VITRIOL Streaming New Single "Crowned In Retaliation"

VITRIOL Streaming New Single "Crowned In Retaliation"

On September 6, Century Media Records will release To Bathe From The Throat Of Cowardice, the first album by Portland, Oregon’s death metal group, Vitriol.

With "Crowned In Retaliation", Vitriol now release the first single from the album. Kyle Rasmussen comments: "Endeavouring to create dynamic songwriting while never sacrificing relentlessness - both in terms of pace and tone - is one of Vitriol's creative north stars. I feel that we accomplished that in a special way with 'Crowned In Retaliation'. It does a very good job of showing you the face of To Bathe From The Throat Of Cowardice."

Fronted by the dual vocal assault given from guitarist Kyle Rasmussen and bassist Adam Roethlisberger, driven by the inhuman drummer Scott Walker, Vitriol proved to make a successful strike at the genre's heart with their 2017 EP, Pain Will Define Their Death. Released via Italy's Everlasting Spew, it already provided a shockingly intense glimpse at the whirlwind that is to be unfurled on the much anticipated debut record, To Bathe From The Throat Of Cowardice.

Featuring classy artwork by Joe Petagno (Motörhead, Krisiun, Angelcorpse), the album offers 44 minutes of utmost sincere and vicious music embodying a radicalness and personality rarely heard within the genre.

Rasmussen states: "The spirit of Vitriol is to take the uncompromising, thrashy, punky, spirit of the late 90s extreme death and bring it to a world that has been numbed by records that have abandoned all life in favor of shrink wrapped, candy coated articulation."

Tracklisting:

"The Parting Of A Neck"
"Crowned In Retaliation"
"Legacy Of Contempt"
"I Drown Nightly"
"The Rope Calls You Brother"
"A Gentle Gift"
"Violence, A Worthy Truth"
"Victim"
"Hive Lungs"
"Pain Will Define Their Death"

"Victim" video:

Shortly after the album’s release, Vitriol will join Nile’s A Vile Desolate Sands Tour 2019 kicking off September 10.

Vitriol comments: “We have the true honor to be entering Europe for the first time with the kings in Nile and Hate Eternal. The weight of this opportunity is not lost on us, and it is one we will approach with respect and sincere devotion.”

FINSTERFORST Debut "Zerfall" Music Video

FINSTERFORST Debut "Zerfall" Music Video

Their fifth studio album, Zerfall, sees Black Forest metal act, Finsterforst, return to the serious and elegiac soundscapes of classics such as the critically acclaimed Mach Dich Frei (2015). Set for release on August 2 via Napalm Records, the album can be pre-ordered here.  A music video for the track "Zerfall" can be found below.

The Germans' emotional brand of post black metal gives vent to endless rage with pounding riffs and astonishing orchestral elements - and then flows into somber choirs. The centrepiece and culmination of it all has to be the 36-minute long "Ecce Homo" though, that unfolds into a majestic post metal journey crowning Finsterforst's songwriting skills and career to date.  A complex and mature piece of art that will without any doubt mesmerize old and new fans alike.

WALKWAYS Share Music Video For "Care (In This Together)"

WALKWAYS Share Music Video For "Care (In This Together)"

Israeli alternative metallers, Walkways, have released a video for "Care (In This Together)", a track from their new album, Bleed Out, Heal Out, available via via Nuclear Blast. Watch the clip below.

The album journeys through six chapters.

It begins with a heart break and a deep disappointment, goes into a struggle with the urge to avenge and let a darker side take over, from there comes the chapter of release and unchaining from the burden of trauma. Then comes the step of letting someone new in to your life, the stage of loving again. Following that is a contemplation of the outside world - being horrified by our ways as human beings (wars, environmental pollution and animal abuse) and a strong desire to correct and evolve as one and a shout out to change as a whole.

To end the album, there is a recurring chapter of convergence due to the shock from the outside world, which is again flooded with great disappointment and a kind of despair from the current situation, but the deep desire to correct and transcend the internal and external chaos is always preserved.

Tracklisting:

"Till The End"
"Hell Born Shove (Impossible)"
"Despair (For Heaven's Sake)"
"Half The Man I Am"
"Trumpet Call"

"Bleed Out, Heal Out!"
"You Found Me"

"Humane Beings"

IMPERIUM DEKADENZ Premier "Frozen In Time" Lyric Video

IMPERIUM DEKADENZ Premier "Frozen In Time" Lyric Video

Germany's Imperium Dekadenz will release their sixth full-length album, When We Are Forgotten, on August 30 via Napalm Records. A lyric video for the track "Frozen In Time" can be found below.

