Legendary guitarist Slash (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER) will release a special three-disc special enhanced edition of his acclaimed sophomore album, "Apocalyptic Love", exclusively at Best Buy on November 19. The collection includes the full 15-track version of the CD, including bonus songs "Crazy Life" and "Carolina", eight unreleased acoustic tracks from the group's Guitar Center Sessions as well as the "Live From NY" concert DVD from Slash's sold-out record-release show filmed live at Irving Plaza in New York City. "Apocalyptic Love", came out in May and was recently certified gold in Australia by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) for sales in excess of 35,000 copies.

"[The album has] been really well received and I was really pleased with the record in the first place; it's great," Slash said. "You never know what exactly is going to happen and I never have any what you'd call expectations, but once it's out there and people sort of dig it for the right reasons, it's always a good feeling."

Slash recently revealed that he and singer Myles Kennedy have already begun working on music for the guitarist's next album, to be recorded sometime next year.

"We are working on material, gathering ideas for another [record] at this point," Slash told Rapid City Journal. "We are sort of like in those early stages where I'm just recording different guitar ideas and I turn Myles on to it. He's thinking about his stuff and what he's going to do with it and so on."

Scion Audio/Visual, (a.k.a. Scion A/V), the in-house record label and lifestyle marketing division of the Scion marque produced by Toyota Motor Corporation for the North American market, will release "Megalodon", the new EP from Raleigh, North Carolina legends CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, on November 13. Entitled "Megalodon", the effort will feature "five heavy tracks."

In a recent interview with Revolver magazine, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY guitarist Woody Weatherman stated about the band's forthcoming EP, "It's totally done, mixed and mastered, and we just got finished with it this past week. And I think it's coming out in about three or four weeks. It's a pretty quick turnaround, which is unusual in this day and age, but they can do it, they can make it happen … We did that in our hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina, which is kind of nice, to be able to hang around in town and not have to go out somewhere, go to L.A. or New York. Sometimes it's nice to record at home. You get a little better vibe. Plus I got to use all of my own gear. So it was fun."

Candlelight Records has just re-released CORROSION OF CONFORMITY's "Eye For An Eye". This special reissue has been remastered/packaged and includes the EP "Six Songs With Mike Singing". Both titles have been out of print for years. It follows the successful release of the band's self-titled album earlier this year. A deluxe digibook edition of the album, limited to 1000 for North America, is available at limited retailers and via Candlelight's official webstore. The digibook version includes extended liner notes and a rare pictorial gallery.

Originally released in 1984, "Eye For An Eye" featured the original lineup of Weatherman, bassist Mike Dean, drummer Reed Mullin and vocalist Eric Eycke. Reissued to incorporate the 1989 EP by Mike Dean (who left the band between 1987-1992), "Eye For An Eye" is raw in sound but focused on message. The years that followed would see the band rise to worldwide popularity with breakthrough and Billboard-charting releases "Blind" and "Deliverance".

Formed in Raleigh in 1982, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY quickly transformed heavy music. Politically charged and socially aware, the band has influenced countless others and today remains humble about their accomplishments. With over 1.1 million albums sold in the United States, the band continues to find new fans via nonstop touring.

Finnish metallers CHILDREN OF BODOM have been forced to cancel their appearance at next year's edition of the Tuska festival, set to take place June 28-30, 2013 in Suvilahti, Helsinki, Finland.

Commented CHILDREN OF BODOM bassist Henkka Seppälä (a.k.a. Henkka T. Blacksmith): "We've been waiting to play Tuska for some years now. It is our home festival after all. Unfortunately, this year we have to sacrifice a couple of festivals in Europe in order to be able to be part of a big tour in USA. These are not easy nor nice decisions. We only can hope we can do Tuska in the near future again.

"Please stay tuned for our schedules for summer 2013. Fortunately, we are able to play shows in Europe as well. Looking forward!"

CHILDREN OF BODOM recently inked a Japanese record deal with Marquee Inc. The label will release the band's new album in late spring/early summer 2013. The CD will be made available in other parts of the world via the band's new label home, Nuclear Blast Records. The group's drummer, Jaska Raatikainen, recently wrote on his Facebook page, "We have some songs ready and I must say that they really sound great — very inspiring, dark and also little 'black' [metal]-ish. We have been joking about [CHILDREN OF BODOM guitarist/vocalist] Alexi [Laiho], that one day he will come to rehearsals with corpsepaint :-) ! So dark the songs have been."

CHILDREN OF BODOM released a photo book, "Roadkill", on August 8 via Hatecrew.com. The first 666 copies are numbered and personally signed by the band.

