PRETTY MAIDS Singer RONNIE ATKINS Launches NORDIC UNIONFrontiers Music Srl will release the self-titled debut album from NORDIC UNION on January 29, 2016.
NORDIC UNION is the name behind the new musical collaboration, built by Frontiers president Serafino Perugino, between singer Ronnie Atkins of the legendary Danish hard rock institution PRETTY MAIDS and the up-and-coming Swedish songwriter and producer Erik Martensson of ECLIPSE and W.E.T. fame.
The partnership between the two fellow Scandinavians worked well and together they have created some musical magic, which will truly impress the fans of these highly regarded musicians. Atkins says: "The music on the album has a focus on good melodies and there's some good guitar work as well. I had a good gut feeling ever since I heard the first songs from Erik Martensson, and I was right he's a very gifted and talented songwriter!"
These songs are guaranteed not to leave your head for a long time. Just have a listen to the gorgeous anthemic opener "The War Has Begun" and some killer melodic gems like "When Death Is Calling", "21 Guns" and "Hypocrisy" with great hooks and epic guitar riffs. "Wide Awake" can be described as a combination between pop and melodic rock with a modern production. There's really something for everyone here!
"While PRETTY MAIDS is still my first priority" explains Ronnie, "the production process and the work on this record went very smoothly. I think what came out is a killer melodic hard rock album with a lot of good songs on it. I could really feel the songs as mine and identify with those. So I hope the fans will be able to share my view and it's been some kind of a little fresh breath in between albums for me, really."

INTOLITARIAN Sign With Hells Headbangers; Preparing Double Album DebutHells Headbangers has confirmed with signing of North America's Intolitarian. Spearheaded by notorious provocateur Antichrist Kramer - and, in the past, rumored to include members of Deathspell Omega, Incantation, Anal Cunt, and Godless North, but with more recent lineups always changing, no one but Kramer knows for sure - Intolitarian will release its next album, Modernity Resistance, Pt.1 - Cesspool Annihilation and Pt.2 - Societal Holocaust - slated to be a massive double-CD/LP work, with each album featuring a different lineup - during the second half of next year via Hells Headbangers.
Without hyperbole, there is nothing else around in any current musical landscape that sounds quite like Intolitarian. Sonically, Intolitarian mainlines elements of grindcore, black metal, power electronics, noisecore, and powerviolence, but mangles them in such an overwhelming, over-the-top manner that the sound is uniquely its own, and thus its own self-proclaimed style of berserker blackgrind noisecore. As such, Intolitarian seeks to punish the listener, unleashing undulating waves of audial violence, tormenting one's ears to the brink of uncomfort and then obliterating the beyond. The crusade for abject cruelty began with 2011's Omnicidal Murderer EP and then was followed by two albums, 2012's Berserker Savagery and 2014's Deathangle Absolution, all of which successively found fervent devotion in the darkest corridors of the underground - as well as widespread controversy, particularly for Intolitarian's provocative use of spoken word, which is strategically utilized to bring the reality of the entity to the forefront.
Beyond the sheer sonics, however, Intolitarian is even more distinct in its aesthetic presentation. Each release features its own color scheme, and every release has a two-word/seven-syllable title. Visually, the graphics and layout utilized by Antichrist Kramer are distinctly his own, instilling shock and awe, terror and tension. Each element of his artwork and each unique sigil serves a strategic purpose; nothing is left to chance. Altogether, it's a stark and unforgiving canvas, and the perfect visual representation of everything Intolitarian's music and lyrics embody: hatred and fear, domination and submission, total intolerance. Intolitarian is UNpolitically correct - no apologies, no remorse, no one is safe.
A statement from Antichrist Kramer reads: "Intolitarian is my declaration of war. My harnessed revenge and attack on every single one of you. You, the weak, parasitic, subvermin sacks of flesh, greedily feeding from the trough of enslavement, deception, and inferiority... You, the hollow, pathetic, willing, and unwilling pawns of the enslaver. Created through mental conditioning and indoctrination to become their drone servants. Slaves created to assist in the carrying out of their domination agenda, their control, and the enslavement of all beings in this world, and to keep those few such as myself, at bay, and doing whatever is necessary to try to keep me under control. The vicious hatred and scorn that has been seething, boiling, and festering within me for over three and a half decades, that has been manifested and weaponized into the cymatic blade held against your neck. This was not created and I do not exist for your pleasure, acceptance, support, or adulation. This is not for fame, recognition, or stardom. This is my revenge. This is my weapon. This is my declaration. This is my absolution. Kneel before the Hate Legion... Intolitarian does not exist for pleasure. Intolitarian exists for pain."
Current lineup:
Antichrist Kramer - vocals, strings
Storm - hammers
Exterminator - hammers
RZM - strings
Cremator - strings