Where most of us might think that everything has been said and done in a genre, Imperium Dekadenz boldly seek new horizons: The highly atmospheric and emotionally dense soundscapes of the band shun a simplistic tag like “melodic black metal” and have done so for ages - as Horaz and Vespasian seize the moment with When We Are Forgotten and delve deep into a complex cosmos made of anger, loneliness, melancholy and pure destruction. Their upcoming record not only convinces with a dynamic, energetic and organic production and sounds by no means polished, but is the same rough and dark as their home, the Black Forest, itself. In contradiction to the album's title: This is unforgettable!

The album was recorded at Iguana Studios and the band's ID-Studios. The songs were mixed and mastered by Christoph Brandes.

The album will be available in digital, digipak, and LP formats, along with additional bundle options and a limited-edition boxset. Pre-order here.

The album artwork was designed in cooperation with Alejandro Tedin at Heresie Graphics.

Tracklisting:

"When We Are Forgotten"
"Bis Ich Bin"
"My Solace I (Choirs Of Solitude)"
"Trauma"
"A Cave Called Wisdom"
"Transcendence"
"Seance"
"Absenz Elysium"
"My Solace II (Paths Of Perception)"
"Reverie"
"Frozen In Time"
"Behold The Flames Of Time" (only available on special CD in boxset)
"Owl Of The Black Forest" (only available on special CD in boxset)

Toby Jepson's WAYWARD SONS Reveal New Album Details; "Joke's On You" Music Video Streaming

Toby Jepson's WAYWARD SONS Reveal New Album Details; "Joke's On You" Music Video Streaming

Wayward Sons return with a new album, The Truth Ain’t What It Used To Be, out on October 11 via Frontiers Music Srl. The album will be released on CD, vinyl and digitally and pre-order links are available here.

There will also be a limited orange vinyl available from the band’s store and the label’s US and EU stores, here.

The new album could be called a concept record, as there is a narrative thread that connects the twelve tracks, but singer/guitarist and songwriter Toby Jepson, prefers to call it a 'protest' record and describes the new materials as 'political' but not of the sort that seeks to hammer the message home, more of a reflection of his take on where the world and we are. Jepson admires and draws influence from storytellers like Elvis Costello, David Bowie and Queen - artists who could pass on their message through their storytelling craft.

A short film will run alongside the album, with four video tracks standing alone and also being able to run together as a whole. The film traces the narrative of the album. The first video is for the track “Joke’s On You” and can be viewed below.

Wayward Sons is a UK guitar act made up of Toby Jepson (Vocals/Guitar), Sam Wood (Guitar), Nic Wastell (Bass), Dave Kemp (Keys) and Phil Martini (Drums). They have an impressive resume of groups they have previously worked with - Little Angels, Gun, Spear Of Destiny, Treason Kings and Chrome Molly to name a few - which is reassuring in terms of the band as players, but doesn’t really hint at their sound. Wayward Sons sound nothing like the sum of their parts. The music is hard rock, but mixed with a vitality and energy - both musically and lyrically.

Frontman Toby Jepson was, of course, the singer and songwriter in British rock act Little Angels, who enjoyed great success at home and abroad and achieved a UK number one album with their third release Jam.

Tracklisting:

"Any Other Way"
"Black As Sin"
"Joke's On You"
"Little White Lies"
"Feel Good Hit"
"Fade Away"
"Have It Your Own Way"
"Long Line Of Pretenders"
"If Only God Was Real"
"The Truth Aint What It Used To Be"
"Punchline"
"Us Against The World"

"Joke's On You" video:

Wayward Sons are a stunning live act. Their debut album saw them supporting the likes of Inglorious, UFO and Steel Panther as well as a host of festival appearances. The band have already an impressive list of supports (Living Colour and Black Star Riders) across Europe as well as a number of high-profile European festival dates set for this year. The list of 2019 dates confirmed so far can be found here.

METALLICA's KIRK HAMMETT Composes Second Classical Piece

METALLICA's KIRK HAMMETT Composes Second Classical Piece

According to The Pulse Of Radio, METALLICA lead guitarist Kirk Hammett has just finished composing his second classical music piece in conjunction with his wife Lani. Hammett revealed the news at Toronto's Royal Ontario Museum on Tuesday (July 24), as part of an event launching "It's Alive! Classic Horror and Sci-Fi Art From The Kirk Hammett Collection", an exhibition of horror memorabilia from Hammett's vast personal collection.

The music the couple wrote is meant to convey the feelings one gets from the posters in the exhibition — among them classic posters for films like "Dracula", "Frankenstein", "Barbarella", "Bride Of Frankenstein", "Creature From The Black Lagoon", "Invasion Of The Saucer-Men", "King Kong" and "Abbott And Costello Meet Frankenstein".

Hammett said about "The Jinn", which is the name of the new piece: "It will come to the museum in a bit, at some point... The title 'The Jinn' will hopefully set the mood for how you experience music because it tells a story of the jinn [a Middle Eastern term for genie]."

Hammett's first classical piece, "Maiden & The Monster", was composed for his inaugural "It's Alive!" exhibit in 2017 at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts.

