Video: AVENGED SEVENFOLD Performs New Single Live For First Time
 AVENGED SEVENFOLD played its new single and the title track of its sixth studio album, "Hail To The King", live for the first time last night (Wednesday, July 17) at the Rock USA festival in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below.
"Hail To The King" will be released on August 27. The long-awaited follow-up to 2010's "Nightmare" was once again produced by Mike Elizondo and is the first to be wholly written without drummer and key songwriter James "The Rev" Sullivan, who died in December 2009. Sullivan has since been replaced by Arin Ilejay, a former member of CONFIDE.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD has announced the "Hail To The King" tour — a massive headlining U.S. arena tour to take place this October and the band's first full scale American tour since 2011. The run of dates will kick off in Chicago, Illinois on Thursday, October 3 and wrap up on October 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Supporting the band on all dates will be special guests DEFTONES and GHOST B.C.
Additionally, fans of AVENGED SEVENFOLD can pre-order a special, limited-edition box set of "Hail To The King". The antique gold colored embossed foil wrapped "treasure box" will feature exclusive "Hail To The King" artwork and include a deluxe version of the album on CD with a download card to an extra bonus track, an exclusive Canvas Print, a 20-page photo book featuring photos of the band through out the years, a Death Bat Challenge Coin, Death Bat Skeleton Key, an instant download of the new single, and a download of the album on street date. VISTA CHINO: New Song 'Barcelonian' Available For Streaming
 "Barcelonian", a brand new song from VISTA CHINO, the group comprised of two founding members of the legendary rock band KYUSS — Brant Bjork and John Garcia — and guitarist Bruno Fevery, can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below. The track comes off VISTA CHINO's debut album, "Peace", on September 3 (one day earlier internationally) via Napalm Records. The cover artwork for the CD was created by the renowned California art collective The Date Farmers.

VISTA CHINO has tapped Mike Dean (CORROSION OF CONFORMITY) to play bass on the band's European tour.
Dean handled bass duties for VISTA CHINO at their first North American performance, which took place at this year's Orion Music + More festival — curated by METALLICA — in Detroit, Michigan.
The final live appearances of KYUSS LIVES! — featuring the same lineup as VISTA CHINO — took place in early 2013 as part of Australia's Soundwave Festival.
KYUSS LIVES! decided to change its name after a lawsuit launched by former KYUSS members Josh Homme and Scott Reeder prevented KYUSS LIVES! from recording and releasing any new material.
Commented Garcia: "KYUSS LIVES! is now VISTA CHINO!...it feels great just to write that....and to say it out loud, feels even better. Now that our relationship with Napalm Records is official; it's time to forget about the past year, move forward, and execute our original plan, which was to make kick-ass music and tour the world!"
Speaking to Music Feeds, Brant was asked whether there was a slight sense of relief that the legal dispute over the KYUSS name is over. "Absolutely," he replied. "There's always relief when conflict is resolved and people can just let go and move forward. That's where we're at and we feel great. It's always unfortunate to experience differences with specific people, but we feel great as a band. We're really, really excited to move forward into the future and focus on what it is that we do, which is play music."
Regarding whether the change of band's name to VISTA CHINO would have happened had it not been for the lawsuit, Brant said: "That's a good question. The answer to that question is: I don't know. Possibly. We didn't really think about it. We were really just looking at what was in front of us and making our decisions based on what our present situation was. But now we just came to a point where we felt that changing the name was appropriate and was the fastest way for us to get back to playing music." | 0 | |

