PEARL JAM Reissuing More Albums On Vinyl

PEARL JAM Reissuing More Albums On Vinyl

According to The Pulse Of Radio, PEARL JAM is reissuing its albums "Binaural", "Riot Act" and "Avocado" — a.k.a. its self-titled eighth studio album — on vinyl for the first time, with each LP remastered and "Avocado" remixed by producer Brendan O'Brien. The band is also reissuing a slew of seven-inch vinyl singles and is making the vinyl editions all ten of its studio albums available in one complete box set. All will arrive on November 10.

PEARL JAM has previously released vinyl editions of its first five studio albums — "Ten", "Vs.", "Vitalogy", "No Code" and "Yield" — as well its last two, "Backspacer" and "Lightning Bolt".

Bassist Jeff Ament told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that things like reissues and special editions are an interesting way to look at the past. "It's really good because I think that there's so much going on at the time that you forget so many things," he said. "And when people start pulling out pictures and footage from things, it's a trip to realize that large aspects of your life are fully documented. [Laughs]"

The most recent of PEARL JAM's studio albums is 2013's "Lightning Bolt". The group has not indicated when or if it will return to the studio.

PEARL JAM has taken most of 2017 off, getting together only to perform at their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame last April. A new documentary chronicling the group's two-night August 2016 stand at Chicago's Wrigley Field, titled "Let's Play Two", comes out on September 29.

Former GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist GILBY CLARKE Completes Recording New Solo Album

Former GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist GILBY CLARKE Completes Recording New Solo Album

Former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Gilby Clarke has completed recording his new album. The disc, which is expected next year, will feature many prominent musical guests, including MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx. "It still needs to be mixed," Gilby tells The Cornwall Seeker. "It's a solo record, but with that being said, there are many guest drummers and bassists. I play all the guitars and vocals. On drums, I had Kenny Arronoff [CHICKENFOOT], Stephen Perkins [JANE'S ADDICTION], Matt Starr [ACE FREHLEY, MR. BIG] and many others; while on bass Sean McNabb [QUIET RIOT, DOKKEN], Muddy Stardust, EJ Curse and Nikki Sixx make appearances."

Clarke replaced founding guitarist Izzy Stradlin in the GUNS lineup in 1991, during the "Use Your Illusion" tour, and stayed with the band for three years.

He has continued as a producer and solo artist since then, while also playing in ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA, HEART and other acts.

Clarke reunited with GUNS members Slash, Steven Adler, Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan at the band's Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in April 14, 2012, although he himself was not inducted as part of the band.

TIGERTAILZ To Release 'Fall In Love Again' Video/Single For PEPSI TATE Charity

TIGERTAILZ To Release 'Fall In Love Again' Video/Single For PEPSI TATE Charity

Welsh glam metal veterans TIGERTAILZ will release a very special version of "Fall In Love Again" featuring Suzi Chunk on vocals. This is to commemorate ten years since losing their bass player Pepsi Tate to pancreatic cancer.

The track will be released on Saturday, September 16, with the video premiering at the band's tribute show to Pepsi at the Rescue Rooms, Nottingham.

Guitarist and original founding member Jay Pepper says: "It was very important to us that we never forget him, and in doing this very special evening ten years on since losing him, we hope everyone can come together and celebrate him for everything he was and remember what he brought to us all, and what he brought to TIGERTAILZ.

"The single can be pre-ordered from all the usual digital platforms and all proceeds will go to the charity set up in Pepsi's name, AmserJustinTime."

TIGERTAILZ in 2015 tapped its bassist, Rob Wylde, to sing for the group following the departure of Jules Millis. Wylde was previously the frontman in TEENAGE CASKET COMPANY and the U.K. POISON tribute act POIZON.

Millis left TIGERTAILZ in March 2015 "due to personal reasons." He joined the band in 2012 folllowing the acrimonious exit of TIGERTAILZ's longtime singer Kim Hooker.

TIGERTAILZ's was originally fronted by Steevi Jaimz, who left the group in 1988. Jaimz later attempted to register the TIGERTAILZ name as a trademark with the U.K. Patent Office and launch his own version of TIGERTAILZ with drummer Ace Finchum.

Pepper is the sole remaining member of TIGERTAILZ's classic lineup.

ENSIFERUM Releases New Song 'King Of Storms'

ENSIFERUM Releases New Song 'King Of Storms'

"King Of Storms", a brand new song from Finnish folk metallers ENSIFERUM, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's seventh album, "Two Paths", which will be released on September 15 via Metal Blade Records. Produced by Anssi Kippo, the disc was recorded on tape, for a true analog experience.

You can't talk about the true greats of folk-inspired melodic death metal without reverent mention of ENSIFERUM, and with "Two Paths", they once more affirm their place in the pantheons of the genre. Further building upon the thrilling metallic hybrid honed across six full-lengths, "Two Paths" is simultaneously the Finnish quintet's most epic and far-reaching collection and their most organic, which definitely sets it apart from the pack. Additionally, the album literally takes the concept of "Two Paths" to heart, with two different versions of standout tracks "Don't You Say" and "God Is Dead".

