NEWSTED: Pro-Shot Footage Of HELLFEST Performance
 Professionally filmed video footage of NEWSTED — the new band featuring former METALLICA, VOIVOD and FLOTSAM AND JETSAM bassist Jason Newsted and STAIND guitarist Mike Mushok — performing on June 23 at Hellfest in Clisson, France can be seen below.
NEWSTED's debut album, "Heavy Metal Music", will be released on August 6 in North America via Chophouse Records/Collective Sounds and August 5 in Europe through Spinefarm Records. Jason told Billboard.com the 11-song album will be very similar to the band's debut EP, "Metal", which sold around 6,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 62 on The Billboard 200 chart. "The EP was always intended to be the primer, a sampler of what was to come on the LP," he said. "It's all metal all the time. It's not all fast, but it is all heavy."
Regarding how the material for NEWSTED's debut album came together, Jason told Loudwire: "It started out as my seeds for the first eleven songs that I made on my GarageBand thing. I wrote all the tracks — guitars, bass, drums, everything and gave them to Jessie [Farnsworth, guitar] and Jesus [Mendez Jr., drums] and had them go learn it, put their artistry on it and so it was collaborative in that way for the first batch. Like the four songs on the EP came from that initial eleven, so that's how those songs went. Each day as we get deeper into the songs, the collaboration gets deeper as well. I have come a long way from my tunnel vision of 'Only my ideas are good enough' bullshit, and I'm a lot more open to everyone's ideas and the artistry of each person to make it what it is. And three heads is better than one and that kind of thing. So it has become more collaborative as we go. I've written ten more since that time in October last year and a few of them have made their way onto this LP now. Once again, they were all my seeds, but now that we have Mike Mushok in the band and I give the music to all three of those guys, now I have three great artists bringing back their responses and their counterpoint playing to my ideas, so it's becoming more and more collaborative every day and on this LP there will be shared writing credits on at least half of the songs with the writing credits now."

As previously reported, three songs from NEWSTED — "Long Time Dead", "King Of The Underdogs" and "Heroic Dose" — are featured in the newest episode of Break Media's hit web series "Man At Arms".
NEWSTED's heavy metal pairs as background for the gritty series, which follows famous Hollywood blacksmith Tony Swatton as he builds real-life versions of iconic pop-culture ("Pirates Of The Caribbean", "The Matrix", "Spider-Man", etc.) weapons by hand.
NEWSTED is taking part in this year's edition of Gigantour, the critically acclaimed package festival founded in 2005 by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine. Also appearing on the bill are headliners MEGADETH, along with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, DEVICE, HELLYEAH and DEATH DIVISION.
NEWSTED is being forced to miss this week's Gigantour dates in Canada after Jason was diagnosed with "walking pneumonia."
NEWSTED kicked off its first-ever U.S. tour on April 19 at Red House in Walnut Creek, California. The 14-date trek concluded on May 23 in Asbury Park, New Jersey and led into a number of European festival appearances for the band.

ABORYM Announces New Touring Lineup
 Italian hard-industrial-electro extreme metallers ABORYM have revealed their touring lineup for their upcoming festival appearances. Joining frontman Fabban and guitarist Paolo Pieri (HOUR OF PENANCE) will be HOUR OF PENANCE guitarist Giulio Moschini and STAMINA/ex-FROM DEPTHS bassist Lorenzo Zarone. ABORYM's Norwegian drummer Bård G. "Faust" Eithun (BLOOD TSUNAMI, MONGO NINJA, ex-EMPEROR) will not take part in the upcoming concerts, which will see the band playing along to a digital drum machine.
ABORYM is deep in the rehearsal process and will kick off the festival season in August.
ABORYM's "Dirty" video can be seen below. Directed by Alberto Falcone, the clip features all three band members as well as actors, and, according to frontman and founder Fabban, the title of the track pretty much sums up the subject matter of the video.
ABORYM's sixth full-length album, "Dirty", was released on May 28 in Europe and June 11 in North America via Agonia Records. The 10-track double album (cover below) was made available in digipak, jewel case and gatefold double LP formats.
"Dirty" was recorded at the Fear No One Studios in Italy with Emiliano Natali, reprising his sound engineer role from the band's "Psychogrotesque" album, and was helmed by Marc Urselli of New York's Eastside Sound Studio, who previously worked with the likes of Mike Patton and Lou Reed. The electronic part of the album was engineered by D. Loop (KEBABTRAUME, LIMBO). R.G. Narchost (STORMCROW, DEMON'S SHADE, DROWNING ASHES) created "The Spiral Shaped Chamber" custom sounds library for the band. Artwork for the album is by ABORYM's Fabban.
The first CD of the album features new material, while the second CD features two tracks from previous albums, which have been completely re-arranged and re-recorded, covers of tracks by IRON MAIDEN, PINK FLOYD and NINE INCH NAILS, and a previously unreleased track performed by both musicians such as Agonia BV, Tamara Picardo, Samuel Heru Ra Ha MK, Hostis, Ulven, Mike Bizzini, David Cholasta, Tobias Dünnebacke, Jonathan Butcher, Jessy Lavallee, Thomas Hochstetler, Mary J. Rooks, Amanda Neilson and Mark Llewellyn, as well as several fans. The song was written by Alberto Penzin (CO2, ex-SCHIZO) and was spliced together from all the different sources.

