SHINING: '8 ½ - Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd' Cover Artwork Unveiled
 The cover artwork (by Michal Pawlowski) for "8 ½ - Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd", the new album from Swedish extreme metallers SHINING, can be seen below. The CD will be released on September 23 via Dark Essence Records.
"8 ½ - Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd" will be made available in both CD and limited-edition black or white 12-inch vinyl versions, with liner notes by Niklas Kvarforth. All three versions are now available to pre-order at this location.
While the use of the number 8 ½ may seem a little strange to denote what would effectively be a ninth full-length album from the band, its use is deliberate because "8 ½ - Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd" is a rather special beast from SHINING, consisting of six songs from the "Livets Ändhållplats" and "Angst" era in their original pre-production versions but with the addition of newly recorded bass and guitars, as well as Lars Fredrik Fröslie's (ANGST SKVADRON, WOBBLER, ASMEGIN) keyboards, which the band didn't start using until their sixth album. Additionally, the vocals on each of the tracks will be performed by six different vocalists, including Kvarforth, who have added their own interpretation and given a totally different dimension to all the songs. It's a project that the SHINING founder and frontman has wanted to do for many years now, and it is also serves as a kick in the teeth to all the bootleggers who have tried to illegally earn money for themselves off the back of the band's hard work and creativity.

DEALS DEATH To Release 'Point Zero Solution' In September
 Swedish melodic death metallers DEALS DEATH will release their third album, "Point Zero Solution", on September 13 via Spinefarm Records. The CD, which was forged in the deep woods of Grangärde, Sweden, "contains 11 songs packed with a lyrical edge, delivered with all our blood, sweat and toil," says the band.
Having introduced themselves to a wider audience with last year's "Elite", the new CD shows DEALS DEATH's staying power and musical evolution with lush arrangements, deadlier output through and through and melodic hooks catchier than ever before.

The story of DEALS DEATH began in a music college called Boomtown, where guitarist Erik Jacobson met a couple of other students. With some further twists to the story, with which we need not bother, the band released its self-financed debut, "Internal Demons", in 2009 to rave reviews.
In 2009, DEALS DEATH recruited new members in Gothenburg and made the city their base. The second album, "Elite", was recorded in May 2010 in Gothenburg and mixed by Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY). A promo video was shot for the song "Fortified" and released in April 2011. The clip made waves on the metal scene (surpassing already half a million views) and then, a fortuitous bounce launched DEALS DEATH to a larger-than-just-metal audience, when vocalist Olle Ekman's 'Death Metal Vocal Exercises" video became a surprise YouTube hit. | 0 | |

ATOMIC HEAD Release Lyric Video For 'I Want You'
 Chilean thrash metal band ATOMIC HEAD has released a lyric video for the song 'I Want You'. The track comes off its debut album March Of The Urban Zombies and it will be released in North America via Digmetalworld Records and distributed by MVD Entertainment Group by the end of this year.
Guitarist/singer Sebastián Galindo recently commented on the track: "The song ‘I Want You’ is about military service and how the recruiters talk the new soldiers into killing people by brainwashing them and making them believe their only chance is to give their life for their country, hating the others. I myself passed through it when I was in the military service, good thing I became aware of the dangerous things they try to introduce into your head."

THE SAFETY FIRE: 'Yellowism' Video Released
 "Yellowism", the new video from London progressive metallers THE SAFETY FIRE, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's second album, "Mouth Of Swords", which will be released on September 3 in North America via InsideOut Music. The CD was once again produced by the band's own Derya "Dez" Nagle (guitar), who previously worked with Frank Turner (MONGOL HORDE), RISE TO REMAIN, and THE HAARP MACHINE. It follows the release of last year's acclaimed debut album, "Grind The Ocean", which saw the band tour the world with the likes PERIPHERY, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, GOJIRA, PROTEST THE HERO, among others.
The brilliant artwork for "Mouth Of Swords" was created by Kim Taylor. In addition, Tommy Rogers from touring partners BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME has provided guest vocals on one track.

