MEGADETH Mainman Is 'Open' To Idea Of Performing With LACUNA COIL Singer In Australia MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update:
"This is just a quick post to tell you that I am extremely excited about being able to come back to Australia. Anything and everything that we wanted or loved, we found in Australia. And we have so many friends down there that help us spreading the word for MEGADETH and for Gigantour. And as this sucka grows with the love and support of the Aussie Metal Corps. we don't see any turning back.
"There is always that possibility, when you are on a tour that you like the people of, that one or more of the bands will become friends and even possibly jam a song together.
"Of course everyone is speculating if Ms. Scabbia [LACUNA COIL frontwoman Cristina Scabbia] will be joining me for a song, and I am very open to the idea. We will keep you posted, and until then, stay metal!"

SVARTSOT - Danish Folkmetal DynamiteSVARTSOT is the next rising star in the Folk Metal heavens, as traditional Scandinavian sounds and instruments meet brutal, yet melodic Death Metal. Crushing mid-tempo tracks and catchy neck-breakers driven by heavy guitar riffs, deep vocals, and whipping drumming are refined with traditional sounding folk melodies. Powerfully produced by Jacob Hansen (TYR, Hatesphere), SVARTSOT's debut, Ravnenes Saga, delivers new hymns for Folk Metal's next generation.

Heiliges Herz - New Album SAMSAS TRAUMSAMSAS TRAUM are of the most legendary German bands when it comes to inscrutable sound and poetic arts- and now they are back with "Heiliges Herz". After a three years' break SAMSAS TRAUM hurl a new studio album into the vast masses of fans who are thirsting for material- and "Heiliges Herz" definitely takes no prisoners. This album is like a never ending fast track, a blind mania, a shot right trough which makes no compromises.
Alexander Kaschte who best represents heinous lunacy in the German-speaking realm has once again managed to lead his aficionados to a frightening place where misanthropy, isolation and mere destructiveness prevail. However, this time the effect is not evoked by orchestral and electric sounds. "Heiliges Herz" is metaphorically dressed in an impenetrable garment made from black metal.
The list of persons helping to create this extraordinary oeuvre is as impressive as the work itself:
SAMSAS TRAUM - hitherto been without a drummer- now has a world famous musician in the ranks: Ex-CRADLE OF FILTH-drummer and AT THE GATES founding member ADRIAN ERLANDSSON. The famous Gothenburg STUDIO FREDMAN is responsible for the mix and FREDERIK NORDSTRÖM, who has successfully produced DIMMU BORGIR, DARK TRANQUILLITY, IN FLAMES, ARCH ENEMY and OPETH helped to make the bombastic and towering sound of "Heiliges Herz". The mastering was done by PETER IN DE BETOU in Stockholm's mastering studio TAILORMAID (masterings for ENSLAVED, HYPOCRISY, KATATONIA, MARDUK, UNLEASHED and WATAIN) and guarantees that nothing is left to be desired on this album. It will surely enthuse their earliest followers but also those who have been put under the spell by the "a.Ura"-album.
Furthermore, "Heiliges Herz" leaves nothing to be desired concerning the design: the limited first edition of the album comes in a huge, special book format and a slipcase with silver foil embossing. The 44 booklet pages are bound in linen and made of a special paper with a lacquer print and contain lyrics, liner notes, many photos illustrations exclusively done for the album by the Lithuanian artist NATALIE SHAU. Last but not least there is a bonus CD which contains remixes by PAIN, WUMPSCUT, PAL, L'AME IMMORTELLE, IN STRICT CONFIDENCE and INGO RÖMLING and many hitherto unreleased songs and treasures from Alexander Kaschte's archives which make "Heiliges Herz" a Must Buy.
Attention: "Heiliges Herz" is released together with "Wenn Schwarzer Regen" - an independent and atmospheric acoustic studio album which resembles "Heiliges Herz" in design, length and format. See more info at www.trisol.de
ATTENTION: The album is published in two editions.
1. Standard CD Edition:
· Double CD in Jewel Case
· 28-pages booklet including cover punching
2. Limited CD Special Edition:
· Double-CD in book format (appr. 28 x 14 cm) in a precious slipcase, embossed and silver-foil blocked
· Hardcover-book bound in linen
· 44-pages extra-booklet, precious semi matte artprint on selected high-quality paper and special glassine paper with elaborate "Singer" thread stitching
· Including all lyrics and additional illustrations
· Strictly limited to 3,000 copies world-wide