"Even though ENSIFERUM has always had clean vocals and choirs, harsh vocals have been the main style, and those songs worked so well with both styles that we decided to include both versions," explains bassist/vocalist Sami Hinkka. With Mikko P. Mustonen again handling orchestral arrangements and Lassi Logren returning to play nyckelharpa and violin on a few songs, Hinkka is also more than happy that they brought "more bombastic orchestral and down to earth folk aspects" to the record, further fleshing out their vision. This also applies to the contribution of Gyula Havancsak, who provided the artwork for both "Two Paths" and its predecessor, "One Man Army". "It was really nice to work with him again because he always wants to hear our ideas and then he adds his own magic and improvements to them, and the result is always astonishing," says Hinkka.

"Two Paths" track listing

01. Ajattomasta Unesta02. For Those About To Fight For Metal03. Way Of The Warrior04. Two Paths05. King Of Storms06. Feast With Valkyries07. Don't You Say08. I Will Never Kneel09. God Is Dead10. From September 27 onward, ENSIFERUM will present "Two Paths" live on stage, splitting their European tour into two parts. The first part will be in September with six dates in three countries, and then in April 2018 there will be an extended tour through many more European countries. In between that time, ENSIFERUM will visit all other continents.

PROPHETS OF RAGE Perform 'Living On The 110' On 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' (Video)

PROPHETS OF RAGE Perform 'Living On The 110' On 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' (Video)

PROPHETS OF RAGE, the supergroup featuring members of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, PUBLIC ENEMY and CYPRESS HILL, performed the song "Living On The 110" on last night's (Monday, September 11) edition of NBC's "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon". You can now watch video footage of their appearance below.

"Living On The 110" is taken from PROPHETS OF RAGE's self-titled debut album, which will be released on September 15. The disc was recorded with legendary producer Brendan O'Brien who has done notable work with RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and AUDIOSLAVE.

"'Living On The 110' is a song that speaks to the issue of homelessness," PROPHETS OF RAGE guitarist Tom Morello said in a statement. "The 110 is a freeway in Los Angeles and living beneath it are thousands of homeless people. Bentleys and Rolls Royces roaring by are literally driving on top of the poor and their makeshift homes, a picture-perfect analogy for the grotesque economic inequality that plagues our times."

"Prophets Of Rage" track listing:

01. Radical Eyes02. Unfuck The World03. Legalize Me04. Living On The 11005. The Counteroffensive06. Hail To The Chief07. Take Me Higher08. Strength In Numbers09. Fired A Shot10. Who Owns Who11. Hands Up12. Smashit

Morello told Billboard that the members of PROPHETS OF RAGE have set a very high bar for the material that they want to release. "The goal is a simple one: The music has to be devastating," he explained. "In all these interviews, we talk a lot about the politics, but the cornerstone is that the music has to be devastating and we have to not just be competitive with our legacies, but in [2017], it has to be something that goes beyond that and is very authentic, unapologetic and contemporary."

PROPHETS OF RAGE made their live debut in May 2016 in Los Angeles.

DECAPITATED Members Accused Of Gang-Raping Spokane Woman After Concert

DECAPITATED Members Accused Of Gang-Raping Spokane Woman After Concert

All four members of the Polish death metal band DECAPITATED are being accused of gang-raping a woman in the bathroom of their tour bus after their August 31 concert in Spokane, Washington.

According to court documents obtained by The Spokesman-Review, the alleged victim and her friend told Spokane police they were invited by DECAPITATED members to have drinks in the tour bus after the show at The Pin.

One of the two women "described being excited to be on the bus, and then one of the band members began grabbing her breasts," court documents say. "He was later identified as the drummer, Michal Lysejko."

The same woman "was uncomfortable and said the band members began speaking to each other in Polish," court documents say. "She described the 'vibe' in the bus changed, and one of the members began looking at them like they were prey."

The woman said DECAPITATED singer Rafal Piotrowski began kissing her and she began resisting when he started undoing her belt, according to court documents. The woman "attempted to push Piotrowski away but he grabbed her arm and spun her around to where she was facing the sink and mirror in the bathroom," court documents say. "She saw in the mirror and out of the corner of her eye each of the band members taking turns raping her."

The rape was reported when the woman got a call from her friend, who had been pulled over in another part of town on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The alleged victim was taken to a hospital for a sexual assault examination, where it was determined that she had "significant bruising to her upper arms consistent with being restrained" and "small abrasions to her knuckles that were scabbed over." During the alleged rape, she said, she "was digging her fist into the wall to try and distract herself from what was happening."

When interviewed by detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office, Lysejko "made no comment other than he did not know who the girls were" when shown a picture of them. "He said he would not talk without using a translator," court documents say.