SABATON: Behind-The-Scenes Footage From Saint Petersburg Concert With IRON MAIDEN
 Behind-the-scenes footage from SABATON's July 16 concert at Friends Arena in Saint Petersburg, Russia as the support act for IRON MAIDEN can be seen below.
SABATON's latest album, "Carolus Rex", was recently certified gold in Poland for sales in excess of 10,000 copies. The band was presented with gold plaques during their signing session in Warsaw. The CD was also certified gold in Sweden for sales in excess of 20,000 copies. (Note: The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry [IFPI] in Sweden has revised the sales requirements for albums to reach gold status in the country twice in the last 11 years — from the pre-2002 level of 40,000 to the current 20,000.)
"Carolus Rex" was released on May 22, 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records. The lyrics for the CD, which was made available in both English and Swedish, deal with the Swedish Empire (referring to the Kingdom of Sweden between 1561 and 1721).
SABATON's entire November 16, 2012 headlining concert at Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden was professionally filmed and recorded for the band's upcoming DVD and Blu-ray, tentatively due later this year.

TÝR To Release 'Valkyrja' In September
 "Valkyrja", the seventh full-length album from the Faroe Islands natives TÝR, will be released on September 17 (one day earlier internationally) via Metal Blade Records.
TÝR once again collaborated with Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark. Along with Hansen, the band recruited acclaimed drummer George Kollias to act as studio drummer and LEAVES' EYES vocalist Liv Kristine joined vocalist/guitarist Heri Joensen for a vocal duet on "The Lay of Our Love".
Limited-edition pre-order bundles are available that include TÝR rune pendants, t-shirt, vinyl LP, and the CD.
The opening track to the album, "Blood Of Heroes", is streaming now below.
"Valkyrja" is a concept album with a story line based loosely around an anonymous Viking age warrior who leaves his woman and goes off to impress the Valkyrie on the battlefield so that she may bring him to Valhalla, or to Fólkvangr, the home of Freyja — the goddess associated with love, sexuality, beauty, fertility, gold, sorcery, war, and death. One can say the album is also indirectly about women and how they affect men and what men will do to impress and obtain women.
Comments Joensen: "The woman that the warrior leaves may represent the earthly women. Freyja, The Lady Of The Slain, may represent the perfection of Women, and the Valkyrie is the link between the two, taking men from earthly to godly women."
TÝR will be on tour in Europe in September/October with FINNTROLL.

SERJ TANKIAN: 'Act II - Oceanic Subterfuge' Video Released
 The official video for the song "Act II - Oceanic Subterfuge" from SYSTEM OF A DOWN singer Serj Tankian can be seen below. The track comes off Serj's first true symphony, "Orca Symphony No. 1", which will be made available on June 25 via his own Serjical Strike Records.
Recorded in Linz, Austria in October of 2012, "Orca" was composed and demoed in Tankian's home studio and fully realized after a successful Kickstarter campaign that helped fund a recording and debut performance at the regal Brucknerhaus with the Das Karussell Ensemble. With conductor Werner Steinmetz at the helm, the four acts of "Orca" mix influences from early 20th-century composers with modern film compositional dynamics showing influences ranging from Ennio Morricone to Philip Glass. Listeners are met with a mingling of sounds and intertwining pieces that are both serene and bombastic at the same time, offering a fresh interpretation to the classical art.
According to Tankian, "Orca is known as the killer whale, but is really a dark dolphin, a symbolism for human dichotomy."
He added: "The four different acts always reminded me of earth, sky, water, and underground. Four different zones of the world, not all necessarily inhabited by Orca, but definitely controlled by men."
Upon completion of SYSTEM OF A DOWN's summer touring in August, Tankian will hang back in Europe until the commencement of his own solo orchestral tour dates that begin on September 19 in Kiev, Ukraine. The concert program will include all four acts of "Orca", but will also incorporate performances of many songs from "Elect The Dead Symphony", which achieved critical and commercial success upon its initial release and tour in 2010.