ALL THAT REMAINS Guitarist On 'The Order Of Things': 'There's Such A Great Variety On The Album'ROCKwell UnScene's conducted an interview with ALL THAT REMAINS guitarist Oli Herbert at the Aftershock festival, which was held October 24-25 at the Gibson Ranch, just outside Sacramento, California. You can now watch the chat below.
Asked what makes ALL THAT REMAINS's new album, "The Order Of Things", so great, Oli responded: "I feel 'The Order Of Things' is probably one of our strongest records we've ever done, because we had Josh Wilbur come in and produce it, and I think that his contribution, especially to the vocal ideas, really makes it pop. And there's such a great variety on the album. So if you like the heavy stuff, we've got it. If you like the softer stuff, we've got a little of that. But I think it's all around a really polished, really great ALL THAT REMAINS record."
ALL THAT REMAINS recently parted ways with bassist Jeanne Sagan and replaced her with Aaron Patrick (BURY YOUR DEAD, DEVILDRIVER).
"The Order Of Things" followed up ALL THAT REMAINS's 2012 effort, "A War You Cannot Win", which featured the massive rock singles "What If I Was Nothing" and the chart-topping "Stand Up".

Dozens Feared Dead At EAGLES OF DEATH METAL Show In Night Of Violence In Paris**UPDATE**: EAGLES OF DEATH METAL have posted a message on their Facebook page. It reads as follows: "We are still currently trying to determine the safety and whereabouts of all our band and crew. Our thoughts are with all of the people involved in this tragic situation."
Dozens of people were feared dead and scores taken hostage in a series of violent terror attacks in Paris, France, with one of the reported targets the music venue where EAGLES OF DEATH METAL were playing. At least 100 hostages were taken hostage at Bataclan theater and a number of people killed in an attack that lasted between 10 and 15 minutes. According to multiple early reports, several hostages escaped from the 1,500-capacity venue, although dozens remained inside. An eyewitness told CNN that he saw at least 20 dead bodies at the theater.
CNN affiliate BFMTV reports that SWAT units stormed the Bataclan concert hall and that the siege is over. Two attackers were killed, a police union said.
There were reportedly several attackers in the Bataclan looking for concertgoers who were in hiding. They also said that there was a shootout in the street, with police "firing at a rooftop position near the venue." The New York Times reported that a witness told French television that someone shouted "Allahu Akbar," "God is greatest," as the shooting occurred.
The mother of one of the EAGLES OF DEATH METAL members told the Washington Post her son and other band members escaped, although some crew remained trapped as hostages. The wife of drummer Julian Dorio confirmed to The Washington Post that he and other band members are okay.
"We are just holding our breath and saying prayers for everyone," Emily Dorio said. "[Julian] called to say that he loved me and he was safe. Everyone on stage was able to get off."
The band had reportedly been on stage for about an hour when the attack occurred.
At least 100 people are believed to have been killed in the attacks, with President Francois Hollande shutting France's borders and declaring a national state of emergency.
"This is a terrible test, another assault on France," Hollande said. "We must, in these difficult moments, prove our our compassion and unity. Faced with terrorism, France must above all be strong. Each of us has a personal responsibility. There is much to fear, but facing these fears is a nation that knows how to muster its forces and will confront the terrorists."
EAGLES OF DEATH METAL is the California-based band founded in 1998 by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE mainman Josh Homme and Jesse Hughes. The group was on the first stop of its 25-date tour of Europe to support its fourth studio album, "Zipper Down".
Despite their name, EAGLES OF DEATH METAL are not considered a "death metal" band — but rather the moniker was cooked up after a member mused aloud that their sound would be what THE EAGLES sounded like if they attempted to play death metal.
Homme spoke on the topic of terrorism to Rolling Stone in September, joking that EAGLES OF DEATH METAL's most recent album seemed to have helped combat violent mass attacks.
"We put out a record and human rights are better, the world feels better, people make more money, there's less anger, people are more respectful to women and to homosexuals, and they're generally nicer each other, they're kinder to each other, and that's why we really felt like it was time to let the healing begin," he said.
Upcoming acts scheduled to play at the theater include the DEFTONES this coming Saturday and Sunday evenings. 130