Guitarist Waclaw Kieltyka told detectives he saw both Piotrowski and bassist Hubert Wiecek engaged in a sex acts with the woman in the bathroom. Piotrowski "admitted there was a party on the bus and (the women) were present. He then requested an attorney and a translator refusing to make any further statements," court documents say. Wiecek admitted the women had been on the bus, but said he "sat on the couch and did not see what was going on," court documents say. "He then said he needed a translator so he did not misspeak. He also said no one was forced to get on the bus. He then said he did not recall what happened."

Kieltyka agreed to have a DNA swab collected as evidence, while Piotrowski and Wiecek both declined to give DNA samples.

The DECAPITATED bandmembers were arrested early Saturday following their concert at The Observatory in Santa Ana, California. They are in the Los Angeles County Jail awaiting extradition to Spokane.

DECAPITATED's attorney Steve Graham told The Spokesman-Review that his clients "plan to fully fight the allegations that are brought against them, and we are fully confident that the other side of this story will be heard."

He previously said that he and his clients had "witnesses that can testify to the fact that the accuser came to visit the band of her own free will and left on good terms."

DECAPITATED had been touring North America in support of its seventh album, "Anticult", which was released on July 7 via Nuclear Blast.

THE WALKING DEAD ORCHESTRA Premieres "Vengeful Flavors" Video

Resurrect is the forthcoming second full-length from French death metal legion The Walking Dead Orchestra. In advance of its release next month via Unique Leader, the visual accompaniment to fourth cut, "Vengeful Flavors,"  has been issued.

Resurrect will see release on October 13th via Unique Leader Records. Pre-order bundles are available at this location, for digital orders, go here.

Said the band of the self-produced offering, "We conditioned ourselves to unleash our primal influences; it's a back-to-the-roots process with old-school riffs tuned to a more modern sound. We are proud of this combination. Each song has its own identity. We recorded, mixed, and mastered the entire album by ourselves at our own studio, Spike Recording Studio, which allowed us to keep every step of the production process under control. This gave us the time and freedom to really develop our sound. This album imposes an ambiance with many twists and surprises and the song structures are more mature. This is a new chapter for the band but also for the Architect, the main character of The Walking Dead Orchestra's concept which takes place through a post-apocalyptic world. The artwork reflects The Walking Dead Orchestra's universe and illustrates each situation our main character goes through."

CRIPPER Premier Official Music Video For “Mother”

CRIPPER Premier Official Music Video For “Mother”

This Friday, September 15th, Germany's Cripper will release their new album, Follow Me: Kill!, worldwide via Metal Blade Records. A video for “Mother” is available for streaming below, and the record can be pre-ordered at Metal Blade in the following formats:

- Digipak CD (EU exclusive)
- CD
- 180g black vinyl (EU exclusive)
- Yellow orange vinyl (limited to 200 copies)
- Cool grey marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 100 copies)

* Exclusive bundles with a shirt, plus digital options are also available.

Cripper comment on the “Mother” video: "Choosing the third single from Follow Me: Kill! was very easy for us. 'Mother' marks one of the album's backbones but can also stand on its own. The song speaks its own distinct, gloomy and heavy language, which we transported into the video. The result is a dark and very personal piece that visually translates 'Mother'. Within the context of the previous singles 'Pressure' and 'Into The Fire', this one gives you a hint at the full spectrum of Follow Me; Kill!."

Follow Me: Kill! is Cripper's fifth album, and it adds fresh, exciting elements into their music. Still, the band never forgets where they come from and stay true to themselves within the frames of musical progression. The result is an effort that maintains the heaviness and groove the band is known for, while also containing atmospheric parts, capably realized and granting diversity.

Cripper comments: "Taking a different approach with the way of songwriting this time really paid off! The overall atmospheric curve was laid down for the whole album before we even started writing. It turned out to be a great idea - we were able to create a strong density throughout the album, while the songs are more diverse than ever. A heavy, intense piece of genre-stretching metal music!"

Tracklisting:

THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD Streaming New Single “Obitual”

THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD Streaming New Single “Obitual”

Through The Eyes Of The Dead have debuted another new single, “Obitual”. The song is available for streaming below. “’Obitual’ is in a first person narrative of someone being buried alive by a cult,” says vocalist Danny Rodriguez. “It blends elements of the ‘Bloodlust sound’ with more of our recent progressive songwriting direction.”

The track comes from the band's new LP, Disomus, which is scheduled to be released October 13th via Entertainment One Music (eOne) / Good Fight Music. The song also features original vocalist Anthony Gunnells who was in the band from its inception through 2007. Rodriguez adds, “We were excited to get Anthony to do a bit on this track. It personally brings me back to 05' everytime I hear it.”

"Obitual" follows "Hate The Living," which was released last month and is also streaming below. Both tracks are available as iTunes instant gratification tracks, meaning fans who pre order the album on iTunes will receive both tracks as instant downloads.

