Canadian progressive sci-fi metal innovators VOIVOD will release another strictly limited seven-inch EP via Century Media Records on September 29.

Completing the vinyl release of the five songs featured on the "Post Society" mini-album, "Silver Machine" and will include the HAWKWIND cover version that serves as the EP's title track as well as the song "Post Society".

The "Silver Machine" EP is limited to a total of a thousand copies, split up as follows:

In the meantime, see you on the road!” "Post Society" EP was issued in February 2016 via Century Media. It was the follow-up to 2013's "Target Earth", which marked VOIVOD's first album of new material written without original guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour's leftover riffs.

Langevin told Metal Wani about the musical direction of the next VOIVOD album: "It's like in the vein of [the] 'Post Society' [EP]. So far, most of the songs are very long and progressive. We want to write a couple of short rockers to have a good blend, but so far, it's very intricate and progressive thrash metal with a bit of punk, as usual. It's still VOIVOD, it's a newer VOIVOD, but I think the spirit is intact… I mean, there are elements of all the periods, for sure, and it sounds like the 'Dimension Hatröss' era, but it's a new thing. [Bassist] Rocky [Dominique Laroche] and [guitarist] Chewy [Daniel Mongrain], they have their own way of approaching the music. They are really tight, surgical, so it makes me play differently. The thrash metal roots will always be there, except that we like to go into prog rock and psychedelia as well."

U.K. cult legends ELECTRIC WIZARD will release their new album, "Wizard Bloody Wizard", on November 10 via Spinefarm. The LP is described in a press release as "forty-three minutes of cranium-crushing bludgeon rock, a relentless aural brain rape and, like the band's beloved vintage horror/exploitation movies, definitely not for those of a nervous disposition." Finally rising above convention and genre, the band have constructed their own vision of classic heavy rock, a sound harking back to the dreaded days when "heavy" meant GRAND FUNK and BLACK SABBATH and "rock" meant drugs, groupies and mountains of amplification. "Right away we knew this was it… the new direction we should go in," says ELECTRIC WIZARD guitarist/vocalist Jus Oborn. "Real heavy music… really basic heavy rock, blues-based but brutal.

"I think a lot of modern heavy music has disappeared up its own arse… it's too pretentious and technical. We wanted to get back to that primal sound… over-amplified blues… Hendrix, BLUE CHEER, ZEPPELIN. They took that music and then turned it up… so we thought let's do the blues in our style. Heavy, heavy super-fuckin' blues, total snail-paced funeral boogie for this twenty-first-century hell. I guess it's meant to be hopeless but it's also defiant and unbroken." Even though the LP promises "hymns to death, drugs, sex and violence," the overall vibe is a band that is revitalized and ready to kill. The sound is aggressive, stripped back and savage, as if the new line-up has mainlined a new level of attitude and ability. "Y'know, a lot of bad shit has happened to us, but through it all was the music," Oborn says. "We still dig loud heavy music and the album is not really depressed or angry, it's arrogant and rebellious. I still believe in rock and roll and I still believe in killing it on stage and mentally destroying an audience." And the band sounds together — really together. The last three years of touring, writing and rehearsing have honed and moulded a new sound that has truly distilled the ELECTRIC WIZARD brew. In forty-three brain-damaging minutes, the band delivers a varied, challenging and breath-taking LP, from crushing blues stomp through savage Detroit sleaze rock, paranoiac passages of droning drug rock and creepy funereal proto-metal/acidrock. "We've been worn out by the modern scene — it's all about styles and genre," Oborn says. "We just wanna make solid heavy music… no rules. We didn't set out to record a style or product. We set out to record what we wanted to hear.

"I want people to know it's ELECTRIC WIZARD from the first second, but also to know we are gonna take them on a trip.

"Heavy doesn't just mean tone and bottom end… I think people have become too obsessed by FX and boutique amps. It's more about playing style, attitude and songwriting…

"Y'know, a lot of our songs have been interpreted as acoustic numbers by various people and they are still heavy and ominous sounding… You can't dilute true darkness." The LP's stunning all analog recording has been produced by Oborn and Liz Buckingham (guitar) in their own Satyr IX Recording Studio. "It's an anti-studio really," Oborn explains. "We wanted to put as little between the band and the tape as possible. We needed to take stuff away and use less equipment, 'cause I think the raw sound of the band is killer.