COAL CHAMBER: Fan-Filmed Footage Of GRASPOP METAL MEETING Performance
 Fan-filmed video footage of COAL CHAMBER's June 28 performance at this year's Graspop Metal Meeting in Dessel, Belgium can be seen below.
COAL CHAMBER and SEVENDUST earlier in the year took part in a U.S. co-headlining tour. Also appearing on the bill was LACUNA COIL.
In a recent interview with the WGRD 97.9 FM radio station in Grand Rapids, Michigan, COAL CHAMBER frontman Dez Fafara (also of DEVILDRIVER) stated about theband's current status: "COAL CHAMBER, for me right now, is like a really fine woman, man. I've gotta re-date her — she's back in my life, I've gotta see how she is, and we've gotta take our time with each other. And that's what we're doing. And I think that's the important thing — we're doing it for the love of the music as well. There's a lot of people that never got to either see COAL CHAMBER live or haven't seen us in a long time due to the breakup.
"It's good to see [the other guys in the band] off hard drugs, man, and you can see their guys are crystal clear, and it makes me wanna do music with them again.
"Right now, with COAL CHAMBER, that's what we're doing — we're taking it slow. [Last September], they sent me some new tunes and said, 'Hey, would you ever think about doing a new record? Here's some new tunes.' And they were absolutely killer. They were moving forward with their sound, but yet you could tell it was COAL CHAMBER, but it wasn't so linear. So who knows what's gonna happen in the future, man? We're just playing it by ear at this point. I've got a lot going on right now, so we just have to really see."
Regarding why neither of the two former COAL CHAMBER bassists — Nadja Peulen or Rayna Foss — is involved in the band's reunion, Dez told Full Metal Jackie in a separate interview, "Rayna was not [asked to be a part of it]. Rayna has been out of the band for a very long time. We did speak to Nadja. She has other things going and it wasn't really in the headspace where we were at as a band. We found Chela; she's Canadian and she's a bad-ass player. She's been playing for nearly [15] years. She plays five-string and it's good to have her on bass. She grew up with COAL CHAMBER. Where Meegs and Mikey and I am right now, we're really excited so we needed someone that filled that excitement drawer and she did for sure; she's stoked."

DISTURBED Guitarist's FIGHT OR FLIGHT: Entire Debut Album Available For Streaming
 "A Life By Design?", the debut album from FIGHT OR FLIGHT, the new band featuring DISTURBED guitarist Dan Donegan and drummer Mike Wengren, along with EVANS BLUE singer Dan Chandler, Sean Corcoran of RA on bass and Jeremy Jayson on guitar, is available for streaming in its entirety using the SoundCloud widget below (courtesy of RevolverMag.com). The CD will be released on July 23.
Donegan began writing songs on his own last year and approached Chandler about a possible collaboration. The two began emailing music to each other and getting together to write whenever Chandler was in Chicago, where Donegan lives, until they had enough material to record a full album.
In a posting on the DISTURBED Facebook page, Donegan writes: "[I] just wanted to thank you all for taking the time to check out mine and Mike's new side-project FIGHT OR FLIGHT! No, this does NOT mean the end of DISTURBED, as David [Draiman, DISTURBED singer] has also made that clear.
"We love you the fans that have given us this life and the outlet to express ourselves for many years now. This has just become another extension of us.
"I get it, I understand why some of you may be mad that we are all doing other things right now, but let me assure you that all of us are looking forward to the day we return as DISTURBED to show you how much you mean to us. But in the meantime, we are all focused and giving 110% to our individual projects.
"Whether you love it or hate it, we all pour our blood, sweat and tears into making music for us and the satisfaction we get from it. We hope you find a connection with it as well …
"Music has always been therapeutic for everyone. That’s why we do it. It makes me feel good and any worries go away. It brings me peace in my life and I cannot live without it.
"I look forward to hopefully seeing some familiar faces once we hit the road with FIGHT OR FLIGHT and then again with DISTURBED someday!"
Donegan told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago that he liked the idea of playing with other musicians. "This whole career with DISTURBED, I've always been jamming with the same people, which has been amazing. But I want to feel that I can actually, you know, just continue to expand and explore, you know, different paths as we progress, hopefully, in the future, maybe if there is another album from us."
Donegan said in a statement about the FIGHT OR FLIGHT album, "This is more hard rock. It's got edgy moments, but there's more melody across the board. We had the chance to experiment as well. There are acoustic guitars and some electronics even. It's different all around."
Dan Chandler has been the vocalist for EVANS BLUE since 2009, when he replaced original singer Kevin Matisyn. The band's most recent offering was 2012's "Graveyard Of Empires".