ANGRA To Be Joined By TARJA TURUNEN, RUSSELL ALLEN, ULI JON ROTH At Sao Paulo Concert
 Brazilian melodic metallers ANGRA will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of their 1993 debut album, "Angels Cry", with a special concert on August 25 at HSBC Brasil in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The show, which will be recorded for a DVD, will feature guest appearances by Tarja Turunen (NIGHTWISH), Russell Allen (SYMPHONY X, ADRENALINE MOB) and Uli Jon Roth (SCORPIONS).
Former ANGRA singer André Matos celebrated the 20th anniversary of the release of "Angels Cry" by performing the LP in its entirety on his recent solo tour, which kicked off in March. The show consisted of two parts, with the first part focusing on the material André wrote and recorded with SHAMAN and VIPER, as well as during his solo career.
ANGRA tapped acclaimed Italian vocalist Fabio Lione (VISION DIVINE, RHAPSODY OF FIRE, KAMELOT) to front the band for its most recent live performance, including an appearance aboard 70000 Tons Of Metal, the world's biggest heavy metal cruise, which sailed on January 28 from Miami, Florida and returned to the real world on February 1.
Singer Eduardo "Edu" Falaschi quit ANGRA in May 2012. He explained in a statement, "There comes a moment in a man's life when it is necessary to make a radical decision in order to move forward with dignity and renewed energy."
Falaschi joined ANGRA in 2000 and appeared on the band's last four studio albums — 2001's "Rebirth", 2004's "Temple Of Shadows", 2006's "Aurora Consurgens" and 2010's "Aqua".
ANGRA has yet to announce a permanent replacement for Falaschi, who is focusing on ALMAH and other projects.

RECKLESS LOVE: 'Spirit' Track Listing Revealed
 RECKLESS LOVE, the flamboyant Finnish rockers who burst spectacularly onto the UK scene in 2010, will release their third album, "Spirit", on September 2 via Spinefarm Records (August 30 in Finland through Universal Music). Produced by Ilkka Wirtanen, and with mixing duties divided between Ilkka Wirtanen, Juha Heininen and Petri Majuri, the follow-up to 2011's "Animal Attraction" represents a bold step forward for RECKLESS LOVE, with the commercial aspects of the music pushed to new and heady heights, plus the heavier side showing some serious bite, with the wonderfully titled "Metal Ass" hugging the fast lane from first note to last.

