DAYLIGHT DIES Completes Recording New Album
 North Carolina's DAYLIGHT DIES has completed the recording process for its fourth full-length album. The CD will be mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden beginning on April 1. The band states, "Jens was also responsible for mixing 'Lost To The Living' and 'Dismantling Devotion' and we couldn’t imagine the new album being in more capable hands."
As previously reported, DAYLIGHT DIES's new material is its most varied yet, due in part to bassist Egan O'Rourke's "significant songwriting contributions" this time around.
DAYLIGHT DIES played three shows in Europe in December — including at the third edition of the Madrid Is The Dark festival on December 8-10 at the Old School venue in Getafe, Spain.
DAYLIGHT DIES's latest album, "Lost To The Living", was released in the U.S. in June 2008 via Candlelight Records. The CD features captivatingly dark original artwork from renowned artist Travis Smith, who has worked with the band before and whose other previous collaborations include OPETH, ANATHEMA and KATATONIA.

AFTERBLOOD: Another New Song Available For Streaming
 "Beyond", another new song from the Greek female-fronted modern thrash/death metallers AFTERBLOOD, can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. The track comes off the band's debut album, "Of Unsound Minds", which will be released later in the year. The CD was recorded at Dungeon Studios in Athens and it was produced, mixed and mastered by Waldemar Sorychta (GRIP INC., ENEMY OF THE SUN).
"Of Unsound Minds" features guest appearances by Thomas "Angelripper" Such (SODOM), Antony Hämäläinen (NIGHTRAGE) and Waldemar Sorychta. Markus Freiwald (SODOM) played drums on the entire album, under the guidance of Sorychta.

'Great Gypsy Soul' Tribute To Late DEEP PURPLE Guitarist TOMMY BOLIN: Audio Samples Available
 In the annals of rock history, Tommy Bolin occupied a brief, but shining stint as a brilliant guitarist who wowed those in the know with his mastery of many genres —rock, fusion, funk, reggae and heavy metal among others. Along with a much-lauded solo career that, pushed the boundaries of rock/jazz fusion, Bolin played with THE JAMES GANG and DEEP PURPLE, which set him up for major solo guitar stardom which was cut short by his untimely death in 1976.
Not to be overlooked, there's been much written about the guitar wunderkind and now a top notch roster of players have signed on to pay tribute to Bolin on "Great Gypsy Soul". Produced by Greg Hampton and Warren Haynes, it's a remarkable project that brings together major players who actually perform alongside Tommy Bolin's playing and vocals from the recording outtakes to his solo debut album "Teaser". Peter Frampton, Warren Haynes (a key supporter of the project), Nels Cline, Steve Lukather, Steve Morse, Brad Whitford, Joe Bonamassa, John Scofield, Derek Trucks, Glenn Hughes and Myles Kennedy all contribute to this amazing project.
"Great Gypsy Soul" will be released on 429 Records on March 27 in both a single CD format and double CD with bonus tracks. A series of promotional concerts are also in the works.
Tommy Bolin was the quintessential guitar prodigy who focused his talents within the burgeoning rock/metal scenes of the early '70s as well as mastered a highly lauded jazz fusion technique, catching the attention of rock tastemakers and guitar legend peers. It was just a matter of time before Bolin was making a name for himself playing on projects as diverse as Billy Cobham's "Spectrum" project (considered one of the great jazz fusion recordings of all time), replacing Joe Walsh in THE JAMES GANG, playing session work on seminal fusion projects by MOXY and ALPHONSE MOUZON, to replacing Ritchie Blackmore in DEEP PURPLE. With the release of his second solo album, "Private Eyes", what should have been a red letter moment for Bolin, opening up for Jeff Beck in Miami, sadly turned tragic as Bolin was found dead of an overdose shortly after the gig.
Says Warren Haynes: "Many of the guests added after the fact have a close personal connection to Tommy — all share in acknowledging his place in rock history. Watching (and hearing) it all come to fruition some 35 years later was a journey of its own — well worth the travel."