VOLBEAT Parts Ways With Bassist ANDERS KJØLHOLMIn connection with the planning and preparation of VOLBEAT's extensive future plans and wishes for 2016 and onward, the Danish/American rock 'n' rollers have parted ways with bassist Anders Kjølholm. All matters related hereto have been mutually and respectfully agreed upon.
VOLBEAT guitarist/vocalist Michael Poulsen and drummer Jon Larsen elaborate: "Anders has been a loyal friend and bandmate since 2001. We've toured most parts of the world and shared experiences that only few bands get to do. We're very thankful for this and wish Anders all the best in the future."
Added Anders: "It has been a great experience to be part of the VOLBEAT family for so long and I wish Michael, Jon and Rob [Caggiano, guitar], everyone involved with the band and of course all the fans all the best on the continued journey.
All announced shows will happen as planned.
VOLBEAT performed a brand new song, "The Devil's Bleeding Crown", in full live for the first time on August 1 in front of over 37,000 people at Tusindarsskoven in Odense, Denmark.
Speaking about the progress of the songwriting sessions for VOLBEAT's follow-up to 2013's "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies" album, Poulsen told the Columbus, Ohio radio station 99.7 The Blitz at the Rock On The Range festival in May: "Right now I'm writing on the road. We have rehearsed around five new songs in soundcheck. So, hopefully, before we go home in a couple of weeks, we will have six new songs and then I have to finish the second half [of the album] when I come home. And then we'll be ready for the studio around November."
VOLBEAT recently signed a North American management agreement with Q Prime, the New York-based music management firm founded and run by Cliff Burnstein and Peter Mensch.
Since forming in Copenhagen in 2000, VOLBEAT has released five studio albums and two live offerings.
"Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies" has sold almost 300,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. The title has been certified platinum in their home country of Denmark, alongside Germany and Austria, with gold sales in Finland and Sweden. The album has also been certified gold in Canada.
VOLBEAT earlier in the year completed a North American tour with support from ANTHRAX and CROBOT. 1

DEFTONES Complete Mixing New AlbumDEFTONES frontman Chino Moreno was interviewed on this week's edition of BBC Radio 1's "Rock Show" with Daniel P. Carter. You can now listen to the chat using the widget below.
Speaking about the progress of the mixing sessions for DEFTONES' long-awaited follow-up to 2012's "Koi No Yokan", Chino said: "Well, yesterday (November 7), we actually finished the last mix — or at least approved the last mix. So now it's just time to sequence the songs and master them, and we should be done. So aside from… Artwork still is something that we're working on, but we're making some progress with that. [The] album title [is] close, but not all the way there yet, and songtitles as well. But that's usually the stuff that's sort of the last stuff to come together. But, I mean, as far as the music, it's done, it's sounding good and we're excited about it."
Asked about the "vibe" of the new DEFTONES material, Chino said: "I can't really compare it to our last couple of records. I mean, those two records were done in a very similar manner where we locked ourselves in a room for a short period of time and wrote and recorded it. And therefore, I feel like we sort of really captured this moment in time, and the records sort of sound cohesive because of that. This record was done sort of over a year, spread out over these little, tiny writing sections. So it sounds a bit more fragmented, but in a good way. I mean, I feel like you put on one song and it's completely different from the song after it, or previous to it. So it's not like we had this one main idea and we went in and we sort of went with that vibe. I mean, the vibe's sort of all over the place. So, like any DEFTONES record, I mean, it's got dynamics and there's loud aggressiveness and there's mellowness to it, but it's all sort of got an ebb and flow to it. I don't know… It'd be hard for me to just put it in words exactly what it sounds like. It's definitely a DEFTONES record. The way I look at it is it's a gradual step from where we last were."
Moreno also revealed that DEFTONES hope to debut a new song during their November 21 appearance at the SSE Arena Wembley in London, England.
According to Moreno, sixteen songs were written for DEFTONES' new CD, which was once again produced by Matt Hyde (SLAYER, CHILDREN OF BODOM, MONSTER MAGNET, WINDS OF PLAGUE). The effort will feature a guest appearance by Jerry Cantrell (ALICE IN CHAINS).