"Studios have progressively made the recording situation more difficult and convoluted. I always think the best recordings are the simplest and most basic ones. So, yeah, we built the studio that we wanted… mics, mixing desk, tape machine… that's it. No bullshit." The LP sleeve and art has also been conceived by the band and echoes, again, their love of the macabre, evil and sleazy. A sick and twisted bad taste eye-assault that aims to titillate, excite and repulse you. "Sex and violence are our basest instincts," Oborn says. "I guess we think that engaging the brain and guts on this most basic, primal level is the fastest way to grab people's emotions… It's 'shock' tactics, but the world is so fuckin' brainwashed or bored that they need to be 'woken up'. The 'man' is slowly neutering and killing us with technology and lies… It's time to fight back."

Former WHITE LION singer Mike Tramp will release a new box set, "This & That (But A Whole Lot More)", on December 1 in a limited edition of a thousand copies worldwide. The box set contains five CDs and one DVD with previously unreleased material from Tramp's long career, but with brand new stuff as well.

For "This & That (But A Whole Lot More)", Tramp and his BAND OF BROTHERS have created this real rock 'n' roll banger "Work It All Out" that comes with a behind-the-scenes video.

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES have announced the addition of guitarist Jonas Stålhammar to the group's ranks. He joins the band as the replacement for co-founding guitarist Anders Björler, who left AT THE GATES in March.

Says AT THE GATES: "We have finally decided on a new guitar player, and we are ready to rip again! Actually, he was our first choice, and we are happy to have him on board.

"Jonas Stålhammar has been a friend since the late eighties (Tomas [Lindberg, vocals] used to tape trade with him back then!), and our paths have crossed many times during our careers.

"We were looking for someone who had the same reference points as we do, someone from the same path, so to say, who understand the greatness of both AUTOPSY and KING CRIMSON. Of course, it was essential that our new member could fill the shoes of Anders performance-wise as well, but that was never an issue with Jonas. We were looking for someone with a deep understanding of what AT THE GATES are about, someone who could contribute creatively to the band.

"Jonas Stålhammar will be a full member from day one, and will play on the upcoming full length album, scheduled for recording in November 2017 - January 2018.

"We currently have eleven songs ready for said album, and are more inspired than perhaps ever before.

"You can expect a full-on AT THE GATES record with all the classic elements of the band. It is by far the most comprehensive album of the band to date, and will span all the way across the different elements of the band's sound.

Lindberg recently told Metal Wani about the writing process for the next AT THE GATES album: "We are all very eager to get this done. The one that has stepped up so far is, of course, Jonas [Björler, bass], who wrote about forty percent of both [2014's comeback album] 'At War With Reality' and [1995's] 'Slaughter Of The Soul', so he stepped in as the main songwriter now, and the stuff that he's put on the table so far is amazing, basically. It really captures exactly the essence of what AT THE GATES is. I mean, 'At War With Reality' was a good album for us, a strong album, but I think this one is more focused on just being us."

Regarding the musical direction of the new AT THE GATES material, Tomas said: "There's been a lot of discussions, and, as I said, a very creative, inspired atmosphere right now. I would say that we are, again, in a sense, as with 'At War With Reality', trying to really grasp what AT THE GATES is. Maybe a little bit more again even further back to the roots a little bit to see what aspects of AT THE GATES we could put in the AT THE GATES of today and make it a whole record, so to say, to present as we are now. But I think there will be some surprises for people in a very good way. So far it's a very coherent, very strong album, [with] very strong songs."

AT THE GATES' comeback album, "At War With Reality", was released in October 2014 via Century Media. The CD, which sold 7,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 53 on The Billboard 200 chart, was recorded at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg and was mixed at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden with Jens Bogren (OPETH, KATATONIA, SOILWORK, PARADISE LOST, KREATOR).

The Israeli progressive folk metal masters will release a new studio album on January 26, 2018 via Century Media Records. Most parts of the disc, which will be titled "Unsung Prophets And Dead Messiahs", have already been recorded and Jens Bogren will once again take over mixing and mastering duties of what is to be destined to become the band's best and biggest production so far. "Unsung Prophets And Dead Messiahs" will feature a guest appearance of guitar virtuoso Steve Hackett and more specials will be announced soon.

"Lips Of Rain", the new video from STEELHEART — the brainchild of Miljenko Matijevic, whose powerful voice and multi-octave range is the heart and soul of the band — can be seen below. The song is taken from the group's new album, "Through Worlds Of Stardust", which will be released on September 15 via Frontiers Music Srl.

Directed by Matijevic, the "Lips Of Rain" clip was partly filmed at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Other footage was shot in the Malibu hills.

Starting life in the early 1970s, US band Pentagram are one of the most enduring and influential underground bands in heavy metal history. The new SLIPKNOT documentary "Day Of The Gusano" will be released on DVD/Blu-ray on October 20 via Eagle Rock Entertainment.