Disomus is the long anticipated follow up to their last LP, Skepsis released in 2010. Disomus marks the second consecutive album with vocalist Danny Rodriguez and drummer Michael Ranne (a first in the group’s impressive history) together with longtime bassist Jake Ososkie and founding guitarist and songwriting engine Justin Longshore. Disomus doubles as the studio introduction of new guitarist Steven Funderburk (also of Wretched, Lillake) and the return of original vocalist Anthony Gunnells and his successor, Nate Johnson, via strong guest appearances, bringing Through The Eyes Of The Dead full circle.

“Disomus” is the medical term describing an abnormal fetus with two bodies but one head. The album’s subject matter includes the tale of a man buried alive by a cult (“Obitual”), a dark magician’s creation of a malignant entity via sacrificial killing (“Haruspex”), underworld spirits doomed to roam the earth (“Dismal”), the Styx River of Greek myth (“Vortices In The Stygian Maelstrom”), the themes of the Alien/Prometheus film franchise (“Teras”, alternately named for an abnormal fetus with two heads and one body), and the real life tragedy and horror discovered by Rodriguez, a Chicago police officer, when called upon to check on the well being of an elderly person who lived alone (“Till Solace, She’ll Haunt”).

REDEMPTION Parts Ways With FATES WARNING's RAY ALDER, Recruits EVERGREY's TOM ENGLUND

REDEMPTION, the U.S. progressive metal band led by guitarist/songwriter Nick Van Dyk, has parted ways with FATES WARNING vocalist Ray Alder and has replaced him with EVERGREY's Tom Englund.

REDEMPTION's current lineup — which is rounded out by Sean Andrews (bass) and Chris Quirarte (drums) — has finished recording its seventh full-length album, "Long Night's Journey Into Day", for an early 2018 release via Metal Blade. YES Cancels Tour Dates Following Death Of STEVE HOWE's Son

YES Cancels Tour Dates Following Death Of STEVE HOWE's Son

Due to the tragic, unexpected death of guitarist Steve Howe's beloved younger son Virgil, progressive rockers YES have canceled the remaining dates of their "Yestival" tour.

Ticket refunds for the affected tour dates (in Moorhead, Cedar Rapids, London, Rochester, Boston and Huntington) will be available at point of purchase.

The YES members — Howe, Alan White, Geoff Downes, Jon Davison and Billy Sherwood — want to thank all their fans for their support and understanding at this time.

Howe and his family ask for their privacy to be respected.

Virgil, drummer for British power-rock outfit LITTLE BARRIE, played behind the kit, sang and performed keys on his father's 1993 album "The Grand Scheme Of Things".

Virgil's death comes just two months before the scheduled arrival of "Nexus", a new instrumental album on which he collaborated with Steve. The effort is due on November 17 via InsideOut Music.

"I've done a wealth of different things but I haven't done anything like this before," Steve told Prog magazine a few weeks ago. "I feel it's steering me in a different direction. It's a full-on collaborative album, not a duet. It's been refreshing to work with Virgil and we've pulled this beautiful album together. Although it's got shades of mellow music, it doesn't sit still. It moves across electronic music and my guitars. This is an opportunity to discover what Virgil's been doing on the side of his drumming with LITTLE BARRIE. He's got a hard rock and funk side but this has totally different shades."

Founded in 1968 by the late and much-missed Chris Squire and Jon Anderson, Grammy Award-winning recording artist YES has created some of the most important and influential music in rock history, including iconic pieces such as "Roundabout", "Close To The Edge", "I've Seen All Good People", "Starship Trooper" and countless others. The band's albums, including "Fragile", "Close To The Edge", "Tales From Topographic Oceans", "Relayer", "Going For The One" and "90125", have been certified multi-platinum, double-platinum, platinum, and more by the RIAA, selling over fifty million records during the band's long and successful career that has so far spanned six decades.

Due to the tragic, unexpected death of guitarist Steve Howe’s beloved younger son, Virgil, YES regrettably announces...

NACHTMYSTIUM Signs With PROPHECY PRODUCTIONS

NACHTMYSTIUM Signs With PROPHECY PRODUCTIONS

Influential American metal band NACHTMYSTIUM has signed with Prophecy Productions. The group has completed work on a new EP titled "Resilient", which was recorded at Belle City Sound in Racine, Wisconsin with engineer Chris Djuric. Additional recording sessions also occurred in Norway, Germany and the band's home base of California before tracking from all contributing members was complete. "Resilient" is slated for an early 2018 release.

"NACHTMYSTIUM is extremely honored to be working with Prophecy Productions," comments guitarist/vocalist Blake Judd. "It is a true pleasure for me to have been able to develop a personal relationship with the Prophecy label staff in Southern California. We are able to meet face-to-face regularly and work together at creating the best possible environment for NACHTMYSTIUM to begin to rebuild its way back into the metal community after some very dark years and times that I have spent the majority of the last two years cleaning up the debris from. With past misdoings being corrected, new bridges built (and some old bridges rebuilt), and a few exclusive 2017 live performances under our belts, we feel as though the band has taken massive strides forward in recovering from its damaged state after my seven-year run with severe heroin addiction. Those dark days are now behind me, the band and all whose lives we effect in one way or another. Onward and upward is the attitude and goal here, as NACHTMYSTIUM's ascension returns to its past form. Expect to hear a lot of new music and news from our camp in 2018."

