ASKING ALEXANDRIA: 'The Death Of Me' Video Released
"The Death Of Me", the new video from the British metalcore act ASKING ALEXANDRIA, can be seen below. The clip, which was directed by Frankie Nasso and written and produced by Ash Avildsen and Frankie Nasso, features everything from half naked women in vending machines, a stellar performance from the band and a child version of singer Danny Worsnop discovering his destiny.
"The Death Of Me" comes off ASKING ALEXANDRIA's third album, "From Death To Destiny", which will be released on August 6 via Sumerian Records. The CD was recorded with renowned producer Joey Sturgis (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, EMMURE).
Most of the new CD was tracked at Sturgis' studio in Indiana, while the vocals and strings and choir parts were laid down at NRG Recording Studios in North Hollywood, California.
"It's taken long enough!" ASKING ALEXANDRIA guitarist Ben Bruce told Metal Hammer magazine. "It wasn't because we were being lazy, but because we wanted it to be perfect. 'From Death To Destiny' is our third album and we wanted to make sure we'd bring out the best possible record we could."
He continued: "This is our biggest sounding record and alongside the classic ASKING ALEXANDRIA stuff — the breakdown sections, heavy sections, fast sections — we've thrown a lot of new influences in there. It's a very diverse album and I think people who pigeonholed us are going to realize they were wrong when they hear it."
ASKING ALEXANDRIA is:
Danny Worsnop - Vocals
Ben Bruce - Guitar
Cameron Liddell - Guitar
Sam Bettley - Bass
James Cassells - Drums

Video: PANTERA, GUNS N' ROSES, Ex-WHITESNAKE Members Play KISS Covers
A.L.I.V.E.!, the new band put together strictly out of a passion for '70s-era KISS was formed by good timing and happenstance! Rex Brown (bass; PANTERA, KILL DEVIL HILL), Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (guitar; GUNS N' ROSES), Brian Thomas Tichy (drums; WHITESNAKE, QUEENSRŸCHE, OZZY OSBOURNE, S.U.N.) and Mark Zavon (guitar; KILL DEVIL HILL), made a surprise appearance last night (Monday, July 22) at Lucy's 51 in Toluca Lake, California. Check out video footage of their performance below (courtesy of Heavy Metal Hill).
The members of A.L.I.V.E.! all ended up working together on rock journalist Mitch Lafon's KISS 40th-anniversary tribute album for cancer care: "A World With Heroes". This serendipitous occurrence came to be when Rex and Tichy laid down bass and drums on Bumblefoot's version of "Detroit Rock City" in which not only does Thal play all guitars, he sings all vocals. Tichy also tracked drums, backgrounds, rhythm and leads (along with Zavon) to Rex and Zavon's version of "Larger Than Life". Rex makes his debut lead vocal on this track.
When the e-mails started circling, it became apparent that they all shared the same love for KISS in the '70s. At the same time, they all were all somewhat shocked by how much Thal sounded like Paul Stanley and Rex like Gene Simmons on their tracks. Therein lay the set up leading to the formation of A.L.I.V.E.!
Says Brown: "We each got asked to play on this tribute album to benefit cancer research. Obviously, it was for a great cause and we wanted to be a part of it, but I think it also came from a place of real passion too. Each of us were hugely influenced by KISS early in our lives, so the chance to play on those tracks was a real honor. After we'd heard what we'd recorded, we thought it would be a lot of fun to do it live. As it turned out, Mark and I had just finished recording the upcoming KILL DEVIL HILL album, and had a small window of time this summer before we head out on the road again. The timing perfectly coincided with breaks in Ron and Brian's schedules as well, so we decided to put this thing together!"
A.L.I.V.E.! is a as much of of a "thank you" to KISS as it is a tribute. Brown, Thal, Tichy and Zavon won't be in costume and greasepaint, making this even more of a true tribute to the music that changed them when they first heard it.
Rex continues: "I remember I was in seventh grade and this chick had a copy of 'Alive!' I swiped it and it changed the future of rock and roll as I know it!! They were like 'gods' to this scrawny kid from Texas learning to play guitar!! They are one of the reasons I jam to this day!! I got to open up for them numerous times in stadiums and it's the attitude and the songs, not the schtick, that I go back to every time!!"
Tichy adds: "I thought KISS 'Alive!' was the loudest record ever when I first heard it! KISS was the first band I got into. Peter Criss was my first drum idol and he is where I started as a drummer! When the idea of all of us going for this together was brought up, we all reacted with unbridled excitement to how much fun and how powerful this could be! I can't wait to play with these badass musicians I am proud to call friends!"
When asked about KISS' influence on him, Thal said: "Hearing the KISS 'Alive!' album at the age of 5 is what made me want to play guitar and join a band. I'm looking forward to playing the songs that launched my life!"
Zavon said: "When I was 14 I borrowed 'Destroyer' from the public library and have never been the same since."
A.L.I.V.E.! will perform material off KISS' hugely influential "Alive!" and "Alive II" records as well as some of their personal favorites.
Rex Brown is celebrating his birthday on July 27 and the band have decided that would be a perfect time to launch A.L.I.V.E!

