AZUSA Featuring Members Of THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, EXTOL, And SEA + AIR Release "Heavy Yoke" Music Video

AZUSA Featuring Members Of THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, EXTOL, And SEA + AIR Release "Heavy Yoke" Music Video

Members of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Extol, and Sea + Air have joined creative forces as Azusa. The band's debut album, Heavy Yoke, will be released on November 16th via Solid State Records in North America.

A music video for the album's title track can be seen below. The band described the clip as the "abstract visual metaphor about habit loops, rewinding time, and loss of innocence. Aesthetically, we were imaging what it would look like if Jonathan Glazer directed an episode of Twin Peaks."

About the track itself, Azusa said, "The musical elements in 'Heavy Yoke' are constantly challenging the song's center line and balance point. While the acrobatic riffing insists on taking the tune off-track, the vocal lines add an anchoring sense of stability within the chaos. The opening riff is a precarious roller coaster and one of the more jarring, yet thrilling rides on the whole album. After the intro drop, the chorus catches you in a cushion of harmony, leaving you feeling secure and ready to take that ride again."

The band furthered, "Thematically, 'Heavy Yoke' deals with those unspeakable truths lurking in the subconscious mind. You can ignore them for a while, but sooner or later, they'll haunt you in the night. When you finally wake yourself up and let the daylight in, its healing powers reveal universal truths, which bring clarity and relief."

Azusa's music is a carnival of contrast - it's captivating with unconventional nerve. Uniting the complementary skills of its members, Azusa's sound is a thrash-fusion tour de force. Can you imagine Kate Bush fronting Slayer? Death collaborating with Annette Peacock? These allegedly incongruent influences dissolve seamlessly in an alluring sonic alchemy.

Uncompromisingly experimental, Azusa's curated approach showcases each member's unique strengths as a reaction to previous endeavours, more so than an extension of them. Reflecting on life's existential mysteries, Azusa's lyrics seek to explore cognitive dissonances at the crossroads of upbringing, mysticism, belief and betrayal. Defying expectations by embracing contradiction, Azusa finds strength in vulnerability, harmony in dissonance, and melody in discord.

The band commented on its debut, saying, "This album is special for all of us and we're currently feeling the same excited feelings we got before we debuted any of our previous efforts. We are really fortunate to have been able to create these songs together and to be able to share them with fans of our former and current bands, as well as new fans."

Azusa finished by stating, "It has been such a relief crafting music without having any outside expectations placed on us. Turning to creative playfulness with a more relaxed and intuitive approach to songwriting, we feel that this collection of songs will hold a unique space in the atmosphere of heavy music."

FOGHAT Spinoff EARL & THE AGITATORS ALL STAR BAND Return With Shaken & Stirred Album; "Guess Things Happen That Way" Performance Video Streaming

FOGHAT Spinoff EARL & THE AGITATORS ALL STAR BAND Return With Shaken & Stirred Album; "Guess Things Happen That Way" Performance Video Streaming

Rock n’ roll, blues and a dash of country are being served "Shaken & Stirred" in the latest release by the Earl & The Agitators All Star Band. Shaken & Stirred (a follow-up to their 2016 self-titled EP) will be released on Friday, October 26th (Foghat Records, distributed by Select-O-Hits).

Earl & The Agitators is the brain child of Foghat founding member/drummer Roger Earl, singer/guitarist extraordinaire Scott Holt (former 10-year Buddy Guy alum) and Foghat lead/slide guitarist Bryan Bassett. Rounding out the lineup for the live bonus tracks are Foghat bassist Rodney O’Quinn, guitarist Tony Bullard and percussionist Mark Petrocelli.

A pre-order and stream of the album is available here.

“This band was born out of a passion for American Music,” explains Roger. “Rock, Blues & Country. Scott Holt, who played with Buddy Guy, one of my musical heroes, for many years, channels this music with a joy and mastery of a seasoned pro. With his fireballing guitar and soulful vocals, we had a blast writing and recording!  And since we are all big Johnny Cash fans we also included a couple of his songs for fun. I love making music with Scott!"

“So, you're in a band and you have some friends that are in another band,” adds Scott. “You get together and hang out, writing and recording music. You share a love for old rock n’ roll, blues and country, so you jam on a Tommy Tucker tune and even take a swing at a Johnny Cash cut from the Sun Records days. You're having so much fun that you give it a name and even take it onstage! The recipe is simple; take your Chess and Sun 45's, throw them in a blender with a dollop of thundering drums, thumping bass and searing electric guitars...I'm pretty sure that's the recipe for rock n’ roll!”

Bryan also realized that EATA were on to something special, straight away. “Over the years of playing professionally I have come to recognize and appreciate musical chemistry. When you meet someone that you just hit it off with, both as a friend and as a musical collaborator, special things happen. And so it was when I met Scott Holt. Our instant chemistry for writing songs and the way we just naturally blended as guitar players lead to us having many tracks recorded for no other reason than we loved writing, playing and recording together. Roger and I have been comrades in arms for many years and now we had all these songs recorded and ready to go. That left us with a conundrum...what do we do with them? Well what we did was come up with a *fun name, ‘Earl and the Agitators’ and we decided to put the songs out there so our friends and fans could listen, and I hope like what we've come up with. It certainly was a great musical experience for Rog, Scott and I and all our fellow collaborating ‘Earls’.”