Directed by SLIPKNOT's own M. Shawn Crahan, a.k.a. Clown, "Day Of The Gusano" documents the Iowa band's first-ever visit to Mexico in December 2015 and features exclusive interviews with SLIPKNOT's members talking about the importance of their fanbase and the band's long-awaited first-ever show in Mexico City.

Talking about the movie, Clown said: "SLIPKNOT still has dreams for itself. Finally playing Mexico was one of them. It's been a surreal life of rock and roll for SLIPKNOT and the fact that the dreams still go on for us is simply incredible. Thank you." Guitarist Jim Root adds: "We had such a great time at Knotfest Mexico... Not only with all the friends and bands that were there, but with the fans and the crowd we had to document it with. Now we get to share it with the world." "Day Of The Gusano" was premiered in more than a thousand screens across the world as a one-night-only cinematic spectacle on September 6.

SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor told the 97.1 The Eagle radio station in June that the band was "not really doing anything right now." He explained: "I know we're kind of slowly starting to write some music. Other than that, we're just kind of taking some time off. Clown's gonna direct some movies, Sid's gonna do some stuff… We're all kind of doing our own thing… But that's it. I mean, really. Next year is everybody kind of doing their own thing, and then probably after that, we will slowly but surely start to get together to do some SLIPKNOT stuff."

SLIPKNOT's touring cycle in support of ".5: The Gray Chapter", ended in November, with Taylor returning to his other band STONE SOUR this year.

".5: The Gray Chapter" was released following a six-year hiatus during which founding SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray died and drummer Joey Jordison was dismissed.

One of last gigs of "The Gray Chapter" touring cycle saw SLIPKNOT performing its 2001 second LP, "Iowa", live in its entirety for the first time during the band's set at their annual Knotfest.

".5: The Gray Chapter" sold around 132,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores in October 2014 via Roadrunner.

Gray died in 2010 from a drug overdose, while Jordison was let go in December 2013, just before SLIPKNOT began recording the last album.

Toothgrinder have announced their new album, Phantom Amour, out November 10th via Spinefarm Records. It follows Nocturnal Masquerade, the band's 2015 debut which set the stage for Toothgrinder and allowed them to join New Jersey's long and elite lineage of game-changing metal acts. 

"The endless war with one's own subconscious is something that all of us can relate to," said singer Justin Matthews. "The ebb and flow of life can either drive us in a positive direction or drag us straight to hell. The Shadow expresses this concept from my perspective. Six months after the release of their self-titled album, Edmonton-based shredders Striker are back at the top of their game with a brand new video for the opening track, “Former Glory”. And the kickass result perfectly reflects the message conveyed by the song: going at it full speed in a better shape than ever.

Striker is on a one-month North American tour with Dark Tranquillity and Warbringer, continuing tonight, September 8th, in Ybor City, FL. The band will play Europe again next year with a new album to present to their fans.

Doom rock legends The Obsessed have shared an acoustic performance of “On So Long” recorded live at the Gibson Guitar Recording Studio in New York. The song is a bonus track off the band’s recently released Sacred full-length album.

Additionally, The Obsessed has announced a headlining U.S. fall Tour starting September 27th in Asheville, NC and ending October 27th in Baltimore, MD. Direct support will be provided by Cobalt and Iron Tongue on select dates.

Canadian hardcore/punk outfit Comeback Kid have released their new album, Outsider, via New Damage Records in Canada and Nuclear Blast throughout the rest of the world. A new video for the track “Hell Of A Scene” can be seen below.

Commented the band: "'Hell Of A Scene' was intended to be a song brighter in mood. We always had a laugh writing and playing this song in rehearsals, but it always felt right. One of my favourites on the new album. We shot this video in Aalborg, Denmark while on tour this last summer during some down time an afternoon before a show that night. It was very on the fly and spontaneous. Pleased to premiere it on our album release day.

"To release our 6th studio album, with a fresh start on Nuclear Blast / New Damage is a significant moment for us. It really feels like we are starting a whole new chapter with the band. Former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal performed Paul McCartney, IRON MAIDEN, KISS and GUNS N' ROSES classics during his September 7 solo acoustic concert at the Twice Café in Shinsaibashi, Osaka, Japan. Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.

Thal recently said that he agonized over his decision to leave GUNS N' ROSES three years ago, explaining that he "wanted it to be something that [he] knew it wasn't ever gonna be."

Thal never officially announced his departure from the GN'R, but a source confirmed to Detroit music writer Gary Graff back in 2015 that the guitarist had been out since the end of the band's second Las Vegas residency in 2014.

Thal later revealed that he was focusing on his solo career and other projects after spending eight years playing in GUNS.

Thal joined GUNS N' ROSES in 2006 and played on 2008's "Chinese Democracy", an album which contained music that had been written before he came into the group. He has also released a number of solo CDs.