ALICE IN CHAINS: Fan-Filmed Footage Of Montreal Concert
Fan-filmed video footage of ALICE IN CHAINS' July 15 concert at the Metropolis in Montreal, Quebec, Canada can be seen below.
ALICE IN CHAINS' fifth studio album, "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here", sold 62,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart. The disc follows up 2009's "Black Gives Way To Blue", which was the group's first all-new collection of material in 14 years. That CD opened with 126,000 units back in October 2009 to debut at No. 5.
ALICE IN CHAINS was last in the Top Two with its self-titled 1995 set, which debuted at No. 1 on that year's November 25 chart, according to Billboard.com. It would be their final studio release with singer Layne Staley, who died in 2002.
"The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" is ALICE IN CHAINS' second album with William DuVall on vocals.
DuVall began touring with the group in 2006, four years after the death of Layne Staley from a drug overdose.
ALICE IN CHAINS began working on the new disc in 2011, but the sessions for the album were delayed when guitarist Jerry Cantrell had to undergo shoulder surgery.
"The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" features the singles "Stone" and the chart-topping "Hollow".
ALICE IN CHAINS will co-headline the fourth annual Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival with JANE'S ADDICTION, kicking off on August 9 in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

CARCASS To Release 'Captive Bolt Pistol' Single
Reactivated British extreme metal pioneers CARCASS will release a new single, "Captive Bolt Pistol", on August 9. The track comes off the band's comeback album, "Surgical Steel", which will be made available on September 16 in the U.K., September 13 in the rest of Europe and September 17 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records. The effort was produced by Colin Richardson (FEAR FACTORY, MACHINE HEAD, NAPALM DEATH, SLIPKNOT, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE) and mixed by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ACCEPT, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY).
Joining guitarist Bill Steer and bassist/vocalist Jeff Walker in CARCASS' current incarnation are new drummer Dan Wilding (ABORTED, TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED) and guitarist Ben Ash (PIG IRON, DESOLATION, LIQUEFIED SKELETON).
CARCASS' first studio LP since 1996's "Swansong" will feature guest vocals from original sticksman Ken Owen.
In a recent interview with Chile's Radio Futuro, Walker stated about the new CARCASS CD: "We think we've made a good album, so it's gonna be very interesting when people get to hear the record. We can't wait to see what people think."
He continued: "It sounds like CARCASS. Even the drumming sounds like CARCASS. Everything about it… I think it's gonna shock people, how good it is. I think it's got all the elements that people like, yet it still sounds fresh. So that's all I can say, really, 'cause we don't really sound like any other band, and the fact that after 17 years, we wrote music and it still sounds like CARCASS, I think it's good."
In a separate interview with Terrorizer magazine, Steer spoke about how the decision to record a new CARCASS studio album came about.
"I found myself playing riffs that sounded like CARCASS," he said. "This was after the band had finished the whole reunion cycle of shows and festivals. So, officially, I would have been playing with other bands and stuff, but for some reason whenever I picked up a guitar at home I was coming up with riffs that sounded like CARCASS. I got on the phone to Jeff and said, 'We could have a crack at writing a couple of tunes and seeing if they're strong enough and take it from there.' We also agreed if it didn't sound like carcass or have that kind of vibe to it, we would just drop it. So that was the thing, we got together and started working on some stuff and just immediately got the excitement back very quickly."
He added: "It definitely sounds like CARCASS. I think we just generally by accident captured the flavor of past music that we have done and you can't help but push it forward. We have really been creative and when you are looking at things like guitar harmonies, it's way more adventurous on this record. It's not just parallel harmony like we did in the past, things branch off in different directions.
"A lot of what is happening now is based on rhythms rather than actual riffs. We were discussing this a lot during record sessions about how the riff is almost dying or dead already. People spend a lot of time chugging on the bottom string [but] that's a rhythm, it's not a riff. We can't write a song, never mind an album, without it being chock-full of riffs."
Stated Walker: "I'd like to feel like we are giving CARCASS fans what they want again. I'm a realist and I think Bill has realized and Dan know what people like about CARCASS. We're definitely delivering."
Regarding the sound of the forthcoming CARCASS album, Walker previously stated: "We've taken stylistic cues from all the albums because it's in our blood, but it's no rehash or mess of ideas. I think it sounds almost like the missing link between the third and forth albums but with some groove in there. I've jokingly christened some parts 'trad blast' and some 'death sleaze'… don't think for a minute this is just some nostalgic throwback album — we're setting up another 17 years of ideas for other bands to copy and clean up on. [laughs]"
Walker on the "Surgical Steel" cover artwork: "We went back to working with Ian Tilton, who is an iconic English photographer famous for working with THE STONE ROSES," stated CARCASS bassist/vocalist Jeff Walker. "He actually did the front cover for [1991's] 'Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious' as well. We've deliberately tried to evoke the feeling of that album and [1993's] 'Heartwork'."