*One last note from Roger “whilst pondering over a bottle of Foghat Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Bryan declared us ‘Earl & The Agitators” and that’s how we came to be!"

And as seen/heard in this live performance of “Guess Things Happen That Way”, recorded at the Club Arcada in St. Charles, Illinois on March 15th, 2018, this band takes their ‘chemistry’ to the next level as these musical worlds collide on stage. Watch below.

NAILED TO OBSCURITY Set January Release Date For Debut Album; Details Revealed

NAILED TO OBSCURITY Set January Release Date For Debut Album; Details Revealed

German melodic death/doom metallers, Nailed To Obscurity, announce the release of their upcoming label debut, Black Frost, for January 11th through Nuclear Blast Records. The album features seven brand new extensive tracks, which absorb the listener with its stunning atmosphere, without sacrificing the band's remarkable sound.

States the band, "Frequently, we carry frustration, pain, fear and rage with us until it's too late. Like black frost that builds up weightily on the mast and the ropes of a ship, able to cause it to capsize, we burden ourselves. These suppressed emotions are the focus of Black Frost, which for us is the next logical step after King Delusion. While the new songs feature our distinctive touches, they are also a lot more open and multifaceted than ever before. We can't wait to finally unleash our Nuclear Blast debut and to present Black Frost live on stage in January/February!"

Black Frost was recorded at Woodshed Studio (near Landshut, Germany) with producer V. Santura (Triptykon, Dark Fortress), the artwork was designed by Santiago Caruso.

Explains Caruso, "Through the ages, the experience of the organic has outspread a substance frozen by the fear of uncertainty: the order of the sight succeeded to mute the mystery of the organism with a web of cold signs within the limits of the body, covering the shape of our true selves under the petrified whisper of a black frost. Now, we are in need of crying out a sharp thunder, a burning poem to melt it down."

Tracklisting:

"Black Frost"
"Tears Of The Eyeless"
"The Aberrant Host"
"Feardom"
"Cipher"
"Resonance"
"Road To Perdition"

The first musical / visual taster as well as pre-orders will be available soon. The album release will be celebrated with an extensive European tour with Amorphis, Soilwork and Jinjer.

ACE FREHLEY Explains Why He Fired His Band: 'It Wasn't Just About Funds'

ACE FREHLEY Explains Why He Fired His Band: 'It Wasn't Just About Funds'

Former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley spoke to SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation" about his decision to part ways with the solo band that has backed him on his most recent tours: Richie Scarlet on guitar, Chris Wyse on bass and Scot Coogan. "That was hard," Frehley admitted. As for how the change happened, Ace said: "Well, I had performed with Gene's [Simmons, KISS bassist/vocalist] backup band in Australia, and then Gene, for some reason, canceled his trip to Japan. So I went to Japan with his band and we did eight shows. And they're super tight; they all sing lead — four-part harmony. I mean, I'll never forget playing '2000 Man' the first time with this band, and all of a sudden, I'm hearing all the harmonies that were on the original record done by Paul [Stanley] and Gene. I'm saying, 'Great.' So, after the last show in Tokyo, I said to these guys, 'Are you available? Would you consider doing the ['Kiss Kruise']?' And they said, 'Yeah.' They're all fans of mine. And they're cheaper than my band, and I'm trying to cut costs down. I cut one crew member… It wasn't just about funds. I would have paid them what I'm paying my band right now, because they're that good. But don't let them know that."

Asked how Scarlet, Wyse and Coogan took the news that they were being replaced, Frehley said: "Chris took it really well. He's been playing with the [HOLLYWOOD] VAMPIRES, he told me he was doing solo shows with Joe Perry, and he's one of the most sought-after bass players in Los Angeles. So Chris took it really well. Scotty didn't take it very well. And Richie didn't take it well, because his wife had just passed away [after battling ALS for many years]."

He continued: "It was a nightmare, because I kept procrastinating, because I said, 'How can I call Richie and let him know I'm using another band when his wife is on her deathbed?' And it was tearing me apart. Finally I just said, 'I've gotta man up.' So I called him and I told him briefly why and… and he hung up on me. [Laughs] He goes, 'I can't believe this shit,' and he hung up on me. So, two days later, I called him back in the evening, and I said, 'Rich…' He apologized for hanging up on me. I've known Richie forever. So we healed. He told me he loved me like a brother; I told him the same. I said, 'Tell me what I can do for you, because I know you were expecting the money from the cruise.' So I wired some money into his account to help pay for Joann's funeral. She was a wonderful lady."

Frehley went on to defend the fact that he fired Scarlet at a particularly vulnerable time in Richie's life, explaining: "Bad timing is bad timing, but business decisions really don't… can't… with personal life, it never jells. It's never the right time, in a lot of cases."

arlier in the month, Ace told "The Cassius Morris Show" that he decided to use Gene's band instead of his previous musicians because "they [are] better than my current lineup… They're younger and more hungry."