Regarding WHITESNAKE's upcoming touring plans, the band's mainman and lead singer David Coverdale recently told the Coventry Telegraph, "I absolutely love being at home with my family, so it has to be something exciting to get me out of my house. VOIVOD - Pro-Shot Footage Of Entire Hellfest Concert Streaming

ARCANIUM Release ‘Severed Moment’ Video
 After their release of the sophomore album Ontogenesis, ARCANIUM announces the release of their debut video for ‘Severed Moment’ to represent the bands image and sound for the newest record. With the vision works of Roy Warner at their side in an old sugar factory in Loveland, CO, Arcanium unleash a music video that you will never forget.
“The meaning of the song is about loss and getting back to a centered more productive self," said J-Sinn, the lead vocalist for the band. “I liked working with Roy because he had a little bit different point of view, which is something we strive for in our music as far as leaving some things a bit vague in lyrics so that it is open for interpretation, plus, it’s always pretty cool to hear what our fans have related our lyrics to in their lives”, he continued.
“The actor in this video has obviously lost something that is troubling him, but he takes a different 'way out' then I would have imagined, and, we also chose a very run down room in the sugar factory to video all the live footage of us," J-Sinn concluded.

ENTER SHIKARI Announce Limited Edition Debut Album Vinyl Reissue; New Tour Dates Confirmed
 ENTER SHIKARI have announced the reissue of their debut album, Take To The Skies, as a limited edition 2xLP coloured vinyl set. Designed to counter increasingly high prices paid by fans via online auction sites etc. for the original vinyl edition, the album will be available to pre-order from Friday, July 19th, and released on Monday, August 5th.
Fans who pre-order from the band's own webstore store or Banquet Records will receive an autographed 12" x 12" art print of the album sleeve. All vinyl copies also include a CD version of the album.
Take To The Skies was originally released in March 2007 and has gone on to sell 125,000+ copies in the UK alone thus far.
The band will play their final shows of the year in November culminating in a headline slot at London's Alexandra Palace as part of the UK leg of the Vans Warped Tour, and following appearances at the German and Dutch Warped Tour events and a short run of regional German and French headline dates (as well as a rescheduled show in Belarus). Producer/keyboard player Ricky Delin has for this album become a full member of the band, together with Hank Erix (vocals) and Freddie Allen (drums). The trio has once again used Sweden’s finest melodic rock musicians, such as the great Tommy Denander for most guitar parts and long-time band associate Soufian Ma’Aoui for the bass parts.

LIMP BIZKIT's 'Ready To Go' Video Featuring LIL WAYNE Posted Online
 The video for LIMP BIZKIT and Lil Wayne's new collaborative single, "Ready To Go" can be seen below. The track is being released via LIMP BIZKIT's new label home, Cash Money, Lil Wayne's longtime record company. "It'll be a great way to let the world know that [the band] is a part of us," Cash Money Records co-CEO and founder Bryan "Birdman" Williams told Billboard.com more than a year ago. "It's rock, but it's hip-hop-rock. I think we got that hip-hop-rock swagger."
LIMP BIZKIT is putting the finishing touches on its new studio album, "Stampede Of The Disco Elephants".
"We're really trying to get it hammered out here," LIMP BIZKIT guitarist Wes Borland told Billboard in May. "We're done with most of the music, pretty much all the music. The lyrics and vocals are probably 30 percent done, and [Fred Durst] is working as we speak, on tour."
Regarding the musical direction of LIMP BIZKIT's new CD, Borland said that the songs on "Stampede Of The Disco Elephants" have a "very live and sort of wild" feel. Moreover, fans shouldn't expect the same old LIMP BIZKIT on the album; instead, there will be quite a bit of experimentation on the effort. "I think it's a little bit more, sort of playful, taking chances, a little less pop, structured type of stuff," Borland said. "I don't want to say it [sounds] younger, but maybe a little more carefree, musically, to where we don't over-think what we're doing."
LIMP BIZKIT in 2011 parted ways with Interscope, the label that released all of the band's records thus far through its subsidiaries Flip, Geffen and Suretone Records.
When LIMP BIZKIT's deal with Cash Money was announced in March 2012, many wondered why the popular rap label would work with a band whose latest album, "Gold Cobra", has sold less than 100,000 copies in the United States since its June 2011 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "LIMP BIZKIT, to me, is just a perfect match for us," said Birdman. "It was something that [Durst] was interested in doing, and I was already a fan, and I was like, 'Let's do it.' It's good for the brand, it will bring a different look for us, and we're definitely trying to expand on that side of music."
In a recent interview with XXL, Durst said about how LIMP BIZKIT's collaboration with Cash Money came about: "I've been a fan of Wayne and Birdman and the whole Cash Money thing for a while. I went in the studio to do a track with Polow Da Don, and we ended up finding one of his beats I loved and we started working on the track and came up with 'Ready To Go'. Wes Borland came down and played the guitar — it was a hip-hop version at the time with hip-hop drums — and after I was done, I had asked Polow, 'I would love to get Wayne on the track, you think he'd be into it?' He said, 'You want me to send it to him?' So he sent it to him and got a response back that he likes it he's down with it. As we were trying to get off of Interscope, I had asked Cash Money if they wanted to put that track out themselves on their label, and just because I knew it'd get out and I knew it'd be something really cool, because I knew Wayne liked rock and skateboarding — all the things I like — and I got a call back saying, 'Why don't you guys just sign with Cash Money? Y'know, we're big fans and we'd love to have LIMP BIZKIT over here. We'd let you do what you want to do.' That's how it happened, and bingo! I loved our conversations with Baby and Slim and felt like it was just a good fit."