LITA FORD: Live Album Title, Release Date Announced
'80s hard rock queen Lita Ford has set "The Bitch Is Back... Live" as the title of her new live album, due on October 28 via SPV/Steamhammer.
As previously reported, Ford has recruited Bobby Rock (VINNIE VINCENT INVASION, NELSON) to sit behind the kit for her shows in Australia, Europe and the U.S., as well as the recent Monsters Of Rock cruise in the Bahamas.
Ford's touring drummer for much of 2012 was Scot Coogan, who has previously played with BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION, ACE FREHLEY and LYNCH MOB.
Lita's current touring lineup:
* Lita Ford - Guitar, Vocals
* Mitch Perry (MSG, ASIA, EDGAR WINTER) - Guitar
* Bobby Rock (VINNIE VINCENT INVASION, NELSON) - Drums
* Marty O'Brien (WE ARE THE FALLEN, TOMMY LEE, STATIC-X, DISTURBED) – Bass
Lita last year filmed a video for the song "Mother" in Joshua Tree, California. Directing the clip was Ford's former THE RUNAWAYS bandmate Victory Tischler-Blue, whose film "Edgeplay" was based on her tenure in the 1970s all-girl teenage rock act.
"Mother" is dedicated to Lita's estranged sons, Rocco and James (father is former NITRO singer Jim Gillette).
Ford's latest album, "Living Like A Runaway", was released on June 19, 2012 in North America. The effort was made available in four configurations: a double LP, limited-edition CD, standard CD and digital download. The artwork for the album was created by famed rock photographer Mark Weiss.

Comments the band: "We're extremely proud of the final result. We feel we took the best decision using Javi from Moontower Studios for the mixing 'cause he knew what we wanted in every moment; his experience was essential. But the work made by Dan Swanö at Unisound Studios on the mastering which in fact wasn't a typical mastering, but kind of a second mix, was what definitely gave this new album an incredibly heavy, thick and organic sound. We never sounds so fucking crushing!! This is easily the best AVULSED album, not only production-wise, but also the own songs and the great cover artwork, of course!!".
The band is preparing very special packs both on CD and 12-inch LP (gatefold) formats contaning lots of stuff like exclusive shirt, signed photocard, patch, sticker, badge, guitar pick, exclusive card, poster, etc... limited to 100 units that will be available for preorder in early August exclusively through the Xtreem Music online shop.
AVULSED parted ways with drummer Ricardo "Riky" Mena in March 2012 "due to differences on how to deal with different internal issues within the band."

