden secrets and victims from such crimes. This was the inspiration for the name Tales Of The Tomb.
A sonic attack layered with grinding blast beats, injected with menacing guttural lows -- a sound straight from hell with gore-filled lyrics leaving little to the imagination, destroying your eardrums like a corpse is erased in an acid-filled bath.
Tracklisting:
“The Nightmare Hall”
“Faul”
“The Sinful Messiah”
“Dyatlov Pass Incident”
“Nine Eleven”
“Mermaid In A Manhole”
