Lifeforce Records recently announced the signing of French metal act Weaksaw to their roster. Their Lifeforce Records debut is set to be released on May 27th. The band have launched a video diary for the upcoming release, with the first episode streaming below:

Ever since their creation in 2008 in Montpellier (South of France), Weaksaw have played a sincere brutal and melodic metal. The band was initially formed by Bryan Tronquet (drums) and Leo Sendra guitar), and are joined by Charles Villanueva (bass), Tristan Haillot (vocals) and Erwan Billon (guitar). The line-up has remained unchanged to this day.

Weaksaw have released two Eps in a positively thrash core style, 13 X 13 (four tracks) in 2008, and The Overture (six tracks) in 2009, both recorded at Trendkill Studios. Their first album, Weaksaw, was released in 2012 by Klonosphere / Season Of Mist, also recorded at Trendkill Studios. With this album, their style gets more radical, with a darker, more violent, technical touch to it.

James Hudson Jr was released in early 2013, marking the affirmation of their style, with more direct, ambient songs, charged with brutal emotion. The band, who auto produced this album, chose to release it exclusively digitally. It is a foretaste of their upcoming work.

The band has toured extensively with each release. It is indeed on stage that Weaksaw reach their full potential, playing energetic, precise and powerful shows, with a strong connexion to their crowd. With more than 140 shows all through Europe, Weaksaw has forged themselves a strong reputation as a must see live band.

Weaksaw started writing their next release just after their return from the French Connexion Tour (with Uneven Structure and The Algorithm). The previous EP, James Hudson Jr defined a strong artistic direction in which the band has wished to stay. The end of 2014 marked the beginning of the most important step of their carrier. A tight-knit group, both determined and professional, headed to Florida to record their next release, strengthened by the presence of a manager and producer.

The production, mixing and mastering were taken care of by Mark Lewis (Cannibal Corpse, Whitechapel, The Black Dahlia Murder). The drums were recorded in Florida (Audio Hammer Studios) by Jason Suecof, and the rest of the album was recorded in France, at the Chicken Coop Studio, this time by Mark Lewis.

This album is brutal and modern, without however falling into the style’s stereotypes. From the beginning to the end, this album is haunted by a ghostly atmosphere and palpable emotions thanks to the massive and direct tracks. Mark Lewis is doing an amazing job with the production, both humanly and professionally: “with Mark, all that matters is the music. He is an unconditional fan of metal music, plug yourself in, play, and let’s make this riff sound as good as humanly possible.”

Weaksaw will be touring in the next few months to present their new release.

Israeli metallers, Ferium, will release their new album, Behind The Black Eyes next month. The follow-up to their 2014 debut album Reflections will be released on April 21st and pre-orders are being taken now at this location. Check out the new music video for the track “Revelation” below.

Behind The Black Eyes was produced and mixed by Elram Boxer. It was mastered at The Panic Room by Thomas Plec Johanssen.

Canadian hard rockers Monster Truck stopped by the Guitar World studios to do a playthrough of their new song "Don't Tell Me How to Live”, from their new album Sittin' Heavy. Check it out below:

Monster Truck released their new album Sittin’ Heavy on February 19th via their new label home, Mascot Records / Mascot Label Group (Black Stone Cherry, Black Label Society, Joe Bonamassa) for Europe and Dine Alone Records for the rest of the world.

London, England’s Zoax will release their self-titled debut album on May 13th via Century Media Records. Album details are forthcoming, but the band have released a music video for the track “The Bad Blood”.

Frontman Adam Carroll comments: “Since day one, we have always set out to make this the opener for the album because it has an element of introducing each band member. But what really sold us was opening with a track that says the lyric 'If there is a god, watching over us. Can someone tell him to, keep the bad blood'. It's a big question that I would feel so many people ask themselves especially with the current state of everything in the world today. This track was one of the early ones that we finished, and afterwards we then realized that we have a lot more to say on this album than we initially thought.”

Zoax recently announced their appearance as special guests to Funeral For A Friend on their sold out Last Chance To Dance final farewell tour.

Funeral For A Friend are playing one very last run of shows, performing the album Hours one night and Casually Dressed the following night alongside songs from their other records and EPs. The tour package also includes the US metalcore originators Shai Hulud.

Italian heavy rockers LACUNA COIL will release their new album, "Delirium", on May 27 via Century Media. The CD was recorded at BRX Studio in Milan between December 2015 and February 2016. The effort was produced by LACUNA COIL bassist and main songwriter Marco "Maki" Coti-Zelati, with engineering by Marco Barusso and additional assistance from Dario Valentini. Coti-Zelati also created the artwork for "Delirium", which is based on an atmospheric session captured by Italian photographer Alessandro Olgiati.

