DRESS THE DEAD, the band featuring ex-FORBIDDEN guitarist Craig Locicero and WITCH MOUNTAIN singer Kayla Dixon, has recruited guitarist Mike Rowan. He replaces original DRESS THE DEAD guitarist Dan Delay, who left the group in June.

Locicero stated about DRESS THE DEAD's latest addition: "Mikey is a very well-known guitarist here in the [San Francisco] Bay Area from his many years with his band INSOLENCE. He was a 16-year-old, fresh-faced kid who got the gig when INSOLENCE signed to Maverick Records back in 1999. They toured the U.S. and Japan pretty extensively.

"Literally within minutes after our announcement that Dan Delay had to step away from the band for his family, Mikey was suggested by a friend to me. In the same instance, Mikey wrote Mark a text asking about the gig. It was very odd and seemed too good to be true, but it made a lot of sense. It seemed like Mikey was already equipped with all the essentials we were looking for.

"It's difficult to compare Mikey to other guitarists I've personally played with. He's got more attitude and punk rock to his stye than most guys I know. He kinda brings a DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN type of energy into the mix and pushes me…. pushes all of us."

DRESS THE DEAD, whose lineup also includes Mark Hernandez on drums and James Walker on bass, is preparting to put together a recording studio to do pre-production and capture as many takes it can use on its upcoming release. The band is planning to tour the U.S. and Europe starting in the summer of 2020.

Dixon joined DRESS THE DEAD in January 2018 following the departure of former THE HAUNTED frontman Peter Dolving.

GHOST leader Tobias Forge has told Billboard in a new interview that he is already looking forward to entering the studio in January 2020 to start making the band's fifth album.

"There are a lot of things making [2018's] 'Prequelle' and all the other records I'm thinking about; some things I'm looking to perfect, and some things I'm looking not to repeat," he said. "Some things I think we just missed the mark on. And those are the ambitions I go into with every record and this time as well."

He added: "I don't want to rush. I want to go forward and achieve as many things as possible. I'm always thinking ahead. One day this will all be over, and I'll have plenty of time to sit and wonder what happened."

"Prequelle" debuted in June 2018 at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart. It has yielded the chart-topping "Rats" and "Dance Macabre", a well as the latest single "Faith".

Back in May, Forge spoke about his plans for the next GHOST studio LP with Revolver, saying, "I want to make a different record from 'Prequelle'. I want it to feel different... I definitely have a darker, heavier record in mind." He added that "Prequelle" turned out to be "a little ballad heavy."

Forge told Overdrive that fans will have to wait until 2021 before they get to experience "the next chapter of the GHOST story."

"In order to make that record, it's going to take me about six months and then that'll take me to the summer, which we've already decided we'll take a break a let the dust settle," he said. "Then hopefully by the end of the summer the record will be finished.

"Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you see it, the U.S. elections are happening, so bearing that in mind, it's not the best time to release new material when people's minds are focused on other things. I just want to make sure that when we release this new album, we have people's attention."

Forge told The Pulse Of Radio what he had learned about the songs on "Prequelle" from playing them live for much of the past year. "I've come to realize that the songs on the record are very diverse," he said. "Not that I didn't understand that before, but I've definitely felt it now, playing them. Definitely a lot of the 'Prequelle' material is varied, which I like. It fits very well into a live set that is very long."

GHOST's "Ultimate Tour Named Death" North American headline arena tour starts on September 13 in Bakersfield, California and will see an expanded theatrical production, a stage set resembling a medieval cathedral with a backdrop of illuminated stained-glass windows. In addition to costumes, special effects, and a light show tailor-made for arenas, the Cardinal, the Ghouls and the Ghoulettes will take advantage of series of multi-level platforms and walkways to prowl around on while performing some of GHOST's fan-favorite songs from the band's albums and EPs catalogs.

Guitarist Robert Vigna of veteran New York death metallers IMMOLATION says that the band is continuing work on the follow-up to 2017's "Atonement". The band's tenth studio album was the first to feature former INCANTATION guitarist Alex Bouks.

