Anders previously stated about his upcoming album: "This is NOT a 'metal' project. Those of you who are familiar with my soundtrack/movie stuff for THE HAUNTED and AT THE GATES documentaries will know somewhat to expect. It's inspired by Italian film music from the '60 and '70s, post rock, ambient, progressive, jazz, and Swedish folk music."

Björler announced his departure from THE HAUNTED in October. He explained in a statement, "I feel that I have come to the end of the line regarding THE HAUNTED. This is not a sudden or hasty decision. I have been contemplating it for the last couple of years. Peter's [Dolving, vocals] departure [in early 2012] made me more certain than ever that I had reached my personal goal with THE HAUNTED, and that the time was right to call it quits. I have enjoyed every bit of the ride. It's been an overwhelming journey."

HATESPHERE will support HYPOCRISY on the second leg of the "End Of Disclosure Tour 2013" this fall.

HATESPHERE's most recent album, "The Great Bludgeoning", entered the official chart in Denmark at position No. 40. The group's 2009 effort, "To The Nines", landed at No. 36 while 2007's "Serpent Smiles and Killer Eyes" debuted at No. 26.

Vocalist Esben "Esse" Hansen joined HATESPHERE as the band's new singer in June 2010.

Speaking to the "Shockwaves"/"HardRadio" podcast earlier in the year, Mustaine stated about the "Super Collider" title track and cover artwork: "I love the concept, I love the artwork that we have for this record — it's the Hadron Collider, and that is a remarkable machine. And if you look at the Super Collider, the thing itself — whether it does a damn bit of good or not, nobody really knows; I don't know how it's gonna correlate to lowering gas prices or anything like that, or getting people to stop trying to run everybody's lives right now and the dumbing down of America… But it's really cool if you look at how big it is. A lot of pictures on the 'Net will show this enormous machinery and guys the size of ants next to it. And the one picture that we used for our cover was, like I said, the Hadron Collider and it's just beautiful stuff, man."

He added: "Science is really interesting. I mean, I don't believe in evolution, I believe in creation, so science only goes so far with me, but I really dig looking at that whole way that's set up with the tubing and the piping and the reactors and all the stuff that goes along with it. You have to see it for yourself."

"It's so funny because it's almost the hardest thing when you're trying to please all the fans is trying to do something that everyone wants," he said. "Of course we're going to do all the hits, but then I get e-mails going, 'How come you didn't do this?' and, 'How come you didn't do that?' Everybody has their own favorite songs for their deeper cuts. So we're going to do 28 songs. That's one of the hardest parts of doing a show: What songs are we gonna put in? Once you get them in there, the easy part for me is staging it."

He continued: "This show that you're going to see this time is totally different from the show that you saw last time. That's kind of the fun part for me, putting the new show together, and let's see what we're going to do this time to surprise the audience.

"I think one of the most important parts of this show is that the band is so good. The band is the best band I've ever had. The reviews every time are 'this band is unbelievable.' Orianthi on guitar, Ryan Roxie on guitar, Tommy Henriksen on guitar, Glen Sobel on drums, Chuck Garric on bass and me. And then, of course, extras. But this band gets great reviews every single night. It's easy for me when I get a band that just takes my songs and really rips 'em."

Asked what he wants people to say when they walk out of the venue, Alice said: "I think they come in with the pre-thinking of, 'Well, this a legendary, mythical character,' and 'He must be 65, so this must be Alice walking through this and kinda doing his hits and talking to us.' They get just the opposite. We do all the hits, but it's the highest-energy show they're gonna see all year. And Alice is more of a villain now than he's ever been. He's more pronounced than he's ever been. Then they're wondering, 'How did I get confetti in my hair? Why do I have stage blood on me? Look, I caught a necklace, I caught a cane, I caught a riding crop.' Everyone goes home with souvenirs that get thrown from the stage to the audience. So it's a huge party. When they walk away, they go, 'That was the most fun show I've seen all year.'"

KILL DEVIL HILL's self-titled debut album was released last year via Steamhammer/SPV. The CD landed at position No. 9 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Kill Devil Hill" was produced by Warren Riker, who is best known for his work with DOWN, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, SUBLIME and CATHEDRAL. The effort was made available in a standard CD edition, as an iTunes digital download, and double gatefold LP.