Speaking to Revolver magazine, LACUNA COIL vocalist Cristina Scabbia stated about the lyrical themes covered on "Delirium": "There's a lot to say about it, and there's a lot of things that we still need to decide, and a lot of things that can change during the process. But overall, it's an album that will be centered on insanity — that was the main inspiration for this album. From simple types of insanity, like being in the same bed with your partner and not talking to each other but having your phone in your hand, or something more serious and specific, like Stockholm Syndrome, where a person loves another person in a crazy way, even if it's the wrong one. We even imagined that the entire record takes place in sort of a hospital or asylum, where different patients are telling us their stories."

Asked if "Delirium" will be a similar kind of record to 2014's "Broken Crown Halo", which had a "cinematic vibe" to it, Scabbia said: "Even more! And we're already discussing stage clothes and stage setup for the tour. I've always liked the theatrical side of the show. I've never agreed with the bands that don't even consider their look onstage, just because only music counts. Of course music counts — but if you go to a show, you want to see a band acting like they're doing a show. So I think costumes are important. It's like going to the theater and seeing the actors without their proper clothes — it's not the same! And honestly, it's more fun for the band — putting on the costumes before you go onstage, it's sort of a ritual, and it puts you into the show even more. It's still you, but it's a different side of yourself."

"Delirium" is LACUNA COIL's first album to featuring American drummer Ryan Blake Folden, who has been touring with the band since 2012.

As previously reported, LACUNA COIL has recruited Los Angeles-based musician Daniel Sahagún (BLACK LODGE) as a fill-in guitarist for the band following the recent departure of Marco "Maus" Biazzi.

Sahagún previously played bass for LACUNA COIL in 2014 when the band's bassist and main songwriter Marco "Maki" Coti-Zelati was sick and unable to tour with the group.

Daniel made his live debut as LACUNA COIL's guitarist during tis year's 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise.

Biazzi left LACUNA COIL in January, explaining in a statement: "I felt I couldn't add more in this project any longer so I decided to leave my second family, LACUNA COIL, to take a different path for a new challenge in my life.

LACUNA COIL in February 2014 parted ways with guitarist Cris "Pizza" Migliore and drummer Cristiano "Criz" Mozzati.

"Quiet Distress", a brand new song from Massachusetts-based metallers KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's seventh album, "Incarnate", which will be released on March 11 via Roadrunner.

In a new interview with Metal Obsession, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE guitarist Joel Stroetzel stated about how the writing process for "Incarnate": "It was definitely more spread out [than in the past]. We probably started writing the record a year and a half ago. We just took our time with it. As we came up with arrangements that we were satisfied with, we sent it off to Jesse [Leach, vocals] and he would start doing his thing. We tried to keep it comfortable, perhaps too comfortable; it took a little while! I hope in the end that people will enjoy it."

Joel also talked about the fact that Leach really struggled with the lyrics for "Incarnate", which marks the singer's second album with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE since his return to the band. Stroetzel said: "When [Jesse] came back and did 'Disarm The Descent', that happened really fast and we had a lot of the music written already. He came in and just wrote the lyrics really fast and we got it out there. With this one, I think he wanted to step it up. I think in the end even though it took him a long time, I think one of the biggest highlights is the work that Jesse did. He sounds great on it and the lyrics are great. I know he's proud of it and we're all proud of him."

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE will embark on a North American headline tour shortly after the new album's release. They will be joined by MEMPHIS MAY FIRE and 36 CRAZYFISTS for the trek, which runs from March 16 in San Antonio, Texas to April 24 near Charleston, South Carolina.

On February 27th, Toronto-based Inertia Entertainment celebrated 20 years of bringing the noise to Hogtown at the Opera House. The clip below features Canadian metal legends Sacrifice performing the Motörhead classic "Iron Fist" with Danko Jones at the microphone as a tribute to Lemmy.

French tech death strategists Gorod have released a video for “Inner Alchemy”. The track comes off the band’s A Maze Of Recycled Creeds full-length, releases last fall in North American via Unique Leader Records.

Centered on unfathomable fantasies created by various secret societies and mystical orders, A Maze Of Recycled Creeds is a near 50 minute long work of diabolic genius spewing forth 11 tracks of arthritis-inducing riffs, spiraling, harmony-rich fret decompositions, surgically-precise time shifts, blasts, brawn and an incessant barrage of malicious vocal onslaughts.

An EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for "Kentucky", the fifth studio album from Kentucky rockers BLACK STONE CHERRY, is available below. Due on April 1 via Mascot Label Group, the CD was recorded at Barrick Recording in Glasgow, Kentucky. Taking a "back-to-the-roots" approach, the effort was produced in the same way and same place as BLACK STONE CHERRY's eponymous debut album, which broke the band out of the small southern backwater and onto the world stage.

BLACK STONE CHERRY guitarist Ben Wells recently told Metal Hammer magazine about "Kentucky": "This is the first time we get to self-produce. And most of the songs, with the exception of maybe two or three out of fifteen, are all written by us, the four of us. Which all of our songs always are — we might co-write with somebody — but this time, the majority of the songs are all written by us. So it feels really good to kind of have that creative freedom. Even though we're still learning things as we get along, we've kind of picked up over the years touring internationally what our fans have come to expect and what we expect from ourselves and what we know people are gonna enjoy from us. So it's definitely… it's raw, it's heavy. We're going back to our hometown to record it, where we did our debut album. So we're kind of revisiting some of that old mojo that we had, and I think our fans have been wanting that from us for a long time now. So we want, and I know they want it, and we're just excited about it. I mean, the songs… These are probably some of the coolest songs we've written as far as the music and the melodies."

Added BLACK STONE CHERRY drummer John Fred Young: "We're not doing a prog record — it's not that different — but I think it does have parts where I don't think records before have had these parts. And I think people are gonna go, 'Wow! I've never heard 'em do that, or that transition there.' And I think, too, with us, we're… In America, like I've said before, and we've all said, you are only as good as your last American rock single, and for us, we just don't play that ballgame, because our fans, they're here for the live show, they're here to hear the songs and have a great time. And I think that in some previous records, we were in positions with the label where we had to write songs formatted [for radio]."

Continued Wells: "But this time, we weren't focusing on that. We said, 'Look, if they pick it up and they like it, awesome. But our fans are the ones who gave us a career. So we wrote it with them in mind and [the songs were assembled for] the live setting."

Kozmik Artifactz has announced the signing Austin, TX heavy rockers Heavy Glow for the re-release of 2014’s Pearls & Swine And Everything Fine and also their upcoming new album.

Iconic Grammy-winning and Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame rockers, The Allman Brothers Band are excited to announce a new distribution deal with RED Distribution for upcoming archival releases as well as the handling of their diverse releases through the band's Allman Brothers Band Recording Company label.

Yesterday, RollingStone.com debuted the lengthy "You Don't Love Me"/"Soul Serenade" jam from the upcoming Live From A&R Studios: New York, August 26, 1971 CD, set for release April 1st. You can hear it here. In the Rolling Stone piece, ABB co-founder Butch Trucks talks extensively with David Fricke about this recording, the band's legendary live shows and his relationship with the late Duane Allman. "Oh, man, I'll never forget that one," he says of the A&R Studios recording. "We were set up in that studio just like we did on stage. But it was better. Rather than having their backs to me, the front line - Duane, Dickey and Berry - was facing us in kind of a semi-circle, which made it even easier to communicate. When I play, I stare at the left hand of whoever is playing lead. And I get to know what people are playing well enough that when they start going somewhere, once they arrive, I'm already there."

ABB co-founder Jaimoe says the band's happy to be at Red Distribution and back with a Sony family label they've had much success with. "We're a good team. We had a long run with them, and the band is excited to dig into the archives with record people who understand the special time these live recordings were captured - it was magical."

"Working with these legendary recordings are a personal and professional treat for me and the RED team," says Bob Morelli, President of RED Distribution. "Our first new release together, the legendary Live at A&R Studios felt like uncovering a buried treasure. The first release in this new relationship is the widely-bootlegged Live From A&R Studios: New York, August 26, 1971, due out April 1st. This is the only band-authorized version of this album, remixed from the original multi-tracks; all others versions have been radio air check bootlegs. It features the original line-up of the Allman Brothers Band (Duane Allman, Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Jaimoe, Berry Oakley and Butch Trucks), recorded and broadcast live on WPLJ radio in NYC on August 26th, 1971. Founding guitarist Duane Allman died eight weeks later on October 2nd, 1971 in a motorcycle accident; this album marks his last NYC performance. The band was at one of their highest peaks, having just released their breakthrough At Fillmore East album only a month before. The liner notes contain the last public interview done with show air host DJ Dave Herman shortly before his death in 2014.

