DIGNITY Signs With FASTBALL MUSIC
 Austrian power metal band DIGNITY will release its new album, "Balance Of Power", in October via Fastball Music/Soulfood. The CD introduces the group's new lead singer, Søren Adamsen (CRYSTAL TEARS, ARTILLERY, INMORIA, TWINSPIRITS, STARRATS) from Denmark.
DIGNITY says: "We are really happy to announce that we joined forces with Fastball Music. Being with a label that believes in our music and that wants to take the next step with us really means a lot to us. For us, this album marks a new era, and our fans can expect an album that is filled to the brim with powerful music, melodic hook lines, virtuosic solo spots and atmospheric parts."
A video for the album's opening track, "Rebel Empire", was filmed last month in Germany, and will be released in early September.

IWRESTLEDABEARONCE: New Song Featuring STEVE VAI Available For Streaming
 Los Angeles-based experimental heavy rock band IWRESTLEDABEARONCE will release its third studio album, "Late For Nothing", on August 6 via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded, mixed and mastered by the group's guitarist/programmer Steven Bradley at the band's home studio in Los Angeles. It also marks IWRESTLEDABEARONCE's first record with their new singer Courtney LaPlante, who joined the band with only a day's notice during last summer's Vans Warped Tour.
Newly recharged with the addition of LaPlante, Bradley and cohorts John Ganey (guitar/programming), Mike "Rickshaw" Martin (bass) and Mikey Montgomery (drums) are set to keep their fans guessing with "Late For Nothing". While the band's signature, avant-garde style is well intact on the new album; their style has progressed immensely. By far their boldest and most accessible release to date, "Late For Nothing" rips and roars with blunt force intensity, incorporating their brain joggling breakdowns with a unique blend of electronics, jazzed-out time signatures and break neck riffage.
"The entire album came together as a result of us wanting to do something different," affirms Bradley. "We didn't want to make another weird IWRESTLEDABEARONCE album or whatever people were expecting. We set out to make something different and better than anything we've ever released. It's a more evolved version of the band. We explored new styles and genres as well — especially in terms of the more spacey, epic, and beautiful parts. It's got the most melodic moments of our career as well as the heaviest."
Featuring the forthcoming, schizophrenic first single "Thunder Chunky", "Late For Nothing" scales the summit of heavy rock/metal with twelve teeth gnashing tracks that find a happy medium between crushing metal and beautifully orchestrated melody. The album's opener, "Thunder Chunky", sets the tone for the album as they slash their way through songs like "Letters To Stallone" that showcases LaPlante's incredible balance of full throttle screams and melodic choruses, and "Carnage Asada", which features a guest solo from the legendary Steve Vai.
IWRESTLEDABEARONCE will head to Europe for a summer run before returning to support the release of "Late For Nothing" in the U.S. on The All Stars Tour 2013 with EVERY TIME I DIE.

INFERNAEON To Release 'The Cancer Within' In August
 Floridian death metallers INFERNAEON will release their new album, "The Cancer Within", on August 27 via Black & Blue Records.
Recorded at Smoke And Mirrors Recordings in Tampa, Florida, "The Cancer Within" was produced, recorded and mastered by James Murphy (TESTAMENT, DEATH, OBITUARY) of Safehouse Production and mixed by Peter Tägtgren (HYPOCRISY, PAIN) of The Abyss in Sweden.
Said Murphy: "This is one of the best death metal albums I've worked on in a long time."