Thal is currently involved with ART OF ANARCHY alongside CREED singer Scott Stapp and DISTURBED bassist John Moyer. He is also playing in SONS OF APOLLO, in which he is joined by former DREAM THEATER members Mike Portnoy and Derek Sherinian alongside Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (ex-GUNS N' ROSES), Billy Sheehan (THE WINERY DOGS, MR. BIG, DAVID LEE ROTH) and Jeff Scott Soto (ex-JOURNEY, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN'S RISING FORCE).

With a legendary career as a hit-making musician, solid-body electric guitar trailblazer, and an inventor of unprecedented recording techniques, he has impacted and influenced the many facets of the music industry like none other. Columbus, Ohio metalcore giants LIKE MOTHS TO FLAMES will release their new album, "Dark Divine", on November 3 via longtime label Rise Records. The follow-up to 2015's "The Dying Things We Live For" was produced by Erik Ron at Grey Area Studios and mixed by Caleb Shomo (BEARTOOTH).

CRADLE OF FILTH frontman Dani Filth says that Gene Simmons is an "idiot" for attempting to trademark the so-called "devil's horns" hand gesture.

The KISS bassist/vocalist withdrew his application to trademark the symbol in late June — less than two weeks after filing with the federal copyright office.

Most music fans slammed Simmons for the trademark request, saying the symbol has become ubiquitous and means different things to different people.

Ronnie James Dio's widow Wendy also criticized Simmons for attempting to trademark the hand sign. She told TheWrap: "To try to make money off of something like this is disgusting. It belongs to everyone — it doesn't belong to anyone. It's a public domain, it shouldn't be trademarked."

Asked by France's Duke TV for his thoughts on Simmons's trademark attempt, Dani said (see video below): "I think Wendy Dio said that Ronnie did it first, but it didn't belong to him either. It's an ancient symbol.

"Gene Simmons is just an idiot," he continued. "If he could, he'd patent the air. Do you know what I mean? I'm sure he's invented everything anyway — the lightbulb; it wasn't Edison, it was [Gene]. Trees, he invented them. Shoes, walking… I attribute everything to the great Gene Simmons."

In his original request, which was filed on June 9, Simmons described the sign as consisting "of a hand gesture with the index and small fingers extended upward and the thumb extended perpendicular." He paid $275, seeking to use the hand signal symbol for "Entertainment, namely, live performances by a musical artist; personal appearances by a musical artist."

Gene claimed the gesture was first used in commerce on November 14, 1974, which corresponded to KISS's "Hotter Than Hell" tour. He wrote in his signed declaration that he believed "no other person, firm, corporation or association has the right to use said mark in commerce, either in the identical form or in such near resemblance."

Gene has been unapologetic about his trademark attempt, telling Windsor Star last month: "I regret nothing. Wake up every morning and let your conscience be your guide.

"Did you know I own the money bag logo?" he continued. "The dollar sign with the bag of money. I own all kinds of things. I own 'motion pictures' as a trademark. Anyone who thinks that's silly — the silliest thing I've ever done is wear more makeup and higher heels than your mommy. People said, 'You can't do that.' Actually, bitch — I can. I can do anything I want to do."

It's unclear why Simmons suddenly withdrew his application to trademark the gesture but it's unlikely he would have succeeded anyway.

Copyright lawyer Ronald Abrams told Forbes that such hand gestures can't be trademarked unless they are part of a logo. Trademark attorney Michael Cohen with Cohen IP Law Group in Beverly Hills, who deals with trademark, patent and copyright infringement cases, concurred, telling the Los Angeles Times that it would have been very difficult for Simmons's application to be approved because the gesture has become "genericized."

Simmons's version of the gesture is actually "I love you" in American Sign Language, with the thumb extended, rather than the thumb holding two middle fingers close to the palm.

Ted Nugent has slammed Sebastian Bach as "stupid" and "inconsequential" after the former SKID ROW singer implied that the outspoken conservative rocker was racist.

In his 2016 memoir, "18 And Life On Skid Row", Bach wrote about how Nugent, whom he considered to be one of his musical idols, allegedly went on a racist tirade on the set of the VH1 reality show "SuperGroup", causing Sebastian to step into the role of unlikely hero to the African-American crew by walking out and going to the producer, refusing to continue working with the Nuge.

During a brand new interview with QFM96's "Torg & Elliott" radio show, Nugent was asked if he had heard about Bach's comments. He responded (hear audio below): "No, I have not heard that. He falls in the 'inconsequential' column. It's true — the guy smokes so much dope. People like Sebastian Bach will literally listen to me praise Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley and Little Richard and James Brown and Wilson Pickett, they'll listen to me praise these black artists and literally call it racist. I mean, how much dope do you have to smoke to be that stupid?"