UNKIND: 'Olemisen Pelko' Video Released
 "Olemisen Pelko", the new video from Finnish hardcore heroes UNKIND, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's new album, "Pelon Juuret", which was released on CD/LP/digital via Relapse Records on July 9 in North America, July 8 in the U.K., and July 5 in Germany, Benelux, and Finland. According to a press release, the effort continues in the direction of the group's previous work, offering up a furious fusion of d-beat hardcore crossed with a highly creative touch of atmospherics —as if MOGWAI made a record of TRAGEDY covers or FROM ASHES RISE were influenced by EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY.
"Pelon Juuret" was recorded at the end of 2012 with producer Kari Nieminen at Noisecamp studios in Turku, Finland.
UNKIND previously issued five full-length albums and a handful of vinyl-only releases.

SEPULTURA: New Album Title Announced
 Brazilian/American thrashers SEPULTURA have set "The Mediator Between The Head And Hands Must Be The Heart" as the title of their new album, due in October via Nuclear Blast Records.
Although it was inspired by Fritz Lang's classic 1927 movie "Metropolis", the CD is not a concept album or a soundtrack like its precedessors "Dante XXI" (based on "The Divine Comedy") and "A-Lex" (based on "A Clockwork Orange").
"The Mediator Between The Head And Hands Must Be The Heart" was tracked over a 40-day period at producer Ross Robinson's (KORN, LIMP BIZKIT, SLIPKNOT) studio in Venice, California and will be mixed and mastered by co-producer Steve Evetts, who previously worked with SEPULTURA on the "Nation" (2001), "Revolusongs" (2002) and "Roorback" (2003) albums, in addition to having collaborated with Ross on a number of other projects in the past.
The follow-up to 2011's "Kairos" will contain nine songs, including "The Age Of The Atheist", "Tsunami", "The Vatican" and "Trauma Of War", and two bonus tracks (covers of DEATH's "Zombie Ritual" and a song from the Brazilian group CHICO SCIENCE E NAÇÃO ZUMBI). The CD will also feature a guest appearance by former SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo.
Commented guitarist Andreas Kisser: "I was inspired by a phrase which is the main message of the story: 'The mediator between the head and hands must be the heart' to express what we are saying on the lyrics.
"In the movie, a crazy millionaire wants to transform a robot into a real person. That's kind of the opposite of what we live today. More than ever we are robotized, through the worldwide web, Google glasses, chips under our skins and the globalized slavery our society suffers nowadays. The phrase points to the heart as being the human factor who keeps a man, a man, not a robot. The heart beats with freedom of choice, we have to think by ourselves to create a real world, not a matrix. ?
"Being a novel written in the early 1920s, it's almost prophetical. It helped us to put the ideas together for the lyrics to express what we see today.
"I live in São Paulo, Brasil, one of the big metropolis in the world with more than 20,000,000 people living and working in it. I know how it is to live in daily chaos, our music reflects a lot of that feeling.
"The album is brutal, fast and straight to the point, I feel this is the best SEPULTURA ever, no bullshit.
"To work with Ross Robinson again was a privilege, one of the best producers out there. He has a strong connection with nature, the human heart, with life in general.
"We did an album that is alive, no fake studio tricks, we were jamming together in the room exploding in an energy so strong you could grab it.
"The heart will never stop beating for mankind. We are no robots, we are pure natural energy and that's worth fighting for. We're not slaves; I have a pulsing heart!"
SEPULTURA's upcoming CD will mark the first time the band will have recorded an album outside Brazil since "Against".
The reunion between SEPULTURA and Robinson was first suggested by Monte Conner, the former Roadrunner Records A&R chief who is now the head of Nuclear Blast Entertainment, a U.S. partnership with Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger.
Robinson produced SEPULTURA's classic "Roots" album in 1995. Released in February 1996 by Roadrunner, it was the band's last studio album to feature founding member and vocalist Max Cavalera.

SABATON: Behind-The-Scenes Footage From Stockholm Concert With IRON MAIDEN
 Behind-the-scenes footage from SABATON's July 13 concert at Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden as the support act for IRON MAIDEN can be seen below.
SABATON's latest album, "Carolus Rex", was recently certified gold in Poland for sales in excess of 10,000 copies. The band was presented with gold plaques during their signing session in Warsaw. The CD was also certified gold in Sweden for sales in excess of 20,000 copies. (Note: The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry [IFPI] in Sweden has revised the sales requirements for albums to reach gold status in the country twice in the last 11 years — from the pre-2002 level of 40,000 to the current 20,000.)
"Carolus Rex" was released on May 22, 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records. The lyrics for the CD, which was made available in both English and Swedish, deal with the Swedish Empire (referring to the Kingdom of Sweden between 1561 and 1721).
SABATON's entire November 16, 2012 headlining concert at Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden was professionally filmed and recorded for the band's upcoming DVD and Blu-ray, tentatively due later this year.