VENOMIN JAMES Announces New Vocalist, Single Release
Cleveland, Ohio doom rockers VENOMIN JAMES have announced the addition of vocalist Mike Martini (UNIFIED CULTURE, STATE OF CONVICTION, THE ALTER BOYS, MUDFOOT, SPELLCHUCKER) to the group's ranks. A new single, "Sailor's Grave", was released on July 23 via Auburn Records and is available through iTunes, Amazon and other major digital distributors.
"'Sailor's Grave' marks the beginning of the second phase of VENOMIN JAMES," says guitarist and founding member Joe Fortunato. "This is the first time Eric's [Matthews] drumming has appeared on one of our recordings, and our first collaboration with new vocalist Mike Martini. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised by the direction we're going."
He continues: "This time around, we're going to be releasing a few singles instead of waiting to make an album — especially since we're amped for our fans to check out the new songs. There's no shortage of crushing riffs being thrown around at rehearsals these days, so expect more tunes very, very soon."
VENOMIN JAMES parted ways with singer Jim Meador last December, citing a change in vocal direction and Meador's availability as the reasons. In a statement issued at the time, Fortunato said: "We felt like a new direction was needed. There is no ill will towards Jim, he's a natural talent and a genuinely good guy. It's not an easy thing to make this big of a change after six years, but we feel like this is the right thing for VENOMIN JAMES at this point in time. This decision wasn't taken lightly."
Meador plans to continue making music, and will be seeking or forming a new project in the near future.
VENOMIN JAMES, founded in 2006, is a doom metal band, known for heavy riffs and intricate musical arrangements in the vein of BLACK SABBATH and "desert rock" bands like KYUSS and UNIDA. They have released two full length albums, "Crowe Valley Blues" and "Left Hand Man", and are currently signed to Auburn Records. The band's third album, "Unholy Mountain", which was completed last fall, will be released later this year with Meador's last vocal contributions, marking the end of his tenure in the band. It will also include the final recordings of drummer Jared Koston, who passed away from cancer in 2010.
VENOMIN JAMES is:
Joe Fortunato - Guitar
Tomasz Scull - Guitar
Erin Corcoran - Bass
Eric Matthews - Drums
Mike Martini - Vocals | 0 | |

The disc is expected to include footage of the band's November 16, 2012 headlining concert at Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden, along with other video material.

'The Pulse of Bliss'

'Lost Among Liars'
Check out a lyric video for 'The Tower' below:
Artwork for “The Tower” was designed by renowned artist Costin Chioreanu, who had this to say: “Working on the cover of the new Vulture Industries was more than an interesting experience. The stars aligned and suddenly I discovered the opportunity to create the kind of imagery I had been dreaming about for years. “The Tower” is a very complex, smart and sadly true story to which I could relate, so this great project ended up with more illustrations than originally intended. The theme was so complex and so well put into words and music that I simply could not resist it. Yes, there is a huge influence coming from the German expressionism, but expanded through my own ways of visual expression and improved with some elements specific to the visual and philosophical analysis of society. There is surrealism, expressionism, contemporary imagery, and even some ancient graphic visual inputs. All in all, “The Tower” is an extremely well done observation of the reality that surrounds us as well as being a beautiful piece of art and I am extremely happy that I had the honor to illustrate it".
Vulture Industries are due to hit the road in September for a series of European dates guesting with LEPROUS on the first leg of the latter's European Coal Tour. Starting in Vulture Industries' home country of Norway on the September 13th, the tour routing is as follows:

26 - Kwadrat - Kracow, Poland

28 - Beta - Copenhagen, Denmark
Vulture Industries are also scheduled to perform three dates this year with the TURNING GOLEM project. Part concert rooted in the heavier segment of experimental/progressive metal and part theatre performance, Turning Golem is about the relative subject of “truth”. Turning Golem will be performed at the following:
August
17 - Dark Bombastic Evening - Alba Iulia, Romania
October
25 - Garage - Bergen, Norway
26 - Phantoms Of Pilsen - Pilsen, Czech Republic

"No More Hell To Pay" will include STRYPER's cover version of "Jesus Is Just Alright", a gospel song written by Arthur Reid Reynolds. STRYPER guitarist/vocalist Michael Sweet said, "It rivals our cover of EARTH, WIND & FIRE's 'Shining Star' — riffs!"
"Jesus Is Just Alright" was first recorded by Reynolds' own group, THE ART REYNOLDS SINGERS, on their 1966 album, "Tellin' It Like It Is". It was later covered by THE BYRDS and THE DOOBIE BROTHERS.
"No More Hell To Pay" track listing:
01. Revelation
02. No More Hell To Pay
03. Saved By Love
04. Jesus Is Just Alright
05. The One
06. Legacy
07. Marching Into Battle
08. Te Amo
09. Sticks & Stones
10. Water Into Wine
11. Sympathy
12. Renewed
STRYPER played a brand new song, "Marching Into Battle", during their July 14 concert at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, New York. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below.
STRYPER will film two new videos and an EPK (Electronic Press Kit) in August in support of "No More Hell To Pay". The band's last three videos were shot and released in 1990 and 1991 when the band was promoting its "Against The Law" LP.
Regarding the musical direction of STRYPER's new material, Michael Sweet told Screamer Magazine: "The song 'God', which is on 'The Covering'; if you took that song along with 'Bleeding From Inside Out' and 'Blackened' [from 'Second Coming'], and you put it on the same album, that's a pretty good indication of where we are going and where we are at right now. But at the same time this album is all its own."
He added: "Every song has a hooky guitar riff. Everything is in minor keys, so it's a little darker sounding and a little tougher. It's definitely our heaviest record and I think people will be pleasantly surprised.
"The people who do like the poppier side of STRYPER, like 'Calling On You' and 'Holding On', this record isn't going to really give them that. There are a lot of vocal hooks and melodies going on, but it's a little darker, and a little edgier. To reference, there is less songs like 'Calling On You' and more songs like 'To Hell With The Devil'. It's more in that vein than the poppier vein."
Michael Sweet previously stated that the new STRYPER CD would contain "the best [songs] of our career [with] no pop or fluff musically or lyrically." He added: "I'm counting the days for its arrival and when it does arrive, it will be like a train speeding down the tracks — fast, heavy, unstoppable and loud! I get excited for every record, but I've never quite been this excited before. This record will be one for the books, and in my humble opinion, our best yet bar none. No pride here, just confidence that it's going to be great — really, really great." | 0