MASTERS OF METAL: 'MK Ultra' Lyric Video Released
 The official lyric video for the song "MK Ultra" from MASTERS OF METAL, the new band formed by current members of AGENT STEEL: Juan Garcia (guitars), Bernie Versailles (guitars and lead vocals), Robert Cardenas (bass and backing vocals), Rigo Amezcua (drums), can be seen below. The track comes off MASTERS OF METAL's debut EP, which was released in North America in May via iTunes. Physical copies can be obtained through The Omega Order online store. Recorded by Bill Metoyer (FATES WARNING, TROUBLE, GWAR) and mixed by Versailles, the EP contains four blistering songs with everything that you can expect from the members of AGENT STEEL: top-notch overtones, timeless songwriting, and lots of scorching guitars, bottom end, and precision drumming. LORD VOLTURE Begins Recording New Album
 Dutch heavy metallers LORD VOLTURE have entered the studio to record their third full-length album for a release in 2014. A short video from the studio can be viewed below:
Drummer Frank Wintermans set-up his kit at Split Second Sound studio in Amsterdam and laying down the first tracks for the new album. Next week the recording sessions continue at Final Focus Studio in Tilburg with bass, guitars and vocals.
All recordings are being engineered by Yuma van Eekelen (EXIVIOUS, ex-PESTILENCE) and Bart Hennephof (TEXTURES) who also produced Lord Volture's preceding albums Beast Of Thunder (2010) and Never Cry Wolf (2011). The whole album should recorded by the end of August and then the tracks will be transferred to Swamp Studio in Raamsdonk where Stephen van Haestregt (ex WITHIN TEMPTATION, MY FAVORITE SCAR) will do the mix and mastering.
After the recordings Lord Volture kick-off with the Korgon Over Europe tour in September passing through the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Northern Ireland and more countries to be announced.

ONWARD - First Two Releases To Be Issued On Vinyl
 Pure Steel Records has licensed the first two ONWARD releases, Evermoving and Reawaken. Both titles - with the late Michael Grant (ex-NEW EDEN, CRESCENT SHIELD, CYPHER SEER) on vocals - will be remastered and re-released on vinyl in summer / early fall.
Says the label: "Together with mastermind Toby Knapp and the other remaining band members we want to set a small monument to Michael. R.I.P, we’ll never forget you."
Toby Knapp states: "Over a year ago I approached Pure Steel Records about releasing Onward's demo, The Neverending Sun, on vinyl. Eagle Rock To Release Classic SCORPIONS, ROLLING STONES, PINK FLOYD Titles On Blu-Ray
 This summer, Eagle Rock Entertainment will release three programs as Standard Definition Blu-rays: SCORPIONS' Moment Of Glory, ROLLING STONES' Stones in Exile and PINK FLOYD's Classic Albums – The Making Of Dark Side Of The Moon. Originally released on standard definition DVDs, these films are upscaled versions of the original material, with uncompressed stereo and DTS-HD Master Audio surround sound.
The Scorpions' Moment Of Glory, will be released July 30. Originally released in 2001, captures the Scorpions backed by the world famous Berliner Philharmoniker Orchestra. The Blu-ray includes not only this 2000 concert, which was part of Berlin’s millennium celebrations, but bonus band interviews and director’s cuts of 'Hurricane 2000', 'Moment Of Glory' and 'Here In My Heart'.
The second two releases, from the Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd, will be released August 27. Stones In Exile, originally released in 2010, chronicles the incredible story behind the Stones’ monumental Exile On Main Street album. Recounted in the band’s own words, this film explores the spring of 1971, when the Stones fled the UK as tax exiles, settled into Keith Richards’ French villa Nellcôte in Villefranche-sur-Mer, and proceeded to create this double-album masterpiece. The Blu-ray includes extensive bonus footage, interviews with all band members (as well as some well-known Exile fans) and a featurette of Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts visiting Olympic Studio and Jagger’s Stargroves country house, where most of the early work on the album was done.
Classic Albums – The Making Of Dark Side Of The Moon was originally released in 2003, and traces the creation of Pink Floyd’s iconic 1973 album. Interviews with band members (Roger Waters, Richard Wright, David Gilmour, and Nick Mason), engineer Alan Parsons, the late designer Storm Thorgerson, and others involved unveil the creative process behind this magnum opus which, 40 years after its release, is still one of the best selling albums in history. SOUNDGARDEN To Take Break From Touring
 Reunited grunge legends SOUNDGARDEN are planning to take a break from performing after their upcoming European tour, which kicks off on September 4 in Helsinki, Finland and conclude on Sept. 19 in London, England. Guitarist Kim Thayil tells Seattle's KIRO Radio: "I think [after the European tour] that will be it for awhile. I know that Matt's [Cameron, drums] going to be some touring with PEARL JAM and I think Chris [Cornell, vocals] is going to be working on a solo acoustic record and he might be playing some shows during that. And I will be working on compiling the SOUNDGARDEN B-sides box, which we have a lot of songs that were released on European and Australian releases, movie soundtracks, various things like that that have yet to be compiled and put into album form."
SOUNDGARDEN bassist Ben Shepherd will release his debut solo album as HBS, "In Deep Owl", on August 27. The collection of songs was recorded in the industrial neighborhoods of Georgetown and Interbay in Seattle, Washington and was produced by Dave French, Ben Shepherd, Chad MacMurray and Nathan Yaccino. It features guest appearances by SOUNDGARDEN drummer Matt Cameron and former PEARL JAM drummer Matt Chamberlain.
SOUNDGARDEN released the music video on January 29 for "By Crooked Steps", the second single from the quartet's new album, "King Animal".
The "By Crooked Steps" clip was directed by FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl, who submitted a treatment for the video on his own initiative after hearing the song.
"King Animal" came out last November and was SOUNDGARDEN's first set of all-new material in 16 years.