Hammett explained: "I'm getting more and more into classical music, classical composers, and a lot of classical composers take on the horror genre." He added: "I want to start orchestrating music, and telling musical stories through music, in much the same way as a lot of these classical guys did in the 19th century, 20th century."

Hammett told The Pulse Of Radio a while back why he has shared his collection in recent years at festivals, his own convention and in a 2012 book. "There's a certain part of being a collector, you know, that's based on selfishness," he said. "You know, you're buying stuff for yourself. You're collecting stuff for yourself. You know, I've always been aware of this, you know, selfish aspect of collecting, and after a while, it came to a point where I just decided to start being generous. I wanted to share my collection with people who are into this sort of thing."

Hammett released a coffee table book in 2012 called "Too Much Horror Business" that featured photos of his extensive collection of monster and horror memorabilia.

He displayed a portion of his collection in the "Kirk's Crypt" exhibition during the 2012 and 2013 Orion Music + More festivals.

The METALLICA guitarist is also known as the Fear FestEvil horror convention organizer.

Exclusive: SKOLD Releases Controversial New Video “Small World”

Exclusive: SKOLD Releases Controversial New Video “Small World”

After releasing his newest studio album Never Is Now earlier this year, his first with powerhouse indie label Cleopatra Records, former Marilyn Manson and KMFDM member Tim Sköld continues to stir the pot with a compelling new concept video for the album’s most popular track “Small World”, premiered through BraveWords! With its pulsating rhythm and massive guitar sound, the track on its own is gripping enough, but when paired with the visual talents of Industrialism Films, the two-brother filmmaking team Vicente and Fernando Cordero behind videos by Queensrÿche, 3TEETH, and Tom Keifer, the combination is downright riveting. Shot in the California desert, the video uses images of violence and coercion to comment on the relationship between mega corporations and the population they “serve.” Giving away the details here would spoil the fun so just check out the clip below:

Be sure to catch Skold on tour right now. VIP tickets are still available here.

Tracklisting:

“Never Is Now”
“Small World”
“Pharmaceuticals”
“Roses”
“Please Remain Calm”
“Ravenous”
“In Another Life”
“This Is The End”
“Idle Hands”
“Temple Of Rage”
“Be Brave”
“American Bluff”
“This Is What You Get”
“Insatiable”

ALL ELSE FAILS Release "Thrice Broken" Music Video

ALL ELSE FAILS Release "Thrice Broken" Music Video

Canadian metallers, All Else Fails, have released a video for the single "Thrice Broken", from their 2018 release The False Sanctuary. The video was recorded in 2018, internationally with vocalist/guitarist Barrett Klesko in Joshua Tree, USA and guitarist Mike Sands in Örebro, Sweden.

Klesko has the following to say about the single, which is slower than what is typically expected from AEF: “It's analogous to where the band was in regards to our lineup over the past couple of years, all of us growing further apart due to new interests, but still having passion for the project. This is the last piece of music that Mike and I collaborated on, and I'm super proud of it. It's totally a different approach for us (a ballad style remake of a previous song), and an awesome way to close off this chapter of AEF as we dive into the new one.”

The False Sanctuary is available on Bandcamp (pay what you want for a limited time), along with stream and download on Spotify, iTunes, and all major online retailers.

Hear New BAD WOLVES Song 'I'll Be There'

Hear New BAD WOLVES Song 'I'll Be There'

"I'll Be There", a brand new song from BAD WOLVES, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's upcoming sophomore album, which will be released in the fall via Eleven Seven Music.

BAD WOLVES singer Tommy Vext recently told HardDrive Radio about the making of the band's new disc: "Gutars and bass were tracked in [Las] Vegas with Max Karon, who is one of John's [Boecklin, drums] oldest friends, who also works for GHOST. And then we did production and vocals in L.A., at Sparrow Sound studio, with Joseph McQueen, who, his partner is Josh Gilbert from AS I LAY DYING. He did all the vocals on the first BAD WOLVES record. And then John flew to Nashville and did drums with Mark Lewis. So we went to all our favorite places to deal with each instrument accordingly."

He continued: "You go where the magic is. Everybody has their way. It's like outsourcing expertise. I've never recorded with anybody, over my 20-year career, that does my vocals better than Joseph. And he's gonna mix the record. And Mark Lewis is a monster at capturing drums. Him and John are really good friends. And Max is so proficient. It just makes everybody's life easier, the tonality that we were able to get. Just like the band's music is a concatenation of all these different influences of different genres, the recordings are as well."

Vext also revealed that BAD WOLVES have recorded another cover, following the band's massive breakout success last year with its rendition of the 1993 CRANBERRIES classic "Zombie".

Originally scheduled to feature a guest appearance from late CRANBERRIES frontwoman Dolores O'Riordan, "Zombie" launched shortly after her death in January of 2018 and went on to top the rock radio chart and sell a million copies.