"You see, the Allman Brothers Band had built a special rapport with New York City through radio play, and then backing it up with live performances," Herman said. "New York had two major, big-time album-rock radio stations: WPLJ and WNEW, both of which played the shit out of the Allman Brothers. The Brothers got major play on both stations and sold a ton of records in New York, and with Bill Graham being the master promoter that he was, he saw how much radio play the band was getting, so he booked them for the Fillmore as much as he could. They became a hot ticket, and that is how the Allman Brothers became so big in New York."

RED will also take over the distribution of several other live shows the band has released over the last few years, including American University (12/12/1970), Stony Brook, NY (9/19/1971), Macon City Auditorium (2/11/1972), Nassau Coliseum 5/1/1973) and Boston Common (8/17/1971).

Since giving their final live performance in 2014, the ABB have remained very active, including various band members taking part in the band's two signature festivals. They host the Wanee Music Festival in April in Live Oak, FL (now in its 12th year) and the Peach Music Festival, held in August in Scranton, PA.

West Coast heavy metal quintet, Media Solution, has signed with Pavement Entertainment for the release of its upcoming EP The Prelude on April 22nd. The single “Destroy Something Beautiful” is streaming below.

The Prelude was recorded with producer/engineer Ulrich Wild (Deftones, Static-X) and Mikey Doling (Snot, Soulfly) in June 2015. It features seven anthems of dark celebration that explore the more lascivious corners of humanity.

"The Prelude, as well as being the return of Media Solution, is the soundtrack of the impending revolution," commented vocalist Robb Sackett. "In a world where money talks, power corrupts, and egos run wild, The Prelude is a battle cry for the voiceless and a warning to all that stand in the way."

The Prelude follows the band's 2010 debut Horizon Of Events, which was produced by Mikey Doling and features guest appearances by Derrick Green and Jean Dolabella of Sepultura.

German thrash metal pioneers ASSASSIN will release their new studio album, "Combat Cathedral", on May 20. The effort will be made available via Steamhammer/SPV worldwide on CD, limited-edition LP (500 copies only on red 180-gram vinyl + CD) and as a digital download. The cover art was created by Marcelo Vasco, who also worked with SLAYER, MACHINE HEAD, SOULFLY and BORKNAGAR. After founding member and vocalist Robert Gonella left ASSASSIN in 2014, new singer Ingo "Crowzak" Bajonczak joined the group and it turned out that he was the right choice for the band. From the first to the last note, the album contains loads of energy and ultra-heavy riffing, making it clear that ASSASSIN is still at the top of the list of German thrash metal bands. Comments ASSASSIN guitarist Jürgen "Scholli" Scholz: "Like back in the '80s, the new album stands for thrash metal at its finest, but after the last album, 'Breaking The Silence', much more mature, developed and with a very fat production. Songs with 220- 240 bpm are not rare, same with groovy mosh parts, which are partially nested into each other and a lot of sticking refrains, which will animate you, to shout them along immediately together with our new singer Crowzak. The opener sums it up perfectly: ASSASSIN are 'back from the dead!'"

Brazilian singer and composer Edu Falaschi (ANGRA, ALMAH) will release his acoustic solo album, "Moonlight", on May 20 via Pride & Joy Music (Europe), Test Your Metal Records (North America), King Records (Japan) and Substancial Music (Brazil).

"Moonlight" is the first Edu Falaschi solo album dedicated to the 25th anniversary of his career as a professional singer and composer. The album is a "best-of" collection and it presents acoustic versions of the most significant songs of Falaschi's career in ANGRA, ALMAH and more. All the material was rearranged for the voice with piano, acoustic guitar and orchestra. "Moonlight" was recorded in São Paulo and Jundiaí (Brazil) at Wink Studio and mixed and mastered by Caio Cesar. The material was recorded with several important Brazilian musicians such as Tiago Mineiro (piano), maestro Adriano Machado (strings arrangements), and two special guests — Joao Frederico Sciotti, known as Derico (flutes and saxophone), and Sandami (percussion).

Falaschi has released a new video for the ANGRA song "Nova Era" (the original version of which appeared on ANGRA's "Rebirth" album in 2001) from "Moonlight". The clip was directed by Rodrigo Rossi (Glow Produções) and filmed in Palace Hotel in Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais (Brazil) in October 2015.