Photography for "Roadkill" started in 2007. It includes exclusive material of life on the road, shows, promo shoots, recording sessions, album cover production and the worldwide "hate crew," as the band's fans are affectionately known. The book also contains comments and diary entries by the band and the photographer, Jussi Hyttinen of FLC415.

CHILDREN OF BODOM's most recent release was "Holiday At Lake Bodom (15 Years Of Wasted Youth)" , a very special CD+DVD career retrospective in celebration of the band's 15th anniversary.

Vocalist Gerrit Mohr has left Münster, Germany-based melodic death/thrash metallers MOURNING CARESS for "private reasons."

Commented Gerrit: "This is it. I am out. It's such a strange feeling, but it's a well-considered decision. I still love the band, the music and the insane boys — that's for sure — but sometimes it's necessary to draw the line. 15 years of friendship, joy, M.E.T.A.L., tragedy, madness, sadness and really bad jokes will forever be carved in my mind. MOURNING CARESS' third album, "Deep Wounds, Bright Scars", was released in November 2011 via the German label MDD Records. The CD was recorded and mixed at DocMaKlang studios in Osnabrück, Germany with producer Matthias Lohmöller and was mastered by Ulf Horbelt at DMS in Marl, Germany. The cover art was created by Björn Goosses of Killustrations.

"Carnivore", the new video from German thrash metal veterans DESTRUCTION, can be seen below. The clip was filmed in Poland, with Mania Studio at the helm.

"Carnivore" comes off DESTRUCTION's 30th-anniversary album "Spiritual Genocide", which will be released on November 23 via Nuclear Blast Records. Inakustik has set a December 3 release date for Michael Schenker's "Temple Of Rock: Live In Europe" that will be made available on CD, DVD, Blu-ray and as a limited deluxe edition containing all three formats. This essential live rock'n'roll release includes songs performed live in Tilburg, The Netherlands in May 2012, and at London's High Voltage festival in 2011.

Schenker sees his music as a building block in the construction of the Temple Of Rock. "The Temple is almost finished," explains Michael. "The foundation was laid in the '60s by LED ZEPPELIN, DEEP PURPLE and BLACK SABBATH. The walls were then built by UFO and others in the '70s. By the '80s, it was further reinforced by the likes of the SCORPIONS, and many more influential rock bands."

The new supergroup featuring drummer Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, AVENGED SEVENFOLD), bassist Billy Sheehan (STEVE VAI, DAVID LEE ROTH), guitarist Tony MacAlpine (neo classical-metal style, STEVE VAI) and keyboardist Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, PLANET X, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION) will have its November 14 concert at Zepp Tokyo in Tokyo, Japan professionally filmed and recorded for a live CD and DVD.

Portnoy, Sheehan, MacAlpine and Sherinian are playing an all-instrumental set consisting of material from each of their solo records and their previous collaborations as well as classic instrumental covers and extended solo spots.

Immediately following the European/Asian trek, the group will play a one-off U.S. show on November 18 at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York City

In a recent interview with Prog Sphere, Portnoy stated about the new band, "It's a blast. I love Derek; he's a fun guy. I still stand by the fact that I'm not sure if he was ever right for DREAM THEATER. But, that doesn't mean I don't love the guy as a player and person. I really do — I love being with him and I love playing with him and I'm glad to be able to work with him again. And, you know, it's a cool project because obviously it's very much… I think of everything I'm doing it's the most like DREAM THEATER or it's more even like LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT, probably. But you know, it's just me being able to play that kind of music with some amazing musicians. Not only Derek, but, obviously, Billy Sheehan's a dear friend and I've got two different things going with Billy at the moment, and I love working with him; he's one of my favorite bass players of all time. And Tony MacAlpine is an amazing guitar player, so I'm honored to be playing with him as well. It's a great, great lineup and we have a DVD that's gonna come out soon from when we played together back in January and then we have this run of shows coming up in the fall.

Asked if he is going to create some original music with that band, Portnoy replied, "There's no plans for it, but obviously, we are gonna spend months together playing every day, so I'm sure it will inevitably be discussed, and who knows?! I think it could be very, very cool. So, you know, we'll see. I'm sure we'll talk about it."

Portnoy formed the lineup to perfom at two drum events at the NAMM show last January (footage below). Due to overwhelming response, that band has decided to take their show on the road.

"I knew when assembling this lineup that it would be a magical musical experience that would be a blast for us as well as the fans! I can't wait to play again with these tremendous musicians and share the experience with you all at these special shows!" said Portnoy.

Sankey late last year recorded all the demo drum sessions for the new FEAR FACTORY album, "The Industrialist", and co-wrote and programmed all the drum parts, along with FF guitarist Dino Cazares, for the final CD. He was unable to join FEAR FACTORY as the band's new touring drummer due to visa restrictions.