DISKORD Debut To Be Reissued With Bonus Material
 Norwegian progressive death metal trio DISKORD will release a double-CD reissue of the debut full-length Doomscapes on July 30th via Poland's Hellthrasher Productions. The album was originally released in 2007 by currently non-existing Edgerunner Records and can best be described as a fusion of old-school death metal in the vein of AUTOPSY with a twisted songwriting approach reminiscent of VOIVOD and ATHEIST. The re-release will be limited to 1000 two-CD sets including a bonus disc with the previously self-released Aural Abjection EP.

ANION To Release New Album In September
 ANION's new full length LP, entitled Without Solace, is scheduled for release on September 17th. This album, recorded with legendary producer Matt Bayles (BOTCH, MASTODON, ISIS) at Red Room studios in Seattle, WA.
Without Solace will be released on gatefold vinyl and digitally via Winnipeg's No List Records. The new material sees Anion further elevating their song writing, focusing on the shape, sound and flow of the songs themselves while delving further into their pit of loathing and ugliness, centering on unsettling and angular riffs with a layer of abrasive noise rock heaviness underneath.

GWAR: New Album Details Revealed
 Antarctic rock gods GWAR are set to return to the realms of man and reclaim their vice-like grip on the throat of hard-rock humanity after spending the last year-and-a-half working on their follow-up to 2011's critically acclaimed "Bloody Pit Of Horror". The new recording, "Battle Maximus", is GWAR's first full-length studio effort since the loss of their longtime guitar player Flattus Maximus, and is set to hit the streets on September 17 on Metal Blade Records.
"This album is both a tribute to Flattus and a telling of the next chapter in the story of GWAR," said warty front-thing Oderus Urungus. "The combo of the brand new album and show should satisfy even the most hardcore Flattus devotee with the fact that GWAR's slay-skills are as supreme as ever, and the band stands poised to embark on our most earth-shattering world tour yet. We have mourned, we have honored, and now it's time to fucking DEVASTATE in the name of Flattus and the supreme entity that is GWAR."
Oderus continued: "This is our first record in our brand-new Slave Pit Studios, which Flattus had a lead role in designing, but without him we had no one left to twiddle the buttons, much less play the blazing metal leads and provide the musical direction that rescued GWAR from the depths of clown-band obscurity. The Horn of Hate is an ancient Slave Pit contraption that summons all the Scumdogs in the Universe in the unlikely event that one of them is killed in battle, disintegrated, or becomes a Mormon. As the cosmic tones echoed throughout the universe (which unfortunately sounds like a giant duck-fart), the Maximus tribe answered the call by traveling to Earth to wage the mighty "Battle Maximus", a musical trial-by-combat for the right to follow in the footsteps of Flattus. When the dust had settled, but one Scumdog remained standing...the zit-encrusted and undeniably shred-tastic Pustulus Maximus.