WEST OF HELL: 'Water Of Sorcery' Video Released
 "Water Of Sorcery", the new video from WEST OF HELL, the Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada-based band featuring ZIMMERS HOLE frontman Chris "The Heathen" Valagao, can be seen below. The track comes off the group's full-length debut, "Spiral Empire", which was released in May 2012 via Reversed Records. The CD was recorded at The Factory Studios in Vancouver and was produced by Juno Award-winning engineer Rob Shallcross (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, GWAR, ZIMMERS HOLE, FEAR FACTORY).
According to a press release, "Spiral Empire" features "a unique sound that preserves the band's legendary, distinctive influences whilst incorporating modern elements, creating a one-of-a-kind listening experience."
WEST OF HELL was formed in 2002 in West Auckland, New Zealand by guitarist Ivan Vrdoljak and drummer Andrew Hulme. A short time later, friends of the pair finally directed them to guitarist Sean Parkinson (ex-SINATE). Parkinson established an instant chemistry with Vrdoljak and Hulme, driving the trio to immediately begin working, writing songs, and forging their trademark sound. Then, after two years of painstaking searches and monitoring the grapevine, the band was led to bassist Jordan Kemp.
With the instrumental portion of the band locked down, all that was left to be discovered was the perfect frontman. Having searched without success for perfect vocalist locally, the band decided to continue the hunt in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, and uprooted to the area in 2009. In order to share their vision and establish WEST OF HELL in a larger scene, they needed a singer that was more than just a screamer, which drastically narrowed the possibilities. The band played a series of shows as a four-piece instrumental, drawing critical acclaim, and ultimately attracted the attention of the local metal community. The exposure led them to Valagao. It was apparent to the founding members that Valagao's diverse skills were exactly what WEST OF HELL needed to realize the band's ultimate vision.
WEST OF HELL will head out on a headline tour of Canadian cities beginning July 18. This tour comes after a very successful tour of New Zealand with SINATE. WEST OF HELL plans to release a vlog series throughout the tour, dubbed "Fly On The Wall".

ROB ZOMBIE: Video Footage Of Entire San Bernardino Concert
 Fan-filmed video footage of ROB ZOMBIE's entire June 29 concert at San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California as part of this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival can be seen below.
Rob Zombie's fifth album, "Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor", sold 34,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 7 on The Billboard 200 chart. The record arrived in stores on April 23 via Zodiac Swan/T-Boy/Ume. The CD was produced by Bob Marlette, who has previously worked with everyone from BLACK SABBATH and ALICE COOPER to WILSON PHILLIPS and LYNYRD SKYNYRD.
Zombie told Artist Direct in an interview that "Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor" could one day make it to the big screen as a Zombie-directed film. The rocker and filmmaker explained, "I think it could. I made it with that in mind. At least in my mind — no one else knows this — I wanted to have a storyline that runs through the record so if someday I wanted to make it into a movie musical like THE WHO's 'Tommy' or 'Quadrophenia', there was a structure to follow. I'm not really talking about what it is because I think it's sort of relevant at this point."

CROWS - The Dying Race Album To Be Reissued; Full Stream Available
 CROWS' origins begin as far back as 1981 in Germany, but it took the band nearly ten years to finally land a record deal. The result, thankfully, was their one and only masterpiece, The Dying Race.
Crows, while championing a melodic power metal style, signed to then German upstart label, Century Media Records, in 1990 and found themselves buried and a bit out of place within the label’s predominantly death metal roster. However, that didn’t stop them from making one of the best power metal records you have probably never heard before.
Crows as a group may not be instantly recognizable, but it's members on the other hand surely went onto bigger things once they disbanded. Vocalist, Leszek “Leo” Szpigiel has fronted SCANNER and MEKONG DELTA, while both drummer Bobby Schottkowski and guitarist Bernd Kost wound up in German thrash powerhouse SODOM. Finally bassist, Frank “Banx” Bankowski, served as the key member of ANGEL DUST throughout that band’s history. Whatever the case may be, Crows seemed to have the deck stacked against them from the onset, but it didn’t prevent The Dying Race from happening – which is the blessing in disguise.
Divebomb Records has stepped in to make sure The Dying Race is never to be forgotten with this special deluxe edition reissue. The liner notes feature new interview with Crows founding member Bobby Schottkowski. Besides containing brand new remastered album audio it also includes seven, band supplied demo tracks (four from their The Legions demo and three of which are unreleased). This is the ultimate edition of a true power metal classic.
The Dying Race will be available on July 9th. In the meantime, a stream of the album can be found below.