Cazares previously stated about the new DEVOLVED material, "Systematic brutality at its best. Raising the bar once again with their intellectual song arrangements [and] insane drum patterns that would make any tech metal fan turn their heads. This band just keeps getting better and better. Welcome to the end of everything that you once knew and say hello to the future."

DEVOLVED's last album, "Oblivion", was released in May 2011 via Unique Leader Records.

NIGHTWISH's British fan club The-Islanders.co.uk conducted an interview with the band's new touring singer, Floor Jansen, prior to the group's November 6 headlining concert at O2 Academy in Birmingham, England. The nine-minute chat, which includes questions that were submitted by fans, can be seen below. A couple of excerpts follow.

On what it felt like travelling to the U.S. on such short notice to join NIGHTWISH in the middle of their North American tour after the band abruptly parted ways with previous singer, Anette Olzon:

Floor: "I don't think I could feel anything else [but] pure excitement. It went so fast that I had no time to really realize what I was doing. And I was so focused on learning the lyrics that all I did was learn [the words]. I was [mouthing] along [to the lyrics on the plane] silently, but still pronouncing the words, because sometimes, especially the 'Imaginaerum' [material], [the words are being spit out so] fast, you need to have a taste — taste it [to get a feel for how it should be sung]."

On how it feels to be singing for NIGHTWISH after having toured with the guys in the past with her previous band, AFTER FOREVER:

Floor: "Well, in a way, nothing is different, because we all are the same [people]. But you do get to know each other on a different level really fast. And especially because the situation was so extraordinary, you really are kind of dependent on each other, and that creates a bond immediately. And also because things worked out really nicely from minute one, that was really special. And I was afraid, maybe there [would be] a language barrier or something, but since the guys speak English well, and I do too — they're used to speaking English also among each other — it was just really good."

On whether she was surprised how quickly NIGHTWISH fans embraced her:

Floor: "Yeah, I was. I know a few years ago how a lot of people had a hard time seeing [original NIGHTWISH singer] Tarja [Turunen] leave and welcoming Anette. I think [Anette] really had to fight for her spot. And I think maybe now it's different that again a singer changed — that might make things easier. And maybe because I've been around also the metal scene for the last 13 years… I don't know. Fortunately, I had no time to think to actually think of what to expect from fans, because, like I said, everything went so fast, but I couldn't have dreamed of so many positive reactions — so many warm welcomes. Everybody was, like, 'Wow. OK. We like her. She sings the songs well. She fits the band.' I've had so many compliments that it's [been] really, really good."

Jansen made her live debut as the frontwoman of NIGHTWISH on October 1 at Showbox Sodo in Seattle, Washington.

Olzon joined NIGHTWISH in 2007 as the replacement for Turunen, after the latter was fired in 2005.

Jason Saulnier of the MusicLegends.ca web site recently conducted an interview with former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

MusicLegends.ca: On keeping your voice in tip top shape, what would be your secret?

Tarja: There are no secrets! I am training daily while being at home and while on tour, in every show day. It is vital for me to make progress as a lyrical singer since it also helps me to sing rock better. I still take singing lessons from my teacher from time to time and give lessons myself. I have to be cautious about how I dress, what I eat/drink and when I sleep so that my voice can shine as its best in each of my shows.

MusicLegends.ca: Any news on your next album?

Tarja: I am producing my next studio album already. We have recorded drums, guitars and bass for it already and at the moment we are finishing recording keyboards. The production will take until May next year, because I have several classical music tours in between that are breaking the process. If all goes fine, I hope that the album could be released in August/September next year. I have just recently found my style and sound, so I would like to establish it with the third studio album. The elements on the album will remain the same as in my previous albums, also the versatile style of songs. I like to keep the big dynamic changes between my songs, so that album songs feel radically different from each other. I am not stressed at all this time, even though I am producing the album on my own again. I have been lucky to gather around a group of musicians who are willing to work with me, so everything is going smoothly.

MusicLegends.ca: What do you think of the music industry today and where it is going?

Tarja: Until the governments don't have a clear law against piracy and the digital downloads are not working worldwide properly, the record industry will keep on suffering.

MusicLegends.ca: What's your vision of the Internet for musicians in the future?

Tarja: All the bands and artists have needed to find new ways to promote their products and Internet is a very important tool of information today, but still as big as it sounds, it is very limited. We are online, but not everybody is. When Internet becomes really massive, having everybody online and the laws are really clear, and then we can talk about music's future in Internet. I think we are still far away.