"Zombie" surfaced on BAD WOLVES' debut LP, "Disobey", which came out in May 2018 and has also yielded the follow-up single "Hear Me Now", featuring Diamante, which reached No. 2 on the rock chart.

Guitarist Doc Coyle spoke to Australia's Loud about the musical direction of the band's second album. He explained: "It's diverse. There's stuff that's probably heavier, as or more heavy than the last record... And then there's some really catchy, kind of more mainstream stuff to cover that end of it, and a lot of stuff in the middle."

BAD WOLVES was formed in 2017, comprised of former members of DEVILDRIVER, GOD FORBID, DIVINE HERESY and IN THIS MOMENT.

ENTOMBED A.D.: 'Elimination' Music Video

The official music video for "Elimination", a brand new song from Swedish metallers ENTOMBED A.D., can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's upcoming album, "Bowels Of Earth", which will be released on August 30 via Century Media.

Comments singer Lars-Göran Petrov: "Chainsaw guitars, feral vocals bark and raw blasting drums. Please disgust yourself with our new track and video for 'Elimination'!"

"Bowels Of Earth" track listing:

01. Torment Remains

02. Elimination

03. Hell Is My Home

04. Bowels Of Earth

05. Bourbon Nightmare

06. Fit For A King

07. Worlds Apart

08. Through The Eyes Of The Gods

09. I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive (Hank Williams cover)

10. To Eternal Night

According to a press release, the follow-up to 2016's "Dead Dawn" "represents a huge leap forward for these gnarly veterans. Faster, tighter and more viscerally crushing than anything they have produced before."

Petrov said: "We have our Brazilian friend, Guilherme, coming into the band on guitar and we've been getting energy from that.

"This recording was a lot more focused and straightforward. We kept things simple, but still with thought behind everything. And there was absolutely no stress."

ENTOMBED A.D. was formed in 2014 when Petrov and other members of ENTOMBED decided to change the band's name in order to avoid a legal battle with ENTOMBED guitarist Alex Hellid who didn't want his former bandmates to use the ENTOMBED moniker.

"[ENTOMBED and ENTOMBED A.D. are] the same thing — just some minor complications on the way," Petrov told Finland's Rauta. "But we are here and playing music and headbanging, and that's the most important. But it's the same. It's the same."

Petrov added that he and his bandmates "don't think about" the slight alteration in the group's name. "We just let it roll. As long as we are out, nobody can stop us."

Asked what inspires him to make music and write lyrics these days, Petrov said: "It's boring to sit at home. [Laughs] No, you can always be productive and be out on tour and have no sleep. But that all doesn't matter when you come to the show and you see your brothers in metal. Then it's all worth it."

On the topic of ENTOMBED's musical evolution over the years, Petrov said: "As you go on in life, you experience new things, you wanna try out other things, and ENTOMBED has always tried to do that. Maybe more than for our own good sometimes, but now we're just going straightforward and we just do it again — over and over again. And as long as you don't get tired of it, you just continue. If you get tired of it, you should quit. You don't do it because… If you don't like it, step aside and let it roll."

ENTOMBED A.D. is:

Lars-Göran Petrov - Vocals

Nico Elgstrand - Guitar

Olle Dahlstedt - Drums

Guilherme Miranda - Guitar

THY ART IS MURDER Releases Music Video For 'New Gods'

THY ART IS MURDER Releases Music Video For 'New Gods'

Australian deathcore masters THY ART IS MURDER have released the official music video for their song "New Gods". The track is taken from the band's fifth album, "Human Target", which is being released today (Friday, July 26) via Nuclear Blast and Human Warfare (Australia and New Zealand). The disc was produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Will Putney at Graphic Nature Audio in Belleville, New Jersey. The artwork was once again painted by Eliran Kantor (HATEBREED, TESTAMENT, ICED EARTH, SODOM).

Guitarist Andy Marsh comments: "'New Gods' is interwoven in theme with the song 'Chemical Christ', discussing the idea of mental health and modern inventions' intervention with a natural state of consciousness. The idea that social media is one of the major driving forces of increasing levels of depression in the western world was fascinating to us, and we thought what better way to use the platform ironically to discuss these ideas than by using an aspect ratio designed specifically for it. We hope you watch the clip and then put your phone down, life is better through the eye of the beholder than the lens of an algorithm."

"Human Target" track listing:

01. Human Target

02. New Gods

03. Death Squad Anthem

04. Make America Hate Again

05. Eternal Suffering

06. Welcome Oblivion

07. Atonement

08. Voyeurs Into Death

09. Eye For An Eye

10. Chemical Christ

THY ART IS MURDER vocalist CJ McMahon left the band in 2015 over financial woes and substance-abuse issues. The frontman has since returned to the fold for 2017's "Dear Desolation" album.

Last year, CJ McMahon told Exclaim! that he hates it when THY ART IS MURDER is lumped in with the "cliché hashtag" of deathcore music.