JOE SATRIANI, JOE PERRY, MARTY FRIEDMAN Guest On New STEVE HUNTER Album
 Guitar legend Steve Hunter, best known for his work with Alice Cooper, Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, David Lee Roth, Jack Bruce and AEROSMITH, has released a new CD, "The Manhattan Blues Project", featuring an all-star guest lineup. This is Steve's fifth solo album and is a culmination of his love of the blues and New York City mixed with his love of melody and "Tone Poems".
After recording and touring with Alice Cooper in 2011, Steve decided to get off the road to write and record. He thought it would be cool to have some guest players join him and was overjoyed and humbled at the willingness of those he asked to contribute to this project. Many of the guests he had not worked with before and most had a very different style of playing to himself.
There are two cover tunes, but this album is mainly new material written, played and produced by Steve. He was very happy to also include a short composition by his friend Jason Becker, called "Daydream By The Hudson".
"This album has been inside me trying to get out for a long time, I wanted to show the other side of New York, the soulful side plus it also says a lot of what I have always wanted to say on guitar," says Hunter.
Guest players on "The Manhattan Blues Project": Joe Satriani, Tony Levin, Johnny Depp, Joe Perry, Marty Friedman, Michael Lee Firkins, Phil Aaberg, 2Cellos, Tommy Henriksen.
"I am honored to play alongside legendary guitarist Steve Hunter on his stunning new album," says Satriani.
On "The Manhattan Blues Project", Steve goes back to his blues roots in his own unique way. You will hear string arrangements, vocal arrangements, a burst of guitar shredding by the best in the world and echoes of THE BEATLES. The two cover tunes include Steve's instrumental version of Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill", a song he had played the guitars on for the original album version in 1977. The second cover is from one of his favorite artists Marvin Gaye, "What's Going On".

THE KINDRED Signs With SUMERIAN RECORDS
 Sumerian Records has announced the signing of Ottawa, Canada's progressive rock sextet THE KINDRED. Formerly known as TODAY I CAUGHT THE PLAGUE, the band is no stranger to road or studio. They successfully self-financed a full-length disc in 2011, which cultivated tours with bands such as PROTEST THE HERO, DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, PERIPHERY, THE FACELESS, JEFF LOOMIS and SCALE THE SUMMIT. The group's well-proven work ethic and sustainable functionality as a unit speaks for itself on their upcoming release; an album which seamlessly and tastefully blends modern progressive elements, while at times creating tones reminiscent of classic artists such as PINK FLOYD and LED ZEPPELIN.
Due this fall, THE KINDRED's upcoming record was helmed by producer John Paul Peters (PROPAGHANDI, COMEBACK KID). His knowledge and skill, combined with the contribution of several incredible orchestral players, gave the group just the right amount of creative freedom to allow for a whole new level of musical growth.

GHOST: 'Monstrance Clock' Video Released
 "Monstrance Clock", the new video from Swedish occult rockers GHOST, can be seen below. The clip was directed by Rob Semmer and was shot on location at the El Rey in Los Angeles and Webster Hall in New York City. The song comes of GHOST's sophomore album, "Infestissumam", which sold around 14,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 28 on The Billboard 200 chart.
The CD topped the official chart in the group's home country after selling nearly five times as many copies as the No. 2 album, MISS LI's "Wolves".
The release date of "Infestissumam" was reportedly pushed back a week to April 16 after four compact disc manufacturers allegedly refused to print a piece of artwork that was meant for the deluxe version of the new CD. The manufacturers all took issue with the sacrilegious imagery, inspired by the work of Gustave Dore, which showcases what looks like a forest nymph orgy. The controversial art can still be found on both the vinyl and European copies of the "Infestissuman" CD.
GHOST was forced to modify its name in the U.S. to GHOST B.C. for "legal reasons."
Hailing from Linköping, Sweden, GHOST formed in in 2008. They released their heralded debut album, "Opus Eponymous", in 2010. In 2011, GHOST performed at the annual Download festival in the United Kingdom. The band's fanbase began to swell and not long after added some of hard rock's finest to this group. Additionally that year, GHOST took part in the "Defenders Of Faith III" tour with TRIVIUM, IN FLAMES and RISE TO REMAIN. In early 2012, they embarked on their first tour of the United States and later that year shared the stage with MASTODON and OPETH on their "Heritage Hunter Tour" in North America. That summer the band was invited by METALLICA's James Hetfield to perform on the main stage of METALLICA's first annual Orion Music + More festival.