Demonic Resurrection frontman Demonstealer, who recently announced the release of his second solo album This Burden Of Mine featuring George Kollias on drums, has released a new single from the album. A video has been released for the song “When The Hope Withers And Dies” which also features a guest solo from DR axe-man Nishith Hegde and Ashwin Shriyan (also DR) on bass. The album is slated for release on March 25th.

Demonstealer commented, 'The idea was to do like a guitar and vocal play-through of the song but during the shoot it kind of morphed into a music video. It's nothing fancy at all really.”

Sahil Makhija aka Demonstealer, helming bands like Demonic Resurrection and Reptilian Death, teams up with none other than George Kollias of Nile fame on drums, to release a groundbreaking album, This Burden Is Mine. With a vast experience and multiple instrument proficiency, Demonstealer, on the new album creates music that surpasses simple genre categorization, for this is a new blend of styles from all over - from death metal to thrash metal, laced with elegant and stunning atmospheric parts, propelled by the world class drumming of the legend George Kollias.

The debut album from Shiraz Lane, entitled For Crying Out Loud, will be released on April 15th. The band have launched a new EPK (Electronic Press Kit) in support of the upcoming release.

Formed in 2011, Shiraz Lane is a young, energetic, ambitious, authentic hard rock group from Vantaa, Finland. Although wearing inspiration from big masters like Aerosmith, Skid Row and Guns N' Roses on their sleeves, the band has a sound and style all their own. Members of some of the biggest bands in Scandinavia - The 69 Eyes, Amorphis, Children Of Bodom, Lordi and Sonic Syndicate among others - have all described Shiraz Lane as being one of the most entertaining bands they have ever seen in the underground music scene, bringing something new to the table in terms of both music and live performance! Notwithstanding their young age (the band members are all in their 20s), the guys are already veterans of the underground circuit in their homeland and have developed a reputation for being uncompromising, loud and genuine.

"We started working on our debut album in mid-August 2015 after receiving confirmation about details and deadlines from Frontiers Music Srl”, says Miki Kalske. "We were actually extremely busy at the time since we did an extensive Finnish tour in September, so the Shiraz factory was working pretty much around the clock. In retrospect it was good to have a tight agenda, since the songs came out very naturally and with a steady pace. After we felt confident enough with the songs, we joined forces with our producer Ben Varon and analyzed them meticulously, re-arranged parts, rehearsed, re-rehearsed etc. Before hitting the studio to lay down the final tracks."

On the final result, For Crying Out Loud, the band shows they have learned all the tricks in the book and they're now ready to take on the world.

"The album is not conceptual, but it is definitely a tight knitted package so that every song has its own natural place in the running order”, continues Kalske. "All in all the record turned out to be an ass-kicking hard rock gem with a large scope of different emotions and feelings included. Variety would be a good key word to describe the album throughout, although bowing down to our own sound and style. An important notion would be to listen to the lyrics and message we are trying to send to the listeners out there  - we don't wan't to preach, but if our music can act as an eye-opener on some level and send positive vibrations out to the world during these darker times, I would say we have done something right!"

Shiraz Lane debuted with a two song single release, "Out There Somewhere" and "Money Talks" in October 2014. The band expanded upon those two tracks to release a five track EP, Be The Slave Or Be The Change in the spring of 2015. It was extremely well received by both the public and the press in Scandinavia and the single ''Mental Slavery'' could even be described as an underground hit. Following the EP release, the band has put out four music videos, played the biggest Finnish summer festivals and also performed in places like Toronto, Canada, Finland Fest in Tokyo Japan and Wacken Open Air in Germany. In the autumn of 2015, Shiraz Lane did an extensive national tour supporting fellow countrymen Santa Cruz. Although music is not a matter of competition, it should be mentioned the band won the Hard Rock Rising 2014 and Wacken Metal Battle 2015. The hype culminated with an international record deal with Frontiers Music Srl, which was signed and sealed in September.

France's avant-garde black metallers, Glorior Belli, will release a new album entitled Sundown (The Flock That Welcomes) on May 6th via Agonia Records. Steadily climbing the ladder of artistic development, the French band Glorior Belli has developed a very unique sound and image in the often stiff frames found within the black metal genre. While the band's last album Gators Rumble, Chaos Unfurls (2013) was a combination of southern stylistics and crushing heaviness, its upcoming successor Sundown (The Flock That Welcomes) will reveal a new chapter in this unusual relationship of genres, only this time, the emphasis is on the black metal side.

The band is led by Infestvvs (aka Billy Bayou), since its inception in Paris in 2002, who currently takes care of all instruments. He is endorsed by Randall Amplifiers and will be accompanied on stage by fellow Luciferian silhouettes known as "The Innominati".

