MOONSORROW: Entire New Album Available For Streaming
 "Varjoina Kuljemme Kuolleiden Maassa", the new album from epic heathen metallers MOONSORROW — a five-strong outfit formed in Helsinki, Finland in 1995 — is available for streaming in its entirety at the Record Shop X web site. (Note: The stream will be available until March 1.) The CD was released on February 23 in Finland and will be made available on March 21 in the U.K. through Spinefarm Records.

ULVER: New Album Title Changed; First Song Available For Streaming
 Progressive Norwegian rock/metal band ULVER has changed the title of its next album to "Wars Of The Roses" from the previously announced "Critical Geography".

KING KOBRA: New Album Details Revealed
 Frontiers Records has set an April 15 European release date (May 5 in North America) for the new self-titled comeback album from KING KOBRA.
Formed in 1984 by legendary drummer Carmine Appice (VANILLA FUDGE, ROD STEWART, OZZY OSBOURNE), Los Angeles heavy metal outfit KING KOBRA recorded two critically acclaimed albums for Capitol Records — the 1985 release "Ready To Strike" and 1986's "Thrill Of A Lifetime".
Along with Carmine, the band featured four relatively unknown musicians at the time — David Michael-Philips and Mick Sweda on guitar, Johnny Rod on bass and Mark Free on lead vocals. KING KOBRA toured the U.S., Canada, Europe and Mexico playing shows with KISS, IRON MAIDEN, QUIET RIOT, TED NUGENT, QUEENSRŸCHE and AUTOGRAPH.
The band was featured regularly on MTV and performed the theme song for the #1 1986 motion picture "Iron Eagle". After disbanding in 1988, each member continued his career in other successful major-label groups — Carmine to BLUE MURDER (Geffen), Mark Free to UNRULY CHILD (Interscope), Mick Sweda to the BULLETBOYS (Warner Bros.), Johnny Rod to W.A.S.P. (Capitol/EMI) and David Michael-Philips to LIZZY BORDEN (Metal Blade).
The year 2010 saw the band reunite the original classic '85 lineup, replacing original singer Mark Free (now Marcie Free) with veteran lead vocalist Paul Shortino (ROUGH CUTT, QUIET RIOT).
"This album captures all the great points we had in the 80's, but better," says Carmine Appice. "The music is more traditional KING KOBRA music. Great lyrics, kick-ass songs with cool hooks and really good playing. A really great hard rock/metal record with lots of energy." David Michael-Phillips adds, "It truly is an all-star album. Paul Shortino is amazing! I can honestly say he is one of the best vocalists in the business along with being one of the nicest and most generous people I have ever met."
The band is planning to get on some targeted American and European summer festivals this year.

MOTÖRHEAD LEMMY Says Rap Is 'Not Music'
 Ed Condran of Atlantic City Weekly recently conducted an interview with MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy Kilmister. A few excerpts from the chat follow below.
On combining the muscularity of metal with the speed of punk rock:
Lemmy: "It just felt natural for me to do so. It was different from HAWKWIND. It was a much better fit and that's the way it's stayed all of these years."
On the variety in the music offered by Kilmister and company over the years:
Lemmy: "There is a certain style of MOTÖRHEAD. But there are differences from album to album. Each song stands on its own. But the thing is that we go all out with each song. We give as much energy as we can."
On being bored during this politically correct era in rock:
Lemmy: "It kills me how bland this period is. You go backstage these days and you see 20 bottles of Perrier and a bag of nuts. What's wrong with this fucking picture? Everything is so healthy today and it's terrible. I don't get it."
On today's rock and pop stars:
Lemmy: "What the fuck is it about John Mayer? Someone should explain him to me. And the same goes for Justin Bieber. They're all such boring people. They're so fucking serious. I'm not interested in people as boring as that. It's a shame these people are popular entertainers."
On indulging in the virtues of hip-hop:
Lemmy: "Why should I do that when it's not music. There's nothing creative about doing that [rapping] over music someone else created. They go out and take John Bonham's drumming. I don't call that music. You think they [rappers] could come up with sounds of their own, even some basic sounds and they can't do it. Sad."
On continuing to release albums:
Lemmy: "Making music is still a good time for us. As long we continue to have fun and people come out there's no reason to stop what we're doing."