British Psychedelic Legends THE ZOMBIES Premier “Moving On” Music VideoIconic British psychedelic legends, The Zombies, have released the official music video for “Moving On”, the lead single from their new full-length studio album, Still Got That Hunger, available now via The End Records.
The video was shot at their sold-out New York City show during their recent and historic US tour. Says founding member and keyboardist Rod Argent, "I actually started this song in 1977 when I wrote one couplet on hearing of Elvis' death. For some reason it has stayed in my mind all these years, although it's no longer about Elvis. When I was writing material for this record for some reason I couldn't get that couplet out of my mind. And I developed the whole song lyrically and musically. What I like about this video is that it captures a typical day in our life on tour in America, and particularly where we first played, New York, which we still love so many years later.”

WHORE PAINT Streaming New Track “Dogs”Celebrated Providence, Rhode Island underground rock band, Whore Paint, will release its new album, Ultra Sound, on November 27th via Translation Loss Records. The new track, “Dogs”, is streaming below.
Boasting a powerful sound the trio describes as "a riff rock / no wave / crooner shred hybrid", Whore Paint creates unapologetically wild primal dark rock that lunges and jerks with a fiery post-punk spirit. Recorded at RI's Machines With Magnets studios (Battles, Empty Flowers, Six Finger Satellite), Ultra Sound is the follow-up to the band's 2013 LP, Swallow My Bones, a recording that was hailed as "mind melting" by The Big Takeover.
Whore Paint - Hilary Jones (guitar), Meredith Stern (drums) and Rebecca Mitchell(vocals) - formed in 2010 when Mitchell and Stern were working at as220, a Providence non-profit community arts center. Jones, who holds a PhD in Behavioral Science Psychology with a focus in Gender and Multiculturalism is the Executive Director of "Girls Rock! RI", where Mitchell also teaches and serves on the board. Working with young girls and music, and previously as a sexual violence prevention educator, Jones found a need for alternative examples for young women. "By portraying power in our music and performance, we are hoping to provide an alternative example to the current script that girls are experiencing in the rest of culture,” says Jones.
Citing shared influences including the likes of Nick Cave, Lydia Lunch, Danzig, the Golden Girls, Girls Rock! students and Dolly Parton (“Anybody that thinks they have to swear and act like a dick on stage to get noticed needs to just meditate on Dolly for a few hours,” Mitchell notes), the band released its first EP, Menarchy, in 2011 to rousing response. But it was the group's 2013 full-length, Swallow My Bones that fully galvanized the trio.
“We find ourselves aligned in many ways: ideologically, aesthetically, politically, and musically," states Mitchell. "Being women is one of many things we have in common. It basically rules.” Now, with the impending release of Ultra Sound, Whore Paint is set to deliver its strongest statement of intent to date. The record is a furious recording that delivers the same effects as the band's searing live sets: domination and devastation of its audience, leaving mouths agape, eardrums split and ideologies flexed.
Tracklisting:
“Maiden”
“Locked In Water”
“Dogs”
“This Quiet”
“Run”
“Breathe With The Light On”
“Waste”
“Held”