A teaser for the long-awaited official documentary on Brazilian/American metallers SEPULTURA is available below. The film is being helmed by InterFace Filmes, with Otavio Juliano directing.

Juliano has been following SEPULTURA for the last few years, a time of tension and triumph for the band, as they toured and recorded their albums "Kairos" and "The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart". Nothing has been off limits. This amazing story will go through SEPULTURA's history, myths, conflicts, personnel changes and struggles with the Internet economy in the early 2000s and will include interviews and rare footage.

SEPULTURA recently commenced the songwriting process for the follow-up to "The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart", tentatively due before the end of the year via Nuclear Blast.

SEPULTURA released a limited-edition seven-inch single to mark its 30th anniversary. "Under My Skin" features artwork of fan tattoos on its cover, with a live version of "Kairos" on the b-side. The single was issued on black, yellow and green vinyl, with only 200 copies of each version pressed.

"The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart" came out on October 29, 2013 via Nuclear Blast.

Fan-filmed video footage of CINDERELLA frontman Tom Keifer performing the band's classic songs "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)" and "Nobody's Fool" with his solo group — including his wife, Nashville singer-songwriter Savannah Snow — at the Magic City Casino in Miami, Florida on January 20 can be seen below.

Asked how writing solo material is different from composing music for CINDERELLA, Tom told RockNLive in a 2015 interview: "It's creating music. I write from the same place, whether it was with CINDERELLA or with this [Keifer's debut solo debut, 2013's 'The Way Life Goes']. I try to write from real-life experiences and emotions and things I've gone through or observed other people going through. And that's really the start of all of it. The songs are the foundation of everything. So I work very much in the same way in terms of the writing. And then, you get into the studio and the process is the same; you're trying to get out of the studio monitors what you heard in your head when you first got that song inspiration. So, yeah, it's very much the same."

Snow had an emergency appendectomy on September 20, 2015 after suffering abdominal pains prior to Tom's concert in Houston. Tom told Eddie Trunk during an appearance the next day on Trunk's SiriusXM satellite radio show, "Eddie Trunk Live": "It's crazy, man. We had a really, really bad scare. We were down touring through Texas and Oklahoma, and she started to feel very sick and have a lot of pain on [September 19]. By the time we got on the bus [after the Houston show that night], she looked so bad, I said, 'We're going straight to the emergency room when we get back to Nashville.' And sure enough, she had appendicitis. It had ruptured, and she went under emergency appendectomy. So really, really scary. She's doing better now, though. The surgery went well."

Savannah wrote and co-produced some of "The Way Life Goes", which sold 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 78 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on in April 2013 via Merovee Records (through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group).

During a recent appearance on the official podcast of Canadian rocker Danko Jones, KREATOR frontman Mille Petrozza spoke about his love for early METALLICA and where he hopes to see James Hetfield and Co. go on their next studio release.

"I really wish that METALLICA would put out an album that blows aways everyone," Mille said (hear audio below). "[2008's 'Death Magnetic'] was not great, [but it was] better than the one before [2003's 'St. Anger'].

"They had one song [on 'Death Magnetic'] that got me — the one that sounded like… The ballad that turned into [a] LED ZEPPELIN [kind of thing; referring to 'The Day That Never Comes']. That was a good song."

He continued: "I didn't like the sound [of 'Death Magnetic'] too much. The guitar tone was not really crispy. I think that one guy that [producer] Rick Rubin's working with [engineer/producer Greg Fidelman], he has a bad taste for guitar tone. He has this weird, non-distorted tone that might fit to some rock acts or whatever, but not to METALLICA. It sounds like the Tube Screamer [effects pedal] is turned off, you know what I mean? [Laughs]"

Mille went on to say that the musical side of things is not the only element of METALLICA's current direction that he finds disappointing. "With METALLICA, I'm missing the lyrics also, I'm missing the stories, I'm missing the political edge. You know what I mean? I'm missing the rebellious spirit, so to speak," he explained.

Mille added: "That's one of my all-time favorite bands that I was really looking up to and was, like, 'Yeah, yeah, they're right. They sang something true in their lyrics. Look at how they put this and what they think about this and that, and nowadays I'm just not interested anymore. It's weird."

KREATOR is working on material for the follow-up to its 2012 album, "Phantom Antichrist", for a tentative 2017 release.

"Phantom Antichrist" sold 3,900 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at No. 1 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