Now sober, Judd continues to rebuild his life, both personally and professionally. As part of NACHTMYSTIUM joining the Prophecy Productions family of artists, the band will release future recordings through the label, who will also reissue much of the group's extensive back catalog, including the critically acclaimed releases "Eulogy IV" (2004), "Assassins: Black Meddle, Part I" (2008), "Worldfall" (2008), "Doomsday Derelicts" (2009), "Addicts: Black Meddle", "Part II" (2010), "Silencing Machine" (2012) and the rare seven-inch EP "As Made" (2012). The new union supersedes the band's previously-announced deal with Earache Records.

In addition to founding member Blake Judd, NACHTMYSTIUM features Jacob Dye (guitar), Peter Truax (bass) and Jean-Michel Graffio (drums, percussion). Photo credit: Nocturnalcoonz Photography

BLACK SABBATH's TONY IOMMI Says He Is Getting 'Loads Of Requests' To Collaborate With Other Musicians

BLACK SABBATH's TONY IOMMI Says He Is Getting 'Loads Of Requests' To Collaborate With Other Musicians

MetalTalk recently spoke to BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi about "The End Of The End", a upcoming documentary movie of the band's last-ever concert, and "The Ten Year War" limited-edition vinyl box set. You can now watch the chat below.

Asked how he felt going into SABBATH's final show this past February, Iommi said: "Well, I think, in all the tour, it didn't feel like we were gonna end — it just didn't hit home at all until the end [laughs], really. The last show, we went on and played and it was a bit emotional, 'cause you're looking out, seeing people crying, which was very sad. You think all these people have been there for us for all these years, that looked to us as their heroes, and it's a lovely feeling. I felt a bit sad for them as well, really, and because we won't be seeing them as such on a regular basis."

According to Iommi, once the gig was over, "It still didn't seem like it was the end, because most tours are finished like that, and you all go home, and you think, 'We'll be back in six weeks to do the next tour,'" he said. "But, of course, it didn't happen on this one. But it was the same sort of vibe for a bit. And it still hasn't sunk in yet, because I've been involved with quite a lot of stuff since we finished, dealing the film stuff and the DVD and 'The Ten Year War' and stuff like that. We haven't had time — or I haven't had time time — to really even think about, 'Oh, we've stopped,' 'cause I haven't stopped. I'm still as busy as ever — apart from we're not flying everywhere, which is great."

Regarding his plans for the future, Iommi said: "There's a lot coming up; it's just a matter of picking and choosing what I wanna do. It's hard to say at the moment, 'cause I'm still involved with the SABBATH thing as far as putting this to bed."

He added: "There's loads of requests to put something together, and even musicians saying, 'Would you like to do something?' So it's great, really. It's really open."

The original lineup of SABBATH came together in 1969 with Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne on vocals, Geezer Butler on bass and Bill Ward on drums. That lineup recorded and toured through 1978, and periodically reformed through the '90s and 2000s for live work.

They regrouped again in late 2011 for a new album and tour, although Ward dropped out after a few months over financial issues. SABBATH has used Ozzy's regular touring drummer Tommy Clufetos since then for live work. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's Brad Wilk laid down the drum tracks on the album "13", which came out in June 2013.

THE HAXANS Feat. ROB ZOMBIE Bassist, NEW YEARS DAY Singer: 'Black Cat Bone' Video

THE HAXANS Feat. ROB ZOMBIE Bassist, NEW YEARS DAY Singer: 'Black Cat Bone' Video

"Black Cat Bone", the new video from THE HAXANS, the goth-pop-infused power duo featuring Ash Costello (NEW YEARS DAY) on vocals and Matt Montgomery (ROB ZOMBIE) on vocals and guitar, can be seen below. The song is taken from THE HAXANS' debut album, "Party Monsters", which will be released on October 13 via Another Century Records.

Costello comments: "I love every HAXANS song, but 'Black Cat Bone' holds a special place in my heart. It's the perfect marriage between classic rock and dance rhythms. The icing on the cake are Matt's deep vocals! It's a Halloween party must that will keep you shakin' a feather year round. It's also one of the very first songs we did together for THE HAXANS. It embodies a little bit of each slice that makes up the entire HAXANS pie!"

Montgomery adds: "'Black Cat Bone' was one of our earliest songs. It kinda set the tone for our record, and really helped get the party started. But now every party has a potential party crasher, and this one in our video just wouldn't quit! I think everyone probably has one of those in their life somewhere. At one point they were invited, but somewhere along the way they crossed some lines."

Montgomery previously said that the "secret ingredient" behind THE HAXANS was "having two people that are on the same wavelength. You're painting with the same colors. We've got the same color palette. We're, like, 'Purple?' 'You mean this purple?' And we go, 'Yeah, that's exactly the purple [we were looking for].'"