PROTECTOR To Release 'Reanimated Homunculus' In September
 Cult thrash band PROTECTOR will release its new album, "Reanimated Homunculus", on September 13 via High Roller Records.
Says the label: "PROTECTOR are one of those bands that never really got the attention they deserved. With a sound uncompromising and aggressive like burning sulphur, they should have been ranked among the bigger names in German thrash. Sure, any thrasher worth his salt heard about 'Protector Of Death', 'Misanthropy', 'Golem' and 'Urm The Mad', but still, PROTECTOR never really grew beyond their underground status before they disbanded in 2003.
"Now they are back, with original singer Martin Missy doing the vocal duties again. Apart from Martin, the new PROTECTOR consist of Mathias Johansson (bass; SUICIDAL WINDS), Carl-Gustav Karlsson (drums; GRIEF OF EMERALD, MASTEMA) and Michael Carlsson (guitar; MASTEMA). These Swedish chaps know exactly what they are doing, having played together as MARTIN MISSY AND THE PROTECTORS since 2006.
"The resurrection of PROTECTOR began in 2011 with a demo and a split single, and now the time has come for a new full-length album. On 'Reanimated Homunculus', the band returns to its roots in the early Eighties, turning away from the deathier path they used to walk in the Nineties."
Missy says: "It will be a mix of brand new songs, including the first two songs I have ever written for PROTECTOR, and some songs that have already been released on the demo and the split between 2011 and 2012, and an old PROTECTOR song from 2000 that we have made our own version of. We've tried to keep it old school, to keep the raw feeling of the songs. We wanted an '80s thrash metal sound, and I hope we have succeeded with that."

BLAZE BAYLEY To Release 'Soundtracks Of My Life' Compilation With Two New Songs
 British heavy metal singer Blaze Bayley (IRON MAIDEN, WOLFSBANE) will release a career-spanning double disc collection, "Soundtracks Of My Life", on October 31.
Says Blaze: "This double-disc set contains 30 recordings that have been very important to me in my life and 30-year career. Some of the songs included have not been widely available before. I have also had time to write two new songs with Rick Plester (former BLACK SYMPHONY guitarist). The set will come with a 28-page booklet and slipcase. Artwork is by Andreas Sandberg, who also did the artwork for 'King Of Metal'. The release date is October 31st, but pre-orders are available on August 4th."

Metal Mind Productions recently released the two-CD version of Blaze Bayley's "Alive In Poland" (previously available only as part of the limited-edition "Alive In Poland" DVD) in Europe and North America.
"Alive In Poland" was recorded in Poland in April 2007 during the 21st edition of Metalmania festival in Katowice, Poland. It features a fantastic, over-one-and-a-half-hour show during which Blaze presented the best tracks from his discography, as well as select tracks from IRON MAIDEN ("Man On The Edge", "Futureal").
Bayley's latest studio album, "The King Of Metal", was released in March 2012. The CD was recorded at Fear Studio in Ravenna, Italy.
The 49-year-old Bayley, who was born in Birmingham, was the original frontman in WOLFSBANE, but left in 1994 to replace Bruce Dickinson as the lead singer of IRON MAIDEN.

MONSTER MAGNET To Release 'Last Patrol' In October
 MONSTER MAGNET will release its new album, "Last Patrol", in North America on October 15 via Napalm Records. The CD was produced by Dave Wyndorf and Phil Caivano, while "Evil" Joe Barresi (TOOL, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, BAD RELIGION) mixed the album, with additional production duties handled by Matt Hyde. The artwork was created by Johun Sumrow with consultation coming from Chris Ryall and designs by Ryan Clark for Invisible Creatures Inc. The album will be available as a limited edition CD, standard CD, 2LP and digital format.
In support of "Last Patrol", MONSTER MAGNET will embark on a full-blown North American tour. Although the band has toured Europe relentlessly over the past decade, this is MONSTER MAGNET's first full North American tour in over 10 years. Support will come from Prosthetic artist ZODIAC. The tour is scheduled to kick off November 14 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and will run through December 14 in New York City.
Frontman and MONSTER MAGNET mastermind Dave Wyndorf checked in with his thoughts about "Last Patrol": "'Last Patrol' is a return to our roots in terms of vibe and recording style. It's full-on psychedelic space-rock with a '60s garage feel, recorded almost exclusively with vintage guitars, amps and effects in our hometown of Red Bank, New Jersey. The songs are a kind of space-noir, tales of cosmic revenge, peaking libidos, alienation and epic strangeness. It's a weird trip through the back alleys of a dark, retro-future, which not by coincidence very much resembles my own life. [laughs] The lyrics aren't fantasy really, rather a recounting of my musings on, observations of and general emotional reaction to my life and environment during a 1 week writing period in February of 2013. But I tend to use the vernacular and imagery of science fiction and surrealism to express myself and that's where these lyrics get trippy. There's also our cover version of DONOVAN's 'Three Kingfishers', which I thought fit the mood of the album."
He continued: "'Last Patrol' was produced by Phil Caivano and myself with an effort to bring a homegrown feel to the whole affair. We had been doing smaller projects out of Phil's Studio 13 recording space and I really felt comfortable there so it was the natural choice on where to record the next full-scale MONSTER MAGNET album. Phil and I grew up together and have a shared love of some very particular vintage music and styles. And everybody in the band played their asses off on this one."