He continued: "Literally, I'm the one during that TV show that pounded home that we cannot lose touch with our black founding fathers, that if you don't have that groove of the black artists, if you don't have the Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley and Little Richard and James Brown groove, your music is worthless. That's what I drove home. And he would call that being a racist? This is funnier than Richard Pryor's afro catching fire. I mean, how stupid can you get?"

"SuperGroup" followed five well-known hard rock and heavy metal musicians — Bach, Nugent, ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian, ex-BIOHAZARD bassist/vocalist Evan Seinfeld and drummer Jason Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN, BONHAM, UFO, FOREIGNER) — over a twelve-day period during which they lived together in a Las Vegas mansion in order to create, plan and perform a live show together.

In a 2012 interview with Metal-Rules.com, Bach stated about Nugent: "To be honest with you, I think that Ted's political beliefs and social opinions overshadow how great a guitar player he is. More people know Ted for his outrageous views and political viewpoints. His music is so great, but a lot of people are disgusted by him. They don't like guns. People don't like racism, but he says some things that are from the '50s. People don't think like that anymore; it's not acceptable. It's a shame because I love his music and he is funny as hell. He is so abrasive with his beliefs, it takes the fun out of it."

Nugent told Radio.com in 2014 that Bach was "incredibly gifted" and "a gentleman for the most part," but he called the former SKID ROW singer "weak." Nugent explained: "[Sebastian] doesn't understand the concept of the [body as a] Sacred Temple. He doesn't understand accountability. He doesn't understand — clearly — how his indulgences and his poisons ruin his life. And his relationships, and his marriage. And his musical capabilities. I love the guy and if he's watching this, I love you, but when you're the drunk Sebastian Bach, you're nowhere near the Sebastian Bach that you are when you're clean and sober. Case closed. That isn't a Ted Nugent opinion, that's scientific truism."

Former MORBID ANGEL and current I AM MORBID/HEADCAT frontman David Vincent says "disagreements" with his now-ex-MORBID ANGEL bandmates won't prevent him from performing the songs he co-wrote.

Vincent, who left MORBID ANGEL in 2015, launched I AM MORBID last year as a way to play material solely from his former band's "Altars Of Madness" (1989), "Blessed Are The Sick" (1991), "Covenant" (1993) and "Domination" (1995) albums.

In an interview with Canal Metal conducted at the tenth edition of the Alcatraz Hard Rock & Metal Festival, which was held August 11-13 in Kortrijk, Belgium, Vincent was asked why I AM MORBID has started to become more active. "Here's the thing: I wrote a lot of songs and there are some very important records and I'm not going to allow disagreements with former [bandmates] to change my ability to perform [MORBID ANGEL songs]," he said (see video below). "They're like children. Just because the parents get divorced, doesn't mean the parents don't care about them."

In addition to I AM MORBID, Vincent currently fronts HEADCAT, the rockabilly outfit once fronted by MOTÖRHEAD mainman Lemmy Kilmister. He also has an outlaw country project under his own name that released a single, "Drinking With The Devil", earlier this year.

"I'm doing a lot of things," David said. "I've really just opened up musically. All of it is important to me, so I'm doing anything that I want to do, I'm going to do it. I'm not going to do things that I don't want to do."

When asked if he had any side projects while he was in MORBID ANGEL, David said: "No. I did not. I've done some various over the years, but this is all me. But see, I'm a bit complicated, so I just decided to give each sort of area of my interests a certain amount of attention. That's how I roll."

Vincent was then asked to reflect on MORBID ANGEL's early days when they were a part of the American death metal scene that also featured the likes of DEATH, DEICIDE and OBITUARY. "You know, a lot of it I don't remember," David said. "I'd say that not as a substance abuser. There's a lot of times when people remind me of things. 'Hey, you remember that day…' Actually, I do. People jog my memory and I'm, like, 'Yeah.' It was a lot of fun. It was a lot of hard work. We didn't have people helping us. In fact, we had people who wanted to do the opposite and just tell us no. It was hard to find the doors to open because we believed in it and with purpose and determination, like warriors, we went in and made it happen. And here we are today."

Vincent also addressed his personal relation to MORBID ANGEL's lyrics that often touched upon the occult and satanic topics. He was also asked if he ever had any confrontations from people taking offense to the band's overt lyrics and themes. "I don't think it's a reaction; I think it's pro-action," David said. "It's proactive. I am who I am, I believe what I believe. I'm not ashamed of what I believe and of course, it's a big part of who I am. It drives me. I don't have any trouble with it anywhere. I'm just me. I don't look for it. Sometimes it finds me and I deal with it when those times come, but, I mean, people want to talk to me about stuff, I'm happy to have a friendly discussion, but I don't get into arguments with people about what they believe. Everybody believes what they believe. I believe what I believe and that's fine."