NIKKI SIXX: 'Everybody Knows' GUNS N' ROSES Is Reuniting For World TourMÖTLEY CRÜE and SIXX: A.M. bassist Nikki Sixx says that "everybody knows" the classic lineup of GUNS N' ROSES is reforming for a world tour.
Asked by a fan on Twitter if GUNS N' ROSES should do a reunion tour, Sixx responded: "THEY ARE. EVERYBODY KNOWS."
One of Sixx's bandmates in SIXX: A.M. is DJ Ashba, who played guitar for GUNS N' ROSES for six years before announcing his departure this past July.
Meanwhile, Vicky Hamilton, who is best known for managing the early careers of GUNS N' ROSES and POISON, in addition to serving as a management consultant for MÖTLEY CRÜE, revealed in a Facebook post that she was "texting with [former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist] Slash," who apparently told her that the rumored GUNS N' ROSES tour "isn't happening."
A report from Dish Nation on Tuesday claimed that a reunion tour of the classic GUNS N' ROSES is "close to being revealed," with the band allegedly headlining several major festivals in Europe and the U.S. before embarking on a worldwide tour to mark its 30th anniversary. A source explained: "Slash and Axl have verbally agreed to get things together again and reform the original band. The live shows is where they can show the world what they had and also make the greatest earnings."
The source added: "Promoters are quietly working away to land opportunities. Details of the reunion are expected to leak out in the next few days. Everyone is expecting huge demand for tickets, but the boys are very humble and are not sure what to expect."
According to other reports, the band has already been approached about playing shows in Australia, Portugal and Sweden.
Rumors about a reunion have been heating up ever since the summer, when Slash revealed that he and singer Axl Rose had repaired their relationship after nearly 20 years of estrangement.
The longtime feud between Slash and Rose has been seen for some time as the main stumbling block to a reunion of the original lineup, which has not performed together in 24 years.
Several members have recently left the current lineup of GUNS N' ROSES, which features Rose as the sole original member. The band has not performed live since last year.
The band's Twitter account has posted several cryptic messages lately, furthering talk of a reunion. 2

"Moth To Flame" is the first track from the band's forthcoming second album for Svart Records, tentatively slated for international release in March 2106.
With this track being but a taste of the dark grooves ahead, that new album, Purgatory Under New Management, will include eight diabolical tracks of stoned epic melancholy. You could hypothetically view it as Dante and Bosch giving birth to Rosemary's baby, like a tortured sibling to Goatess' widely celebrated self-titled debut album.
Musically, Purgatory Under New Management is a natural progression, summing up the aspects and layers of harsh realities the band has been facing since then. Are you ready to face your inner most darkest demons? Take the challenge with Goatess' "Moth To Flame”:

MOTÖRHEAD's LEMMY Is 'Devastated' By Loss Of PHIL 'PHILTHY ANIMAL' TAYLORMOTÖRHEAD frontman Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister has paid tribute to the band's former drummer Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor, who died on Wednesday, November 11 at the age of 61.
Lemmy told U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine that he is "devastated" to have lost one of his best friends as he also remembered former MOTÖRHEAD guitarist Michael "Würzel" Burston, who died in 2011.
Lemmy said: "I'm feeling very sad at the moment, in fact devastated, because one of my best friends died yesterday. I miss him already. His name was Phil Taylor, or Philthy Animal, and he was our drummer twice in our career. Now he's died and it really pisses me off that they take somebody like him and leave George Bush alive. So muse on that."
He continued: "We're still going, we're still going strong, it's just first Würzel and now Philthy, it's a shame man. I think this rock 'n' roll business might be bad for the human life."
Taylor played in MOTÖRHEAD from 1975 to 1984 and again from 1987 to 1992. He appeared on the band's debut album, "On Parole", and played on a further ten albums, including 1979's "Bomber", 1980's "Ace Of Spades", and 1982's "Iron Fist".
Taylor contributed to MOTÖRHEAD's 1992 album "March Or Die" but departed the band during the recording process. The album was completed by drummers Tommy Aldridge and current sticksman Mikkey Dee.
Other Phil Taylor tributes on Twitter:
Ozzy Osbourne: "It's a terrible, terrible loss. He was a great friend - great drummer — a great guy and he will be dearly missed. Today is a very sad day for me. Rest in peace — and he still owes me 500 bucks from that time in Vegas."
METALLICA: "RIP Phil ‘Philthy Animal’ Taylor. You inspired us beyond words."
Slash (ex-GUNS N' ROSES): "Sad, sad news about losing Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor. One of the best drummers in rock'n'roll. RIP Phil, you will be missed. A lot."
Dave Mustaine (MEGADETH): "I am very sad to hear about the passing of Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor. My condolences to his family. Rest In Peace Phil."
Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, THE WINERY DOGS): "RIP Philthy Animal Taylor. Motorhead's Overkill was one of the first double bass songs I ever learned."
Arejay Hale (HALESTORM): "RIP Philthy Animal Taylor, you crazy motherfucker! Go rock some heavenly drums and make the angels deaf."
Jamey Jasta (HATEBREED): "What a legend. He changed the world of heavy metal drumming. Double bass animal. Gonna go blare Overkill in his honor." 18