"We all listen to so many different styles of music," he said. "That's what makes us unique; that we're so in touch with music as a whole. We're just writing music that we want to play and hear," he explained. "If people aren't going to give us a chance because they've heard someone call us a deathcore band, I really don't give a fuck. It is mindblowing that people will put shit on you without listening to your band just because of a genre's name. It's just a strange thing, man. I really don't get it."

Listen To New THE AGONIST Song 'Burn it All Down'

Listen To New THE AGONIST Song 'Burn it All Down'

"Burn it All Down", a brand new song from Montreal, Quebec, Canada's extreme metal juggernaut THE AGONIST, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's upcoming album, "Orphans", which will be released on September 20 via Rodeostar Records.

Says vocalist Vicky Psarakis: "When I heard the first instrumentals for 'Orphans' I was a bit shocked and confused. The music was really dark and heavier than anything we've done in previous albums and I wasn't quite sure how I'd be able to match that emotion. But then, you know, all it took was writing one full song to get the ball rolling and 2-3 months later, everything was done.

"With every new album, we love to experiment and dip our toes into new territory, but there's also a lot of elements here that are reminiscent of the earlier days. You can expect a lot of hard hitting, fast-paced madness and many many blast beats! Vocally, there's a wide range of styles, some of which I tried out for the first time, and the lyrics are mostly inspired from horror stories and real-life tragedies. Events that I felt a lot of people can relate to.

"'Orphans' is my third album with THE AGONIST and I can't wait to show the world what we created!"

On its sixth studio album, "Orphans", THE AGONIST has unleashed a true monster feeding on melodic death metal and almost rocking moments. In between beautifully anthemic metal sound walls, pounding grooves and fierce riffs, charismatic vocalist Vicky Psarakis showcases her impressive range that covers everything from rock diva all the way to sick death metal growls. The result is a flickering, iridescent and varied masterpiece nestled in between sheer brutality and melodic frailty.

"Orphans" track listing:

01. In Vertigo

02. As One We Survive

03. The Gift of Silence

04. Blood as My Guide

05. Mr. Cold

06. Dust to Dust

07. A Devil Made Me Do It

08. The Killing I

09. Orphans

10. Burn it All Down

Listen To New LACUNA COIL Song 'Layers Of Time'

Listen To New LACUNA COIL Song 'Layers Of Time'

"Layers Of Time", a brand new song from Italian heavy rockers LACUNA COIL, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's upcoming album, "Black Anima", which will be released on October 11 through Century Media Records.

"Black Anima" track listing:

01. Anima Nera

02. Sword Of Anger

03. Reckless

04. Layers Of Time

05. Apocalypse

06. Now Or Never

07. Under The Surface

08. Veneficium

09. The End Is All I Can See

10. Save Me

11. Black Anima

12. Black Feathers (deluxe edition only)

13. Through The Flames (deluxe edition only)

14. Black Dried Up Heart (deluxe edition only)

Singer Cristina Scabbia told HardDrive Radio about "Black Anima": "It might sound really cliché if we say that it's gonna be heavier and darker, but this is actually the truth. Because I don't think that LACUNA COIL has ever been so heavy. And it will be surprising a lot of people, because we experimented a lot of things differently — vocally and musically.

"It will be revolving around a book and some other stuff that we can't talk about. And 'Black Anima' is basically translated as 'black soul,' 'cause 'anima' is an Italian word that we decided to use as the title."

Added co-vocalist Andrea Ferro: "There's quite a variety of songs, so there's heaviness, but there's also some more melodic tracks that can be more catchy. But it's a very complex record with a lot of different flavors. And we experiment a lot on the lyrics about our lives growing up, experiencing loss or other things that you get more of in the mature age. So we felt the connection with these people that [are] not with us anymore, so we decided to talk about this connection that we feel beyond life."

Continued Cristina: "It's a strange combination of sounds that is really difficult to describe. I guess you guys will have to listen to it, 'cause it's hard to describe."

Asked if the diversity of the new LACUNA COIL music wil lend itself to a dynamic stage show, Cristina said: "Absolutely, because we're touching different themes. And also the styles of the songs — despite being heavy and sometimes even melodic, they're very diverse, one from each other, so that will give us the opportunity to do a lot of different stuff on stage. We have a lot of ideas for the shows that we will play after the release."

Added Andrea: "We've also been working with some artists for some of the visual of the booklets that we can reproduce on the live show for the backdrop and all the special stuff on stage. So we have a lot of ideas. And we're still working on them, because we just literally delivered the master last Monday, or a week ago, basically. And it was actually the last day we could deliver [laughs], so it was right in time, perfectly in time. So Marco [Coti Zelati, bass] has been in the studio, working like crazy to finish the master and the mixing. So we already have all the ideas, but we didn't have a lot of time to actually develop them, because we had to focus on that first. But so the next days, we're gonna make it happen."