"We're working on it now," Vigna told Australia's Heavy magazine (hear audio below). "We definitely have a bunch of stuff written. We try and keep a schedule, and then things get pushed back. So it's just the way it goes. But we're working on the music. We're hoping to have it recorded probably very early next year and get it out sometime in the spring of next year. So we're pretty much trying to stay in the target we initially set. But we have a lot of touring now, and from this point on, we're pretty much on the road until the first week of December, on and off. So it's a lot of touring. But that's okay… We really wanted to get out there and kind of get ourselves out and about and then work on the new music at the same time."

"Atonement" was recorded at Millbrook Sound Studios in Millbrook, New York with longtime producer Paul Orofino, and was mixed and mastered once again by Zack Ohren (ALL SHALL PERISH, DECREPIT BIRTH, SUFFOCATION).

Bassist/vocalist Ross Dolan recently described the musical direction of IMMOLATION's new material as "dark" and "more sinister" with "a real creepy kind of vibe."

KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons, who was born in Israel but actually has Hungarian origins, talked to Hungarian daily Magyar Nemzet about the band’s End Of The Road farewell tour, where they'll also say goodbye to their Hungarian fans.

Hungary Today has translated a portion of the interview.

In the interview with Magyar Nemzet, Simmons talked about his Hungarian roots: "When I was little, I knew a lot of Hungarian songs. My mother used to sing Hungarian songs to me every day. One of my favorites was one that starts with Van nekem az égen egy kis csillagom (I have a little star in the sky)..."

He added that sometimes he comes on business tours to Hungary and he always feels like he is back home, and usually tries to speak as much Hungarian as he can. He added that he also loves Hungarian cuisine, such as pancakes, goulash soup - and he used to eat pancakes almost every day at home in his youth. Simmons said that the country should be respected as, "Hungary was the only state in the communist bloc that rebelled against the Russians in 1956."

Simmons, who is a native Hungarian speaker and did the interview in Hungarian, promised that KISS will definitely say goodbye to their Hungarian fans on their three-year-long tour - and after performing three times in Hungary, the band will visit the country again for the last time during its End Of The Road World Tour.

"Lightning", the new video from KXM, the band featuring bassist/vocalist Doug "dUg" Pinnick (KING'S X), guitarist George Lynch (LYNCH MOB, DOKKEN) and drummer Ray Luzier (KORN), can be seen below. The song is taken from KXM's upcoming third album, "Circle Of Dolls", which will be released on September 13 via Rat Pak Records in the U.S. and Frontiers Music Srl in Europe. The disc was recorded at Steakhouse Studio in North Hollywood, California with co-producer/engineer Chris Collier, who also helmed the group's first two releases.

"Circle Of Dolls" is currently available for pre-order via the Rat Pak web site in various bundle configurations, including turquoise-and-black splatter vinyl, cassette and hand-autographed CD packages.

Luzier comments: "There's a certain energy that happens in the studio very quickly when George, Doug and I get together and jam. This is our third record and it was recorded with the same formula as the first two albums — no pre-written ideas; we just come up with totally fresh grooves and riffs and not overthink anything. We definitely didn't repeat ourselves, but you know for sure who it is when you hear it. All three records have their own unique character."

Lynch explains: "It's better than the first two albums. It's insane. The magic is there, the chemistry's there and we're just sitting here patting ourselves on the back, telling each other what geniuses we are."

Pinnick adds: "I hope everyone enjoys listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it."

From the infectious riff of the album opener "War Of Words" to the album finale of "The Border", KXM has yet again created something truly special and musically diverse. Songs like "Lightning", "Big As The Sun" and "Cold Sweats" are sonically different from each other taking the listener on a musical journey. New York hardcore legends AGNOSTIC FRONT have completed work on their new album "Get Loud!" for a fall release via Nuclear Blast.

AGNOSTIC FRONT will embark on a North American tour this September celebrating the 35th anniversary of "Victim In Pain". The 17-date trek will kick off in St. Louis on September 18 and will feature PRONG as direct support.