REVENGE Signs With SEASON OF MIST
 Season Of Mist has announced the signing of Canadian black metal chaos extremists REVENGE for the release of the band’s forthcoming fifth album, to be recorded in 2014.
During its 13-year history, REVENGE has become one of the most prevalent bands in the Canadian black metal underground. Utilizing militant imagery, a strong ideology, and an extremely confrontational live show, the band has built a large die hard following worldwide amongst the fringe elements of the black metal, death metal, and noise scenes.
REVENGE has been called "incomprehensible non-musical chaos" by some and "total genius" by others. These polarizing views about REVENGE have been a constant theme during most of the band's existence and it doesn't look like things will change any time soon. The group refuses to betray their original intent and continues to maintain a lone wolf doctrine, existing strictly on their own terms as they have from day one. REVENGE forges ahead with full force, looking down with disdain on all who question their approach of total hatred towards the swine known as mankind.

RECKLESS LOVE To Release 'Spirit' In September
 RECKLESS LOVE, the flamboyant Finnish rockers who burst spectacularly onto the UK scene in 2010, will release their third album, "Spirit", on September 2 via Spinefarm Records. Produced by Ilkka Wirtanen, and with mixing duties divided between Ilkka Wirtanen, Juha Heininen and Petri Majuri, the follow-up to 2011's "Animal Attraction" represents a bold step forward for RECKLESS LOVE, with the commercial aspects of the music pushed to new and heady heights, plus the heavier side showing some serious bite, with the wonderfully titled "Metal Ass" hugging the fast lane from first note to last.

THE WINERY DOGS is the power trio featuring Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, ADRENALINE MOB), legendary bassist Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG, TALAS, DAVID LEE ROTH) and Richie Kotzen (MR. BIG, POISON).
"In all of my years in this business, I've always been part of either a progressive band or a metal band," said Portnoy. "This is the first time I've been in an all-original band that's just a rock band in the vein of LED ZEPPELIN or VAN HALEN."
He added: "It's so refreshing to just play straight-ahead music with lots of twists. Obviously, the musicianship is great in this band, but it's very song-oriented."
THE WINERY DOGS' self-titled debut album will be released in North America on July 23 via Loud & Proud Records. BLACK ANVIL Begins Recording New Album
 New York black metal crew BLACK ANVIL has entered Magpie Cage Studios in Baltimore, Maryland with renowned producer J. VARG VIKERNES And Wife Released From Custody
 BURZUM mastermind Varg Vikernes (a.k.a. Count Grishnackh) and his 25-year-old French wife, Marie Cachet, have been released from custody — just two days after they were arrested on suspicion of planning a "massacre." French prosecutors confirmed to NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation) that Vikernes was freed at 7:00 p.m. Thursday night. The couple were picked up Tuesday morning on their farm near the town of Salon-la-Tour, a commune in the Corrèze department in central France.
French police can hold suspects in terrorism cases for up to 96 hours before bringing preliminary charges.
Vikerenes, 40, who has been living in France for the past three years, and his wife were arrested as a preventive measure after Vikernes posted aggressive racist, xenophobic and anti-Semitic comments on Internet forums. The couple's home was searched and five guns were found, including four rifles legally purchased by Varg's wife as a member of a rifle club.
"Vikernes did not plan terror attacks," his French lawyer, Julien Freyssinet, told Aftenposten, according to the French news bureau AFP. "The weapons are purchased for the couple's leisure activities and life philosophy. Vikernes only wants to live peacefully with his family."
He added that weapons seized by officers at the couple's home had been acquired "completely legally and without hiding a thing, as part of a philosophy followed by the couple — that of survivalism."
According to the AFP, Vikernes had been under police surveillance for many years, but it was only when his wife acquired weapons that police started a formal investigation.
In 2011, Vikernes called for the French to vote for the National Front (FN), writing on his official web site that doing so would be the only way to avoid the scourge of mass immigration.
In the open letter, entitled "Dear France," he said: "Your parents may induce you into a vote other than for the FN, but do not listen. They are responsible for the plight of today’s France, because they were too ignorant and too loose, or too brainwashed, to do as they should. They have already proved to the world that they have failed and betrayed France."
Varg was convicted in 1994 and sentenced to Norway's longest prison term of 21 years for the August 1993 murder of MAYHEM guitarist Oystein Aarseth (a.k.a. Euronymous) and for burning down three churches, including the original Holmenkollen Chapel next to the Holmenkollen Ski Jump in Oslo. He was released from prison in 2009 after serving 16 years of that sentence.