IAN GILLAN Says \'It\'s About Time\' For DEEP PURPLE To Begin Work On New Album
 DEEP PURPLE, one of Britain's foremost hard rock bands, took part in a press conference yesterday (Tuesday, February 22) in Mexico City ahead of the group's short tour of Mexico.
When asked if there are any plans for DEEP PURPLE to record a new studio album soon, the band's vocalist, Ian Gillan, replied, "I guess it's about time, isn't it?! So we're gonna get together and have a writing session quite soon. And if we get excited, then we'll probably have another [album finished and ready for release] shortly after that. We'll see how it goes. But there's no plans. But I think we're getting poked by various connections who would like to see another DEEP PURPLE record. So I think it's about time."
Two separate Mexican TV reports featuring footage from the press conference can be viewed below.
DEEP PURPLE released a live album last year called "Space Truckin' Round the World Live 68-76". The two-disc set features rare live recordings from various concerts all over the world, including gigs in Tokyo, Paris and San Diego. The compilation, which features multiple band lineups, also features a detailed history of the group, individual concert details and photos. It was released as part of the 10th anniversary of Purple Records — the label that handles the band's music.
DEEP PURPLE's 18th studio album, "Rapture of the Deep", was released in November 2005. It is the fourth studio CD from DEEP PURPLE since guitarist Steve Morse joined the band in 1994. It was also the second album to feature veteran keyboardist Don Airey.
"Rapture of the Deep" was produced by Mike Bradford, who also worked on the band's previous release, 2003's "Bananas".

WARRANT Begins Mixing New Album
 California hard rockers WARRANT have finished recording their seventh studio album with producer Keith Olsen (OZZY OSBOURNE, WHITESNAKE, SCORPIONS) and are currently mixing the effort for a tentative early May release via Frontiers Records. According to a February 23 Twitter message from the band, three songs out of a total of 14 have been mixed so far and the material is "sounding killer."
In a recent online posting, WARRANT guitarist Joey Allen stated about the group's new CD, "The band did a stellar job — great songs, great playing, and an all-around great vibe. This is the best WARRANT record and recording experience I have had. . . Everyone is firing on all cylinders... Wait until you hear [new WARRANT singer Robert] Mason tear it up... KILLER."

When asked if WARRANT's new material — which will appear on the group's forthcoming studio album — will have that same Sunset Strip influence as the band's earlier stuff, singer Robert Mason told the Green Bay Press-Gazette, "The new material doesn't sound exactly like the old stuff did, because we're all a little older and wiser — and maybe a little more sober, I don't know, slightly more sober — but it's still the same spirit. You can take the kid out of the city, but you can't take the city out of the kid, ya know?"

AUTOPSY: New Album Track Listing Revealed
 "Macabre Eternal", the first first full-length album from the legendary San Francisco Bay Area gore grind act AUTOPSY since 1995's "Shitfun", will be released in Europe in early June on Peaceville Records. A U.S. release will follow several weeks later.
"Macabre Eternal" was recorded at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California and includes AUTOPSY's first 10-plus minute song "Sadistic Gratification". "It's 11 minutes and 33 seconds of pure fucking sickness," guitarist Eric Cutler told Invisible Oranges.
"Our fans can expect no less than our best, the best we have to offer," Cutler added. "If you like AUTOPSY, you will think this is the best."

Drummer GINGER FISH Quits MARILYN MANSON
 MARILYN MANSON drummer Ginger Fish (real name: Kenneth Robert Wilson) has released the following statement:
"After much deliberation and constant reflection of where my life has been and where it could or should be heading, I am regretful to inform the general population, and the fans, that I have decided to step down as a member of MARILYN MANSON and see where my life, and the knowledge of my availability cares to take me. I can't stand by to watch opportunities pass me by simply because the knowledge of my availability wasn't clearly expressed by me. I wish my brothers well, and I expect nothing but great things from them. Any inquiries can be sent to www.bookgingerfish@gmail.com."
A member of MARILYN MANSON since 1995, Fish broke his wrist and suffered a slight concussion in a fall from the stage at the Comet 2004 awards in Germany. The drummer fell off the stage as MANSON performed a cover version of DEPECHE MODE's "Personal Jesus" at the award ceremony in Cologne. He was subsequently temporarily replaced in the group's touring lineup by Chris Vrenna (ex-NINE INCH NAILS).
Fish played several U.S. shows with ROB ZOMBIE earlier this month before Rob's regular drummer, Joey Jordison — who was in Europe performing with MURDERDOLLS — rejoined the group in time for ROB ZOMBIE's U.K. headlining dates.
MARILYN MANSON in 2009 parted ways with longtime record label Interscope following the disappointing sales performance of the shock-rocker's latest album, entitled "The High End Of Low".
"The High End Of Low" was Manson's first album with longtime bassist Twiggy Ramirez since 2000's "Holy Wood".