"[Mind Over Mind]", the new music video from Atlanta, Georgia's NORMA JEAN, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's eighth studio album, "All Hail", which will be released on October 25 via Solid State Records. The disc was recorded earlier this year with producer Will Putney (EVERY TIME I DIE, BODY COUNT) at his Graphic Nature Audio studio in Belleville, New Jersey.

Vocalist Cory Brandan said about "[Mind Over Mind]": "I don't believe humans naturally live in a state of constant conflict. I think it's perpetuated. Feel free to dive in further if you want. After that, it's a heavy rock riff with tons of fuzz!"

The follow-up to 2016's "Polar Similar" marks the final NORMA JEAN album to feature guitarist Jeff Hickey, who exited the band in May. At the time, NORMA JEAN said the decision to part ways with Hickey was due to his struggles with "alcohol addiction." The other members of the group added that they "need to be his brothers before his bandmates" and they "continue to support Jeff in every effort toward sobriety and his personal health."

Recorded at Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, "Polar Similar" was released in September 2016 — just three days shy of the 10th anniversary of NORMA JEAN's 2006 epic "Redeemer".

UNDERØATH's new music video for the song "Wake Me" can be seen below. The track is taken from the recently released deluxe edition of the band's latest album, "Erase Me", out now via Fearless Records. The deluxe version features the original album and includes the additional tracks "Loneliness" and "Another Life", acoustic versions of "Wake Me" and UNDERØATH's cover of NIRVANA's "Heart Shaped Box", and a 3TEETH remix of the Grammy-nominated track "On My Teeth".

UNDERØATH guitarist Tim McTague told Heavy Music Headquarters that singer Spencer Chamberlain wrote "Wake Me" and "Rapture" with an outside writer, Johnny Andrews, for a completely different project when he thought the band was never getting back together. "When we went into the studio, we had a pretty polygamist-based relationship where everyone threw anything they had been working on on the side into the pot," Tim said. "These two songs stuck out and we really took them to a different level and worked with what Spencer and Johnny created to make them a part of the new album."

UNDERØATH's sixth studio album — and its first since 2010 — "Erase Me", was released in April 2018. The disc was written and recorded over the summer of 2017 with producer Matt Squire (PANIC! AT THE DISCO, 3OH!3) and mixed by Ken Andrews (FAILURE, JIMMY EAT WORLD).

NWOBHM pioneers DIAMOND HEAD have released a lyric video for the song "The Sleeper". The track is taken from the band's latest album, "The Coffin Train", which was released in May via Silver Lining Music.

The disc's fourth single, "The Sleeper" is epic, commencing with calm and sober vocals that build into a poignant and powerful riff and chorus that takes the listener on a dark, reflective journey.

Vocalist Rasmus Bom Andersen comments: "It's such a big-sounding track that it almost takes you on a cinematic journey. 'The Sleeper' is a follow-up to 'Silence' off the last record. We had fans who loved the orchestral elements and I wanted to give them some more. It was inspired by a favorite sci-fi movie from my childhood."

Adds guitarist Brian Tatler: "Starting life in 2016 with the main riff, I decided to demo it and see if I could make it into a song. With a bit of work this grew into a powerful monster with Ras's lyrics inspired by the 1984 film 'Dune'. It's very moody and dynamic with brilliant orchestration."

"The Coffin Train" was recorded at Vigo Studios in Walsall, Circle Studios in Birmingham and Raw Sound Studio in London, and is the second DIAMOND HEAD album to feature Rasmus Bom Andersen, who joined the band in 2014.

"Rasmus is a big part of why the album, and band, sound like we do," said Tatler. "He has a fantastic vocal range, knows exactly what to do with his voice and is incredibly knowledgeable about it.

"All along, we wanted to make sure we didn't lose sight of what we call 'The Brief.' I would never want to deny our NWOBHM style and sound; that's what originally got me excited and DIAMOND HEAD noticed. And I still enjoy the creative journey we go on."

Formed in 1976 under the riff-rolling leadership of guitarist Brian Tatler, DIAMOND HEAD would quickly establish themselves as a vanguard of the exploding New Wave Of British Heavy Metal scene. Releasing their album Restless Dreams during October of last year via Rockshots Records, Canada's horror influenced symphonic power metallers Malacoda are sharing with fans their new lyric video for their track “Wrapped In Laments”. 