PHAZE I Featuring SOILWORK Drummer To Release Sophomore Album
 PHAZE I, the violent brainchild of David Potvin (LYZANXIA) and his brother Franck Potvin (LYZANXIA) as well as friend Dirk Verbeuren (SOILWORK, DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT), will release its sophomore album in October via Trepan Records/Wormholedath.
PHAZE I has been years in the making, the Potvins working on this ferocious side project in between their LYZANXIA albums and gigs. It finally came fully into fruition in 2005 when David (vocals, guitar, bass), Franck (vocals, guitar) and Dirk (drums) managed to set some time aside together to record the first PHAZE I album at David's The Dome Studio. Soon after completing its self-titled debut, PHAZE I signed a deal with Scarlet Records. The record was mastered by Peter In De Betou at Tailor Made Studios.
Now, in mid-2013, PHAZE I's second CD is ready to pulverize the earth. Drums were recorded at Dirk's Die Crawling studio. The rest of the album was produced by David at The Dome Studio in 2012. | 0 | |

NEWSTED: New Song 'Ampossible' Available For Streaming
 "Ampossible", a brand new song from NEWSTED — the new band featuring former METALLICA, VOIVOD and FLOTSAM AND JETSAM bassist Jason Newsted and STAIND guitarist Mike Mushok — can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below.
As previously reported, three songs from NEWSTED are featured in the newest episode of Break Media's hit web series "Man At Arms".
NEWSTED's heavy metal pairs as background for the gritty series, which follows famous Hollywood blacksmith Tony Swatton as he builds real-life versions of iconic pop-culture ("Pirates Of The Caribbean", "The Matrix", "Spider-Man", etc.) weapons by hand.
The three NEWSTED songs featured in the episode — "Long Time Dead", "King Of The Underdogs" and "Heroic Dose" — will appear on the band's full-length debut, "Heavy Metal Music", which will be released on August 6 in North America via Chophouse Records/Collective Sounds and August 5 in Europe through Spinefarm Records. Jason told Billboard.com the 11-song album will be very similar to the band's debut EP, "Metal", which sold around 6,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 62 on The Billboard 200 chart. "The EP was always intended to be the primer, a sampler of what was to come on the LP," he said. "It's all metal all the time. It's not all fast, but it is all heavy."

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY To Release 'Unblackened' DVD, Blu-Ray In September
"Unblackened", the new live DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital Video from BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, will be released on September 24 by Eagle Rock Entertainment. Zakk's label home, eOne Music, will also release the audio version of the "Unblackened" DVD under the same name. The double disc release will have six additional tracks not found on the DVD, including two acoustic versions of "Queen Of Sorrow" and "Won't Find It Here", and covers of LEON RUSSELL's "Song For You" and "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone" by BILL WITHERS.
Since their early nineties inception, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, formed and helmed by guitar legend Zakk Wylde, has been at the forefront of hard rock. Their penchant for hard riffs and blazing solos has resulted in a slew of hugely successful albums and a reputation as one of the most powerful live bands of their generation. "Unblackened", however, unveils another side of the band.
Filmed and recorded on March 6 in high definition at Los Angeles' Club Nokia, "Unblackened" is BLACK LABEL SOCIETY presenting their songs in a whole new light, with greater use of acoustic instrumentation. Wylde plays both guitar and piano, with Nick Catanase on guitar, John DeServio on bass/vocals, Chad Szeliga on drums, Derek Sherinian on keyboards/piano, and Greg Locascio providing additional vocals.
Their stripped-down approach highlights the subtler nuances of the songwriting, without losing any of the fire or intensity. Classic tracks like "Stillborn", "The Blessed Hellride", "In This River", "Throwin' It All Away", "Losin' Your Mind" and many others are still punctuated by the stinging, searing solos that fans know and love, while showcasing the versatility of the band.