LACUNA COIL and ALL THAT REMAINS will join forces for the "Disease Of The Anima" North American co-headlining tour. The trek includes special guests BAD OMENS, TOOTHGRINDER (September 15 - October 10), EXIMIOUS (October 11 - October 19) and UNCURED. Tickets for the tour go on sale starting July 26 at 12 p.m. local time. Tickets will include a digital download e-mail directly from MusicRedemptions.com, where fans can redeem either "Black Anima" or ALL THAT REMAINS's latest album, "Victim Of The New Disease". The download will only be available in select markets.

Listen To New VOLBEAT Song 'Pelvis On Fire'

Listen To New VOLBEAT Song 'Pelvis On Fire'

"Pelvis On Fire", a new song from the Danish/American hard rock group VOLBEAT, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's forthcoming seventh album, "Rewind, Replay, Rebound", which will be released on August 2 via Republic Records.

At this point in their already storied career, VOLBEAT has opened for METALLICA, MOTÖRHEAD and SLIPKNOT, garnered the 2014 "Best Metal Performance" Grammy nomination for "Room 24" and won multiple Danish Music Awards. For this album, they mine their own personal histories and that of their genre: the song "When We Were Kids" finds VOLBEAT ruminating on immortality and innocence we all naively experience in our youth, while "Rewind The Exit" and "Die To Live" both explore how the pursuit of perfection can be a hollow goal.

"Rewind, Replay, Rebound" was produced by longtime collaborator Jacob Hansen and co-produced by Rob Caggiano and Michael Poulsen. This marks the first studio album with Kaspar Boye Larsen on bass. To achieve the album's sound, the band also drew upon a myriad of guests. In addition to again working with backing vocalist Mia Maja on several tracks, they also reunited with the Harlem Gospel Choir. CLUTCH vocalist Neil Fallon is featured on "Die To Live", the result of touring together and a love for the singer's gruff and powerful style. Raynier Jacob Jacildo (piano) and Doug Corocran (saxophone) of JD McPherson's band also lend their talents to the song. "Cheapside Sloggers" features a ripping guitar solo by EXODUS and SLAYER guitarist Gary Holt. Ultimately, VOLBEAT have not lost their passion to create and progress. It's that which keeps them hungry — and musically honest on the new album.

VOLBEAT recently announced the first leg of the "Rewind, Replay, Rebound" world tour, with support from BARONESS and DANKO JONES.

OF MICE & MEN To Release 'Earthandsky' Album In September; 'Earth & Sky' Video Available

OF MICE & MEN To Release 'Earthandsky' Album In September; 'Earth & Sky' Video Available

California rockers OF MICE & MEN will release their new album, "Earthandsky", on September 27 via Rise Records. The disc will include the previously released tracks "Mushroom Cloud" and "How To Survive", as well as the newly issued single "Earth & Sky". The official music video for the latter song, directed by directed by Mark Lediard, can be seen below.

"'Earth & Sky' is a song about resilience," says frontman Aaron Pauley. It's about understanding that you can rise above whatever it is that keeps trying to drag you down, no matter what.

"For me, a lot of the time, I'm writing about battling with my own mind. For you, it may be a person, or an obstacle, or a circumstance," he continues. "Regardless of whatever it is that's trying relentlessly to drag you down, I hope this song empowers you to rise above it with authority, like it does me every time I sing it."

"Earthandsky" track listing:

01. Gravedancer

02. As We Suffocate

03. Taste Of Regret

04. Mushroom Cloud

05. Pieces

06. Deceiver/Deceived

07. Earth & Sky

08. The Mountain

09. Meltdown

10. Linger

11. How To Survive

"How To Survive" marked the first taste of new music from the Southern California quartet since last year's much-praised "Defy" album.

In a recent interview, OF MICE & MEN drummer Valentino Arteaga expressed his enthusiasm for working with producer Josh Wilbur, whose credits include GOJIRA, LAMB OF GOD and SOULFLY. "He's a metalhead," Arteaga said. "We went with a metalhead producer because we wanted to make metalhead music.

"In a lot of ways, OF MICE & MEN is a metalcore band," he continued. "We're never going to escape whatever label we are. We really felt like we wanted to go in and make new music that was going to excite as us as the members OF MICE & MEN and fans of OF MICE & MEN and to really make music that from the bottom of our hearts, excited us and in our mind, would get the pits going.

"'How To Survive' is different just in the sense that it's bare-knuckle heavier. 'Defy' was fun in a very colorful way and across the spectrum of what we consider to be heavy music, whether it's emotionally heavy or drop-tuned heavy kind of shit. But, the collection of what we've got coming up, it's really exciting because it's heavy. [Laughs]

"We'll always be a heavy band," he added. "You can always count on us to do stuff like that. We realized we need to be the best and sickest OF MICE & MEN that we can be. Because if we won't do it, who will? We've got to do it."