PAIN OF SALVATION To Begin Mixing DVD In SeptemberVocalist Daniel Gildenlöw of Sweden's PAIN OF SALVATION has issued the following update:
"Yes, the rumors are correct. We filmed one of the shows on our latest tour and we plan to release a DVD from that show. I have been on paternity leave for a few months now, an experience I encourage every dad to try, but come September we are starting to work on bonus material, mixing etc. No release date has been set yet, as we are also in the middle of replacing band members and working on new material, but now you at least you can start waiting for real."
In other news, PAIN OF SALVATION has posted the following message on its web site regarding the band's current drummer situation:
"Hundreds of applications from all around the world came in, and after a difficult screening process, focusing mainly on the Swedish applications, a handful of drummers made it to auditions. These auditions have now been held, and all of those drummers proved to be very skillful. The process will now continue to the next level, so there is no point in applying for the part anymore. We want to thank you all for offering your services. News will be posted."

FALL OF THE LEAFE Calls It QuitsFinnish progressive/avantgarde metallists FALL OF THE LEAFE have officially split up. The group's singer Tuomas Tuominen has issued the following statement on the matter:
"It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that after our last remaining shows in September, FALL OF THE LEAFE is no more.
"The reasons that led to this this decision are many and the biggest one I cannot put my finger on. I think we were lead and ultimately forced into this decision by each other, by the same very different tastes and likings that made our music so special, by our private lives and perhaps finally by our own faults as people.
"For me, it has been a ten year experience and adventure with my friends and all of you who have shared FALL OF THE LEAFE with us. For that I thank you all. Thank you Jussi, Kaj, Matias, Petri, Miska — it's been a blast."
FALL OF THE LEAFE's sixth album, "Aerolithe", has just been released via Firebox Records. The album was mastered by Svante Forsback at Chartmakers studio in Helsinki, Finland.

New Single The Plague by DIARY OF DREAMSThree years after the last Diary of Dreams album, MenschFeind, september 21 sees the release of the new EP titled ''The Plague'' by this German cult band: a teaser for the upcoming 9th album, scheduled for release at the end of October.
The title track comes along in two very different versions. Other tracks are a first taste of the extremes we might expect from the album: a sensitive and touching ballad as counterpiece of a brutal and dominating track. The final song is a “memorial version” of DoD’s classic hit “Traumtänzer”.
Tracks:
1. the Plague (Vers.N41)
2. the Plague (Vers.N4-4)
3 .Allocution
4. Traumtänzer (memorial version 07)
Since the band is busy in the studio right now, there won’t be any more concerts until the album is released – apart from the already announced shows. But don’t worry – Diary Of Dreams won’t be absent from the stage for long. After the new record will hit the shops, they’ll be back on tour and you’ll have ample opportunity to experience new live impressions by the DoD guys.

NEVERMORE Frontman's Solo Album To Feature SOILWORK DrummerNEVERMORE frontman Warrel Dane is currently recording his debut solo album, which is tentatively due in early 2008. Dane has written about eight tracks with former SOILWORK guitarist-turned-producer Peter Wichers and has also collaborated with ex-HIMSA guitarist Matt Wicklund on a few songs.
Wichers has issued the following update on the project: "I just came back from Baltimore (Wrightway studios) after recording drums together with Dirk Verbeuren [SOILWORK, SCARVE] for Warrel's solo record.
"Now, this record will be friggin' sweet, and I just started laying down some guitars for it a couple of says ago.
"The record will be tracked here in Nashville [where Wichers currently resides after relocating from Los Angeles]."
Dane previously stated about his solo CD: "The recording will start pretty soon, but since I have NEVERMORE shows coming up in August Pete [Peter Wichers] can get this thing going and I'll end up doing vocals on my off time from NEVERMORE shows. Matt's songs are killer as well...I just have to take a step back sometimes and say to myself, 'Fuck, I'm lucky to get to jam with these killer songwriters."
In a September 2006 interview with Metal-Rules.com, Dane had the following to say about the musicail direction of his solo material: "I've been working on it for like the last year off and on, just writing songs with Peter Wichers, and at some point we'll finish them then go in the studio . . . It doesn't sound like NEVERMORE, and I think, you know, if it did, there wouldn't be much point in doing a side project. If it sounded like NEVERMORE I think it would be a little redundant . . . Of course it's metal! Kind of like metal-infused hard rock, I think. It's different and it's a chance for me to explore myself — explore myself in other ways! [laughs] Well, for me, and for Peter from SOILWORK as well, it was kind of a chance for us both to 'step outside the box,' because people expect a certain thing from both those bands and with this we don't have to fulfill any expectations. We can do whatever we want."