DENIAL Signs With PULVERISED RECORDS
 Mexican death metallers DENIAL have inked a deal with Pulverised Records. The band is currently recording two new songs for a seven-inch EP, after which they will fully focus on writing brand new material for the upcoming second full-length album.
Says the band: "We are proud to have always worked with professional labels and real supporters of this rites of the obscure. With Pulverised Records, we now step into a cavernous deep, bestowing us with more flesh and blood to perform ghastly and unaltered invocations to those who have been lost for centuries..."

TRUTH CORRODED Begins Recording New Album
 Australian thrashers TRUTH CORRODED have entered the studio to record their new album, "The Saviours Slain", for a late 2013 release in Australia and New Zealand through Truth Inc Records.
The band will be working with Mark Lewis at Audiohammer Studio in Sanford, Florida for mixing and mastering. Lewis has had a huge year of recording crushing new albums by such bands as BATTLECROSS, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, DEVILDRIVER, ARSIS and UNEARTH, building on a highly impressive score of previous releases which includes such acts as WHITECHAPEL and CHIMAIRA.
This will be the first TRUTH CORRODED album written with guitarist Wayne Batters, who replaced rhythm guitarist and founding member Mark Lennard on his departure in 2011.
"Writing a new album without Mark has been challenging, as he is the definitive TRUTH CORRODED sound, and I have been working with him ever since I started playing," comments bass player and co-writer Greg Shaw. "However, it has been a success.
"'The Saviours Slain' sounds like a progression on from our previous two albums and captures elements of each while bringing some new dimensions as well, and continues the great work Mark has accomplished with the band."
Shaw and vocalist Jason North are the remaining original members of TRUTH CORRODED. However, the band will be featuring a special guest former member, ex-lead guitarist Corey Grieve, on the album.
"Corey has returned to record the leads for the new album and his shred is outstanding. It really feels great to work with him again," comments North.

Former HELLION Bassist TEDDY DAYS Dies
 Former HELLION bassist Teddy Days passed away on July 10. He is perhaps best remembered by the band's fans for his appearance on the "Stormrider" and "Living In Hell" videos from HELLION's "The Black Book" album.
Says HELLION singer Ann Boleyn: "Over the past year I repeatedly tried to find and contact Teddy concerning participating in the new HELLION. I left a lot of messages, but since none were returned, I don't know if he ever received them.
"Teddy was a mellow guy and had many good friends in Southern California. He was a regular at the FM Station before it closed.
"My thoughts and best wishes go out to his family and friends."
HELLION has set "To Hellion And Back" as the title of its upcoming anthology CD, which is scheduled for release this summer. The anthology will include fan favorites from all of HELLION's albums.
In 1982, HELLION became the first American metal act with a female singer to achieve international acclaim. Throughout the last three decades, HELLION has shared stages throughout the world with acts such as SLAYER, DIO, EXODUS, WHITESNAKE and many more. HELLION was the first American metal band to to tour in the former Soviet Union (now Russia). HELLION was also the first female-fronted metal act to gain airplay on MTV and VH1.

CRADLE OF FILTH Singer, Keyboardist Collaborating On 'Fading Star' Song
 Vocalist Dani "Filth" Davey of British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH is currently working on a track with CRADLE OF FILTH keyboardist Lindsay Schoolcraft, tentatively titled "Fading Star", which sees the two of them duet for what promises to be an epic partnership. The song is destined for possible movie use in Lindsay's home country of Canada.
As previously reported, CRADLE OF FILTH is working on an adult comic book, the story for which has been scripted by the comic writer Kurt Amacker (with assistance from the band's singer, Dani Filth). Several artists are in the process of mocking up some example pages for the prospective publishers. Dani states: "I am very excited about this venture, as it promises to be a very adult story woven straight from the CRADLE OF FILTH universe, featuring a liberated Oscar Wilde, the Demoness Lilith, nefarious sexual magickal practices and an errant Suffolk Lord who is in the unenviable process of being charged under 19th-century blasphemy laws, discovering himself engaged in a nightmarish occult netherworld."
CRADLE OF FILTH's tenth studio album, "The Manticore And Other Horrors", sold 4,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 96 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous full-length effort, "Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa", opened with 5,800 units in November 2010 to land at No. 99.