OVERKILL To Release New Album In March
New Jersey thrash metal veterans OVERKILL are working on their new studio album for a March 2014 release.
In a recent interview with Radiosuicide Photography's RSPTV, OVERKILL vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth stated about the band's plans for the coming months: "There's six songs done [for the next record so far]. What we're gonna do in the interim is we're gonna come over while recording and do European festivals. After that, we do a U.S. tour with the German band called KREATOR. It's gonna be a flip-flop headline; we'll close the shows on the East Coast in those theaters and they'll close on the West Coast in theaters, or big clubs. After that, we drop the record in March, it hits the street. They even gave me the date as March 7 already, so we're that far planned ahead for those type of activities. And after that, I'm sure that what we're gonna do is just start rolling these tours again. And I think that as we've gotten older, one of the things that we like is that we actually do more tours, but we do less touring; we're not away from home for three months or sixty days, we're away from home for three or four weeks. Three weeks is a great tour for a guy my age. Because then you don't have to recover for a month when you come home. [laughs]"
As previously reported, OVERKILL released a very special limited tour edition of its latest album, "The Electric Age", in Europe on April 19 via Nuclear Blast Records. The limited 2CD tour edition includes the regular album as well as a four additional live tracks on a bonus CD, recorded at The Metro in Sidney, Australia on September 25, 2010.
"The Electric Age" sold 6,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 77 on The Billboard 200 chart.
"The Electric Age" was recorded and mixed at Gear Recording Studios in New Jersey, owned and operated by OVERKILL bassist D.D. Verni.
To honor and celebrate Record Store Day on April 20, Nuclear Blast and OVERKILL released a limited-edition 10-inch copper-colored vinyl in gatefold containing four live tracks recorded at The Metro in Sidney, Australia on September 25, 2010.
OVERKILL was forced to drop off the "Dark Roots Of Thrash" tour with TESTAMENT in February due to Ellsworth's bout with pneumonia.

THE INFINITE STAIRCASE Upload Preview Of New Track Featuring CHRIS CAFFERY, SEVENDUST's Lajon Witherspoon And Morgan Rose, CYCLE OF PAIN's Troy Cromwell
New York/New Jersey based outfit THE INFINITE STAIRCASE have posted a preview of their forthcoming single, 'The Things We've Done', featuring SEVENDUST's Lajon Witherspoon and Morgan Rose, as well as SAVATAGE/TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA's Chris Caffery and CYCLE OF PAIN's Troy Cromwell on keyboards.
The Infinite Staircase have made a habit in recent years of collaborating with some of the most respected musicians in hard rock and heavy metal. In 2009, the band's debut album, The Road Less Taken, featured guest appearances by Blues Saraceno (POISON) and Earl Slick (DAVID BOWIE, JOHN LENNON). Saraceno also mixed the record.
In 2012 the band began work on their follow-up with Sevendust and CALL ME NO ONE Drummer Morgan Rose at the helm producing as well as taking charge behind the kit. Early sessions brought in collaborations with Sean Memphis Hennesy (CANDLEBOX), John "JD" DeServio (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, Cycle Of Pain) and Troy Cromwell (Cycle Of Pain).
Then, on October 22nd, 2012 came Hurricane Sandy and The Cerzosie brothers found themselves organizing an All-Star collaboration to raise money for the victims of the storm; a collaboration which consisted of, in addition to Morgan Rose and JD DeServio, Guitar God Zakk Wylde and Candlebox frontman Kevin Martin. What resulted was 'The Pride', a melodic mid-tempo rocker with blazing solos and screeching vocals which spent six weeks on America’s Music Charts’ Mainstream Rock Radio Top 40 with it’s highest ranking being #27.
'The Pride' was released digitally on February 5th, 2013 via Vanity Music Group with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the Carl Vincent Bini Memorial Foundation. The song was recorded at Architekt Music, the state of the art recording facility in Butler, New Jersey where Sevendust recently tracked Black Out The Sun. It was mixed by house engineer Mike Ferretti (Sevendust, Call Me No One) and mastered by Alan Douches (FLEETWOOD MAC, YES) at West West Side Music in New Windsor, New York. A limited edition CD single can be purchased at this location. | 0