Backing Frehley and Simmons on the Australian tour were Philip Shouse on guitar/vocals, Ryan Cook on guitar/vocals, Jeremy Asbrock on guitar/vocals, and Christopher Williams on drums. After the Aussie dates, Shouse, Cook, Asbrock and Williams accompanied Frehley on the Japan trek. Shouse switched from guitar to bass for Frehley's show.

Recalling the tour with Frehley and Simmons, Shouse told AL.com, "We were all just having the time of our lives… I think Ace was pretty shocked after the first show that we did with no rehearsal and we pulled it off. By the third show, we'd really hit our stride and were on fire for the rest of the tour."

Asbrock and Shouse are the founders of THEE ROCK N' ROLL RESIDENCY, a popular Nashville tribute band that routinely hosts surprise appearances by such rocks stars as Alice Cooper, Robin Zander (CHEAP TRICK) and Roger Glover (DEEP PURPLE).

Frehley — whose new solo album, "Spaceman", will be released via eOne on October 19 — first left KISS in 1982. He rejoined in 1996 and parted ways with the band once again in 2002 after the conclusion of their first "farewell tour."

Listen To New SICK OF IT ALL Song 'Wake The Sleeping Dragon!'

Listen To New SICK OF IT ALL Song 'Wake The Sleeping Dragon!'

New York hardcore legends SICK OF IT ALL will release their twelfth studio album, "Wake The Sleeping Dragon!", on November 2. The follow-up to 2014's "The Last Act Of Defiance" was produced by Jerry Farley (EVERY TIME I DIE, DEMON HUNTER) over a two-and-a-half-week period at Nova Studios in Staten Island, New York and was mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen (MESHUGGAH, THE HAUNTED, MADBALL). The cover artwork was created by Ernie Parada and can be seen below.

The "Wake The Sleeping Dragon!" title track can be streamed below.

Says the band: "'Wake The Sleeping Dragon!', the title track of our new album, is a hard-driving song about big brother encroaching on our lives and recognizing the reality that we the people have the power to stop it through unity. So take your head out of your ass and smarten up.

"We are very excited for all of you to hear this new album as we feel it's our best work to date."

b>"Wake The Sleeping Dragon!" features guest appearances by RISE AGAINST vocalist/guitarist Tim McIlrath and HOT WATER MUSIC frontman Chuck Ragan.

Working with friends is one of the key factors that are very important to SICK OF IT ALL, so asking Parada for the striking front cover was an obvious choice. "There is no reason to burn bridges in this business," says drummer drummer Armand Majidi. "Our history with Ernie Parada goes back to the late eighties, so working with him, there is a kinship that makes things easier to communicate."

Singer Lou Koller and Parada came up with the idea of doing monster-movie-styled art as the cover. "The dragon climbing the Empire State was a concept I always wanted to see brought to life, so the two ideas were destined to come together this way," Lou says.

SICK OF IT ALL and Tue Madsen, who mixed and mastered "Wake The Sleeping Dragon!", have maintained a long-lasting relationship based on understanding, friendship and most importantly, good results — three factors any band would be very happy with. Jerry Farley also became a very important part of the creation of this album. After working with him at Nova Studios in Staten Island, New York, they went for a closer approach on this album. "This is the first time we've ever had a producer involved from start to finish, including the songwriting process," the band says. "His objective viewpoints helped settle a lot of little issues that could have easily become stumbling blocks, and the songs themselves ended up benefitting from them."

SICK OF IT ALL's latest release was the "When The Smoke Clears" EP, which came out in November 2016 via Century Media Records.

BLOODBATH: Video For 'Chainsaw Lullaby' Song From 'The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn' Album

BLOODBATH: Video For 'Chainsaw Lullaby' Song From 'The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn' Album

The official video for the song "Chainsaw Lullaby" from the demonic death metal supergroup BLOODBATH can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's upcoming fifth album, "The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn", which will be released on October 26 via Peaceville.

Recorded by BLOODBATH and Karl Daniel Liden at Ghost Ward, City Of Glass and Tri-Lamb Studios during the first half of this foul year of our Lord, the album is the second with Nick Holmes (PARADISE LOST) on vocals. If 2014's "Grand Morbid Funeral" was a thick spray of deathly noise, on "The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn", it is the rotten, fetid state of the world and our inevitable doom that is casting a looming shadow over proceedings. With world leaders threatening nuclear annihilation in 140 characters over social media, capitalism tearing itself apart, a wilful march into a surveillance state via handy pocket spying devices, a shifting climate that appears to literally be trying to kill us… It's all fuelled BLOODBATH's newest ode to filth.

"What are we presenting with this album? Humanity's unfaltering march prone towards downfall," declares guitarist Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström (KATATONIA). "The threat to this world isn't from far beyond the sun, the enemy is right here, within the walls. Only the god of emptiness will survive us all. The arrow of Satan is drawn!"

Right from the opening notes of the scything "Fleischmann", this sense of impending horror is carved into the music. The brutal "Wayward Samaritan" is anything but merciful, while "Deader" is a truly morbid workout, and "Morbid Antichrist" summons the spirits of those two classic death metal outfits perfectly. By the time things reach an atomic conclusion on the evil rock'n'roll of "Chainsaw Lullaby", you'll have been sucked into BLOODBATH's unholy world forever.

here's an extra nasty layer on "The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn". This time, among the usual chainsaw riffs and blasts, the darkness of Blakkheim's words is also reflected in the addition of new guitarist Joakim Karlsson of Swedish black metal plague CRAFT. It's a step forward that's only given the band's already fearsome fangs extra rabid bite.