VARG VIKERNES Was a 'Family Man' Who Lived A Peaceful Life With His Wife And Children
 NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation) has posted photos of the farm near the town of Salon-la-Tour, a commune in the Corrèze department in central France, where BURZUM mastermind Varg Vikernes (a.k.a. Count Grishnackh) and his wife were arrested yesterday morning (Tuesday, July 16) on suspicion of planning a "massacre." A video report can also be seen below.
Vikernes' neighbor Natalie Langlad told NRK that she was shocked to learn through media reports that five guns were found in the couple's home, including four rifles legally purchased by Varg's wife as a member of a rifle club.
"[Varg] went often wore military appearel," she said. "But the area here is known for hunting so it's not so unusual that he would go out wearing hunting clothes."
When Vikernes and his wife were arrested Tuesday morning, neighbors said they only heard the dogs barking and were otherwise unaware of what had happened.
Vikernes was described by his neighbors as a "family man" who lived a peaceful life with his wife and children.
"He seemed very nice and attentive towards the children," Langlad said.
The mayor of Salon-la-Tour told AFP that Vikernes had a year ago settled with his family in a rented house, away from the village.
"He doesn't speak French very well," Jean-Claude Chauffour said, adding that the family had three children and that Varg's wife was pregnant with her fourth.
"The wife said that she had bad memories from school, and she therefore did not want to send their oldest son there," Chauffour told NRK. "Instead, the son was being taught at home."

MOTÖRHEAD Guitarist: 'LEMMY Is On The Mend And We Are Gonna Be Touring Our Asses Off'
 MOTÖRHEAD canceled a handful of shows on its European festival tour earlier this month after the band's frontman, Lemmy Kilmister, suffered a haematoma (where blood collects outside of a blood vessel). The news of Lemmy's latest medical issue followed reports that he was also recently fitted with a defibrillator because of heart problems.
MOTÖRHEAD's new album, "Aftershock", is tentatively due in September. The follow-up to 2010's "The Wörld Is Yours" was recorded at Maple Sound Studios in Santa Ana, California with longtime producer Cameron Webb and will feature 13 songs, including "Dust And Glass", "Knife", "Going To Mexico", "Lost Woman Blues", "Death Machine" and "Heartbreaker".
In a brand new online posting, MOTÖRHEAD guitarist Phil Campbell (pictured below) writes: "Hey, everyone out there. Better prepare yourselves big time, 'cos our mind-blowing new record, 'Aftershock', will be coming out! Lemmy is on the mend and we are gonna be touring our asses off!!! Business as usual real soon!"
Phil Campbell will bring his new project, the PHIL CAMPBELL ALL STAR BAND, to the Bloodstock Open Air festival, set to take place August 8-11 at Catton Hall in Walton On Trent, Derbyshire, England.

COREY TAYLOR On SLIPKNOT: 'We're Starting To Feel Like A Family Again'
 In a brand new interview with RollingStone.com, SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR singer Corey Taylor was asked about the current status of SLIPKNOT and whether there is talk of doing a new studio album.
"We've been slowly but surely starting to kind of bandy that about," Corey replied. "We're doing a handful of shows this year in Europe, and maybe a couple at the end of the year — possibly in South America. And then next year, we're kind of starting to get the machine together, to see what can happen. It's finally starting to feel like it's time. Not just for me, but for a bunch of guys in the band.
"We've all come a long way in the last couple of years. We've all started to get our own shit together, and we're starting to feel like a family again, which is huge for us.
"As dysfunctional as this band has been in the past, we've always been there for each other. And we're really starting to reflect that now. So I think since we're all on the same page, it's going to make it a little easier to think about going into a studio and making new music without Paul [Gray, SLIPKNOT's bassist who died in 2010]. And that was one of the biggest things — just not wanting to really face it. But I think it's really starting to get close to being the right time. I think next year is finally going to be time to do that."
SLIPKNOT has performed live over the past two years but has not recorded a new album since 2008's "All Hope Is Gone".
SLIPKNOT mastermind/percussionist M. Shawn "Clown" Crahan spoke with Kerrang! magazine about the band's continued delay in recording a new studio CD. The SLIPKNOT co-founder explained: "We haven't written an album in five years because we wrote one, we toured it for two years, and Paul died, and it's been three years. What do you want from me? Nothing. When I come back, when we come back, it will be time, you will understand, we will understand, and it will be right. We'll be the first band that could be off for five years and come back like we never were gone. So that's what it's all about."