Vocalist Lucas Di Mascio explains the track: 

"Full of melancholic lead melodies over a frantic, almost djent sounding guitar riff, topped off with a dissonant drawn-out scream, the song sounds eerie, angry and sad all at once. It was inspired by the "Lying Figure" monsters from the Silent Hill 2 video game. They are female creatures that are trapped in a strait jacket of their own skin. They have holes in their chest where their hearts should be and they spew acid if the main character gets too close. They are beautifully haunting and evoke pity and disgust. They represent how the main character's wife felt while dying of melanoma, she felt she was a monster- too hideous to love and trapped in her own skin. I always took the acid-spewing from the chest as symbolic to how she was very verbally abusive to the main character in her final days and said things that while hurtful, came from the heart. The chorus brings up the words "lie about" as a common phrase, and it's both referencing how the main character would lie to her about his infidelity, but also how she felt all she could do was physically lie in a bed and waste away."

Following on from the release of the Ritualis Aeterna EP, Malacoda will be releasing the new full length album Restless Dreams. The album delivers a full musical experience inspired by the horror video game Silent Hill 2. Malacoda first introduced their fans to the Silent Hill 2 storyline with the track "I Got A Letter", which featured on the band's sophomore release Ritualis Aeterna (Rockshots Records, 2017).

Restless Dreams is a musical journey through dark, tormented themes of doubt, loss, guilt and terror. The plot of the album follows a broken man’s journey through the ghost town of Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his dead wife asking him to meet her there. Malacoda brings a fresh interpretation of the themes within the ground-breaking video game classic Silent Hill 2.

Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. Block Buster are an up and coming band from the Finnish hard rock scene and one of the newest signings to Frontiers’ New Breed roster. According to several posts on various social media platforms, former MACHINE HEAD and current VIO-LENCE guitarist Phil Demmel is working on a new project with drummer Mike Portnoy (SONS OF APOLLO, ex-DREAM THEATER), vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth (OVERKILL) and bassist Mark Menghi (METAL ALLEGIANCE).

On July 21, Portnoy posted a picture of the quartet with the caption, "Look who stopped by Camp Portnoy for a day or two... hmmm, wonder what we're up to?"

Demmel re-posted the same picture the following day, adding a comment of his own. "Somethin's cookin' and it's NOT what you think," he wrote.

On August 5, Demmel then posted a picture of his guitar with a caption saying, "10 songs tracked all rhythms last Friday on this BadAss." He added that a "soon to be announced project with Portnoy/Blitz/Menghi" would be "coming soon."

Another recent post by Demmel noted that he was tracking guitars with producer Juan Urteaga (TESTAMENT, CATTLE DECAPITATION) at Trident Studios in Pacheco, California. The pair previously collaborated on the MACHINE HEAD albums "Unto The Locust" and "Bloodstone & Diamonds".

Demmel, Portnoy, Ellsworth and Menghi have previously performed together in METAL ALLEGIANCE, the all-star collective that is anchored by Menghi, Portnoy, MEGADETH's David Ellefson and TESTAMENT's Alex Skolnick. In addition to their semi-frequent live appearances with the group, Demmel played on three tracks on METAL ALLEGIANCE's 2015 self-titled debut, while Ellsworth contributed vocals to one song on the project's 2018 sophomore effort, "Volume II: Power Drunk Majesty".

Breakout Ohio-based hard rock band, Beartooth, have shared a live performance video for single "You Never Know", captured at the Rock Am Ring music festival in Germany earlier this summer.

The audio from the live performance of "You Never Know" was taken from the band's electrifying and pyrotechnics-enhanced set at Rock Am Ring in front of over 70,000+ music fans from across Europe - one of the largest crowds to date during this annual outing.

Beartooth performed at packed concert dates in Germany during their headline tour earlier this year and returned to Nuremberg, Germany for the Rock Am Ring festival, further cementing their status as a rising and dominant force in hard rock music. This performance of "You Never Know" highlights the band's progression, as they were able to elevate production through pyrotechnics and delivered an unforgettable spectacle for fans both new and old.