NEWSTED: 'Above All' Lyric Video Released
The official lyric video for the song "Above All" from NEWSTED — the new band featuring former METALLICA, VOIVOD and FLOTSAM AND JETSAM bassist Jason Newsted and STAIND guitarist Mike Mushok — can be seen below. The track comes off NEWSTED's debut album, "Heavy Metal Music", which will be released on August 6 in North America via Chophouse Records/Collective Sounds and August 5 in Europe through Spinefarm Records. Jason told Billboard.com the 11-song album will be very similar to the band's debut EP, "Metal", which sold around 6,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 62 on The Billboard 200 chart. "The EP was always intended to be the primer, a sampler of what was to come on the LP," he said. "It's all metal all the time. It's not all fast, but it is all heavy."
Regarding how the material for NEWSTED's debut album came together, Jason told Loudwire: "It started out as my seeds for the first eleven songs that I made on my GarageBand thing. I wrote all the tracks — guitars, bass, drums, everything and gave them to Jessie [Farnsworth, guitar] and Jesus [Mendez Jr., drums] and had them go learn it, put their artistry on it and so it was collaborative in that way for the first batch. Like the four songs on the EP came from that initial eleven, so that's how those songs went. Each day as we get deeper into the songs, the collaboration gets deeper as well. I have come a long way from my tunnel vision of 'Only my ideas are good enough' bullshit, and I'm a lot more open to everyone's ideas and the artistry of each person to make it what it is. And three heads is better than one and that kind of thing. So it has become more collaborative as we go. I've written ten more since that time in October last year and a few of them have made their way onto this LP now. Once again, they were all my seeds, but now that we have Mike Mushok in the band and I give the music to all three of those guys, now I have three great artists bringing back their responses and their counterpoint playing to my ideas, so it's becoming more and more collaborative every day and on this LP there will be shared writing credits on at least half of the songs with the writing credits now."

NEWSTED's heavy metal pairs as background for the gritty series, which follows famous Hollywood blacksmith Tony Swatton as he builds real-life versions of iconic pop-culture ("Pirates Of The Caribbean", "The Matrix", "Spider-Man", etc.) weapons by hand.
NEWSTED is taking part in this year's edition of Gigantour, the critically acclaimed package festival founded in 2005 by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine. Also appearing on the bill are headliners MEGADETH, along with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, DEVICE, HELLYEAH and DEATH DIVISION.
NEWSTED is being forced to miss this week's Gigantour dates in Canada after Jason was diagnosed with "walking pneumonia."
NEWSTED kicked off its first-ever U.S. tour on April 19 at Red House in Walnut Creek, California. The 14-date trek concluded on May 23 in Asbury Park, New Jersey and led into a number of European festival appearances for the band.