He's not the only extra face getting covered in gore. "Bloodicide" — quite literally meaning "The Killing Of Blood" — features a full house of British death metal guest stars, with CARCASS's Jeff Walker, BOLT THROWER/MEMORIAM singer Karl Willetts and CANCER's John Walker all lending their larynxes to the madness.

"It wasn't deliberately planned to be just british guests, but as it randomly turned out that way, it became a really cool feat!" laughs Blakkheim. "Nick [Holmes], Jeff, Karl and John are all legends respectively within the U.K. death metal scene and we're proud to bring them all together on our little old school soiree to tribute the days of old.

"There's no mitigating circumstances coming your way any time soon," he adds. "The world is a mad place full of darkness, horror, disease and terror! Hell on Earth is real and not just limited to fiction. The dark ages transcend all frontiers, ever present but yet unseen."

"The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn" track listing:

INGLORIOUS To Release Ride To Nowhere Album In January; "Where Are You Now?" Music Video Streaming

INGLORIOUS To Release Ride To Nowhere Album In January; "Where Are You Now?" Music Video Streaming

Frontiers Music Srl has announced the release of Ride To Nowhere, the third studio album by Inglorious, on January 25th. The debut single from the album, “Where Are You Now?”, is released today. Watch a video for the song below.

In amongst their touring commitments, Inglorious spent 2018 writing and recording their third studio album, Ride To Nowhere. A much darker, more reflective album than their previous releases, the new songs further hone the Inglorious sound - the pulsating rhythms, driving guitars and infectious vocal melodies.

“This album is different in many ways. The songs came about very quickly. As with all our songs we start with a riff, and this time having new guitarist Drew added a new and heavier feel to a couple of songs. We wrote the basics mostly together all in one room on acoustic guitars and then I went away and crafted the stories I wanted to tell. For me this album is very personal. I am for the first time writing about a lot of my feelings, relationships and losses...” - Nathan James

“On this album I feel that the songs are a true reflection of what we’ve been through over the past few years - both as a band and as individuals. You’ve got the highs, the lows and lessons learned along the way. The making of this album was at a time when we all had our own personal situations and changes to deal with. I feel that this definitely comes through on the recordings and particularly songs like ‘Tomorrow’, ‘Where Are You Now?’ and ‘Glory Days”. - Colin Parkinson

The recording of Ride To Nowhere involves for the first time new guitarist Drew Lowe, who says, “The album is the next step for the band in maturity. Being that it's my first, I wasn't sure what to expect, but as soon as we started we knew what type of record was coming. Hopefully the fans will love it as they follow us on the musical journey.”

From the body blow riffs of the first single “Where Are You Now?”, to the beautiful melodies and bluesy overtones of “I Don’t Know You,” from the assault of “Freak Show” to the acoustic ballad “Glory Days”, Ride To Nowhere is an absolute gem of an album, showing not only all the influences from iconic rock albums of the 70’s, but also offering the band’s own sound and interpretation. As with Inglorious “II”, the album was mixed by the legendary Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith).

“There’s a lot of variety on this album, more so than the previous ones and that I really like. Sonically I think it sounds more fresh, contemporary in a sense and that goes for a bunch of songs on the album as well. Just the singles alone are different than how we’ve sounded in the past, but still have the Inglorious feel and vibe! Lastly I also think that musically it’s better than the previous albums, everyone plays very tasteful, soulful and collectively I feel that it’s perfect!” - Andreas Eriksson

“We’re all really happy with the way the new record sounds and look forward to seeing how the fans receive it. I personally can’t wait to play the new material live on the road!”- Phil Beaver

The album will be released on CD, Limited Edition Box Set (CD + T-shirt “L" size), Vinyl, Limited Edition Crystal Vinyl - exclusive to Frontiers online shop, Limited Edition White Vinyl - exclusive to the Inglorious online shop.

All vinyls are gatefold sleeve.

FREEDOM CALL Frontman CHRIS BAY Releases New Single "Silent Cry" Featuring SONJA HÖLLERING; Official Video Available

FREEDOM CALL Frontman CHRIS BAY Releases New Single "Silent Cry" Featuring SONJA HÖLLERING; Official Video Available

Freedom Call mastermind Chris Bay releases his fourth single and video, "Silent Cry", today (October 18th). The song features singer Sonja Höllering and is taken from Bay's first solo album, Chasing The Sun.

Chris: "Dear friends, a very special work is done. Here, I would like to introduce the brand new video clip "Silent Cry" from my solo album "Chasing the Sun". In this song, melancholy and emotion dominate the musical and textual soul. Maybe that's why the song "Silent Cry" is especially close to my heart. Torn out of a seemingly perfect world of security and everyday habits, you sometimes feel the deep emotional longing for something powerful, which cannot be expressed in words ... the "Silent Cry". With strong-voiced support from the charming singer Sonja Höllering, the video clip was filmed in front of a lavish backdrop and with many lovingly arranged details. As a producer, nobody less than her husband Franz Höllering stood behind the camera and brought my personal vision of this song to the screen aptly and empathetically. Maybe some of you will recognize yourself in this kind of illusion."