METALLICA: 'Welcome Home (Sanitarium)' Pro-Shot Performance Clip From 'Orion Music + More'

According to The Pulse Of Radio, METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo said on the ground at the festival that he was eager to bring the show back to Detroit in 2014. "We've got to come back here, you know," he said. "This is a great place. This city needs it. The weekend has been a blast and I can't wait 'til next year. I've already got ideas for next year, so we're looking forward to it."
As previously reported, METALLICA played a surprise set on June 8 under the name DEHAAN, playing their entire 1983 debut disc "Kill 'Em All" from front to back.
The band's headlining set the following night, which closed out the festival, featured rarities like "Carpe Diem, Baby", "I Disappear" and "Disposable Heroes" alongside the band's more traditional hits and live favorites.
The members of METALLICA were also spotted hanging out at their personal lifestyle exhibits, with James Hetfield seen at his custom car display, Trujillo overseeing the skateboarding at the Vans Vert Ramp, and drummer Lars Ulrich premiering a clip from the upcoming movie "Metallica Through The Never" alongside director Nimród Antal.
The Metallica Museum displayed the bass that Cliff Burton played at his final concert before his 1986 death in a Swedish bus crash, as well as other instruments, stage props and vintage concert flyers.
Robert Trujillo played two other sets during the course of the weekend, first with a reunion of funk-rockers INFECTIOUS GROOVES and then with his own TRUJILLO TRIO.
Spokesperson Charlie Walker of promoter C3 Presents said that around 20,000 attended the first day, with possibly more showing up on Sunday. As for whether Orion will return to Detroit next year, he replied, "We'll go through this one, wrap it up, see what the feedback is . . . Then we'll sit down and try to get a grip on what to do next."
A total of 37 groups, including the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, DEFTONES, SILVERSUN PICKUPS, RISE AGAINST and BASSNECTAR, performed on Orion's five stages.
THE JOY FORMIDABLE was unable to perform their show after arriving late in Detroit due to travel issues.
James Hetfield personally introduced the SILVERSUN PICKUPS and watched their set from the side of the stage.
Cliff Burton's father Ray was in attendance for METALLICA's surprise "Kill 'Em All" performance on Saturday.
Detroit native Bob Seger was rumored to be showing up to sing his classic "Turn The Page" with METALLICA. Although the band played the song, Seger was a no-show.

SOUNDGARDEN: 'Slaves & Bulldozers' Performance Clip From 'Live From The Artist's Den'
 SOUNDGARDEN's appearance on the PBS concert program "Live From The Artist's Den" premiered the week of July 11. A crew from the Emmy-nominated series filmed SOUNDGARDEN's February 17 concert at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, the last gig of a three-night stand there, with that night's set featuring 28 songs from all eras of the band's career.
A performance clip of the song "Slaves & Bulldozers", which wasn't aired as part of the SOUNDGARDEN episode of "Live From The Artist's Den", can be seen below.
Season 6 of "Live From The Artists Den", which pairs world-class musicians with unique venues to create intimate, once-in-a-lifetime concerts, premiered nationwide on American public television the week of July 1.
In front of a rapturous crowd, SOUNDGARDEN interwove brand new songs with classics, radio hits with rarities never before performed for a live audience. Over a varied set, they showcased their history, dazzled with their musicianship and captured the imaginations of everyone in the room.
SOUNDGARDEN has been touring in support of "King Animal", its first album of new material since 1996.
The disc was released last November and features the singles "Been Away Too Long" and "By Crooked Steps". The video for the latter song has been directed by Dave Grohl.