HOLE's PATTY SCHEMEL To Release Memoir, 'Hit So Hard', In October

HOLE's PATTY SCHEMEL To Release Memoir, 'Hit So Hard', In October

"Hit So Hard: A Memoir" — the first book by drummer Patty Schemel, best known for her work with HOLE in the '90s — will be published in hardcover by Da Capo Press on October 31. "Hit So Hard" follows, and expands upon, the acclaimed documentary film of the same name about Schemel released in 2011.

A drummer who was at the epicenter of the Seattle music scene in the early '90s, Schemel was an integral member of HOLE (suggested to frontwoman Courtney Love by her husband, Kurt Cobain, an avid fan of Schemel's drumming), and helped to create the seminal album "Live Through This". "Hit So Hard" chronicles the coming of age of a musician and an addict, on and off the road, in a band plagued by tragedy during the last great era of rock 'n' roll excess. While never losing her sense of humor, Schemel — one of the first female drummers to make it big in the music world, as well as one of the first women in rock to come out publicly as gay (in the pages of Rolling Stone, no less!) — intimately documents the events surrounding her dramatic descent from festival headliner into a life of homelessness and crime on the streets of Los Angeles, and her difficult but rewarding path to sobriety after more than twenty serious attempts to get clean.

"Hit So Hard" is a first-hand account of everything that happened behind the curtain. It sheds light on Cobain's final, fateful drug intervention; the backstage antics of HOLE while they defied expectation following the sudden deaths of Cobain and bassist Kristen Pfaff and toured in support of "Live Through This"; Schemel's writing of, and subsequent dramatic exit from, the recording of the band's celebrated third album, "Celebrity Skin"; and countless encounters with some of rock 'n' roll's biggest names of the early '90s. But at its core, "Hit So Hard" is a survival story, told in witty detail by a woman who literally saw and experienced it all. Whether it was coming out in small town Washington state in the '80s, weathering all variety of sexism as one of the only famous female drummers of her time, or battling the intense drug addiction that threatened to take everything she had — including her life — many times, Schemel still managed to come out the other side. A testament to the enduring power of the music Schemel helped create, as well as an important documentation of the drug culture that threatened to destroy it, "Hit So Hard" is ultimately the story of one amazing woman's ability to prevail against all odds, even when she herself believed she wouldn't make it out alive.

Schemel is on the board of the Rock 'N' Roll Camp For Girls, a non-profit organization that teaches girls all over the world that it's okay to be loud. She continues to perform, teach, and tour, currently with the band UPSET, and lives in Los Angeles with her wife and daughter.

MARYANN COTTON - Cover Artwork And Tracklist For New Album Revealed

Maryann Cotton and Chrome Music Group has set an October 2nd release date for Maryann Cotton’s new album, titled Murder. It will be made available on all digital platforms and formats, CD, and limited-edition LP. The 9-track album has been recorded in USA, Denmark, and Sweden, and is written by Maryann Cotton and co-writer Hal Patino. It was produced by Maryann Cotton, and recorded by Hal Patino, Sebastian Sly, Joel Korpela and Cotton.

The tracklist is as follows:

"Cursed"
"Bitch Bitching"
"Resurrection"
"Live It Up"
"I'm The Devil"
"Impales Your Empire"
"Cold Crazy Baby"
"Soldier Boy"
"For The Angels"

With regards to the Murder album title, Cotton said: "I love that title! We wanted a title that sounded hard and mean, and it fits really well with the whole vibe of the album. It's old fashioned but modern at the same time, it’s the darkest album we’ve ever done but it’s not depressing at all, it's actually a very up-album!

It’s very experimental and the sound is dirty and dry, we have worked very hard on this album and I think that the whole thing has been taken to another level! Right now I just can’t wait for the fans to hear it! It’s pure rock 'n roll!''

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD - Rare 1997 Bootleg Footage From Minneapolis Show Surfaces On YouTube

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD - Rare 1997 Bootleg Footage From Minneapolis Show Surfaces On YouTube

Rare bootleg footage of Strapping Young Lad, fronted by Devin Townsend, performing live in Minneapolis in 1997 at First Avenue has surfaced on YouTube courtesy of Nick's World Of Bootlegs. A note from the man himself:

"It's not often that some historic Devin Townsend footage emerges, so try to enjoy despite the mediocre quality. I was surprised to see these guys playing Far Beyond Metal since there wasn't a studio version of that song released until The New Black in 2006, but apparently, the song existed back around the City album and was actually a live staple on this tour."

The clip below is pro-shot footage of the Devin Townsend Project live at Summer Breeze 2017 featuring Anneke Van Giersbergen on guest vocals. They performed on August 17th.