Check out the video below.

LUCIFER'S CHILD Featuring ROTTING CHRIST, NIGHTFALL, CHAOSTAR Members Premier Lyric Video For New Single "Fall Of The Rebel Angels"

LUCIFER'S CHILD Featuring ROTTING CHRIST, NIGHTFALL, CHAOSTAR Members Premier Lyric Video For New Single "Fall Of The Rebel Angels"

Greek black metal band, Lucifer's Child, have released a lyric video for their new single, "Fall Of The Rebel Angels", featured on the band's upcoming second studio album, The Order, out on November 9th via Agonia Records. Watch the clip below.

The band, featuring members of Rotting Christ, Nightfall and Chaostar, recorded eight new songs clad in artwork by Daniele Valeriani (Dark Funeral, Dissection, Mayhem).

Lucifer's Child originates from Athens. It's music is a bridge to the world of atmospheric black metal, and a vessel for spiritual self-expression through lyrics. The goal of unifying these two elements gleamed clearly in the eyes of George Emmanuel, a prolific guitarist primarily known for his work as part of Rotting Christ (and a former guitarist of Chaostar), when he formed the band together with bassist Stathis Ridis (a member of another long-running Hellenic metal unit, Nightfall) in 2013. Born from a partnership between two talented musicians, the duo quickly expanded to take in vocalist Marios Dupont (Karma Violens) and drummer Nick Vell (Chaostar), and delivered their debut album The Wiccan in 2015. Encouraged by the album's keen reception, followed by several festival appearances (incl. Inferno Festival, Blastfest and Incineration Festival), Lucifer's Child returns in a darker, more extreme shade, passionate in outperforming its bold debut.

The Order was recorded, mixed and mastered in Emmanuel's own recording studio, Pentagram. He commented on the new album: "After three years of converging and sculpting our ideas and sounds we are ready to present our second full length album entitled The Order. Lucifer awaits!"

Watch RATT Perform In Dallas

Watch RATT Perform In Dallas

Fan-filmed video footage of RATT's October 13 concert at The Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas can be seen below.

The Dallas show took place a week after RATT's concert in St. Charles, Illinois, where some of the fans said that lead singer Stephen Pearcy was "stumbling" and couldn't "remember the words" to many of the band's most popular songs.

Fan-filmed video footage of the St. Charles gig showed the frontman slurring his way through the set and struggling to hit the notes in the group's biggest hits.

Late last month, RATT played a disastrous show in Huntington, New York, where Pearcy was also slurring while sitting down and nearly lying down on the drum riser. The 62-year-old singer also appeared to be slouching or leaning on to the bass drum during "Round And Round" and holding on to the tom-tom stand and bass drum to keep from falling over.

b>Pearcy later apologized to the RATT fans, saying in a statement that he was "dealing with a pain-management issue due to a bad knee that is scheduled to be replaced in January." He added that he "made the critical error of adding alcohol to my pain meds while on stage" at the Huntington concert "and it destroyed my performance."

Croucier and Pearcy are the sole remaining original members in RATT's current incarnation, which also includes drummer Pete Holmes (BLACK 'N BLUE) and guitarists Jordan Ziff (RAZER) and Chris Sanders (BRITNY FOX, KNIGHT FURY).

RATT's new lineup made its live debut on July 7 in Mulvane, Kansas.

Montreal’s FRACTAL CYPHER – “From The Above And To The Stars” Video Streaming

Montreal’s FRACTAL CYPHER – “From The Above And To The Stars” Video Streaming

Montreal prog quartet Fractal Cypher are premiering their first single and music video "From The Above And To The Stars”. The track is off the band's upcoming mini-album Prelude To An Impending Outcome due out this coming November.

"This is the heaviest song on the record, it's got lots of heavy guitar riffs, it has a djenty vibe that is quite obvious all the way through. This track was influenced a bit from what we did on our past 'The Human Paradox' in terms of the balance between heavy riffs and melodies. On the lyrical aspect, the main topic of the track is about sci-fi stuff, talking about the possibilities of the existence of another civilization in the universe. We made the music relate to the lyrics in terms of chords choices and sonority." - Fractal Cypher

Each track has a different prominent genre influence from power ballad, blues, djent and jazz with the band’s heavy and melodic base as an anchor. The album artwork was done by Silent Q Design out of Montreal and foreshadows the moody and existential prog metal that lies within. Although this album is more intimate with different textures and influences, the reception to its predecessor should be a prime indication of the talents of Fractal Cypher; this next release is sure to be a masterwork.

Tracklisting:

“Coming Back To Life”
“The Grandeur Of It All”
“From The Above And To The Stars”
“Red Lady”

BAD RELIGION Returns With New Song, 'The Profane Rights Of Man'

BAD RELIGION Returns With New Song, 'The Profane Rights Of Man'

Punk rock legends BAD RELIGION have released a new single titled "The Profane Rights Of Man". A worried look at the state of human rights in America, the song continues the band's long-held commitment to incisively topical songwriting.