The new version of HEADCAT recently recorded a heartfelt and rockin' tribute to Lemmy, appropriately titled "Born To Lose, Live To Win". The song was released digitally worldwide on June 23 and was made available on a very limited-edition seven-inch single (only three hundred copies pressed). The seven-inch vinyl singles were available at the band's European shows this August, including at Wacken Open Air, where the band performed two sets throughout the weekend.

Joining Vincent in I AM MORBID is former MORBID ANGEL drummer Tim Yeung alongside guitarists Bill Hudson (CIRCLE II CIRCLE, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA) and Ira Black (METAL CHURCH, LIZZY BORDEN).

Finnish modern hard rockers SANTA CRUZ will release their third album, "Bad Blood Rising", on November 10 via M-Theory Audio. The band already released the record's infectious first single, "River Phoenix", earlier this summer, but Friday, September 15 brings the next digital single release with "Young Blood Rising"; a promo video will follow soon in the coming weeks.

"We are really excited to start working with M-Theory Audio, and be part of a new label and new team," says SANTA CRUZ singer Archie Cruz.

Praised this year by Rolling Stone magazine as "one of the Top 10 bands you need to know" for their "debaucherous, flamboyant flair," SANTA CRUZ was formed with the mutual aspiration of playing their rear ends off and kicking people's derrieres. Inspired initially by the likes of MÖTLEY CRÜE and GUNS N' ROSES, the young act developed a strong buzz through stupefying live shows and two well-received albums on Spinefarm Records where they took their throwback hard rock sound and combined it with elements of modern rock, punk and metal, put it in their own special blender, then iced the mix with blinding energetic performances and a healthy dash of bad attitude!

SANTA CRUZ guitarist Johnny stated about "Bad Blood Rising": "This album has probably both the heaviest and the softest SANTA CRUZ moments on it.

"We didn't intentionally try to come up with something totally different than before, but I guess some of the new influences we've picked up along the way can be heard on these songs. At the end of the day, the apple didn't fall all that far from the tree.

"People can still expect the SANTA CRUZ sound — the fast guitars and heavy drums are still there, just served with a different sauce.

"All in all, we see 'Bad Blood Rising' as a 'comeback album'. A start of a new era. It's like what Archie is singing in 'River Phoenix': 'We're going down like River Phoenix, to rise up from the ashes once again.'" SANTA CRUZ's eponymous second album debuted at No. 3 on the Finnish chart upon its release in 2015 and featured "We Are The Ones To Fall", the most aired song of the year on the Finnish station Radio Rock. The band also appeared in a Mercedes-Benz commercial and on the AXS TV show "Breaking Bands".

SANTA CRUZ has toured extensively around the world, including three jaunts to America, where they performed with AMARANTHE, I PREVAIL and Sebastian Bach, as well as before thousands at the Rock On The Range festival in 2015.

The band has a European tour set for November/December, with plans to return to the U.S. in the new year.

Major League Baseball's Atlanta Braves have apologized for playing the SCORPIONS' 1984 hit "Rock You Like A Hurricane" between innings during the team's home game against the Miami Marlins this past Thursday. The song was deemed inappropriate because it was played over the SunTrust Park P.A. system during a game against a team from an area where more than half a million people have been ordered to evacuate because of an incoming hurricane.

According to the Miami Herald, the Braves later apologized for the song choice, saying it is on the regular playlist for home games but should have been removed for this series.

Naturally, a number of people expressed their displeasure with the Braves on social media, with one person calling the move "so unclassy" and another saying that the team deserves the "poor-taste award."

This is not the first time "Rock You Like A Hurricane" made headlines for being played at a major sporting event. In 2006, the song generated controversy when it was used by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleaders in their halftime routine during a game against the New Orleans Saints. Some attending the game saw the song as offensive, given the extensive damage caused to New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina.

As of 8 a.m. Saturday morning, Hurricane Irma, the most powerful Atlantic storm in a decade, was about 225 miles from Miami, moving west-northwest at 12 mph.

Florida's west coast faces threats of severe flooding when Irma makes landfall as a Category 4 storm, which is expected to happen between early Sunday and early Monday.

"Rock You Like A Hurricane" was released as the lead single from SCORPIONS' ninth studio album, "Love At First Sting".

DISTURBED frontman David Draiman performed his band's Grammy-nominated cover of SIMON & GARFUNKEL's "The Sound Of Silence" at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California.