IRON MAIDEN: Fan-Filmed Footage Of Entire Stockholm Concert
 British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN performed in front of a sellout crowd of 55,000 at the new national stadium in Stockholm, Sweden — Friends Arena — on July 13. The venue has a roof which meant that for the first time ever in Sweden, IRON MAIDEN fans were able to enjoy the full glory of the entire "Maiden England" show in a dark stadium.

A review of the show at MaidenRevelations.com reads in part: "The great Doug Hall is no longer in charge of MAIDEN's front-of-house, and there has been widespread criticism of below-par sound quality throughout the tour."
It continues: "The sound where I stood was not critically bad, but some issues are obvious. The general sound level seems a little low for such a huge arena, and the guitars are sorely missing in the mix, with even the solos sometimes being hard to discern. Nicko's [McBrain] drums are booming and present throughout, but Steve's [Harris] bass (of all things) go missing with regularity. There's something weird about hearing the intro to 'The Clairvoyant' without actually feeling the bass in your gut…
"Yes, this is an issue. There is no reason why the best band in the world should not have the best sound in the world. It's been an ongoing complaint since the first gig of 2012, and over a year later I have to agree — the sound lets the band down, and is also a lot less than the fans deserve."

NEWSTED: Audio Samples Of Entire Debut Album
 Audio samples of all 11 tracks that are set to appear on "Heavy Metal Music", the full-length debut from NEWSTED — the new band featuring former METALLICA, VOIVOD and FLOTSAM AND JETSAM bassist Jason Newsted and STAIND guitarist Mike Mushok — can be streamed in the YouTube clip below.
"Heavy Metal Music" will be released on August 6 in North America via Chophouse Records/Collective Sounds and August 5 in Europe through Spinefarm Records. Jason told Billboard.com the 11-song album will be very similar to the band's debut EP, "Metal", which sold around 6,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 62 on The Billboard 200 chart. "The EP was always intended to be the primer, a sampler of what was to come on the LP," he said. "It's all metal all the time. It's not all fast, but it is all heavy."
Regarding how the material for NEWSTED's debut album came together, Jason told Loudwire: "It started out as my seeds for the first eleven songs that I made on my GarageBand thing. I wrote all the tracks — guitars, bass, drums, everything and gave them to Jessie [Farnsworth, guitar] and Jesus [Mendez Jr., drums] and had them go learn it, put their artistry on it and so it was collaborative in that way for the first batch. Like the four songs on the EP came from that initial eleven, so that's how those songs went. Each day as we get deeper into the songs, the collaboration gets deeper as well. I have come a long way from my tunnel vision of 'Only my ideas are good enough' bullshit, and I'm a lot more open to everyone's ideas and the artistry of each person to make it what it is. And three heads is better than one and that kind of thing. So it has become more collaborative as we go. I've written ten more since that time in October last year and a few of them have made their way onto this LP now. Once again, they were all my seeds, but now that we have Mike Mushok in the band and I give the music to all three of those guys, now I have three great artists bringing back their responses and their counterpoint playing to my ideas, so it's becoming more and more collaborative every day and on this LP there will be shared writing credits on at least half of the songs with the writing credits now."
As previously reported, three songs from NEWSTED — "Long Time Dead", "King Of The Underdogs" and "Heroic Dose" — are featured in the newest episode of Break Media's hit web series "Man At Arms".