MELVINS To Release \'Sugar Daddy Live\' In May
 MELVINS will release a new thirteen-track live recording, "Sugar Daddy Live", on May 31 via Ipecac Recordings. Recorded at The Busta-Guts Club in Downey, Califorinia, the CD features such fan favorites as "Boris", "A History of Bad Men" and "The Kicking Machine".
MELVINS recently completed a month-long residency at Los Angeles' Spaceland and are currently in New Zealand with a forthcoming round of Australian dates as part of the Soundwave Festival. The MELVINS were in Christchurch when the February 21 earthquake struck but escaped unscathed and are due to resume their tour later this week.

ENDSTILLE: New Album Title, Release Date Announced
 German black metallers ENDSTILLE have set "Infektion 1813" as the title of their seventh album, due on May 17 (one day earlier internationally) via Season Of Mist. The first pressing of the CD will be a limited-edition digipak.
Commented the group: "We're satisfied to get reinforcements now by our new comrades of Season of Mist. They already proved to be a successful label in the past. So we know that our new brothers in arms can give us enough support for being finally at war with all."

GARY MOORE Laid To Rest
 According to the Belfast Telegraph, legendary guitarist Gary Moore was laid to rest yesterday in a small village graveyard outside Brighton, England.
Moore's family decided to hold his funeral not in Belfast, Ireland, where he was born, but near where he had made his home in the past 15 years and where his children live.
Lily, one of the guitarist's four childen, spoke of her father as "a man with rather colorful shirts, who possessed a childlike quality and was an inspiration to many and the kind of person you could never forget."
THIN LIZZY guitarist Scott Gorham told the Belfast Telegraph that he was unaware the service for Moore was taking place.
"No one kept me informed of any arrangements regarding his funeral," he said.
"I'll drive down to Brighton one day on my own and pay my respects," Gorham added.

DARZAMAT Singer\'s Solo Project NERANATURE: Debut Album Release Date Announced
 Nera, the singer of the Polish metal band DARZAMAT, will release her debut solo album, "Foresting Wounds", under the name NERANATURE on May 8 via Metal Mind Productions.
Audio samples of four tracks ("Shattered", "Precious Now", "Oblivion" and "Disappointed") that will appear on the CD can be streamed on Nera's MySpace page.
Formed in 2009, NERANATURE "appeared as a space where the air is filled with matters lingering in [Nera's] head, a bit more intimate, private and sometimes bizarre and freakish," according to a press release.
"I've been waiting for a long time for the right place and time to find an outlet for my personal thoughts and beliefs," explains Nera. "This is the time and place." The idea appealed to Chris, the guitarist of DARZAMAT, who created the base for the melodies and completed the project with his music.
The name of the band is a combination of two words: Nera, which is the nickname of the vocalist, and Nature, which represents a reflection of a deep connection with the environment. It can also be interpreted as the nature of Nera — a diversity of views reflected in the songs. The feminine character of lyrics imbued with the feminist outlook on life constitutes one the most significant elements of the projects, touching upon such issues as man's detachment from nature and running away from himself/herself. The approach presented in the album is not only the singer's artistic pose, as Nera has been an engaged animal-rights activist and a vegetarian for the last 15 years.
The music of NERANATURE can be categorized as a mixture of atmospheric rock/metal, ambient and trip rock.
"Foresting Wounds" contains ten compositions — ranging from sensuous ballads to more energetic songs — which were produced by Jaroslaw Toifl.