The original version of the song lives on the band's latest album Disease, out now via Red Bull Records.

Arizona death metal band, Gatecreeper, return with their new album, Deserted, out on October 4 via Relapse Records. Listen to the first single, “Boiled Over”, below and via all streaming services here.

"The first song from Deserted we chose to share with the world is 'Boiled Over'. With this song, we tried to capture the melodic side of Bolt Thrower mixed with the crushing heaviness and groove of bands like Obituary or Crowbar. Deserted’s hallucinatory cover art was created by Brad Moore.

Myrath's heritage and willingness to infuse their influences with the historic music of their homeland is what sets them apart. The sounds of Tunisia are that of Arabic and Asian folk music, which can be readily heard in the rhythms, segues, and choruses of Myrath's compositions.

Shehili is innovative, yet loyal to the band's signature sound. It establishes contrasts between uplifting melodies and thoughtful, and, at times, heartbreaking lyrics. The best example of this duality can be found in Shehili's first single "Dance," the video of which was a sequel to "Believer." The "Dance" video tallied more than a million views in the first five weeks of release.

As singer Zaher Zorgati says, "The purpose of our music is to induce happiness and joy, to pay tribute to those who refuse to fall or to stop hoping, even in a world filled with hatred and uncertainty."

Shehili, although produced with extreme care, keeps a very natural and organic flavor. The recordings took place in Hamburg, Germany, Tunisia, and France to make sure every single note found its way into the mix. Shehili was mixed by three different producers, including Kevin Codfert, Eike Freese, and the world-famous Jens Bogren (who already worked on Legacy), in order to give each song the best possible treatment and make it shine.

"Only Dark Hearts Survive", the title track of Imagika's upcoming new album, is available for streaming below.

After 10 years Imagika is back. The most successful lineup of the band with guitarist Steven D. Rice (Kill Ritual), vocalist Norman Skinner (Skinner, Niviane, Hellscream), bassist Jim Pegram (Mudface, Angerhead) and guest drummer Matt Thompson (King Diamond) have recorded a blistering new album that is a modern take on where the band left off in 2009. Their new 8-track effort, mixed and mastered by Andy La Rocque at Sonic Train Studios, is a testament to the bands overlooked talent and is scheduled to be released on September 13 via Dissonance Productions.

Imagika guitarist Steven D. Rice comments on the rebirth of the band: "While on the Kill Ritual tour  (with Iced Earth and Sanctuary) we made a stop in Sacramento, CA. which is not far from the SF Bay Area and where all the past members live, so Jim and Norm made it out for the show. Jim played with Kill Ritual that night (as he did on the European tour the year before) and Norm caught the performance. I hadn’t seen Norm in years so we drank a few (ok a lot!), bullshitted, caught up on life and had a nice reconnect. Fast forward a few months later. As I was writing the new Kill Ritual record I would have material hanging around that didn’t quite fit the KR style or direction and that with some older ideas from the past I said to myself 'Wow this really has an Imagika direction to the material', so I ran a couple ideas past Norm and he gave it his spin and before we knew it we had an album composed and ready to go. After bringing in Jim, who’s been pushing for this for years in on bass along with a guest appearance by Matt Thompson (King Diamond) to play drums it sounded great. I’m a firm believer in always moving forward and never looking back, but I’ll have to eat my words on the “Never Again” and just say it was meant to be! The new songs are definitely Imagika in 2019 with tight riffs, concise arrangements; hook laden vocals and great grooves! I think our old and hopefully new fans will absolutely love this CD. We can’t wait for you all to hear it!"

Florida-based power metal band, Seven Kingdoms, have dropped a new video for their cover of "Barracuda" by Heart. This song and video were shot and recorded during the recording sessions for their upcoming release, Empty Eyes. Watch below.

Empty Eyes follows up the successfully crowdfunded In The Walls EP and full length album, Decennium, and will feature four new original songs and the cover of "Barracuda". Empty Eyes will be released Independently by the band via crowdfunding. The campaign for Empty Eyes will start on August 13 and run until September 13 on Kickstarter.com. Empty Eyes will be released worldwide on October 22.