According to drummer Vinny Appice, KILL DEVIL HILL's sound is "like a cross between BLACK SABBATH, ALICE IN CHAINS and a little bit of LED ZEPPELIN thrown in. It's heavy, but with a lot of cool hooks and melodic overtones, too."

Commenting on BLACK SABBATH's decision to record and tour without original drummer Bill Ward, Portnoy said: "Here's my issue with it. I have no issue if Bill Ward is not fit to play in SABBATH, as they're saying. Or I have no issue with it if they're having money litigations and problems and they couldn't agree on something that was fair. My issue is that they're calling it a BLACK SABBATH reunion. It's not a BLACK SABBATH reunion without the four of them. It is now just the latest BLACK SABBATH lineup."

He continued: "Why is this BLACK SABBATH, but HEAVEN & HELL wasn't BLACK SABBATH? I mean, we all know the real reason for it. But it's not a true BLACK SABBATH reunion without Bill Ward. And if they need to do it without Bill, then they do it without Bill. But don't call it a reunion. It's just BLACK SABBATH 2013."

Portnoy, who co-founded DREAM THEATER more than 27 years ago, abruptly quit the band in September 2010 while on tour with AVENGED SEVENFOLD. He has since been replaced by Mike Mangini (ANNIHILATOR, EXTREME, JAMES LABRIE, STEVE VAI).

Portnoy played on AVENGED SEVENFOLD's 2010 album, "Nightmare", following the death of that band's drummer, Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, and toured with them for the entire second half of that year.

Portnoy announced his departure from ADRENALINE MOB in June due to "scheduling conflicts." A replacement drummer has not yet been announced.

RED FANG have always been masters of the hard rock hook and with "Whales And Leeches", they deliver 11 killer, instantly classic anthems.

"Whales And Leeches" was produced by Chris Funk (DECEMBERISTS) and mixed by Vance Powell (THE WHITE STRIPES, RACONTEURS, KINGS OF LEON). This same team worked on RED FANG's last album, "Murder The Mountains", which Alternative Press magazine hailed as "a near-masterpiece of tangled tar pit riffs and whisky-and-bong-hit vocals" (April 2011).

Released on July 23, "Jazz-iz Christ" is Serj's brainchild, but truly is a collaborative effort between many musicians that Tankian curated to be part of the group and self-titled album. Among others, there are considerable contributions from renowned pianist Tigran Hamasyan, flautist Valeri Tolstov, and trumpet player Tom Duprey. Additional performances from Stewart Copeland and actor/musician Davis Alpay and Vincent Pedulla make for a very unique collaboration. The 15 tracks that comprise "Jazz-iz Christ", a mostly instrumental effort except for four songs, are an amalgam of progressive jazz, electronic, ethnic and even rock elements, displaying a unique presentation of the genre itself.

"Jazz-iz Christ" was released through Serj's own Serjical Strike Records. Also available is "Orca", Tankian's first true symphony.

Recorded in Linz, Austria in October of 2012, "Orca" was composed and demoed in Tankian's home studio and fully realized after a successful Kickstarter campaign that helped fund a recording and debut performance at the regal Brucknerhaus with the Das Karussell Ensemble. With conductor Werner Steinmetz at the helm, the four acts of "Orca" mix influences from early 20th-century composers with modern film compositional dynamics showing influences ranging from Ennio Morricone to Philip Glass. Listeners are met with a mingling of sounds and intertwining pieces that are both serene and bombastic at the same time, offering a fresh interpretation to the classical art.

According to Tankian, "Orca is known as the killer whale, but is really a dark dolphin, a symbolism for human dichotomy."

Upon completion of SYSTEM OF A DOWN's summer touring in August, Tankian will hang back in Europe until the commencement of his own solo orchestral tour dates that begin on September 19 in Kiev, Ukraine. The concert program will include all four acts of "Orca", but will also incorporate performances of many songs from "Elect The Dead Symphony", which achieved critical and commercial success upon its initial release and tour in 2010.