"Defy" marked OF MICE & MEN's first full-length release without vocalist Austin Carlile, who left the group due to his ongoing battle with Marfan syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that afflicts the connective tissue holding the body's cells, organs and tissue together.

It was like a wind whispering or a canyon echoing her name from the past. Who was she? A Native American princess? As I googled the name, it turned out that a lot of American girls under that name have gone missing. A female ghost rider story was born! Cheyenna is freedom's child - forever."

Listen To New ALTER BRIDGE Song 'Pay No Mind'

Listen To New ALTER BRIDGE Song 'Pay No Mind'

"Pay No Mind", a new song from ALTER BRIDGE, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's upcoming sixth studio album, titled "Walk The Sky", which will be released on October 18 via Napalm Records. According to a press release, the 14-track follow-up to 2016's "The Last Hero" is a "complete career retrospective drawing upon elements from each of the band's previous releases to create something new."

"Walk The Sky" track listing:

01. One Life

02. Wouldn't You Rather

03. In The Deep

04. Godspeed

05. Native Son

06. Take The Crown

07. Indoctrination

08. The Bitter End

09. Pay No Mind

10. Forever Falling

11. Clear Horizon

12. Walking On The Sky

13. Tear Us Apart

14. Dying Light

The song "Forever Falling" features guitarist Mark Tremonti on lead vocals.

Tremonti told Kerrang! magazine about "Walk The Sky": "It's kinda like a [revered horror maestro] John Carpenter movie — this old-school synth-wave kind of vibe. Somebody might hear the record and have no idea that was intended, but for a batch of songs, I tapped into some old loops that I either created or found randomly online, and worked with them in the background to inspire me to go in a different direction. I loved working like that. We challenge ourselves to not repeat ourselves and find new inspiration to add a different layer to what we do. It's particularly challenging when you've had so many records, but when I showed Myles [Kennedy, vocals/guitar] what I was thinking, he absolutely loved it and was on board right away."

As for how "Walk The Sky" compares to the rest of ALTER BRIDGE's discography, Mark said: "It's hard to completely get away from who we are — the same four guys in the band — but everyone who's heard the record says it has its own personality and doesn't sound like any particular ALTER BRIDGE record. But that being said, it's familiar ALTER BRIDGE territory, and Myles has said it's kind of the answer to 'AB III'. That was a very brooding and dark lyrical record, whereas this one is the yang to the yin of that. 'AB III' was kind of about a loss of faith and not believing. Myles was having a dark moment in that time and he wrote the majority of the lyrics. This is more of an enlightening, Zen kind of record. It's not a preachy record by any means; it's more of a free-spirited kind of thing."

ALTER BRIDGE and SKILLET will embark on a co-headline tour this fall. The "Victorious Sky" trek kicks off on September 22 in Baltimore and runs through October 25 in Orlando. DIRTY HONEY will also appear.

HIGH ON FIRE Parts Ways With Drummer DES KENSEL

HIGH ON FIRE Parts Ways With Drummer DES KENSEL

California heavy rockers HIGH ON FIRE have parted ways with founding drummer Des Kensel.

Kensel announced his departure from the group in an Instagram post earlier today. He wrote: "As a founding member of HIGH ON FIRE, I feel blessed to have spent the last 21 years traveling around the world pursuing my childhood dream to write and play music. After eight albums, countless tours, and a Grammy win, I am very thankful for what we have been able to accomplish as a band.

"Being a full-time professional musician can have its challenges. One gets through those challenges with patience, hard work and perseverance.

"After much consideration, it is time for me to announce that I will no longer be performing with HIGH ON FIRE. I will now be focusing on new opportunities and spending time with my family.

"I would like to sincerely thank all of our fans for your support throughout the years. Without you, none of this would have been possible.

"Lastly, I would like to wish my band-mates the best of luck in the future."

Kensel was absent from two HIGH ON FIRE shows this past May. Filling in for him at those dates was GAYTHEIST's Nick Parks.

HIGH ON FIRE will embark on a North American fall tour with POWER TRIP. Dates kick off on November 7 at Levitation Festival, the three-day music festival held in Austin, Texas, now in its sixth year, and continue through the end of the year. Support on the tour will come from DEVIL MASTER and CREEPING DEATH.

This past January, HIGH ON FIRE was forced to cancel its U.S. tour with TOKE and YEAR OF THE COBRA due to another medical emergency suffered by the band's frontman, Matt Pike. The trek was scheduled to kick off on January 10 in Atlanta, Georgia and wrap on February 1 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This marked the second tour HIGH ON FIRE had scrapped in less than three months. Last fall, the Oakland, California-based outfit pulled out of a trek with MUNICIPAL WASTE due to "a medical emergency culminating in the partial amputation of one of [Pike's] toes," the band said at the time.