NEGATIVE: Concert DVD, Singles Collection On The WayFinnish hard/glam rock band NEGATIVE has set "In the Eye of the Hurricane" as the title of its new DVD, tentatively due this fall. The disc will include a full NEGATIVE concert recorded at Pakkahuone in Tampere, Finland on December 8, 2006. The band is also planning to issue a collection of its singles, entitled "Fan Box". Exact release dates will be announced soon.
NEGATIVE's third album, "Anorectic", entered the Finnish chart at position No. 1.
In other news, NEGATIVE frontman Jonne Aaron is expanding his role in the music business by producing the new record of his brother Ville's band FLINCH.
"Jonne will produce FLINCH's new album. He's been supporting Ville with all the stuff he went through last year so the choice was kind of obvious", says the band's manager Tommi Liimatainen.
Ville's band has been through a lot of changes lately; Ville has had problems with alcohol and he's had to find a totally new lineup for the band.
"Now it seems everything's cool and there's no alarming alcohol epidemic in the Tampere rock scene anymore", chuckles Liimatainen.
Tommi goes on to hint about a possible duet between Jonne and Ville. "Everything's possible with those guys working together. And it would be a nice surprise if that kind of thing happened, don't you think?"
FLINCH's new album is scheduled for release in the fall. The band's debut album, "Kuvastin", has sold over 5,000 copies to date.

AXL ROSE Comments On SEBASTIAN BACH CollaborationAs exclusively reported by BLABBERMOUTH.NET earlier today, GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose will appear on the new solo album from former SKID ROW frontman Sebastian Bach.
"Angel Down", Bach's first solo disc in eight years, will be released November 20 through Merovingian Music, Ltd. and Bach's company Get Off My Bach Productions.
Rose will appear on three tracks, the lead single "(Love Is) A Bitchslap", a cover of AEROSMITH's "Back in the Saddle" and the track "Stuck Inside".
Axl has issued the following statement regarding his involvement with the project:
"Bas asked me to sing on his new record, 'Angel Down', and I agreed and came down to his studio where he played me the tracks. I really liked the title/opening track, 'Angel Down', but I didn't feel that it would be right to be on that one, although, of course, it would've been cool because it's a great rip-your-head-off track!!
"Since this session was rather a more fun atmosphere, the tracks I sang on kind of showed themselves and were also done out of curiosity on the part of Bas, myself, and his producer, Roy Z, just to see if my involvement brought something that worked for the tracks.
"Bas really wanted me on 'Bitchslap, and I got to try my own ideas on it. We're not saying much about the second track, as it may be taken a bit further, and when Bas played the third track, 'Stuck Inside', he suggested a kind of call-and-answer part. They allowed me the freedom to write my own words and melodies, and although it's only a couple of lines, it really felt great. The song has such a mean riff, and Bas' guys were so supportive in so many ways on tour and fun to hang with, that it was great to be a part of something of theirs and I think it really came out strong.
"For me, the three songs together are a good package. They are all different, with different approaches and styles from each other and from material I have on the upcoming GUNS N' ROSES record. For me, the timing couldn't be better and I'm quite surprised to be on one song, let alone three!!!
"Bas really knew where he saw my involvement on his album and had different options in mind. He knew what seemed obvious, what would be fun, what would work for his album and what he felt I would like. I really liked the energy of the tracks and since I'm rarely asked to do anything I'd actually enjoy or be glad to be a part of, I'm more than grateful for the opportunity and hope the fans get a kick out of it as well."

USURPER: 'Threshold Of The USURPER' To Be ReissuedChicago's USURPER will re-release its 1997 CD, "Threshold of the Usurper" (originally issued through Necropolis Records) re later this year as a 10th anniversary package featuring new artwork by Juha Vuorma (of "Skeletal Season" artwork fame) with additional bonus tracks and a DVD.
USURPER will head out to Europe this fall for a two-week headlining tour. The trek, which will also include NOCTURNAL BREED (Norway), THE STONE (Serbia) and DECAYED (Portugal), will kick off October 25 in Hamburg, Germany and will run through November 10 in Berlin. Exact cities and dates will be announced soon.
USURPER is currently busy rehearsing material for its sixth full-length album, which the band plans to record later in the year. New songtitles include "Talons of Steel", "Rebel Wolf", "Planet of the Humans", "Zombie Revolution" and "Replicants of the Apocalypse".
USURPER last year parted ways with vocalist Dan Tyrantor due to "ongoing circumstances and issues" in his personal life. The remaining four members have announced plans to continue as a four-piece, with guitarist Rick Scythe and bassist Jon Necromancer taking over the vocal duties.
USURPER's fifth full-length album, "Cryptobeast", was released in 2005 via Earache Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Twilight Dominion" was recorded at Chicago's Rax Trax Studios with producer Neil Kernon (JUDAS PRIEST, DEICIDE, CANNIBAL CORPSE).