MusicLegends.ca: Could you describe what goes on in a day in your life as a musician on tour?

Tarja: I wake up usually quite late, just in time for the lunch, especially if I sleep badly during the night. I go out for jogging, if possible before soundcheck. After dinner, I start preparing my clothes, makeup and hair for the show. When I am ready with those things, I start with my breathing and vocalizing exercises to warm up my voice. Then it's show time! After the show, I usually meet my fans and that always takes some time before I can go to sleep again.

"Temper Temper", the new video from Welsh metallers BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, can be seen below. The track is the title cut of the band's fourth album, which will be released on February 11, 2013 in the U.K. via Sony Music. The song will be released on November 25 across all digital providers.

"Temper Temper" was once again produced by Don Gilmore (LINKIN PARK, GOOD CHARLOTTE), who worked on the group's last LP, 2010's "Fever", and was mixed by noted engineer Chris Lord-Alge (DEFTONES, NICKELBACK, AVENGED SEVENFOLD).

In a recent interview with South Africa's Voice Of Rock Radio, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE frontman Matt Tuck stated about the band's upcoming album, "For me, it's a huge compliment that [Gilmore] really didn't have much input [this time around], 'cause on the last record he did, and it kind of opened my eyes to write differently and to think about, not slowing things down, but kind of… there's no restraint on screaming and restraint on a million miles an hour. It's not necessary, really. We've kind of done that [already]. So on this record, [he kind of] sat back and let me do it without having much input, which to me, knowing Don, is a huge compliment, 'cause it means I've kind of done it right by my own. So, yeah, we've definitely fucking nailed it on this record. I know it's a long way before coming out and anyone's gonna hear anything, but I've lived with [it] and I know what it is, and trust me, it's good."

As previously reported, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE will embark on a U.K. tour in March. Support on all dates will come from HALESTORM.

GENERATION KILL, the band featuring EXODUS frontman Rob Dukes, has tapped Chris "Zeuss" Harris (SUICIDE SILENCE, ALL THAT REMAINS, SHADOWS FALL, SOULFLY) to produce the group's second album, tentatively due in 2013 via Season Of Mist. Zeuss "has a guiding hand in all the songs the band has written" for the upcoming CD so far, according to Dukes.

GENERATION KILL's debut album, "Red White And Blood", was released in September 2011. The CD was recorded at J. Rod Production Studios in New City, New York (where the vocal tracks for EXODUS' "Let There Be Blood" and OVERKILL's "Ironbound" were previously laid down).

Two and a half years after their debut album, Hollywood Rocks, Italian melodic metal act WHEELS OF FIRE return with their second record, Up For Anything, out November 30th via Avenue Of Allies.
Following the first release of the band, Wheels Of Fire have established themselves in the club circuit in North Italy as an entertaining live act with a stable lineup, that also recorded the songs for their sophomore release. Front man Davide “Dave Rox” Barbieri and guitar player Stefano Zeni were already the core of the recording lineup of Hollywood Rocks, since then the duo was joined by Marcello Suzzani on bass, Andrea Vergori on keyboards & piano and Fabrizio Uccellini on drums.

Dave and Stefano are also the song writers for all tracks of the album, on some songs Alessandro Del Vecchio (LIONVILLE, EDGE OF FOREVER, HARDLINE) and Pierpaolo “Zorro 11” Monti (SHINING LINE, CHARMING GRACE, Lionville) lend a helping hand in the writing process.

The compositions of Dave and Stefano impressively show the progression of the band into a contemporary rock act incorporating modern elements into their sound while staying true to their musical roots of the melodic rock sound of the 80s. Wheels Of Fire stand for instantly memorable vocal lines and choruses with carefully arranged harmonies, hook laden powerful guitar riffs and solos combined with well balanced keyboards and piano entries, big sounding drums and solid bass tracks.

Dave delivers a highly professional production job on Up For Anything and for the album mix and the mastering Roberto Priori (DANGER ZONE) was behind the studio desk.

On the list of international guests are James Christian (HOUSE OF LORDS) who performs a vocal duet with Dave on the midtempo rocker 'Don’t Walk Away' and is his wife ROBIN BECK, joining him on backing vocals.

And Swedish guitar player Rob Marcello (DANGER DANGER, MARCELLO-VESTRY) laid down the solo for 'No Mercy'. Contributions from local Italian musicians come from Michele Luppi (SECRET SPHERE, LOS ANGELES, ex-VISION DIVINE), Roberto Zari and Andrea “Mitzi” Dal Santo on backing vocals throughout the album and a full horn section on 'Yesterday’s Gone'.

Following the release of the album the band will hit the road again in 2013 to present their new songs.