HIGH ON FIRE was honored with a Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category in the pre-telecast ceremony at the 61st annual Grammy Awards, which was held on February 10 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. HIGH ON FIRE was nominated for "Electric Messiah", the title track of its 2018 album.

"Electric Messiah" was released in October via Entertainment One (eOne).

Last fall, the band completed a European co-headlining tour with ENSLAVED.

I will now be focusing on new opportunities and spending time with my family. I would like to sincerely thank all of our fans for your support throughout the years. Without you, none of this would have been possible. Lastly, I would like to wish my band-mates the best of luck in the future. RUBIKON To Release New Album In September; "Blood On My Hands" Music Video Streaming

RUBIKON To Release New Album In September; "Blood On My Hands" Music Video Streaming

Rubikon is back after four years with The Record, out September 20 via Round Hill Records. It follows Delta (2015), which produced the Top 40 Active Rock single “Live That Lie”, and brought numerous song placements on shows such as Shameless.

Rubikon is more than a band, it’s a true brotherhood. Five friends who love making music together, and they have a hell of a time doing it.

The Record brings the band back to the basics, creating songs that are just good. At the same time elevating their sound into full-tilt overdrive with their high-energy, in your face, heavy rock melodies. The songs expand on their signature sound but they are tighter and hit harder; there’s a wider dynamic range and a more experimental approach in bringing in a variety of instruments such as pedal-steel guitar, baritone saxophone, and even a banjo and mandolin.

For the recording process, the band assembled at Sienna Studios in Nashville (formerly Quad Studios where they recorded Delta), working with engineer-mixer Tim Brennan (Steven Tyler, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Gretchen Wilson). The Record features the usual Rubikon suspects – Jae Sims (vocals), Josh Gruss (guitars), Dave Raymond (guitars), Hugh Eaton (bass), and Doug Arsham (drums and vocals) – but also includes guest spots from Elisha Hoffman (mandolin, banjo, acoustic guitar), Drew Belk (pedal steel), and Randy Leago (saxophone). The album was recorded live (the band admits to a handful of overdubs) and was mastered by Alex McCollough (Robert Plant, John Prine, Amanda Shires).

The result brought Rubikon’s distinctive style to such hard rock bangers as “Blood On My Hands”, the first single (video below), and a song about taking personal ownership of how we interact and treat people in todays’ world. “What does the time ripple of an insult or an outburst of anger do to a person?” asks Sims. “’Blood On My Hands’ is a celebration of our differences, but at the same time a warning to one’s self about what our personal actions need to look like.”

Listeners will also find a new classic rock leaning side of the band on songs such as the pedal-steel laced “Devil’s Footsteps”, which showcases a mellower side of their songwriting. “It deals with the loss of innocence. A time forgotten. Something you look back on and long for,” says Sims. “For me, it also touches on the vicious cycle of addiction and the internal battle not to follow in the devil's footsteps.” All of the songs on The Record weave stories that meld together to create an intense musical mixture of hard rock riffs, rootsy rhythms, and soaring melodic vocals.

After three full-length albums, a couple of EPs, and some serious time crammed into a van/RV touring the country and playing with such bands as Disturbed, Black Label Society, Damageplan, Sevendust, Shinedown, and Nonpoint to name a few, The Record finds Rubikon in a more experimental place, but the constant elements remain the same: five friends who love making music together, playing for their fans, and having a great time doing it.

As singer Sims notes, “Rock n' roll never dies. We want to restore a little organic humanity back into music. No frills, just rock. No genres, just good songs.”

QUEENSRŸCHE Releases 'Bent' Lyric Video

QUEENSRŸCHE Releases 'Bent' Lyric Video

The official lyric video for the QUEENSRŸCHE song "Bent" can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's latest album, "The Verdict", which was released in March via Century Media Records. The disc was produced, mixed, and mastered by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (ROB ZOMBIE, ICED EARTH, HATEBREED) at Uberbeatz in Lynwood, Washington; Planet-Z in Wilbraham, Massachusetts; and Watershed Studio in Seattle, Washington.

Singer Todd La Torre comments: "'Bent' is a lyrical conglomerate of social injustices and societal struggles infused with progressive musicality. Snippets of thought-provoking subject matter take you on a journey of uptempo hard rock/metal riffs with melancholic melodies and atmospheres."

The current QUEENSRŸCHE lineup features two original members, bassist Eddie Jackson and guitarist Michael Wilton, along with La Torre and guitarist Parker Lundgren.

"The Verdict" marks QUEENSRŸCHE's third full-length release with La Torre, following the departure of Geoff Tate in 2012.

For the past two years, drummer Scott Rockenfield has been taking time off from QUEENSRŸCHE's touring activities to spend time with his young son, who was born in early 2017. Filling in for him is former KAMELOT drummer Casey Grillo.

La Torre, who has played drums since the age of 13, laid down the drum tracks on "The Verdict".