"Peace" will be released on September 3 (one day earlier internationally) via Napalm Records. The cover artwork for the CD was created by the renowned California art collective The Date Farmers.

VISTA CHINO tapped Mike Dean (CORROSION OF CONFORMITY) to play bass on the band's European tour.

Dean handled bass duties for VISTA CHINO at their first North American performance, which took place at this year's Orion Music + More festival — curated by METALLICA — in Detroit, Michigan. The final live appearances of KYUSS LIVES! — featuring the same lineup as VISTA CHINO — took place in early 2013 as part of Australia's Soundwave Festival.

KYUSS LIVES! decided to change its name after a lawsuit launched by former KYUSS members Josh Homme and Scott Reeder prevented KYUSS LIVES! from recording and releasing any new material. Commented Garcia: "KYUSS LIVES! is now VISTA CHINO!...it feels great just to write that....and to say it out loud, feels even better. Now that our relationship with Napalm Records is official; it's time to forget about the past year, move forward, and execute our original plan, which was to make kick-ass music and tour the world!" Speaking to Music Feeds, Brant was asked whether there was a slight sense of relief that the legal dispute over the KYUSS name is over. "Absolutely," he replied. "There's always relief when conflict is resolved and people can just let go and move forward. That's where we're at and we feel great. It's always unfortunate to experience differences with specific people, but we feel great as a band. We're really, really excited to move forward into the future and focus on what it is that we do, which is play music."

Regarding whether the change of band's name to VISTA CHINO would have happened had it not been for the lawsuit, Brant said: "That's a good question. The answer to that question is: I don't know. Possibly. We didn't really think about it. We were really just looking at what was in front of us and making our decisions based on what our present situation was. But now we just came to a point where we felt that changing the name was appropriate and was the fastest way for us to get back to playing music."

DEVICE recently filmed a video for the song "You Think You Know". Directing the clip once again was P.R. Brown, who helmed DEVICE's first video, for the song "Vilify". Brown has previously collaborated with such artists as MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, John Mayer, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, Prince, AUDIOSLAVE, MÖTLEY CRÜE and SIXX: A.M.

DEVICE released its self-titled debut album on April 9. It debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard album chart, selling 35,000 copies in its first week of release. The CD features guest appearances from AVENGED SEVENFOLD singer M. Shadows, SYSTEM OF A DOWN vocalist Serj Tankian, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello, HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale, BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler and ex-DEEP PURPLE bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes.

David launched DEVICE last year with ex-FILTER guitarist Geno Lenardo, after DISTURBED went on hiatus in late 2011.

Lenardo is not touring with DEVICE due to previous commitments. The live band, which made its debut on April 10 in Mobile, Alabama, includes DOPE guitarist Virus and EVANESCENCE drummer Will Hunt.

DEVICE is currently on the road as part of Gigantour 2013, along with MEGADETH, HELLYEAH, NEWSTED and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. The trek kicked off on July 3 in Gilford, New Hampshire and will wrap on August 11 in Toronto, Canada.

Comments the band: "This album is by far the angriest yet most diverse one we have done yet. It's the next level for MAN MUST DIE. We couldn't be happier with how it's turned out. It's brutal beyond the word and yet more melodic and memorable than ever.

Once dubbed "the loudest band in Toronto," CONEY HATCH is back with its first record of new material in over two decades. "Four" is chock-full of the unique brand of melodic riff-rock that first brought the band to the attention of critics and rock fans all over the world.

Formed back in the early '80s in Toronto Canada, original members Andy Curran, Carl Dixon, Dave Ketchum and Steve Shelski released three records on Anthem Records in Canada and Polygram for the rest of the world. The band toured relentlessly and played support slots on tour with the likes of JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN, ACCEPT, TED NUGENT and CHEAP TRICK, to name a few. After three releases and many miles of success and rocky road under their belts, the four band members went their separate ways in 1986.