ENTOMBED Signs With NINETONE RECORDS
 Stockholm, Sweden-based label Threeman Recordings, which is owned and run by members of ENTOMBED, has launched a new collaboration with Ninetone Records. More informatiom about the first release from this new association will follow soon.
ENTOMBED's latest album, "Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments", was released in the U.S. on July 31, 2007 via Candlelight/Threeman Recordings. The 10-song effort marked the group's first release with drummer Olle Dahlstedt (ALPHA SAFARI, ex-MISERY LOVES CO.), who replaced Peter Stjärnvind in 2006. Mastering duties were handled by Soren Elofsson at Cosmos Mastering in Stockholm, Sweden.
"Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments" entered the Swedish national chart at position No. 3. This was the highest chart position in the band's career.
The current lineup of ENTOMBED features Victor Brandt (TOTALT JÄVLA MÖRKER, AEON, SATYRICON) and second guitarist Nico Elgstrand (who previously played bass for the group).
In a May 2011 interview with the Stormbringer.at webzine, ENTOMBED guitarist Alex Hellid stated about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the long-awaited follow-up to "Serpent Saints", "We're just taking our time getting the pieces together properly this time. We just wanna make sure that it's a really good album. Now we have a complete lineup again also, and a lot of fresh, new blood as well. So it's gonna be fun to create something new now. . . We wanna get the group together and get a strong foundation to create something good; that's the goal here. . . We'll just concentrate on [creating] something great."
He added, "I [try not] to focus on too much at the same time. [My attitude] is 'Let's just make one great song to start with,' and then we'll take it from there. . . We have a pretty broad palette of things we can do, and we'll try and find a place for anything. 'Cause we enjoy everything from the fastest death/black metal stuff to whatever, so the songs that we come up with, we'll just have to find a space for them — some stuff might be [releases as] an album, some stuff might be a single…"
He continued, "I think it's kind of boring, in a way, to just think in terms of a full-length] 'album,' especially when nobody seems to really create classic albums anymore, and a lot of people don't even buy them anymore. If wanna record our favorite cover songs, there should be a place for that as well.
"It's been four years [since the last album came out] and I feel that we have so much creativity in the band and so many things that we can all put under this roof of things that we like collectively. And what I wanna do is for us to find a way to channel all our creativity and also make it the best and the greatest it can be."

 MINISTRY Mastermind Al Jourgensen gab in einem Interview bekannt, dass nach der Veröffentlichung des Comeback Albums „Relapse“ am 30. März und der darauf folgenden Tour auch schon wieder Schluss sei. Für die Aufnahme dieses letzten Albums zeichnet sich Gitarrist Mike Scaccia verantwortlich der Al Jourgensen dazu überreden konnte.

"Ich bin froh es gemacht zu haben und ich bin froh, dass Mikey mich dazu überredet hat“. Außerdem haben MINISTRY Fans nicht zu befürchten, dass das neue Album von Al Jourgensens Heavy Western-Nebenprojekt BUCK SATAN AND THE 666 SHOOTERS beeinflusst wurde. „Es ist ein ziemlich cooles Album und es wird nicht einen einzigen MINISTRY-Fan oder Hardcore-Fan enttäuschen".

AEROSMITH Recording New Version Of \'Legendary Child\' For Inclusion In GI Joe: Retaliation Film
 AEROSMITH are working on a new version of the song 'Legendary Child'. Originally written during the sessions for the band's album, Get A Grip, the track will now be included on the soundtrack for the upcoming movie GI Joe: Retaliation, which hits theaters on June 29th. The new version of the song could possibly appear on Aerosmith's new studio album, out later this year.
On March 9th, last year's American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina revealed that she will be a guest on Aerosmith new album, that the band are currently completing with long-time producer Jack Douglas.
Alaina tweeted: "Yesterday: returned to Idol and then went to the studio to record background vocals for the new Aerosmith record. #ISTHISREAL?Thank u Steven!"