The setlist was as follows:

"Rejoice"
"Stormbending"
"Failure"
"Deadhead"
"Supercrush!"
"March of the Poozers"
"Kingdom"
"Grace"
"Higher"

Swedish Professor Of Palaeontology MATS E. ERIKSSON To Release EP Featuring SNOWY SHAW Plus Members Of NILE, SEANCE

Swedish Professor Of Palaeontology MATS E. ERIKSSON To Release EP Featuring SNOWY SHAW Plus Members Of NILE, SEANCE

Swedish paleontology professor and metal devotee Mats E. Eriksson invited some of his favorite musicians and recorded an album that sonically pays homage to a group of exceptionally preserved, half-a-billion-year-old fossils, which is target of his research. Eriksson says he approached the musicians with the following mindset; “not only am I a major fan of their respective work but I also focused on perceived personalities, i.e., individuals that seemingly ooze dedication combined with a jovial disposition. And of course musicians who might appreciate science and, not least, quirky and unorthodox combinations. Man, was I proven right!”

The Primordial Rigor Mortis record features four tracks with lyrics penned by Eriksson (Spider Death BC). The lines deal with the extraordinary, so-called ‘Orsten’ fossils from the Cambrian Period (c. 541-485 million years ago) while simultaneously being staged in a dark, ‘metal’ landscape. For this project, Eriksson worked closely primarily with Tomas Andersson (Denata, Seance, Freevil) as the main music composer, instrumentalist and sparring partner. The cover artwork of the record features a stunning painting by the one and only Joe Petagno, who made his own interpretation of the force of nature killing off and preserving the ‘Orsten’ creatures.

The record kicks off with an eerily evil, yet beautiful soundscape composed by award-winning, clavier wizard Fredrik Andersson (Phanatos), and with Eriksson’s lyrics performed by horror metal ‘monster’ and multi-instrumentalist Snowy Shaw (Snowy Shaw Band, ex-Notre Dame, ex-King Diamond, ex-Mercyful Fate, ex-Dream Evil etc). In this prelude piece, Shaw chillingly guides the listener into the long lost world of strange beasts and their subsequent fate on the paleontologist dissection table.

Following this is an explosive, brief death/thrash metal piece coined “Enigmatic Presence (Agnostus pisiformis)” composed by Andersson and Eriksson. Johan Larsson’s (Seance) guttural growls violate your ear drums while paying tribute to A. pisiformis, a seminal creature in the Cambrian seas.

The third track “Primordial Rigor Mortis I” is sort of a cross-over composition; thrashy rhythms meet more melodic and traditional style metal. Composed by Andersson it features vocalist extraordinaire Charles “Chulle” Rytkönen (Morgana Lefay, Cibola Junction), while also flavored by some Andersson growling. As icing on the ‘Paleo Metal’ cake, there is an alien-esque guitar solo by none other than the astonishing Mattias “Ia” Eklundh (Freak Kitchen).

The record terminates with “Primordial Rigor Mortis II”, a death metal beast by Andersson, who also performs Eriksson’s lyrics alongside the helpful growling of Larsson. Two amazing guitar solos coloring the tune are attributed legendary death metal guitarist Karl Sanders (Nile).

In addition to the digital release, the tracks are also available on a collector’s edition 12”, 45 RPM picture vinyl record, limited to 250 hand-numbered copies worldwide. Of course the vinyl is pressed on authentic fossils. Order the EP on Bandcamp.  All tracks were mixed by Mique Flesh (Seance, Freevil, ex-Witchery) and the record is self-released by Eriksson, who also produced all songs together with Andersson. Eriksson says “I could not have been more proud and pleased with the outcome and I extend my deepest gratitude towards all amazing people involved in this project”.

THE PINEAPPLE THIEF – “Show A Little Love” From Where We Stood Concert Film Streaming

Bringing to close an unforgettable 14-date European Winter tour of their 2016 summer hit album Your Wilderness, The Pineapple Thief, led by post-progressive mastermind Bruce Soord and reinforced by Gavin Harrison on drums with Darran Charles on guitar, gave the sold-out Islington Assembly Hall in London a truly awe-inspiring gig on February 11th, 2017. “Show A Little Love” is streaming below:

Where We Stood showcases a powerful performance from both band regulars and guests on new tracks from Your Wilderness, including "In Exile", "No Man's Land" and "The Final Thing On My Mind", and of the classics from previous albums, "Nothing At Best", "Show A Little Love" and "Simple As That".

Bruce Soord says about the show and release “It was our last show of the tour and our biggest headline show ever. We had 15 cameras, a massive jib, but more importantly - a sell-out crowd!  The pressure was indeed on, but it’s safe to say that the stars aligned for us that night and it turned out to be one of the most memorable performances of our career so far.

We've thrown everything but the kitchen sink at this special edition Blu-ray.  It has the full show; documentary footage and interviews; and two different 5.1 surround mixes (one natural, one discrete) - all in high resolution 24/96 stereo.  It also has our last album Your Wilderness in stereo and surround, plus the special 8 Years Later album in stereo with a brand-new surround mix too.  All of that plus five acoustic tracks (also stereo and surround) and loads of bonus videos. This is without doubt the definitive Your Wilderness release.”