Ceremony are streaming the new song "Presaging The End", from their new album, In the Spirit World Now, due via Relapse August 23. Listen below.

In The Spirit World Now marks a milestone for the legendary Californian punk outfit who have stayed true to themselves as songwriters throughout massive sonic growth throughout their long, storied career. It's a collection of their most driving, intelligent songs to date and sees Ceremony take another step into a space they can truly call their own, as one of punk's most unique and forward-thinking bands.

Produced by Will Yip (Title Fight, Circa Survive, Turnover) and mixed by engineer Ben Greenberg (The Men, Pharmakon, Hank Wood And The Hammerheads), In The Spirit World Now grows with each listen, balancing Yip's pop sensibilities with Greenberg's noise-punk influence through dramatic, shining synthesizer hooks and a mature vocal strategy. Drummer Jake Casarotti and bassist Justin Davis power through the 11-tracks as a strong yet sparse backbone that interlocks with guitarists Andy Nelson and Anzaldo to create a pop-centric, post-punk canvas for frontman Ross Farrar to expel the most vulnerable parts of himself.

In The Spirit World Now sees Ceremony at the height of their creative output, as the always-evolving Rohnert Park quintet take various influences from post punk and rock to create one of the summer's most compelling and infectious records. Pre-order the album here.

The band recently announced a US tour this September in support of their impending new album. The tour kicks off in LA and SF with two record release shows with Pissed Jeans and Marissa Nadler. Choir Boy and Glitterer join them on the rest of their journey which includes dates in NYC, Chicago, Austin and more.

New Jersey six-piece, Fit For An Autopsy, will release their fifth studio album, The Sea Of Tragic Beasts, on October 25 via Nuclear Blast Records worldwide and Human Warfare (Aus).

The band offers some insight into their new song "Mirrors" in this new video:

Producer, guitarist, principal songwriter and cofounder Will Putney comments, "You carry things with you, for better or worse. 'Mirrors' illustrates the darker side of this idea. It’s also a testament to how the decisions you make can have a resonating effect on the ones around you. Clearly this song was born out of a personal struggle, but in end it’s a reflection on the greater human condition of love and dependency; not being able to release yourself from the darkness around you. Our new record dives head-on into some difficult topics, 'Mirrors' is the the tip of the iceberg."

The Sea Of Tragic Beasts was once again produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by the producer/guitarist Will Putney at Graphic Nature Audio in NJ.The artwork for the album was created by Adam Burke.

The band also announced they will hit the road this fall to support the release of The Sea Of Tragic Beasts. The 26-date US tour will kick-off on October 24 in Brooklyn and will make stops in Atlanta, Austin and Los Angeles before concluding in Rochester on November 23.

The 31st edition of the Wacken Open Air, which will take place from the 30th of July until the 1st of August 2020, is sold out after less than a day; in 21 hours to be precise. The advance sale of the 75,000 tickets traditionally started after the festival at midnight on Monday, August 5th. Fans from 83 countries have purchased tickets. 

"We are stoked that tickets for the Wacken Open Air 2020 have again sold out in a sensationally short period of time", comments festival founder Thomas Jensen. "The great success of this year's anniversary edition and our announcement of the first bands for next year have obviously convinced our fans that they can rely on us for which we are extremely thankful. Well, it also might be that the reason for this humbling vote of confidence is that metal god Rob Halford will celebrate 50 years of Judas Priest in Wacken."

"It is our declared goal to create an even greater festival every new year," adds festival founder Holger Hübner. "We can only thank our fans wholeheartedly for relying on our experience to put together another exciting band billing. Of course, metal music always comes first, but also the supporting program will again offer innovations. We will make every effort to live up to the advance praise of this quick sell-out."

The Promoters point out that no third-party tickets should be purchased - with the exception of the official travel partners listed at this location.

The Wacken Open Air has already announced the following bands for the coming 31st edition of the festival in 2020: Judas Priest, Amon Amarth, Mercyful Fate, At The Gates, Venom, Hypocrisy, Sodom, Death Angel, Sick Of It All, Beast In Black, Nervosa, Cemican.