CANDLEMASS: New Album Title, Cover Artwork Revealed
 Legendary Swedish doom metallers CANDLEMASS will release their 11th and final album, "Psalms For The Dead", in June via Napalm Records. A limited-edition seven-inch vinyl single contaning two album tracks —"Dancing In The Temple Of The Mad Queen Bee" and "The Killing Of The Sun" — will precede the full-length effort on April 13.
"This record represents everything that is CANDLEMASS," the band's bassist and main songwriter Leif Edling states. "It is big, fat, epic and heavy, and it’s also metal as fuck! We couldn't have done a better album! It's our last one and we put just all we had into it. 'Psalms For The Dead' is an album about the presence and absence of time, false prophets and inner demons....hymns, regret and farewell. Let there be doom!"
Other songtitles set to appear on the effort include "Prophet", "Sadness Run Deep" and "Water Witch".

Despite the fact that "Psalms For The Dead" is being billed as CANDLEMASS' final studio album, Edling told Terrorizer magazine in a recent interview that the group is not planning on hanging it up anytime soon.
"We're not splitting up," he said. "Yes, this is to be our last album, but we don't plan to disappear from the scene for quite awhile. We will tour this year, hopefully the next one as well, and then there's our upcoming 30th anniversary. So plenty more doom to come! It's just that we want to stop before we get too old and start putting out half-lame albums. Instead, we'll slowly fade away into the sunset with our dignity intact. We're not young anymore. Actually, some of the stuff I've been writing for this album ism in fact, about saying goodbye. It's a bit psalm-like in parts and has got a big epic vibe."
He added, "I have got a very good feeling about this album. It's so metal, so heavy, so doomy, so epic.. It's fucking colossal! I think this will turn out as good as [2009's] 'Death Magic Doom', something I thought would be impossible."
CANDLEMASS celebrated its 25-year anniversary by performing an extra-long, two-and-a-half-hour set at Debaser Medis in Stockholm on December 18, 2010. The band's classic debut album, "Epicus Doomicus Metalicus", was played in its entirety for the first time with the original singer Johan Längqvist.
CANDLEMASS released a new DVD, "Ashes To Ashes - Live", in North America on June 29, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records (April 23, 2010 in Europe). The set contains footage of the band's performance at Sweden Rock Festival in front of 30,000 people as well as CANDLEMASS' entire October 2009 concert in Athens, Greece. It also includes a 30-minute interview and two photo galleries. The DVD was released as a CD+DVD, with the Sweden Rock show as the audio CD.
"Death Magic Doom", the last album from CANDLEMASS, debuted at No. 79 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
"Death Magic Doom" entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 52. The group's previous CD, "King of the Grey Islands", debuted at No. 83 back in June 2007.

MORTAD To Enter Studio In November
 London, England-based, female-fronted metallers MORTAD will enter the studio in November with producer Russ Russell (NAPALM DEATH, DIMMU BORGIR, EVILE) to begin recording their sophomore album for a 2013 release.
MORTAD's debut CD, "The Myth Of Purity", was made available last month with the February 2012 issue of Metal Hammer magazine and will receive a more "official" release later in the year. The album was recorded last October with Russ Russell.

MORTAD was formed in 2009 by Iranian vocalist Somi Arian , whose lyrics take aim at the hypocrisy of religion and the government as well as seeking inner truth and strength in the face of such oppression.
MORTAD released a music video and an EP, entitled "Pandemic Paranoia", in early 2011. This effort brought the band immense attention on the social media sites, placing the group as the No. 1 metal band on ReverbNation London metal chart, and attracting over 40,000 Facebook fans.
MORTAD's new video, "Waste Of My Rage", can be seen below. The clip was sponsored by the Alchemy apparel clothing brand and produced by the Manchester-based video production company Video Ink. More than a dozen actors were cast for the video, including Collette Von Tora, who agreed to have her head shaved for this video shoot.

GOLDEN RESURRECTION Parts Ways With Drummer, Keyboardist
 Swedish melodic metallers GOLDEN RESURRECTION have parted ways with drummer Rickard Gustafsson and keyboardist Kenneth Lillqvist and are currently seeking replacements.
"Man With A Mission", the latest video from GOLDEN RESURRECTION, can be seen below. The song is the title cut of the band's second album, "Man With A Mission", which was released last October.
GOLDEN RESURRECTION vocalist Christian Liljegren's rock-star dream began in his room as a child while living in Habo, a small village in the south of Sweden.
"YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, EUROPE and others were the musical heroes in my teens," he said. "They are still big influences in my music. Their breakthrough in Japan was huge and I dreamed about my own success in Japan."
In 1997, Christian's dream came true when his band NARNIA signed a deal with Pony Canyon in Japan — the same label as YNGWIE MALMSTEEN.
Since then, over 15 releases in the Japanese market have sprung from Christian's own record label from such bands as GOLDEN RESURRECTION, DIVINEFIRE, NARNIA and AUDIOVISION.
As the lead singer for some of these acts, Christian's relationship with the record companies and media in Japan has become close. Several tours in Japan have opened up doors for his musical career.
In 2008 Liljegren joined forces with Tommy Johansson, a 20-year-old super-talented vocalist and guitar hero. Both shared a big passion for melodic neoclassical metal and GOLDEN RESURRECTION was born.

HOUWITSER Parts Ways With Bassist, Seeks Replacement
 After a five-year tenure with Dutch death metal veterans HOUWITSER, bassist Ramon Ploeg has left the band. He states, "I can't combine the band with my jobs anymore. Thanks to everyone who supported me and I've met in the last years! It was a great time! I wish all the guys of HOUWITSER all the best!"
HOUWITSER is currently seeking a replacement. The remaining members of the group say, "The bass player HOUWITSER is looking for must be experienced with live shows, have his own gear and can practice once a week in Zoetermeer. HOUWITSER is writing new material for their sixth CD and Doomstar is booking shows/festivals for the summer onto the end of this year. HOUWITSER was recently rejoined by its original singer Mike van Mastrigt. In addition, the group recruited Marten van Kruijssen (DICTATED, NIBIRUS) as its new drummer.

HOUWITSER's fifth album, "Bestial Atrocity", was released in 2010 via Sevared Records.

ANGELUS APATRIDA: New Song Available For Streaming
 "You Are Next", a brand new song from Spanish thrashers ANGELUS APATRIDA, can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. The track comes off the band's new studio album, "The Call", which will be released on April 30 via Century Media Records. The CD was once again recorded at Ultrasound Studio in Moita, Portugal with producer Daniel Cardoso (ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN, ANATHEMA). The artwork was handled by Gustavo Sazes of Abstrata (ARCH ENEMY, KRISIUN).
Commented the band: "We think that 'The Call' is a record that represents the wide variety of styles and elements in our music extremely well; every song stands alone strong and unique in its own way, making the album a whole piece that needs to be heard completely to get the full idea of the sound of the band. STEVEN ADLER Joins Forces With LYNAM's JACOB BUNTON In ADLER
 Former GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler has joined forces with Lonny Paul (ADLER'S APPETITE) and Jacob Bunton (LYNAM, MARS ELECTRIC) in a brand new band simply called ADLER. The group has completed eight songs for its debut album, which will feature a guest appearance by Adler's former GUNS N' ROSES bandmate Slash. The Los Angeles recording sessions are being helmed by producers Jeff Pilson (former DOKKEN and current FOREIGNER/TOOTH AND NAIL bassist) and Jay Ruston (ANTHRAX, STEEL PANTHER, ADRENALINE MOB).
"I love the music that we're creating!" states Adler. "I haven't been this excited about my band since the GN'R days. Jacob is exactly the singer I have been searching for. He has an amazing range and is a great writer and frontman. Lonny is an amazing guitarist and songwriter and the vibe is amazing!" He added, "I'm so excited for everyone to hear this record!"
Steven spent the past several years touring and recording with ADLER'S APPETITE, which played original material alongside cover versions of songs from GUNS' classic debut album, "Appetite For Destruction".
In 2010, Adler collaborated with Slash on the latter's self-titled debut solo album. He appeared on the track "Baby Can't Drive", along with RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea, Alice Cooper and Nicole Scherzinger. The song was featured on an expanded edition of the album released by Classic Rock magazine.
Adler, Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, singer Axl Rose and guitarist Izzy Stradlin will all be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame next month in Cleveland, along with later GUNS N' ROSES members, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and drummer Matt Sorum.

 NEKROFEIST, the controversial and outspoken Australian groove/thrash metal outfit whose frontman, Dave Tinelt, was recently recruited by thrash veterans MORTAL SIN, is working on its debut album, "Without Reserve Or Regret", with producer Darren "jENK" Jenkins.
NEKROFEIST is funding the recording sessions independently and will seek a suitable label to release the CD once the effort has been completed.
A five-minute video clip featuring footage from the studio can be seen below. Featured in the video is a surprise phone call the band received from Australian comedy legend Rodney Rude.
NEKROFEIST lead vocalist and band founder Dave Tinelt is renowned for his broad, powerful, stentorian-like vocal abilities. Whether smooth and clean or throaty and aggressive, Dave has an incredible depth and tone to his voice, and is proud to present these varied qualities in the forefront of NEKROFEIST's music. THIS IS HELL: 'Demons' Video Released
 "Demons", the new Michael Tucci-directed video from Long Island-based hardcore metal veterans THIS IS HELL, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's fourth studio album, "Black Mass", which came out last October via Rise Records. The follow-up to 2010's "Weight Of The World" was recorded earlier this summer at Killingsworth Studio in Valley Village, California with producer Tomas Costanza.
Commented guitarist Rick Jimenez, "In the downtime we just recently had, we blasted through a video for 'Demons' from the 'Black Mass' album. The song is fast, raw and thrashy, so the video is fast, raw and thrashy, and it's us just doing our thing in the practice space."

Jimenez previously stated about "Black Mass": "The new album takes the crossover and metal influences from last album to much greater extremes and the end product was 'Black Mass', by far the heaviest and thrashiest songs we've written and recorded. Lyrically, this album touches on issues we haven't dove into before. Social injustice as a whole is a recurring theme. Persistence and empowerment are familiar themes with us that I've revisited, but with an even more aggressive outlook than before."
He added, "The artwork was done by Will Blood, an amazing English illustrator/artist that we've worked with on shirts and designs before. The concept came from some lyrics and underlying themes from the album and Will really took the ball and ran with it. Whether someone takes the art at sheer superficial face value, or really absorbs the details and subtleties of it, it's an extremely powerful piece of artwork. I feel the same way about the music and especially the lyrics on this new record."
THIS IS HELL has announced a new string of U.S. tour dates in support of "Black Mass". The trek will kick off tomorrow night in Schenectady, New York before wrapping up at the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival in Worcester, Massaschusetts on April 20.

FATES WARNING Singer: We Are Working As Hard As We Can To Finish The New Album
 U.S. progressive metal icons FATES WARNING are working on material for their next album, which they hope to release before the end of 2012.
In a brand new interview with Bulgaria's Tangra Mega Rock, FATES WARNING singer Ray Alder stated about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the new CD, "We're trying as hard as we can. We have these shows [in Europe] and then we go to Brazil in April. And in the meantime we are working as hard as we can to finish the album. Hopefully we'll have it out by the end of this year, If not, the beginning of next year. We're trying our best."
He added, "We need to finish writing right now. We finished the first song. The demo version is already done. We'll continue writing as we have a lot of ideas that we need to put together. But the first song is done and I can tell you it's seven minutes long. The recording process itself usually takes about two months and then after that it's another three more months before the album is released. So, we are talking five months out there after the album has been written."

SUICIDAL ANGELS: 'Bloodbath' Video Released
 "Bloodbath", the new video from Greek old-school thrashers SUICIDAL ANGELS, can be seen below. The song is the title track of the band's new album, which was released on January 27 via NoiseArt Records. The CD features cover artwork by Ed Repka, who has previously worked with MEGADETH and DEATH, and who was responsible for the cover to last year's "Dead Again".
"Bloodbath" was recorded at Prophecy & Music Factory Studios in Kempten, Germany with Greek producer Roberto Dimitri Liapakis, who helmed SUICIDAL ANGELS' last CD and is said to "know better than anyone else which sound the group is looking for."
SUICIDAL ANGELS recently took part in the "Full Of Hate" tour alongside BEHEMOTH, CANNIBAL CORPSE, LEGION OF THE DAMNED and MISERY INDEX.

NIGHTWISH will release a special "tour edition" of "Imaginaerum", on April 13 via Nuclear Blast Records. It will be a 2CD+DVD digibook in slipcase.

 The official lyric video for "Rise Of The Maya Warriors", a brand new song from legendary Swedish viking/death masters UNLEASHED, can be seen below. The track comes off the band's new album, "Odalheim", which will be released on April 20 in Europe and April 24 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was produced by Fredrik Folkare and recorded in at Chrome Studios in Sweden.

IRON MAIDEN: 'En Vivo!' Double Vinyl Picture Disc Packaging Unveiled
 A photo of the double vinyl picture disc version of "En Vivo!", the new concert Blu-Ray, two-DVD set and double soundtrack album from legendary British metallers IRON MAIDEN, can be seen below.
Due on March 26 via EMI, "En Vivo!" was filmed on April 10, 2011 in front of over 50,000 ecstatic fans at the Estadio Nacional, Santiago during the "Round The World In 66 Days" leg of "The Final Frontier World Tour", and captures a magnificent performance by the band, ardently embraced by the legendary Latino passion and energy of their Chilean fans. With spectacular stage backdrops, dynamic musicianship and a literally jaw-dropping appearance by Eddie, this live show encapsulates to perfection the heart and soul of IRON MAIDEN 2011.
IRON MAIDEN bass player and founder member Steve Harris comments: "For 'The Final Frontier Tour' it was really important to me that we filmed in South America as we're always so overwhelmed by the fans' reaction when we go to that part of the world and I wanted to reflect that in the filming. After much consideration, we chose the Santiago show as we felt it was one of our best performances of the entire tour and to play at the prestigious Estadio Nacional was a landmark moment for us. For reasons known to our fans, it took a long time before we got to play our first show in Chile, and once we did get to play a show, the response was so phenomenal we just had to keep coming back and it's got better and better each time! This show also features the gigantic new Eddie. He wasn't due to make his appearance until our European leg of the tour later in 2011, but we managed to transport him across the sea in a special huge container just in time for the latter end of the South American dates so it was great we were able to immortalize him for the DVD as he really has to be seen to be believed!"
The concert was filmed digitally using 22 HD cameras and an octocam (a flying camera which captures aerial crowd scenes), recorded in both stereo and 5.1 audio and mixed by MAIDEN's longstanding producer Kevin "Caveman" Shirley, all of which serves to accentuate the incredible atmosphere of this compelling performance. Extensive use is made of split screens so fans can follow the individual members closer and the set list moves seamlessly between songs from MAIDEN's most recent studio album, 2010's "The Final Frontier", through to classic fan favourites via the band's vast and varied catalogue (full set listing below).
DVD Disc Two is a bonus disc containing an 88-minute documentary, "Behind The Beast". This is also an entirely in-house production by MAIDEN's own Krew, led by Andy Matthews, and is intended as an interesting and revealing high-quality "home movie" for their fans of how to put on an IRON MAIDEN tour and what goes on behind the scenes at a show. It describes the extraordinary story of one of the most acclaimed and ambitious touring shows in the world. It illustrates the day-to-day life and complex tasks of the MAIDEN Killer Krew and the other characters behind the scenes. The expertise and experience, the problem-solving and successes, the sheer scale and immense difficulties of the undertaking comes to life through the day-to-day coverage of the tour and the background work of the crews in sound, lighting, carpentry, production and set design. GUNS N' ROSES Rejoined By Former Guitarist At West Hollywood Show; Video Available
 Ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Robin Finck rejoined his bandmates on stage this past Monday night (March 12) at the House of Blues Sunset in West Hollywood, California to perform the song "Better". Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.
Finck left GUNS N' ROSES in early 2009 to rejoin NINE INCH NAILS and was replaced by DJ Ashba.
Robin "continues to be part of GN'R, by virtue of GUNS' history and his involvement in 'Chinese Democracy'," GUNS N' ROSES said in a March 2009 press release announcing Ashba's addition to the group.
In addition to sole original member Axl Rose, the current lineup of GUNS N' ROSES includes guitarists Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, Richard Fortus and DJ Ashba, bassist Tommy Stinson, keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman and drummer Frank Ferrer.
"Chinese Democracy", the 2008 album released by the current edition of GUNS N' ROSES after a 15-year wait, was officially certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on February 3, 2009 for shipments in the United States in excess of one million copies. The long-in-the-making, 14-song CD finally arrived 17 years after the last full-length collections of original GUNS material, "Use Your Illusion I" and "II", were released, and nine years after the non-album track "Oh My God" surfaced on the soundtrack of the movie "End Of Days".
"Chinese Democracy" was made available exclusively through Best Buy.
The original five-piece group, along with drummer Matt Sorum and keyboardist Dizzy Reed, will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland on April 14.

ACEY SLADE's THE DARK PARTY Signs With DEADLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT
 THE DARK PARTY, the band led by notorious rock musician Acey Slade (JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS, ex-DOPE, MURDERDOLLS, WEDNESDAY 13), has inked a deal with French label Deadlight Entertainment. The group's self-titled album will be released later in the year.

SLASH To Guest On STEVEN ADLER's New Album
 Legendary guitarist Slash has revealed via Twitter that he will reunite with his onetime GUNS N' ROSES bandmate Steven Adler to "lay down some guitars" for a song on the drummer's new album. The session is scheduled to take place tonight (Thursday, March 15) at a studio in Los Angeles.
In 2010, Adler collaborated with Slash on the latter's self-titled debut solo album, which scored the highest new entry on The Billboard 200 chart, with first-week U.S. sales of around 60,000 copies. He appeared on the track "Baby Can't Drive", along with RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea, Alice Cooper and Nicole Scherzinger. The song was featured on an expanded edition of the album released by Classic Rock magazine.
Slash, Adler, bassist Duff McKagan, singer Axl Rose and guitarist Izzy Stradlin will all be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame next month in Cleveland, along with later GUNS N' ROSES members, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and drummer Matt Sorum.
Adler revealed last year that he was working on "an original band" with ADLER'S APPETITE guitarist Michael Thomas and Lonnie Johnson. He added, "Our first single has one of the hottest new singers in the game right now on vocals. Hint: his band's initials are just like mine — AA." [Presumably referring to ASKING ALEXANDRIA. — Ed.]

While with EDEN'S CURSE and supporting STRATOVARIOUS and FIREWIND in May 2009 on their U.K. tour, Pete and then-FIREWIND drummer Mark Cross became close friends and discussed the idea of forming a new band, only this time with Newdeck as the lead singer.
Newdeck's vocal abilities were truly convincing and in the spring of 2010, Pontus Egberg, bass player for Swedish hard rockers THE POODLES, completed the lineup.
Newdeck, Nash, Cross and Egberg recorded the TAINTED NATION debut album in the U.K. and mixed and mastered it in Germany under the supervision of Dennis Ward, producer of many successful international artists.

SMILE EMPTY SOUL Signs With eOne Music
 Los Angeles-based rock trio SMILE EMPTY SOUL has signed a worldwide deal with eOne Music. The band's follow-up to 2010's "More Anxiety", entitled "3's", is scheduled for release on May 22.

A LIFE ONCE LOST To Enter Studio Next Month
 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's A LIFE ONCE LOST will enter Planet Red studios in Richmond, Virginia on April 10 with producer Andreas Magnusson (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, IMPENDING DOOM) to record the long-awaited follow-up to the band's 2007 album "Iron Gag".
A LIFE ONCE LOST has been experimenting with new sounds and styles while staying true to their groove-tinged roots, promising to appeal to old and new fans alike.
"I have a lot of new material to work with here so it will be a breeze for us to make a super epic record," states Magnusson.

CRYSTAL VIPER To Release 'Witch's Mark' Digital Single
 Polish female-fronted traditional heavy metal act CRYSTAL VIPER will release a new two-song digital single, "Witch's Mark", on March 30 via AFM Records. The single will include title track (taken from the forthcoming full lenght studio album "Crimen Excepta"), coupled with "The Banshee", a newly recorded version of the song originally available on the limited edition MLP "The Last Axeman" (2008).
"Crimen Excepa" will be released in Europe on April 27 and in the U.S. on April 24 via AFM Records. The concept effort about holy inquisition, black magic and witches, where fiction is mixed with historical facts, was produced by Bart Gabriel (SACRED STEEL, JACK STARR'S BURNING STARR) and recorded with sound engineer Mariusz Pietka (MORTICIAN, LONEWOLF).
"Crimen Excepta" will feature two special guests: David Bower, vocalist of HELL will appear in the title track, while VADER mainman Piotr "Peter" Wiwczarek will be heard in the cover version of the classic VADER song "Tyrani Piekiel", which will be available as the bonus track on the first, limited edition of the album.

"We already announced that fans should expect the unexpected," says CRYSTAL VIPER frontwoman Marta Gabriel. "The new album is different than everything CRYSTAL VIPER did in the past. Of course it's still traditonal metal, and it's still CRYSTAL VIPER — but this time, everything was different, starting from the compositions, through our attitude and inspirations, up to equipment we used and the recording session itself."
She adds, "It was amazing to have Peter in the studio. We all are huge fans of VADER, and I think he was also amazed when he heard how our voices sound together in this heavy metal version of 'Tyrani Piekiel'. And when you will hear the lines of William The Judge recorded by David of HELL, you will have your jaw on the floor. We had."
CRYSTAL VIPER's last album, "Legends", was released in October 2010 via AFM Records. The CD's lyrics were based on the original Polish legends from the middle ages. SHINEDOWN On DC101: Video Interview, Acoustic Performance Available
 Brent Smith of SHINEDOWN recently joined DC101's Roche in studio to talk about the band's new album, "Amaryllis"; Brent's weight loss; and the effects of bullying. In addition, Smith and SHINEDOWN guitarist Zach Myers performed an acoustic version of the band's new song "Bully". Check out the footage below.
Due on March 27, "Amaryllis" follows up the band's biggest success yet, 2008's "The Sound Of Madness".
"Amaryllis" sees SHINEDOWN joining forces once more with multiple Grammy Award-winning producer Rob Cavallo (KID ROCK, GREEN DAY), who previously collaborated with the band on "The Sound Of Madness". Recorded at Cavallo's Lightning Sound studios outside of Los Angeles and a pair of Hollywood landmarks, Ocean Way Recording and Capitol Studios, the album was recently named among "This Year's Best Bets" by Billboard, which noted the inventive addition of synths, a 27-piece orchestra, and a 10-piece horn section to the band's powerful hard rock.