Ex-STRYPER Bassist TIM GAINES Slams MICHAEL SWEET, Tells His Former Bandmates To 'Grow Some Balls'

Ex-STRYPER Bassist TIM GAINES Slams MICHAEL SWEET, Tells His Former Bandmates To 'Grow Some Balls'

Tim Gaines claims that he was kicked out of STRYPER after he was given an ultimatum by his former bandmates to either "give up" his new wife or get fired from the group.

The musician's exit from the band has been rumored for months, ever since STRYPER guitarist Oz Fox revealed that Tim was going through a divorce, forcing the group to take a hiatus and possibly consider a future without the bassist.

Gaines told KNAC.COM last month that "all hell broke loose" after he split up with his previous wife, "which is taboo as far as Christianity, I guess." He added: "I'm not the only guy in STRYPER to have gotten a divorce. Everybody in the band is married to divorced people. And I'm the bad guy, but everybody else has done it too, so? Whatever. Live in glass houses and everything will be exposed at some point or another."

A few days later, the remaining members of STRYPER released a statement denying that Gaines's divorce was a factor in their decision to part ways with the bassist and blaming Tim's "erratic and hostile behavior" for his dismissal from the group.

Earlier today, Gaines took to his Facebook page to once again address his departure from STRYPER. He wrote: "My recent demise within the STRYPER camp came about because I actually have testicles. I stood my ground when I was told to give up the woman I love (who is now my wife) or get fired. I threatened to sue. I was 'conveniently' fired ten days after my marriage to Brandee, on the grounds that I made some posts threatening to sue the band for wrongful termination. They called it 'threats.'

"My recommendation to Oz and Bob [STRYPER drummer Robert Sweet]? Grow some balls and stand up to that pathetic one and his conniving wife" — apparently referring to STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet — "or just continue to live a life of mediocrity. You both have been threatened with termination over the last several years. He has a million-dollar home. You rent and drive twenty-year-old broken-down cars. You both have NOTHING to show for your thirty-five years. Quit playing rock star and get a clue, dumbshitz."

STRYPER is scheduled to enter the studio in November to begin work on in its new album for an early 2018 release.

The band has not yet announced a replacement for Gaines.

Tim is currently working with FAITHSEDGE singer-songwriter Giancarlo Floridia on that band's fourth album, tentatively due in the fall of 2018.

Listen To MARILYN MANSON's New Single, 'We Know Where You F**king Live'

Listen To MARILYN MANSON's New Single, 'We Know Where You F**king Live'

Marilyn Manson's new single, "We Know Where You Fucking Live", was premiered earlier today (Monday, September 11) via Zane Lowe's radio show on Apple Music's Beats 1. The song, which can be heard below, is taken from Manson's new album, "Heaven Upside Down", due on October 6. On the disc, he reunites with producer and film composer Tyler Bates following an epic collaboration on Manson's critically acclaimed 2015 release, "The Pale Emperor". The shock rocker's tenth studio disc was originally supposed to be called "SAY10" and was expected to be released on Valentine's Day (February 1). However, that release date came and went without any sign of new Manson music, and in May, the 48-year-old singer announced that the LP had a new title.

When Loudwire asked Manson about the change of plans, he revealed he wasn't happy with the album when Valentine's Day came around and subsequently wrote three new songs that ended up being some of the record's strongest.

"If the record came out when I intended it to, when I thought it was finished back in February, it would not have 'Revelation #12', 'Heaven Upside Down' or 'Saturnalia'. Those are three of the most key songs that really tell the story," Manson explained. "Those lyrics were all written, but I had not found a home for them. Those three songs take place in the three places where if it were a film, it's the opening, it's the middle and it's the ending. Then there's the song after 'Heaven Upside Down', it's sort of the end title credits where it's really surmising the story of the record, which is to be interpreted by the listener."

He continued: "I wanted to draw people in sonically and lyrically. I'm glad. This record was meant to come out now, for whatever reason. Things had to happen in my life, everything had to happen for a reason for it to come out now."

Manson performed four new songs during his recently completed European tour.

In November last year, Manson issued a brief teaser video for the track "SAY10" which saw him tear pages from the bible and focus on the bloodied body of a man in a suit — believed to represent then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Manson revealed last September that his new album would be "the last thing people would expect after hearing 'The Pale Emperor'." He explained: "Coming from the people who I've played it to, it's a combination of 'Antichrist Superstar' and 'Mechanical Animals' in feeling."

Manson added: "It wasn't my intent to go backwards. Everything goes in a full circle and it just becomes, without cannibalizing work from the past, the same thing, which is ultimately you. I'm a little over-anxious to release it, so it was done very quickly, but it's by far the most thematic and over-complicated thing that I've done. In a way, it's deceptively delightful to strangers. It's like the old saying that the devil's greatest secret is that people don't believe he exists."

MARILYN MANSON's North American tour will kick off on September 27 in Silver Spring, Maryland.

"Heaven Upside Down" track listing:

01. Revelation #1202. Tattooed In Reverse03. We Know Where You Fucking Live04. Say1005. Kill4me06. Saturnalia07. Je$u$ Cri$i$08. Blood Honey09. Heaven Upside Down10. Threats Of Romance