The story of this reunion is an amazing journey that only fate could be responsible for. Late one night, on his way home from a recording session in Australia, a weary Carl Dixon had a near fatal head-on car collision that left him clinging to life. While Carl was still in an induced coma, his wife reached out to the other members of CONEY HATCH and asked them to offer words of encouragement over to the phone to Carl. She held the phone to his ear as he lay unconscious in his bed. "I told him to get better quick," says bassist/vocalist Andy Curran. "I said we had a lot more rockin' to do with CONEY HATCH. I really didn't think we'd play together again but it just came out of my mouth… and Carl remembered it!"

After many operations, Band-Aids, stitches, titanium rods, doctors, nurses, medicine and sheer gut-determination Carl Dixon returned to the stage with his three original bandmates in August of 2010 in Hamilton Ontario in front of 7,500 hungry HATCH fans. News of that show travelled fast and the original CONEY HATCH was soon invited to play Firefest 2011 for their first time ever in the U.K.! The rave reviews flooded in after that sweaty night in Nottingham and the band returned to their homeland to find a record deal offer waiting for an all new CONEY HATCH record.

After much discussion and soul-searching, the band decided to grab the opportunity from Frontiers to work together again. They enlisted the help of long time friend and Juno Award-winning engineer Vic Florencia (Danko Jones, Nelly Furtado, Hillary Duff, Marc Jordan, Olivia Newton-John etc) to capture the new recordings.

"All of us are thrilled to have recorded a fourth CONEY HATCH record," says Curran. "We never thought it would happen but the stars aligned and hell froze over! The new material feels like it could have been the record after 'Outa Hand' before 'Friction'... Its raw and not too overproduced, but still has that vintage HATCH sound. Sonically, we did a '2013 L.A. botox face lift' job and it sounds pretty fresh. The recording process was extremely challenging as the four of us all live separate lives in four different towns...it was honestly like herding cats, but eventually we got them all in the same bag! We're very happy with the final outcome."

IRON MAIDEN last month landed at position No. 1 on Billboard.com's "Hot Tours" list of top-grossing tours with $19 million in ticket sales from 14 performances in 13 cities on their summer tour of Europe. The shows were attended by a total of 259,298 fans, including a sellout crowd of 55,531 at a football stadium, Friends Arena, in the Stockholm suburb of Solna, Sweden. Also included was a sold-out concert on May 29 at Lisbon, Portugal's Pavilhão Atlântico.

IRON MAIDEN's August 3 show at London, England's O2 Arena (with a capacity of up to 20,000, depending on the event) sold out in just 12 minutes, so a second show was added on Sunday, August 4. This was definitely the band's last U.K. show this year as soon after they head off for a few selected USA shows before a massive trip around Latin America, including headlining Rock In Rio and national stadiums in Mexico, Chile and Argentina.

MAIDEN's 15th studio CD, 2010's "The Final Frontier", featured 10 tracks that had an average running time of seven minutes and 40 seconds, with the shortest song, "The Alchemist", clocking in at four minutes and 29 seconds, and the longest, "When The Wild Wind Blows", lasting ten minutes and 59 seconds.

"The Final Frontier" sold 63,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to enter The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 4.

IRON MAIDEN's previous album, 2006's "A Matter Of Life And Death", opened with 56,000 units to land at No. 9. This was a notable increase from the 40,000 first-week tally registered by its predecessor, 2003's "Dance of Death" (which debuted at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart), and that of "Brave New World", which moved 38,000 copies in June 2000 to land at No. 39 on The Billboard 200 chart.

In the time leading up to pre-production and the recording of "Masks", EYES SET TO KILL decided instead of pandering or worrying about expectations, they would hunker down and demo two of their strongest new songs, the irresistibly "True Colors" and "Nothing Left To Say". Both merged anthemic scope and jarring metallic elegance, making for some of the group's catchiest fare and as a result, they joined forces with Century Media Records for their fifth studio album. "Those two songs served as a blueprint for the entire record," explains singer, songwriter, guitarist Alexia Rodriguez. "When we were writing, I didn't try to do what everybody else does. We didn't need to throw a ton of riffs into one song or get overly technical. I wanted to make music that was catchy." With that mindset, the group retreated to a Southern California studio with Evetts. In the process, Alexia evolved immensely as the band's songwriter, and the band's patented sound expanded.