KING DIAMOND in December signed a new three-album worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records.
After a six-year touring hiatus, KING DIAMOND triumphantly returned to the stage in 2012 for European festivals Hellfest and Sweden Rock.
King, 56, whose real name is Kim Bendix Petersen, underwent open-heart triple-bypass surgery in November 2010. He has since completed his cardiac rehabilitation program and has stopped smoking entirely, changed his diet and is getting regular exercise.
In a February 2013 interview with Metal Sucks, King Diamond stated: "I had to change my diet and become a nutritional expert, eat much better food. I stopped smoking; haven't had a drag. [My wife] Livia quit, too. We walk at least five days a week.
"I felt the benefits during two shows we did [last year]. My voice is now clearer than when I started singing. It was like always driving a used car and suddenly you have enough money to buy a new car. It felt brand new! That's how my voice feels.
"I breathe different now than I used to. In the past [when we played live], it would been like [makes a gasping noise]. Now I go off stage and start talking to close friends…. I feel like I used to live in a house with ten windows and now I have twenty windows in the house. There's so much I can see and I pay more attention to what I do see.
"My philosophy hasn't changed but I don't take anything for granted."
King Diamond made his long-anticipated return to the stage with his MERCYFUL FATE bandmates Hank Shermann, Timi Hansen and Michael Denner on December 7, 2011 at the second of four intimate shows at the Fillmore in San Francisco as part of METALLICA's week-long celebration of its 30th anniversary as a band for fan club members only.
KING DIAMOND received a Grammy nomination in the "Best Metal Performance" category for the track "Never Ending Hill" off the group's latest album, "Give Me Your Soul … Please".
"Give Me Your Soul ... Please" entered the Swedish national chart at position No. 28. The CD also landed at No. 58 on the Danish chart (the second highest new entry on the chart behind VELVET REVOLVER).
"Give Me Your Soul ... Please" sold 4,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 174 on The Billboard 200 chart.

WITHERSCAPE: 'Dead For A Day' Lyric Video Released
 WITHERSCAPE, the stunning new dark metal outfit formed by Swedish singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer extraordinaire Dan Swanö together with fellow Swedish multi-instrumentalist Ragnar Widerberg, will release its debut album, "The Inheritance", on July 29 in Europe and August 6 in North America via Century Media Records.