NEWSTED's heavy metal pairs as background for the gritty series, which follows famous Hollywood blacksmith Tony Swatton as he builds real-life versions of iconic pop-culture ("Pirates Of The Caribbean", "The Matrix", "Spider-Man", etc.) weapons by hand.
NEWSTED is taking part in this year's edition of Gigantour, the critically acclaimed package festival founded in 2005 by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine. Also appearing on the bill are headliners MEGADETH, along with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, DEVICE, HELLYEAH and DEATH DIVISION.
NEWSTED is being forced to miss this week's Gigantour dates in Canada after Jason was diagnosed with "walking pneumonia."
NEWSTED kicked off its first-ever U.S. tour on April 19 at Red House in Walnut Creek, California. The 14-date trek concluded on May 23 in Asbury Park, New Jersey and led into a number of European festival appearances for the band.

ACE FREHLEY Working On New Album
 Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley has spent the past few days in the studio with drummer Matt Starr (BURNING RAIN) and bassist Chris Wyse (THE CULT, OWL) working on Ace's new album.
A couple of photos from the most recent studio sessions can be seen below.
Ace's latest CD, "Anomaly", was released on September 15, 2009 via Ace's own Bronx Born Records, with Rocket Science providing a full label service platform in the U.S., "Anomaly" was produced and recorded in Westchester County, New York between 2007 and 2009 and was mixed in Los Angeles.
Frehley's memoir, "No Regrets: A Rock 'N' Roll Memoir", landed at position No. 10 on the New York Times "Hardcover Nonfiction" best sellers list. The book, which is described as a look back at Ace's "life of sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll," arrived in November 2011 via Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.
Frehley performed with KISS from its inception in 1973 until his first departure in 1982 before rejoining KISS in 1996 for a very successful reunion tour. Frehley's second stint lasted until 2002 as Ace went back to being a solo artist again, but the stories and memories still remain from touring in one of rock and roll's most successful acts of all time. | 0 | |

OZZY On ROLLING STONE 'Bomber' Controversy: 'I Wouldn't Put Him On A Roll Of Toilet Paper'
 BLACK SABBATH singer Ozzy Osbourne has weighed in on the controversy surrounding the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine which features a cover photo of the Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Critics have accused the magazine of glorifying Tsarnaev like a rock star by depicting him in the same light as a young Bob Dylan or Jim Morrison.
Speaking to Mistress Carrie of the Worcester/Boston, Massachusetts radio station WAAF on Wednesday (July 17), Ozzy said, "I'm sorry, I wouldn't put [Tsarnaev] on a roll of toilet paper, let alone the front cover of Rolling Stone."
Regarding the city of Boston, Ozzy said, "It will take more than two idiots to stop Boston. Boston is a strong town, man. It's my kind of town."
The editors at Rolling Stone have released a statement defending the cover. "Our hearts go out to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing, and our thoughts are always with them and their families," they wrote. "The cover story we are publishing this week falls within the traditions of journalism and Rolling Stone's long-standing commitment to serious and thoughtful coverage of the most important political and cultural issues of our day. The fact that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is young, and in the same age group as many of our readers, makes it all the more important for us to examine the complexities of this issue and gain a more complete understanding of how a tragedy like this happens."