WARBRINGER Announces New Drummer
 Los Angeles thrashers WARBRINGER have announced the addition of drummer Carlos Cruz (HEXEN) to the group's ranks.

TWISTED SISTER Guitarist EDDIE OJEDA Reveals New Solo Album Title
 DiMarzio, Inc., the Staten Island, New York-based company that manufactures magnetic pickups for electric guitars, has posted a four-minute video clip of TWISTED SISTER guitarist Eddie Ojeda talking about his first hand-wound Super Distortion pickup, his DiMarzio cables and straps, and his solo projects. Said Ojeda: "Right now I'm working on my second solo album [entitled 'Pick A Window, You're Leaving']. I hope to have some guest artists, like I did on the first one. On the first one I had Ronnie James Dio, Joe Lynn Turner, Rudy Sarzo on bass… Dee Snider [of TWISTED SISTER] sang a song as well. I had quite a few guest artists and I hope to do the same on this album. I just don't know who I'm gonna get yet. But it should be a nice surprise."
Eddie Ojeda's 2006 solo album, "Axes 2 Axes", was recently made available on vinyl for the first time via Steel Legacy and Rockaholics Records. 500 hand-numbered copies of the LP were made (250 in black with pink bits configuration and 250 in a reddish/pink tint).
"Axes 2 Axes" features guest appearances by such acclaimed hard rock/heavy metal vocalists as Ronnie James Dio (DIO, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH), Dee Snider (TWISTED SISTER), and Joe Lynn Turner (RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN). Rudy Sarzo (QUIET RIOT, WHITESNAKE, DIO, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) plays bass on two tracks, with Chris McCarvill handling the rest. Drummer Joe Franco (TWISTED SISTER, VINNIE MOORE, JACK BRUCE) plays on the entire record. The cover artwork for "Axes 2 Axes" was conceived by German artist Timo Wuerz.

KATANA Signs With LISTENABLE RECORDS
 Listenable Records has announced the signing of Swedish heavy metal band KATANA. According to a press release, the group "delivers a show that is 100 percent pure adrenaline and will take the audience straight back to the golden age of the early '80s.
"The music of KATANA is heavily influenced by bands like IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST and ACCEPT. The band definitely shows that the genre is more alive than ever and their newly recorded debut album, 'Heads Will Roll', will set a new standard for what classic heavy metal is supposed to sound like in 2011."
"Heads Will Roll" entered the official Swedish sales chart at No. 42 and the metal chart at No. 3 the first week of its release.

STRAIGHT LINE STITCH: New Album Details Revealed
 Knoxville, Tennessee-based female-fronted metal/hardcore act STRAIGHT LINE STITCH will release its sophomore album, "Laughing In The Rearview", on March 22 via eOne Music. The follow-up to 2008's "When Skies Wash Ashore" was produced and mixed by the Grammy Award-nominated producer Johnny K (DISTURBED, MACHINE HEAD, SEVENDUST) and is set to include eleven new songs. Additional work on the album was done by Ben Schigel.

This is only abetted by contributions of twisted misanthropy from Rainer Landfermann (PAVOR, BETHLEHEM), Alan Dubin (KHANATE, GNAW) and the utter blackness of Gnaw Their Tongues. Glorying in their Pyrrhic epiphanies, ANAAL NATHRAKH have developed a deeper understanding of horror and "Passion" is the focused, distilled and above all bleakly triumphant result.