MOUNTAIN THRONE Enter The Studio
Germany’s MOUNTAIN THRONE has entered the studio to record their debut full-length album, set to be released later 2013 via their new deal with Cyclone Empire
The band comments: “Mountain Throne is busy recording their first full album Stormcoven. Eight lively tunes of true and ancient heavy metal in roughly 40 minutes (vinyl-optimized album-structure for perfect symmetry) will be hammered on tape in the coming weeks; with tales about life, death, women, men, man and beast. One or two musical surprises included, but no worries - no hype, no hipster-shit, no vegan crap or occult 70's doom rock: just unadulterated crushing heavy metal! The Stormcoven LP further marks the arrival of new bass player S., a veteran heavy metal machine: welcome aboard! Trust in fate and have no fear!”

"Evil Invaders has been on the road for only a couple of years now, but from day one we’ve always felt the urge to go faster and faster. And so we did... In order to higher up the pace we definitely needed some more gear and we believe to have found the extra horsepower we needed. That’s why we’re very excited to announce that we’ll be having a new label to expand our invasion, and of course, to go even faster! We are very proud to announce that we’ll be driving along with Napalm Records, that will be releasing our first full length. At the same time we’d like to say cheers to Tony from Empire Records for his total support with our first releases. He did, and is still doing a great job! However we feel that with Napalm we’ll be having a huge-ass pile of gunpowder, and we’re sure that they have the right guns to fire our first full length, which will be coming towards you in 2014. We’re currently working hard on the new material, and we can assure you: it will be fast, loud and it will cut off your balls!"

"Our show at Graspop on June 30th marked the end of the Requiem For The Indifferent touring cycle. We would like to thank all our loyal fans who have, once again, carried Epica to the next level. Our world-tour promoting Requiem For The Indifferent has given us a ton of wonderful new memories. We played a lot of new places like Australia, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Belarus and Dubai and welcomed new fans at every one of the 100+ shows of this world-tour. A new milestone for us was reached during Retrospect, the celebration of our 10th anniversary! We will never forget being on stage with this huge orchestra and choir in front of the 4,500 fans from all over the world.
"As you know we will take a step back from playing live shows for the upcoming months since Simone and Oliver and Coen and Linda are expecting children. During this period we will be finalizing our live CD, BluRay/DVD, Retrospect, which will be released in the autumn of this year. Besides that we are in the pre-production phase of the 6th Epica studio album which we will start to record at the end of this summer and which will be released in spring 2014. We can't wait to share the Retrospect show and our new music with you all and we hope to see you on the road in 2014!!"

WINDHAND - Soma Due In September
Richmond, Virginia’s psychedelic doom band, WINDHAND, are set to release their second full-length album Soma via Relapse Records on September 17th.
After surging the DIY circuit with months of touring, their own IPA, a critically acclaimed self-titled release last year and a split with label-mates COUGH this year, Windhand have confirmed they’ll be taking the main stage at next year’s Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, The Netherlands on Saturday, April 12th.
On Soma, Windhand successfully make syrupy slow, downtuned doom hooky and anthemic. Propelled by singer Dorthia Cottrell’s beautifully haunting bellow, Windhand’s dual guitar attack sounds like the glorious misfit offspring of BLACK SABBATH and NIRVANA. The album was recorded and mixed by the band’s own Garrett Morris at The Darkroom and mastered by James Plotkin in their hometown. Take a sneak peak:
Soma includes six tracks:
'Orchard'
'Woodbine'
'Feral Bones'
'Evergreen'
'Cassock'
'Boleskin'