"The Profane Rights Of Man", featuring BAD RELIGION's signature breakneck rhythms, mournful harmonies, and serpentine guitar work, was produced by Brett Gurewitz and mixed by Gurewitz and Joe Barresi. The timely song is based on a historical document from 1789.

Vocalist and songwriter Greg Graffin explains: "The song is based on the 1789 document 'The Universal Rights Of Man'. Since we're a band that has a longstanding tradition of championing the enlightenment, we wanted to emphasize that our society is based on a profane rather than a sacred theological justification for human rights. In sum, the song is about BAD RELIGION's belief in a secular basis for the protection of human rights for all people."

Earlier this year, BAD RELIGION released "The Kids Are Alt-Right", a "catchy and deeply satisfying melody-surge about new permutations of racism" as reported by Stereogum. On October 27, BAD RELIGION will play at the Surf City Blitz festival in Huntington Beach, California. Bad Religion is currently in the studio working on new music.

b>BAD RELIGION began in the sprawling suburbs surrounding Los Angeles, with the teenage punks offering an impassioned counterpoint to a culture of consumerism and anti-intellectualism. Founding members Greg Graffin, Brett Gurewitz and Jay Bentley were eventually joined by guitarists Brian Baker of MINOR THREAT, Mike Dimkich of THE CULT, and the supremely talented drummer Jamie Miller of …AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD. Over the years, BAD RELIGION proved to be a major force in reinvigorating the modern punk movement, producing beloved international hits like "Infected", "21st Century (Digital Boy)" and "Sorrow", and building a devoted worldwide following.

Former MORBID ANGEL Frontman DAVID VINCENT Teams Up With Ex-MAYHEM Guitarist, CRYPTOPSY Drummer In VLTIMAS

Former MORBID ANGEL Frontman DAVID VINCENT Teams Up With Ex-MAYHEM Guitarist, CRYPTOPSY Drummer In VLTIMAS

Season Of Mist has announced the signing of VLTIMAS. The three-piece extreme metal formation, consisting of David Vincent (ex-MORBID ANGEL), Rune "Blasphemer" Eriksen (ex-MAYHEM, AURA NOIR) and Flo Monier (CRYPTOPSY), has completed the work on its debut album for an early 2019 release.

Eriksen comments: "Feels like aeons ago since I last ventured into these musical shores, but alas, here we are.

"It's been an intense year and a half with lots of planning, hard work, personal sacrifice and yeah, traveling. I believe I speak for all three of us on this matter. Nevertheless, the beast has been summoned and recorded and I am overly confident about the outcome.

"Having had the opportunity to work with some of the finest of craftsmen in the genre, the level of experience speaks volumes. The mutual understanding, vision and drive, everything as if for a greater purpose. That's how the end result sounds like to me.

A special thank you goes out to longtime partner in crime Michael Berberian and Season Of Mist for the immense belief in this entity, as well as my companion Jaime Gomez Arellano over at Orgone Studio (U.K.) for a job superbly done!

"We are VLTIMAS."

A short audio snippet of VLTIMAS's upcoming album is available below.

Vincent is also involved with I AM MORBID alongside fellow former MORBID ANGEL member Tim Yeung (drums), plus guitarists Bill Hudson (CIRCLE II CIRCLE, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA) and Ira Black (METAL CHURCH, LIZZY BORDEN).

Formed in 2016, I AM MORBID plays material from MORBID ANGEL's "Altars Of Madness" (1989), "Blessed Are The Sick" (1991), "Covenant" (1993) and "Domination" (1995) albums.

Vincent left MORBID ANGEL in 2015.

Watch Pro-Shot Video Of GREAT WHITE Performing 'Rock Me' With New Singer MITCH MALLOY

Watch Pro-Shot Video Of GREAT WHITE Performing 'Rock Me' With New Singer MITCH MALLOY

GREAT WHITE has released a performance video of the song "Rock Me", featuring the band's latest addition, singer Mitch Malloy. The clip was filmed on August 18 at the Kentucky State Fair at Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

GREAT WHITE guitarist Mark Kendall told KBACK Radio that the band wanted to make "a proper video and record a show with something other than a cellphone to kind of introduce Mitch. And our [booking] agent will use it for this and that, and we'll just throw it out there free — it's nothing we're gonna really put together to sell or anything; we just want people to see it properly and hear how it sounds at the show," he said. "Because when you hear a cellphone [recording], the guy [filming] might be over by the bass player's side and it might distort a little bit. So it really isn't a great representation, although we welcome the cellphones — I don't care if everybody holds 'em up and records us — but it's not really a great representation of what happened that night."

In early July, GREAT WHITE announced that it was parting ways with vocalist Terry Ilous and was replacing him with Malloy.

"[Mitch] is an incredible singer, artist, songwriter and engineer," Kendall said. "We're beyond excited to stretch our musical muscles with a fresh, new take on GREAT WHITE's catalog of hits."

dded Malloy: "I have to represent this music honorably. I respect what has come before me, and have to remind fans of where they were when they first heard these songs. I also have to be myself at the same time. When I first heard my own voice with GREAT WHITE's music, I knew something special was going on."