HELHEIM - New Album’s Title Track StreamingOver four years have passed since Helheim released their last album, and now the veteran Norwegian Viking metallers are set to release their eighth full-length album on December 4th via Dark Essence Records. Titled raunijaR, the album was recorded at Conclave & Earshot Studio by Vulture Industries’ Bjørnar Nilsen and was mastered by Enslaved’s Herbrand Larsen. The album’s title track is streaming below.
In the intervening years between 2011's Heiðindómr ok Mótgangr and the upcoming release of raunijaR, Helheim have been both experimenting with, and building on, their unique take on the Viking metal genre. As well as completing the themes that have woven their way through Helheim's music since the very beginning, it is with raunijaR that the band completes the Åsgards Fall storyline that began with the EP of that name in 2010.
Helheim's lineup comprises V'gandr on bass and vocals, H’grimnir on guitar and vocals, Hrymr on drums and Noralf on guitars. V'gandr himself has been expanding and perfecting his clean vocals, and now, when the two vocalists combine to sing clean vocals, new elements are added to the band's sound. Guest vocals on raunijaR come from Alfahanne’s Pehr Skjoldhammer and Norwegian musician William Hut, with additional guests performing on violin, piano and horns to further enhance Helheim's dark and heavy atmospheres and create a truly epic masterpiece.
Artwork is by H'grimnir from coverart.no.
Tracklisting:
“Helheim 9”
“raunijar”
“Åsgards Fall III”
“Åsgards Fall IV”
“Odr”
“raunijar”:
Commenting on raunijaR V'gandr had this to say: "The opening track "Helheim 9" is actually the last in the line of the Helheim tracks where Hrymr in particular has been the creative force. He has combined his unique creativity and symbolism in a way that overwhelms everything that came before, and the result is a truly fitting closure.
"The title track "raunijaR" continues on from Helheim's "Heiðindómr ok Mótgangr", and has a relentlessly driving sound that showcases the confrontational, yet familiar, black metal sound in the vein of "Dualitet og Ulver". "Åsgards Fall" Parts 3 and 4 will be the final and vital link in the completion of the theme that was begun in both lyrical and musical terms with the "Åsgards Fall" MCD. Closing the album is "Odr", a solemn track that gives the album an ending full of the grandeur and respect that it deserves."
In November Helheim will make a special appearance at BlekkMetal Festival which runs from the 13th to the 15th November at USF Verftet in Bergen. The one-off event is billed as a tribute to the birth of the Norwegian black metal scene, and will hark back to the atmosphere, bands, art and individuals from the scene pre 1994. Helheim will perform their debut album Jormundgand on Saturday, November 14th to mark the 20th Anniversary of its release. They will also be interviewed live on stage along with Enslaved, and will be discussing how their lyrical narratives and their musical craft have been influenced by their Viking roots and traditions.
Included on the BlekkMetal bill are veteran bands such as Taake, Kampfar, Aeternus, Hades Almighty, Gehenna, Enslaved, and brand new bands such Gaahls Wyrd, and a special onetime only reunion of the legendary Old Funeral. Also appearing will be The C.L.A.S.P. Ritual /Dirge Rep - a tribute band consisting of legendary musicians such as Dirge Rep himself, Skagg, Gaahl, Garm and many more.
Some of the top Norwegian tattoo artists will be present at the event, and will be available for appointments, including, Colin Dale, Kai Uwe Faust and Tor Ola Svennevig, three Viking tattooists who work entirely by hand, without the use of machines. Art exhibitions, movies and guest speakers will also be featured at the event. More information about the BlekkMetal Festival, as well as ticket details can be found at www.blekkmetal.com.