The event, which was held on June 27, was organized by Creative Community For Peace (CCFP), an organization comprised of prominent members of the entertainment industry devoted to promoting the arts as a means to peace and to countering the cultural boycott of Israel.

Warner Bros. Records sponsored the event with co-hosts Evan Lamberg, president of North America Universal Publishing and CCFP advisory board members Neil Jacobson, president of Geffen Records; Zach Katz, president repertoire and marketing, BMG; Rick Krim, co-president of Sony/ATV Publishing; David Lonner, CEO of Oasis Media Group; and David Renzer, chairman of Spirit Music Group.

Guests included chairman and chief executive of Warner Bros. Records Cameron Strang, president of Shout Factory, Bob Emmer, leading entertainment attorneys David Byrnes, Jeffrey Light, Craig Emanuel, Aton Ben Horin from Warner Bros./ Atlantic Records, and film producer Howard Rosenman, as well as executives from Variety, Warner Bros., and many others.

After his performance, Draiman, who is a CCFP member, urged his colleagues to continue their efforts to make sure music is never silenced. "I encourage each one of you to support the exchanging of ideas, culturally, spiritually, philosophically and politically with everyone on the face of this planet," he said. "Let's teach ourselves how to build those bridges of peace."

Consul General of Israel Sam Grundwerg shared a special message of the importance of music and the arts in bringing people together.

At the event's conclusion, guests were given a private viewing and tour of "Paul Simon Words & Music", an exhibit organized by the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Museum.

DISTURBED's cover version of "The Sound Of Silence" was officially certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association Of America on May 26, commemorating more than two million units' worth of sales and streams.

The video for DISTURBED's version of "Silence", which was released in December 2015, has been seen more than 271 million times, a record number of views on YouTube for the group.

Canadian singer Avril Lavigne took the stage for the first time in three years last night (Friday, September 8) to perform the song "Rockstar" with NICKELBACK during the band's concert at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Also appearing with them was a fan named Owen, who was plucked out of the audience by NICKELBACK guitarist Ryan Peake.

NICKELBACK tweeted after the show: "You never know who will join us for 'Rockstar' karaoke. And tonight we got super lucky with these two rockstars. It just might be you next!"

Avril was married to NICKELBACK frontman Chad Kroeger for two years before the pair decided to split in 2015. They tied the knot in Canada in July 2013.

In 2015, Lavigne disclosed her debilitating battle with Lyme disease while Kroeger had a cyst removed from his vocal cords.

NICKELBACK is continuing to tour in support of it s ninth album, "Feed The Machine", which was released on June 16 via BMG.

As previously reported, METALLICA frontman James Hetfield narrowly avoided serious injury at the Amsterdam concert. METALLICA was performing the sixth song of its set, "Now That We're Dead", when Hetfield apparently took a wrong step and fell into a small hole on the stage that had just opened up, where one of four rectangular percussion tables was supposed to come up.

A couple of crew members came over within seconds to help Hetfield get back on his feet as bassist Robert Trujillo and guitarist Kirk Hammett looked on with concern. After Hetfield was lifted back on stage, he continued playing the track while grimacing in pain.

The frontman asked the audience after the incident, "Is everybody okay? Yes, I'm okay. My ego, not so much. But we're fine. Hurt my feelings a little bit."

This is not the first stage accident that Hetfield has been involved in. During a 1992 stadium tour with GUNS N' ROSES, Hetfield suffered second-degree burns to his face, arms and hands after onstage pyro erupted too close to him during the song "Fade To Black".

The European leg of METALLICA's "WorldWired" tour kicked off in Denmark on September 2 and will run through November. After a break, the trek will pick up again on February 1, 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal, and continue through May, finishing up in Helsinki, Finland.

According to Van Halen News Desk, Gene Simmons's long-promised box set of previously unreleased solo material, "The Vault", will contain three KISS demos that he recorded with the Van Halen brothers — guitarist Eddie and drummer Alex.

Gene reportedly sings and plays bass on the material, which was laid down in 1977 at the Village Recorders studio in Los Angeles during the writing sessions for KISS's "Love Gun" album.

Gene, Eddie and Alex cut "Christine Sixteen" and "Got Love For Sale", both of which appeared on "Love Gun", and "Tunnel Of Love", a tune Simmons would re-record for his 1978 eponymous solo album.

"They did me a favor," Simmons told Rolling Stone in a 2016 interview. "We recorded three songs I had written. I was in Los Angeles between tours, and I called Alex and Ed: 'Listen, I got three songs. I'm going in at 2 a.m. Do you want to come down and help me?' Usually, I play the guitars and the drums to the extent I can and put down all the parts. But I wanted to do three songs instead of one. So we did 'Christine Sixteen', and I put the keyboards on, everything else. And Ed did the solo to the rhythm guitar, bass, and Alex was on drums."