TRIVIUM: Audio Snippet Of New Song Available For Streaming
 A teaser for a new song from Florida metallers TRIVIUM can be unlocked by accessing the Trivium.fm web site via your mobile phone.
To hear the song snippet, follow these instructions: "Grab headphones and plug them into your phone. Go to Trivium.fm on both your phone and laptop. The laptop will give you a code to type into your phone. Once that's done, it will say sending transmission on your phone and you'll hear a weird alien voice on your phone. On your computer, it will show what it's saying. After it says 'Vengeance Falls', you'll hear a short clip of the song. After the clip, they'll show controls on your phone to see the album cover on your computer."
In other news, TRIVIUM will hit the road in North America this fall with DEVILDRIVER, AFTER THE BURIAL and SYLOSIS.
TRIVIUM's new CD, which is now officially titled "Vengeance Falls", was produced by DISTURBED and DEVICE frontman David Draiman and is due this fall via Roadrunner Records.
In a recent new interview with RoadrunnerRecords.com, TRIVIUM bassist Paolo Gregoletto stated about Draiman's approach to producing: "He was there for everything. Where we recorded was this sort of loft above his house [in Austin, Texas], and that's where we did a lot of the recording, a lot of the pre-production. We got an electronic drum set and we all just kind of sat around in a circle and we played the stuff, we listened back to demos that we did, we recorded a couple of things, just rough demos so we had the parts recorded and could remember them and reference them later. But he was really hands-on with everything. It was definitely very meticulous, very well organized how he went through attacking every part of a song, whether it was the drums or the guitar parts, bass parts, and finally the vocals, making sure it all fit together really well. I mean, the lyrics and the vocals, that was the biggest thing we had never really had before, was working in pre-production with finished vocal ideas, and I think the thing David really brought to the album was being so well organized and having real clear goals of how we were going to achieve everything along the way. In my opinion, that's definitely the sign of a great producer, because there are so many things to what a producer does, but in my opinion, being organized and having a real clear-cut plan for how we're going to achieve all the ideas we've been talking about is super-important for a producer."
Paolo also spoke about TRIVIUM's songwriting process for the new CD and how it differed from the band's previous experiences in the studio.
"Definitely in the past, we kind of approached it like...we definitely had some records that were a bit of a 180 from the previous one, but now we've really learned what works within our band and it's really about improving those things, bettering them each time we go into it," he said. "I think once you find what your identity is, you just want to keep improving and building upon that, and adding new elements in but also retaining what makes your band unique among the thousands and thousands of bands that are out there. So I think with this record, it wasn't a total clean slate, it was really just tightening everything up and bringing everything that makes us TRIVIUM together even more and writing the best material and having an album that, start to finish, never really lets up. It never has any filler or dead spots, and I think David really being a fan of TRIVIUM, and really seeing our growth as a band along the way, helped out, because it wasn't like he was coming in and not really knowing what our band was about. He really understood what we've built as a band over the last seven, eight years, and how important it is to really respect all of that and to keep that stuff that's made us TRIVIUM, and just better it — bigger melodies, bigger hooks, bigger riffs, everything. Sonically, he wanted us to make a thicker-sounding album, and he definitely really pushed [mixer] Colin [Richardson] and [engineer] Carl [Bown] to make this our biggest-sounding record. And I think they did an amazing job, to be honest. We've worked with Colin for so many records now, and he's totally outdone himself."
TRIVIUM filmed a video for an as-yet-undiclosed song off "Vengeance Falls" this past weekend at Studio One in Orlando. GREAT WHITE, JACK RUSSELL Reach Agreement Over Use Of Band Name
 GREAT WHITE and co-founding member/original lead singer Jack Russell have announced that they have entered into an agreement settling their pending litigation over the GREAT WHITE name.
In March, 2012, Russell sued his former bandmates Mark Kendall, Michael Lardie and Audie Desbrow over their continuing use of GREAT WHITE after Russell had taken a leave of absence from the band for medical reasons. The band countersued, and the parties have been involved in contentious litigation for the last year. After three days of closed-door mediation before U.S. Magistrate Judge Carla Woehrle, the parties reached a comprehensive agreement. While many of the terms of the agreement will remain confidential, it can be revealed that, going forward, the current GREAT WHITE band will continue to use the name GREAT WHITE and Russell will perform under the name JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE.
In his original lawsuit, Russell claimed that his formed bandmates kicked him out of GREAT WHITE and stole the group's name while he was recovering from surgery to repair a perforated bowel.
Kendall, Desbrow and Lardie filed a 30-page counterclaim in April 2012 in a federal court in Los Angeles accusing their former frontman of, among other things, "miss[ing] 80 performances in 18 months" before leaving the band; "irreparably damag[ing]" their "market reputation" by putting on performances that "are not up to the standard of GREAT WHITE; and misleading the public by stating that the musicians in Jack's new band "were once full members of GREAT WHITE." They also accused Russell's new bandmates of "profit[ing] from their wrongful affiliation with the GREAT WHITE brand."
Asked if he could ever envision himself reconciling with his former GREAT WHITE bandmates, Jack told "Rockin Metal Revival" back in January: "No way! Absolutely not. Not over my dead body. Too many things have been said, and too many lies, and just too much hurt, man. I've had the knife stuck in way too deep. I can forgive them, but I can't forget. It's like we were brothers, man, and we were there through thick and thin, and when it came down to it, no, we weren't. It was all a big façade for the public. It's sad; it really is. It was a just a really lousy finale for a once-great rock band."