Commented Swanö: "'Dead For A Day' is one of those songs that just wrote itself. I was strumming on the acoustic guitar one morning and it just poured out of my fingers.
"At first, I had no idea what to do with the song since I felt it was perhaps a bit too commercial for WITHERSCAPE, but after I played the demo to Ragnar, he insisted that it must be on the album!
"I love how the song moves between the mellow verses à la 'Crimson I' and 'II' to the more brutal, yet melodic chorus, in the tradition of 'Uncreation' and 'Twilight' through the groovy but 'undanceable' 9/8 section that leads to one of Ragnar's best guitar leads of the album."
"The Inheritance" is a pretty thick concept album split into different episodes and very briefly, the WITHERSCAPE story takes place in a remote village in northern Sweden in the late 1800's. The central character lives in Stockholm and comes from wealth, and upon the death of his family he's informed by the family lawyer that he has inherited a large estate up north. Having been oblivious to the estate's existence, he decides to investigate, and once he's there "all kinds of weird shit happens," according to Dan Swanö.
The hauntingly beautiful cover artwork for "The Inheritance", which can be seen above, was created by Travis Smith of Seempieces, who has previously worked with such bands as OPETH, NEVERMORE, DEATH and KATATONIA.
Swanö staes: "Both me and Ragnar are fascinated by old, abandoned buildings and it was pretty clear from the start that we would have the estate our main character inherits on the albumcover. We used Travis Smith as a 'medium' for our visual ideas and he did a spectacular job transforming our written wishes into a real image."
WITHERSCAPE marks the long overdue return as active composer and recording artist for Dan Swanö in the world of extreme metal, after having mostly been involved on the studio mixing end of things in these past years. Granted, "The Inheritance" is not purely a death metal release, but it smoothly showcases both the heavier and the mellow sides of Swanö's creativity and should consequently not only please fans of his earlier efforts like "Moontower" or the EDGE OF SANITY catalogue, but also attract friends of progressively atmospheric contemporary metal in the vein of OPET, KATATONIA and AMORPHIS.
According to Swanö, WITHERSCAPE has been in planning for a long time, spawned as a result of his working relationship with Widerberg, which began at a Swedish music store. The two multi-instrumentalists discovered that they had so much in common musically that brainstorming for a full-on metal project of their own was the next logical step. Widerberg cites acts like early JUDAS PRIEST, RUSH, KING CRIMSON and MERCYFUL FATE as far as his inspirations in regards to WITHERSCAPE and Swanö elaborates his list to also include JUDAS PRIEST (1975-1989), VOIVOD, QUEENSRŸCHE, RUSH, MARILLION and MERCYFUL FATE.
Most dedicated metalheads will not only be able to call themselves owners of certain releases by one Dan's many outstanding bands/projects (EDGE OF SANITY, NIGHTINGALE), but also the work at his own Unisound studio will surely have left a mark in everyone's record collection at some point: OPETH, KATATONIA, DISSECTION, MERCILESS, 59 TIMES THE PAIN, DARK FUNERAL, HAIL OF BULLETS, MARDUK, MILLENCOLIN and NASUM, to name but a few.
Swanö has been no stranger to Century Media Records: He was originally involved with the death metal supergroup BLOODBATH (also featuring members of OPETH and KATATONIA), who released the "Breeding Death" EP as well as the amazing first two albums, "Resurrection Through Carnage" and "Nightmares Made Flesh", via Century Media. Most recently, Swanö has been heavily working again as producer and mixer of albums, including releases by Century Media artists such as ASPHYX, GRAND SUPREME BLOOD COURT, ODDLAND and MORGOTH.

Comments the band: "We're extremely proud of the final result. We feel we took the best decision using Javi from Moontower Studios for the mixing 'cause he knew what we wanted in every moment; his experience was essential. But the work made by Dan Swanö at Unisound Studios on the mastering which in fact wasn't a typical mastering, but kind of a second mix, was what definitely gave this new album an incredibly heavy, thick and organic sound. We never sounds so fucking crushing!! This is easily the best AVULSED album, not only production-wise, but also the own songs and the great cover artwork, of course!!".
A new song will be revealed in the coming days via the band's official Facebook. In the meantime, the band has organized a special listening party on Friday, July 19 at the Tyrant metal pub in Madrid.
The band is preparing very special packs both on CD and 12-inch LP (gatefold) formats contaning lots of stuff like exclusive shirt, signed photocard, patch, sticker, badge, guitar pick, exclusive card, poster, etc... limited to 100 units that will be available for preorder in early August exclusively through the Xtreem Music online shop.

THE KENNEDY VEIL Drummer To Tour With DECREPIT BIRTH
 Drummer Gabe Seeber (pictured below) of Sacramento's fast-rising death metal juggernaut THE KENNEDY VEIL will be sitting behind the kit for tech-death heavy hitters DECREPIT BIRTH during their entire "Hell In July" tour run with SIX FEET UNDER and CANNABIS CORPSE. With THE KENNEDY VEIL being midway through recording its debut full-length and only bass and vocal tracking remaining, Gabe had the time and availability to hit the road while the rest of the band returns to the studio to wrap up the recording process for "Trinity Of Falsehood".
DECREPIT BIRTH stated the following via its Facebook page: "We are pleased to announce that drummer Gabe Seeber will be filling in for us during our upcoming tour and and headline festival this July! Due to having such a short amount of time to learn our material, our set at the Homeless One festival will be a bit shorter than expected, but we still promise give you all our absolute best!!! A HUGE thank you to Gabe for busting his ass to keep us going with such short notice!!!"
Recording sessions for "Trinity Of Falsehood" officially got underway in June, with Gabe traveling out to NB Recording in Santa Rosa, California to lay down drum tracks with producer/engineer Nick Botelho. Multi-camera video footage was captured, and studio video updates will eventually make their way online once the band wraps up recording sessions later this month.