"When I brought the songs to [the rest of KISS], unfortunately for Ace [Frehley, original KISS guitarist], I forced him to learn Eddie's solo note for note," Simmons continued. "He wasn't fond of it, but in retrospect, it's the right solo. It's not the same old blues thing."

Simmons has released two solo albums and also written for and with other artists, including Bob Dylan and Donna Summer.

"I've always written 'outside' stuff," he explained in response to a fan question on his official web site back in 2009. "But KISS is KISS. And that means the outside stuff winds up on solo albums, or I keep it in the drawer."

Simmons's sophomore solo album, "Asshole", sold around 13,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release back in 2004 to land at position No. 86 on The Billboard 200 chart. Like Gene's 1978 self-titled solo album, "Asshole" featured a number of outside songwriting contributions and guest appearances. Bob Dylan and Gene co-wrote the album's "Waiting For The Morning Light". Frank Zappa and Gene share co-writing credit on "Black Tongue" and the Zappa Family, Dweezil, Ahmet, Moon, Gail and Frank Zappa himself sing and play guitar on the song.

QUIET RIOT's new album, "Road Rage", was released on August 4 via Frontiers Music Srl.

The band is is led by drummer Frankie Banali, who is joined by bassist Chuck Wright (who has been in and out of the group since 1982), guitarist Alex Grossi (who has been in the band since 2004), and new vocalist James Durbin.

Durbin, who became known as the "metal guy" on 2011's season of "American Idol" after performing "Living After Midnight" and "Breaking The Law" with JUDAS PRIEST, hooked up with QUIET RIOT after the dismissal of Seann Nicols (a.k.a. Sheldon Tarsha; formerly of ADLER'S APPETITE). Nicols was with QUIET RIOT for just a few months, but long enough to record the vocals for an early version of "Road Rage".

"Road Rage" was originally scheduled for release in the spring of 2017, but with the injection of newfound energy for the band with the addition of Durbin in the vocalist slot, the band decided to scrap the original sessions and record a new version of the album with the new and improved lineup.

An attorney for the Polish extreme metal band DECAPITATED has claimed their innocence in the alleged kidnapping a woman after their concert in Spokane on August 31.

Spokane Police Department spokeswoman Cpl. Teresa Fuller told The Spokesman-Review that a woman reported the alleged kidnapping by the musicians to police just before 2 a.m. on September 1. The woman is believed to have attended DECAPITATED's concert with THY ART IS MURDER at The Pin concert venue in downtown Spokane as part of the two bands' "Double Homicide" tour.

Defense attorney Steve Graham, who was hired by the band on Thursday after they became aware of the investigation, told The Spokesman-Review: "There is another side to this. We have witnesses that can testify to the fact that the accuser came to visit band of her own free will and left on good terms."

Graham said he told police that the band members had offered to surrender but never heard anything back. "I made it clear that I could get the guys up here ASAP and they would cooperate," he said.

The DECAPITATED bandmembers — identified as 27-year-old Michael M. Lysejko, 35-year-old Waclaw J. Kieltyka, 31-year-old Rafal T. Piotrowski and 30-year-old Hubert E. Wiecek — were arrested early Saturday following their concert at The Observatory in Santa Ana, California. They are in the Los Angeles County Jail awaiting extradition to Spokane. Fuller said additional charges are possible.

DECAPITATED has been touring North America in support of its seventh album, "Anticult", which was released on July 7 via Nuclear Blast.

Peaceville Records has set an October 20 release date for the thirtieth-annniersary edition of CANDLEMASS's "Nightfall", one of the all-time classic doom metal albums.

Legendary Swedish band CANDLEMASS — formed in 1984 — is known for its influential "epic doom metal" sound, which evolved out of the masterful BLACK SABBATH. Released in 1987, "Nightfall" was the second CANDLEMASS studio album. Alongside the band's debut, "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus", "Nightfall" was instrumental in shaping the birth of the still thriving doom metal scene. On "Nightfall", making his debut with the band was vocalist Jan Alfredo Marcolin, better known as Messiah Marcolin, who became highly respected due to his powerful, soaring and theatrical tones. This deluxe anniversary edition includes previously unreleased alternate rough mixes of the album, tracks from the studio sessions, plus a rare rehearsal recording from 1987 featuring renditions of songs prior to the album being recorded. The sixteen-page booklet contains text recounting the events of the period from the recent "Behind The Wall Of Doom" book release, as well as liner notes from founder Leif Edling recording his thoughts on "Nightfall" reaching such a prestigious milestone, and the album's influential place in metal history.