ROB ZOMBIE Says WHITE ZOMBIE Will Never Reunite
 According to The Pulse Of Radio, Rob Zombie told England's RockAAA in a new interview that his original band, WHITE ZOMBIE, will never reunite. Zombie explained, "I don't see the point. I think as with most things people have a memory of something like, 'I saw them when I was 14 years old and it was the greatest thing ever,' but if they saw us now they'd probably go, 'I wish I hadn't seen that reunion, it was awful.' The singer added, "It is better to leave it alone and I haven't talked to anyone from the band except (drummer) John Tempesta in about 15 years."
WHITE ZOMBIE broke up in 1997 and Rob Zombie went on to launch a successful solo career in 1998. He told The Pulse Of Radio that nowadays a lot of his audience isn't even familiar with the old WHITE ZOMBIE songs. "The crowds are really, really young and I've been noticing that with the set list too, because, you know, as the time has gone on, we've really worked the WHITE ZOMBIE material more out of the set, because we've been finding that it's not working like it used to," he said. "It seems like that those songs just seem now old to people and it's very strange."
The history of WHITE ZOMBIE came up when Rob Zombie was asked to comment on the recent publication of "I'm In The Band", a memoir from ex-WHITE ZOMBIE bassist and Rob's former girlfriend Sean Yseult.
In the book, Yseult claims that the departure of drummer Ivan DePrume led to the eventual disintegration of the group.
Zombie said, "I have not seen it [the book] so I can't comment. I can barely remember those days, so I'm glad somebody can."
He added, "Everybody likes to make up stories which aren't true. I don't think that's fair. Ivan left the band, John Tempesta came in and the band sounded better than ever, we kept playing and made bigger records and did more tours so I don't see how that had anything to do with it."
Zombie is currently on tour in Europe, where he is playing some countries for the first time in more than a decade. He says that rumors about him having a fear of flying and thus not traveling overseas were just an urban myth.
Once his current road trip is finished, Zombie will return home to begin pre-production on his next movie, "The Lords Of Salem".

LEAVES\' EYES: \'Meredead\' Track Listing Revealed
 LEAVES' EYES — the German/Norwegian band formed by ex-THEATRE OF TRAGEDY singer Liv Kristine Espenaes Krull and members of ATROCITY — will release its new album, "Meredead", on April 22 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. HAEMORRHAGE To Release \'Hospital Carnage\' In May
 Madrid, Spain's HAEMORRHAGE has completed work on its new full-length album, "Hospital Carnage", for a May 24 North American release (May 30 internationally) via Relapse Records. The follow-up to 2006's "Apology For Pathology" will be made available on CD, LP and digitally. The album art, as designed by the band's guitarist/vocalist Luisma, can be seen below.
HAEMORRHAGE recorded "Hospital Carnage" at VRS Studios with Samuel Ruiz. The CD was mastered by Scott Hull at Visceral Sound. Songtitles set to appear on the album include "Traumaggedon" (for which the band recently shot a video), "Fomite Fetish", "Hospital Thieves", "Hypochondriac", "Necronatology" and "Tumour Donor".
HAEMORRHAGE's classic "Grume" album was recently reissued via Relapse.

THURISAZ Signs With SLEASZY RIDER RECORDS
 Belgium-based metallers THURISAZ have inked a deal with Greece's Sleaszy Rider Records for the release of the band's third album, "The Cimmerian Years". Due in May, the CD was recorded and mixed at CCR Studio in Zulte, Belgium with producer Kris Belean. The artwork was created by the Dutch artist Geert van Mook and can be viewed below.
Regarding what fans can expect from the new album, the band said, "One could say it's gonna be a known mixture of styles, yet so very different... It's gonna be the known combination of different vocals, yet so very different... It's gonna be the known soundscapes of bombast and melody, yet again so very different... Let's just say, it will sound familiar and it won't..."

 BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION — the Anglo/American rock supergroup featuring vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH, TRAPEZE), drummer Jason Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN), Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER) and blues rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa — has joined forces with Planet Rock, the U.K.'s leading classic rock radio station, to offer rock fans the opportunity to download two exclusive free live BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION tracks.

DEMONICAL: New Album Details Revealed
 DEMONICAL, the Swedish death metal band featuring past and present members from CENTINEX, GRAVE, REGURGITATE, INTERMENT, AMARAN, WORLD BELOW and DELLAMORTE, will release its third album, "Death Infernal", on April 15 via Germany's Cyclone Empire Records. The CD was recorded, mixed and mastered at Necromorbus Studio (WATAIN, UNANIMATED, DESTRÖYER 666) in Alvik, Sweden under the watchful eye of DEMONICAL frontman Sverker Widgren. Other individuals taking part in the creation of "Death Infernal" were Costin Chioreanu of Twilight 13 Media and photographer Soile Siirtola.
According to a press release, "Death Infernal" will be "a lethal dose of fast Stockholm-style old-school death metal mixed with more epic and cold elements, hence creating the most deadly and victorious soundtrack for the upcoming downfall of Mother Earth."