Keyboardist/guitarist Michael Lardie praised Malloy for his musical chops and reputation.

"We had an immediate rapport with Mitch," Lardie said. "I'm positive the fans will embrace Mitch and continue to support GREAT WHITE. This music is bigger than any one person."

Ilous, formerly of '80s L.A. hard rockers XYZ, joined GREAT WHITE in 2010 after stepping in for touring vocalist Jani Lane (WARRANT).

The Ilous-led GREAT WHITE released two albums, 2012's "Elation" and last year's "Full Circle", before Terry was shown the door.

This version of GREAT WHITE is not to be confused with JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE, which features original GREAT WHITE singer Jack Russell alongside Robby Lochner (FIGHT) on guitar, Dan McNay on bass, Tony Montana on guitar and Dicki Fliszar on drums.

NATTRAVNEN Featuring Ex-DEATH / MASSACRE, WOMBBATH Members Streaming New Track “Upon The Sound Of Her Wings”

Transcending Obscurity has set December 7th as the release date for Nattravnen's new album, Kult Of The Raven. Listen to new track "Upon The Sound Of Her Wings" below.

Original Death and Massacre vocalist Kam Lee gives one of his best performances here. Nattravnen is about the legend of Night Raven, for which Kam has written an actual story, in addition to complete lyrics of the album. Jonny Petterson of Heads For The Dead, Wombbath has created sublime music that is death metal laced with black metal and atmospheric doom elements, while being devastatingly heavy in his trademark style. Together the duo has concocted not only one of the most interesting death metal albums of this era, but also one with rare lasting value and superior musicianship.

This is essentially dark death metal with better expression and scope. Juanjo Castellano of Revel In Flesh and Carnation fame is responsible for the magnificent album artwork and even the label owner Kunal Choksi chipped in with the band logo. All in all, this is one of the most important releases to come out which sets new standards for the style altogether.

GOROD – Aethra Album Streaming In Full

GOROD – Aethra Album Streaming In Full

Technical metal icons Gorod recently announced their upcoming 10-track album, Aethra, set to be released this Friday, October 19th via their new international label, Overpowered Records. Gorod is streaming the full album:

Vocalist Julien Deyres says: "Here we are! We finally present our latest effort in its entirety! This one turned out to be a crazy challenge as it was not only the fastest-written Gorod album, but because we added a couple new songwriting elements too. We hope you will appreciate this 10-track journey as much as we do - we had a fantastic experience making it!"

Produced and recorded by Gorod guitarist / mastermind Mathieu Pascal in his own Bud Studio, mixed at Dugout Studio by the outstanding Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, Behemoth, Decapitated, In Flames) and mastered by Lawrence Mackrory at Obey Mastering (Decapitated, Nightrage), Aethra is a profound progression in terms of production, songwriting and arrangements.

With Aethra, Gorod transports the listener to a tragic and melancholic universe - a completely new level of darkness - while preserving what Gorod considers their tried and true core sound: incomparable groove, remarkable dexterity, and relentless technicality. But all the while, the band never sacrifices earworm hooks and unforgettable riffage.

Aethra tracklisting:

"Wolfsmond"
"Bekhten's Curse"
"Aethra"
"The Sentry"
"Hina"
"And The Moon Turned Black"
"Chandra And The Maiden"
"Goddess Of Dirt"
"Inexorable"
"A Light Unseen"

Vocalist Julien Deyres explains the concept behind Aethra, "The moon: a star, an allegory, a universal symbol that concerns all peoples and eras... this is the central theme of the lyrical concept of this album which is divided into ten texts that follow a form of parity in terms of genres: four titles are devoted to female lunar deities, four to male deities. The remaining two are respectively dealing with the universal symbolism of the owl and the star itself."

"The concept is basically a study of different cults associated with the moon through the ages and peoples. Some themes are treated in a purely narrative way, some others in a more philosophical or poetic way, but generally it remains a personal reading of each myth, which aims to awaken critical thought as much as evasion."

As a live band through and through, Gorod plan to bring their trademark power and precision to North America on a full tour in support of Aethra. Before coming to The States, Gorod will tour in Europe and The UK with headliners Beyond Creation, as well as fellow support artists Entheos and Brought By Pain. JETHRO TULL Announces First-Ever Official Book

JETHRO TULL Announces First-Ever Official Book

JETHRO TULL, the pioneering British prog rock group, has announced the launch of the band's first-ever official illustrated history.

"The Ballad Of Jethro Tull" will be a beautifully packaged, fully illustrated hardback book, printed in two editions: a "Classic" version; and a limited-run "Signature Edition", signed by Ian Anderson and featuring additional content.

The project is being overseen by JETHRO TULL founder and frontman Ian Anderson who, together with members and former members of the band, will contribute memories, personal photos, memorabilia, classic and previously unseen live photography, behind-the-scenes snaps, original press cuttings and album art.

Ian Anderson said: "It's been on my mind to find an effective way of telling the JETHRO TULL story and as we celebrate — in slight disbelief — our 50th anniversary, now seems as good a time as any to draw on the recollections of the very many musicians who played a part in JETHRO TULL. Some guys are sadly no longer with us and others will be hard to reach but this project will seek to provide the definitive JETHRO TULL story — as told by JETHRO TULL."

he announcement comes as JETHRO TULL continues its 50th-anniversary world tour, which will have seen the band play over 60 dates across Europe and the U.S. by the end of the year.

By registering at JethroTullBook.com potential buyers will be the first to get the news on the book's progress, become eligible for an early bird discount on both editions, and get the chance to have a name printed in the book.

"The Ballad Of Jethro Tull" will be published by Rocket 88, one of music's most innovative publishing houses, specializing in direct sales for the highest-quality, bespoke books. AMON AMARTH: Third Trailer For 'The Pursuit Of Vikings: 25 Years In The Eye Of The Storm'

AMON AMARTH: Third Trailer For 'The Pursuit Of Vikings: 25 Years In The Eye Of The Storm'

On November 16, AMON AMARTH will release its new documentary and supporting live album(s), "The Pursuit Of Vikings: 25 Years In The Eye Of The Storm" — which includes a retrospective documentary that features a wealth of live and behind-the-scenes content and extensive band interviews. This film tells the Swedish quintet's history, through both their own eyes and those of the fans that have supported them along the way. It is a thrilling collection that pays respect to the faithful, as well as making for a detailed and riveting introduction for those new to their inspiring story. Paired with this documentary is the live video/audio, which contains two different sets at 2017's Summer Breeze festival in Dinkelsbühl, Germany, capturing the unit at their very best.

The third trailer for "The Pursuit Of Vikings: 25 Years In The Eye Of The Storm" can be seen below.

Having played the German festival numerous times over the years, and loving the family vibe they have always experienced there, AMON AMARTH leapt at the chance to appear twice in the same year. Playing a secret, smaller scale set that focused primarily on older material, and then headlining the main stage with full production — including their giant sea serpent and lots of fire — allowed them to showcase their songs at their best, though putting together setlists from such a mighty catalog was not the easiest of tasks.

"For the first night, we wanted to write a set that the fans would enjoy by wholly diving into our back catalog but also keeping it interesting," explains guitarist Olavi Mikkonen. "But putting the two shows together also made us realize that we have a lot of songs to choose from!"

or the band, producer Alexander Milas (who contributed to Kerrang! and was an award-winning editor-in-chief of Metal Hammer, before starting his own creative solutions company, Twin V Ltd.) and director Phil Wallis, "The Pursuit Of Vikings" has been a true labor of love.

"I think I first became conscious of AMON AMARTH around the release of 2002's 'Versus The World'," Milas states. "It was a really transitional time for metal, and it seemed there wasn't a credible band on the heavier end of the scale that hadn't in some way responded to or been influenced by the pioneering sounds of the Swedish death metal scene, but I distinctly remember thinking that there was something unique about these guys: the artwork, the thematic underpinnings, even that curiously timeless logo."

While their sound certainly displays strong echoes of the nation that birthed them, AMON AMARTH arguably wield a unique aura, a "lusciously crafted escapism" that Milas likens to the classic bands he grew up with: DIO, IRON MAIDEN and others who exist on a spectrum of their own making.

ROGER GLOVER: 'I'm Dreading Life Without DEEP PURPLE'

ROGER GLOVER: 'I'm Dreading Life Without DEEP PURPLE'

DEEP PURPLE's Roger Glover says that he is not looking forward to the completion of the band's "The Long Goodbye" tour. The bassist, who is 72 now, told Music Radar in a new interview: "DEEP PURPLE has been such a presence in our lives for 50 years that none of us want it to end, but the realization is there that sooner or later we are going to have to stop. I'd love to go on and make another album. Emotionally, we're not ready to stop, so we could carry on for another four or five years."

Asked if he had any plans for life after DEEP PURPLE, Glover said: "Well, I know I'll always been involved in music, as a writer and as a producer. To be honest, I'm dreading life without DEEP PURPLE. I'm not looking forward to it at all. This has been my working life; I've never had a job. We don't have a final time to stop in mind. I don't know how much time I'll have after the band, but I'll carry on being creative."

Roger went on to say that he is planning on releasing his autobiography. "I've been working on one for about five years now," he said. "It's not easy, because I didn't want a ghostwriter, but I enjoy good writing, and it's a pleasure to write. It's hard to look back and capture who I was years ago. I look at videos of myself playing and I think, 'Who is that person?'

"It's not possible to capture what was in your mind at the time, because memories aren't always reliable," he added. "I've found a load of diaries from the '60s, and I've kept a journal for the last 30 years or so. I just have to work out what I did in the '70s."

b>"The Long Goodbye" started in May 2017 in Europe and included a North American leg with ALICE COOPER and EDGAR WINTER as well as another summer run with JUDAS PRIEST.

DEEP PURPLE's latest album, "InFinite", came out in April 2017 via earMUSIC.

The band — which had been eligible for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for two decades — finally entered the Rock Hall as part of the class of 2016. DEEP PURPLE's first three lineups were inducted, including drummer Ian Paice, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, late keyboardist Jon Lord, and various singers and bassists — Rod Evans; Ian Gillan and Roger Glover; and David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes.