THE MOTH GATHERER Streaming New Track “The Black Antlers”Swedish atmospheric doom metallers, with strong sludge and post-rock influences, The Moth Gatherer, will release their second full-length album, The Earth Is The Sky, on November 27th via Agonia Records. In anticipation, the band has revealed another brand new track, “The Black Antlers”, streaming below.
The Swedes took their time after A Bright Celestial Light - their warmly received debut album - was released in 2013. While the effort was immediately slated as a solid first step for a newcomer, the band quickly focused on their next chapter and devoted two years to perfect their vision. In return, The Earth Is The Sky feels more mature and multi-dimensional, with a breathtaking effect. Based on the formula of progressive riffs and twists through tempos, the album makes use of hypnotic passages mixed with tranquil moments and lusciously vibrant heaviness. On top of that, The Moth Gatherer contionues to experiment with different influences and emotions, to invoke a galvanizing response.
Commented the band: "The Earth Is The Sky is an album where we tried to take everything as far as we could. There where points during the recording where we honestly spoke about giving up and calling it a day, it felt like we would crumble under the album. But we suffered through. The result is a desperation about how humanity drags it all to the end. Where A Bright Celestial Light was an introvert journey into decay, The Earth Is The Sky is a journey to the highest point on Earth where you sit down and contemplate about our existence while watching the flames from the burning world.”
The Earth Is The Sky features some notable guests, including: David Johansson from Kongh, Wacian from Code, The Cuukoo from Terra Tenebrosa as well as Thomas Jäger from Monolord.
The album was recorded recorded over a period of two years in three different studios and mixed & mastered by Karl Daniel Lidén (Dozer, The Old Wind, Switchblade, Terra Tenebrosa). The artwork has been made by SCG, while Swedish printer, EJG, prepared the layout, creating an exclusive painting for each of the six tracks the album features.
Trackslisting:
“Pale Explosions”
“Attacus Atlas”
“Probing The Descent Of Man”

BLOODIEST Announce New Album; “Mesmerize” Track StreamingChicago six-piece experimental ensemble, Bloodiest, have announced their sophomore full-length due out January 15th via Relapse Records. Featuring current and former members of Russian Circles, Corrections House, and Yakuza, Bloodiest have taken the distinctive genre-bending, wall-of-sound heaviness they forged on their debut album Descent to an entirely new level. The album's first single "Mesmerize" is streaming below.
Recorded and produced by Chicago super-producer Sanford Parker (YOB, Minsk) and guitarist Tony Lazzara, Bloodiest is a testament to the band’s cinematic vision. Listeners willing to look into the darkness will find themselves taken on a storm-tossed, cathartic journey - and might even see the dawn after all.
Though the name of Chicago six-piece experimental ensemble Bloodiest might trick you into thinking that the band’s interests lie with gore-obsessed death metal, that couldn’t be farther from the reality of things. And that’s just the way the band likes it - while Bloodiest might toe the lines of countless extreme metal genres and are run through with dark imagery, the band, who contain current and former Russian Circles, Corrections House, and Yakuza members, don’t even consider Bloodiest a metal band. In one sense, that’s totally accurate - there are no blast beats, no subterranean gutturals in the band’s music - but while Bloodiest’s exterior might not be strictly “metal”, the energy, heaviness, and intensity the band conveys undoubtedly are.
Unlike most experimental metal acts that seek to add spice to their metal with elements of other styles, Bloodiest take the opposite approach. The band uses metal to harden and sharpen its attack, which at its core is composed more of rock and avant-garde themes than it is of extreme metal. Much like experimental heavyweights Swans or Neurosis, Bloodiest lean towards the haunting and mysterious, the epic and theatrical, pairing cloying and dense atmospheres with unsettling spaces and voids. But Bloodiest’s capacity for delicacy, grace, and subtlety, which may even challenge that of those two giants, is what really separates them from the rest of the pack. In 2011, the band released its debut full-length Descent, which was widely praised by publications as distinct as MetalSucks, The Chicago Reader, and The Huffington Post for its uniqueness and black-hole heaviness, and which put the band on the map for listeners of all forms of heavy music.
Now, Bloodiest are back with their second full-length of ritualistically heavy orchestrations. The self-titled new album takes the distinctive genre-bending, wall-of-sound the band forged on Descent to an entirely new level. Droning melodies, earth-shaking riffs, and trance-inducing atmosphere sounds wrap around one another in a tight, cohesive package. Produced by Sanford Parker (YOB, Minsk) and the band's own Tony Lazzara and led by the distinctive wail of frontman Bruce Lamont (Yakuza, Corrections House), Bloodiest have further established themselves as an inimitable force both in and beyond heavy music. As cinematic and cathartic as it is crushing and cruel, Bloodiest is one of the most dynamic and rewarding works modern, forward-thinking music has seen in years.
Tracklisting:
“Mesmerize”
“The Widow”
“Condition”
“Broken Teeth”
“Mind Overlaps”
“He Is Disease”
“Separation”
“Suffer”
“Mesmerize”:
