TOXIC HOLOCAUST: New Song Posted Online
 "Nowhere To Run", a brand new song from TOXIC HOLOCAUST, can be streamed on the band's Facebook page. The track comes off the group's long-awaited new album, "Conjure And Command", which will be released in North America on July 19 (one day earlier internationally) via Relapse Records. The effort will be made available on multiple formats, including digital, CD, 12-inch vinyl, as part of a deluxe double LP package, and a limited-edition deluxe CD and DVD set that includes a full TOXIC HOLOCAUST live set.
The CD is available for pre-order at this location, with additional pre-order options and images of deluxe packaging to be posted shortly.

U.D.O.: Three New Songs Available For Streaming
 U.D.O., the German metal band led by former ACCEPT frontman Udo Dirkschneider, will release its new album, "Rev-Raptor", on May 20 via AFM Records. The effort will be available in the following formats:

OBSCURA Drummer Releases Instructional DVD
 Hannes Grossmann, drummer for progressive metal bands OBSCURA and BLOTTED SCIENCE, has just released his first instructional DVD, "Progressive Concepts For The Modern Metal Drummer", a two-DVD-set that features almost four hours of material. The DVD is available at HannesGrossmann.com.
A six-minute DVD preview clip can be seen below.
Commented Grossman: "The DVD is appropriate for beginners, intermediate and advanced drummers. I wanted to show my specific practice concepts, but also give an insight into combining different styles with death metal drumming — like I do in OBSCURA. So the DVD also features a lot of music performances of OBSCURA, but also others, like Ron Jarzombek. It was a lot of work but I think it was definitely worth it."

RAVENLAND Announces New Female Singer
 Brazilian goth metallers RAVENLAND have recruited Tatiana Berke as their new female vocalist. Berke, 28, was born in São Paulo and has been involved with music since she was 15 years old, singing with cover bands and projects like MELODIC STANZAS (THE GATHERING tribute band), ENVOID, and SUZAN'S LEAF. After being away from the scene for three years, she is back as one of RAVENLAND's members, sharing vocals with Dewindson Wolfheart.
About the new lineup, Dewindson comments: "Her debut with us happened in March, [during] the recording [sessions for the] 'Memories' EP, which will be released soon."

DEFTONES To Begin Work On New Album
 DEFTONES frontman Chino Moreno tells Billboard.com that the band is planning to spend the next few weeks working on material for the follow-up to 2010's "Diamond Eyes".
"We're going to have a month off [from touring], but in that month we're talking about going in and starting to write again, maybe even two or three weeks in a rehearsal spot just recording ideas and keeping it going," he said. "[The process will resume in September] so if all goes well hopefully we'll have some product for early next year."
Regarding what the new DEFTONES material might sound like, Moreno said, "Everyone has their own kind of little recording devices and are putting down ideas, but with a band like us we find that when we actually get together in a rehearsal spot where there's no distractions and we can work together cohesively as a band, that's really when we're writing songs. Even at sound check we'll jam and do things, but it's not like we ever stop and say, 'Okay, let's keep going on this,' because there's so many distractions. So we're not that good at working on the road. When we get home and we actually seclude ourselves in a little room, that's when it will start."
When asked about the status of "Eros", the album DEFTONES was working on with Chi Cheng before the bassist's November 2008 car accident which left him in a semi-conscious state, Moreno said, "We still have yet to even sit down as a band and listen to where it was left. There's a lot of great music on it, I know that, but... there's a lot of emotion and stuff around it, obviously. It'll be something we'll put out just out of the blue, when we feel the time is right, but I don't think that will be any time soon. Right now we're definitely going to write new music and put out a new record before we do that."

COREY TAYLOR: If SLIPKNOT\'s Upcoming Tour Doesn\'t Work, This Band Might Be Over
 SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor was interviewed on the WGRD radio station when STONE SOUR performed at The Deltaplex in Grand Rapids, Michigan on April 27, 2011 during the Avalanche Tour. You can now watch the chat below. A couple of excerpts follow.
On SLIPKNOT's upcoming summer shows, the band's first performances since the passing of bassist Paul Gray:
"Honestly, I've tried to figure out how to prepare for it and there really isn't a way; you just kind of have to prepare yourself for what you're going to do, and the emotions will naturally come.
"Paul's funeral was last [May] and two weeks later I was on the road. So it was pretty heavy duty. I mean, the first time I stepped on stage with any band, it was pretty heavy, and the fans were there. So the emotions are gonna come; you just have to prepare yourself to be able to do what you're gonna do.
"The way that we've been approaching is that it's a celebration of Paul, it's a celebration of his music, it's a celebration of the band that he and [percussionist] Clown started and then we helped make what it is. So, to me, I'm gonna try to keep the positivity as much as possible.
"It's gonna be a little bittersweet at the end of the day. But, you know, for me, this is kind of a baby step towards seeing what's gonna happen later. And nothing is happening immediately; I can tell everyone that. We have no plans for an album, we have no plans to do anything other than this tour at the moment. But if it goes well, if everyone is able to kind of pull together and really do what's right for Paulie, then we'll see what happens."
On why there has been such an inconsistency to the various public statements from all the SLIPKNOT bandmembers regarding the band's future and whether they have sat down to discuss their long-term plans in detail:
"No, that hasn't happened. The only thing we've really sat down together as a band and talked about was the tour, and what we're gonna do and whatnot. But I'm not the guy who's gonna sugarcoat anything, I'm not the one who's gonna spoonfeed false hope to the fans, especially about something like this. If this tour doesn't work, this band might be over — straight up. And I'm not gonna lie; I'm not the guy that's going to lie to the fans. I'm telling people as it is, because people [keep asking me], 'Any U.S. dates?' I'm like, 'Slow down, Beavis. Can we get through this and see what happens?'
"It's still a shock, man. I'm gonna be getting on stage without my brother. So until things make sense for me, I'm not gonna be the cheerleader — I just can't be. First of all, the fans would see through it. Second of all, I would feel terrible being that guy. So as long as I just keep it real and keep it in perspective, we'll see what happens."
On whether he is still in the running to be VELVET REVOLVER's new lead singer:
"No, I'm not VELVET REVOLVER's new lead singer. There's been so much speculation that I think that was one of the reasons that it kind of went away. At the end of the day, we got together, we jammed, some guys were feeling it, some weren't. It is what it is. And the last thing I need is a 12th band. Between writing and recording and writing with other people and writing books and whatnot, I'm set, I'm fine. I'm not losing any sleep about it. Plus I made some great friends."
On his plans for the rest of the year:
"I'm gonna take some well-deserved time off; it will be the first time I've had more than three weeks off in a long time, so I'm pretty stoked about that. And we're actually starting to work on new stuff for a STONE SOUR album — something very grandiose, something that could freak out a lot of people. And if we get to do it, it'll be huge and it'll be everything that anybody has ever wanted us to do."

SEPULTURA: New Album Track Listing, Release Dates Revealed
 Brazilian/American thrashers SEPULTURA will release their new album, "Kairos" (an ancient Greek word signifying a time in between, a moment of undetermined period of time in which something special happens) on June 24 in Europe and July 12 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records. The artwork for the CD was created by Erich Sayers, a Los Angeles-based freelance digital artist and photographer whom SEPULTURA first met at the band's recent concert at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California.
SEPULTURA's new CD was recorded at Trama Studios in São Paulo, Brazil with producer Roy Z. (JUDAS PRIEST, HALFORD, BRUCE DICKINSON, HELLOWEEN). 13 tracks were laid down during the sessions, including cover versions of MINISTRY's "Just One Fix" and THE PRODIGY's "Firestarter".

 Canadian thrash metal veterans SACRIFICE played their first-ever European show this past Saturday (April 30) at the Keep It True festival at Tauberfrankenhalle in Lauda-Königshofen, Germany.

SEVEN WITCHES: New Album Artwork, Track Listing, Release Date Revealed
 Many years have passed since the last SEVEN WITCHES album saw the light of day and guitarist/mainman Jack Frost decided it was time to give the fans what they wanted... and brought back James Rivera (HELSTAR) to front the group once again.
With the monstrous bass and songwriting of Mike LePond (SYMPHONY X) and drums from Taz Marazz, Jack Frost and the guys recently completed work on a new album with Joey Vera (ARMORED SAINT, FATES WARNING) handling the mixing. Entitled "Call Upon The Wicked", the CD features material that ranges in sound from classic JUDAS PRIEST to a touch of RAINBOW. There's even an epic song featuring female vocals, a new step in the band's chapter. The record is a bit of a concept, talking about how women have been the decline of men since the beginning of time.

TNT: \'Refugee\' Video Released
 "Refugee", the new video from Norwegian/British hard rockers TNT, can be viewed below.
When TNT's Ronni Le Tekrø (guitar) and Tony Mills (vocals) wrote the song, they were inspired by refugees in Toten and their invisibility in society.
The track and its theme aroused the enthusiasm of the Norwegian Refugee Council and a collaboration ensued. This resulted in a video that presents both the band live on stage and refugee issues with the NRC in large parts of the world.
Both parties hope the video will increase the focus on some of the most hopeless situations refugees experience and thus generate financial support for this work.
The clip, which tool a few months to complete, will be used worldwide by the NRC, the UN, and TNT networks worldwide.

 On May 31, music fans will have their first taste of reissues from rock icon OZZY OSBOURNE's catalog of work with the releases of two albums which form the cornerstone of Ozzy Osbourne's career as a solo artist: "Blizzard of Ozz" and "Diary of a Madman" (Epic Records/Legacy Recordings). Long revered by rock fans around the world, these two albums created a template for hard rock in the 1980s and beyond as they were marked by the ground-breaking and historic union of Ozzy and the late guitar hero Randy Rhoads. These definitive versions of 1980's "Blizzard of Ozz" (with previously unreleased bonus tracks) and 1981's "Diary of a Madman" are available individually on vinyl or CD, or together in a deluxe collector's box. Bob Daisley, who played bass on the first two solo albums by Ozzy Osbourne, said in a 2010 interview with his web site that he has not been contacted about the 30th-anniversary editions of those records. The tracks played by Daisley and drummer Lee Kerslake on both albums — 1980's "Blizzard Of Ozz" and 1981's "Diary Of A Madman" — were replaced on a previous reissue after Daisley and Kerslake sued Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne over royalties.
Daisley told the web site, "Neither Lee nor I have been contacted, considered or consulted in the decision to re-release the original recordings. I haven't a clue as to what the 'bonus material' might be. As for royalties, we have not been approached for a reconciliation and have been offered and promised nothing."
Ozzy told The Pulse of Radio he was against the idea of replacing the original tracks when he found out about it. "Believe me, it wasn't my doing," he said. "I mean, I didn't know that was being done, 'cause Sharon was fighting all the legal things that were going down at the time. I said, 'What did you do that for?' And she said, 'The only way I could stop everything was if it went to that level.' And I said, 'You know what, whatever the circumstances were, I want the original thing back.' I mean, I wouldn't have done that."
The replacement tracks were played by current METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo and FAITH NO MORE drummer Mike Bordin.
Daisley says that he and Kerslake were fired because of disagreements with Sharon over a number of things, including refusing to do two shows in one day out of worry that Ozzy would blow out his voice.
Ozzy's latest solo album, "Scream" came out at the end of June 2010.

ALMAH To Enter Studio Today
 Brazilian progressive power metal band ALMAH — the side project of ANGRA members Edu Falaschi (vocals) and Felipe Andreoli (bass) — will enter Norcal Studio in São Paulo, Brazil today (Monday, May 2) to begin recording its third album for a September release. 10 songs are being tracked for the effort, which was composed by the entire band and is described in a press release as "really heavy and up-to-date with less influences of typical melodic metal."
"This CD will affirm the identity of the band. It will be a style which I love and adore! I've been looking for this kind of satisfaction as a musician and as a person over the years," says Falaschi.
ALMAH's sophomore album, "Fragile Equality", was released in October 2008 via AFM Records.

DREAM THEATER Guitarist: MANGINI \'Is Not Only A Beast Of A Player But An Incredible Person\'
 Progressive metal giants DREAM THEATER have recruited Mike Mangini — the 48-year-old session artist who has played for ANNIHILATOR, EXTREME, JAMES LABRIE and STEVE VAI — as the replacement for the recently departed Mike Portnoy.
In a posting on his official forum, DREAM THEATER guitarist John Petrucci writes, "Well, it's been a very exciting day for all of us in DREAM THEATER and we are happy to finally share the news that Mike Mangini is our new drummer! He is not only a beast of a player but an incredible person as well who truly and fully understands and values everything that we strive to be as a band.
"Thank you for being so patient and incredibly supportive to us throughout the years and especially over the last several months.
"Thank you for your faith in us and your immediate and practically across-the-board acceptance of Mike Mangini as our new drummer.
"Thank you for the positive words about the documentary [three-part web series documenting DREAM THEATER's drummer search] and all of your passion and dedication.
"The movie is our gift and our invitation into something that would traditionally be very private and I appreciate everyone's sensitivity towards that.
"There's a lot of work to be done, so back to the studio.
"John Myung finished tracking bass today and Jordan [Rudess, keyboards] is recording as I type.
"Things are real busy around here.
"Can't wait for everyone to hear the new music and to begin playing live with Mike!"
Mangini previously stated about his addition to DREAM THEATER, "The day that I got the phone call to be in DREAM THEATER, it took my brain a minute to assemble what was going on, and when it sank in, the feeling was just of tremendous relief.
"It means so much to me, I almost felt like crying a couple of times. [Laughs] I didn't know what to do.
"What it means to me to be part of not only such a legendary band, but this band, is a sense of fulfillment and purpose. I feel like a puzzle piece, and with Mike [Portnoy] in particular, I feel really honored to carry on the torch for him; I'm carrying on his spirit."

COREY TAYLOR Says Landing VELVET REVOLVER Singer Gig \'Wasn\'t In The Cards\'
 David "Gus" Griesinger of BackstageAxxess.com conducted an interview with SLIPKNOT members Corey Taylor (also of STONE SOUR) and Shawn "Clown "Crahan on the "black carpet" of the third annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards, which was held on April 20 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California. When asked if there is still a chance that he will become the new lead singer of VELVET REVOLVER, Taylor replied, "It wasn't in the cards, and that's cool. I made some great friends; obviously, I'm jamming with [VELVET REVOLVER bassist] Duff [McKagan's DUFF MCKAGAN'S LOADED] tonight. It was just cool to kind of get together with them and jam, man. But it's all good."
Taylor may not be adding "VELVET REVOLVER frontman" to his resume as rumored, but VELVET bassist Duff McKagan says that recordings exist of Taylor singing with the band. Asked about the speculation that Taylor was their man, McKagan told Music Radar, "We recorded a bunch of songs with Corey. I think he's fucking great. Whether he's in VELVET REVOLVER or not . . . I think he's the best voice of a new generation. The best rock 'n' voice out there. He's got a lot of positive energy. I'd be proud to do anything with him."
McKagan added, "But the truth is . . . I can't see VELVET REVOLVER happening till fall, maybe. (VELVET guitarist) Slash is touring, I'm just starting to tour . . . We'll just see. I just don't have an answer. I don't."
This was the first time that a member of VELVET REVOLVER has confirmed actually recording with Taylor.
It was just two months ago that it looked increasingly likely that VELVET REVOLVER was going to announce Taylor as the band's new vocalist. Taylor had hinted at it, and both McKagan and Slash had confirmed meeting with Taylor.
But things seemed to cool down in March, with Taylor recently sporting a "I am not the new singer in VELVET REVOLVER" T-shirt and McKagan telling England's Total Rock that the band may even put its search on hold again.
Slash has said in recent interviews that he plans to make a new solo album this year, while McKagan is touring with his side band LOADED and launching a wealth management firm for musicians.
Taylor is currently on the road with STONE SOUR and will do some summer festival gigs with SLIPKNOT.

MURDER THERAPY To Release \'Molochian\' EP In May
 Italian death metallers MURDER THERAPY will release their new EP, "Molochian", in digital format and as a limited-edition digipack (200 copies through the band's Bandcamp site) on May 2.
"Molochian" was recorded and mixed at Regrexion Studios in Bologna by Michele Trasforini and sees the return of former MURDER THERAPY singer Riccardo Meschiari, who handles guest vocals on the song "Unvacuity".
Commented the band: "'Molochian' is a collection of songs written in the first half of 2010 and that will not make it to our second full-length album, of which we’ve given a glimpse of with the song 'Resilience' in January.
"'Molochian''s songs, different from the band's current post-metal atmospheres, are still rooted in the progressive death metal we presented in our debut, 'Symmetry Of Delirium' (2009) although adding different experimental nuances.
"The last track, 'Di Luci e Negazioni', written more recently, is a long track in which tribal percussions recorded with various ethnic instruments merge with dark and restless atmospheres anticipating what will be the start of the musical direction in our next album.
"For this release, we preferred a free digital format to give maximum diffusion to the songs online and a limited digipack edition for the collectors and those who are affectionate to our discography."

YOB Preparing To Enter Studio
 American doom metal titans YOB have entered Dogwood Studios in Eugene, Oregon with producer Jeff Olsen to begin work on their sixth album. This marks the second time that the band has teamed with Profound Lore Records, the first being for 2009's highly regarded "The Great Cessation".
Commented YOB vocalist/guitarist Mike Scheidt: "We will be recording with Jeff Olsen at Dogwood Studios in Eugene, Oregon, where every YOB recording has been realized. Profound Lore will be handling the album's release and we couldn't be happier.
"This album is very aggressive. Certainly it has all of the elements of our other albums, but it propels and pummels in ways that are unique in our catalogue.
"We are very excited to share this new music with our friends worldwide.
"YOB has received many request over the years to tour again. This year, we will do exactly that. After we are done recording, we will begin rehearsing for a full U.S. tour beginning the first week of July, followed by a full European tour in September.
"We are thrilled to announce that our labelmates DARK CASTLE will be accompanying YOB on all of the dates both in the U.S. and in Europe, with Rob Shaffer of DARK CASTLE laying down drums for YOB on both tours.
